J40nB494_p0583c04元旦日,克昭後堂、一止知殿領龍舒眾信請上堂。「元J40nB494_p0583c05正啟祚,萬物咸新,惟有天寧拄杖子不涉新舊,一味J40nB494_p0583c06坐樂昇平。秪如即今臘雪未消,青陽先到,作麼生說J40nB494_p0583c07箇樂底道理?」乃揮拂子,云:「石樓仰祝 堯天罷,大啟J40nB494_p0583c08柴門看好春。」下座。
J40nB494_p0583c09立春第二日示眾。「春風一拂融殘雪,放出雲山依舊J40nB494_p0583c10青,澗壑忽添新瀑布,茅簷猶掛舊冰稜。舉頭天上星J40nB494_p0583c11霜易,彈指人間歲月增,分付兩堂玄學客,急須努力J40nB494_p0583c12繼傳燈。」
J40nB494_p0583c13解制日,付法監院,請上堂。問:「擊碎照夜明珠,放出沖J40nB494_p0583c14天俊鶻,正當解制一句如何分付?」師云:「切莫亂統。」進J40nB494_p0583c15云:「會即途中受用,不會則世諦流布,如何得恰好去?」J40nB494_p0583c16師云:「全靠山僧不得。」進云:「將謂少林消息斷,桃花依J40nB494_p0583c17舊笑春風。」師云:「新上座撞彩耳。」進云:「誰知遠煙浪,別J40nB494_p0583c18有好商量?」師云:「孟八郎又恁麼去。」乃舉:「永嘉《證道歌》J40nB494_p0583c19曰:『遊江海,涉山川,尋師訪道為參禪,自從踏著曹溪J40nB494_p0583c20路,了知生死不相干。』親見寶林來底,果然獨超物外。J40nB494_p0583c21今日天寧聖制告圓,你諸仁擬遊江海耶?涉山川耶?J40nB494_p0583c22擬訪道耶?參禪耶?如果踏著天寧路,越過生死海,不J40nB494_p0583c23惟堪繼先宗,抑且可規來學。不然,一句當天八萬門,J40nB494_p0583c24依舊情塵固蔽、識鎖難開,且請按下雲頭,山僧與你J40nB494_p0583c25另有商量。何以故?不見道:換骨抽腸重整頓,通身手J40nB494_p0583c26眼更須參。」
J40nB494_p0583c27泰州強崑玉居士發願請僧檢藏三年,於啟期日請J40nB494_p0583c28上堂。「一大藏教秪說這箇雲門話墮,阿師有甚饅頭J40nB494_p0583c29䭔子?快下將來。睦州鈍置老漢,轉半藏、轉全藏,休向J40nB494_p0583c30遶一匝處分疏;是梵語、是唐言,須從五千餘卷裏定J40nB494_p0584a01當。盡謂諸佛燃慧炬以燭幽,非關文字;那知列祖駕J40nB494_p0584a02慈航而普渡,尚假言詮?但能於黃卷玉軸上捉敗古J40nB494_p0584a03人,何難大地山河不全歸自己?一塵一佛國、一葉一J40nB494_p0584a04釋迦則不問,汝諸人且淺聞深悟,深聞不悟又明甚J40nB494_p0584a05麼邊事?」良久,云:「一塵不立始歸家,纔有纖毫非眷屬。J40nB494_p0584a06親切無過演祖此語也。久立眾慈,伏惟珍重。」
J40nB494_p0584a07端午日,師付法,兩序請上堂。北來和尚問:「兄呼弟應,J40nB494_p0584a08上古風規;唱拍相隨,今時樞要。除此二途,如何道箇J40nB494_p0584a09福海無邊的句?」師云:「瞞老兄不得。」進云:「可謂掃除近J40nB494_p0584a10日門頭事,直透威音那畔機。」師云:「不信道。」進云:「幾多J40nB494_p0584a11龍象隨高步,無限香花結勝因。」師云:「笑殺靈山老漢。」J40nB494_p0584a12進云:「金圈栗棘齊拈出,荷擔堂前有後人。師云:總從J40nB494_p0584a13他腳下流出。進云:好彩不妨多。」師云:「非兄不委。」乃云:J40nB494_p0584a14「端陽令節,百草頭邊大用繁興。有向者裏道得箇應J40nB494_p0584a15時及節底句,也省得諸方老榾檛說青道黃,塗污方J40nB494_p0584a16來。設問:『如何是應時及節底句?』便云:『龍舟競彩,艾虎J40nB494_p0584a17逞威者是。』又道:『蒲劍揮空,榴火奪日者是。』若然,盡屬J40nB494_p0584a18世諦流布,天寧門下一點也用不著。那知善財童子J40nB494_p0584a19當日拈一莖便活盡天下死人?苟非入室真子,焉知J40nB494_p0584a20這點藥頭靈驗?釋尊云:『我此法印為欲利益世間故J40nB494_p0584a21說,在所游方勿妄宣傳。』諸仁要知不妄宣傳底一著J40nB494_p0584a22子麼?」驀揮拂子,云:「喚作正法眼藏也得,喚作涅槃妙J40nB494_p0584a23心亦得。有能一肩擔荷得去,不謬為天寧室中一麟J40nB494_p0584a24也。誰道法身慧命不源遠流長哉?久立眾慈,伏惟珍J40nB494_p0584a25重。」
J40nB494_p0584a26上堂。問:「三不是是箇甚麼?」師云:「劈腹剜心。」問:「如何是J40nB494_p0584a27本來面目?」師作掩耳勢,云:「莫污我耳。」問:「如何是本來J40nB494_p0584a28面目?」師云:「適纔他污我耳,如今你污你口。」僧罔措。師J40nB494_p0584a29云:「三日嗽不清。」問:「德山托缽,意旨如何?」師云:「年老成J40nB494_p0584a30精。」問:「萬法歸一,一歸何處?」師云:「甲乙丙丁,戊己庚辛。」J40nB494_p0584b01問:「如何是有句?」師卓拄杖一下。「如何是無句?」師云:「喚J40nB494_p0584b02作拄杖即錯。」「如何是如藤倚樹?」師云:「杜撰長老,如麻J40nB494_p0584b03似粟。」「樹倒藤枯,句歸何處?」師云:「獅子咬人,韓盧逐塊。」J40nB494_p0584b04「溈山呵呵大笑歸方丈,又作麼生?」師云:「禹力不到處,J40nB494_p0584b05河聲流向西。」僧便喝。師云:「虛彰聲勢。」舉:「雪峰示眾云:J40nB494_p0584b06『若論此事,如明鏡當臺,胡來胡現,漢來漢現。』玄沙出J40nB494_p0584b07眾云:『忽遇明鏡來時如何?』峰云:『胡漢俱隱。』沙云:『者老J40nB494_p0584b08漢腳跟未點地在。』峰休去。」乃云:「雪峰老不以筋骨為J40nB494_p0584b09能,縱饒玄沙逞俊,也出他範圍不得。諸人若作勝負J40nB494_p0584b10商量,未免深屈古人。且道利害在甚麼處?」良久,云:「一J40nB494_p0584b11語傷人,千刀攪腹。」
J40nB494_p0584b12上堂。問:「世尊有密語,迦葉不覆藏。如何是世尊密語?」J40nB494_p0584b13師云:「六耳不同謀。」「如何是迦葉不覆藏?」師拈拄杖,云:J40nB494_p0584b14「瞎那!」問:「終日喫飯,不曾咬著一粒米,學人今日咬著J40nB494_p0584b15一粒也。」師云:「仔細牙齒。」僧無語,師便打,乃云:「三斤麻,J40nB494_p0584b16一疋布,舊店新開,何人下顧?楊岐老子當行家,貴買J40nB494_p0584b17賤賣無回互,說甚釋迦慳、彌勒富?這裏不是生藥舖。」J40nB494_p0584b18驀拈拄杖,卓一下,云:「而今拋出在當陽,試問諸人悟J40nB494_p0584b19不悟?」眾無語,師顧左右,云:「有耳不聞,有眼難睹,三十J40nB494_p0584b20年後休叫冤苦。」擲下拄杖,歸方丈。
J40nB494_p0584b21晚參。師垂問云:「達磨西來,直指人心,見性成佛,因甚J40nB494_p0584b22演祖又道說心說性便是惡口?」一云:「但形文彩,即屬J40nB494_p0584b23染污。」師云:「祖師猶在。」進云:「一千五百人善知識,話頭J40nB494_p0584b24也不識。」師云:「人天眾前不可造次。」一云:「纔有一絲頭,J40nB494_p0584b25便是一絲頭。」師云:「大似徐六擔板。」一云:「不得春風花J40nB494_p0584b26不開,花開又被風吹落。」師云:「肯諾不得全。」一云:「金屑J40nB494_p0584b27雖貴,落眼成翳。」師云:「恁麼則達磨有過也。」進云:「卻是。」J40nB494_p0584b28師云:「莫謗他好。」一云:「好事不如無。」師云:「說到不若行J40nB494_p0584b29到。」一云:「王令稍嚴,不許攙奪行市。」師笑云:「鄭州出曹J40nB494_p0584b30門。」
J40nB494_p0584c01晚參。舉:「昔臨濟大師將涅槃時示眾云:『吾滅度後,不J40nB494_p0584c02得滅卻吾正法眼藏。』時三聖出眾云:『爭敢滅卻和尚J40nB494_p0584c03正法眼藏?』濟云:『忽有人問汝,汝作麼生?』聖便喝,濟云:J40nB494_p0584c04『誰知吾正法眼藏向瞎驢邊滅卻?』」師云:「三聖恁麼祗J40nB494_p0584c05對,因甚臨濟道正法眼向瞎驢邊滅卻?」一云:「全歸肯J40nB494_p0584c06諾。」一云:「口是禍門。」一云:「克家須是破家兒。」一云:「獅子J40nB494_p0584c07咬人,韓盧逐塊。」一云:「莫寐語。」一云:「若無舉鼎拔山力,J40nB494_p0584c08千里烏騅不易騎。」一云:「爛泥裏有刺。」一云:「祖禰不了,J40nB494_p0584c09殃及兒孫。」一云:「恩大難酬。」一云:「非但騎虎頭,亦解把J40nB494_p0584c10虎尾。」一云:「鉤在不疑之地。」一云:「只見錐頭利,不見鑿J40nB494_p0584c11頭方。」乃云:「誰知正法眼藏向瞎驢邊滅卻?臨濟大似J40nB494_p0584c12鑊湯無冷處,若非入室真子,也大難承當。諸方盡作J40nB494_p0584c13得失論量,實為深屈古人。雖然,且道:臨濟意在甚麼J40nB494_p0584c14處?」良久,云:「天堂未就,地獄先成。」
J40nB494_p0584c15上堂。「善來比丘!各依舊處著,不用老胡徵。汝得處,箇J40nB494_p0584c16箇腳跟點地,山僧更有所說,何異矢上加尖?所以古J40nB494_p0584c17德拈拄杖示眾云:『三世諸佛也恁麼,歷代祖師也恁J40nB494_p0584c18麼,天下老和尚亦恁麼。』」師驀喝一喝,云:「恁麼!恁麼!拄J40nB494_p0584c19杖有過,忽然𨁝跳上三十三天,也免後代兒孫向黑J40nB494_p0584c20山鬼窟裏地坐。」
J40nB494_p0584c21上堂。舉:「昔雲門大師因普請,拈起一橛柴示眾云:『一J40nB494_p0584c22大藏教祗說這箇。』」師云:「大小雲門漏逗不少,引得無J40nB494_p0584c23限人向這一橛頭上作窠作臼。若天寧據令而行,直J40nB494_p0584c24須趁出三門始得。後有老宿別云:『一大藏教不說這J40nB494_p0584c25箇。』既不說者箇,且道又說箇甚麼?」良久,卓拄杖一下,J40nB494_p0584c26云:「須知遠煙浪,別有好商量。」
J40nB494_p0584c27上堂。舉:「昔香嚴和尚上堂云:『若論此事,如人上樹,口J40nB494_p0584c28啣樹枝、手不攀枝、腳不踏枝,樹下忽有人問:如何是J40nB494_p0584c29祖師西來意?不對他,即違他所問;若對他,又喪身失J40nB494_p0584c30命。正當恁麼時,如何即得?』時有虎頭上座出眾云:『上J40nB494_p0585a01樹即不問,未上樹已前請和尚道。』嚴呵呵大笑。」師云:J40nB494_p0585a02「香嚴和尚向雲中設磴、空裏造橋,欲度盡天下死人,J40nB494_p0585a03又焉知法久成弊,轉令人攀躋不上?虎頭上座雖善J40nB494_p0585a04成褫,要且秪會自己機關,不解香嚴活計,苟非絕處J40nB494_p0585a05逢生的當場出手,那能同道唱和,稱妙云獨腳哉?諸J40nB494_p0585a06上座!畢竟如何是香嚴活計?」良久,云:「冷處著把火。」
J40nB494_p0585a07上堂。舉:「昔日玄沙和尚示眾云:『諸方老宿盡道接物J40nB494_p0585a08利生,忽遇三種病人,作麼生接?患盲者,拈椎豎拂他J40nB494_p0585a09不見;患聾者,語言三昧他不聞;患啞者,教他說又說J40nB494_p0585a10不出。且作麼生接?若接此人不得,佛法無靈驗。』」乃云:J40nB494_p0585a11「諸仁者!且道三種病人即今在甚麼處?」驀拈拄杖云:J40nB494_p0585a12「來也!來也!既來,作麼生說箇接的道理?」遂擲下拄杖J40nB494_p0585a13云:「點石化為金玉易,勸人除卻是非難。」
J40nB494_p0585a14六月十九日,上堂。「觀音菩薩今日向聲塵裏轉大法J40nB494_p0585a15輪,乃說偈曰:『蜀魄連宵叫,子規終夜啼。圓通門大啟,J40nB494_p0585a16何事隔雲泥?』舜若多神聞得,向前曰:『盡大地是箇圓J40nB494_p0585a17通,你也在裏許,我也在裏許,說甚麼隔與不隔?』菩薩J40nB494_p0585a18被問,直得一場懡㦬,依舊退身向普陀巖中打坐去J40nB494_p0585a19也。諸人若識是非,一切聲是佛聲。其或尚留觀聽,鼓J40nB494_p0585a20聲穿破你髑髏,莫謂天寧不曾道破好。」
J40nB494_p0585a21晚參。師問僧:「如何是父母未生前本來面目?」僧云:「不J40nB494_p0585a22會。」乃示以偈曰:「父母未生前,有箇本來面,黑豆未生J40nB494_p0585a23芽,善財尋不見。見不見,倒騎牛兮入佛殿。」僧出,師問J40nB494_p0585a24云:「本來面目你作麼生會?」僧云:「是甚麼破草鞋?」師云:J40nB494_p0585a25「有時也用得著。」僧云:「有時也用不著。」師云:「恁麼則上J40nB494_p0585a26座赤腳走也。」僧無語,師便打。
J40nB494_p0585a27上堂。「今朝六月念有六,暑氣尚炎秋未肅。無位真人J40nB494_p0585a28白汗流,面門出入忘拘束。老白拈,頻頻囑,誰人肯遭J40nB494_p0585a29你瞽惑?縱饒證據到十成,也須趁向無生國。且道因J40nB494_p0585a30甚如此?」良久,卓拄杖一下,云:「家有白澤之圖,必無如J40nB494_p0585b01是妖怪。」
J40nB494_p0585b02晚參。舉:「昔德山和尚示眾云:『山僧今夜不荅話,問話J40nB494_p0585b03者三十棒。』天寧則不然,山僧今夜要荅話,不問話者J40nB494_p0585b04三十棒,畏打者出眾相見。」良久,眾無出,師云:「是你這J40nB494_p0585b05一夥豚皮漢,不打更待何時?」遂旋風打散。
J40nB494_p0585b06因病目,上堂。舉:「昔密菴傑和尚克應菴華祖侍者,祖J40nB494_p0585b07一日問曰:『如何是正法眼?』傑云:『破砂盆。』」乃云:「傑和尚J40nB494_p0585b08等閒出一語,頓使曹山三種滲漏俱絕。是則固是,要J40nB494_p0585b09且令人難搆。今日天寧放開一線道與汝諸人相見。J40nB494_p0585b10設有問:『如何是正法眼?』但向他道箇:『害。』既是正法眼,J40nB494_p0585b11因甚卻害?不見道:未離三界外,還在五行中。」
J40nB494_p0585b12上堂。舉:「昔僧問雲門曰:『秋初夏末,前途忽有人問,教J40nB494_p0585b13學人如何祗對?』門云:『大眾退後。』僧曰:『過在甚麼處?』門J40nB494_p0585b14云:『還我九十日飯錢來。』」乃云:「雲門老漢抑捺者僧太J40nB494_p0585b15過,當時若善垂手,韶陽路上不致道絕人荒。天寧即J40nB494_p0585b16不然,或有問:『秋初夏末,前途忽有人問,如何祗對?』但J40nB494_p0585b17向他道:『善為道路。』若是箇知時識節的,自然緊峭草J40nB494_p0585b18鞋;設或遲疑……」卓拄杖,云:「莫謂天台路嶮巇,羊腸更在J40nB494_p0585b19青霄外。」
J40nB494_p0585b20晚參。師問云:「君子愛財,取之有道,因甚招寶菩薩手J40nB494_p0585b21中錠子放不下?」一云:「等箇人來。」一云:「專為流通。」一云:J40nB494_p0585b22「不妨隨分納些些。」師皆不肯。眾請師代,師云:「分付不J40nB494_p0585b23著人。」
J40nB494_p0585b24上堂。舉:「昔梵言首座示眾云:『說法有所得,為野干鳴;J40nB494_p0585b25說法無所得,乃獅子吼。諸人要識獅子吼麼?』遂大喝J40nB494_p0585b26一喝。」乃云:「語不離窠臼,焉能出蓋纏?梵言首座之謂J40nB494_p0585b27也。天寧則不然,說法有所得,為野干鳴;說法無所得,J40nB494_p0585b28乃獅子吼。諸人要識獅子吼麼?」便卓拄杖,歸方丈。
