J40nB493_p0504c03 J40nB493_p0504c04師於雍正八年春,在鄱陽永鎮寺受請,至四月初八J40nB493_p0504c05日入院。
J40nB493_p0504c06山門。「此是雲門一字關,試問諸人作麼生得入?」振威J40nB493_p0504c07喝一喝,云:「一踏鴻門兩扇開。」
J40nB493_p0504c08佛殿。「日面月面,覿面相見。纖毫擬議,君往西秦,我之J40nB493_p0504c09東魯。」驀喝一喝云:「何得入門便觸忤。」遂大展九拜。
J40nB493_p0504c10伽藍。「大覺為伽藍,身心安居,平等性智。」復云:「深山藏J40nB493_p0504c11獨虎,淺草露群蛇。」
J40nB493_p0504c12「達磨隻履西歸,鈍置黃面老子,九年面壁,氣飲天下J40nB493_p0504c13兒孫,且道過在甚麼處?」遂又十指掩面作窺勢,云:「阿J40nB493_p0504c14姐,阿姐!」
J40nB493_p0504c15入室。「書頭教娘勤作息,書尾教娘莫瞌睡。坐斷中間,J40nB493_p0504c16不落窩臼,未免法報化身叫屈。摩竭阤親行此令,毗J40nB493_p0504c17耶離已現神通。還委悉麼?」以拄杖卓一卓,喝一喝。
J40nB493_p0504c18是日,山主公請上堂。師指法座召眾云:「者是什麼所J40nB493_p0504c19在?」驀喝一喝,云:「獅子吼時芳草綠,象王行處落花紅。」J40nB493_p0504c20便陞。
J40nB493_p0504c21拈香,云:「此一瓣香,山河為壽,日月是心,端為祝延今J40nB493_p0504c22上J40nB493_p0504c23皇帝聖躬萬歲萬歲萬萬歲陛下,伏願高履羲皇之世,永J40nB493_p0504c24戴陶虞之天。
J40nB493_p0504c25「此一瓣香,西汀第二回拈出,供養靈虛堂上殺人不J40nB493_p0504c26眨眼的古雲沛老和尚,以酬法乳之恩。」斂衣就座。維J40nB493_p0504c27那白椎云:「法筵龍象眾,當觀第一義。」師云:「第一義,蚊J40nB493_p0504c28子上鐵牛,無你下嘴處。眾中莫有不甘者,試申嘴看。」J40nB493_p0504c29僧問:「法不孤起,仗境方生;道不虛行,遇緣即應。和上J40nB493_p0504c30今登寶座,應個什麼因緣?」師云:「堯天舜日。」進云:「域中J40nB493_p0505a01日月縱橫挂,一亙晴空萬古脊。」師云:「瞎老婆吹火。」進J40nB493_p0505a02云:「如何是先照後用?」師云:「猴愁摟搜頭。」「先用後照?」「狗J40nB493_p0505a03走抖擻口。」「照用同時?」「溪西雞齊啼。」「照用不同時?」「屋北J40nB493_p0505a04鹿獨宿。」進云:「照用蒙師指,那事更如何?」師云:「大眾看J40nB493_p0505a05者僧忘卻了也。」進云:「低聲,低聲。」師云:「纔學搓彈子,便J40nB493_p0505a06要捏金剛。」問:「天垂寶蓋,地湧金蓮,帝釋散花,牧女獻J40nB493_p0505a07供,且道西汀有何祥瑞?」師云:「五日一風,十日一雨。」進J40nB493_p0505a08云:「又道世尊說法四十九年,未曾說著一字,師登曲J40nB493_p0505a09盝,今說何法?」師乃良久。進云:「莫是和上受用處麼?」師J40nB493_p0505a10云:「參。」進云:「文不加點,工豈浪施?」師云:「謝三娘秤銀。」問:J40nB493_p0505a11「舉步涉千岐,孤坐又成迷,如何得恰好?」師云:「饑得食,J40nB493_p0505a12寒得衣。」進云:「如何是海裏泥牛啣月走?」「剜肉作瘡。」「崖J40nB493_p0505a13前石虎抱兒眠?」「喫鹽救渴。」「鐵蛇鑽入金剛眼?」「敲冰取J40nB493_p0505a14火。」「崑崙騎象鷺鷥牽?」「掘地覓天。」進云:「獅絃方一奏,曹J40nB493_p0505a15源正脈通。」師云:「學語之流。」乃云:「海裏泥牛啣月走,崖J40nB493_p0505a16前石虎抱兒眠,鐵蛇鑽入金剛眼,崑崙騎象鷺鷥牽。J40nB493_p0505a17高峰大師云:『此四句中有一句能殺、能活、能縱、能奪,J40nB493_p0505a18眾中若有檢點得出,管取參學事畢。』」遂顧左右,云:「大J40nB493_p0505a19眾!且道是那一句?試出檢點看。」良久,云:「如無,今日山J40nB493_p0505a20僧打令之初豈肯顢頇?不惜口業與汝諸人註破。若J40nB493_p0505a21論參學二字,笑不成、哭不就,未出門平地喫交,便證J40nB493_p0505a22古云:『者一交,者一交,萬兩黃金也合消。頭上笠,腰間J40nB493_p0505a23包,清風明月杖頭挑。』既出門,復爾築破腳指,亦云:『悔J40nB493_p0505a24不慎當初,誰道九九八十一依舊?』無盡居士曰:『趙州J40nB493_p0505a25八十猶行腳,秪為心頭未悄然,及至遍參無一事,始J40nB493_p0505a26知空費草鞋錢。』總是打鼓弄琵琶,還他一會家,木人J40nB493_p0505a27能撫掌,石女解煎茶,雲散天邊月,春來樹上花,善財J40nB493_p0505a28參遍處,黑豆未生芽。是以退養三江海福,一任春去J40nB493_p0505a29秋來三十年。不紀褌無襠、褲無口,頭上青塵三五斗,J40nB493_p0505a30只見雙雙瓦雀行書案,點點楊花入硯池,閒坐小窗J40nB493_p0505b01讀周易,不知春去幾多時?間與士大夫一觴一詠,亦J40nB493_p0505b02足以暢敘幽情,無端被一陣業風吹至鄱陽永鎮菴,J40nB493_p0505b03到此間又有此間境界,雲橫不斷青山,潮落無邊滄J40nB493_p0505b04海,日與四海高流共譚般若,夜載扁舟明月獨臥蘆J40nB493_p0505b05花,至落霞孤鶩齊飛,秋水長天一色。斯時也,豈憐猶J40nB493_p0505b06有身于人世中?相將兩載,詎意今春修褉,又蒙諸君J40nB493_p0505b07以斯席見招?余因撫掌而笑曰:『好事堆堆疊疊來,不J40nB493_p0505b08須造作與安排,落溪黃葉水推去,橫谷白雲風捲回。』J40nB493_p0505b09眾中還有知得山僧快活處麼?」良久,云:「是處是慈氏,J40nB493_p0505b10無門無善財。」復舉:「龐居士參馬大師云:『不與萬法為J40nB493_p0505b11侶者是什麼人?』大師云:『待汝一口汲盡西江再向汝J40nB493_p0505b12道。』」師云:「大師雖則唱高和寡,未免難遇知音。西汀也J40nB493_p0505b13要狗尾續貂。今日設有問:『不與萬法為侶者是什麼J40nB493_p0505b14人?』但向道:『萬國醉心嘗大鼎,相逢攜手上高臺。』」遂合J40nB493_p0505b15掌向空云:「願以此功德,普及於一切,我等與眾生,皆J40nB493_p0505b16共成佛道。」結椎,下座。
J40nB493_p0505b17當晚小參。舉:「古德云:『六十年前狼籍,東壁打到西壁,J40nB493_p0505b18而今收拾歸來,依舊水連天碧。』」師云:「古人雖得一場J40nB493_p0505b19孤峻,未免露出家醜,山僧固且臂長袖短,從來不肯J40nB493_p0505b20低人。亦有一偈舉似諸方凍膿:昨夜東風狼籍,飄撲J40nB493_p0505b21花殘四壁,直眠日出通紅,萬里天空一碧。大眾!二偈J40nB493_p0505b22還有優劣也無?若道有,辜負古人;道無,違背山僧。畢J40nB493_p0505b23竟如何?」良久,云:「莫將閒學解,埋沒祖師心。」
J40nB493_p0505b24安兩序,上堂。「萬法歸一,一歸何處?東澗水流西澗水,J40nB493_p0505b25南山雲起北山雲。」揮拂子,下座。
J40nB493_p0505b26上堂。「鶯啼燕語,水綠山青。人人懷滄海之珠,個個抱J40nB493_p0505b27荊山之璧。龜毛拂子拂,兔角扇子扇。又誰管你米裏J40nB493_p0505b28有虫,麥裏有麵。盞子撲落地,碟子成七片。狗子無佛J40nB493_p0505b29性,問伊是誰見。見不見,倒騎泥牛入佛殿。」
J40nB493_p0505b30陞座。師問:「萬法歸一,一歸何處?」眾下語皆不契,師曰:J40nB493_p0505c01「自道去也。蜻蜓許是好蜻蜓,飛來飛去不曾停,被我J40nB493_p0505c02捉來捏去兩邊翼,恰似一枚大鐵釘。」
J40nB493_p0505c03上堂。拈拄杖云:「芭蕉和上云:『你有拄杖子,我與你拄J40nB493_p0505c04杖子;你無拄杖子,我奪卻你拄杖子。』既無拄杖子,奪J40nB493_p0505c05個甚麼?」復橫拄杖云:「橫按莫邪全正令,太平寰宇斬J40nB493_p0505c06癡頑。」
J40nB493_p0505c07小參。「萬里八九月,一陣西北風。空庭飛亂葉,返景叫J40nB493_p0505c08孤鴻。噫!自南自北,自西自東。」
J40nB493_p0505c09因雪,晚參。「千山鳥飛絕,萬境人蹤滅,孤舟蓑笠翁,獨J40nB493_p0505c10釣寒江雪。」遂以拄杖作釣勢,云:「眾中若有錦鱗,不妨J40nB493_p0505c11沖風破浪。」一僧纔出,師收釣,云:「慣釣鯨鯢沉巨浸,卻J40nB493_p0505c12嗟蛙步輾泥沙。」便下座。
J40nB493_p0505c13謝諸山供大衣,上堂。師拈香,云:「此一瓣香,如天普蓋、J40nB493_p0505c14似地普擎,直透我J40nB493_p0505c15皇大清國裏上下四維,八表之外、六合之內,君君、臣臣、父J40nB493_p0505c16父、子子,和上、阿闍黎,同壇尊證,上、中、下座,信施檀樾、J40nB493_p0505c17善惡知識,情與無情煥然等現,更有針鋒許山僧今J40nB493_p0505c18日不得如來衣之所覆。何故?不見道:八花毬子上,何J40nB493_p0505c19用繡紅旗?」白椎竟,師曰:「更有瑪瑙階前佈赤砂者麼?」J40nB493_p0505c20僧問:「古人道:『終日著衣,未曾挂著一縷絲。』是如何?」師J40nB493_p0505c21云:「行到水窮處,坐看雲起時。」進云:「今日和上全披法J40nB493_p0505c22服那?」師云:「你猶妄想在。」進云:「不妄想時如何?」師云:「好J40nB493_p0505c23披法服。」僧拜下,云:「謝師受記。」師云:「萬里望鄉關。」乃云:J40nB493_p0505c24「七斤布衫毫不假,十方世界覆無罅,可憐一輩杜蠻J40nB493_p0505c25禪,賺殺陳年衣線下。」遂提起袈裟角,召眾,云:「現前諸J40nB493_p0505c26兄弟個個盡披如來法服,須知衣線下有一大事因J40nB493_p0505c27緣。若論者一大事因緣,豈敢覆藏?拙乃一介駑駘,道J40nB493_p0505c28昧德微,過承諸師友千般至誠、萬種曲愛,阿譽化工J40nB493_p0505c29錦,彤雲襯白練,水路通天河,針線抽晝夜,鉤新月環J40nB493_p0505c30紅日,剪尺清風斗柄,剎那間造成一領萬德莊嚴無J40nB493_p0506a01上福田大衣,挂向須彌山上,長短寬狹、金針玉線,從J40nB493_p0506a02頭至足、周身四體正合其宜。所以,迦文昔日以丈六J40nB493_p0506a03金斕袈裟披千尺彌勒佛身,佛身不長,袈裟不短。」復J40nB493_p0506a04召眾,云:「諸兄弟!丈六袈裟、千尺佛身燭然有異,因甚J40nB493_p0506a05長短不殊?透得者個針孔過,方知衣線下事;其或未J40nB493_p0506a06然,莫謂辜負諸師虔誠,秪恐帶累山僧披此法服,脫J40nB493_p0506a07落梵志沒底靴,換取雲光破藍衫。」復喝一喝。舉:「僧問J40nB493_p0506a08東山岡祖云:『龍披一縷,金翅遠遁。比邱全披法服,因J40nB493_p0506a09甚被狗咬?』祖云:『再犯不容。』盡謂我祖雖有滄海之量,J40nB493_p0506a10卻無決斷之才,難免白玉無瑕。當時若問小孫,向道:J40nB493_p0506a11『現大人相。』豈不毅然丈夫,彼此不令矛盾?還愜得祖J40nB493_p0506a12意麼?」復云:「鴛鴦各樣,針線一般。」擲拂子,下座。
J40nB493_p0506a13師至萬年回龍菴,值九月十九初度日,監寺請上堂。J40nB493_p0506a14「淨法界身,本無出沒;大悲願力,誓現受生。」遂以雙拳J40nB493_p0506a15置額,云:「大眾看看,山僧今日向山前檀樾家作頭水J40nB493_p0506a16牯牛去也。相救,相救。就中設有個漢出來道:『陋巷不J40nB493_p0506a17騎金色馬,回頭卻著破藍衫。』咄!過去諸佛亦如是,現J40nB493_p0506a18在諸佛亦如是,未來諸佛亦如是。」復搖手,云:「莫不是J40nB493_p0506a19麼?永鎮若不披毛戴角,汝等諸人今日爭得見大悲J40nB493_p0506a20降誕?」復云:「山僧髫齔學佛,子職多虧。今母難之辰,羞J40nB493_p0506a21見賓客,遠避回龍,又蒙律菴監寺設齋,更請陞座,激J40nB493_p0506a22揚佛法。若論佛法二字,老胡未曾夢著,豈拙者哉?擬J40nB493_p0506a23效諸方吟哦幾句奇新妙語,對眾喃喃,便道利益人J40nB493_p0506a24天。其奈私心未降,莫若就事論事,即將己躬五十年J40nB493_p0506a25親歷親證揭露一上。紀得古人有則公案,諸方喚作J40nB493_p0506a26香嚴上樹,恰恰于拙分上描也描不成、畫也畫不就。J40nB493_p0506a27如人上樹,口啣樹枝、手不攀枝、腳不踏枝,設樹下有J40nB493_p0506a28人問西來意,答他喪身失命;不答,違他來意。畢竟如J40nB493_p0506a29何始得?」遂以手作,云:「那捻攏拳頭、攃開手看,是容易J40nB493_p0506a30做?是難?也不難?也不易?憶昔廣南喫荔枝,殼核剝教J40nB493_p0506b01干淨了,送君口裏何猜疑?」
J40nB493_p0506b02上堂。舉:「汾陽示眾云:『夫說法者,須具十智同真。若不J40nB493_p0506b03具,邪正不辨、緇素不分,不能為人天眼目決斷是非,J40nB493_p0506b04如鳥飛空而折翼、如箭射的而斷絃。絃斷故,射不中J40nB493_p0506b05的;翼折故,空不能飛。絃壯翼牢,空的俱徹。作麼生是J40nB493_p0506b06什智同真?與諸人一一點出:一、同質;二、同大事;三、總J40nB493_p0506b07同參;四、同真智;五、同遍普;六、同具足;七、同得失;八、同J40nB493_p0506b08生殺;九、同音吼;十、同得入。還有點得出底麼?不吝慈J40nB493_p0506b09悲,試出來道看。若點不出,未具參學眼在,卻須辨取。J40nB493_p0506b10要識是非,面目見在。』喝一喝,下座。汾陽與麼說話,大J40nB493_p0506b11似藞苴與虛空安耳穴,殊不知虛空無體、法身無相。J40nB493_p0506b12試問耳穴作麼生安?帶累後代兒孫個個向耳穴裏J40nB493_p0506b13覷。阿姐要見法身,待打破虛空著。」喝一喝。「眾中還有J40nB493_p0506b14與汾陽老子吐氣者麼?試出問看。」僧問:「如何是十智J40nB493_p0506b15同真?」「待你脫下孃生褲,再向你道。一、同質,朝勞洗面,J40nB493_p0506b16暮勞裹腳;二、同大事,與你商量不得;三、總同參,一雙J40nB493_p0506b17窮相手,未揖等閒人;四、同真智,躡足附耳,六出奇計;J40nB493_p0506b18五、同遍,普量周沙界;六、同具足,不欠一毫頭;七、同得J40nB493_p0506b19失,輸贏今生;八、同生殺,割肝療姑;九、同音吼,闍黎莫J40nB493_p0506b20召沸;十、同得入,莫在門外立。與甚麼人同得入?東村J40nB493_p0506b21王大姐。與誰同音吼?狐郎野干。作麼生同生殺?劍為J40nB493_p0506b22不平離寶匣,藥因救病出金瓶。何物同得失?剜肉醫J40nB493_p0506b23瘡。那個同具足?碌磚。何物同遍普?大如芥子許。何人J40nB493_p0506b24同真智?瞎老婆吹火。孰能總同參?十字街頭破草鞋。J40nB493_p0506b25那個同大事?綱常一擔肩。何物同一質?者一語被你J40nB493_p0506b26問得口啞,汾陽老子只得縮頭去也。」復云:「㘞。」便下座。
J40nB493_p0506b27浴佛日,上堂。舉:「城東有一老母與佛同生,不欲見佛,J40nB493_p0506b28每見佛來即便回避。雖然如此,四顧東西總皆是佛。J40nB493_p0506b29遂以手掩面,乃十指掌中無不是佛。」師代云:「誰家別J40nB493_p0506b30館池塘裏,一對鴛鴦畫不成。」又云:「兩個無孔鐵錘。」又J40nB493_p0506c01別云:「不是冤家不聚頭。」復頌云:「狹路冤家不奈何,從J40nB493_p0506c02來丈夫怕老婆,摣破者些關捩子,兩口無舌會也麼?」
J40nB493_p0506c03小參。師以拂子打○此相,云:「盡大地不出者個。」復中J40nB493_p0506c04間點一點,云:「但有一人真證實得,墻壁瓦礫悉生光J40nB493_p0506c05輝。不見世尊道:『一人發真歸源,十方世界悉皆消殞。』J40nB493_p0506c06何須更待撾鼓入室,拈椎豎拂,人天圍繞,凡聖交參,J40nB493_p0506c07山禽聚集,牛動尾巴,便將作等閒?雖然,到者底,千手J40nB493_p0506c08大悲摸不著,摩醯三眼豈能窺?所以,諸佛三昧,眾生J40nB493_p0506c09不知;眾生三昧,諸佛不知。何故?要使葛藤窩裏作竊,J40nB493_p0506c10不是白拈;十字街頭拾遺,亦非正賊。直饒向猛虎口J40nB493_p0506c11邊奪食、饑鷹爪下翻身,別有出格神機,終不守株待J40nB493_p0506c12兔。眾中莫有與麼人麼?」擊拂子,云:「龍生金鳳子,衝破J40nB493_p0506c13碧琉璃。」
J40nB493_p0506c14尼僧領眾女弟子上堂。「法不孤起,仗境方生;道不虛J40nB493_p0506c15行,遇緣即應。諸仁者!還會今日的境緣麼?」良久,云:「我J40nB493_p0506c16會耶?我會邪?十箇指頭八箇又,織錦迴紋擲金梭,豈J40nB493_p0506c17比江上浣銀紗?縱解㨢攏復撥挑,莫向馬上訢琵琶。J40nB493_p0506c18牡丹一捻紅,妒殺石榴花,和丸劃荻訓雖別,剪髮嚙J40nB493_p0506c19指誼尤奢。嗄!嗄!嗄!賣扇婆日將手遮。」卓拄杖,喝一喝,J40nB493_p0506c20云:「是大明咒?是無上咒?是無等等咒?」以杖劃一劃,云:J40nB493_p0506c21「能除一切苦,真實不虛舉。昔臺山路上有一婆子,每J40nB493_p0506c22逢僧問曰:『臺山路向甚處去?』婆曰:『向那驀直去。』僧乃J40nB493_p0506c23去。婆曰:『好個師僧!又恁麼去也。』趙州一日曰:『待老僧J40nB493_p0506c24去勘過者婆子。』遂至臺山路上,值婆,趙州亦如前問:J40nB493_p0506c25『臺山路向甚處去?』婆亦如前答曰:『向那驀直去。』州便J40nB493_p0506c26歸,婆亦曰:『好個師僧,又恁麼去也。』州至家,舉似大眾J40nB493_p0506c27曰:『臺山婆子為汝勘破了也。』」師云:「敢問諸人,那裏是J40nB493_p0506c28趙州勘破處?知得,不妨舉似山僧;不然,山僧不惜三J40nB493_p0506c29寸與你諸人說破。者則公案盡謂趙州勘破婆子,殊J40nB493_p0506c30不知趙州未出方丈早被婆子勘破了也,何待更向J40nB493_p0507a01臺山路上打一之遶,便是落七落八?不見道:『一念未J40nB493_p0507a02生全體現,六根纔動被雲遮;有念盡為煩惱鎖,無心J40nB493_p0507a03端坐水晶宮。』又道:『未跨船舷,早已三十棒。』向者裏拶J40nB493_p0507a04得一路開、挨得一線入,許你諸人看得趙州勘破婆J40nB493_p0507a05子;其或未然,只恐諸人被婆子勘破也。還委悉麼?牢J40nB493_p0507a06聽一頌:婆子萬里不見草,趙州出門便是草,帶累山J40nB493_p0507a07僧草裏輥。好好好,昨夜霸陵日杲杲,還知山僧樂處J40nB493_p0507a08麼?」呵呵大笑,下座。
J40nB493_p0507a09晚參。舉:「趙州路逢一婆子,問曰:『甚處去?』婆曰:『偷趙州J40nB493_p0507a10筍去。』曰:『設遇著趙州。』是婆便掌,州乃休去。」師召大眾J40nB493_p0507a11曰:「趙州頻日說禪瀉屎相似,因甚遇此臭婆一掌懡J40nB493_p0507a12㦬便休?須知婆子貪觀江上浪,失卻手中橈。然趙州J40nB493_p0507a13雖是苟忍,一時私心好不欣幸,猶乞兒見小利。若是J40nB493_p0507a14山僧,向他掌後,更問曰:『再偷筍麼?』他若擬議,我隨連J40nB493_p0507a15掌。何故?殺人須見血,為人須為徹,且不令後人個個J40nB493_p0507a16虎頭蛇尾。」
J40nB493_p0507a17退院,上堂。「古人道:『盡大地收來,只一芥子許。』敢問諸J40nB493_p0507a18人:者一芥子消歸何處?」云:「處處楊柳堪繫馬,家家有J40nB493_p0507a19路透長安。」又云:「是水皆歸海,無山不帶雲。」喝一喝,下J40nB493_p0507a20座。
