J37nB386_p0348b04順治辛丑夏六月,師從神鼎入覲天童,適當山和尚J37nB386_p0348b05退休西巖,籓侯田護法、洎闔郡紳士輓師繼席,于七J37nB386_p0348b06月初二日受請主院事。
J37nB386_p0348b07佛殿。「佛之一字,吾不喜聞,耳不著水,眼不受塵。新長J37nB386_p0348b08老則不然,若不入水,爭見長人?」
J37nB386_p0348b09伽藍。「江上清風,山間明月,取用不竭,皆常住物。」
J37nB386_p0348b10祖堂。「虎嘯巖前,猿啼木末。豎拂拈槌,打作兩橛。」
J37nB386_p0348b11據室。拈拄杖,云:「猛虎口中奪雀,獅子項下解鈴,新長J37nB386_p0348b12老不作者般伎倆,只要斷人命根。」卓一卓。
J37nB386_p0348b13拈疏。「真諦俗諦,一狀領過。毛錐未拈,文彩全露。必欲J37nB386_p0348b14重宣,勞煩佐助。」
J37nB386_p0348b15法座。「大座當軒,孰敢窺覷?新長老到來時如何?雷送J37nB386_p0348b16遊龍,風搏妙翅。」
J37nB386_p0348b17拈香。「此一瓣香,至尊無對,至貴難名,爇向爐中,耑為J37nB386_p0348b18今上皇帝祝延聖躬萬歲萬萬歲,伏願道光寰海,德J37nB386_p0348b19朗太虛,睿算等於芥城,金甌固乎磐石。」次拈香。「此一J37nB386_p0348b20瓣香,奉為滿朝勳貴、闔國公孤、今辰請主在筵檀護,J37nB386_p0348b21伏願致君澤民,永沛邦家霖雨,輔宗護教,常涌菩薩J37nB386_p0348b22身雲。」又拈香。「此一瓣香,得處辛酸,用時毒烈,當年一J37nB386_p0348b23椎下翻身,今朝第二回拈出,爇向爐中,供養即此堂J37nB386_p0348b24上弘覺禪師、山翁老和尚,用酬法乳之恩。」斂衣趺坐。J37nB386_p0348b25五磊和尚白椎,云:「法筵龍象眾,當觀第一義。」師云:「若J37nB386_p0348b26論第一義,白椎前觀略差一線,白椎後觀已遲八刻,J37nB386_p0348b27還有二途不涉、中道不存者麼?出來互相激揚。」問:「風J37nB386_p0348b28行艸偃,水到渠成,師資契合則不問,斬新條令事如J37nB386_p0348b29何?」師云:「天無私蓋。」進云:「當軒寶鑑輝今古,袖裏金鎚J37nB386_p0348b30驗正邪。」師打,云:「少你者棒不得。」問:「高提祖印則不問,J37nB386_p0348c01人天交接事如何?」師云:「虛空齊合掌,大地盡揚眉。」進J37nB386_p0348c02云:「如何是賓中賓?」師云:「逢人青眼少,問路白雲多。」進J37nB386_p0348c03云:「如何是賓中主?」師云:「一劍霜寒十四州。」進云:「如何J37nB386_p0348c04是主中賓?」師云:「漢高赴會在鴻門。」進云:「如何是主中J37nB386_p0348c05主?」師云:「千輻金輪運四天。」進云:「賓主已蒙師指示,三J37nB386_p0348c06臺須是大家催。」師云:「且款款。」乃云:「池懸雙鏡,真照無J37nB386_p0348c07方;橋鎖清關,沿流不止。所以,佛佛授手,祖祖相傳,莫J37nB386_p0348c08不於此丁一、卓二、放兩、拋三,用陷虎機關,弄白拈手J37nB386_p0348c09腳,提破沙盆,滅正法眼,發棒頭燄,續不盡燈,直得如J37nB386_p0348c10日普照、如雨普滋,頓使三艸二木發劫前春色,十虛J37nB386_p0348c11三際露本地風光。不見道:一毫現神變,一切佛同說,J37nB386_p0348c12經於無量時,不得其邊際。有時現賓,則周遊湖海,要J37nB386_p0348c13且不離家舍;有時示主,則坐斷乾坤,何妨混跡類中?J37nB386_p0348c14正當符到令行,不涉化門一句作麼生道?但見皇風J37nB386_p0348c15成一片,不知何處是封疆?」謝詞不錄。復舉:「僧問投子:J37nB386_p0348c16『如何是一大事因緣?』子云:『尹司空請老僧開堂。』佛果J37nB386_p0348c17拈云:『投子古佛叢林,推其得逸群之令,朴實頭道用,J37nB386_p0348c18看其等閒拈掇,不妨世法佛法打成一片,惜乎不甚J37nB386_p0348c19寬廓。有問天寧:「如何是一大事因緣?」但向他道:「手握J37nB386_p0348c20金輪清四海,聖躬彌億萬斯年。」』堂上老人云:『佛果老J37nB386_p0348c21漢眼蓋五天、胸羅萬有,究其生平施設,出一言、行一J37nB386_p0348c22令,直得上窮圓蓋、下徹風輪。山僧不是抑他威光,細J37nB386_p0348c23簡此語,未免碌碌因人成事。設有問道峰:「如何是一J37nB386_p0348c24大事因緣?」但向道:「數聲黃鳥青山外,占斷風光作主J37nB386_p0348c25人。」』」師云:「三大老相席打令,各展家風,可謂一步高一J37nB386_p0348c26步、一浪闊一浪。若是新長老又不然,有問:『如何是一J37nB386_p0348c27大事因緣?』但向他道:『雲開日現人人見,水到渠成處J37nB386_p0348c28處通。』」復白椎云:「諦觀法王法,法王法如是。」師卓拄杖,J37nB386_p0348c29下座。
J37nB386_p0348c30當晚,小參。問:「神鋒在握,不礙析事析理;寶鑑當軒,何J37nB386_p0349a01妨說境說心?皇風成一片,何處別封疆?如何是天童J37nB386_p0349a02境?」師云:「玲瓏巖秀名垂世,太白峰高翠插天。」進云:「孤J37nB386_p0349a03光吞萬象,照盡體無依。如何是境中人?」師云:「鳳舞龍J37nB386_p0349a04翔林下士,銅頭銕額野盤僧。」進云:「箇裏絕消息,一味J37nB386_p0349a05總成真。如何是人中意?」師云:「舉目頓令三界靜,振鈴J37nB386_p0349a06還使八荒歸。」乃云:「湘南犁耙未辭肩,浙左芒繩又被J37nB386_p0349a07牽,既爾業緣無避處,搖頭擺腦也徒然。事到如此,寧J37nB386_p0349a08容推托?只得打起脊項、硬著蹄角,先將東山下左邊J37nB386_p0349a09底一犁翻轉,南山北嶺松、北嶺南山艸次第耕來,無J37nB386_p0349a10論祖翁家業、自己田園、墻外底、屋角頭,便是大地虛J37nB386_p0349a11空、日月星辰、艸木叢林也要一齊翻遍,直得上無可J37nB386_p0349a12遮、下無可障,自然處處發生、般般成熟,管取三十年J37nB386_p0349a13後粥足飯足,誰問廬陵米價、山前麥熟?或有箇禪和J37nB386_p0349a14子道:『僼長老!千年田、八百主,要你著許多死力作麼?』J37nB386_p0349a15山僧不覺呵呵大笑。且道笑箇什麼?古今無限癡獃J37nB386_p0349a16子,惟有我儂獃得親。」
J37nB386_p0349a17師省天童,途次長沙萬福院,上堂。問:「遠辭青嶂,乍出J37nB386_p0349a18長沙,未審此處彼處佛法的的事如何?」師云:「有水皆J37nB386_p0349a19含月,無山不帶雲。」進云:「可謂處處綠楊堪繫馬,家家J37nB386_p0349a20門首透長安。」師云:「相隨來也。」進云:「古者道:『我向南方J37nB386_p0349a21行腳一遭,拄杖頭不曾撥著一箇。』為復當機放過?還J37nB386_p0349a22是太殺孤高?」師云:「一狀領過。」進云:「今日和尚道遍湖J37nB386_p0349a23南,拄杖頭還曾撥著一箇也無?」師云:「單不打死漢。」僧J37nB386_p0349a24禮拜,云:「不因躡足龍門過,爭得清風動地生?」師打,云:J37nB386_p0349a25「喫得棒也。」乃以拂子打圓相,云:「三世諸佛向者裏鑽J37nB386_p0349a26不入,一切眾生向者裏跳不出。若也跳得出,眾生即J37nB386_p0349a27非眾生,未免心外有法;若也鑽得入,諸佛即非諸佛,J37nB386_p0349a28要且心法不周。既跳不出,又鑽不入,所以諸佛不加J37nB386_p0349a29增、眾生不加減,一道平等,浩然大均,不必續鳧截鶴、J37nB386_p0349a30夷嶽盈壑,自然處谷滿谷、在阬滿阬,長者長法身、短J37nB386_p0349b01者短法身。然雖如是,未出教乘,網底游魚,龍門難躍。」J37nB386_p0349b02拈拄杖,云:「爭似者條拄杖子,峭巍巍、活卓卓,入則不J37nB386_p0349b03居陰界、出則不涉眾緣,隨處作主,遇緣即宗,於法自J37nB386_p0349b04在,得大安樂。有時向銕壁銀山撥開一線、有時向平J37nB386_p0349b05田淺艸把斷要津,今日卓向鬧市場中,雖則拖泥帶J37nB386_p0349b06水,要且艸偃風行,普令一切人見所未見、聞所未聞。」J37nB386_p0349b07卓一下,云:「還委悉麼?萬福光中圓聖智,一毫頭上定J37nB386_p0349b08淆訛。」
J37nB386_p0349b09大通禪院修定禪人請上堂。問:「四眾臨筵即不問,大J37nB386_p0349b10啟玄關事若何?」師云:「鷓鴣啼處百花香。」進云:「古者通J37nB386_p0349b11『逢人則不出,出則便為人。』意旨如何?」師云:「波斯不戴J37nB386_p0349b12帽。」進云:「又有道:『逢人即便出,出則不為人。』又作麼生?」J37nB386_p0349b13師云:「小兒不著鞋。」乃云:「若論舉揚宗教,第一句下薦J37nB386_p0349b14得,堪與佛祖為師;第二句下薦得,堪與人天為師;第J37nB386_p0349b15三句下薦得,自救不了。猿啼嶽麓,漁唱瀟湘,嫩柳搖J37nB386_p0349b16金,寒梅吐玉,是第二句;風宣萬偈非干舌,月寫千身J37nB386_p0349b17不用媒,是第三句。若待撾動法鼓,鼓動唇皮,道箇紅J37nB386_p0349b18塵鬧市,古佛家風,柳巷花街,衲僧活計,是多少節文J37nB386_p0349b19了也。且道畢竟如何是第一句?」良久,云:「豈不見鹿苑J37nB386_p0349b20和尚云:『我欲舉揚宗教,法堂前艸深一丈。抑不得已,J37nB386_p0349b21向你道:「盡大地是般若光。」光未發時,無佛無眾生消J37nB386_p0349b22息,山河大地甚處得來?要知麼?不離當處常湛然,覓J37nB386_p0349b23則知君不可見。』」
J37nB386_p0349b24師到溈山,慧山和尚請上堂。展拂子云:「秖者箇父子J37nB386_p0349b25激揚,建溈仰宗旨;主賓敲唱,展臨濟家風;叔姪酬酢,J37nB386_p0349b26啟二甘露門;作家相見,振三玄戈甲。是以在佛祖則J37nB386_p0349b27為標為準,立機用則全放全收。發明恁麼事,須是恁J37nB386_p0349b28麼人,交為肘臂,別轉旂鎗,戈揮佛日於將暗之秋,力J37nB386_p0349b29震法雷於絕響之際。牛頭沒,馬頭回,恰恰暗機旋合;J37nB386_p0349b30左手抬,右手搦,堂堂大用當前。撒開優缽華泉,普使J37nB386_p0349c01三艸二木咸發劫前春色;坐斷毘盧峰月,頓令六欲J37nB386_p0349c02四禪悉耀箇裏輝光。一一闡佛祖大猷,頭頭作人天J37nB386_p0349c03正眼。所謂法不孤起,仗境方生;道不虛行,乘時濟物。J37nB386_p0349c04遇其人則拈出,逢其機則提持。正恁麼時,且道提持J37nB386_p0349c05箇甚麼?當陽已睹真消息,不必重宣正脈通。」
J37nB386_p0349c06師到德山,竹帆和尚請上堂。問:「德山棒、臨濟喝,撥置J37nB386_p0349c07一邊;雲門餅、趙州茶,不須拈出。即今弟兄敲唱、叔姪J37nB386_p0349c08激揚,成得什麼邊事?」師云:「碁逢敵手著方妙,琴遇知J37nB386_p0349c09音正好彈。」進云:「恁麼則八十七燈重剔起,家聲從此J37nB386_p0349c10布闇浮。」師云:「贊歎有分。」進云:「昔日楊岐和尚陞座,九J37nB386_p0349c11峰禪師把住云:『且喜今日得箇同參。』未審是抬?是搦?」J37nB386_p0349c12師云:「一狀領過。」進云:「岐便問:『作麼生是同參事?』峰云:J37nB386_p0349c13『楊岐拖犁,九峰拽耙。』意旨如何?」師云:「焦磚打著連底J37nB386_p0349c14凍。」進云:「岐云:『正恁麼時,楊岐在前?九峰在前?』峰無語,J37nB386_p0349c15岐拓開云:『將謂同參,元來不是。』且道得失在什麼處?」J37nB386_p0349c16師云:「赤眼撞著火柴頭。」進云:「今日有人問和尚:『作麼J37nB386_p0349c17生是同參事?』又且如何?」師云:「寒山拍手拾得笑。」乃橫J37nB386_p0349c18按拄杖云:「者條拄杖子,當年見性老人拈來,於此敲J37nB386_p0349c19骨打髓、揮霍自由,說甚五谿風月、三楚煙雲?直得九J37nB386_p0349c20州四海、五嶽三山、艸木昆蟲同轉根本法輪,乃至百J37nB386_p0349c21億浮幢王剎,乃佛、乃祖,若聖、若凡,無不望風乞命,迄J37nB386_p0349c22至於今,威靈赫赫,誰敢當前?今日不肖遠來,特瞻遺J37nB386_p0349c23範,荷蒙竹帆法兄之命,陞於此座,搖唇鼓舌,說黃道J37nB386_p0349c24黑,大似布鼓雷門、耀螢日下。雖然,一番提起,一度增J37nB386_p0349c25新;一度用來,一番光燄。不必別彰風彩,略露就裏機J37nB386_p0349c26權。」驀豎拄杖,云:「大眾!若向者裏薦得,管取如龍得水、J37nB386_p0349c27似虎靠山,處處斬釘截銕、著著邁古超今。與麼直截J37nB386_p0349c28痛快,好與三十棒。」復亞拄杖,云:「若向者裏翻身,一似J37nB386_p0349c29俊鷹脫絆、良驥追風,處處有出身之路、頭頭得自在J37nB386_p0349c30之機。有如是作略,也好與三十棒。」放下拄杖,良久,云:J37nB386_p0350a01「若向者裏知歸,如壯士展臂,不假他力;師子遊行,不J37nB386_p0350a02求伴侶。有如是標格,也好與三十棒。大眾!神鼎峰前J37nB386_p0350a03一向鍼拶不入,今於德山堂上因甚與麼狼籍?」呵呵J37nB386_p0350a04大笑,云:「酒逢知己飲,詩向會人吟。」
J37nB386_p0350a05德山語嵩和尚就本山追嚴,請上堂。「母囓指,子傷心,J37nB386_p0350a06天雨而礎潤,日暈而風生。且道相去多少?子築腳,父J37nB386_p0350a07生天,葵花向日而傾,芭蕉聞雷而長。且道還有同別J37nB386_p0350a08也無?即今座前當山禪師身為知識,且道從本爺娘J37nB386_p0350a09居何報土?諸仁者!若也知得落處,不妨道箇南斗七、J37nB386_p0350a10北斗八;其或未然,打葛藤謾汝諸人去也。豈不見教J37nB386_p0350a11中道:輪轉三界中,恩愛不能捨,棄恩入無為,真是報J37nB386_p0350a12恩者。此我語,嵩法姪是其人也。所以裂世網於青年、J37nB386_p0350a13受鉗鎚於作者,乃至入廛垂手、接物利生,一一離見J37nB386_p0350a14超情、著著知源識委,可謂水銀墮地,點點皆圓;杲日J37nB386_p0350a15當天,塵塵普照。豈止今生父母?縱饒歷劫雙親一時J37nB386_p0350a16報復。然既有如是奇特,因甚卻要山僧饒舌?更聽一J37nB386_p0350a17偈:天地同根本合芳,一家有事百家忙,連城著彩雖J37nB386_p0350a18多事,錦上添花又不妨。」
J37nB386_p0350a19中秋,上堂。問:「萬里無雲,一輪如洗,還有過也無?」師云:J37nB386_p0350a20「有。」進云:「過在什麼處?」師云:「澄潭不許蒼龍蟠。」乃云:「月J37nB386_p0350a21圓當戶,無心照物而物色自明;桂放高嵒,無意吹香J37nB386_p0350a22而香風自遠。所以道:萬法本閒,惟人自鬧;時節若至,J37nB386_p0350a23其理自彰。無奈江西父子避影逃形、山谷師資承虛J37nB386_p0350a24接響,致使鼻孔失卻半邊、腳跟不得點地,未免辜負J37nB386_p0350a25嫦娥十分光彩、蹉跎林主百倍精神。眾中還有超宗J37nB386_p0350a26越格為古人雪屈者麼?」良久,拍禪床,云:「但能仙桂和J37nB386_p0350a27根拔,誰怕清光蓋眼睛?」
J37nB386_p0350a28開爐,上堂。問:「但有言說,都無實義,屏卻之乎者也,請J37nB386_p0350a29師暗機圓合。」師云:「屏卻咽喉唇吻問將來。」僧左畫一J37nB386_p0350a30圓相,云:「且道是什麼意旨?」師拂卻。僧右畫一圓相,云:J37nB386_p0350b01「且道是什麼意旨?」師以拂子橫畫十字。進云:「恁麼則J37nB386_p0350b02左右逢源,前後際斷,向上還有事也無?」師云:「有。」進云:J37nB386_p0350b03「若不出來伸此問,爭識天童上上機?」師打,云:「莫塗污J37nB386_p0350b04好。」問:「向上宗乘即不問,開爐一句請師宣。」師云:「烈燄J37nB386_p0350b05光中飛彩鳳。」進云:「開爐一句蒙師指,向上宗乘事若J37nB386_p0350b06何?」師云:「華鍼眼裏度金鵬。」乃云:「天童舊家火爐,深廣J37nB386_p0350b07不可名模,說甚一尺一丈、九州四海五湖、十虛三際J37nB386_p0350b08無欠,聖凡一道齊敷,死灰撥出光燄,燎卻百億彌盧。J37nB386_p0350b09所以道:寒則普天匝地寒,熱則普天匝地熱。三世諸J37nB386_p0350b10佛忍俊不禁,向此火燄中轉大法輪,直得地曠人稀,J37nB386_p0350b11相逢者少,火燄卻為三世諸佛說法,三世諸佛立地J37nB386_p0350b12聽,示現廣長舌相,迥絕邊表,卻與僼長老拄杖高而J37nB386_p0350b13無上。」拈拄杖,卓一卓,云:「且道說箇甚麼?若將耳聽終J37nB386_p0350b14難會,眼裏聞來始是親。雖然,末後一機猶未道著。要J37nB386_p0350b15知麼?換骨洗腸重整頓,一回入水見長人。」
J37nB386_p0350b16上堂。問:「群陰剝盡一陽還,化日新添一線長。化日添J37nB386_p0350b17長則且置……」提起坐具云:「且道者箇長多少?」師云:「十萬J37nB386_p0350b18八千。」進云:「昔有僧問古德,古德云:『長一線。』是同?是別?」J37nB386_p0350b19師云:「江南地煖,塞北天寒。」進云:「又有古德道:『一線長。』J37nB386_p0350b20又作麼生?」師云:「兩口無一舌。」乃云:「七日來復,各歸至J37nB386_p0350b21盡之本;一陽生起,聿見天地之心。天心既見,萬物資J37nB386_p0350b22始,岸容待臘,柳眼將甦,山意衝寒,梅腮欲吐,律管飛J37nB386_p0350b23灰已動,簾櫳化日舒長。當是時也,玉泉布褌赫赤赤,J37nB386_p0350b24不風流處也風流;慈明揭榜笑呵呵,有意氣時添意J37nB386_p0350b25氣。當知衲僧門下通變之方、化裁之玅,一一應時及J37nB386_p0350b26節,頭頭轉地旋天。所以木禪頭把住,能為萬象主,不J37nB386_p0350b27逐四時凋;宗上座放開,隨流認得性,無喜亦無憂。」
J37nB386_p0350b28晚參。「如來無二種語。二種語者:一名離間、二名和合。J37nB386_p0350b29無此二者,名如來語。何名離間語?能聽法者雖願樂J37nB386_p0350b30聽受,而所說法者不為開示,是名離間語。秖如藥山J37nB386_p0350c01久不上堂,纔請陞座,便歸方丈。且道:為開示?不為開J37nB386_p0350c02示?若道為開示,開示箇什麼?若道不為開示,參學眼J37nB386_p0350c03在什麼處?能說法者雖樂開示,而聽法者不樂聽受,J37nB386_p0350c04亦名離間語。秖如丹霞鏟艸,石頭欲為說戒,丹霞掩J37nB386_p0350c05耳而去。且道:樂聽受?不樂聽受?若道樂聽受,因甚掩J37nB386_p0350c06耳?若道不樂聽受,參學眼在什麼處?雖說,無有能說J37nB386_p0350c07可說;雖聽,無有能聽可聽得。如是者,方名和合語。和J37nB386_p0350c08合語則且置,秖如二尊宿與麼激揚,作何判斷?道是J37nB386_p0350c09離間語,則深屈二尊宿;不是離間語,則教有明文。如J37nB386_p0350c10何銷繳?和合又和合不得,莫是祖師門下教排不到,J37nB386_p0350c11三賢未曉、十聖罔知,五眼莫能睹、二聽莫能聞麼?素J37nB386_p0350c12非此理。既非此理,畢竟如何?不見道:無此二者,名如J37nB386_p0350c13來語。然則天童者裏又且不然,有時離間也得、有時J37nB386_p0350c14和合也得,只是不許如來語。何也?有時離間,要且風J37nB386_p0350c15雲際會、水乳同源,木人把板雲中拍,石女銜笙水底J37nB386_p0350c16吹;有時和合,要且南山起雲、北山下雨,靈苗瑞艸和J37nB386_p0350c17根拔,遍界從教荊棘生。恁麼看來,和合又不成和合、J37nB386_p0350c18離間又不是離間,二邊俱不立,中道亦不存。阿呵呵!J37nB386_p0350c19從教疑殺天下人。」
J37nB386_p0350c20上堂。問:「和尚昨晚所示,某甲不無疑著。」師云:「不妨疑J37nB386_p0350c21著。」進云:「藥山不上堂,固非離間語,便歸方丈,意旨如J37nB386_p0350c22何?」師云:「疏田不貯水,龍王爭奈何?」進云:「恁麼卻成離J37nB386_p0350c23間語也。」師云:「聽事不真,喚鐘作瓮。」進云:「丹霞掩耳又J37nB386_p0350c24作麼生?」師云:「不貪香餌味,可謂碧潭龍。」進云:「與麼則J37nB386_p0350c25是和合語也。」師云:「罕逢穿耳客,多見刻舟人。」進云:「畢J37nB386_p0350c26竟如何是如來語?」師云:「松嶴出苔菜,丘隘好米塊。」進J37nB386_p0350c27云:「秖如和尚今日樂上堂,大眾樂聽受,名什麼語?」師J37nB386_p0350c28云:「二般皆可口,一頓便忘饑。」進云:「明眼宗師,天然不J37nB386_p0350c29同。」師云:「我與你有甚冤讎?」乃豎拂子,云:「大眾看看,舜J37nB386_p0350c30若多神於此拂子頭上現身說法,不動咽喉唇吻,其J37nB386_p0351a01聲如雷,道:『心同虛空界,示等虛空法,證得虛空時,無J37nB386_p0351a02是無非法。』跋難陀龍王於叫不應山中得聞此音,身J37nB386_p0351a03心踊躍,把東海鯉魚打一棒,雨似盆傾,無根樹子忽J37nB386_p0351a04地華開,阿律那尊者忍俊不禁,呵呵大笑。且道笑箇J37nB386_p0351a05什麼?臨朕碪,井底種林檎,今年桃李貴,一顆值千金。J37nB386_p0351a06大眾!是什麼語話?」擲拂子,呵呵大笑,下座。
J37nB386_p0351a07弘覺老和尚得樹根香爐賜供法座,上堂。「秖者箇不J37nB386_p0351a08從模子裏脫出,亦非古廟裏得來,心空而不假雕鐫,J37nB386_p0351a09體妙而天然成現,班輸無以運其巧,郢匠無以試其J37nB386_p0351a10能,造化莫測其端倪,聖賢莫知其神變,雲埋霧隱,殘J37nB386_p0351a11朽何殊?雪拉霜摧,堅貞自異,皮膚脫落盡,枝葉總不J37nB386_p0351a12存,淨裸裸、赤灑灑,通身覿露,屈盤盤、輪菌菌,文彩縱J37nB386_p0351a13橫,詢知格外之全材,實非人間之小器。雖然,中郎未J37nB386_p0351a14遇,還同野舍之薪;張華不逢,誰識拂牛之氣?一旦親J37nB386_p0351a15承明眼,十分無地囊藏,起之於巖崖雲壑之間、置之J37nB386_p0351a16於人天廣座之上,精華煥發,靈妙天生,九鼎失其尊、J37nB386_p0351a17三台失其貴,黃鍾不能擬其用、大呂不能當其機,直J37nB386_p0351a18饒棒如龍、拂如電且不能攙其前,言如槊、語如鋒且J37nB386_p0351a19不能越其後,只消得紫檀三片、一縷青煙,任是黃面J37nB386_p0351a20老子、碧眼胡僧總被伊穿卻鼻孔,自餘之輩何足論J37nB386_p0351a21量?大眾,一切人鼻孔被伊穿卻,且道他底鼻孔什麼J37nB386_p0351a22人穿?」良久,作拈香勢,云:「放過不可。」
J37nB386_p0351a23說戒,上堂。「奇怪學般若諸菩薩不憤不啟、不悱不發,J37nB386_p0351a24昨晚夢閱《傳燈》,見一尊宿云:『一二三四五,任君顛倒J37nB386_p0351a25舉,露柱與燈籠,何曾成佛祖?』忽見燈籠、露柱在傍,不J37nB386_p0351a26甘道:『情與無情皆可入無餘涅槃,因甚我輩獨無分?J37nB386_p0351a27可謂皮下無血。』燈籠便乃發心參禪,而心華頓發;露J37nB386_p0351a28柱即時發心持戒,而戒體親證。兩下無著歡喜處,擬J37nB386_p0351a29欲各據師席求印可於拄杖,拄杖云:『善哉!燈籠從來J37nB386_p0351a30有竅,不妨參得禪;露柱一向條直,不妨持得戒,只是J37nB386_p0351b01相離不得。露柱若無燈籠,未免暗地裏撞頭磕額;燈J37nB386_p0351b02籠若無露柱,未免冷地裏東拋西擲。不見道:戒是佛J37nB386_p0351b03行,禪是佛心。戒緩乘急,有眼無足;戒急乘緩,有足無J37nB386_p0351b04眼。乘戒俱備,方可紹隆佛種、儀範人天。』說到者裏,俄J37nB386_p0351b05然天雨四華、地搖六震,拂子覷見,不覺失口道:『阿㖿!J37nB386_p0351b06㖿!阿㖿㖿!漏洩天機無覓處,只緣露柱挂燈籠。』又動J37nB386_p0351b07地雨華,遂爾驚覺。於今青天白日,露柱、燈籠無著慚J37nB386_p0351b08惶,拄杖、拂子亦無著慚惶,現前諸菩薩眾亦無著慚J37nB386_p0351b09惶。諸菩薩眾若肯慚惶,卻有箇好處。且道:好在什麼J37nB386_p0351b10處?夢覺覺非,復有何事?」
J37nB386_p0351b11高發菴居士為母太夫人六旬壽誕,請上堂。問:「如何J37nB386_p0351b12是不壞金剛之身?」師云:「臘月蓮花火裏生。」進云:「庭柏J37nB386_p0351b13蒼蒼千古秀,嶺梅昨夜燦新枝。」師云:「且喜領話。」進云:J37nB386_p0351b14「今朝慶壽,齋家未審如何祝贊?」師云:「連城不用重加J37nB386_p0351b15彩。」乃云:「三佛地頭人再來,蓮花臘月火中開,千年謾J37nB386_p0351b16說優曇瑞,劫外春光映九垓。火中蓮萼、劫外春光,非J37nB386_p0351b17聖量之所知,豈凡情之可測?所以,一雙孤雁撲地高J37nB386_p0351b18飛,兩隻鴛鴦池邊獨立,作為丈夫之事,不越香閣之J37nB386_p0351b19間,雖居華膴之家,脫略塵勞之外,鉛華洗盡三春色,J37nB386_p0351b20本來面目元真,霜磬敲殘萬壑冰,物外煙嵐迥秀,春J37nB386_p0351b21秋不涉、甲子難推,說甚大壽三千、小壽八百,直與虛J37nB386_p0351b22空同算、大地齊年。」以拂子畫一畫,云:「秖如黃龍問空J37nB386_p0351b23室道人:『一雨普滋,根莖有異,無陰陽地上生箇什麼?』J37nB386_p0351b24空室云:『一花五葉。』大眾!既無陰陽,一華五葉又如何J37nB386_p0351b25生?還委悉麼?仙家不會論冬夏,石爛松枯當一年。」
J37nB386_p0351b26元旦,上堂。「熙熙化日自成康,海晏河清大吉昌,何幸J37nB386_p0351b27又逢斯盛世,爐煙應祝到無疆。」復云:「新年頭還有佛J37nB386_p0351b28法麼?鏡清道有,三陽開泰家家偶;明教道無,萬物咸J37nB386_p0351b29亨處處蘇。圓悟老人道:『不在者兩頭,冰花發艷枝枝J37nB386_p0351b30秀,石筍抽條節節高。總道今日失利,目前已脫常流J37nB386_p0351c01見,格外須知作者機。』設有人問天童:『新年頭佛法時J37nB386_p0351c02如何?』『也有、也不有。』因甚如此?春風影裏乾坤大,寶鐸J37nB386_p0351c03聲中歲月長。」
J37nB386_p0351c04世祖章皇帝小祥,上堂。問:「一週龍去荊山遠,萬姓烏J37nB386_p0351c05號玉闕長。借問法中龍象主,欲將何法薦先皇?」師卓J37nB386_p0351c06拄杖,云:「棒頭有眼明如日,指出千邦統御尊。」進云:「恁J37nB386_p0351c07麼則內院不居兜率界,人間長現帝王身。」師云:「龍蛇J37nB386_p0351c08易辨。」進云:「薦嚴一句蒙師指,五位王子請更宣。如何J37nB386_p0351c09是誕生王子?」師云:「忘尊忘貴。」「如何是朝生王子?」師云:J37nB386_p0351c10「有令有條。」「如何是末生王子?」師云:「無高無下。」「如何是J37nB386_p0351c11化生王子?」師云:「能殺能活。」「如何是內生王子?」師云:「不J37nB386_p0351c12即不離。」進云:「當今天子那一位中來?」師云:「六宮分宅J37nB386_p0351c13不他宗。」進云:「天生貴胤天然別,德合乾坤化日長。」師J37nB386_p0351c14云:「且喜普天同慶贊。」進云:「先皇功業垂無極,聖子神J37nB386_p0351c15孫億萬年。」師云:「重重錦上又鋪華。」乃云:「廓清沙界振J37nB386_p0351c16仁威,手握金輪應萬機。大用煒煌彰至化,全機脫落J37nB386_p0351c17示真歸。紫羅帳合彤雲散,玉殿苔生寶月輝。一載遺J37nB386_p0351c18弓人共泣,春風花柳又依依。大眾!還委悉麼?世祖先J37nB386_p0351c19皇昔從佛地而示現王宮,生本無生;奄棄金輪而還J37nB386_p0351c20歸覺位,滅本不滅。雖示人間有來有去,極其本體不J37nB386_p0351c21動不遷。所以,手摶香海,掌置金甌,八表歸仁,萬邦樂J37nB386_p0351c22業,天地同覆載之德,夷夏無區別之心,蕩蕩巍巍,無J37nB386_p0351c23為無作,皇皇穆穆,無臭無聲,乃至忘尊貴、絕正偏、混J37nB386_p0351c24塵埃、齊物我,掀翻義海,踢破玄關,智普應於十方,寂J37nB386_p0351c25然不動;化已同於千界,廓爾無私。正恁麼時,秖如道:J37nB386_p0351c26如民之王,王外無民,民外無王。王在民外,民不受賜;J37nB386_p0351c27民在王外,王道不廣。如何曰民?無知曰民。如何曰王?J37nB386_p0351c28聖神曰王。且道王在什麼處?」良久,云:「含元殿上休覓J37nB386_p0351c29長安,慈氏宮中更尋內院。」卓拄杖,下座。
J37nB386_p0351c30晚參。「你有拄杖子,我與你拄杖子;你無拄杖子,我奪J37nB386_p0352a01卻你拄杖子。芭蕉與麼道,大似仁義盡從貧處斷,世J37nB386_p0352a02情偏向有錢家。天童拄杖子則不然,你有也與你、無J37nB386_p0352a03也與你,只是要你識得拄杖子來處。你若識得伊來J37nB386_p0352a04處,有則錦上鋪華、無則雪中送炭,尋常應用如龍得J37nB386_p0352a05水、似虎靠山;你若不識得來處,二六時中要橫不得J37nB386_p0352a06橫、要豎不得豎,未免被伊礙卻。設有箇漢道:『我有也J37nB386_p0352a07不要、無也不要。和尚又作麼生?』我也要問你底來處。J37nB386_p0352a08你有也不要,你底從何而有?識得你自己底即是山J37nB386_p0352a09僧底,要且推不去;若無也不要,我且問你:尋常撥艸J37nB386_p0352a10瞻風、穿雲渡水,全承誰力?與麼豁豁達達、莽莽蕩蕩,J37nB386_p0352a11近年來如稻麻竹葦。大眾!知來處不思議、不知處無J37nB386_p0352a12本據,畢竟拄杖子從甚處來?」良久,云:「休從林下覓,莫J37nB386_p0352a13向澗邊尋。」
J37nB386_p0352a14元宵,上堂。「十五日前然燈前,靈然不借夜明簾。十五J37nB386_p0352a15日後然燈後,眉毛眼上還依舊。正當十五正然燈,接J37nB386_p0352a16影聯輝遍剎塵。笙歌沸月宣和氣,圓通門百億舒張,J37nB386_p0352a17燈火燒空奪夜寒,彌勒境千身化現。好箇時也,衲僧J37nB386_p0352a18門下布袋打開,九衢城中金吾不禁。上無所阻,下無J37nB386_p0352a19所障。六宇同歡,十方通暢。人物嬉遊陸海中,玉皇端J37nB386_p0352a20拱彤雲上。還會麼?三更不閉戶,白日沒閒人。」
J37nB386_p0352a21上堂。「百斛香粳來鹿城,金牛舊案又翻新,滿盂飯是J37nB386_p0352a22米炊就,粒粒當知解飽人。大眾!天垂慶雲,孰若雨露J37nB386_p0352a23之霑濡?地湧澧泉,寧如稻梁之適用?所以,天童者裏J37nB386_p0352a24佛法尋常一味朴頭,不用拗直作曲、喚鐘作甕,寒但J37nB386_p0352a25言寒、熱但言熱,寒則穿衣、饑則喫飯,一飽便休、一屙J37nB386_p0352a26便了,任他棘句鉤章、重玄疊妙。不見道:珍饈雖美,只J37nB386_p0352a27是飽人不得。即今松濤化士還山,送來鹿城白米、琴J37nB386_p0352a28水雲鞋,現前一眾肚裏也飽足、腳下也穩當,不妨飽J37nB386_p0352a29齁齁地、灑灑落落,令人疑著。你道疑箇什麼?只恐不J37nB386_p0352a30是玉,是玉也大奇。」
J37nB386_p0352b01佛誕,籓侯田護法祈嗣,請上堂。「如來者,無所從來,亦J37nB386_p0352b02無所至,故名如來。」豎起拂子,云:「大眾!看看!釋迦如來J37nB386_p0352b03來也,不用九龍吐水,不勞諸天捧足。當知無所從來,J37nB386_p0352b04不從兜率而降生;亦無所至,不在王宮而示跡。如是J37nB386_p0352b05見得徹,則二六時中咳唾、掉臂、折旋、俯仰,無非釋迦J37nB386_p0352b06如來示誕之時。所以道:夜夜抱佛眠,朝朝還共起,起J37nB386_p0352b07坐鎮相隨,語默同居止。欲知佛出處,秖者語言是。是J37nB386_p0352b08則是,傅大士也只認得箇昭昭靈靈、驢前馬後底。若J37nB386_p0352b09是佛出處,又則不然。要知麼?昔降迦維今震旦,王宮J37nB386_p0352b10何礙入侯門?珪璋百代聯綿繼,始解千身化現尊。」
J37nB386_p0352b11晚參。「熏風拂拂送微涼,莫負山庭夏日長。嫩竹娟娟J37nB386_p0352b12初解籜,新荷嫋嫋正含香。池蛙鼓吹,梁燕笙簧。更有J37nB386_p0352b13松琴,一曲悠揚。填溝塞壑,無處遮藏。不得用眼耳采J37nB386_p0352b14聽,使心意摶量。十二處亡閒影響,三千界放淨毫光。」
J37nB386_p0352b15晚參。「狗走抖擻口,猴愁摟搜頭,禾山解打鼓,雪峰愛J37nB386_p0352b16輥毬,葵華隨日轉,芭蕉聞雷抽,一一天真妙,不用思J37nB386_p0352b17惟修。有時因好月,不覺過滄洲,翻憶酒樓歌艷曲,你J37nB386_p0352b18若無心我也休。」
J37nB386_p0352b19晚參。「昔有一老宿住菴,於門上書心字、於窗上書心J37nB386_p0352b20字、於壁上書心字。法眼云:『門上但書門字、窗上但書J37nB386_p0352b21窗字、壁上但書壁字。』玄覺云:『門上不要書門字、窗上J37nB386_p0352b22不要書窗字、壁上不要書壁字。何故?字義炳然。』」師云:J37nB386_p0352b23「三分鼎足,不無諸老機籌;混一華區,試看天童出手。J37nB386_p0352b24於門上書窗字、於窗上書壁字、於壁上書門字,何故?J37nB386_p0352b25掀翻海嶽求知己,撥亂乾坤見太平。」
J37nB386_p0352b26送徑山費和尚牌位入祖堂,上堂。「行解相應,名之曰J37nB386_p0352b27祖。如是祖堂,十方無壁落,四面無門戶,且道從何而J37nB386_p0352b28入?不見道:譬如雁過長空,影沉寒水,雁無遺影之意,J37nB386_p0352b29水無留影之心。是知法伯大和尚風馳九剎,道遍十J37nB386_p0352b30虛,烈燄紅爐,烹佛煉祖,星衡玉鑑,較古量今,本自無J37nB386_p0352c01心,何曾有作?所以,有時傾湫倒嶽,有時白日青天,放J37nB386_p0352c02行瓦礫生輝,把住驪珠失耀。正恁麼時,且道把住好?J37nB386_p0352c03放行好?六十七燈添一照,光光相燭到無休。」
J37nB386_p0352c04上堂。「物我同源,聖凡不二,在天同天,在地同地。譬如J37nB386_p0352c05百川異流,同歸大海,都名海水。住於一味,即攝眾味;J37nB386_p0352c06住於大海,即混諸流。」以拂子打圓相,云:「大眾!秖如道:J37nB386_p0352c07從上佛祖莫不於此法性海中遊戲神通,入淨、入穢,J37nB386_p0352c08入聖、入凡,東涌、西沒,南涌、北沒,從淨入穢、從穢入淨,J37nB386_p0352c09小中現大、大中現小,天也、人也,凡也、聖也,真也、俗也,J37nB386_p0352c10劣形也、殊相也,百福也、萬德也。且道:還出得者箇圈J37nB386_p0352c11繢也無?即今現前,若僧、若俗,若男、若女,且道:在者箇J37nB386_p0352c12圈繢裏?在者箇圈繢外?」良久,擊香几,云:「若也知得,日J37nB386_p0352c13消萬兩黃金;如或未然,應供堂中,切須仔細。」
J37nB386_p0352c14晚參。「大眾!天童門下不畜西河獅子、不畜子湖狗子,J37nB386_p0352c15前無黃龍三關、後無曹山四禁,左無長沙大蟲、右無J37nB386_p0352c16雪峰鱉鼻,山門八字打開,路徑一條平直,來者不拒、J37nB386_p0352c17往者不追,金剛圈不用你跳、栗棘蓬不用你吞,秖要J37nB386_p0352c18你大坐當軒紹將去,因甚十箇有五雙退屈?且道利J37nB386_p0352c19害在什麼處?不見道:如將梵位直授凡庸,便乃不驚J37nB386_p0352c20不怖,須是恁麼人荷擔恁麼事。眾中還有恁麼人麼?J37nB386_p0352c21出來紹將去。」良久,卓拄杖,云:「夜靜水寒魚不餌,滿船J37nB386_p0352c22空載月明歸。」
J37nB386_p0352c23九日,上堂。「大眾!登山須拄杖。昨晚山僧睡至五更時J37nB386_p0352c24分,忽見十法界中四聖、六凡,咸以今日重九各欲登J37nB386_p0352c25高賞勝,而聖界諸聖便登清淨山、智慧山、涅槃山及J37nB386_p0352c26慈悲、忍辱諸山,其下凡登底便是五蘊山、無明山、人J37nB386_p0352c27我山、貪癡山,乃至銕圍、火燄、刀劍等山,各各目視雲J37nB386_p0352c28霄、眼空四海,以為高之又高、妙之又玅。惟有無依道J37nB386_p0352c29人無山可登,忍俊不禁,卻來山僧手中借拄杖。山僧J37nB386_p0352c30拄杖子從來孤迥迥地,不與凡聖同途、不與萬法為J37nB386_p0353a01侶。且道:登那箇山好?雖然,依時及節,不妨赴箇程限。J37nB386_p0353a02於是,無依道人遂憑拄杖子神力不離當處,便登五J37nB386_p0353a03蘊山;而不離五蘊山,便登清淨山;不離清淨山,便登J37nB386_p0353a04無明山;不離無明山,便登智慧山;不離智慧山,便登J37nB386_p0353a05人我山;不離人我山,便登涅槃山;不離涅槃山,如是J37nB386_p0353a06諸山不覺一時登遍,莫不造極,周遊歷覽,凡一剎境、J37nB386_p0353a07聖一剎境,諸般種種剎境不出乎山僧一拄杖。所以J37nB386_p0353a08道:無邊剎境,自他不離於拄杖頭上。」驀拈拄杖,召眾,J37nB386_p0353a09云:「還見麼?」卓一卓,下座。
J37nB386_p0353a10開爐,上堂。「十月開爐攀舊條,隨家柴炭儉豐燒,別無J37nB386_p0353a11煖室延龍象,莫怕風頭硬且高。不見道:如如向上,沒J37nB386_p0353a12可安排;大火聚中,不容蚊蚋。銅頭銕額,正好翻身;快J37nB386_p0353a13鷂俊鷹,不蹲窠窟。冷灰豆爆,慶幸非常;烈燄冰生,卜J37nB386_p0353a14度不得。當頭坐斷,千聖亡鋒;絕後再甦,十方通暢。傍J37nB386_p0353a15敲正打,鈍銕成金;倒弄橫拈,死蛇解活。莫道一條白J37nB386_p0353a16練古廟香爐,便是萬仞崖前清風朗月,爭如劍刃上J37nB386_p0353a17橫身、異類中戴角?何故?試玉須經火,求珠不離泥。」
遠菴僼禪師語錄卷第四
