J39nB471_p0975a04師住敘州府象山,云:「前後釋迦、大小彌勒,難道不同J39nB471_p0975a05山僧者箇?」豎掌,云:「且道者箇是甚麼聻?三頭六臂支J39nB471_p0975a06持不下,九膽七心豈敢當鋒?活落落,歷劫出沒,無來J39nB471_p0975a07無去;脫灑灑,今古升沉,不減不增。吾今為汝諸人推J39nB471_p0975a08倒觀音淨瓶、打脫彌勒布袋,變大地作黃金、攪長河J39nB471_p0975a09為酥酪,只教大眾咬著些子一場快活、吐著些子滿J39nB471_p0975a10面春風,不枉來此粧模作樣,做者場懡㦬境界、出者J39nB471_p0975a11番男子形殊,俱各要同志共膽協力、忿心努力一番,J39nB471_p0975a12敲脫枷鎖、拔出牢關,唧嚦溜一聲迸開漆桶、𨆂踢䟜J39nB471_p0975a13幾步跳出三界,豈不快暢者哉?諸禪衲休怪山僧口J39nB471_p0975a14踐,若不從此幹辦明白,日後有人收拾渠在。」推倒椅J39nB471_p0975a15案歸方丈。
J39nB471_p0975a16結制落堂。云:「人天交接之處,不比泛泛尋常之所,剔J39nB471_p0975a17起兩行眉毛,如同兩陣交鋒相似。堂分內外,各執一J39nB471_p0975a18行,見丁著役,切勿推藏。把著便行,沒箇商量,稍生擬J39nB471_p0975a19議,犯吾鋒鋩。撾鼓落堂,滿腹愁腸,那箇時節,難辯高J39nB471_p0975a20強?如羊伴虎,只須隄防,動著山僧,惟恐難當。預先告J39nB471_p0975a21過,總略提綱,凡百細心,切忌倉惶。戒須嚴持,如固籬J39nB471_p0975a22墻,禪識放收,如樂鏗鏘。三學業畢,無限馨香,與條拄J39nB471_p0975a23杖,續燄祖芳。謾道滿口深許,須過幾經風霜。」
J39nB471_p0975a24壬子八月,江西南康府石塘瑞龍庵文湛及眾善請。J39nB471_p0975a25師一喝便坐,云:「數年未弄伽陀,山僧佛法陳憩,惜乎J39nB471_p0975a26出在行腳,凡事不周不備,無非觸境逢緣,只當遊戲J39nB471_p0975a27三昧。眾善虔誠禮請,兩片口皮鈍滯,試問參禪工夫,J39nB471_p0975a28其中不容半字,但只萬緣放下,隨心拈起即是。若論J39nB471_p0975a29最初入門,必用話頭一句,一歸何處審觀?晝夜疑來J39nB471_p0975a30疑去,拶到無人無我,自然心空及第。放則彌滿六合,J39nB471_p0975b01卷之收藏於密,青山綠水吾心,翠竹黃花祖意。伸手J39nB471_p0975b02推倒須彌,捏著虛空粉碎,撫掌呵呵唱太平,大地山J39nB471_p0975b03河成白玉。」舉起拄杖,云:「會麼?若向者裏會得,饅頭是J39nB471_p0975b04肉做,拈來可充饑;者裏不會,火珠求水,臨渴無依。山J39nB471_p0975b05僧過此施方便,若不力行悔後遲。」
J39nB471_p0975b06江南江寧府大山舖徐、胡暨眾善信請益。師云:「登舟J39nB471_p0975b07度嶺自南來,豈獲中途遇善臺?綠水凝冰無月現,青J39nB471_p0975b08山磊雪有花開。故此法無一定,有虛則有實,無假不J39nB471_p0975b09顯真。」師撫案云:「且道者是真?是假?若道者是假,山僧J39nB471_p0975b10尋常秪當耍;若道者是真,眾善誠凝仔細聽。山僧有J39nB471_p0975b11句至切語,不了生死輪迴坑,張家死、李家生,或男形、J39nB471_p0975b12或女身,只看善惡二字有淺深,大善昇天、小善人間,J39nB471_p0975b13大惡墜地、小惡入迷,深無物可諭,只好向者裏畫箇J39nB471_p0975b14金剛圈,無論久進、初進,都向者裏蹼跳,從此跳得出J39nB471_p0975b15即丈夫,跳不出即凡夫。」
J39nB471_p0975b16堂眾為工夫不進。師進堂,嗄嗄發一長笑云:「久曠大J39nB471_p0975b17眾敢當受請,只得就頭講話。是則雖是,山僧平生不J39nB471_p0975b18慣理葛藤,止好直道一句兩句而已。且道一句兩句J39nB471_p0975b19也是多了的?三世諸佛說法,不過利益三有;歷代祖J39nB471_p0975b20師垂手,無非接引群生。山僧今到此,不得已鼓兩片J39nB471_p0975b21口皮,亦是挑撥大眾,只得向無言處發言、無說處起J39nB471_p0975b22說、無章句中表出章句、無作用顯作用、無把柄設把J39nB471_p0975b23柄、無道理拈道理。」豎杖云:「且道者是甚麼道理?呵呵!J39nB471_p0975b24若論者箇道理,三世諸佛取證,證此者箇道理;歷代J39nB471_p0975b25祖師了明,明此者箇道理;十方菩薩苦行,行此者箇J39nB471_p0975b26道理;一切比丘受持,持此者箇道理;現前大眾參悟,J39nB471_p0975b27悟此者箇道理;大地眾生執迷,迷此者箇道理。所以J39nB471_p0975b28云:在聖未曾增一絲毫,處凡何嘗減一分寸?良由此J39nB471_p0975b29事在天即高、在地即平、在人有迷悟、在物有靈蠢,一J39nB471_p0975b30切眾生皆有智慧德相,只因污染貪愛、妄想執著,故J39nB471_p0975c01不明者箇道理。佛觀眾生性麤狹劣、難調難化,而自J39nB471_p0975c02思惟:我寧不說法,尋念過去佛。即時天主帝釋三請J39nB471_p0975c03世尊轉大法輪。我及眾生願樂欲聞,莫不聞此者箇J39nB471_p0975c04道理。說法四十九年,末後拈花示眾,也只是者箇道J39nB471_p0975c05理。惟此者箇,人人本具、箇箇不無,總要直下承當,返J39nB471_p0975c06觀自看,活潑潑無名無相。且道是箇甚麼道理?咦!林J39nB471_p0975c07深幽遠無人到,古路坦然我獨歸。」
J39nB471_p0975c08因事落堂。云:「山僧欲不說,只見眾中七零八落,雖厭J39nB471_p0975c09煩絡索,不得不說。既到其中,只得翻藤理葛。此間結J39nB471_p0975c10制,未必是山僧有甚麼私事,甘撿箇白炎頭,瞞得那J39nB471_p0975c11一箇?無非為大眾一大事因緣故。有甚麼私心偏意J39nB471_p0975c12耶?有甚包藏耶?頭頭露出,法法現成,應用現前,無處J39nB471_p0975c13不有,無所不周,日用尋常,了然大快。道豈遠人,人自J39nB471_p0975c14遠也。因甚麼不肯自惺自覺,慣論他是他非,攪群亂J39nB471_p0975c15眾,磨牙咬舌?此等𠌮儸倱伅之徒,不生忸怩之心,工J39nB471_p0975c16夫不上緊,逐日嘈𠱥。如此用心,迷雲愈厚,若海漸深,J39nB471_p0975c17爬得出頭,日已西沉。勸爾有知慚識愧之流,正好向J39nB471_p0975c18此倚眾靠眾,堂中柴方水就衣食自然,做些現成工J39nB471_p0975c19夫,把者大事見箇明白,了得乾淨,一出堂去,橫行直J39nB471_p0975c20走,纔不被天下老和尚熱瞞,亦不受黑臉老子勾引。J39nB471_p0975c21如或未然,提起本參,豎起脊梁,自然話頭親切,咬定J39nB471_p0975c22牙關,捏定兩拳,何愁大事不徹。若將己分一著明了,J39nB471_p0975c23千處萬處齊明,話頭看破,古文今文齊破,豈不快哉。J39nB471_p0975c24何須今日問話,明日轉語,或棒或喝,枉爾受痛,揚眉J39nB471_p0975c25豎拳,恍然瞞過。若知痛癢的工夫,有些入手,不識快J39nB471_p0975c26暢的問話,止圖好看。如此見識,不能了生脫死,而返J39nB471_p0975c27招愆惹罪,不聞前人錯答一字,尚墮五百劫之狐形,J39nB471_p0975c28豈不懼哉。工夫可著實行去,話頭要本分道來,就從J39nB471_p0975c29答不去、轉不來處,起疑捨死,逼拶來、逼拶去,逼到無J39nB471_p0975c30絲毫擬議處,切莫放捨,與他廝挨。如此用工,出身不J39nB471_p0976a01待時節,徹頭止在剎那。若到者般田地,劍樹刀山,即J39nB471_p0976a02刻灰燼,銀墻鐵壁,當下冰消,那時間開口吐氣,出乎J39nB471_p0976a03自然,如同往日做就一般相似,豈假安頓鋪排。脫或J39nB471_p0976a04未然,直須吞洋銅汁,服熱鐵丸,更向大冶爐中,另鑄J39nB471_p0976a05一回,換過者一幅心肝始得。」
J39nB471_p0976a06激勵大眾,落堂。云:「邇來一輩參討之客全不的當,今J39nB471_p0976a07日窮廝煎、明日餓廝炒,不肯向衣線下透脫將去,甘J39nB471_p0976a08作一等盲修瞎煉之徒,做到彌勒下生一無出頭日J39nB471_p0976a09子,秪恐閻家勾帖到來,無常殺鬼卒然而至,那時饒J39nB471_p0976a10渠有滿腹文章、蓋世辯舌,總是他人口角邊覓來,糟J39nB471_p0976a11粕狐涎到此亦難濟事,正所謂食涕唾鬼,空費生平J39nB471_p0976a12伎倆。若是頭正尾正的漢子,直須向三世諸佛說不J39nB471_p0976a13到處、歷代祖師道不出處,猛著精彩,究竟看是甚麼J39nB471_p0976a14境界,自有擣斷處。譬如百尺竿頭更進一步,一步又J39nB471_p0976a15一步,只要進到無地可進處,方名孤迥迥地,如此方J39nB471_p0976a16許大休大歇。」連聲喝出。
J39nB471_p0976a17在家七眾取名請益。師云:「爾因何所事,兩次三番地?J39nB471_p0976a18若問請安名,拈來無不是。一名曰才、一曰法,山僧有J39nB471_p0976a19才、法二施:一名曰喜,至此聞法歡喜;一名曰戒,令爾J39nB471_p0976a20勤修戒、定、慧;一名曰息,從此息滅貪、嗔、癡;一名曰時,J39nB471_p0976a21時下明心見性;一名曰立,立地成佛作祖。」以指畫一J39nB471_p0976a22圓相,云:「任他是佛、是祖、是凡、是聖,都跳不出山僧者J39nB471_p0976a23圈子在。箇中還有跳得出者麼?」自代一喝,云:「任君用J39nB471_p0976a24盡千鈞力,終是無如一指何。」
J39nB471_p0976a25茶次,云:「者裏喫茶,大家動口,徵驗工夫,用力少有。精J39nB471_p0976a26進的如錦上添花,懈怠的似瓶中插柳。此處不分清J39nB471_p0976a27濁去,迷頭依舊東西走。」
J39nB471_p0976a28江西奉新縣不然李居士取名。云:「了了分明無覆藏,J39nB471_p0976a29尋常日用出誰覺?六門晝夜自光明,動靜施為毫不J39nB471_p0976a30錯,不遷不變一如如,無去無來活潑潑。在聖不增凡J39nB471_p0976b01不減,物物頭頭看下落,今朝分明說向伊,三世如來J39nB471_p0976b02難摸索。此中有摸索得的麼?」震威一喝,云:「罪福若空J39nB471_p0976b03花,何處起善惡?說下千言萬語,要明打頭一著。」
J39nB471_p0976b04湖廣遠安縣方護法供養衲頭。師云:「金針透出獰龍J39nB471_p0976b05眼,玉線牽回八面風,織就森羅統萬象,縫成八封領J39nB471_p0976b06九宮。內函日月星辰燦,外顯山河社稷雄,始自頭陀J39nB471_p0976b07親手造,樹下一居食一中。青州止有七斤重,遠安信J39nB471_p0976b08力數無窮,老僧披說無生法,功勳福德讓方公。且道:J39nB471_p0976b09如何是無生法?大眾!沉凝諦聽,待老僧說無生。」師良J39nB471_p0976b10久,云:「聽麼?若向者裏聽得,三滿多缽怛囉;者裏不聞,J39nB471_p0976b11唵㗭唎㗭唎𠼦哆那娑婆訶。」以袖一拂,歸方丈。
J39nB471_p0976b12七堂。云:「者箇門庭豈等常?無端名跡播諸方,鉗錘不J39nB471_p0976b13惜勤敲打,留得聲名四野彰。仔細看來,大地無寸土,J39nB471_p0976b14眼底無一物,且道彰箇甚麼?莫是德相華居士辦齋J39nB471_p0976b15供眾,向頂門著錐,腳跟知痛,大眾得饗飽,居士賺受J39nB471_p0976b16用?若論山僧此語,也是一舉兩得,且道居士得箇甚J39nB471_p0976b17麼?咄!識得老僧一轉語,方知受用無休日。」
J39nB471_p0976b18「命長無過百歲,壽夭無非六九。富貴多生修積,因緣J39nB471_p0976b19前世培有。非時不可栽松,當道方宜插柳。任謀膏腴J39nB471_p0976b20千莊,不如心田一畝。卑賤安分悠長,高貴難保永久。J39nB471_p0976b21惟此僧道兩門,巖窟草窩苦守。只待大事分明,放下J39nB471_p0976b22渾身抖擻。上古餐松飲露,名揚千古豈醜。今人跨駿J39nB471_p0976b23穿綾,犯法如同芻狗。知足除貪稱俊傑,迷徒任向東J39nB471_p0976b24西走。自覺醒來參老僧,未曾喫飯先學嘔。試問祖師J39nB471_p0976b25直指安心法,八面成半斤,十升為一斗。」
J39nB471_p0976b26祗園解制,晚茶次,辭眾云:「山僧止得一幅臉皮,不喜J39nB471_p0976b27重說繁說,但出一言半語,聽在耳、受在心,依而行之,J39nB471_p0976b28大家有光彩。出言不聽、不信、不行,使我自羞自愧,深J39nB471_p0976b29悔從前煎逼大眾,晝夜不安,覺我過也。凡有出堂者,J39nB471_p0976b30萬望包含,休取我咎。幸甚!幸甚!老僧更有幾句痛心J39nB471_p0976c01之語出在口邊,不得不言,未必眾中與我有甚麼讎J39nB471_p0976c02恨,故不忍我慈心,只得說出。僧者,三寶眾中之尊,多J39nB471_p0976c03有王侯公卿求之而不得,既叨為佛子,必審其祖宗J39nB471_p0976c04之淵源,如何修行、如何悟道、如何度化利益一切眾J39nB471_p0976c05生,傳流不絕,宜當細細省察,未必做箇不肖的子孫,J39nB471_p0976c06任其憊懶而不羞恥,豈不玷辱宗祖?若是臉上有血J39nB471_p0976c07色的,一聞此語,悚慄一番,終成法器。賴佛逃生的,附J39nB471_p0976c08之度外,所以古云:把手牽不行,自肯乃方親。」
J39nB471_p0976c09擺脫塵勞求出家,彌陀池長白蓮花。一心向上勤精J39nB471_p0976c10進,八德池中結煙霞。只待功完行滿日,花開露出金J39nB471_p0976c11襤裟。十方諸佛同聲贊,善哉奇男坐寶車。所以出家J39nB471_p0976c12二字,莫當輕小。出家一日夜,二十劫不墮三惡道。出J39nB471_p0976c13家之人,能離五過失,得五勝利。世尊曾住劫比羅城J39nB471_p0976c14時,說此出家功。一時國王王子,百官庶民,信善男女,J39nB471_p0976c15俱求出家。何況末劫將近,莫到苦來逼身,覺得遲也。J39nB471_p0976c16既得出家,要持戒參禪,悟明心地,纔不辜此初念。諦J39nB471_p0976c17聽頌曰:出家定要了生死,一念參差被鬼使。剔起眉J39nB471_p0976c18毛捏緊拳,瞠開慧眼咬唇齒。忽然迸破太虛空,一腳J39nB471_p0976c19踏穿慧海底。橫走直行任自遊,十方剎土如彈指。果J39nB471_p0976c20到恁麼田地,纔不辜負今日念爾。如或未然,信施空J39nB471_p0976c21消尚且罷,火池跳出墜泥坑。
J39nB471_p0976c22「昂昂漢子,迥迥丈夫,只為英雄二字,牽在名利場中,J39nB471_p0976c23爭論人我,剖判是非,不覺光陰瞬息,日月如梭,一息J39nB471_p0976c24不還,如同灰壤,名如電滅,利似冰消,不如皈向三寶J39nB471_p0976c25門中,暫不成佛證仙,亦不入牛胎馬腹。聽頌:佛仙本J39nB471_p0976c26是凡夫修,看破浮塵如電漚。樹老山崩海有竭,人生J39nB471_p0976c27難保百年周。出家不望求榮貴,脫俗但緣造業休。學J39nB471_p0976c28箇蒙聾癡呆漢,到頭一定上天兜。」
J39nB471_p0976c29辛未二月,陳居士落髮。師云:「人生浮世如同夢,千算J39nB471_p0976c30萬謀前後弄,弄到神疲氣不接,一團白肉土坑送。癡J39nB471_p0977a01眾生,宜保重,靈光一點真如性,三世如來同我共。悟J39nB471_p0977a02成佛,迷走空,串入輪迴火宅中,三界堅牢無隙縫。魚J39nB471_p0977a03變龍,雞化鳳,蛟欲飛騰破鐵甕,人靈自棄不前修,直J39nB471_p0977a04待臨危受苦痛。聞佛法,莫放縱,把著繩頭敢放鬆,鐵J39nB471_p0977a05墻銀壁一時迸。跳出乾坤三界外,自獲天人來敬奉,J39nB471_p0977a06十方佛剎任優游,那管風搖天地動。聽頌:出家如鳥J39nB471_p0977a07脫羅網,除卻貪嗔癡妄想,五蘊塵緣色色空,寶光堂J39nB471_p0977a08上作標榜。」
J39nB471_p0977a09饒居士落髮,師云:「既來出家落髮,尤勝將軍卸甲。亦J39nB471_p0977a10如雞鳥脫籠,躲離刀砧煎𤌙。收入三寶數類,勤修禪J39nB471_p0977a11道佛法。禪悟通天徹地,道明證越塵剎。法雨普潤大J39nB471_p0977a12千,纔成釋子機括。若不見性明心,生死輪迴何拔?奸J39nB471_p0977a13狡癡詭紊亂,出家有甚傝𠎷?依舊百姓光頭,圖名不J39nB471_p0977a14在里甲。此等無智凡夫,枉住叢林梵剎。自古佛門寬J39nB471_p0977a15廣,進出毫無逼壓。好歹預先告過,任憑揣摩籌察。果J39nB471_p0977a16是越格丈夫,沐首洗心剃髮。」
J39nB471_p0977a17「人人有塊膏腴田,春布秋收不記年。天上人間俱饗J39nB471_p0977a18遍,此番果證作填還。亮大德,結人緣,若到風雲聚會J39nB471_p0977a19日,清高逸樂莫忘元。且道如何是不忘本元一句?雨J39nB471_p0977a20花落處非真際,一念無生證涅槃。」
J39nB471_p0977a21圓根祝髮。師云:「人同四海魚狂舞,想跳龍門睹天府。J39nB471_p0977a22貪餌吞鉤入網羅,終須難免庖廚楚。莫是當來有善J39nB471_p0977a23因,感動寶光來救苦。既來歸在祖師門,勝似嬰兒得J39nB471_p0977a24見母。大韝爐中鍛煉出,永證金身作佛祖。」
J39nB471_p0977a25徹明禪人辦齋,齋次,師云:「瞬息光陰如射箭,白駒過J39nB471_p0977a26隙似拋梭,霎時不覺七旬已,晃若閃光一剎那。幸此J39nB471_p0977a27得叨三寶數,不然虛度一生過,年年多累眾兄弟,歲J39nB471_p0977a28歲難當孝順多。你敬老僧人敬你,屋簷水滴舊坑窩,J39nB471_p0977a29老僧更有兩樁事,說與賢徒慢琢磨。若是蜀中緣不J39nB471_p0977a30就,依然芒履受奔波,行到水窮山盡日,那時必定得J39nB471_p0977b01諧和。言不盡,慢蹉跎,隄防碗箸動干戈。大眾請茶。」
J39nB471_p0977b02念慈禪人辦齋,齋次,師云:「人生於天地之中,蒙乎不J39nB471_p0977b03知天有何高?地有何厚?既不知天地高厚,必須要明J39nB471_p0977b04自己源頭一著始得。且道如何是源頭一著?生來時,J39nB471_p0977b05審問來之起頭;死去時,追尋去之落腳。若不明此者J39nB471_p0977b06著,甘受人間饑渴,正所謂成都一隻鵝,東門攛下河,J39nB471_p0977b07流入東瀛海,渴死豈奈何?莫至臨渴掘井,及至井成,J39nB471_p0977b08必不能活。病急尋盧醫,病危覓扁雀,縱有回天揭地J39nB471_p0977b09手,病入膏肓難下藥,老僧囊有返還丹,總為時人犯J39nB471_p0977b10執著。」舉:「文殊問善財,指地云:『但是藥扯來。』財信手扯J39nB471_p0977b11一莖草與,殊云:『無一不是藥。』」師云:「大小善財也會弄J39nB471_p0977b12乖,遍地俱是信手扯來,不識通身藥治通身病,向外J39nB471_p0977b13馳求都是錯。呵呵!錯不錯?切莫忘了穿衣喫飯者一J39nB471_p0977b14箇,速向明明路上行,休從黑漆桶中坐。」
J39nB471_p0977b15德福余居士設齋次,師示云:「雖爾持齋學念佛,過重J39nB471_p0977b16功輕有斷續,六時返復細窺審,未必主人常住屋。光J39nB471_p0977b17陰混過事非小,走脫靈猿沒處逐。緊隄防,休謾忽,眼J39nB471_p0977b18前若不了明白,掉轉頭來何面目?」
J39nB471_p0977b19福超禪人設齋次,師囑云:「行孝江流第一人,哭振山J39nB471_p0977b20門天下聞,看罷世間能有幾?吾徒算起可比倫。是則J39nB471_p0977b21須是有始要有終,開花須結果,老僧僅七十,收元之J39nB471_p0977b22日何安妥?」
J39nB471_p0977b23德果王居士受五戒,齋次,師云:「既為一箇丈夫漢,何J39nB471_p0977b24故勞形挑空擔?要了撒開一切了,莫效藕斷絲不斷。J39nB471_p0977b25現前若不了明白,掉轉頭來何臉面?三十閻羅算飯J39nB471_p0977b26錢,唯恐一時難湊辦。幸到華嚴來請益,暫且許渠了J39nB471_p0977b27一半,還有那一半不免,要向老僧熱爐煉。」
J39nB471_p0977b28滎經縣仙衢大德。師云:「代佛拈花法鼓鳴,不惟榮經J39nB471_p0977b29普天聞,奔途千里來求戒,足見真心一片誠。線下牟J39nB471_p0977b30尼親指示,生生世世不愁貧。」
J39nB471_p0977c01除夕,晚參。師云:「儒、釋、道乃J39nB471_p0977c02當今之輔佐,佛、法、僧係J39nB471_p0977c03國家之祥瑞,戒、定、慧修行人之階級,仁、義、禮、智、信是J39nB471_p0977c04大人君子之紀綱,貪、嗔、癡、愛是愚夫小人之謀略,積J39nB471_p0977c05德修因乃善人之良方,殺牲害命真惡人之尋常。世J39nB471_p0977c06間有小人,纔顯君子無暴虐,那論良善?老僧者裏佛J39nB471_p0977c07法平等,勿論上中下、貴賤、愚賢,一例均資,普種善根。J39nB471_p0977c08如《法華》云:『大根、大莖、大枝、大葉,中根、中莖、中枝、中葉,J39nB471_p0977c09小根、小莖、小枝、小葉,一雨普潤,各得增長。』試問大眾:J39nB471_p0977c10古與今接物利生是同?是別?若道是同,東西文武分J39nB471_p0977c11雌雄,象王不入獅子窟,參商二星豈相逢?若道是別,J39nB471_p0977c12百川流水歸大澤,高山平地皆共春,千江水月一月J39nB471_p0977c13攝。若道不同不別,一萎花,燦五葉,西天四七東二三,J39nB471_p0977c14不離拄杖頭邊徹。」撫案示眾,云:「會麼?向者裏會得,聲J39nB471_p0977c15聲爆竹送舊歲,片片梅花迎新節;者裏不會,一年三J39nB471_p0977c16百六十日,數到頭來十二月,道人不比世相同,長明J39nB471_p0977c17慧日無休歇。」
J39nB471_p0977c18「吾徒彼岸,十四母難。說句淡話,以為慶讚。乍作長老,J39nB471_p0977c19只恐不慣。既到空門,貪嗔愛斷。本地光明,晝夜輝燦。J39nB471_p0977c20無字真經,時刻追念。人法雨忘,凡胎轉換。主人正坐,J39nB471_p0977c21空王宮殿。運用神通,剎那周遍。不得金丹親點化,頑J39nB471_p0977c22石瓦磚何日變。」
入堂挑撥工夫
J39nB471_p0977c24「底事無別。譬如塗毒鼓,聽者耳聾;又如栗棘蓬,吞者J39nB471_p0977c25難吐。吐得出,便是出格高人;聽得入,纔成天耳圓通。J39nB471_p0977c26到者箇地頭,還是神識邊事,濟不得甚麼?要一字不J39nB471_p0977c27挂,一物俱無,離心意識參,絕凡聖路學,如是三二十J39nB471_p0977c28年不離叢林,趙州四十年不開口,向後佛也奈何不J39nB471_p0977c29得。噫!堂中道侶,話頭未嘗純熟,蒲團未必穩當。何故?J39nB471_p0977c30日逐三三兩兩,亂鬥機鋒。且問大眾:如何是機鋒?」眾J39nB471_p0978a01齊喝,師云:「且道者一喝是機?是鋒?」眾無語,師叱云:「者J39nB471_p0978a02般見識,只圖苟延歲月,有什麼交涉?若是真為生死J39nB471_p0978a03的,安肯把光陰錯過?必是抱定一則公案,決要與他J39nB471_p0978a04逼拶,討見明白。所謂暫時不在,如同死人,豈肯和身J39nB471_p0978a05放蕩?若略有些悟頭,即便自足,譬之土羹塵飯,非竟J39nB471_p0978a06不能飽人,而且自塗面目者也。古德云:『學道如鑽火,J39nB471_p0978a07逢煙切莫休,直待金星現,歸家始到頭。』」
J39nB471_p0978a08堂眾放逸,師云:「參禪定要了生脫死、大休大歇,那時J39nB471_p0978a09方可任意縱橫。而今看起一般人纔上禪床,如同酒J39nB471_p0978a10醉相似,左摧右倒、前仰後撲,摧得幾頭過香一炷,忽J39nB471_p0978a11聽一椎䍊子響過,瞠起眼來恍恍惚惚、惛惛懵懵,但J39nB471_p0978a12不知此何時?且不管經行,就把世情談論了無休歇,J39nB471_p0978a13東單幾箇談古論今,西單幾箇講文解義,自不知慚J39nB471_p0978a14愧,可憐可愍。者等見識并不依規,體制寧可辨是論J39nB471_p0978a15非?不思檀信脂膏、行人血汗,當想輪迴遷流、生死逼J39nB471_p0978a16人,況且自己大事不共他有,未必是做來與人看的、J39nB471_p0978a17頑耍兒戲的。如此頑皮不透,無帽討帽、無罪招罪也。J39nB471_p0978a18何不稱此色力康健、尋條活路做去?要知此段工夫J39nB471_p0978a19如剝芭蕉相似,剝了一層又一層、剝了又剝,剝到無J39nB471_p0978a20下手處,便是打頭一著,如行千里,貴乎最初一步,直J39nB471_p0978a21至到家還要討箇行履。畢竟如何結局?」撫掌,云:「莫把J39nB471_p0978a22綿蠻鳥,當作鳳凰兒。」展袖出。
J39nB471_p0978a23問:「即心即佛則不問,如何是非心非佛?」師噴嚏一聲,J39nB471_p0978a24云:「自從舊歲掬水著一驚,直至而今傷風過了,又要J39nB471_p0978a25咳嗽。」僧作禮,師乃攔頭一踏,對眾云:「者僧那來的,擅J39nB471_p0978a26到老僧處之乎者也。且道是忤逆耶?親覲耶?若道親J39nB471_p0978a27覲,赤手空拳無襯;若道忤逆,低頭禮拜。如是仔細看,J39nB471_p0978a28好似螃蟹下湯鍋爬,者裏不是?那裏不是?試問大眾:J39nB471_p0978a29如何是僧?」眾齊一喝,師云:「盲龜跛鱉齊張跳,瞎驢瞎J39nB471_p0978a30馬亂胡跑,張口無交涉,不語見地高。」
J39nB471_p0978b01「同堂經行,共單打坐,兩餐粥飯,早晚功課,十二時辰,J39nB471_p0978b02瞞得那箇?」僧禮擬開口,師震威一喝,云:「尋常說話,妄J39nB471_p0978b03來參座,犯吾鋒鋩,一分兩墮。老僧若不抽身出,攪起J39nB471_p0978b04滿堂都是禍。」侍者捲簾,師歸方丈。
J39nB471_p0978b05進堂。作哭聲,云:「老僧欲生生不得,欲死死不得,今朝J39nB471_p0978b06為甚麼活活坑陷在恁麼田地?」橫擔竹篦,云:「倘有一J39nB471_p0978b07箇半箇向前接著,暫且鬆口氣。」僧近前擬接,師云:「汝J39nB471_p0978b08是一箇半箇?」僧擬開口,師打,云:「汝非算數。」笑出。
J39nB471_p0978b09「諸仁者!莫以靜默為禪,喧譁為鬧,如此用心,工成兩J39nB471_p0978b10斷,猶如背溺投火,終不能得。雖道以動為病,以靜為J39nB471_p0978b11藥,假如動靜二相了然不生,又作麼生?咦!莫道輕安J39nB471_p0978b12猶是快,輕安且過一重關。」
機緣
J39nB471_p0978b14康熙十二年癸丑二月廿六日,工部擎安迎師至衙J39nB471_p0978b15內佛堂,一夜清談。怛蘇王欲來省師,安傳白塔住持J39nB471_p0978b16速去收拾方丈,迎師進院,J39nB471_p0978b17千歲好來相會。少坐間, 殿下即至,師欲下床。J39nB471_p0978b18王兩步參前,滿禮竟,坐。師云:「殿下乃千乘之體,貧衲J39nB471_p0978b19無非山林丘壑一拙禿子,敢當J39nB471_p0978b20王駕親臨榻下?」 王曰:「久仰和尚宗風孤峻,特來親J39nB471_p0978b21領大教。」師云:「貧衲久響 殿下參禪、打坐、做工夫,即J39nB471_p0978b22此一路來時,還有工夫也麼?」 王笑云:「望老和尚指J39nB471_p0978b23示。」師云:「坐臥亦非禪,施為不是工,但得心無事,杲日J39nB471_p0978b24現當空。此箇天真妙,不昧尋常中。只看日逐尋常是J39nB471_p0978b25箇甚麼道理?」 王曰:「此事不越尋常,但尋常造諸孽J39nB471_p0978b26如何?」師云:「永嘉《證道歌》云:『無明實相即佛相,幻化空J39nB471_p0978b27身即法身。』任他善惡業,捉賊捕巢穴,跡在牛還在,貫J39nB471_p0978b28穿鼻孔拽。」 王曰:「拽得轉頭便好。」師云:「殿下已離宮,J39nB471_p0978b29卻在貧衲丈中。」 王曰:「蒙老和尚者一呼。」師云:「善哉!」J39nB471_p0978b30王推眾官請益,問答繁未錄。 王滿心歡,為住持云:J39nB471_p0978c01「本藩留和尚供養,爾可早晚殷勤。」吩咐竟,近前辭云:J39nB471_p0978c02「暫別老和尚。」師欲下床送, 王辭云:「不必下禪床。」師J39nB471_p0978c03為住持曰:「真是菩薩應身,今乃一會如故。」遂請師進J39nB471_p0978c04府。齋次,云:「望留筆跡供養。」師云:「十二歲出家,獨識生J39nB471_p0978c05死兩箇字。」 殿下欣喜,不免寫上。
J39nB471_p0978c06「雕梁畫棟勝瑤蓬,暖閣煙霞瑞氣充。赤壁階前立萬J39nB471_p0978c07士,玉堂門外坐三公。悠清恍若神仙府,自在情同淨J39nB471_p0978c08飯宮。剎利靈山曾護法,而今依舊占高峰。」書畢,J39nB471_p0978c09王曰:「真乃一味本色,不假思惟。」請師就華家寺,上堂。J39nB471_p0978c10問答法語,編入上堂錄中。
J39nB471_p0978c11康熙十三年甲寅, 王出師湖廣荊州府,迎師南門J39nB471_p0978c12茶庵,正與天印法姪接談,忽報: 「王駕親臨,謁見和J39nB471_p0978c13尚。」溫慰問安竟,茶次, 王曰:「特覲和尚,適遇者位禪J39nB471_p0978c14師相談佛法,可得聞乎?」師云:「若論老僧佛法,未出方J39nB471_p0978c15丈、未面 王時早已說過了也。」 王曰:「必求再得一J39nB471_p0978c16聽。」師舉杯,云:「若論者箇,在昔趙州凡學人來參便叫J39nB471_p0978c17喫茶去,但不知印禪師分中如何示學人?」印答:「話從J39nB471_p0978c18口出。」師云:「出後何如?」印云:「遇客拱手。」師對 王云:「若J39nB471_p0978c19論從上諸佛、諸祖佛法,隨物應酬、見機而答即同如J39nB471_p0978c20是,不識在 殿下分上又作麼生理會?」 王笑曰:「願J39nB471_p0978c21聞。」印云:「兩眼對兩眼。」師云:「畢竟要知落處始得。」印云:J39nB471_p0978c22「伸手只在縮手裏。」師云:「必須要 王口親道出始真。」J39nB471_p0978c23印云:「一切諸法藏,盡在不言中。」師云:「可見 殿下穩J39nB471_p0978c24如泰山。」戶部喇居士云:「不說而說已。」師云:「即今說的J39nB471_p0978c25甚麼話?」士云:「諸佛、諸祖不得而聞。」師云:「正所謂無言J39nB471_p0978c26無說處,纔是 殿下真受用。」
J39nB471_p0978c27夜坐次,西堂云:「看起者事,不與世物相同。」眾不語。師J39nB471_p0978c28云:「古云:『青山綠水祖師意,翠竹黃花古佛心。』那些是J39nB471_p0978c29你不同處?」堂云:「諸佛有口說不著,大悲千手摸不著。」J39nB471_p0978c30師云:「原來是箇鈍滯貨。」堂無語。師云:「猶然。」修靜主云:J39nB471_p0979a01「請師飲過者杯茶。」師對後堂云:「好箇趙老消息,卻被J39nB471_p0979a02旁觀看破了。」後堂云:「夜久更深,明日再判。」師與劈面J39nB471_p0979a03一掌,云:「要了當下便了,說甚麼今朝明日?」
J39nB471_p0979a04江陽胡居士問:「弟子雖持齋,不知心從何明?性從何J39nB471_p0979a05見?」師云:「且先喫茶,後喫飯。」士禮云:「生死不明,乞望指J39nB471_p0979a06示。」師云:「老僧者裏無生死可了。」以偈示云:「問生何曾J39nB471_p0979a07生?問死未嘗死,動靜中不識,腳跟下薦取。使得十二J39nB471_p0979a08時,不被二六使,踏破鐵草鞋,出言合性理。從此不問J39nB471_p0979a09生,亦不覓其死,黃河徹底清,諸佛亦如此。」
J39nB471_p0979a10問:「此挂鐘板是禪期?戒期?」師一喝,云:「是禪?是戒?」進云:J39nB471_p0979a11「如何是三聖境?」師指庭前桂,云:「著眼。」進云:「如何是三J39nB471_p0979a12聖人?」師云:「覿面不親。」僧作禮,師云:「錯會不少。」
J39nB471_p0979a13問:「溈山牯牛,請師牽出。」師起立,以兩手按法几一喝,J39nB471_p0979a14云:「會麼?」僧云:「不會。」師以偈示曰:「分明大白牛,天地暫J39nB471_p0979a15為稠,全體獨露出,為甚眼無眸?」
J39nB471_p0979a16僧進方丈禮謝和尚示偈,師以偈中語徵云:「汝識頂J39nB471_p0979a17門眼否?」進云:「和尚喚甚麼作頂門眼?」師拈扇搖云:「隨J39nB471_p0979a18拈即是眼,扇頭通身涼,風從花裏過,馨香遍十方。」
J39nB471_p0979a19問:「如何是禪師家行履?」師云:「時時恒存抹殺人的心J39nB471_p0979a20腸。」進云:「請和尚從何處下手?」師云:「已此血屍滿地。」進J39nB471_p0979a21云:「學人未見端的。」師亂打趁出。進云:「抹殺死人。」師呵J39nB471_p0979a22呵大笑,云:「死不盡的狗奴亂哤。」
J39nB471_p0979a23問:「和尚隨世亂否?」師云:「隨著世亂。」進云:「因什麼不定?」J39nB471_p0979a24師云:「因不定。」進云:「何故隨宜答人?」師云:「故隨宜。」進云:J39nB471_p0979a25「不隨宜如何?」師云:「不隨宜。」僧拂袖而出,師亦拂袖隨J39nB471_p0979a26出。進云:「作麼?」師云:「隨宜得妙。」
J39nB471_p0979a27問:「弟子遠來瞻禮,乞垂開示,得霑雨露。」師云:「汝昔曾J39nB471_p0979a28何為?」進云:「惟求念一句佛。」師云:「念佛的地獄有分。」進J39nB471_p0979a29云:「參禪如何?」師云:「參禪的作牛作馬。」進云:「和尚如何?」J39nB471_p0979a30師云:「山僧成箇鞭策士。」僧作禮,師策之。
J39nB471_p0979b01士問:「世人俱來朝見聖帝,可能了得生死麼?」師云:「惟J39nB471_p0979b02恐不能親見帝面。若能得見,未有不了。」
J39nB471_p0979b03僧問:「為長老家何得自忙?」師云:「吾不自忙,誰為我忙?」J39nB471_p0979b04僧禮竟,長住不語。師呼侍者傳拄杖過來:「者僧想就J39nB471_p0979b05計較,禪和不開口,諸佛難下手,老僧正要向諸佛難J39nB471_p0979b06下手處正好下手。」其僧茫然而出,杳杳無蹤。
J39nB471_p0979b07士問:「開口即二義,如何是第一義?」師云:「未開口薦取。」J39nB471_p0979b08進云:「漆桶未開時如何?」師云:「風來隨風,雨來隨雨。」進J39nB471_p0979b09云:「開時又如何?」師云:「山即是山,水即是水。」
