康熙十九年臘月初五日師在龍舒白雲院受揚州J40nB494_p0541c05李都諫喬梓暨闔郡縉紳文學居士眾房耆舊及闔J40nB494_p0541c06院大眾請住天寧禪寺於次年二月十八日進寺J40nB494_p0541c07拈花庵天鏡靈璽兩和尚同李府眾護法請上堂J40nB494_p0541c08拈香云:「此一瓣香同日月之高明並乾坤之博厚J40nB494_p0541c09向爐中端為祝延J40nB494_p0541c10今上皇帝萬歲萬萬歲伏願銷鋒鑄钁折箭為薪J40nB494_p0541c11海晏清萬民樂業。」次拈香云:「此一瓣香出則為瑞為J40nB494_p0541c12處則為珍為玉奉為本府當道尊官鄉紳孝廉J40nB494_p0541c13學居士伏願身膺五福位崇三台扶社稷依闕里之J40nB494_p0541c14護佛法遵靈山之囑。」復拈香云:「此一瓣香有根有J40nB494_p0541c15無枝無葉今朝特地宣明一任人嫌饒舌專為供J40nB494_p0541c16養即此堂上先師上巨下渤老和尚用酬法乳。」斂衣J40nB494_p0541c17就座上首白椎云:「法筵龍象眾當觀第一義。」師云:「J40nB494_p0541c18跡江湖二十春歸來不覺鬢毛新殷勤說與諸仁者J40nB494_p0541c19我是昔人非昔人還有共相證明者麼請出眾相見。」J40nB494_p0541c20興教和尚出問:「據燈王座祖令孫行坐寶華床父作J40nB494_p0541c21子述如是之義久親聞向上一機如何指示?」師云J40nB494_p0541c22瞞興教不得。」進云:「和尚不得退讓人。」師云:「也須大J40nB494_p0541c23家出隻手。」進云:「與麼則扶起先師正法輪也。」師云:「J40nB494_p0541c24幸如之。」進云:「秪如臨濟昔日以兩問兩打建立黃檗J40nB494_p0541c25宗旨且道棒頭消息如何商量?」師打云:「驗在目前。」J40nB494_p0541c26:「即今和尚開堂以何法要建立先師宗旨?」師云:「J40nB494_p0541c27恁麼不領話。」進云:「可謂日月出矣爝火息矣。」師云:「J40nB494_p0541c28眾記取此一轉。」:「滹沱一派直到請問和尚J40nB494_p0541c29何是相續底句?」師云:「淵源有據。」進云:「若不上來焉知J40nB494_p0541c30端的?」師云:「端的底事作麼生?」進云:「今日可謂一彩兩J40nB494_p0542a01。」師云:「非上座不委。」進云:「靈山授記不過如此。」師云J40nB494_p0542a02謔我。」:「格外提持則不問當陽直指事如何?」師云:「J40nB494_p0542a03是武昌城裡僧。」進云:「與麼則木人起舞石女謳歌。」J40nB494_p0542a04:「且道是何曲調?」僧便喝師便打乃云:「天寧古剎J40nB494_p0542a05楚名藍乃人天普會之場亦龍象蹴踏之所過去諸J40nB494_p0542a06未來諸佛未生正當佛法委在今日且今日J40nB494_p0542a07事作麼生若向這裡道得一句便見譯經臺畔風月J40nB494_p0542a08常新大樹堂前樓閣仍舊昔本不變今亦何遷依然J40nB494_p0542a09廣大門庭真實寶所如道不得看新天寧畫蛇添足J40nB494_p0542a10去也。」驀拈拄杖卓一下:「即此便是菩提場J40nB494_p0542a11普光明殿是大安隱幢是最吉祥地故從上諸聖吹J40nB494_p0542a12大法螺擊大法鼓轉大法輪演大法要無一塵不普J40nB494_p0542a13現色身無一剎不成等正覺究極而論名雖有種種J40nB494_p0542a14而實無種種相雖有種種而性無種種諸仁達得無J40nB494_p0542a15種種性底落處則入剎那際平等三昧始知釋迦老J40nB494_p0542a16子未離兜率降王宮未出母胎度人已畢十世古J40nB494_p0542a17今始終不離於當念無邊剎海自他不隔於毫端J40nB494_p0542a18後於毫端頃不妨廣作佛事演出無量無邊不可思J40nB494_p0542a19議解脫海演出無量無邊不可思議神通海演出無J40nB494_p0542a20量無邊不可思議智慧海演出無量無邊不可思議J40nB494_p0542a21福德海乃至若慈悲若喜捨皆悉無量無邊不可思J40nB494_p0542a22於一毫頭上悉皆具足如昔華嚴會上具足優婆J40nB494_p0542a23夷得無盡藏福德門時於一小器中充足無量美味J40nB494_p0542a24飲食又如明智居士得隨意出生福德藏門時仰視J40nB494_p0542a25空中悉雨無量珍寶隨眾生心悉令滿足有如是殊J40nB494_p0542a26有如是饒益有如是靈妙有如是德用是故昔跋J40nB494_p0542a27陀尊者於晉太元間居此譯華嚴經》,感青龍使者護J40nB494_p0542a28昔年聖跡猶存及唐而孚上座亦於此講涅槃經》,J40nB494_p0542a29被禪者激發悟道今日芳名不墜諸仁者華嚴以法J40nB494_p0542a30界為宗涅槃以佛性為宗。」復卓拄杖一下:「須知法J40nB494_p0542b01佛性總不離這裡若向這裡承當得去於唱教門J40nB494_p0542b02中足可觀光若據衲僧正眼觀來猶是倚草附木漢J40nB494_p0542b03不見近代靈隱禮和尚住此山時一日示眾云:『山僧J40nB494_p0542b04自幼蓄得一箇焦尾大蟲以肉為命因甚不食自?』J40nB494_p0542b05良久:『雲門解忌口。』靈隱師翁具大慈悲故能於平J40nB494_p0542b06地上樹起屍之德荊棘裏施歃血之功美則美矣J40nB494_p0542b07奈只有本色鉗鎚未具出群作略天寧小孫則不然J40nB494_p0542b08山僧自幼蓄得一箇焦尾大蟲牙吒髿底當路踞坐J40nB494_p0542b09等閒咆哮一聲不惟風生大壑亦且威振長林若有J40nB494_p0542b10向這裡拶得一路出與伊相見山僧一期出世事畢J40nB494_p0542b11且啟後承先同心同德一句又作麼生道?」良久:「J40nB494_p0542b12憑眾手移山力扶起淮南舊剎竿。」結椎:「諦觀法王J40nB494_p0542b13法王法如是。」下座

二月十九日泰州恒明上座領山主劉忠赤居士請J40nB494_p0542b15上堂:「貧婆一飯感三天居士設齋供眾獲何利益?」J40nB494_p0542b16師云:「人人飽足觀光。」進云:「觀音菩薩買餬餅放下卻J40nB494_p0542b17是饅首。」師云:「一人傳虛萬人傳實。」進云:「打麵還他州J40nB494_p0542b18土麥唱歌須是帝鄉人。」師云:「上座還解唱也無?」進云J40nB494_p0542b19寒山逢拾得撫掌笑呵呵。」師云:「大好一場曲調。」:「J40nB494_p0542b20日上堂成露布今朝又復陞座畢竟闡何法要?」J40nB494_p0542b21:「驢鳴犬吠啟圓通。」進云:「和尚分上又作麼生?」師云J40nB494_p0542b22大慈悲菩薩。」進云:「新天寧果異諸方?」師云:「向甚處見J40nB494_p0542b23?」進云:「不因今日節餘日定難逢。」師云:「逢人但恁麼J40nB494_p0542b24。」乃云:「春日晴黃鸝鳴明明宣妙義何不著耳聽J40nB494_p0542b25得著真箇好良哉觀世音全身出荒草荒草既出J40nB494_p0542b26道觀音菩薩即今在甚麼處?」乃震威喝一喝:「的的J40nB494_p0542b27圓通門大啟誰能直踏古皇道?」

善智弘機二上座領張竹明居士請上堂:「虛空有J40nB494_p0542b29體須親證定慧無門莫妄修如何是虛空體?」師便喝J40nB494_p0542b30進云:「恁麼則人人頂𩕳具眼箇箇腳下無私去也。」J40nB494_p0542c01:「且道那裏是你住處?」進云:「萬佛樓前展大悲。」師云J40nB494_p0542c02亂統禪和如麻似粟。」進云:「和尚也不得壓良為賤。」J40nB494_p0542c03:「教休不肯休直待雨淋頭。」乃云:「天晴日頭出J40nB494_p0542c04落地下濕稱提從上來事是十分條直更說甚祖J40nB494_p0542c05意明明百草頭森羅萬象齊烜赫向道不是心不是J40nB494_p0542c06直下摟碎精靈窟你輩禪和家慣說真如般若J40nB494_p0542c07涅槃聞恁般道而不知非大似皮下無血爭如天J40nB494_p0542c08寧寺裡知事普請行者人力若非搬磚便是拽石J40nB494_p0542c09若作玄會妙會豈不孤負今朝設齋檀越?」

晚參。「春風如刀春雨如膏無陰陽地上一花開五葉J40nB494_p0542c11則不問汝且道結果自然成一句作麼生道?」眾答不J40nB494_p0542c12師代乃叉手進前云:「也不較多。」

晚參。「從上來事秪貴一切無求你若求佛佛是西天J40nB494_p0542c14老比丘你若求法法是多年破故紙大解脫人無依J40nB494_p0542c15無欲真達道者何黨何偏拽取蜀崗嶺與梅花嶺鬥J40nB494_p0542c16一下下著實直得太山墩𨁝跳上三十三天揚聲J40nB494_p0542c17高叫道:『大人具大見大智得大用。』禪和家望你匹上J40nB494_p0542c18自然不足但知得飯是米做也不枉來天寧禪床上J40nB494_p0542c19打幾箇瞌睡。」驀拈竹篦畫一下:「而今佛也法也與J40nB494_p0542c20汝一時打併卻山門前佛殿後一任東行西行豈不J40nB494_p0542c21慶快平生?」

語松素一二大師同春明葉居士請上堂:「薰風自J40nB494_p0542c23南來殿閣生微涼如何是透法身句?」師云:「雲門道底。」J40nB494_p0542c24進云:「漠漠水田飛白鷺陰陰夏木囀黃鸝。」師云:「待你J40nB494_p0542c25透得時向你道。」進云:「秪如藏身處沒蹤跡沒蹤跡處J40nB494_p0542c26莫藏身又作麼生?」師云:「須彌安鼻孔。」進云:「與麼說話J40nB494_p0542c27還當得也無?」師云:「當得當不得與上座沒交涉。」進云J40nB494_p0542c28千山勢到嶽邊止萬派聲歸海上消。」師云:「且放過汝J40nB494_p0542c29一頓。」:「向上宗乘即不問因齋慶讚事如何?」師云:「J40nB494_p0542c30間食堂裡驗取。」進云:「恁麼則大悲院裡福田廣種去J40nB494_p0543a01。」師云:「俗氣也不除。」:「萬里不掛片雲青天也須喫J40nB494_p0543a02且道是甚麼人境界?」師便棒進語稍遲師云:「牙根J40nB494_p0543a03猶帶生澀在。」乃云:「甚麼物恁麼來認著依然還不是J40nB494_p0543a04不認著則如日吐春山如月涵秋水一一文彩天然J40nB494_p0543a05處處變化靈妙直饒臨濟喝似雷奔減他威光不得J40nB494_p0543a06德山棒如雨點增他聲價不來果是作家相見只貴J40nB494_p0543a07一切臨時自然如針芥相投似水乳相合若也以語J40nB494_p0543a08言搆以寂默通則屬造作安排於吾祖道何曾夢見J40nB494_p0543a09不見雪竇和尚云:『路逢達道人不將語默對手把白J40nB494_p0543a10玉鞭驪珠盡擊碎。』看他先德與麼提唱直下如靈鋒J40nB494_p0543a11出匣凜凜神威誰敢正眼覷著而今兄弟們都是認J40nB494_p0543a12一機一境以為了當不去威音那畔認淨裸裸赤灑J40nB494_p0543a13灑底為主人公便向今世門頭目活卓卓轉轆轆為J40nB494_p0543a14祖師意炙脂帽鶻臭衫三搖兩擺脫不下欲冀宗風J40nB494_p0543a15不墜正眼流通又烏可得哉茲者承語松素一兩大J40nB494_p0543a16師同春明葉居士飯僧兼請說法故不覺叨怛如此J40nB494_p0543a17即今莫有超然獨脫底上士麼若有少間食堂裡也J40nB494_p0543a18少你這一頓不得。」

晚參。「禪不必參道何須悟悟道參禪徒成露布不露J40nB494_p0543a20家家門首長安路且道作麼生直達含元殿?」良久J40nB494_p0543a21擊竹篦一下:「回而更相涉不爾依位住。」

結夏日行白上座請上堂。「二千餘年前佛制有云:『J40nB494_p0543a23大圓覺為我伽藍身心安居平等性智。』」師乃呵呵大J40nB494_p0543a24:「釋迦老子是甚麼語話不見東山演祖云:『說心J40nB494_p0543a25說性盡是惡口何況劈頭便道箇踞菩薩乘修寂滅J40nB494_p0543a26如此提唱實情好與三十拄杖。』須知這裏則不然J40nB494_p0543a27以盡十方界為我伽藍無論眾生諸佛菩薩聲聞J40nB494_p0543a28各令他踞凡夫乘修世諦行如是則紅塵鬧市是大J40nB494_p0543a29覺場酒肆茶坊乃真解脫地何必九旬禁足三月安J40nB494_p0543a30向七間堂裏如無繩自?」驀揮拂子:「手執夜明J40nB494_p0543b01幾箇知天曉?」

端午師誕日智如副寺請上堂師乃云:「月屆蕤賓J40nB494_p0543b03臨端午是處人家懸艾虎汨羅江上競渡喧風俗傳J40nB494_p0543b04來自往古鬥龍舟撾鼉鼓五色絲兮繫角黍堪悲楚J40nB494_p0543b05大夫忠義填肺腑無端被人讒一憤投江渚世人相J40nB494_p0543b06襲弔孤忠茫茫道路稱冤苦休叫苦且聽天寧箇分J40nB494_p0543b07。」驀拈拄杖卓一下:「拄杖今朝忽降生驀劄相逢J40nB494_p0543b08不回互揮來蒲劍放出榴火直下斬斷情根燒殘識J40nB494_p0543b09更說甚忠孝賢良奸邪愚魯但我之皮既不存J40nB494_p0543b10之毛將安附阿呵呵是非從此付潺湲大喜風以時J40nB494_p0543b11雨以時逍遙樂太平大丈夫兒又何止先天為J40nB494_p0543b12心祖?」便下座

鎮江府圌山慧明大德為薦令師恒定上座請上堂J40nB494_p0543b14:「山川嶽瀆共轉根本法輪鱗甲羽毛普現色身三J40nB494_p0543b15是否?」師云:「是真語是如語。」進云:「今日和尚登曲彔J40nB494_p0543b16又舉揚何事?」師云:「不異語。」進云:「不須重說偈言。」便J40nB494_p0543b17禮拜歸眾師云:「孟八郎漢卻恁麼去也。」:「一句了然J40nB494_p0543b18超百億如何今日又重宣?」師云:「為著阿誰?」進云:「恁麼J40nB494_p0543b19則杖頭有眼分明在也。」師云:「做出便見。」:「金牛飯J40nB494_p0543b20州茶只為饑渴者秪如不饑不渴底人來作麼生接J40nB494_p0543b21?」師打云:「也少你這一頓不得。」進云:「恁麼則一眾飽J40nB494_p0543b22餐去也。」師云:「且道是何滋味?」僧便喝師又打:「釋迦J40nB494_p0543b23彌勒猶是他奴畢竟他是阿誰?」師云:「不識。」進云:「若然J40nB494_p0543b24則大千沙界任縱橫也。」師云:「且道他是阿誰?」僧喝J40nB494_p0543b25打云:「鄭州出曹門。」:「目前無法意在目前如何是目J40nB494_p0543b26前法?」師打:「棒頭有眼。」進云:「因甚隱隱猶懷舊日嫌?」J40nB494_p0543b27師云:「蒼天蒼天。」進云:「莫把是非來入耳從前知J40nB494_p0543b28為讎。」師云:「自知較一半。」師乃云:「若論本分提綱盡十J40nB494_p0543b29方界無有針鋒許不是當人真實之體有甚根塵器J40nB494_p0543b30罪行福行而不一切智智清淨古人道箇眾罪如J40nB494_p0543c01霜露慧日能消除。』屬剩語此外更有所說何異捏J40nB494_p0543c02目生花事不獲與汝箇真實指注。」驀豎拂子:「J40nB494_p0543c03只這箇名不得狀不得聖凡他不得是非他不得J40nB494_p0543c04除是絕羅籠出窠臼底衲僧向威音那畔一逴逴得J40nB494_p0543c05便轉向今世門頭大行闊步便恁麼去魔宮佛國任J40nB494_p0543c06性逍遙地獄天堂隨緣放曠自然綽綽然有餘裕J40nB494_p0543c07道今日當薦亡靈還得斷生死流踞涅槃岸也無?」J40nB494_p0543c08:「你鈍置我猶可我鈍置你太煞。」

因事示眾。「衲僧家一切時中貴乎得大通變機若不J40nB494_p0543c10則語默失靈用若不變則棒喝皆滯祖師禪諸佛J40nB494_p0543c11意皆成印板上物如何稱得箇得法自在底人而今J40nB494_p0543c12兄弟們慣刺頭向文字中求設若求得盡屬所依J40nB494_p0543c13見道:『無依無欲便是能仁。』天寧今日為汝一切掃卻J40nB494_p0543c14要伊一箇箇向壁立萬仞處豁開正眼然正眼既開J40nB494_p0543c15且道釋迦老子鼻孔長多少?」驀擲下拄杖:「有眼者J40nB494_p0543c16一時驗取。」

丁天一同弟晉紀為令先嚴常山老居士三七請對J40nB494_p0543c18靈小參。「意清淨是名佛出世意不清淨J40nB494_p0543c19名佛滅度諸仁者出世滅度則且置且道此佛畢竟J40nB494_p0543c20是何名姓作何相貌住何國土說何法要若向這裡J40nB494_p0543c21明辨得列聖叢中許汝智慧第一如其不然天寧不J40nB494_p0543c22妨以異方便開發伊威光去也。」乃豎拂子:「J40nB494_p0543c23人群生類盡向拂子頭上降生也住世也轉大法輪J40nB494_p0543c24入般涅槃也雖年代長遠世界闊狹總不離一剎J40nB494_p0543c25那際三昧而今兄弟們不諳此旨便云:『此佛非釋迦J40nB494_p0543c26非彌勒非藥師非彌陀乃是當人本源自性之天真J40nB494_p0543c27佛也。』癡人你纔說箇本源說箇自性早不天真如何J40nB494_p0543c28合他古轍去又有者道:『此佛為毘盧師為法身主J40nB494_p0543c29且名不得狀不得。』癡人你纔說箇名不得狀不得J40nB494_p0543c30是模擬他表顯他欲窺他本來面目猶隔羅縠在J40nB494_p0544a01見玄沙云:『直饒如秋潭月影靜夜鐘聲隨扣擊以無J40nB494_p0544a02觸波瀾而不散猶是生死岸頭事。』你看今日當薦J40nB494_p0544a03常山居士其生也如寄則視富貴如浮雲其死也如J40nB494_p0544a04則等身命如幻泡苟非承此佛恩力何能於生死J40nB494_p0544a05關頭如賈胡傳吏去則去留則留無絲毫驚異無絲J40nB494_p0544a06毫罣礙今朝是伊三七之辰令嗣伯仲特請山僧舉J40nB494_p0544a07以證居士腳跟下與釋迦老子不別底一段大事J40nB494_p0544a08因緣如是則無憂樹下不為生熙連河側不為死J40nB494_p0544a09無生又無死則盡十方界是箇平等大解脫場且道J40nB494_p0544a10當薦常山居士一靈真性畢竟何依?」良久:「將覲千J40nB494_p0544a11華臺上佛戒光隨處自嚴身。」

解夏日兩序執事請上堂古人道:「有一人常在途J40nB494_p0544a13不離家舍有一人常在家舍不離途中途中家舍J40nB494_p0544a14則且止解夏一句作麼生?」師云:「切忌亂走。」進云:「恁麼J40nB494_p0544a15則楖栗橫肩穿市過芒鞋足底任縱橫。」師云:「因甚不J40nB494_p0544a16領話?」進云:「秪如今日常住設齋兩序啟請畢竟功歸J40nB494_p0544a17阿誰?」師云:「不堪側耳。」乃云:「今朝七月十五日天寧解J40nB494_p0544a18夏底時節衲僧隊隊競頭奔竹杖芒鞋誇猛烈這山J40nB494_p0544a19望著那山高只為狂心曾未歇忽然歇家家門鎖蟾J40nB494_p0544a20蜍月雖然忽有箇逐塊禪和出來問:『月聻?』只向他道J40nB494_p0544a21你且放下腰包過了七月八月九月十月我緩緩底J40nB494_p0544a22為你說。』或者道:『長老因甚放這長馬線?』不見古人云J40nB494_p0544a23佛法無多子久長難得人。』」

上堂:「古昔阿難問迦葉尊者云:『師兄世尊付金襴J40nB494_p0544a25袈裟外別傳箇甚麼?』者喚阿難難應諾者云:『倒卻門J40nB494_p0544a26前剎竿著。』」乃云:「阿難有法身可獲尚落途中迦葉有J40nB494_p0544a27剎竿可倒未到家裡天寧不相他含五說六待阿難J40nB494_p0544a28:『世尊付金襴袈裟外別傳箇甚麼?』便痛棒趁出J40nB494_p0544a29免得倚他門戶傍他墻剛被世人喚作郎。」

早參。「夜來雨淋淋滴碎劫前心無限癡禪客特地苦J40nB494_p0544b01相尋休更尋。」驀攛竹篦:「處處彌陀佛家家觀世音。」

中秋示眾。「月宮天子今夜為諸人說法了也若向這J40nB494_p0544b07裏見得則全體清淨全體光明全體淨光無礙以這J40nB494_p0544b08淨光無礙底含養萬物亭毒四生乃至若草木若禽J40nB494_p0544b09無不藉其成立肯效他馬家父子單單為著箇自J40nB494_p0544b10說供養說修行縱饒南泉拂袖便行腳跟終未點J40nB494_p0544b11地在那堪憐兒不覺醜底道箇經入藏禪歸海惟有J40nB494_p0544b12普願獨超物外。』剌剌恁麼說話明眼人前當不得J40nB494_p0544b13一唾今夜實情說向你一痕未吐千聖罔測其由J40nB494_p0544b14五正圓萬象莫逃其質此猶是明昧兩岐要知獨脫J40nB494_p0544b15無依普請大眾不如一齊歸去好。」

晚參。「一念不生非普賢安身處諸塵競起乃文殊大J40nB494_p0544b17神通無位真人來也道一切聲是佛聲一切色是佛J40nB494_p0544b18無端拈起鞏縣茶瓶卻是饒州磁碗十字街頭李J40nB494_p0544b19阿大慣打過人頭底脫空你禪和子尋常說的禪道J40nB494_p0544b20佛法向他分上一點用不著且作麼生使箇伎倆令J40nB494_p0544b21他納款歸降去若也使得東海鯉魚是無邊身菩薩J40nB494_p0544b22其或未然且待帝釋宮中放赦書時款款底與你商J40nB494_p0544b23。」
