J26nB182_p0476b04金栗石車和尚掩龕。「生擒猛虎,活捉獰龍,杖頭斷衲J26nB182_p0476b05子命根,喝下了當機大事。者是我法兄石車和尚尋J26nB182_p0476b06常用底茶飯,而今末後提持,直使人人徹骨徹髓。且J26nB182_p0476b07把住要津一句作麼生道?」遂掩龕,云:「巍巍坐斷十方J26nB182_p0476b08界,誰敢當陽正眼窺?」
J26nB182_p0476b09淨菴禪人入塔。「西風急,葉歸根,皮膚煉盡真實存,紅J26nB182_p0476b10塵鬧市無心入,險峻高峰亦不停。淨禪人,須惺惺,家J26nB182_p0476b11山莫向外邊尋,直向此中明落處,大地山河一片銀。」J26nB182_p0476b12時值雪
J26nB182_p0476b13道助維那火。「腳跟著實底,頂門上自然眼活;胸次安J26nB182_p0476b14貼者,生死岸不用挨排。所以道:助維那雖未利生,自J26nB182_p0476b15信不從人得,臨行撒手,卻也絕後光前。山僧固是無J26nB182_p0476b16法與人,不免鋪花錦上。」攛下火炬,云:「與汝一把火,遍J26nB182_p0476b17體悉光明。」
J26nB182_p0476b18耆舊玄猷師火。「來時不挂一絲頭,撒手縣崖得自由,J26nB182_p0476b19箇裏了無生死相,馳求心念悉皆休。恭惟玄猷師於J26nB182_p0476b20綠陰濃處抽身,紅焰光中進步,直得瑞氣騰空,煙雲J26nB182_p0476b21匝地。且道:畢竟向甚麼處安身立命?踏破化城歸寶J26nB182_p0476b22所,蓮花國土任遨遊。」
J26nB182_p0476b23耆舊幻空師火。「四大都來總一空,幻生幻滅了無蹤。J26nB182_p0476b24但恁去,絕羅籠,佛國天堂觸處通。」
J26nB182_p0476b25謙光禪人火。「太湖水,龍池山,此事從來無覆藏,不向J26nB182_p0476b26他方求的旨,管教步步是家鄉。只者是,絕商量,子規J26nB182_p0476b27啼處落花香。」
J26nB182_p0476b28普照禪人火。「妄念頓息,雲散長天,虛空迸裂,日湧山J26nB182_p0476b29巔。普照!普照!欲識末後句,烈焰了生緣。」
J26nB182_p0476b30覺然上人入塔。「真覺光明煥,靈然無間斷,撒手忽西J26nB182_p0476c01歸,遺下者公案,付與丙丁公,露出本來面。欲識本來J26nB182_p0476c02面,且向塔中須自看。」
J26nB182_p0476c03續燈師入塔。師舉靈骨,云:「半世苦奔馳,輔弼先師無J26nB182_p0476c04二念。一生能事畢武林精舍,即歸真彌勒內院,卻參J26nB182_p0476c05勝熱門庭,皮膚煉盡,堅實皆存。」遂放下靈骨,云:「此處J26nB182_p0476c06安身妙,雲霞四面生。」
J26nB182_p0476c07拙生禪人火。舉炬,云:「拙生!拙生!觸處圓成,信腳行去,J26nB182_p0476c08步步皆親。三途成解脫,佛國不留情,古今當念了,剎J26nB182_p0476c09境一毫明。汝若信得及,我不再叮嚀。脫或未然,烈焰J26nB182_p0476c10光中休放過,無位真人露面門。」遂下火。
J26nB182_p0476c11徐無隱居士火。舉炬,云:「道人行履無留戀,浙水閩山J26nB182_p0476c12成一片,猛然覷破死生關,不妨是處作禪苑。恭惟無J26nB182_p0476c13隱居士時中清淨護衣珠,而嘗在隨流得妙了當處J26nB182_p0476c14以湛然。囊橐蕭蕭,視世相若空花;道心切切,操真常J26nB182_p0476c15之不變。及乎臨末稍頭,內無所累,外無所牽,結趺長J26nB182_p0476c16往,了一生案。雖然,恐其見處未圓、行處不到,更聽一J26nB182_p0476c17偈:無位真人無背面,直下薦得猶隔線,一炬紅光相J26nB182_p0476c18助公,管教觸處自成現。」遂攛炬。
J26nB182_p0476c19祖權維那火。執火炬,云:「虛空既迸裂,火裏急翻身,去J26nB182_p0476c20去原無去,是處樂天真。」
J26nB182_p0476c21梅谷侍者火。「觸目是家鄉,腳跟紅線斷,箇中既不昧,J26nB182_p0476c22豈復有變遷?飄然恁麼去,處處無餘欠。火光從地發,J26nB182_p0476c23獨露春風面。」
J26nB182_p0476c24成唯寮元火。「生來死去原一貫,亙古亙今無間斷。放J26nB182_p0476c25下許多閒念頭,全身證入空王殿。成唯寮元還會麼?J26nB182_p0476c26如其未能,大火炬中煆一番,管教脫體風流現。」

J26nB182_p0476c29道無貴賤、無男女、無老幼、無智愚、無僧俗,惟不明道J26nB182_p0476c30者起種種情計,如道已明,自然忘彼我,融萬物廓如J26nB182_p0477a01也。朝聞夕死,豈我欺哉?昔龐公棄家私於湘水,參石J26nB182_p0477a02頭和尚,問云:「不與萬法為侶者是什麼人?」頭遂掩其J26nB182_p0477a03口,公有省,即述偈「日用事無別」云云。又參馬祖,如前J26nB182_p0477a04問,祖云:「待汝一口吸盡西江水即向汝道。」公大悟,遂J26nB182_p0477a05述「心空及第歸」之句。遍謁諸方,日益智證,腳跟未點J26nB182_p0477a06地者,莫敢當其鋒,是真在家訪道參禪樣子。若善財J26nB182_p0477a07一生取辦,龍女八歲獻珠,憍梵波提念苕帚而徹悟,J26nB182_p0477a08廣額屠兒放下屠刀,千佛一數,安有貴、賤,男、女,老、幼,J26nB182_p0477a09智、愚,僧、俗哉?長水冶堂居士,生華屋,植善果,參名宿,J26nB182_p0477a10訪古梅谿而結庵,兀坐蒲團,研窮向上,不遜前代諸J26nB182_p0477a11公。雖然,覷破一念未生前消息,方知插一莖草,建梵J26nB182_p0477a12剎竟,那時誰敢向居士面前撒沙撒土也?
跋楚文上人血書《華嚴經》
J26nB182_p0477a14有大經卷在一微塵中,量等三千大千世界,惟過量J26nB182_p0477a15人能剖而出之。緣一切含靈迷而不覺,故遮那世尊J26nB182_p0477a16共諸菩薩忉忉怛怛打了一部華嚴葛藤。今上人深J26nB182_p0477a17體佛意,刺血書成,使無量法門、無邊法界悉皆血滴J26nB182_p0477a18滴地。且道:遮那未動舌根已前,喚甚麼作經?向者裏J26nB182_p0477a19下得一轉語,不移寸步、不勞彈指,已見五十三員善J26nB182_p0477a20知識矣。

J26nB182_p0477a22於戲!先生清標玉立,川嶽鍾靈。樹駿騰芳,南國之傑J26nB182_p0477a23士;翊宗崇教,西方之偉人。緬昔禹門牆塹者寡,惟我J26nB182_p0477a24石翁弘其檀護。先師道契,龍池聿振,哲人云逝,伊誰J26nB182_p0477a25其蔭?所幸先生遹追厥志,剪荊棘以衛我籓籬,值桑J26nB182_p0477a26滄而禪林安戢,方祝遐社於將來,謂九如其罔斁。胡J26nB182_p0477a27年逾強仕,遽乃奄忽。兀坐空山,驚聞易簀。先生生兮,J26nB182_p0477a28如大海之波揚。先生蛻兮,如碧天之雲散。有生死兮J26nB182_p0477a29無生死,不變常兮有變常。我固知先生瞑目兮玉樹J26nB182_p0477a30森森,且先生不死兮滿篋瑤琨。山蒼蒼兮雲悠悠,挽J26nB182_p0477b01杖履兮不少留。謹供伊蒲,載焚柏子,為寫憂心,聊申J26nB182_p0477b02道素,信猶不昧,靈其來格。於戲尚饗。

J26nB182_p0478c02辛巳十一月二十一晚,兩序執事息乾、化林等懇師J26nB182_p0478c03說行實。師云:「夙生不昧,如釋迦老子初生下地便顯J26nB182_p0478c04揚此事,堪為萬古規模。山僧始初行腳,不遇大作家,J26nB182_p0478c05受盡艱辛。今日既蒙諸職事堅請,不妨盡情吐露。山J26nB182_p0478c06僧生禾中思賢里,俗姓張。五歲失怙,母金氏,居外家,J26nB182_p0478c07山僧依伯氏資生。幼而失學,十九禮興善寺涵初師J26nB182_p0478c08出家。二十三過苕谿圓證寺,刺血書《法華》,唄誦三年,J26nB182_p0478c09每遇耆碩即求開示。一僧持《禪關策進》相示,山僧如J26nB182_p0478c10獲大寶,意謂必是出生死法門一著,但不知如何用J26nB182_p0478c11工,惟看『無』字,疑情漸發,雜念稍輕。適常住請聞谷大J26nB182_p0478c12師,心竊喜之,比至,問:『如何用工?』谷為開示,且云:『速上J26nB182_p0478c13徑山做工夫去。』山僧依命即往,蒙首座南明師開導,J26nB182_p0478c14晝夜奮勵。過二年,回禾,閱《楞嚴經》,至『諸可還者,自然J26nB182_p0478c15非汝;不汝還者,非汝而誰』,恍然有得,心中了了,開口J26nB182_p0478c16又卻疑似。聞雲門湛和尚顯聖開堂,遂往參,問:『正睡J26nB182_p0478c17著時無夢無想,主人公在甚麼處安身立命?』湛云:『汝J26nB182_p0478c18是箇無主孤魂。』山僧擬對,湛搖手云:『擬議即不堪。』進J26nB182_p0478c19堂,三七不許坐,惟東行西行。一日,湛上堂,云:『眾兄弟!J26nB182_p0478c20且道:一切放下,阿那箇是主人?』公豎拂子,云:『舉頭天J26nB182_p0478c21外看,誰是我般人?』山僧如黑暗中跳出。期畢,復回禾J26nB182_p0478c22住,靜養母。每憶古人十死九生,幾番悟徹,方到大休J26nB182_p0478c23歇場,如何便歇手?聞本師和尚住金栗結制,往參。茶J26nB182_p0478c24次,問:『者位僧那裏?』山僧便喝。本師云:『老僧過在甚麼J26nB182_p0478c25處?』山僧云:『再犯不容。』本師云:『犯後如何?』山僧擬議,本J26nB182_p0478c26師打云:『該是我打你。』山僧通身流汗,伎倆都盡,同伴J26nB182_p0478c27者促歸,朝夕放不下。一日入城,聞人家打小廝,云:『看J26nB182_p0478c28你藏在那裏去?』即便身心踴躍,口占一偈云:『沒處藏,J26nB182_p0478c29沒處藏,全身獨露在街坊,堪笑華亭擺渡漢,葛藤打J26nB182_p0478c30得太郎當。』終日快活,卻被快活境所轉,默默檢點,依J26nB182_p0479a01舊信不過。乃因先母去世,送靈骨入雲棲塔,回棄靜J26nB182_p0479a02室,復參本師。時同寮淑之空林、惟一雪濟諸兄,日夕J26nB182_p0479a03提本分事,山僧轉放不下。一日,有僧問:『如何是佛法J26nB182_p0479a04的的大意?』本師云:『近前來。』僧近前,本師云:『老僧從來J26nB182_p0479a05未曾眼花。』僧罔措,山僧聞之頓釋從前寶惜,親見佛J26nB182_p0479a06祖及一切含靈立地處,回觀佛經公案是甚麼弄猴J26nB182_p0479a07猻圈繢,因念歷劫沉迷,今幸發明,深蓄厚養為生生J26nB182_p0479a08計,亦不去方丈通消息便歸靜室,時年三十九也。眾J26nB182_p0479a09檀延主東塔,冬結拈花社,故有問答機緣語。乙亥年,J26nB182_p0479a10本師七旬,山僧預到天童祝壽,入門便喝,本師云:『胡J26nB182_p0479a11喝亂喝。』山僧又喝,本師復云:『胡喝亂喝。』山僧禮拜,本J26nB182_p0479a12師打云:『你再喝喝看。』山僧云:『蒼天!蒼天!』茶畢,禮出。本J26nB182_p0479a13師云:『萬如!我直下疑你者兩喝,道道看。』山僧云:『歇歇J26nB182_p0479a14與和尚道。』便行。次日,本師固留山僧云:『待回去,退了J26nB182_p0479a15院,來親近和尚。』遂回禾,清理常住,交付檀越,入山充J26nB182_p0479a16侍者。一日,侍本師洗面次,問:『今日是幾時?』山僧云:『臘J26nB182_p0479a17月二十四,俗家送灶日。』本師云:『送在甚處去?』山僧大J26nB182_p0479a18笑。本師復云:『甚處燒飯喫?』山僧云:『從來不饑,燒甚麼J26nB182_p0479a19飯?』本師休去。又一日,侍話次,本師云:『般若無知,無所J26nB182_p0479a20不知,速道。』山僧拍膝而出。又一晚,侍次,本師舉:『一翳J26nB182_p0479a21在眼,空花亂墜。你如何會?』山僧諾聲便出。又一日,侍J26nB182_p0479a22次,本師云:『薰風自南來,殿閣生微涼。汝作麼生會?』山J26nB182_p0479a23僧云:『嚴霜初降,徹骨皆寒。』本師云:『天地縣隔。』山僧拂J26nB182_p0479a24補便出。復呈頌云:『薰風自南來,殿閣生微涼,遍體寒J26nB182_p0479a25毛豎,將身納被藏。鼻息鼾鼾一覺醒,從來越國是南J26nB182_p0479a26方。』本師頷之,早晚提誨,日益智證。丁丑春,舊檀闇齋J26nB182_p0479a27黃公請歸如庵,因辭出山,本師遂付囑山僧:『於此禁J26nB182_p0479a28足數年便成叢席。』大眾!者是山僧不唧溜,所以走卻J26nB182_p0479a29許多屈路。若有力漢子,如古人娘肚皮裏便作獅子J26nB182_p0479a30吼,豈不出釋迦老子一頭地?若看山僧樣子,便耽誤J26nB182_p0479b01了眾兄弟多少好光陰。久立,伏惟珍重。」

J26nB182_p0479b03公諱通微,字萬如,禾中人,族姓張氏。父卒,公方孩提,J26nB182_p0479b04其母金攜之育外家。至踰齠齔,未知所學,乃從其諸J26nB182_p0479b05父習世間資生之業,既而矢志出塵。年十九,依本郡J26nB182_p0479b06興善寺涵初上人剃染,凡四載。過苕上圓證寺,會有J26nB182_p0479b07所感,瀝血手書《法華經》,繼以讀誦,歷三寒暑不輟。公J26nB182_p0479b08具有夙種,遇法中耆宿,即懇示出世法。有僧授公雲J26nB182_p0479b09棲《禪關策進》一帙,公閱寶之,謂出生死一著在是也。J26nB182_p0479b10遂提撕趙州無字話,諸念屏絕。適圓證將延瓶窯聞J26nB182_p0479b11谷大師者,公心竊喜。谷至,公求示用功方便,谷策令J26nB182_p0479b12上徑山,有首座南明為公開導。公朝夕奮勵,坐兩夏,J26nB182_p0479b13出山回禾,懷疑未泮。偶閱《楞嚴》「諸可還者,自然非汝」J26nB182_p0479b14處,恍有所得。遂渡錢塘,入雲門山,以無夢無想話請J26nB182_p0479b15益湛然和尚。于湛語下,如破重昏,旋歸禾。公之所以J26nB182_p0479b16往來桑梓者,時母在,溫清甘旨未能去心,然念古人J26nB182_p0479b17三登九上,必悟徹到大休歇地方為了手。會先師天J26nB182_p0479b18童老人,方結茅天台通玄峰頂,海昌蔡子縠居士請J26nB182_p0479b19住鹽之金栗,公摳衣來參,于棒下汗流遍體,打失從J26nB182_p0479b20前伎倆,憤蓋切。一日入城,聞路傍人家毆吒小廝,云:J26nB182_p0479b21「看你藏在那裏去?」公不覺躍然,口占一偈云:「沒處藏,J26nB182_p0479b22沒處藏,全身獨露在街坊,堪笑華亭擺渡漢,葛藤打J26nB182_p0479b23得太郎當。」自此慶快無似。然時中默炤云未能自信。J26nB182_p0479b24緣母逝,公盡喪事,抱母骨入雲棲藏諸窣堵,復棄舊J26nB182_p0479b25隱之金栗,居行食單。是歲余亦在老人會裏,公寮中J26nB182_p0479b26有淑之空林、惟一鹽梅諸同參與余善,皆具有氣岸,J26nB182_p0479b27晨夕剋究,以本分事相激發。余每入寮,見諸抗論切J26nB182_p0479b28磋語常譁,公獨默默坐單頭上,私自惟曰:「此古所謂J26nB182_p0479b29鐵橛子禪也。」從是敬畏公,漸成相識。踰時會有僧問J26nB182_p0479b30老人:「如何是佛法的的大意?」老人曰:「近前來。」僧方近J26nB182_p0479c01前,老人咄云:「老僧從來未曾眼花。」公在旁聞之,頓釋J26nB182_p0479c02所疑,從前寶惜一時放下,自謂親見佛祖及一切含J26nB182_p0479c03靈立地處,回觀佛經公案是甚麼弄猴猻圈繢,其年J26nB182_p0479c04蓋三十九。公既了徹,不自表暴,徑歸靜室。余嘗與今J26nB182_p0479c05雪竇和尚過禾,必晤公,或傾倒即去、或留連浹旬。見J26nB182_p0479c06公嘗提古宿語,于近代則愛雪嶠老人語,脫灑有致。J26nB182_p0479c07夫禾之道俗知公者,日漸歸信,檀護聞風延住東塔,J26nB182_p0479c08結拈華社,一時扣擊,囊錐少露。崇禎乙亥冬,老人從J26nB182_p0479c09育王遷主天童已五載,雄工庀材,叢席方新,又值七J26nB182_p0479c10旬誕,四方趨慶,公瓣香來祝,入門便喝,老人云:「胡喝J26nB182_p0479c11亂喝。」公又喝,老人復云:「胡喝亂喝。」公遂禮拜,老人棒J26nB182_p0479c12之,云:「你再喝喝看。」公云:「蒼天!蒼天!」將出,老人驀呼云:J26nB182_p0479c13「萬如!我直下疑你者兩喝,道道看。」公曰:「歇歇與和尚J26nB182_p0479c14道。」便行。詰朝相見,老人提獎公,令住座下。公銜命,仍J26nB182_p0479c15以東塔歸檀護,尋入山居侍寮,後復典客,在老人左J26nB182_p0479c16右,質勘不一。公日益智證,行實自詳載之。丁丑春,憲J26nB182_p0479c17副闇齋黃公致書山中,邀公歸舊隱。公辭行老人,始J26nB182_p0479c18以大法囑累之,公前後住靜數載。又三年,如菴成,老J26nB182_p0479c19人為書其額。己卯,先老人以修祖塔事,杖屨飄然渡J26nB182_p0479c20江,將之南嶽,道經檇李,黃公聞之,迎住素園,與公居J26nB182_p0479c21隔帶水。適同學林野奇公亦至,余三人泛舴艋,晨往J26nB182_p0479c22夕歸,在老人側踧踖而侍,歸菴怡怡如也。辛巳,禾中J26nB182_p0479c23檀護請公就如菴開法,與余古南相去僅一舍,弟子J26nB182_p0479c24常往來于門,彼此無間。壬午,赴閩中曹山之請,是歲J26nB182_p0479c25先老人示寂通玄峰,公奔訃跋履山川,恰先老人入J26nB182_p0479c26塔天童,癸未之二月矣。公與同門昆季重晤太白峰J26nB182_p0479c27下,相敘悲喜,葬事甫訖,公將還禾,隨有龍池之請。先J26nB182_p0479c28是龍池自一源禪師卓錫後,林壑寂寥。幻祖住臺山J26nB182_p0479c29秘魔巖,燕都普照寺,時與毘陵唐太常凝菴公為方J26nB182_p0479c30外契,于是延祖重闢榛莽,復搆禪宇,臨濟一宗中興J26nB182_p0480a01于斯,海內龍象如聞谷印、抱璞蓮、雪嶠信、無擇某,靡J26nB182_p0480a02不走參于山,猶登龍門,冀一變其骨。逮先老人受幻J26nB182_p0480a03祖付囑,于此開法,尋意有不合,拂衣上江西,其席遂J26nB182_p0480a04虛。雖多歷年,所任眷屬相守檀護無異議者,葉落歸J26nB182_p0480a05根,蓋復望先老人還山也。至是告寂,胥愕然隕涕曰:J26nB182_p0480a06「向之所以虛此席者,待天童也。今其逝矣,如此席何?J26nB182_p0480a07莫若告于幻祖,鬮其法嗣之可者。」眾皆曰善,乃首鬮J26nB182_p0480a08余,眾為然矣。先老人侍者昌公,號續燈者,進曰:「龍池J26nB182_p0480a09自先老人出山二十餘年,禪規大弛,眷屬蕃衍,甚難J26nB182_p0480a10乎住持也。古南為人不受委曲,儻入山,萬一不相合,J26nB182_p0480a11是可為慮。莫若擇其間慈和平易者,內可以調眾,外J26nB182_p0480a12不倦應酬,庶幾祖庭之福,天聽、民聽其揆一也。」于是J26nB182_p0480a13勤舊從其言,以檀護書迎公歸龍池焉。公初至,穀無J26nB182_p0480a14十石儲。所謂眷屬少者,他邁年老而皤然者尚二十J26nB182_p0480a15餘輩。公一加意撫循,內外和、上下安,法化大行,一住J26nB182_p0480a16十五年,得法者五十輩,剃度弟子二百餘,增置禪室,J26nB182_p0480a17山產皆半于先,倉庫盈溢,昌公之言于是乎驗也。滄J26nB182_p0480a18桑之後,青山白雲,萑苻充斥,或告公曰:「事將不測,盍J26nB182_p0480a19去?」諸公曰:「祖塔在,我將何之?」卒不應。時徑山卜住持,J26nB182_p0480a20合山勤舊鬮公于伽藍前,遂得一聲,宏和即致淛吳J26nB182_p0480a21薦紳具書登請。舊等跪求必赴,公固卻,雖天童虛席,J26nB182_p0480a22檀護及同門堅請累次,力謝不往。又禾中興善,乃公J26nB182_p0480a23脫白之所,同寺馥生馨公于癸巳歲,持諸士大夫書J26nB182_p0480a24躬請開堂于寺,欲建立法範,以傳久遠而啟後昆,公J26nB182_p0480a25以茲山危嵲概謝絕。嗚呼!捐軀衛祖庭,求于古人乃J26nB182_p0480a26不多得,又誰復如公者乎?當其時,操戈者屢屢入院,J26nB182_p0480a27公不少避,親為勸諭,幸來者瞻公顏色,聆公語話,皆J26nB182_p0480a28載拜而去。至途遇緇素,稱往龍池者,悉不犯。噫!非公J26nB182_p0480a29願力弘大,至誠感人,與茲山有緣,其能若是乎哉?昔J26nB182_p0480a30司馬頭陀相溈山大吉,堪為禪林,必得其人居之。百J26nB182_p0480b01丈祖曰:「老僧若何?」頭陀曰:「和尚多骨,此山多肉,不稱。」J26nB182_p0480b02丈祖乃令頭陀遍相會下人,得佑典座者,頭陀曰:「此J26nB182_p0480b03真溈山主人矣。」佑遂居之,後果成叢林,共住千五百J26nB182_p0480b04衲子,名著海內。公之住龍池,殆相合焉。公世壽六十J26nB182_p0480b05四,僧臘四十六,生于萬曆甲午五月十五日寅時,于J26nB182_p0480b06順治丁酉十月廿九日巳時示寂。其徒以訃來告,余J26nB182_p0480b07抱同條之戚,即入山弔之為掩龕。在山月餘,當歲窮,J26nB182_p0480b08雨雪交作,見溧陽、溧水、金壇、句曲、建平、廣德、淳溪等J26nB182_p0480b09邑道信越峻嶺、沙泥濘,尚憧憧不絕,以一到龍池為J26nB182_p0480b10幸,則公存日之奔赴必相倍蓗,又可知矣。信乎莊生J26nB182_p0480b11之言曰:「水之積也不厚,則其負大舟也無力;風之積J26nB182_p0480b12也不厚,又何能搏扶搖九萬里而圖南耶?」公初于金J26nB182_p0480b13栗發悟自誓,深蓄厚養,為隱居之地,名莊曹圩,村舍J26nB182_p0480b14數椽,一行童事,薪水樸實恭謹。余常過公,公或他出,J26nB182_p0480b15行童見客,如法款留。暨公歸,喜見眉宇,促膝相對,茗J26nB182_p0480b16碗共之,誼甚浹洽。其尋常不事外飾,不尚雜學,口齒J26nB182_p0480b17之間惟拈提己躬事,意必恢張法門。及夫時節既至,J26nB182_p0480b18果熟香飄,向之村舍,煥成寶坊。其入龍池也,道風遐J26nB182_p0480b19播,緇流雲赴,檀施川積,皆不期然而然。要亦有所本,J26nB182_p0480b20與公天性溫厚,事師處友念甚篤摯,生平慈攝居多。J26nB182_p0480b21曩如菴見公如此,今無異焉,是皆公具真實荷眾心,J26nB182_p0480b22而天龍默為相之。余于以見公緣之能稱其心也,又J26nB182_p0480b23因以見公法化入人之深也,蓋得五祖御下之遺意J26nB182_p0480b24焉。方病甚,有檀信請陞堂垂示,眾苦公,為辭謝,公曰:J26nB182_p0480b25「彼到山者皆幾百里,不憚辛苦來求法,我可不耐片J26nB182_p0480b26時之勞為一開導乎?」乃命侍者掖登法座,滿其初願。J26nB182_p0480b27其心慈切不倦如此。公往住靜夜寐夙興,不雜用心,J26nB182_p0480b28能拺辨古人言句。後在天童典客,余忝記室。一日,扣J26nB182_p0480b29公曰:「雲門出雪峰之門,語大奇峭。雪峰見學人有問,J26nB182_p0480b30多云是甚麼?何也?」公曰:「雲門之機如險崖,絕不可攀J26nB182_p0480c01攬。雪峰非無變通,要亦揭示全機。所謂語不失宗便J26nB182_p0480c02休。二老似有不同,其實無優劣。」時余謝不敏,從是知J26nB182_p0480c03公所見出世後三會語甚多,至晚年自訂二冊行世,J26nB182_p0480c04皆切實本色,衲子具眼目者競求之。公之塔在山門J26nB182_p0480c05之左下坡若干步,山為唐氏所施,公在時剃度弟子J26nB182_p0480c06某化造,公自題額曰「青山常在」,其諸弟子將奉全身J26nB182_p0480c07藏于茲。塔上一片石,將乞大手筆銘之,以垂不朽。念J26nB182_p0480c08公生平悟由雖表,道行未詳,復念宗長中與其師契J26nB182_p0480c09闊而無間者莫如余,知其師一生履歷行事者又莫J26nB182_p0480c10如余,且首座永泰模、西堂鐵關能,皆先從余于古南J26nB182_p0480c11而介為舟者,又素知余主張叢林綱紀不失、發言不J26nB182_p0480c12阿,乃同辭請為狀。余雖不敏,義弗能拒,略述如此。奔J26nB182_p0480c13弔之日,輓以四詩,中有云「主賓互換明宗旨,棒喝同J26nB182_p0480c14時建法幢」,蓋公開法時節適與余同主賓互換。余蘇J26nB182_p0480c15人而住檇李,公禾人而住荊溪,借明所住之巧,皆實J26nB182_p0480c16事也。曾共鴛湖朝夕泛,或隨漁父詠歌旋,蓋憶先老J26nB182_p0480c17人寓黃公素園時與公追隨之景。余主太白,記公臘J26nB182_p0480c18六旬,遙以詩為壽云「春風相送兩來舟,憶別松陵又J26nB182_p0480c19五秋」。兩來舟者,己丑春,公送介姪住如菴而返,余從J26nB182_p0480c20虞山法席掛帆而南,相值于吳江也。是後余以病嬾,J26nB182_p0480c21遂至契闊。末章云「尺素豈難通問訊?一枝私愧異行J26nB182_p0480c22藏」,乃余又自狀也。雪竇和尚重陽登山,禮幻祖塔。小J26nB182_p0480c23陽四日,至潤云:「龍池病甚。」余心惻然。未幾而訃至,所J26nB182_p0480c24以云「桂香虛問清秋疾,楓老遄奔近塔霜」,蓋傷遲暮J26nB182_p0480c25之年,同條奄忽,宗社凋零,感慨係之,用附于末耳。說J26nB182_p0480c26者云達磨西來,面壁九年,不立文字。黃檗謂若也形J26nB182_p0480c27于紙墨,何有吾宗?抑潛符密證,克紹箇事,山林之分,J26nB182_p0480c28如斯而已,曷俟乎刻畫其面目,點綴其行事,章章表J26nB182_p0480c29于世耶?余日絕書契、廢紀牒,佛祖無以聞、聖賢無以J26nB182_p0480c30鏡,日月雖照,有生不將冥冥然,若處長夜。矧向上一J26nB182_p0481a01路,又誰喻之?夫宇宙所以有文字者,乃天地生人之J26nB182_p0481a02眼目,上矚千古,下昭百世,世出世間,不可已者,存其J26nB182_p0481a03人、留其範,然後吾宗斯久住于世。惟當世主張斯道,J26nB182_p0481a04王公大人儒釋一貫,宗說兩通立言君子,採此蕪辭,J26nB182_p0481a05錫之珠玉,賁我山林,則靈山付囑有在。謹狀。

J26nB182_p0481a08龍池萬如禪師,以丁酉冬遷化。明年春,其徒介為乞J26nB182_p0481a09塔銘於予。予雖辱與師周旋,然所謂卿用卿法、我用J26nB182_p0481a10我法者,安得作家如張無盡為湛堂點出光明哉!既J26nB182_p0481a11不獲辭,乃閱師生平語錄,與山志中所載前後因緣,J26nB182_p0481a12銘其塔曰:
