解制日兩序請上堂:「聖制告圓如何是放行一句?」J40nB494_p0546c12師云:「緊峭草鞋。」進云:「若不上來焉知端的?」師云:「索頭J40nB494_p0546c13猶在天寧手裡。」進云:「大眾若到諸方記取和尚此語。」J40nB494_p0546c14師云:「切忌𨁝。」乃云:「去年十月十五日結諸人離諸J40nB494_p0546c15方來作麼與天寧相見今年正月十五日解諸人別J40nB494_p0546c16天寧去作麼與諸方相見若向這裡道得箇親切句J40nB494_p0546c17九十日內知你無虛棄底工夫不然前廊下後架上J40nB494_p0546c18不惟蹉過天寧湘之南潭之北抑且忽略諸方有分J40nB494_p0546c19有般底聞恁麼道便云:『天寧相見秪在這裡諸方相J40nB494_p0546c20見亦秪在這裡。』若與麼何異屋裏販揚州雖然天寧J40nB494_p0546c21見處也要諸仁共知一塵一佛國不是諸人相見處J40nB494_p0546c22一葉一釋迦亦不是諸人相見處要得鼻孔遼天J40nB494_p0546c23你踏破草鞋來我開粥過夏與汝款款地商量。」

興化縣李遇元兄弟薦亡請小參師豎拂子:「此是J40nB494_p0546c25從上諸聖用不盡底諸仁要心領神解但不得以聖J40nB494_p0546c26名凡號男相女形而分別之古人雖巧指善譬正按J40nB494_p0546c27傍提道個是甚麼會也無是傷鹽傷醬了也那堪J40nB494_p0546c28更說生後生前腳頭腳底何異蒸砂作飯刻木為檀J40nB494_p0546c29不見道:『真如淨境界一泯未嘗存。』既一泯不存則覓J40nB494_p0546c30生尚不可得更說甚死耶覓真尚不可得更說甚妄J40nB494_p0547a01既生死真妄俱不可得則全體住在如來大覺場J40nB494_p0547a02那待坐法空座衣忍辱衣然後方稱塵中大自在J40nB494_p0547a03德善道人秉心慈善生前受戒於寶華登佛位J40nB494_p0547a04死後乞法於山野期透祖關。」復豎拂子:「諸仁者J40nB494_p0547a05今祖關且作麼說透底道理?」遂擲拂子喝一喝J40nB494_p0547a06:「掉臂徑行是性燥漢。」

晚參。「父母未生前一句百尺竿頭五兩垂昔日香嚴J40nB494_p0547a08向這裡打失鼻孔只因綆短不及深泉直待擊竹時J40nB494_p0547a09方云:『一擊忘所知。』」驀喝一喝:「劍去久矣爾方刻舟。」

晚參。「僧一清昨來自古杭:『南澗參堂有一居士過J40nB494_p0547a11靈隱隨喜值隱上堂乃出問:「文殊是七佛之師因甚J40nB494_p0547a12出女子定不得?」隱云:「念汝新到放汝三十棒。」「罔明是J40nB494_p0547a13初地菩薩因甚卻出得?」隱云:「脫下衣來更與一頓。」J40nB494_p0547a14舉似南澗澗哂之士遂問:「文殊是七佛之師因甚J40nB494_p0547a15出女子定不得?」澗云:「老僧出不得。」士云:「罔明是初地J40nB494_p0547a16菩薩因甚卻出得?」澗云:「靈隱出得。」』」隨召眾云:「南澗J40nB494_p0547a17隱荅語現在諸人試檢點優劣看須知這則公案從J40nB494_p0547a18上提唱者甚多無一人搔著古人癢處你若向出得J40nB494_p0547a19出不得處見文殊罔明則通身墮在毒海據實而論J40nB494_p0547a20靈隱好棒秪是放不著所在致令南澗檢點南澗好J40nB494_p0547a21語未免猶存世諦要且塞天寧口不得雖然設有人J40nB494_p0547a22:『文殊是七佛之師因甚出女子定不得?』只向他道J40nB494_p0547a23天寧有三十棒不打文殊。』『罔明是初地菩薩因甚卻J40nB494_p0547a24出得?』:『天寧有三十棒亦不打罔明。』且道畢竟甚麼J40nB494_p0547a25人合打?」驀喝一喝:「來說是非者便是是非人。」

重九日晚參。「今朝正是九月九世人盡飲茱萸酒J40nB494_p0547a27高吹帽落天風無端笑破傍人口爭似林下閒道人J40nB494_p0547a28掉臂超諸有不逾本際而踞正峰不撥諸塵而J40nB494_p0547a29入正受雖然若據正眼觀來大棒好與劈脊摟且道J40nB494_p0547a30過在甚麼處?」良久:「怪他有人身底師僧不如無佛J40nB494_p0547b01性底業狗。」復云:「會得者近前來。」一眾默然師云:「這裡J40nB494_p0547b02不是毘耶因甚卻一齊杜口?」遂以竹篦旋風打散

晚參:「昔鏡清問僧:『門外是甚麼聲?』僧云:『雨滴聲。』J40nB494_p0547b04:『眾生顛倒逐物。』僧云:『和尚作麼生?』清云:『洎不J40nB494_p0547b05。』僧云:『洎不迷意旨如何?』清云:『出身猶可易J40nB494_p0547b06體道應難。』」乃云:「鏡清淺草裡藏身這僧平地上遭跌J40nB494_p0547b07雖然未見輸贏及乎被伊倒拶將來依舊出語存路J40nB494_p0547b08何曾離得明月蘆花今日天寧別資一路去也待他J40nB494_p0547b09云雨滴聲只向他道:『觀音菩薩來也。』人若相委管保J40nB494_p0547b10活卻盡大地死人。」

晚參。「見色明心聞聲悟道文殊打失眼睛觀音鑽破J40nB494_p0547b12耳竅餬餅饅頭總現成何用求玄並究妙君不見J40nB494_p0547b13人有言兮不傳紅粉轉風流大抵還他肌骨好。」

無燂孫護法伯仲為先嚴請對靈小參:「生本無生J40nB494_p0547b15死本無死請問和尚即今孫孝翁在甚麼處安身立J40nB494_p0547b16?」師云:「乾坤收不得日月豈能該?」進云:「一擊翻身狂J40nB494_p0547b17頓歇一輪紅日炤西方。」師云:「且道孝翁還肯你與麼J40nB494_p0547b18道麼?」僧畫一○相:「大眾向這裡薦取。」師便打乃卓J40nB494_p0547b19拄杖一下:「若向這裡坐斷報化佛頭去則不用地J40nB494_p0547b20水以為先身火風而作本體自然孤迥迥寰中獨步J40nB494_p0547b21峭巍巍界外橫身語默悉稟動用不由他術J40nB494_p0547b22部孫太翁昔曾得此故一生秉公持正學佛知儒全J40nB494_p0547b23憑這一著子記得廿餘年前翁跨鶴來揚與先師輩J40nB494_p0547b24主賓相見比時聲名傳播叢林自後江南北名山J40nB494_p0547b25大剎吏部問道之履跡恆滿當此法運凋零之際J40nB494_p0547b26深心祖道者如翁相與激揚豈不為吾門幸事嗚呼J40nB494_p0547b27忽於今秋九月初七日騎鯨上天矣聞易簣時乃說J40nB494_p0547b28偈曰:『以不生生焉能生人以不死死焉能死我於意J40nB494_p0547b29云何無餘滅度。』苟非明見三界生死落處那能如豐J40nB494_p0547b30城獄底掘得一把劍相似將是非得失寵辱憂疑一J40nB494_p0547c01斬斬斷有如此瞥脫哉諸仁者翁既得處孤危用處J40nB494_p0547c02險絕當與龐襄陽媲美一時也所以永嘉大師云:『J40nB494_p0547c03回生幾回死生死悠悠無定止自從頓悟了無生J40nB494_p0547c04諸榮辱何憂喜?』太翁於常寂光中聞之必然大笑曰J40nB494_p0547c05永嘉老於八百年前抓著我癢處。』茲者令嗣伯仲J40nB494_p0547c06以道事親特請山僧對靈且作麼生說個得處孤危J40nB494_p0547c07的道理現前一眾要知麼試看翁生前金湯法塹J40nB494_p0547c08石 皇家豈不是他得處孤危處及時當去便順因J40nB494_p0547c09緣而去如人適城郭之易豈不是他得處孤危處J40nB494_p0547c10者道得處孤危則固是矣但用處險絕未免以此致J40nB494_p0547c11山僧有一轉語為之解嘲。」復卓拄杖云:「高山流水J40nB494_p0547c12知音寡誰把黃金鑄子期?」

晚參:「僧問雲門:『樹凋葉落時如何?』門云:『體露金風。』」J40nB494_p0547c14乃云:「雲門老漢與麼荅話理上有餘事上不足若只J40nB494_p0547c15與麼流布將去曹溪路上怎免礙塞殺人天寧則不J40nB494_p0547c16或有人問:『樹凋葉落時如何?』只向他道:『分付供庫J40nB494_p0547c17。』若人辨得許伊鼻孔遼天。」一僧出問:「和尚未開口J40nB494_p0547c18以前被某甲勘破。」師云:「向甚處著眼?」僧便喝師云:「J40nB494_p0547c19虛頭作麼?」僧無語師便打

晚參。「田地穩密是諸人安身處神通游戲是諸人立J40nB494_p0547c21命處若是個妙協兼通底直饒石霜道有句無句J40nB494_p0547c22藤倚樹徒成露布樹倒藤枯句歸何處亦為寐語J40nB494_p0547c23如溈山呵呵大笑歸方丈且道是田地穩密是神通J40nB494_p0547c24游戲?」良久:「放待冷來看。」

因事晚參。「栴檀林內不存穢草獅子窟中豈容野犴J40nB494_p0547c26直有直評公有公斷向魋自外仲尼門調達難登釋J40nB494_p0547c27迦岸似這一類破佛性的闡提一總貶向法海邊外J40nB494_p0547c28永不許與清淨大眾同居試看今朝與他據款結案。」

晚參。「要行便行要坐便坐若行若坐初無兩個會得J40nB494_p0547c30似老牸犁旱田不會者如大虫看水磨若要脫體J40nB494_p0548a01相應……」遂擲下竹篦大喝一喝:「切忌把這個認為奇J40nB494_p0548a02。」

早參。「溈山牛趙州狗有巴鼻太郎當無佛性真稀有J40nB494_p0548a04既無佛性因甚卻道真稀有?」眾荅不契師歸方丈J40nB494_p0548a05知藏代藏云:「金屑雖貴落眼成翳。」師云:「見處則有J40nB494_p0548a06處則無。」藏云:「師又如何?」師云:「南泉斬貓兒。」

安東法蔭尼上座六十誕辰請上堂:「世尊道:『觀彼J40nB494_p0548a08久遠猶若今日。』且道法上座壽量多少?」師云:「大眾證J40nB494_p0548a09。」進云:「萬年松在祝融峰。」師云:「那裡得這消息來?」J40nB494_p0548a10:「有水皆含月無山不帶雲。」師云:「分明舉似諸方。」J40nB494_p0548a11:「庭前翠柏屋後蒼筠頭頭靈活一一天真可笑人J40nB494_p0548a12人盡作境話會那知千年桃核裡原是舊時仁一任J40nB494_p0548a13他霜磨雨洗日照天臨不凋之操愈見嚴明春生也J40nB494_p0548a14根盤劫石夏長也葉覆乾坤道個萬年松在祝融上J40nB494_p0548a15屬比擬之語更說甚六通五眼四智三身須知呈J40nB494_p0548a16瑞在當人便恁麼去且道因齋慶讚一句又作麼生?」J40nB494_p0548a17遂大喝一喝:「直截根源佛所印摘葉尋枝我不能。」J40nB494_p0548a18便下座

晚參僧問:「學人正問話時本來面目在甚麼處?」師云J40nB494_p0548a20直下看。」乃云:「盡十方世界是摩訶般若光光未發時J40nB494_p0548a21尚無佛無眾生消息有般漆桶擬向這裡承當殊不J40nB494_p0548a22知早被他解脫深坑埋沒了也你現前諸人作麼生J40nB494_p0548a23出脫?」眾無對驀拈竹篦旋風打:「一總將作死馬醫。」

端午師誕日兩序執事請上堂乃云:「五月五日節屆J40nB494_p0548a25天中人人懸艾虎個個釘桃符驅萬邪不入其門J40nB494_p0548a26千災亦遠其戶雖則防閑有法未免太勞攘生爭似J40nB494_p0548a27天寧這裏只用個塗毒鼓等閒擊著不惟三賢膽戰J40nB494_p0548a28亦且十聖魂驚震旦雖闊要一個半個能逃其範圍J40nB494_p0548a29無有是處更有甚德山棒而不飲氣吞聲臨濟喝乃J40nB494_p0548a30敢揚威耀武便恁麼去轉亢陽為和風甘雨迴厲氣J40nB494_p0548b01作景星慶雲頭頭本地風光處處太平氣象是則是J40nB494_p0548b02設有個出來問:『且道具何三昧乃得臻此?』」驀拈拄杖J40nB494_p0548b03卓一下:「黃河三千年一度清。」便下座

惟龍雷居士薦嚴請上堂。「參玄上士須是靈符在手J40nB494_p0548b05韜略隨身法戰場中始稱得一員猛將若只一味立J40nB494_p0548b06高岸說太平話驀地禾山鼓打石鞏弓開要且魄散J40nB494_p0548b07魂飛何況四山相逼將來欲其踢翻生死海拳倒涅J40nB494_p0548b08槃山而後擺手出長安又庸可得乎雖然此蓋其力J40nB494_p0548b09未充之過若是個慣批龍鱗善捋虎鬚的一彈指J40nB494_p0548b10聲咳無不具叱吒風雲之勢何待披忍辱鎧操智慧J40nB494_p0548b11與生死魔軍決戰方謂之祖域爭衡之上將哉J40nB494_p0548b12見昔日菴提遮女問文殊大士曰:『明知生是不生之J40nB494_p0548b13為何卻被生死流轉?』大士曰:『其力未充。』」乃曰:「事存J40nB494_p0548b14函蓋合理應箭鋒拄須還文殊大士然簡點將來J40nB494_p0548b15且只會得如來禪若到祖師門下更買草鞋行腳始J40nB494_p0548b16天寧則不然設有人問:『明知生是不生之理為何J40nB494_p0548b17卻被生死流轉?』只向他道:『不入驚人浪難尋稱意魚。』J40nB494_p0548b18只此一語堪為當薦雷公開解脫門入解脫道了也J40nB494_p0548b19更有甚現生罪業夙世冤愆而不瓦解冰消且道此J40nB494_p0548b20去畢竟超昇何界?」良久:「九蓮捧足生蓮國百寶嚴J40nB494_p0548b21身坐寶臺。」

結夏日泰州劉忠赤居士請上堂:「德山入門便棒J40nB494_p0548b23臨濟入門便喝未審和尚如何接人?」師云:「我這裏沒J40nB494_p0548b24這閑家具。」進云:「誰人知此意令我憶南泉?」師云:「即今J40nB494_p0548b25南泉在甚麼處?」進云:「覿面不識。」師打:「未信你在。」J40nB494_p0548b26:「昔日雲居祐和尚結夏示眾云:『無相光中有一無J40nB494_p0548b27位真人出沒三界流轉五道不捨十惡業不墮五蘊J40nB494_p0548b28不除煩惱障不證大涅槃不憎毀禁不敬持戒J40nB494_p0548b29經冬不過夏汝等諸人還知去處麼?』良久:『九旬陽J40nB494_p0548b30焰裏五分法身圓。』」乃云:「大哉雲居安居美則美矣J40nB494_p0548c01且則明得當時事那知天寧出世秋晚人根卑劣J40nB494_p0548c02不就下平高退席之輩不止五千籌矣今日聖制初J40nB494_p0548c03藉檀越請法之誠只得別翻曲調去也。」驀豎拂子J40nB494_p0548c04:「有相場中有夥無巴鼻漢希出三界望越五J40nB494_p0548c05捨十惡業了五蘊身除煩惱障證涅槃身憎毀禁J40nB494_p0548c06如生冤家敬持戒似活菩薩那邊取次經冬這裡隨J40nB494_p0548c07分過夏更說五分法身且待九旬陽焰裏款款地修J40nB494_p0548c08為取證然雖如是忽有個漢出來道:『大小天寧作小J40nB494_p0548c09乘知見?』只向他道:『三生六十劫。』」

解夏日懸巖知浴率眾善信請上堂僧問:「臨濟半夏J40nB494_p0548c11辭黃檗檗便打且道意旨如何?」師云:「正令當行。」進云J40nB494_p0548c12某甲半夏到天寧即今終夏也去即是住即是?」師打J40nB494_p0548c13:「也不得放過。」進云:「只此一機大播天下。」師云:「且喜J40nB494_p0548c14汝領話。」乃云:「九旬告畢布袋頭開去者從去來者任J40nB494_p0548c15諸法原無定相愚人特地相乖但能於一剎那中J40nB494_p0548c16穿得如來鼻孔一任山遊南嶽普請天台究竟未曾J40nB494_p0548c17動著芒鞋恁麼稱功圓果滿諸佛歡喜道:『奇哉!』不然J40nB494_p0548c18且待龍華會裡參彌勒從頭與汝更加錐。」

惟龍李護法薦嚴請上堂乃云:「正覺離名相隨緣即J40nB494_p0548c20道場諸仁者秪如今日檀越薦親昨日地府赦罪J40nB494_p0548c21道是正覺離名相耶是隨緣即道場耶者裡分析得J40nB494_p0548c22始知罪無實性赦亦虛名當人正覺本體原自光J40nB494_p0548c23如十日並照生死交謝而不變寒暑迭更以常寧J40nB494_p0548c24如此薦親薦得其正如此報本報得其真只這真正J40nB494_p0548c25二字可以繼祖燈可以維世教良以凡夫無知不達J40nB494_p0548c26自家真正本體於無生死中妄見生死於無去來中J40nB494_p0548c27妄見去來於無憎愛中妄見憎愛於無好醜中妄見J40nB494_p0548c28好醜既一切妄見則昏迷失性垢濁纏身流轉六道J40nB494_p0548c29而不知淪墜三途而不覺不見古佛有云:『起諸善法J40nB494_p0548c30本是幻造諸惡業亦是幻身如聚沫心如風幻出無J40nB494_p0549a01根無實性。』幻既無實性一切善惡諸業亦當體全空J40nB494_p0549a02盡大地豈不是一箇大解脫場茲者惟龍居士痛念J40nB494_p0549a03令先嚴生平殺業深重特請山僧說法以祈澡雪J40nB494_p0549a04得宋時王公韶帥邊時亦以殺業深重特請佛印元J40nB494_p0549a05禪師就上藍說法元公拈香云:『此香為殺人不眨眼J40nB494_p0549a06上將軍立地成佛大居士。』眾稱善公亦悠然意消J40nB494_p0549a07日天寧則不然此香為調甫無面目漢伏願冤業場J40nB494_p0549a08中成解脫煩惱海裏得清涼豈不與元公並駕爭驅J40nB494_p0549a09於千古上下哉且正當今日畢竟生何國土?」乃揮拂J40nB494_p0549a10子云:「香雲疊疊承雲馭咫尺蓮邦信可居。」

中秋示眾。「濃雲積霧經旬忽地天拋片月新雨後J40nB494_p0549a12舒光當此夜風前得旨是何人靈山話涉吻唇曹溪J40nB494_p0549a13隔關津爭似天寧一句親但得陰霾都掃盡清光J40nB494_p0549a14喜見十分真。」

晚參。「諸佛意祖師禪釋迦心明似鏡達磨口直如弦J40nB494_p0549a16一大藏教光流東土千七百則聲振西乾說頓說漸J40nB494_p0549a17說實說權談照譚用談要談玄從頭一一生按過J40nB494_p0549a18盧不值半文錢天寧不是抑人揚亦不是欺聖罔J40nB494_p0549a19參透其中一句旨從教鼻孔自遼天。」

歲節晚參:「昔日僧問鏡清:『新年頭還有佛法也無?』J40nB494_p0549a21清云:『。』僧云:『如何是新年頭佛法?』清云:『元正啟祚J40nB494_p0549a22物咸新。』僧云:『謝師荅話。』清云:『山僧今日失利。』又僧問J40nB494_p0549a23明教:『新年頭還有佛法也無?』教云:『。』僧云:『年年是好J40nB494_p0549a24日日是好日為甚麼卻無?』教云:『張公喫酒李公醉。』J40nB494_p0549a25僧云:『老老大大龍頭蛇尾。』教云:『山僧今日失利。』」乃云J40nB494_p0549a26說有說無盡非新年頭佛法且道如何是新年頭佛J40nB494_p0549a27?」:「蹴踏人人增意氣謳歌處處樂昇平忽有箇漢J40nB494_p0549a28出來道:『長老大好新年頭佛法。』只向他道:『天寧今日J40nB494_p0549a29得利。』」

謝士彥伯仲率子請為先嚴體玉居士對靈小參J40nB494_p0549b01揮拂子云:「天以消長為道人以生死為場會得原無J40nB494_p0549b02罣礙何處不是家鄉良由不達此理動念即乖真常J40nB494_p0549b03造惡必沉地獄為善定往天堂善惡二俱不染天然J40nB494_p0549b04本地風光孝子欲酬罔極慇勤勸請敷揚更不尋枝J40nB494_p0549b05摘葉直截為汝提綱亡者靈臺不昧便請直下承當J40nB494_p0549b06且道此後生何地位?」復揮拂子云:「即此便超真淨土J40nB494_p0549b07紛紛花雨散天香。」

法雲寺華嚴社成義偉珍二大德為師本生闍黎請J40nB494_p0549b09下火。「赤日流金三伏天蓮車何事忽高遷縱然竺國J40nB494_p0549b10清涼在難慰同人泣斷絃恭惟本公老闍黎早年社J40nB494_p0549b11結華嚴即俗即真為本事晚歲身端戒品成人成J40nB494_p0549b12作歸程謾云足寄鬧藍袈裟邊全無半點泥水縱謂J40nB494_p0549b13身遠丘壑拄杖頭卻有十分煙霞都道本固者生必J40nB494_p0549b14源遠者流必長豈期法雲方跡於此方而慧日J40nB494_p0549b15忽移炤於他處天寧於公法交四載道契平生譯經J40nB494_p0549b16臺畔雖未共龍象參承大樹堂前早曾作人天軌範J40nB494_p0549b17況持似光風霽月處人若和氣春風今者幻緣既J40nB494_p0549b18真照獨存且道畢竟得何三昧?」驀以火炬打圓相J40nB494_p0549b19:「從今踏著南詢路火裡清涼脫體新。」
