J27nB198_p0509a06博山缽袋子久付堂頭,今虎林大眾跂望法雨,正J27nB198_p0509a07恐一腳踏破洞水逆流耳!無齒大蟲攔街打坐,應J27nB198_p0509a08有不惜身命漢子奪卻項下金鈴也。萬象渴仰,惟J27nB198_p0509a09飛錫蚤臨,莫道我無佛法與人便閉門打睡也。菲J27nB198_p0509a10儀修候,併▆錄存。
J27nB198_p0509a11三家村裏唱幾句蠻歌野曲,若推向十字街頭,便露J27nB198_p0509a12出杜撰手腳。此行為雲棲掃塔實副本懷,他則非杖J27nB198_p0509a13笠所之。舟次捧翰教,知大居士一片婆心,原欲接壽J27nB198_p0509a14昌此脈,洞水逆流,第年來贏病愈侵應酬不及,虎林J27nB198_p0509a15高衲如雲明公盛集向上機籌,大有人東提西唱,似J27nB198_p0509a16不必駢拇漢更出標指也。幸為曲施權巧,轉語善辭,J27nB198_p0509a17或圖共酌名泉,借軒帷入山,罄數日之譚。此為鄙望,J27nB198_p0509a18餘容面對。光風極領,欬唾他不贅。
答瓶匋聞大師附來書
J27nB198_p0509a20去夏辱慈愛慇懃,俾印折福不少,歸即一病瀕死,J27nB198_p0509a21迄今猶未全愈,然每從往來衲子得吾師法席隆J27nB198_p0509a22盛,化道洋溢之信,殊慰病懷。啟者祖庭秋晚、魔外J27nB198_p0509a23侵疆,諒非祖令高提聲光藉甚者,不能鎮挽也。茲J27nB198_p0509a24幸元公公祖集生先生,洎武林薦紳長者居士,一J27nB198_p0509a25時雲龍風虎,仰重吾師,欲屈慈雲東覆布濩群生,J27nB198_p0509a26謹擇江干大慈山虎跑寺,乃寰中老祖開山,曾感J27nB198_p0509a27猛虎輸泉、趙州執帚,遂令說丈行尺之話遍天下,J27nB198_p0509a28顧此道場非博山冢嫡,又安能繼席哉?切願玉殿J27nB198_p0509a29開封、金針密度,令浙西夜半正明,簾外轉身一步,J27nB198_p0509a30何幸如之?臨楮曷勝西矚?
J27nB198_p0509b01去夏得扳慈錫光照一丘,至今松杉之上猶掛法雲,J27nB198_p0509b02瀕行曾告以雲栖掃塔之情,緣兩山眾務繁瑣,遂爾J27nB198_p0509b03愆期。今開歲出門,舟次瀫水,忽辱來翰,展讀如金光J27nB198_p0509b04遠矚,輝我眉端。第此行辦香展敬,不昧為飲水知源,J27nB198_p0509b05亦惟繞匝繩床面聆謦欬,其他則非本懷也。促筆不J27nB198_p0509b06莊。
答西溪古德法師附來書
J27nB198_p0509b08不晤道顏久矣!每有人自博山來,必詢定動,知宗J27nB198_p0509b09風大震不減當年,清約肅然、光逾舊制,江西再見J27nB198_p0509b10一馬駒矣!喜踊喜踊!此方宰官居士久渴醍醐,今J27nB198_p0509b11耑人敦請,想吾兄大慈,寧不悲憫而普其法化耶?J27nB198_p0509b12如慧光垂照,豈止草澤增輝,謦欬之間將見祖燈J27nB198_p0509b13轉熾矣!
J27nB198_p0509b14連年唱掃塔之行,無那兩山牽絆,今開歲徑來將度J27nB198_p0509b15瀫水,忽接尊翰,如玉毫一道飛照孤蓬,欣慰何已?第J27nB198_p0509b16此行瓣香,原為五雲拈出,惟有策杖西溪,飫聞法教,J27nB198_p0509b17一腔傾渴之誠,此外卻不敢聞命也。趨教有日,布謝J27nB198_p0509b18無言。
復李西有太宰
J27nB198_p0509b20客秋,慈遍禪人歸,接翰貺,愧喜交集。大居士端居大J27nB198_p0509b21光明藏,想日用事善自偶諧,自不違時失候,其他多J27nB198_p0509b22三昧,雖差別各殊。昔人謂:「得用隨宜即便休。」若更不J27nB198_p0509b23斷絲頭,終被人哄入行舖搬骨董不了。明公原曉事J27nB198_p0509b24人,野衲何敢寱語?
復錢坤誠居士
J27nB198_p0509b26讀社告信,居士荷鷲峰之囑累、樹毘耶之燈幢,開六J27nB198_p0509b27堂轉大法輪,先戒如築墠,弘教如庀材,祖燈如堂皇,J27nB198_p0509b28衛生如漿脯,懺摩如浣濯,淨業如床蓐。譬善治生者,J27nB198_p0509b29缺一事則用不彀,駢眾美而屋乃潤,此雜花之所圓J27nB198_p0509b30演、永明之所統歸。居士從源疏派、接樹遮陰則是搆J27nB198_p0509c01深得雲栖家法,然須擇行解兼傋始能典其事,以執J27nB198_p0509c02耳之人非止匡輔大教,亦乃裨贊王化,恐時師僻習,J27nB198_p0509c03焉足以振閎大之舉?然雖如是,設有箇一不立六不J27nB198_p0509c04收底來問居士入社,未審安置他在那箇堂好?想眼J27nB198_p0509c05具緇素、勘辨龍蛇,一點瞞公不得,但不知誰是其人?J27nB198_p0509c06幸有以報我。
復沈彥威中丞
J27nB198_p0509c08虎跑一度將謂台從復枉,生柴怕猛火也,要大家逼J27nB198_p0509c09手如擊布鼓相似,先須緊鞔密釘而後響踰重垣。居J27nB198_p0509c10士若道我性急作麼?則雪關呵呵大笑,放下雙槌更J27nB198_p0509c11不重撾也,公又如何酬機發問?

J27nB198_p0509c13雲棲先師翁,道全德傋、千聖同行,薄劣之姿安足揄J27nB198_p0509c14美?蒙大居士見委,當竭愚力以副授簡盛心。第腳下J27nB198_p0509c15兒孫無自撰塔銘之理,若改一題目補篇行狀亦可,J27nB198_p0509c16如台諭自當添入印法弟子,為蓮宗拔幟嘉選耳!

J27nB198_p0509c18台車一顧,清談半日,雖華嚴之機緣鄭公頓契、黃檗J27nB198_p0509c19之旨趣裴相知歸,較大居士此晷風光,似亦不減。功J27nB198_p0509c20名富貴是順緣,公也盡嘗滋味;憂畏患難是逆境,公J27nB198_p0509c21也無不經歷。此際肯一齊看破、頓然放下,提起這著J27nB198_p0509c22做去,譬剝芭蕉,心自露矣!況是品地完全、真醇合道,J27nB198_p0509c23果體究緊切,無斯須放空處。昨云:「將謂遠,原來近,卻J27nB198_p0509c24被道著。」然可作悟讖,猛著精彩。佇聽捷音,冗筆不莊。
與徐太玉太史
J27nB198_p0509c26五雲枉顧,又得一宿深譚,較鼓山更有風光,別後想J27nB198_p0509c27正眼頓開、惑路辨清,其工夫可直捷而入,知不靠倒J27nB198_p0509c28壁觀老子不休也。在虎跑,日與衲子切磋陶汰,如颶J27nB198_p0509c29母風消,鯨波勢息,惟有下萬丈深潭探取驪頷,似難J27nB198_p0509c30其人耳!且別選一室顏曰「炊香閣」,更與居士中有血J27nB198_p0510a01性者痛加鉗鎚,覺近日許多口頭禪一齊捉敗,後來J27nB198_p0510a02緇白如雲,使宗門不亂,旗鼓標幟有在世,亦佛法之J27nB198_p0510a03幸,獨不能時與大居士握塵憑陵論向上事為快意,J27nB198_p0510a04然亦打鼓相賀等候多時,公當猛省一決也。
與岳衡山杭州郡牧
J27nB198_p0510a06到武林即遊春風化日中,況虎跑得借榻安禪,無非J27nB198_p0510a07呵護之力,然法喜唱酬,其一腔屬望之情,還須上上J27nB198_p0510a08根人當機領荷。想大居士以公庭為道場,躬勤惠政,J27nB198_p0510a09德感人天,肯參此末後句,如壯夫伸臂,似不難其力J27nB198_p0510a10耳!
與許雲賓寧波郡牧
J27nB198_p0510a12大居士能於朱紱場中作善知識,寬平為政,便是福J27nB198_p0510a13星清耿,但願就路還鄉,二六時中緊把繩頭,看箇主J27nB198_p0510a14人公落處,忽然雲開日出雨過山青,便好撫掌大笑,J27nB198_p0510a15趙悅道聞雷,真箇撞染耳!
復董治聲文學
J27nB198_p0510a17文章如做繭,脫此軟殼須有異人,不然裹卻一生,秪J27nB198_p0510a18成學問邊事。居士偉哲非常,能儒佛兩辦,則出人頭J27nB198_p0510a19地遠矣!昨對塵次,偶及不肯,非斷斷要人如此,以輓J27nB198_p0510a20近師資弄成套索,學者多愛人肯、怕人不肯,即師家J27nB198_p0510a21亦喜人順、不喜人觸,審如此,則擇法眼了無足憑。若J27nB198_p0510a22真是箇銕漢子,他自知分曉,肯與不肯是兩頭話,坐J27nB198_p0510a23斷雙關別尋活路,直得千機頓發一事無干,若到此J27nB198_p0510a24箇地位,決不比山蠻社拗,任天下老宿肯亦得、不肯J27nB198_p0510a25亦得、肯不肯亦得。果能裂破老僧圈繢,跳出亦好、不J27nB198_p0510a26跳出亦好、跳出不跳出亦好,不必問人,秪消自家斷J27nB198_p0510a27案可也。
與方肅之太史
J27nB198_p0510a29聞大居士近家秣陵,野衲亦駐錫虎林,衣帶不遙,每J27nB198_p0510a30思玄度,雖閒情相憶,不難乘興剡溪,然向上人自有J27nB198_p0510b01向上機,寒暄事似不煩于屑屑。曩先師以館閣相期,J27nB198_p0510b02政謂今日可膺靈山付囑之任。然付囑者,必知法而J27nB198_p0510b03後能護法,不然徒護外而忘內;以內外兼護,惟大居J27nB198_p0510b04士實能之。竊謂先師所期望者必其人,而語亦中其J27nB198_p0510b05期,是知期以佛法,乃望公鈞衡其地能行佛事,即佛J27nB198_p0510b06事亦須知向上事為極則,然後擇具正法眼之人,而J27nB198_p0510b07橫身為護,使轉此正法輪,斯為真護法矣!況居士根J27nB198_p0510b08品殊勝智發無師,其蹴踏超象拔龍,非跛鱉盲鰍可J27nB198_p0510b09及。第今日禪風弊陋,缶亂鐘聲,公如鯨吼,在虡不揣J27nB198_p0510b10妄擬蒲牢奮力一扣,若曰:「非我賞音,終自閟其洪響。」J27nB198_p0510b11則野衲誠為狂悖,敢不領嘿擯之戒?呵呵!
與譚梁生水部
J27nB198_p0510b13坐石頭菴問偶然長老:「金湯中有幾人知箇事?」彼謂:J27nB198_p0510b14「譚梁生居士甚有血性,不讓屠刀漢子。」私衷輒為嚮J27nB198_p0510b15往。前始入院,承顧次不及暢談,以一憊而迎眾劇秪J27nB198_p0510b16得放過,居士亦何故置為閒著不急敲枰,無乃冷眼J27nB198_p0510b17覷破非敵國手者耶?洪鐘閟響不藉扣擊,何以發乎J27nB198_p0510b18希聲?竊意公亦不避錐劄向上機籌,原俟特達人,倘J27nB198_p0510b19許再來,何等延跂?
與劉胤平太史
J27nB198_p0510b21現身簪紱,濯跡風塵,公也夙與般若緣,不為不深矣!J27nB198_p0510b22雖借名場經過,猶神魚跳網、彩鳳沖霄,似不待諸天J27nB198_p0510b23揚鼓聲,而後為警覺之耳!大都浮華駛景,換人眼珠,J27nB198_p0510b24急水灘頭進一篙退十篙,如此學道便不得力。公久J27nB198_p0510b25遊先師之門,接博山之響,當勇樹光幢作一了事烈J27nB198_p0510b26漢,就同事妙權為金紫先導,此為同門扳拊之望。舍J27nB198_p0510b27此不譚,徒勤筆札,非道愛真切者之交,想公亦不甘J27nB198_p0510b28厚幣添絕倒耳!向承許為先師作塔銘,不知如椽曾J27nB198_p0510b29脫稿否?焚香專俟,何如?
復錢機山相國
J27nB198_p0510c01正懷仰間,忽翰教下及,且云:「此中蹙然,如有所動。」此J27nB198_p0510c02便是靈機發樞、神光透露,若盡情打動,將無始窠臼J27nB198_p0510c03徹底掀翻,然後風清海晏寂然不動,則向上路譬輕J27nB198_p0510c04車駕熟原是舊家茶飯,此箇大安樂自在法門,公已J27nB198_p0510c05現成受用之矣!第在入路稍艱,不敢不為先道破。
答詹中五文學
J27nB198_p0510c07禪淨何岐?人心自別,但請一門深入徹旨後,則融合J27nB198_p0510c08兩字亦多矣!居士既皆請益,互相參扣,知識原無二J27nB198_p0510c09心、口光殊有多色,其垂手或稍差異,到家時一齊併J27nB198_p0510c10卻。若存些子人法不忘,是腳跟紅線未斷,被人牽掣J27nB198_p0510c11不能自繇自在耳!居士豈甘如是哉?
與唐祈遠孝廉
J27nB198_p0510c13承枉駕湖寺,得芝眉一見,道風藹人,何等欣快?世稱J27nB198_p0510c14外護不少,能知法而護法始為真護,否則一檀越主J27nB198_p0510c15徒飽齋嚫而已。居士於檀護雙絕,故臨行三問,對眾J27nB198_p0510c16拈出,使餐維摩香飯底也須防噎,可惜其間覓箇喫J27nB198_p0510c17得銷得底人,為居士謝齋恰是難得。第或眾中有奢J27nB198_p0510c18望者,尚須飽喫一頓,故未即還飯錢,不知公施心有J27nB198_p0510c19厭耶?還是野衲子希望無厭耶?惟居士更下一轉語。
與黃海岸居士
J27nB198_p0510c21榷關蠲賦使者護送,俾妙行木料速如神運,大士威J27nB198_p0510c22靈赴感如此,且見同事攝化之妙,其仰庇則誠無量,J27nB198_p0510c23若稱謝即涉於施受,恐居士亦絕倒矣!昔須達布金、J27nB198_p0510c24祗陀捨樹共成功德,不知才經營時,兜率天宮莊嚴J27nB198_p0510c25先就。然則妙行未成,公之住處逸多老子先為敷座,J27nB198_p0510c26但不識他日居第二座說何法耳?

J27nB198_p0510c28壽昌師翁道得底人,你打我一棒、我罵你一頓,彼此J27nB198_p0510c29歡喜無愛憎相。前為居士用些椒薑辣手,且與師翁J27nB198_p0510c30出氣,以壽昌真子非公而誰?雖是遍參,如燈版各有J27nB198_p0511a01承嗣都不濫收。昔人謂:「寒山忘卻來時路,拾得相將J27nB198_p0511a02攜手歸。」前見回余集老書,便知居士心事明白,不昧J27nB198_p0511a03來源,此外原為惡謔惱亂春風。知量過太虛,深加慶J27nB198_p0511a04快。即從前許多觸忤,無非為此一著,今日可請荊矣!J27nB198_p0511a05一笑。
與錢元沖大理
J27nB198_p0511a07大居士近日出世心深為此著,如逼石牛生牸,母雞J27nB198_p0511a08抱卵,既有此辦道烈性,草鞋跟峭且緊,何患乎不到J27nB198_p0511a09家也?富鄭公之候華嚴、孫漢老之扣曇晦,皆從言下J27nB198_p0511a10頓豁所疑,倘軒帷過我,作數日清譚,將箇事罄底商J27nB198_p0511a11量,推窗見月、就火點燈,似不可少人撥。公特達丈夫J27nB198_p0511a12也,一瞥地肯與二公作後塵哉!
與錢瑞星太史
J27nB198_p0511a14參學人喚安身立命處權名家舍,正謂其能內脫身J27nB198_p0511a15心、外遺世界,毫髮不蹲窠臼,大段以清風為舍、明月J27nB198_p0511a16為家,凡寢興飲喙、應煩酬劇常在其中,一涉動定便J27nB198_p0511a17落途次風光、於斯能步步回頭、刻刻還鄉,是之謂雖J27nB198_p0511a18涉程途不離家舍者以此也。楊次公云:「無一可戀、無J27nB198_p0511a19一可舍,太虛之中,之乎者也。」審如是,山僧掉老婆舌J27nB198_p0511a20頭,強分家舍,浪說途中,無乃之乎者也,遮蓋虛空而J27nB198_p0511a21已。來劄云:「卻又在家舍上生出許多俗情事,奔馳不J27nB198_p0511a22了。」是則家舍愈真,法身愈遠。前不言乎:「嘗因送客處,J27nB198_p0511a23記得別家時。」正以送客為泛酬、憶家為本領,不可奔J27nB198_p0511a24馳時便忘卻這裏亦斯須不可離之意。大居士不受J27nB198_p0511a25人瞞、不坐暗地、不說未會便是會,此真具打翻徹底J27nB198_p0511a26手段,大光明藏從此昭揭。或時命駕相過,極譚向上,J27nB198_p0511a27單刀直入,更讓誰先?
J27nB198_p0511a28又
J27nB198_p0511a29大居士有趙清獻之風、富鄭公之品,顧下劣雖無蔣J27nB198_p0511a30山、華嚴手眼,然一腔仰望之心不敢自嘿,每承高軒J27nB198_p0511b01過我,必以此懇到擊發。昔人謂:「但辦肯心,決不相賺。」J27nB198_p0511b02所患難入門者,在貴鄉道交多一面說禪、一邊主淨,J27nB198_p0511b03依違相效返誤工夫。佛不云乎「制之一處無事不辦」,J27nB198_p0511b04萬望大居士超然格外不泥兼程,二六時中但一力J27nB198_p0511b05如箭射的,無有不中之理,即有多方便語句,譬舟子J27nB198_p0511b06善把篙,不嫌港曲也。果再打併一念唱還鄉調,定在J27nB198_p0511b07祖佛頂𩕳上行,誰敢隻眼覷公哉?
與葉慶繩侍御
J27nB198_p0511b09喻彌陀齋四百萬眾,或我輩亦當年從瓢笠中作破J27nB198_p0511b10落僧欠渠飯債,故今與補還,一為薄福住持、一為熱J27nB198_p0511b11忙化主、一為供眾檀越,此三者皆博山腳下兒孫,無J27nB198_p0511b12端俱打入社火,其間不無有因地種子,公能原及三J27nB198_p0511b13世乎?竊自憶喻公時常攜一木杓化緣,蘇長公有頌,J27nB198_p0511b14子旌美之,然此杓即山僧前身也。又嘗為一墜腰石J27nB198_p0511b15久壓祖背,今此石亦山僧前身。或疑二物皆屬無情,J27nB198_p0511b16何繇而化為老衲,且受得人天禮拜,將無怪事驚人J27nB198_p0511b17耶?然鄙語雖似諧謔,據得底人真箇是木杓談天、石J27nB198_p0511b18塊說法,惜大地人不曉,將謂老僧非木石、木石非老J27nB198_p0511b19僧,不見古德道「情與無情同一體」,此語亦可確證也。J27nB198_p0511b20居士能徹見斯旨,便可將十世古今融為剎那一念、J27nB198_p0511b21無邊剎境收為自己家園,得好同伴,山僧亦甘作勞J27nB198_p0511b22侶一聽主揮,但望公多與雪長老雇工錢可也,更願J27nB198_p0511b23勇加參研,此為神交真切之愛。承惠齋僧,每月逢五J27nB198_p0511b24即設供行,嚫以嚴百福之資,俟完日當有報命耳!

J27nB198_p0511b26大福慧人,現菩薩身、說宰官法,慈威並用而不偏、寬J27nB198_p0511b27嚴得中而有則。此大士折攝二權,摳要位中佛事者J27nB198_p0511b28也。若乃究心之法一簡綜煩,但能不忘本參,自然隨J27nB198_p0511b29處話頭現前,收放都在繩頭矣!
與余集生居士
J27nB198_p0511c01拄杖頭撥著一箇半箇否?閩中山水可以逸老否?法J27nB198_p0511c02兄行道為人,亦須觀其時緣,無心應物,隨順世場,睹J27nB198_p0511c03惡不嫌,善不勤措,此老臊胡善抽身處,法兄得此便J27nB198_p0511c04宜已久,何俟饒舌?昔人謂:「寒山忘卻來時路,拾得相J27nB198_p0511c05將攜手歸。」此可助拍掌耳!今羅峰來,寄此布候,其妙J27nB198_p0511c06行光明臺來,舌廣長可以道盡,道不盡底句法兄可J27nB198_p0511c07勘過,打亦好不打亦好。
復鄭潛菴兵憲
J27nB198_p0511c09錢太史歸,接手教并佳刻讀之,頓見華嚴地位中人,J27nB198_p0511c10不特於佛法信入圓位,至於治世安民,能為全城保J27nB198_p0511c11障,碩畫奇算、曲盡機宜,真是救焚拯溺好手。現菩薩J27nB198_p0511c12宰官身不可多覯也,況以本地風光參研極則?故垂J27nB198_p0511c13問處貴尋主人翁下落,不肯放過此,又何等喫緊著J27nB198_p0511c14鞭?如所謂斬外寇必先斬內賊,誠為高見。第此事如J27nB198_p0511c15握金剛利劍,要殺得天下人,須殺卻自己;殺得自己,J27nB198_p0511c16纔能殺卻天下人。若是情根欲境猶易掃開,理路解J27nB198_p0511c17會倒絆腳跟,大段要從己躬下窮其褫剝工夫方堪J27nB198_p0511c18入作,不然毫髮滲漏過於蠱毒。昔人言:「過此鄉,水也J27nB198_p0511c19不得沾他一滴。」政謂情見兩途俱要拈卻,然後撥轉J27nB198_p0511c20向上關捩,千自繇百自在,雖有習氣業識紛飛,到此J27nB198_p0511c21際如野燒回青、紅爐點雪,不妨道箇有意氣時添意J27nB198_p0511c22氣,不風流處更風流。
與董寅谷兵憲
J27nB198_p0511c24大居士從天人中來,福慧兩足,先於功名富貴中嘗J27nB198_p0511c25盡滋味,則胸次可以入道,如珍寶滿船遇風便到岸J27nB198_p0511c26矣!不知二六時中工夫綿密何如?古人道:「直須高高J27nB198_p0511c27山頂立,深深海底行,閨閣中物捨不得,便成滲漏。」公J27nB198_p0511c28於此語句還得相應否?宜加努力,立地搆去。大智慧J27nB198_p0511c29人何俟饒舌?因風布候,亦見巖壑人一腔熱腸,不負J27nB198_p0511c30道盟也。
復董爾基文學
J27nB198_p0512a02春上得接紫芝眉宇,欣暢何可言?別後不識公於此J27nB198_p0512a03事還著忙理會否?若視為不急之務,則此外又何急J27nB198_p0512a04乎?大都與衲僧相見,如債主臨門須酬卻所負,即無J27nB198_p0512a05逼惱之患,不然問一句子如何是本來面目?若答得J27nB198_p0512a06恰好,即如填卻債也;若還答不得,也須計較開交,不J27nB198_p0512a07然,莫怪老僧不容情逼人太甚。

J27nB198_p0512a09讀《雪峰志宛》,露出真覺目面,其恢復盛心數表見於J27nB198_p0512a10來劄。吾輩既作如來使,則處處祖庭皆可塗肝抹膽,J27nB198_p0512a11況雪峰乃閩天第一道場?一興廢間,皆於佛法關氣J27nB198_p0512a12運怡。山云:「但有利益,莫不修崇。」衲僧家喫此碗茶飯、J27nB198_p0512a13做這家兒孫,坐視居士拮据,不自竭蹶,為之可乎?大J27nB198_p0512a14段世間事,出不得箇緣字,即小可團瓢,苟無緣不易J27nB198_p0512a15彀茆檐一宿,況名山巨剎耶?公但堅誓力圖,自有應J27nB198_p0512a16谷之呼,第自己有座好佛堂,不知古佛放光否?此不J27nB198_p0512a17急急下手,則殿傾廡壞不在彼而在此。《武夷記》才情J27nB198_p0512a18穎邁真射鵰手,承招容遲遲應命何如?
與曹能始大參
J27nB198_p0512a20殷中軍才致淵富,支公見辭而不往,彼時講觀為極J27nB198_p0512a21則,故學解能障悟門,率為詞人所賺。彼少林西來,以J27nB198_p0512a22別傳之道直指心法,故白太傅、蘇眉山、黃魯直、張無J27nB198_p0512a23垢、楊大年諸公便下心參學,知味承風。然則禪不礙J27nB198_p0512a24文,文何礙禪也?但不肯打成一片,自相支離耳!閩固J27nB198_p0512a25佛法淵藪,雪峰、玄沙較支郎神駿,品未低昂,第其生J27nB198_p0512a26啖人心肝、別換人毛骨大可駭畏,使殷中軍見之亦J27nB198_p0512a27當褫魄,復何辭而不往耶?以有礙膺之物,則雖善談J27nB198_p0512a28名理,理不化而成障。昔米胡問仰山:「今時人還假悟J27nB198_p0512a29否?」山云:「悟即不無,爭奈落第二頭何?」趙州云:「佛之一J27nB198_p0512a30字吾不喜聞。」此乃蹴踏毘盧頂上行,古尊宿多這些J27nB198_p0512b01子作略,所以高築降城能拔趙插漢,使古今天下人J27nB198_p0512b02服心者,得此靈符解奪命耳!居士品軼中軍,詞林久J27nB198_p0512b03屬重望,昨承佳召,重振雪峰,第虛懷欲往,不敢以淵J27nB198_p0512b04富致憚,將恐居士返以此著見避,如達磨見梁武不J27nB198_p0512b05無懡㦬。想本地風光,居士此時已洞徹心髓,如伏波J27nB198_p0512b06老將,盤馬據鞍猶勝年少,偏裨百倍大力無畏,何難J27nB198_p0512b07對壘乎?
復蘭谿邑侯吳公良
J27nB198_p0512b09現宰官身與現比丘身,兩雖不同,其親踐實履似不J27nB198_p0512b10可隔一絲毫。忝與居士俱遊博山之門,同氣相求惟J27nB198_p0512b11此一著,先師座下一真實漢子,端有望于居士也。木J27nB198_p0512b12佛天然,恰似渡江影子,但恐丹霞見而惡作,有些救J27nB198_p0512b13他不得。奈何!
J27nB198_p0512b14又
J27nB198_p0512b15此事如賊入空屋,頭頭撞不著,若有些兒屏除不盡,J27nB198_p0512b16即被竊弄矣!昔人謂「賊不打貧家」亦此意。古德云:「十J27nB198_p0512b17二處忘閒影響,三千界放淨光明。」此是得返魂香、換J27nB198_p0512b18骨方,別開隻眼透向上生機活路者也。今初心參究,J27nB198_p0512b19必須打併歸一,心無異緣,久久自成片段耳!居士根J27nB198_p0512b20性明敏,善能辨析,將來入大光明藏,如百川到海、萬J27nB198_p0512b21花坼春,朗月當空、寒潭無影,三昧王在掌握中矣!
與吳接侯孝廉
J27nB198_p0512b23去歲,在博山相見後又在郡城相見,今遊虎林又得J27nB198_p0512b24與居士相見,相見如此,道緣不為淺矣!何那事都忘J27nB198_p0512b25卻耶?雪峰道:「望州亭與汝相見了也;烏石嶺與汝相J27nB198_p0512b26見了也;僧堂前與汝相見了也。」此乃覿面相呈更無J27nB198_p0512b27避諱,向這裏不瞥地,蹉過無位真人,莫怪被老僧推J27nB198_p0512b28作門外漢,返不相識矣!
與龐序皇太守
J27nB198_p0512b30虎林為昔年公憑熊地,一段清高風韻如寫在湖山J27nB198_p0512c01煙光中,恨遊晚不及面承謦欬疊捧、瑤箋嘉貺,緣此J27nB198_p0512c02中領一破院作粥飯主人,出門便如藤牽棘挂。不然J27nB198_p0512c03尋大居士商榷公家舊案,秪如一口吸盡西江水,可J27nB198_p0512c04曾和馬師鹽醬吞卻否?此時殊多清暇,要體究本有J27nB198_p0512c05風光如倒囊出物。昔人謂:「探珠宜靜浪,動水取應難。」J27nB198_p0512c06若是箇徹底漢,又好道:「不入驚人浪,難逢稱意魚。」此J27nB198_p0512c07二語在居士分上,還是探珠時節、得魚光景耶?舍此J27nB198_p0512c08不問,恐居士亦嬾作世諦語閒答耳!因風裁候,并謝J27nB198_p0512c09高情。
與蕭合初居士
J27nB198_p0512c11此事貴在在決了,廉纖未盡遂有不諦當之語,是猶J27nB198_p0512c12被解會所礙,此輩極多。公參究已極,但未盡卻疑情。J27nB198_p0512c13古人道:「盡力推爺向裏頭。」此可舉似作道眼一助,但J27nB198_p0512c14恐出而噦之,誠不足為公餉耳!
與張二水相國
J27nB198_p0512c16浴佛前,二禪人來捧華劄并佳惠,何等慈念?未及裁J27nB198_p0512c17答,以乏便郵耳!石刻起人清貪,既喜法韻鏘然,又愛J27nB198_p0512c18墨妙道婉,金粟如來毫端說法,真令篋笥藏不住放J27nB198_p0512c19光矣!想近日悟門都已忘卻,更不為老居士打葛藤,J27nB198_p0512c20恐美食不中飽人餐也。前所供通,並是詣實。

J27nB198_p0512c22舊冬在懷玉道上,辱停車裁答,具見道念深衷,嘗謂:J27nB198_p0512c23「傾蓋道傍,折節猶龍。」亦尼父遍參之意,雁不遺蹤、水J27nB198_p0512c24無留影,虛懷相照,互證何妨?世尊見人舁豬子也須J27nB198_p0512c25問過,況軒蓋到門而不一問,相見之情可乎?捧報章J27nB198_p0512c26如生身父母之喻,甚善譬也,在居士偶然一交臂則J27nB198_p0512c27可,在他人受法乳之深似不可,例恐損我師資道義J27nB198_p0512c28也。然王臣外護自有付囑芳規,倘可以砥柱法門則J27nB198_p0512c29力為之,金湯又何吝青蓮舌也?茲便鴻致謝,并報區J27nB198_p0512c30區伸問之私,原非劃空作界,亦遙服大居士所論誠J27nB198_p0513a01是也。

J27nB198_p0513a09自大慈解制,轉為破寺主人,杖笠所至一味從緣,然J27nB198_p0513a10則得住把茆、得飲口水屬有定分,若強作去住,未必J27nB198_p0513a11在我不在龍天也。日甚懷念,未得消息,意大居士杜J27nB198_p0513a12門壁觀,迥立千仞,其辦道堅銳,必若破釜焚舟,不決J27nB198_p0513a13勝不休也。然大力量人,即車徒馳逐之間皆可臻悟,J27nB198_p0513a14如所謂輪刀上陣亦得見之,何必冷坐閉目始為辦J27nB198_p0513a15事乎?

J27nB198_p0513a17昔大慧以偈寄張無垢云:「上苑玉池方解凍,門前楊J27nB198_p0513a18柳早垂春;山堂盡日焚香坐,長憶毘耶多口人。」每一J27nB198_p0513a19舉此,宛見古人神交。居士入門最切,對面非遙,恨不J27nB198_p0513a20時時得親玄唾為悵耳!承翰教下,慰如坐春風俟!當J27nB198_p0513a21遣人奉迓,罄此秘譚。

J27nB198_p0513a23閩中行腳遊歷祖庭,此興亦不淺。第參方一事必須J27nB198_p0513a24具眼,不然狐禪遍地卻被熱瞞,草裏有人翻成蹉過。J27nB198_p0513a25如龐老子手腳快,便不犯鋒芒,截得人舌頭斷、栽得J27nB198_p0513a26人命根活,到處咬得人怕。若枘鑿不相入,便被他捉J27nB198_p0513a27住真老賊也。居士能如此拍弄,可謂竿木隨身、逢場J27nB198_p0513a28作戲,快活何可當?
與鞠巖長居士
J27nB198_p0513a30禪客雖多掠虛之病,淨土亦有靠實之過,二法融通J27nB198_p0513b01纔好趨向上一路,可無滯隅擔版也。法丁諍劫,魔幟J27nB198_p0513b02高張,故先大師與聞老宿皆救弊因時,乃有度幾箇J27nB198_p0513b03老實禪人念佛之語。若一向安樁鑿孔、換局更籌,不J27nB198_p0513b04若度幾箇老實念佛人參禪,亦不無其人,大都工夫J27nB198_p0513b05做到家,一任亂翻筋斗,倒拔釘楔,禪也料掉沒交涉、J27nB198_p0513b06淨也料掉沒交涉、和料掉沒交涉、也料掉沒交涉,便J27nB198_p0513b07知得楊侍郎傑無一可取、無一可捨,太虛空中之乎J27nB198_p0513b08者也,將錯就錯西方極樂。公既承兩知識婆舌開導,J27nB198_p0513b09必深有所得,來翰恐是試水探竿,茲不得已聊為葛J27nB198_p0513b10藤一上。若要徹見念佛是誰?除是眼前空俗物、腳底J27nB198_p0513b11露莖毛,自然補碎成片也。
復樊紫蓋兵憲
J27nB198_p0513b13既有包天納地胸襟,一腔悲憫,不見怨憎,此黃面老J27nB198_p0513b14子度生心腸。雖歷劫捨身送命、乞目剜睛,無不應眾J27nB198_p0513b15生之求,故作忍辱仙人五百生,任節節支解略無嗔J27nB198_p0513b16念。大智慧人通身學佛,則觸境不但消融且歡喜順J27nB198_p0513b17受,能轉令發菩提心,此所以度盡眾生無一生而不J27nB198_p0513b18成佛者作用也。前八行已詳為公開譬,茲復再三無J27nB198_p0513b19非要居士如紅爐點雪了無片滓為得也。
與王大涵孝廉
J27nB198_p0513b21令郎來,似為居士作善知識,提金剛王劍截斷愛根,J27nB198_p0513b22此時絕無動念翻哭為笑,纔表學道心腸,勁挺不墮J27nB198_p0513b23情境,如香象擺壞銕鎖而行,公於此時哽咽俱忘、襟J27nB198_p0513b24懷愈暢,足見於無生法忍深得力矣!璚枝結子,自有J27nB198_p0513b25箇翻筋斗再來,且看他來底是那箇?公須深達玄旨,J27nB198_p0513b26便知養子原是父慈。
與岳衡山居士
J27nB198_p0513b28世界顛危,視鳥窠住處雖險,較安白太傅所以扣鳳J27nB198_p0513b29林得旨深矣!識天下事,贏籌不為樂、輸局不足恥,公J27nB198_p0513b30胸次廓然,似不於憂患介其念。第般若正因從此猛J27nB198_p0513c01著精彩,看箇是甚麼,必然撞入門快捷無比。昔人謂:J27nB198_p0513c02「我得百丈一句子,做宰相,受用不盡。」惟大居士努力J27nB198_p0513c03著鞭,此野衲非汎常情謂也。
復嚴琢菴憲副
J27nB198_p0513c05一夕深譚,旦暮千古,曾與大居士激發向上之機,使J27nB198_p0513c06持誦外猛提一句話頭,工夫純熟,雖應酬事務如嬾J27nB198_p0513c07安牧牛,縱渠入草驀鼻牽回,到此田地即兼持誦、忘J27nB198_p0513c08持誦俱可。來翰云:「濁惡世中略種福田,為脫離苦海J27nB198_p0513c09之計,不知有當於福德性否?況每日貪嗔癡不少,齋J27nB198_p0513c10頭翻涉經典褻瀆聖相,恐并此持習反成罪案,不若J27nB198_p0513c11姑己之據,姑己之問。」則知公參究念頭似乎提起提J27nB198_p0513c12不起、持誦功課恰欲放下放不下,欠箇決定,遂成猶J27nB198_p0513c13豫。既欲脫離苦海見福德性,則無如參悟一著,豁開J27nB198_p0513c14本地風光,苦海無非蓮國、貪癡原是戒珠,所受用者J27nB198_p0513c15無窮寶藏,此乃直見福德性矣!何更有持習等過而J27nB198_p0513c16疑成罪案耶?公但信得及肯行路,何愁不到家?
大居士踞菩薩乘、說宰官法,凡在法門皆藉宏護。此J27nB198_p0513c19時有禪期之便,倘得枉我藍輿,光揚法席,何幸如之?J27nB198_p0513c20在明公,道眼融通無所不入,得雲棲之秘密三昧,向J27nB198_p0513c21上機籌又不妨拈出也。
復馬僧摩文學
J27nB198_p0513c23隔年在山中,聞大士踞虎林,高提慧鋒折伏魔喙,一J27nB198_p0513c24時法門知有正眼意。今春走雲棲掃塔,得與公把臂J27nB198_p0513c25深譚,以聲氣相求,即余集生居士亦常對榆美,恨不J27nB198_p0513c26得同聚茆檐共商箇事。長安乃龍象蹴蹋之地,公遊J27nB198_p0513c27其間隨機攝誘,維摩無盡燈從此愈增光焰耳!二祖J27nB198_p0513c28得法後常遊鬧處,人或疑之,祖云:「我自調心,非關汝J27nB198_p0513c29事。」公於此老行履,還曾勘破否耶?今雛禪片地,莫知J27nB198_p0513c30烏之雌雄,皆繇主法不嚴,遂使伊蘭混品、旃檀減價。J27nB198_p0514a01昔人謂:「我眼本正,因師故邪。」所以山蠻亂統、爪印妄J27nB198_p0514a02傳,瞎卻天下人眼,即有識者憤然不平,其亦奈之何J27nB198_p0514a03哉?居士緇素眼明一點難瞞,不知賞音者誰?幸有以J27nB198_p0514a04詔我。
與汪本和戎幕
J27nB198_p0514a06接回翰,辨析分明,灼然有見處,不虛參見作家來也,J27nB198_p0514a07但能決了無疑,毫髮不存解會。玄沙云:「道人行處如J27nB198_p0514a08火銷冰,終不卻成冰。」龐公云:「但自無心於萬物,何妨J27nB198_p0514a09萬物常圍繞?」此即不離事物而證真如。龍牙亦謂:「但J27nB198_p0514a10於事上通無事,見色聞聲不用聾。」此皆腳跟線斷自J27nB198_p0514a11繇自得。以法兄是超脫人,何敢更拈葛藤?亦不過聊J27nB198_p0514a12相證明。三祖云:「歸根得旨,隨照失宗。」然則「寒山忘卻J27nB198_p0514a13來時路,拾得相將攜手歸」,正此意耳!

J27nB198_p0514a15接來問數語,具見本懷,如云:「諷經之外靜坐簡點,覺J27nB198_p0514a16但盡凡情別無聖解,又無始積習還須頓除、抑繇漸J27nB198_p0514a17消?中間前後明知是空,忽有不能空者,何故?若謂離J27nB198_p0514a18去事物,則又落在頑空。」此繇參究多年不得勦截,故J27nB198_p0514a19有明知是空,卻有不能空處。不見龐公云:「但願空諸J27nB198_p0514a20所有,慎勿實諸所無。」又何必論空與不空?如斬釘截J27nB198_p0514a21鐵相似,兩頭坐斷中間放下,到此境界腳跟自然點J27nB198_p0514a22地、鼻孔一任遼天,秪要本來面目無絲毫間隔,自繇J27nB198_p0514a23自在耳!古德道:「一法若有,毘盧墮在凡夫;萬法若無,J27nB198_p0514a24普賢失其境界。」此與龐公空慎一揆。若深徹理性源J27nB198_p0514a25底,則凡情聖解頓除漸消之說,一時冰消瓦解矣!
與陳旻昭居士
J27nB198_p0514a27接手詔,見道誼真切,以法為親不啻骨血,稟先師之J27nB198_p0514a28聲教,惟公深且久。透網金鱗,猶然滯水;回途石馬,始J27nB198_p0514a29出紗籠。公之不決於彼,當決於此,選官未就,選佛又J27nB198_p0514a30何難乎?然世出世事都有時節因緣,水到渠成、果熟J27nB198_p0514b01香飄,似不容自己安排,況傍人又安得從諛之耶?

J27nB198_p0514b03偈跋八首,俱有義味,披玩數過,恍露金剛正眼,空生J27nB198_p0514b04把臂同遊矣!法門此時求先師星中揀月,慚我爝火J27nB198_p0514b05隨漁父之燈時明滅耳!豈不取笑大方乎?魔徒日熾,J27nB198_p0514b06惟事鬥諍,天下英靈好漢,能跳出是非窠臼不知幾J27nB198_p0514b07人,乳上塗毒欲為保母,不知毒殺許多孩子也。言之J27nB198_p0514b08可勝扼腕。
與荊扶宇給諫
J27nB198_p0514b10台車之蒞信州也,與博山有一宿之緣,璇題彩筆照J27nB198_p0514b11映林壑,珠譚玉唾恍露真機,獨不審公之大智慧光J27nB198_p0514b12曾照見本來人否?軒冕場中原是菩提大道,以至人J27nB198_p0514b13出應昌期無非救世。火坑妙吐蓮花;苦海高駕舟筏。J27nB198_p0514b14度此蒼赤,楨榦國家,雖公事皆佛事也,護法即護世J27nB198_p0514b15也。第造福作業在於幾微之分,亦惟平日提醒此念,J27nB198_p0514b16如明鏡當臺,呵之不昏、拂之不瑩,自然即事酬機,一J27nB198_p0514b17點難瞞高鑑矣?
與蔡子穀居士
J27nB198_p0514b19魔無他力,以強為勝,法門孱弊之秋,得一沒量大人,J27nB198_p0514b20現那羅延身,揮樓至寶杵,所在雷轟飆擊,直令波旬J27nB198_p0514b21群魅一時敗衄無處藏身,惜無遷固雄筆為公作傳J27nB198_p0514b22耳!
與錢機山相國
J27nB198_p0514b24春上承法從儼臨,較虎跑初相見時真機愈發、慧眼J27nB198_p0514b25頓開,般若無虛棄之功,行一步、深一步,從此憤力精J27nB198_p0514b26進如破釜焚舟,不勝局不休也,中間最怕反念,別行J27nB198_p0514b27門徑則不免寒暴之喻。大居士具大智力,決擇已定,J27nB198_p0514b28斷不為別念遊移,立地可以搆去。李都尉云:「學道還J27nB198_p0514b29須鐵漢,著手心頭便判;雨催樵子還家,風送漁舟到J27nB198_p0514b30岸。鉏麑觸樹迷封,豫讓藏身吞炭;鷺鷥飛入秋江,驚J27nB198_p0514c01起蘆花兩岸。」二偈一并拈似,冀明公有以斷案。
