J27nB198_p0502a06伏以法幢勝剎,長開閩嶺之春;願駕悲花,不枉靈山J27nB198_p0502a07之囑,光飛束帛,報乏瑤華。恭惟大居士臺下,香海神J27nB198_p0502a08龍、聖朝儀鳳,結來蓮社,稱四君子以為朋;坐破蒲團,J27nB198_p0502a09疑諸尊宿而再世。瞻德雲而遐布,見昔日鼓山之緣;J27nB198_p0502a10思佛日以重輪,荷今時湧泉之約。但某無關祖道,遊J27nB198_p0502a11霞外以放憨;空食人施,在法門而何補?遠慚晏老,難J27nB198_p0502a12酬聖箭之機;近愧先師,莫逭析薪之負。蒙斯眷注,敢J27nB198_p0502a13不趣承?緣先師入塔方新,而貧僧出山未便,庶秋風J27nB198_p0502a14之相待,或杖履之有期,統冀海涌,宥其方命。某曷勝J27nB198_p0502a15悚仄之至?
與張二水相國
J27nB198_p0502a17恭惟大居士,廟堂碩畫、法苑光幢,夙駕願乘,神龍出J27nB198_p0502a18於香海;天然慧性,良駒不待影鞭。昔枉高軒屢承翰J27nB198_p0502a19教,西江吸盡已知不讓,▆壽閩嶺,特來無從,得攀道J27nB198_p0502a20眼,徒敲石鼓,清響誰聞?翻憶渚宮,家聲猶在,未了先J27nB198_p0502a21師公案,莫趨元老台墀。白晝驚雷,箇事還思清獻;銀J27nB198_p0502a22杯變乳,此情欲問子韶。格物無難,賞音有幾?聊通一J27nB198_p0502a23線,敢云千里同風;不出三門,自信毫端匪隔。祗封白J27nB198_p0502a24紙,遠候金湯。
與林季翀宗伯
J27nB198_p0502a26恭惟大居士,補袞妙裁,暫優游於綠野;為霖碩望,難J27nB198_p0502a27高臥於東山,況 聖主思賢?良才首用,如敝鄉鄭方J27nB198_p0502a28水先生新膺台鼎,則翁臺乃金粟再世,定卜金甌。先J27nB198_p0502a29大師昔辱光儀,枉顧周旋麈論,誾上座每想徽猷親J27nB198_p0502a30炙,一快禪心。知慧鏡纖翳不存,笑高僧就墻喚出。茲J27nB198_p0502b01為榕城諸薦紳大士招席鼓山,重圓先師一未了公J27nB198_p0502b02案,勉臨福地龍門,雖近未繇坐對春風,鴻羽將飛,聊J27nB198_p0502b03代躬瞻山斗,所願佛祖庭中雙豁乾坤正眼,人天叢J27nB198_p0502b04裏益高城塹法門。臨楮曷勝虔候?
答武林眾鄉紳居士附請啟
J27nB198_p0502b06伏以峰頂碧雲,妙開遮於無意;天心朗月,普示現J27nB198_p0502b07於隨方。自魔外之力寢疆,而祖師之傳漸失,驢呈J27nB198_p0502b08虎技、蟲咬獅身,不辯皂白青黃,嫌依舊樣;亂動琵J27nB198_p0502b09琶鼓鈸,喜變新聲。苟非直接初祖之機,誰能倒用J27nB198_p0502b10如來之印?恭惟雪關大師,光映博山爐,照天照地:J27nB198_p0502b11氣吸西江水,浸古浸今。句活如走盤之珠,時聞霰J27nB198_p0502b12集;理融似出峽之瀑,詎待晲消?攝化十方居,非呆J27nB198_p0502b13樁枯木;轉移萬類出,為疾風震霆。惟茲武林,實為J27nB198_p0502b14善國,夙習西方之觀、近聞東渡之機,雖欲闖玄關,J27nB198_p0502b15而未明宗主。惟老和尚正法堅持,眾生愍視自了,J27nB198_p0502b16真徹骨見髓,為人肯帶水拖泥,劍口吹毛殺活如J27nB198_p0502b17意、杖頭豁眼痛癢自知,虎跑寺舊店新開、壽昌師J27nB198_p0502b18積貨廣賣,撈得一箇半箇,頓令老馬生駒;滅卻千J27nB198_p0502b19魔萬魔,不使野狐假虎。冷灰爆豆,飛雪點爐,豈惟J27nB198_p0502b20驚混集之龍蛇?亦以潤太平之草木。願從勤請,頫J27nB198_p0502b21慰虔思。謹啟。

J27nB198_p0502b28伏以獅絃高奏,遙傳毘耶之聲;虎錫閒遊,將入五雲J27nB198_p0502b29之塢,何期舟次,忽拜箋函。況佛地必稱武林,惟宰官J27nB198_p0502b30皆為菩薩,樹干城於法苑,羨群公乘願再來,受付囑J27nB198_p0502c01於靈山,想在處津梁靡倦。嗟芙渠不生原陸、慚跛驢J27nB198_p0502c02寧及象龍,華嚴知識,率多示現名場;少室兒孫,輓近J27nB198_p0502c03翻成戲具。禪門收拾不住,無乃轉讓鴻儒;祖燈冀望J27nB198_p0502c04重光,或可有待來哲。佩先德說尺行寸之訓,便是登J27nB198_p0502c05堂;修下衲投璚報李之章,願辭執耳。政恐座中有客,J27nB198_p0502c06莫唱鷓鴣;久知瓶裏呼鵝,盡成舟鳳。倘遊窣堵,相期J27nB198_p0502c07拈出片香;許酌跑泉,不妨訂盟華剎。恭裁短劄,深謝J27nB198_p0502c08高情。臨楮曷勝瞻溯!
答虎跑慧公附請啟
J27nB198_p0502c10伏以普天暗室,假慧日以開明;千仞悲幢,向中流J27nB198_p0502c11而砥柱。殷殷拯溺,有望在茲;耿耿皈心,爰瞻惟命。J27nB198_p0502c12恭惟和尚,肘後懸博山之真印、胸前湧卍字之奇J27nB198_p0502c13文,建旗鼓而殺活因人、走龍蛇而風雲匝地,頓令J27nB198_p0502c14山嶽平沉,星辰壁立。顧鄙山創自寰祖,再造幻師,J27nB198_p0502c15迢遞於今,宗門益墜。敬祈飛錫惠臨、威獰特震,可J27nB198_p0502c16使山中諸祖冷骨重溫、檻外跑泉寒花自汎,喚醒J27nB198_p0502c17腳跟下事,箇箇知恩;不負頂門上針,人人出血。臨J27nB198_p0502c18楮曷勝翹佇之至。
J27nB198_p0502c19名山勝剎,從昔繼開,有人打鼓彈琶,貴在唱酬應手。J27nB198_p0502c20久聆道譽,千指樂從,欲溯玄風,孤策懸望。虎跑泉而J27nB198_p0502c21涌醴,思共酌於椰瓢;獅擎座以鋪茵,媿濫虛于麈拂。J27nB198_p0502c22倘繞匝寰師之塔,或得隨諗老之笻,先指五雲、繼遊J27nB198_p0502c23奧域,深眸苦口,不妨與諸禪德劇談;高座白椎,原自J27nB198_p0502c24有一方耆碩。實冀垂慈高鑒,俯遂出山本懷。憑楮遙J27nB198_p0502c25辭,臨風布謝。
復妙行眾檀護
J27nB198_p0502c27雲棲杖笠未游,虎跑催符便至,流連匝月,欲返故山,J27nB198_p0502c28忽承眾居士大檀越瑤函下及、珍幣殷勤,意在鼎新J27nB198_p0502c29妙行、恢復喻老奇跡。獨慚薄德眇躬,終恐難肩重任,J27nB198_p0502c30況地當佛奧祖區,知僧多玄梁法棟,倘容偷懶,別迓J27nB198_p0503a01高閒,萬或布諾不施,一當僑居暫借,且莫管揚大化,J27nB198_p0503a02庶得與諸明公指瓶論道,家風追遠藥山;揮扇談玄,J27nB198_p0503a03舊案重翻旻老,此亦鄙願所欣愜也。造次高情,奚謝J27nB198_p0503a04明德?
復吳江眾居士
J27nB198_p0503a06赤腳踏寒冰,六月涼生火宅;白雲封碧嶂,一聲雁過J27nB198_p0503a07茆堂,正枯坐以無聊,驚華箋而忽賁。雙徑歷來法窟,J27nB198_p0503a08真獅子吼時時響振霜林;一國尊稱聖師,大龍王池J27nB198_p0503a09滾滾祥開月殿。千有餘年勝概,作興必藉名賢;八十J27nB198_p0503a10七人傳燈,承接還須郢匠。凌霄峰畔應識有人、興聖J27nB198_p0503a11堂前登座已久,在群公協其聲調,不難賡雪曲之歌;J27nB198_p0503a12聽下衲別有機緣,當展拜祖庭之側。所望眾居士深J27nB198_p0503a13追遠到、踐實履真,入門便是,春風吹不動之軒;登岸J27nB198_p0503a14非遙,野渡橫無人之棹,俱作截流香象、遍為護法金J27nB198_p0503a15剛。握塵何期?焚檀致謝。
尺牘瀛山

J27nB198_p0503a18法門真吼,世久隳其幢矣!自非豪材傑幹,於宗門下J27nB198_p0503a19事莫易支傾。然此道有根智卓邁之姿,概可得之,大J27nB198_p0503a20都為趁俊過頭收拾不下,雖欲趨向上一路,莫不盡J27nB198_p0503a21其巧力,望崖而退下,稍兒贏得一場懡㦬。惟是大居J27nB198_p0503a22士夙蒔往熏,圓機活眼,兼於海內尊宿多參承法印,J27nB198_p0503a23故踐真蹈實,人咸仰是毘耶後身。愚竊景如《華嚴》知J27nB198_p0503a24識,雖未親聆謦欬,亦嘗於撰述中私淑大教多矣!鈍J27nB198_p0503a25根虛受,老漢剪拂,望先德風規,如跛驢學象王之步,J27nB198_p0503a26好生慚恧。年來厭倦心生,聊覓一枝棲息。昔龍山客J27nB198_p0503a27到,燒菴便遯,顧自抱拙,素非其儔,豈敢曰喫折腳鐺J27nB198_p0503a28邊飯作佳話也?貫公隱景星巖有云:「休將瑣末人間J27nB198_p0503a29事,換我一生林下閒。」此與鄙懷略近,生平不敢效顰,J27nB198_p0503a30惟盡力行其可行、止其可止耳!來教謂山僧在博山J27nB198_p0503b01如妙喜之在圜悟,雖承獎借過分,自揣肖擬無似,然J27nB198_p0503b02彼當時向樹倒藤枯句邊通身慶快。誾上座慚媿,二J27nB198_p0503b03十餘年扶箇破沙盤不起,不獨遠望妙喜老人頭腦J27nB198_p0503b04迥別,抑亦近與博山和尚眉眼較殊,然果得底人又J27nB198_p0503b05何嘗不同一鼻孔通風耶?參學兒若不識破自家肝J27nB198_p0503b06膈上病,要與古人把手同行,未免依稀越國、彷彿楊J27nB198_p0503b07州。所以今時禪者多是見地淆雜,渾同作解,平時不J27nB198_p0503b08曾操履分明,無決了智,一旦涉歷境緣,胸中漫無諦J27nB198_p0503b09當,不是把古人格則語為憑仗,便被目前逆順境所J27nB198_p0503b10掣肘。直饒總不與麼,亦是學壺公隱身術子,驀地與J27nB198_p0503b11伊打破壺兒,敢保佛界易入,魔界又難透也。故臨濟J27nB198_p0503b12用驅耕奪食之機、洞上合轉位就功之妙,善融會此J27nB198_p0503b13兩宗奧旨,則五宗無不合轍,自然家活闊大,應變非J27nB198_p0503b14常。若一向在蒲團上討、方冊語脈中求,便摸索不著;J27nB198_p0503b15必須就緣境上勘破,始得大自在,縱忙不徹時亦是J27nB198_p0503b16閒不徹也,惟一類擔版人難投此劑。趙州謂:「要與空J27nB198_p0503b17王為弟子,莫教心病最難醫。」是他在膏肓裏病過一J27nB198_p0503b18番來,故得起瘠回春,自然說著苦心中事也。大居士J27nB198_p0503b19是屋裏人,故敢對說家常話,不然世諦寒暄徒勤筆J27nB198_p0503b20札。惟大居士切于此、徹于此,則與遠錄公碁盤著著J27nB198_p0503b21對手山野,何敢傍添一子?和尚是貴鄉曲人,自當了J27nB198_p0503b22浮山未了之局,或有緣,晤坐春風中有日矣!
復余集生冏卿
J27nB198_p0503b24去歲,道兄至博山,撥草瞻風大有來繇,正如金龍出J27nB198_p0503b25水,而和尚似妙翅急提,拏雲攫霧,已具一副爪鱗;倒J27nB198_p0503b26嶽傾湫,未見滔天白浪。誾上座不合從傍敲擊,被道J27nB198_p0503b27兄覷破不是好心。然一片熱腸不過求箇同參,將老J27nB198_p0503b28漢拄杖子雙手交付,知道兄中毒已深、報怨不少,千J27nB198_p0503b29斤擔子還須有力丈夫,第不識末後一句曾徹底掀J27nB198_p0503b30翻否?和尚得得而來,大半為道兄點開活眼,了卻生J27nB198_p0503c01平緣會,恨薄祜人不及翼行,為初住片茆動身不便,J27nB198_p0503c02道兄倘有意乎法門,昆仲當留一蒲團地,俟他日索J27nB198_p0503c03取那顆神珠,不妨傾出栲栳,勿謂依樣畫貓兒殊非J27nB198_p0503c04妙手。願道兄快些撥轉走盤,非但勘破仰山東寺,且J27nB198_p0503c05又捉倒佛鑑圜悟也。
答方士雄居士
J27nB198_p0503c07居士已具大乘根力,所得灼有根據,既迸開一線,須J27nB198_p0503c08踏著向上關捩徹骨徹髓,然後千差萬別一串穿過。J27nB198_p0503c09蓋佛祖堂奧未易窺測,大人作略原不尋常,如善財J27nB198_p0503c10發菩提心已更踏步南詢,見五十三員不唧瀏,然後J27nB198_p0503c11刀山火聚虎穴魔宮,都得遊戲三昧。況宗門中許多J27nB198_p0503c12聱訛公案,若秪將一箇道理會去,未免囫圇吞棗,所J27nB198_p0503c13以道:「向上一路,千聖不傳。」又云:「道曠無涯,逢人不盡。」J27nB198_p0503c14彼善財參見彌勒後復指見文殊,非無意謂自是學J27nB198_p0503c15地中人,心識麤浮不極其致。鄙意亦似寒山忘卻來J27nB198_p0503c16時路、拾得相將攜手歸,不知居士肯然其說否?居士J27nB198_p0503c17若果到不疑之地,博山草鞋錢正好還卻,何故在屋J27nB198_p0503c18裏販楊州?得見明眼人,不妨留一兩則唱酬,為法門J27nB198_p0503c19盛事也。
答蔣一個文學
J27nB198_p0503c21祖庭靈氣大半在桐子國中,故人龍僧鳳互挺奇傑,J27nB198_p0503c22無如此一時之盛,而當世稱才品者,又望居士赤幟J27nB198_p0503c23為前標,然則優缽天花豈作凡卉香艷耶?近時學禪J27nB198_p0503c24者紛如牛毛,求其妙悟者不啻麟頂覓角,病在靈心J27nB198_p0503c25太活,逞巧辨則如花枝畫出、露智刃則便四射光芒,J27nB198_p0503c26擬吐驚人句、翻成落套詩。蓋最初要按下雲頭,如寒J27nB198_p0503c27巖立雪始得枯木回春,果到此箇境界,雖孔顏未必J27nB198_p0503c28知有此樂,況向上事重玄復妙靈變無方,聖智未易J27nB198_p0503c29管窺,凡情焉能蠡測?必也誠重情輕,自然求深願遂,J27nB198_p0503c30譬旱地穿泉,不得水終不放下鍬子。右是箇一腳踏J27nB198_p0504a01到底漢子,此說卻又打之遶。噫!生知敏識,震旦復有J27nB198_p0504a02幾人?居士是我輩已上人,更不敢以穢食置公寶器,J27nB198_p0504a03第不識是拋竿擲釣手、是溯流尋源人耳!論此事須J27nB198_p0504a04得箇入處,方好共盤喫飯各路還家;不然,非但被博J27nB198_p0504a05山和尚瞞,又恐遭雪關攔卻路頭在。若能掉臂橫行,J27nB198_p0504a06自當放開一線道也。
與詹禹明居士
J27nB198_p0504a08居士仙瑩其姿、佛鏤其骨,一雙智眼看破濁世上事,J27nB198_p0504a09如弄棚頭傀儡,若更向祖師門下參尋要旨迸開衣J27nB198_p0504a10線,則知止字法門便與法身理同。更透法身向上事,J27nB198_p0504a11則塵塵三昧如揭衣裾見寶,不待傍人手撥,自然轆J27nB198_p0504a12轆地轉也。
與毛鑑仲文學
J27nB198_p0504a14居士品俊神清,手標秀出,必夙從般若中來,肯從此J27nB198_p0504a15培植善根以禪理究心,不但超然世網如出水蓮花,J27nB198_p0504a16且得洞明自性如空中樓閣,何等玲瓏也?惟望內勤J27nB198_p0504a17返照、外積功德,至戒殺放生尤為日用中破業緣要J27nB198_p0504a18事,昔人活龜蟻微命,而享報擢第封侯,以居士之高J27nB198_p0504a19明,知不在山僧饒舌也。
答座元知非正公
J27nB198_p0504a21生平不望報,緣熱處可過冷處不妨,盡覺此破院風J27nB198_p0504a22光住亦恰好,譬之橘皮作湯、毬花為罏,坐盤中翫月,J27nB198_p0504a23政公方以為清讙,同流不無蹙額,蓋濃淡異趣,亦各J27nB198_p0504a24從其天性不可強也。近日情況閒甚,思得道兄笑言J27nB198_p0504a25句日,菜湯稀粥亦不甚難為東道也。
答石浪關主
J27nB198_p0504a27參禪明理者多,善變其用者無幾箇耳!真得妙悟者,J27nB198_p0504a28如神龍借一杯水便乃興雲作雨,終不學黿鼉戀窟,J27nB198_p0504a29多見閉門作活,設盡計較不開交,總是命根子撲不J27nB198_p0504a30斷,生滅微細流注,不是走作便蹲窠臼。若是箇穿膽J27nB198_p0504b01拶髓漢,就底蘊裏一齊勘破,直得腳跟下紅絲線斷、J27nB198_p0504b02舌頭上十字關開,向千聖頂𩕳倒立橫行,遣得去、呼J27nB198_p0504b03得來,通身口眼,天下人不奈渠何?渠能奈得天下人J27nB198_p0504b04何?倘不到這田地,未免向別人架下行,秪得稽首歸J27nB198_p0504b05命,望他曲盝上老漢放光令我開悟,豈不痛屈哉?石J27nB198_p0504b06浪道友還是箇殺佛殺祖底闡提,還是箇知識手裏J27nB198_p0504b07乞命人耶?妙喜道:「大膽駕頭衝突過,小膽哀鳴告所J27nB198_p0504b08繇。」有此等標概,參學自然不立下風;不然,非但不能J27nB198_p0504b09捋虎口鬚,恐不免遭其猛噬也。
與夏伯功太學
J27nB198_p0504b11讀歸雲堂詩,知汪文定公嘗遊瀛山也,蒼崖摩漢獨J27nB198_p0504b12少飛流,此中頗得岑寂之娛。每想昔賢屆止,必為古J27nB198_p0504b13尊宿建幢地,今惟一荒村破院,然興隆三寶俟乎有J27nB198_p0504b14力量人,倘台軺肯為借光,可以共蒲團茗碗,商量本J27nB198_p0504b15地風光,洞口桃花指出靈雲面目。想明公皆般若中J27nB198_p0504b16人,當不令香火緣成落莫也。
與何惺谷居士
J27nB198_p0504b18觀居士所輯之稿,見地儘有,第參得古人言句及經J27nB198_p0504b19教中義理禪多,故下筆便波瀾疊疊,若是透頂徹底J27nB198_p0504b20漢,掀翻今古別有一副爐韝,拈一毫頭來作無邊佛J27nB198_p0504b21事,可以應機答話,識得古今人一切言句、破得天下J27nB198_p0504b22人一切疑情,譬善殺人者向咽喉下一刀便了,若持J27nB198_p0504b23刀亂砍,非但不能截人命根,抑且自己傷鋒犯手。如J27nB198_p0504b24書中與諸公上人駁論,彼此爭長各不相下,大都金J27nB198_p0504b25屑未空、道眼欠圓,所以鑑來機不的,大似惡口小家J27nB198_p0504b26鬥舌一場,未免勝負有在。須是自家田地穩當,步步J27nB198_p0504b27踏著實地,縱渠來徵詰辯難,輕輕捏住鼻頭,無伊出J27nB198_p0504b28氣處,何煩許多葛藤要證明此事耶?就使說得十分J27nB198_p0504b29明白,所謂言語愈多去道轉遠,秪成得箇賣滯貨搬J27nB198_p0504b30骨董的手腳,未有肯綮之談服得天下具眼人心也。J27nB198_p0504c01竊謂此稿宜藏在他日操履到佛祖不思議境界,從J27nB198_p0504c02頭按過方可,此時且望再加徹底工夫,不得粘皮綴J27nB198_p0504c03骨將古人言句及經教上所得視如殘瀋,縱自己胸J27nB198_p0504c04中流出亦須盡情吐卻斬新條令,然後運無畏之辯J27nB198_p0504c05才、開八面之雄鋒,受勍敵於天下,雖佛祖再出頭來,J27nB198_p0504c06亦不敢正眼覷著也。若即刊行,時流者駭以為奇,恐J27nB198_p0504c07明眼人見,猶是藥汞銀未入煆鍊也。僭妄之極,恃在J27nB198_p0504c08道愛。諒不怪。
省鄭六具居士
J27nB198_p0504c10古者道:「劫火洞然,世界俱壞,惟有這箇不壞。」門下若J27nB198_p0504c11得這箇不壞受用,便是鎮家之寶。彼幻化蘧廬忽有J27nB198_p0504c12忽無,縱燒了更可新造,如天帝釋插一莖草,便現寶J27nB198_p0504c13殿璚樓,想門下久已看破世境塵勞如夢幻空花,連J27nB198_p0504c14這箇不壞底也要颺卻,況可壞者而復有芥帶乎?雖J27nB198_p0504c15然災之一字也不可輕易放過,聖賢猶有反咎,愚亦J27nB198_p0504c16不敢為門下說空話,以譬喻恐見尤耳!
與鄭赤求文學
J27nB198_p0504c18來教與偈,捧讀間如撞入水晶宮,披襟相對腳下廉J27nB198_p0504c19纖俱絕矣!然宗門秪喚作法身邊事,更有法身向上J27nB198_p0504c20事,何得自諱卻也?杜順和尚頌云:「懷州牛喫禾,益州J27nB198_p0504c21馬腹脹;天下覓醫人,灸豬左膊上。」此正向上人行履,J27nB198_p0504c22是文殊普賢大人境界,不知門下能與此偈相應否?J27nB198_p0504c23若能,則日用中如龍得水、似虎排山,雖萬境紛擾於J27nB198_p0504c24前,著著皆遊戲三昧,縱橫自在,不離魔界即是佛界。J27nB198_p0504c25六祖云:「佛法在世間,不離世間覺。」可見春來無處不J27nB198_p0504c26開花也。
答楊捨逸居士

J27nB198_p0505a05株守一隅、藤牽百事,望毘陵如在天上;每思光霽,莫J27nB198_p0505a06逐雲飛,曇公來辱,華韓注存,高情遠顧,似於楮穎間J27nB198_p0505a07恍對真人面目。想老居士靈根天植,慧與福齊,選官J27nB198_p0505a08選佛兩幟爭高第,渺隔蒹葭,不及握麈共譚追深扣J27nB198_p0505a09遠。昔人謂:「此事直須高高山頂立、深深海底行,閨閣J27nB198_p0505a10中物捨不得便為滲漏。」不知公於此旨諦當否?方外J27nB198_p0505a11寒暄,何干至聽?布此為侯,冀有賞音。

J27nB198_p0505a13昨承枉駕空山,高論往復如對毘耶,先生盡曼殊機J27nB198_p0505a14來,獻酬不及,第向上關捩子重重覷透,一串穿來,再J27nB198_p0505a15攜蒲團拄杖向別箇峰頭尋野衲腳跟在何處點地。J27nB198_p0505a16大居士窮高極遠,深固難知,第所望者秪貴田地穩J27nB198_p0505a17密,得箇千了百當,那時快活不徹也。分宜摳衣趨候J27nB198_p0505a18側坐春風,緣久未出山,錫聲一振恐又驚畫樓鶯囀J27nB198_p0505a19也。

J27nB198_p0505a21辱大居士垂問,千機頓發,滿盤托出,可謂通身是口J27nB198_p0505a22矣!所貴者先要全身拶入,將此件鶻臭布衫重重扯J27nB198_p0505a23破,密密縫來,然後龍袖拂開全體現、象王行處絕狐J27nB198_p0505a24蹤,其機理必一齊貫徹也。如命根難斷者,須向萬仞J27nB198_p0505a25峰頭打箇筋斗下來,始可橫衝直撞,推倒吸乾,入細J27nB198_p0505a26入麤,和泥合水。蓋參禪人識漏不盡,則被識心哄入J27nB198_p0505a27悟境,轉深轉有,愈妙愈玄,喚作守他珍御,若打疊不J27nB198_p0505a28下反被箇悟字坑殺,必須隨他哄透頂底,覷破七穿J27nB198_p0505a29八穴,方好和悟字吐卻,始信古德道:「昔日迷悟非迷,J27nB198_p0505a30今日悟迷非悟。」此乃透過迷悟兩關,如人得效傳方,J27nB198_p0505b01真有靈驗也。大居士非常作略,自是大人境界,待一J27nB198_p0505b02口吸盡西江,其徹證向上關捩定無難矣!何俟山野J27nB198_p0505b03饒舌?第一片熱腸更欲起疑,疑到不疑之地,方可打J27nB198_p0505b04鼓笛相賀也。

J27nB198_p0505b06紫陽先生少年喜看《徑山語錄》,又因謙禪師悟入,則J27nB198_p0505b07其性理之學亦淵源有自矣!後遍註經傳,為儒宗千J27nB198_p0505b08古之雄。向使不力排佛學,則儒學微而佛學盛,故知J27nB198_p0505b09此老之排佛非排佛理之精麤,乃排其好尚之偏者,J27nB198_p0505b10亦冀濂洛洙泗之傳不致冷落也。然雖衛道有功,窺J27nB198_p0505b11其心事殆亦類乎逢蒙者矣!故晚年作詩多降歎禪J27nB198_p0505b12門,復稱達磨一宗視義學猶為高妙有故,盻指心性J27nB198_p0505b13名言,超有無之句,蓋其功業已成,始平心佛老,故作J27nB198_p0505b14定論亦謂佛氏之學與儒理甚相似,然則生平排佛J27nB198_p0505b15之心始末俱露矣!如韓昌黎公作《原道論》,深溝高壘J27nB198_p0505b16以拒佛老,後謁大顛禪師乃有悟,始知其門風高峻J27nB198_p0505b17未易入也。故明道先生至潮州訪遺書及留衣亭,乃J27nB198_p0505b18作詩以諷之,其心跡又被此老窺破矣!所以濂洛二J27nB198_p0505b19程諸君子皆不甚毀佛,且遍參宗門諸大老,如《太極J27nB198_p0505b20圖說》得東林總之旨訣也。後之通儒兼稟佛學者,莫J27nB198_p0505b21不鑑二賢之用心所在,但植教甚嚴、偏斥太過,抑多J27nB198_p0505b22不韙其說。如羅景綸自稱早年洞究釋氏之學,故於J27nB198_p0505b23佛理惟有信而不諱也。來教謂「佛不譚性命,不與彝J27nB198_p0505b24物作則,不知覺所自來及有體無用」等問,蓋佛稱大J27nB198_p0505b25覺,豈不知覺所自來?如〈華嚴偈〉云:「若人欲了知,三世J27nB198_p0505b26一切佛;應觀法界性,一切惟心造。」既曰惟心,則凡言J27nB198_p0505b27性、言命、言體、言用,一切皆心也,如飲海一滴,味具百J27nB198_p0505b28川。論乎性也,則凡言覺、言命、言體、言用,一切皆性也。J27nB198_p0505b29以命繇心造,故惟一心,不說性命;以用在體中,體從J27nB198_p0505b30用攝,未有無用之體、未有無體之用,如燈必有光,火J27nB198_p0505c01必有熱,豈有舉用而遺乎體者也?如《華嚴》四種法界J27nB198_p0505c02有理無礙法界、事無礙法界、事理無礙法界、事事無J27nB198_p0505c03礙法界。若入得理無礙法界,則所問性之與命、體之J27nB198_p0505c04與用,與夫覺所自來、為物彝則者,無不明矣!入得事J27nB198_p0505c05無礙法界,則知先佛設教有權有實、有事有理、有頓J27nB198_p0505c06有漸、有偏有圓,及孔老隨時制教之疑,無不明矣!入J27nB198_p0505c07得事理無礙法界,則佛法即是世間法、世間法即是J27nB198_p0505c08佛法,此二無不明矣!入得事事無礙法界,則知達磨J27nB198_p0505c09不立文字,復以《楞伽》印心,立文字亦得、不立文字亦J27nB198_p0505c10得,指禪即淨土亦得、指淨土即禪亦得、禪淨兼修亦J27nB198_p0505c11得、禪淨持操亦得,乃至婦人孺子抵掌嬉笑,皆是侈J27nB198_p0505c12譚佛事。無厭足王之好殺、摩登伽女之邪穢,雲門偃J27nB198_p0505c13之辣棒、玉泉皓之布裙,及呵佛謗法亦游戲三昧,如J27nB198_p0505c14昌黎、晦菴之毀斥,此道皆事事無礙境界也。可謂百J27nB198_p0505c15花叢裏過,一葉不沾身。參學人到此田地,則造化在J27nB198_p0505c16手,性命兩字復是何物哉?蓋此箇境界,直得三覺已J27nB198_p0505c17圓,向佛祖頭上橫行直走、魔王隊裏東倒西歪,豈不J27nB198_p0505c18知覺所自來乎?能以十法界為一大韝洪爐,將四聖J27nB198_p0505c19六凡無不陶鑄,孰有彝物而不作則也哉?但當深參J27nB198_p0505c20遠到研窮祖師妙旨,博通三藏教乘,然後回視外學,J27nB198_p0505c21不啻牛涔之擬淵海也。門下高明久著,徹鑑無餘,何J27nB198_p0505c22俟山野饒舌?茲承華翰下問,略述大概以酬來意。以J27nB198_p0505c23門下深信佛乘,故不敢以胸臆之論瀆於鈞聽,幸為J27nB198_p0505c24照察是望。
與解初上座
J27nB198_p0505c26公於此道,肯心參究亦切切矣!第生滅流注變化多J27nB198_p0505c27端,必須坐斷千差意路,向萬仞崖頭撒手一回,然後J27nB198_p0505c28臨機應物如珠走盤,不但轉得塵勞歸自己,且轉得J27nB198_p0505c29自己歸塵勞;苟有纖毫情識,及佛法知見不空,則未J27nB198_p0505c30免荊棘林礙塞胸次矣!幸當加意研窮到大安樂田J27nB198_p0506a01地,始可隨緣放曠也。
與鄭方水太史
J27nB198_p0506a03明公妙辯夙慧,黏縛皆脫,雖事朝參,如方朔吏隱金J27nB198_p0506a04門,視出猶處。今聖天子當扆,賢無不用,而宏猷碩抱J27nB198_p0506a05如明公者,知遇必隆。青山雖好,恐未遂疏廣之高,故J27nB198_p0506a06不欲作急流勇退語以惑鈞聽,謂今日之子瞻固不J27nB198_p0506a07藉參寥八行然後灑落也。道無尊賤,惟愛畏兩關打J27nB198_p0506a08得過,皆有自繇分。昔人謂:「樞得其環中,妙應無窮。」則J27nB198_p0506a09知君臣道合,默協洞上宗風,佛法不在廟堂之外,明J27nB198_p0506a10公實能似之矣!

J27nB198_p0506a12門下以實德行實政,洞燭民間苦瘵,使輦轂下無一J27nB198_p0506a13物不在覆載煦濡之中,如此行履便是《華嚴》知識境J27nB198_p0506a14界,又何必談玅說玄然後為修持徑路哉?惟在力行J27nB198_p0506a15不倦,雖有剛強難化之民,亦惟將此不倦之心修菩J27nB198_p0506a16提行,應折伏者而折伏之、應攝受者而攝受之,則頑J27nB198_p0506a17石可以點化,況同稟血氣者乎?故諸佛菩薩從無量J27nB198_p0506a18劫來化導眾生,多就國王宰官身,行其難行、忍其難J27nB198_p0506a19忍,方成就福德智慧,誓度盡器界中一切有緣也。
與余毓蟾刺史
J27nB198_p0506a21捧來教,知枕席上多般生受,厭此苦器真度日如年J27nB198_p0506a22也。第業有定報、生有定命,促之莫得、延之無方,但拼J27nB198_p0506a23著箇死字時節若到,撒手便行。目前且隨痛忍痛、遇J27nB198_p0506a24苦叫苦,更不作厭苦救痛之想,直於痛苦處看破此J27nB198_p0506a25受痛苦底是阿誰?則痛苦奈何不下底亦連贓捉敗J27nB198_p0506a26矣!此乃禪家對治病苦生死底玅藥,試為門下施此J27nB198_p0506a27真方以博一笑,想門下見時必然噴案,惟善自調慰。J27nB198_p0506a28不贅。
與李龍石太守
J27nB198_p0506a30學佛法易,先推倒此一座五蘊山頭為難,苟情關不J27nB198_p0506b01破、識鎖未開,縱智辯過於鶖子、聞見齊於難陀,其奈J27nB198_p0506b02命根不斷生滅熾然何?吾不知老居士何為而捷至J27nB198_p0506b03於道如此其爽快耶?可謂香象過河,兔馬奚及。往遊J27nB198_p0506b04齊昌甚辱道愛,至今想毘耶齋頭團欒共話,真不減J27nB198_p0506b05龐家父子也。
與袁滄孺刺史
J27nB198_p0506b07明公江漢碩儒,雙融真俗,嚮慕光霽,匪夕斯朝,然未J27nB198_p0506b08常不在鏡智中相對眉宇以譚第一義諦也。昔張無J27nB198_p0506b09垢居士與徑山杲公論格物,山笑曰:「子韶秪知格物,J27nB198_p0506b10而不知物格。」再徵辨問,士遂豁然有省,乃曰:「子韶格J27nB198_p0506b11物,妙喜物格;欲識一貫,兩箇五百。」山然之。明公於此J27nB198_p0506b12道參究有年必有深詣,貧衲敢借一問聊為相見,秪J27nB198_p0506b13如格物與物格還是同箇鼻孔通風?還是各自咽喉J27nB198_p0506b14出氣?未審格物在先,物格在後;抑物格在先,格物在J27nB198_p0506b15後耶?若道本來無物可格,無後無先,便落在古人圈J27nB198_p0506b16繢;若道有物可格,有先有後,又落在今時窠臼。畢竟J27nB198_p0506b17作麼生得箇不涉古今有無?請別道一句以慰翹渴,J27nB198_p0506b18庶不虛與至人生同時、道同契也。
與彭質先國博
J27nB198_p0506b20接手教,知近來工夫緊切道眼將開,故有種種魔事J27nB198_p0506b21來擾。昔黃面老人坐菩提樹下垂成正覺時,波旬弄J27nB198_p0506b22盡伎倆不奈渠何,以得甘露滅,遂能降伏魔軍。況我J27nB198_p0506b23博地凡夫夙業深厚,初機入道,未免道高一尺魔高J27nB198_p0506b24一丈,必須信力愈堅、道念愈篤,如豎金剛勝幢,彼將J27nB198_p0506b25自隳裂矣!第徹理人分上,雖歷諸患難,如夢事、如影J27nB198_p0506b26戲,不作苦境想、不作魔障想。《法華》云:「如有勇健能為J27nB198_p0506b27難事,王解髻中明珠與之。」以其能與諸魔共戰,兵勝J27nB198_p0506b28有功也。古德云:「入得佛境界易,入得魔境界難。」然則J27nB198_p0506b29拂逆我者、顛沛我者,正是好遭際處,亦是天龍成就J27nB198_p0506b30人處,如烹金謝火治玉蒙石則感恩無地,若更印以J27nB198_p0506c01道眼,則又當作戰勝想、賜珠想,視此魔境即珠光發J27nB198_p0506c02現,妙在撥轉便轆轆地耳!世尊曠劫修行,歷試諸境,J27nB198_p0506c03皆極難行難忍之事,無一惡趣不生、無一業軀不受,J27nB198_p0506c04大千世界無一芥子許不是捨身命處,然後靈山湧J27nB198_p0506c05現,助揚法化,或為常隨、或為影響,所以打鼓弄琵琶,J27nB198_p0506c06相逢兩會;家無一怨親,不為佛子也。推此而言,則今J27nB198_p0506c07之子女緣、冤賊緣皆當轉作道緣,則愛憎苦惱等情J27nB198_p0506c08總是莊嚴菩提妙用。此是點鐵成金語,知此則可轉J27nB198_p0506c09禍為福、轉物為道,造化入吾手矣!蓋大凡修因,必須J27nB198_p0506c10就緣境打得過,要見千摧不倒、百折不壞,方成一株J27nB198_p0506c11大樹,覆蔭得天下人也。來云:「家道殘破矣!骨肉慘傷J27nB198_p0506c12矣!功名偃蹇矣!尚自寢食不失其常、志願不更其故。」J27nB198_p0506c13雖亦忍力所到,尚似排遣未盡釋然、忘情消融歸于J27nB198_p0506c14寂滅地耳!又云:「晨起奔馳,夜就鼾睡,驀然開眼,戲耶?J27nB198_p0506c15夢耶?世事如斯,究竟安在?」此乃心猶涉境,工夫不得J27nB198_p0506c16力處。若還信得及、把得定,十二時中有自繇分,豈被J27nB198_p0506c17識情所轉耶?如雪巖問高峰:「日間浩浩作得主麼?睡J27nB198_p0506c18夢中作得主麼?」峰俱答云:「作得主。」及問他:「無夢無想,J27nB198_p0506c19主在甚麼處?」便不能加答。後因鄰單推枕落地,便豁J27nB198_p0506c20然大悟云:「由來秪是舊時人,不改舊時行履處。」質先J27nB198_p0506c21居士但恁麼依樣畫葫蘆參去,定有徹頭日子在,幸J27nB198_p0506c22深信焉!
與袁公寮太學
J27nB198_p0506c24事貴高識、行貴實踐、理貴真參,唯雄傑丈夫肯自己J27nB198_p0506c25擔當,則世出世間不見有難為之事;苟從旁觀望欲J27nB198_p0506c26入不入,所謂繞指柔非百鍊鋼耳!故一超直入,唯廣J27nB198_p0506c27額先生颺下刀來,自謂千佛中一數,豈不稱大勇烈J27nB198_p0506c28哉?然以理觀之,舊佛新成尚多箇成字,況以難字為J27nB198_p0506c29關,便如萬里望崖州,恨不得到耶?即到後更須洗刮J27nB198_p0506c30陶汰,極盡功力,然後處順如逆、居逆猶順,于一切境J27nB198_p0507a01緣中得游戲自在,不然荊棘林非容易過得也。
答周貫庵居士
J27nB198_p0507a03即心是佛,是馬大師答大梅和尚問也。大梅住山三J27nB198_p0507a04十年,秪將這話頭用心,後馬大師著僧往問:「汝得何J27nB198_p0507a05道理便此住山?」梅云:「大師教我即心是佛。」僧云:「大師J27nB198_p0507a06如今卻又道非心非佛!」梅云:「這老漢惑亂人無有了J27nB198_p0507a07時,任他非心非佛,我秪管即心是佛。」僧回,舉似大師,J27nB198_p0507a08大師云:「梅子熟矣!」如今若有箇不受惑底漢子,秪把J27nB198_p0507a09這句即心是佛一味參去,管甚麼廿五聖旋根返元J27nB198_p0507a10證聖得果?管甚麼瞿曇拈花、達磨面壁?任他五家宗J27nB198_p0507a11師有等玄言妙句、棒喝槌拂,盡是弄猢孫家具、祭鬼J27nB198_p0507a12神茶飯。何故?實際理地著不得箇元字腳,秪這一句J27nB198_p0507a13即心是佛,早是遭他老鼠藥了,何況餘事耶?所以趙J27nB198_p0507a14州云:「佛之一字,吾不喜聞。」佛且不喜,則伊沒閒工夫J27nB198_p0507a15向他家門庭東覷西睹可知也。若實不曾到得這田J27nB198_p0507a16地,不可便一切撥置,須知他人不是謼神嚇鬼,秪如J27nB198_p0507a17臨濟一喝如金剛王寶劍;一喝如踞地師子;一喝如J27nB198_p0507a18探竿影草;有時一喝不作一喝用;會得時一喝中便J27nB198_p0507a19具四喝。若在這一喝上徹見得去,說甚麼宗與教、離J27nB198_p0507a20與合、是與非,直得不疑生、不疑死、不疑先聖後聖、不J27nB198_p0507a21疑生滅寂滅,釋迦老子便是素王、素王便是釋迦老J27nB198_p0507a22子,旁流異派總是一源、千門萬戶都是一喝。秪是不J27nB198_p0507a23得作一喝會,若作一喝會,入地獄如箭射;若不作一J27nB198_p0507a24喝會,入地獄如箭射。這裏大須審細始得。至如諸家J27nB198_p0507a25拈棒、擎叉、挽弓、豎帚,雖拈弄不同,要皆同一機用也。J27nB198_p0507a26來問云:「寂滅現前,正覺正定中何故忽生此相?豈有J27nB198_p0507a27大人儀則,將非賣弄家風而於正宗無當耶?」如上所J27nB198_p0507a28難,問者蓋不明他機用之妙,故有此疑。昔世尊因乾J27nB198_p0507a29闥婆王獻樂,於時山河大地皆作琴聲,迦葉起舞,王J27nB198_p0507a30問:「迦葉豈不是漏盡羅漢,何更有餘習耶?」佛曰:「實無J27nB198_p0507b01餘習,莫謗法也。」王復撫琴三度,迦葉起舞如前,王曰:J27nB198_p0507b02「迦葉作舞,豈不是?」佛曰:「實不作舞。」王曰:「世尊何得妄J27nB198_p0507b03語?」佛曰:「不妄語。汝撫琴,山河大地皆作琴聲,豈不是?」J27nB198_p0507b04王曰:「是!」佛曰:「迦葉亦然,所以實不曾作舞。」王乃信受。J27nB198_p0507b05此箇公案,恰當居士疑他正定寂滅中有此相,便疑J27nB198_p0507b06迦葉作舞一般。若非此可為證,則與居士終辯不及,J27nB198_p0507b07因不明這一喝妙處,所以疑情不解,何得不疑?諸師J27nB198_p0507b08零言碎語棒喝等情這裏錯過,不知日用中錯過許J27nB198_p0507b09多好事。若他棒喝不是,你拈匙把箸做甚麼也不是。J27nB198_p0507b10所以不肯直下承當,便謂日用中都是塵勞分上事,J27nB198_p0507b11便要去做背塵合覺工夫。有塵可背、有覺可合,便分J27nB198_p0507b12塵是外境、覺是內心,不能打成一片。取捨心在,生滅J27nB198_p0507b13宛然,可謂認賊為子,與道全乖矣!山僧為此不惜口J27nB198_p0507b14業與居士通一線道:「不要走他家去,如油入麵。縱饒J27nB198_p0507b15三二十年苦工,秪到得一半,如來禪許會得,祖師禪J27nB198_p0507b16未敢保在。」莫見恁麼道,又疑他五燈未然之前皆失J27nB198_p0507b17諦也,而宗出末世、量過群聖。如今且莫管他過與不J27nB198_p0507b18過,秪把箇萬法歸一提撕將去,行住坐臥、動靜語默J27nB198_p0507b19總休暫捨,驀然撞破額樓大叫一聲,方好道著賊了J27nB198_p0507b20也。那時誾上座也藏羞無地。何故?不合為公透引。雖J27nB198_p0507b21然如是,還我箇元字腳來再向汝道。
復鄭汝交使君
J27nB198_p0507b23二千餘里入閩,正欲尋一箇皮下有血底漢子,趁其J27nB198_p0507b24性燥好與一足踏殺。居士既肯拼卻性命,要來急索J27nB198_p0507b25此事,正須上山商確,何故在屋裏販楊州耶?昔張子J27nB198_p0507b26韶見妙喜便屏息家累,閉不動軒,矢志發明。居士是J27nB198_p0507b27大有才智人,近又為此念頓切,應好猛利一氣做上,J27nB198_p0507b28更莫轉腦回頭,但秪看我主人翁面目落在何處,決J27nB198_p0507b29要討箇分曉,雖應酬事事,莫作夾帶想亦莫作撇下J27nB198_p0507b30想、莫作煩惱想亦莫作解脫想,貴在念念不放過、處J27nB198_p0507c01處著眼覷,如此緊追密究到箇針劄不入處,忽然捉J27nB198_p0507c02敗這枚賊,則曠劫無明當下摧破,便是大得手也。待J27nB198_p0507c03有如此光景,可打鼓相賀。

J27nB198_p0507c18昨得叨陪麈論,乃知大智慧人不昧夙因,外境諸緣J27nB198_p0507c19超然莫繫,而一片真實心,必欲洞明己躬下事為急,J27nB198_p0507c20且曰:「參禪此著,如救頭然。」果激發如此,則可立地覯J27nB198_p0507c21取,使曠大劫來不失之物頓獲現前無難矣!蓋過量J27nB198_p0507c22人,妙能撲破虛空、吞吐華藏,得三昧王三昧,無纖毫J27nB198_p0507c23空缺處、無一點滲漏處,自然事鏡出非、理鑒忘是,將J27nB198_p0507c24佛法塵緣打成一片,為世出世間一大解脫觀自在J27nB198_p0507c25豈不大快乎?王荊公嘗自謂:「我得百丈『是甚麼?』一句J27nB198_p0507c26做宰相。」然則宗門語句,其開豁人意,迥越常情,如披J27nB198_p0507c27雲見日、如點鐵成金,所望居士得此末後句,他日補J27nB198_p0507c28袞受用,豈不法門藉有重光乎?邂逅之緣似非偶爾,J27nB198_p0507c29或般若因中曾有同參之約,第吾輩接機氣力尚弱,J27nB198_p0507c30惟大居士高踞願乘汲引同類,則片語醒人力重千J27nB198_p0508a01鈞,豈自了漢可窺其作略哉?

J27nB198_p0508a03六祖云:「欲識真不動,動上有不動。」此語足與持衡經J27nB198_p0508a04世者作箇金剛幢王。居士履踐親切,雖有節旄柄文J27nB198_p0508a05之冗,正好於煩劇中薦取不動之旨,撒手懸崖分身J27nB198_p0508a06萬象,終日應酬不見有應酬之事,是名大了事人,又J27nB198_p0508a07豈粘情帶識之流可企及其片晌受用哉?

J27nB198_p0508a14龐公問馬師:「不與萬法為侶是甚麼人?」師云:「待汝一J27nB198_p0508a15口汲盡西江水即向汝道。」公於言下大悟。此老費盡J27nB198_p0508a16一生氣力,到這裏卸角馱、收籠頭,較馬師道:「自從胡J27nB198_p0508a17亂後,三十年不曾少鹽醬。」卻又別是一段風光。一人J27nB198_p0508a18破家蕩產、一人立業興家,兩箇共鼻竅出氣,不識居J27nB198_p0508a19士於此古錐舌頭,還一齊截斷否耶?想日親簿書,翻J27nB198_p0508a20著自家公案,放渠熱棒,不啻徑山竹篦決牘如流,總J27nB198_p0508a21是大用現前。葛洪有言:「若不是腳跟線斷也難得箇J27nB198_p0508a22自繇。」敢問居士還是自繇耶?繇人耶?簡點得出,好箇J27nB198_p0508a23不少分相應。
與仁和邑侯宋喜公
J27nB198_p0508a25城北破院前,得台車枉顧,群公在座,裾舄駢臨,不及J27nB198_p0508a26與居士瀾翻舌本極譚妙旨,雖上上根人不待揚眉J27nB198_p0508a27鼓舌已自知音,然格外相逢,非世間尋常機會,似不J27nB198_p0508a28可當面蹉過,倘不鄙野鹿行蹤,相期於郊坰之外,得J27nB198_p0508a29罄半日清譚,誰謂公事與佛事相擔閣耶?昔人道:「十J27nB198_p0508a30年磨一劍,霜刃未曾試;今日把似君,誰有不平事?」借J27nB198_p0508b01彼證此,可作一偈,為公盡情道破也。
與聞子將孝廉
J27nB198_p0508b03春來為脾家受虧,至今猶未疆飯,思得一晤,以旅泊J27nB198_p0508b04風光時時領珠唾蘭芬不落枯寂,何快如之?月潭禪J27nB198_p0508b05友至,詢知起居違和,不勝同病相憐之意。洞山老人J27nB198_p0508b06看病,不見有病,此固得安閒法耳!老子云:「吾有大患,J27nB198_p0508b07為吾有身。」此即外其身而身存。古人內脫身心、外遺J27nB198_p0508b08世累,則身雖病,攢簇他不得、黏綴他不得,八苦交煎J27nB198_p0508b09總不妨公,示同淨名說法,此等身心患業已皎然澄J27nB198_p0508b10瑩,即抱痾亦游戲乎!因布候不覺甚贅!
復吳心石鹺使
J27nB198_p0508b12大居士天真不擾、性地虛明,肯於向上一路如推車J27nB198_p0508b13相似,忽然撞著石壁尋箇入頭,自然出息不涉眾緣、J27nB198_p0508b14入息不居陰界,常光體露,滾似盤珠。果得如此受用,J27nB198_p0508b15則世間境情,何樂可喻乎?
與徐獨往兵曹
J27nB198_p0508b17喫人殘唾是近來學人無化腐氣質,若單愛自家杜J27nB198_p0508b18撰,亦是聰明好辯所受病處。石頭老祖云:「乘言須會J27nB198_p0508b19宗,勿自立規矩。」此千古明眼證據。今師家無此法,故J27nB198_p0508b20衡物失準、第灸必著。穴斧不留痕,方為了手人,善能J27nB198_p0508b21高鑒,若恣性奇談,不以平心較論,恐螳螂捕蟬,莫知J27nB198_p0508b22黃雀在後。古人簡點抑揚,都與人做箇手眼,所以賞J27nB198_p0508b23罰分明,不似今人一棒打殺都無救活手段,妙在殺J27nB198_p0508b24得人,活得人,臨機應變與奪隨宜,公於此覷透則如J27nB198_p0508b25所駁者,政所謂:「劍為不平離寶匣,藥因救病出金瓶。」
復西水超座元
J27nB198_p0508b27虎跑一期纔散,又住一破院,想公曹溪閒光景卻無J27nB198_p0508b28此等繁難,便西水堂聞風規頗整,眾心信嚮大有可J27nB198_p0508b29觀,老居士亦欣然助喜,不媿博山家聲。所以舉公者,J27nB198_p0508b30本分為人,謙卑自牧,善誘後來,大都道香價重,自然J27nB198_p0508c01出一頭地。百凡望加珍重,不令人覷破底囊,此大受J27nB198_p0508c02用也。
與薛緱山兵憲
J27nB198_p0508c04斂剎土於毫端、截眾流於一句,此是入門捷徑。若不J27nB198_p0508c05如此則識心紛飛,縱然門外覓車、路途打遶,其奈到J27nB198_p0508c06家轉遠何?昨承大居士積誠問道,故不敢更作葛藤J27nB198_p0508c07語,恐負來機,但請急地看箇萬法歸一,一歸何處?工J27nB198_p0508c08夫綿密如絃路直,忽然磕著額樓,不妨道箇相隨來J27nB198_p0508c09也。此時快活不徹,亦須把得住;不然,流入歡喜魔自J27nB198_p0508c10亦不覺,先要照破始得。涼色漸多,軒帷還可晤譚,并J27nB198_p0508c11問約之何日?
