序
J40nB478_p0081a02此方真教體,清淨在聲聞。世尊四十九年,權實互示,J40nB478_p0081a03大小分乘,所云為一大事因緣,全托於此。迨達磨西J40nB478_p0081a04來,乃云:「不立文字,教外單傳。」後人遂欲並經論面空J40nB478_p0081a05之。嗚呼!豈但非佛意,亦大非祖意矣。為月標指,人但J40nB478_p0081a06觀指也,不如並指而無之。為岸造筏,人但認筏也,不J40nB478_p0081a07如並筏而無之。此祖意也。世尊臨了一著,謂文殊曰:J40nB478_p0081a08「吾四十九年住世,未曾說一字。」是豈教人觀指認筏J40nB478_p0081a09者?假如未說三藏十二部以前,遽拈華以示人,則子J40nB478_p0081a10瞻所云:推墮滉漾中,不可捕捉。豈教體哉?況乎初祖J40nB478_p0081a11至六,相傳只一二了語。後之公案既盛,語錄漸繁。余J40nB478_p0081a12叩諸方,咸云:不可以理義求,不可以思惟得。用是息J40nB478_p0081a13心禁口,不敢強記以聒人。蓋古人幾經磨勵,乃一悟J40nB478_p0081a14入;亦幾揀擇,乃一許可。授者受者,得意相成,原不能J40nB478_p0081a15舉以告人。而吾人欲以數十則剿襲一二日,當機詡J40nB478_p0081a16詡謂得,豈惟輕視前案,亦以欺瞞本心,不幾祖庭之J40nB478_p0081a17罪人哉?今年春,雲山啟靈,得J40nB478_p0081a18燕居大和尚駐錫弘法,蓋自無涯師寂後百年,僅見J40nB478_p0081a19此會。師提正宗,多方示誨,而相從高足,咸具法器,集J40nB478_p0081a20所為語錄,梓若千卷,余弟夢白序之矣。余竟讀請益,J40nB478_p0081a21師謂更攄所見,因思篇中如機緣,如著頌,高且深者,J40nB478_p0081a22非不隱躍心目,然不可強求,不可必得,則亦待之。若J40nB478_p0081a23夫剖三教之同異,可以息諸家之爭,而發明至理,不J40nB478_p0081a24離萬緣世法,可以解偏墮之苦。蓋師談四子書甚確,J40nB478_p0081a25昔固深於儒者,故見地圓通,而豎義軒豁,且沉雄浩J40nB478_p0081a26瀚,不減長公、升菴,則又蜀之家風哉!卓越諸方,應有J40nB478_p0081a27識者。余以理義為種子,以思惟為薰習,循循吾儒舊J40nB478_p0081a28業。竊謂子淵坐忘人也,夫子與終日言;子貢具大辯J40nB478_p0081a29才,而子欲無言。知終日言之非有也,則四十九年之J40nB478_p0081a30轉法輪也;知欲無言之非無也,則九年面壁之單傳J40nB478_p0081b01也。然則刻語錄者,豈為不讀書、不思惟理義者開方J40nB478_p0081b02便門哉?因以是印可於J40nB478_p0081b03師,師曰:「唯唯。」遂并書以為序。

J40nB478_p0081c04住貴州威青茅坡山雲天禪寺
受闔省宰官、居士洎J40nB478_p0081c05都剛等請,就大興禪寺結制,上堂。師詣法座,云:「或在J40nB478_p0081c06山間,或來城市,竿木隨身,逢場作戲。」遂陞座,拈香,云:J40nB478_p0081c07「此一瓣香,亙古如斯,卒難酬價,爇向爐中,祝延今上J40nB478_p0081c08皇帝萬歲、萬歲、萬萬歲,殿下千秋、文武百官高登祿位。J40nB478_p0081c09此一瓣香,根盤異地,葉覆群黎,爇向爐中,奉為本省J40nB478_p0081c10當道尊官、請主檀越、現前四眾共結正因,頓超物外。J40nB478_p0081c11此一瓣香,觸碎諸人鼻孔,向拄杖頭邊出氣,爇向爐J40nB478_p0081c12中,供養現住四川夔州府梁山縣雙桂堂上傳曹溪J40nB478_p0081c13正脈三十五世本師破山大和尚,用酬法乳之恩。」斂J40nB478_p0081c14衣就座。僧問:「山間意旨即不問,城市一句作麼生?」師J40nB478_p0081c15云:「無處不稱尊。」進云:「劫火洞然,大千俱壞,這箇壞不J40nB478_p0081c16壞?」師云:「透過兩重關。」進云:「如是,則佛未出世,禪未自J40nB478_p0081c17來,人人鼻孔遼天,箇箇腳跟點地,和尚陞座更說何J40nB478_p0081c18法?」師卓杖一下,僧舞坐具,師便打,乃云:「諸方上堂有J40nB478_p0081c19法說,老僧上堂無法說。有法說,鷲嶺傳來無處著;無J40nB478_p0081c20法說,座上爐煙飄殿角。日間浩浩摘楊花,夜裏明明J40nB478_p0081c21聽鼠嚼,老僧盡情都拈卻,究竟仍歸屋裏坐。」喝一喝,J40nB478_p0081c22下座。
J40nB478_p0081c23上堂。僧問:「正法眼藏即不問,緇素未分時如何?」師云:J40nB478_p0081c24「劃斷群狐路。」進云:「分後如何?」師云:「春風拂地花。」進云:J40nB478_p0081c25「分與未分時作麼生?」師云:「常憶江南三月裏,鷓鴣啼J40nB478_p0081c26處百花香。」問:「如何是涅盤妙心?」師云:「萬仞壁立。」進云:J40nB478_p0081c27「如何寂滅為樂?」師云:「無繩自縛。」進云:「即今棒打不開、J40nB478_p0081c28針劄不入又且如何?」師云:「徹底掀翻。」乃云:「五里亭,十J40nB478_p0081c29里舖,夜則明行晝暗度,把住通津不放行,饒他佛祖J40nB478_p0081c30難回互,除是銅頭鐵額來,頂門一擊全身露。所以道:J40nB478_p0082a01坐籌帷屋之中,決勝八方之路,殺活超然,俱歸掌握。J40nB478_p0082a02且保民庇國一句作麼生道?」擲下拂,云:「干戈纔用煙J40nB478_p0082a03塵盡,野老相忘樂太平。」
J40nB478_p0082a04上堂。僧問:「不慕諸聖、不重己靈時如何?」師云:「鵝王擇J40nB478_p0082a05乳,素非鴨類。」僧擬議,師便打,乃云:「諸人自有一寶,用J40nB478_p0082a06得慣熟,在空滿空,在谷滿谷,動靜忙閒,頭出頭沒。雖J40nB478_p0082a07然如是,直須識取把針人,莫看鴛鴦好毛羽。」
J40nB478_p0082a08上堂。僧問:「此事不在內外中間,畢竟在什麼處?」師云:J40nB478_p0082a09「恰。」進云:「龍袖拂開全體現,象王行處絕孤蹤。」師云:「非J40nB478_p0082a10汝境界。」乃云:「日可冷,月可熱,剔起眉毛看時節,大興J40nB478_p0082a11堂上打驢腰,火神廟裏流鮮血,燈籠露柱鬧啾啾,世J40nB478_p0082a12界山河齊漏洩,明明底事沒收藏,怎奈諸人不自瞥?J40nB478_p0082a13且道:如何是諸人瞥地處?還委悉麼?竹影掃階塵不J40nB478_p0082a14動,月穿波底水無痕。」
J40nB478_p0082a15上堂。僧問:「如何是太虛空未開口時消息?」師云:「特地J40nB478_p0082a16一場愁。」僧擬議,師便打,乃云:「未出雲天,腳跟已踏城J40nB478_p0082a17市;既住城市,腳跟猶在雲天。如是則醒者何多?昧者J40nB478_p0082a18何多?青天霹靂雨滂沱,潤澤焦土,滋溢佳禾,無邊草J40nB478_p0082a19木翠坪坡,農家鼓腹唱高歌。即今時康道泰一句作J40nB478_p0082a20麼生道?千溪萬壑歸滄海,四塞八蠻朝帝都。」
J40nB478_p0082a21上堂。僧纔禮拜,師便打,僧喝,師又打。問:「如何是目前J40nB478_p0082a22境?」師云:「遠觀山有色。」進云:「如何是境中人?」師云:「近聽J40nB478_p0082a23水無聲。」進云:「人境不立時如何?」師連棒打。進云:「棒頭J40nB478_p0082a24縱有真消息,也落時人第二機。」師復打,乃云:「有時晴,J40nB478_p0082a25有時雨,擬議思量,白雲萬里。老僧據令而行,各與三J40nB478_p0082a26十拄杖。何故?烜赫門庭,賞罰如此。」
J40nB478_p0082a27余夫人壽,請上堂。士問:「夫人誕日即不問,婆子燒菴J40nB478_p0082a28事若何?」師云:「不萌枝上自生春。」士作禮,師云:「錯。」乃云:J40nB478_p0082a29「欲賞蟠桃會,須從上苑遊,東方偷不去,留滯在枝頭,J40nB478_p0082a30信手拈相贈,和盤億萬秋。諸人要知蟠桃留滯麼?」以J40nB478_p0082b01拄杖卓一下,云:「一椎擊碎核,露盡裏頭仁。」
J40nB478_p0082b02上堂。僧問:「清淨本然云河,忽生山河大地。」師云:「珊瑚J40nB478_p0082b03枝枝撐著月。」進云:「特煞分明。」師一喝,僧擬議,師便打,J40nB478_p0082b04乃云:「打人不在拄杖子,說法不須三寸舌。既不須三J40nB478_p0082b05寸舌,機前水漉漉底是甚麼?既不在拄杖子,手中峭J40nB478_p0082b06巍巍底是甚麼?老僧恁麼說話,也是無風三尺浪。」喝J40nB478_p0082b07一喝,下座。
J40nB478_p0082b08住威清九龍山雲天禪寺,上堂。「有時天光地白,有時J40nB478_p0082b09雲驟月黑,恁麼也得、不恁麼也得,諸人向甚麼處覷J40nB478_p0082b10老僧聻?」以拂子打圓相,云:「饒他縱有僧繇手,難寫中J40nB478_p0082b11心樹子株。」
J40nB478_p0082b12上堂。「雲簑雨笠泛虛舟,手把絲綸放直鉤,雖在江干J40nB478_p0082b13煙浪裏,錦麟未遇不甘休。大眾!忽然釣得時又作麼J40nB478_p0082b14生?興雲佈雨,倒嶽傾湫。」
J40nB478_p0082b15安定侯城璧馬居士請就麥新太平禪院結制,上堂。J40nB478_p0082b16師詣法座,云:「三賢十聖貶向一邊,百怪千妖一齊踏J40nB478_p0082b17殺,十方同聚,海眾雲臻,卻為甚麼?」喝一喝,遂陞。
J40nB478_p0082b18拈香,云:「此一瓣香,幹旋天地,不逐時凋,爇向爐中,祝J40nB478_p0082b19延今上J40nB478_p0082b20皇帝萬歲萬歲萬萬歲,欽願聖明愈日月,靄瑞色以礪J40nB478_p0082b21山河,至德覆乾坤,蕩恩波而沐芻狗。此一瓣香,塞滿J40nB478_p0082b22虛空,不容擬議,爇向爐中,供養三世諸佛、歷代祖師。J40nB478_p0082b23此一瓣香,稟正氣生成,遇良時輻輳,爇向爐中,奉為J40nB478_p0082b24滿朝文武、闔國公卿洎本省當道尊官,伏願常為末J40nB478_p0082b25世津梁,永作中流砥柱。此一瓣香,和風遍地,英氣逼J40nB478_p0082b26人,爇向爐中,奉為請主城璧馬居士並現前縉紳士J40nB478_p0082b27庶,伏願旃檀林裏純是旃檀,皎月殿中無非皎月。此J40nB478_p0082b28一瓣香,曾經大冶紅爐一椎粉碎,爇向爐中,供養本J40nB478_p0082b29師破山大和尚,伏願世世以白棒打人,不存佛祖窠J40nB478_p0082b30臼。」斂衣就坐。僧問:「向上一路,千聖不傳,拄杖子從何J40nB478_p0082c01得來?」師劈脊便打。進云:「鐵蛇橫古路又作麼生過?」師J40nB478_p0082c02云:「喪身也不知。」僧擬議,師復打,乃云:「南瞻部洲上堂,J40nB478_p0082c03北鬱單越打鼓,驚起大梵天王,不敢釘樁搖櫓,磚頭J40nB478_p0082c04土塊運騰騰,世界山河齊作舞,四川蜀、湖廣楚、江西J40nB478_p0082c05福建、山東魯,渺茫秪在一毫端,徹底掀翻總不許。既J40nB478_p0082c06是徹底掀翻,因甚又不許?太平日月無今古,信手拈J40nB478_p0082c07來照覆盆。」擲拂子,下座。
J40nB478_p0082c08上堂。僧問:「大事未明時如何?」師云:「芍藥花開菩薩面。」J40nB478_p0082c09進云:「已明時如何?」師云:「棕櫚葉散夜叉頭。」進云:「明與J40nB478_p0082c10未明時如何?」師便打,乃云:「十五已前記得他人,忘卻J40nB478_p0082c11自己;十五已後記得自己,忘卻他人。正當十五日,正J40nB478_p0082c12令全施,鋒鋩不犯,擬議則膠頭滯尾;直饒不恁麼,未J40nB478_p0082c13免喚鐘作甕。諸仁者!正當恁麼時又且如何商量?」良J40nB478_p0082c14久,云:「老僧今日身疲倦,明日從容舉似君。」下座。
J40nB478_p0082c15佛誕日,上堂。「未離兜率,已降皇宮;未出母胎,度人已J40nB478_p0082c16畢。且喜昨夜碓觜花開,天明石臼饒舌,便道:『世尊不J40nB478_p0082c17為先,老僧不為後,古今無間時,風月仍依舊,諸人較J40nB478_p0082c18短長,早已不唧溜。』是事且止,大眾還知世尊安身立J40nB478_p0082c19命處麼?鴛鴦繡出從君看,不把金針度與人。」
J40nB478_p0082c20公省熊居士為母諱日,請上堂。僧問:「熊公之母即今J40nB478_p0082c21在什麼處?」師云:「何處不逢渠?」進云:「因甚不見?」師云:「覷J40nB478_p0082c22著即瞎。」僧禮拜,師便打,乃云:「無分大造,悉露全題。壽J40nB478_p0082c23長壽短兮,清風颯颯;處常處變兮,明月遲遲。雲翻雨J40nB478_p0082c24覆日沉鹵,睡覺還同蝴蝶兒。今日是公省居士母遇J40nB478_p0082c25難委形之日,令人子不能無風木之悲、水源之慕。正J40nB478_p0082c26恁麼時,還識熊公母子相見處麼?」以拂子打圓相,云:J40nB478_p0082c27「曉風颯颯垂青韻,暮雨疏疏點白波。」公係明翰林。
J40nB478_p0082c28住新添陽寶山,闔山耆宿請上堂。「不參禪,不學道,脫J40nB478_p0082c29去𦆆纖,掃除舊套,眼睜睜地絕商量,口巴巴地說不J40nB478_p0082c30到。直饒說得到,也是魯人獵較,老僧亦獵較。」遂以拄J40nB478_p0083a01杖劃一劃,云:「如王寶劍隨王用,不犯鋒鋩始大奇。」
J40nB478_p0083a02上堂。僧問:「德山棒、臨濟喝,未審利害在什麼處?」師便J40nB478_p0083a03打,僧禮拜,師云:「莫妄承當。」乃云:「棒如雨點,喝似雷奔,J40nB478_p0083a04銅睛鐵眼,不辨疏親,劈面相逢明舉示,拍盲禪治野J40nB478_p0083a05狐。」僧擊禪床,下座。
J40nB478_p0083a06都勻府觀音寺,上堂。「長年不出戶,著領破襤衫。側見J40nB478_p0083a07木欄徑,青禽喙翠斑。內有一句子,若人緇素得出,一J40nB478_p0083a08生大事了畢。脫或不然,聽取老僧注腳。舉一不得舉J40nB478_p0083a09二,放過一著,畢竟落在什麼處?參!」
J40nB478_p0083a10上堂。「十字街頭,撞頭磕額;曲彔床上,懸羊賣狗。有甚J40nB478_p0083a11憑據?」豎拂子,云:「若向這裏透得,一簣之土出自泰山,J40nB478_p0083a12與泰山齊高;一滴之水投于巨海,與巨海無二。倘或J40nB478_p0083a13擬議,一片白雲橫谷口,許多歸鳥盡迷巢。」
J40nB478_p0083a14甕安縣草堂沐曇寺,上堂。「眉毛橫,脊梁豎,說東說西J40nB478_p0083a15無異路。拈條白棒慣打人,打出禍來全不顧。河漢沍J40nB478_p0083a16而不寒,太山巍而獨步。且道據個甚麼?咄!百千三昧J40nB478_p0083a17一毫端,無量法門指柏樹。」
J40nB478_p0083a18甕安縣圓通禪院,上堂。舉:「古德云:『圓通不開生藥舖,J40nB478_p0083a19單單秪賣死貓頭,不知那箇無私算,喫著通身冷汗J40nB478_p0083a20流。』今日新圓通則不然,生藥舖也開、死貓頭也賣,無J40nB478_p0083a21論私算、不私算,直教哮吼一聲,壁立萬仞。且道與古J40nB478_p0083a22人還有優劣也無?」以拄杖卓一卓,云:「換骨洗腸重整J40nB478_p0083a23頓,須知入水見長人。」
慶陽王馮檀越請至平越府福泉禪院結制,上堂。師J40nB478_p0083a25詣法座,以拄杖卓一下,云:「擊碎呂洞賓燒丹鼎,掀翻J40nB478_p0083a26張邋遢禮斗案。」于洞賓亭內設座,右有三丰禮斗亭。遂陞座,拈香,云:「此J40nB478_p0083a27一瓣香,澤被群黎,普薰列國,爇向爐中,祝延今上J40nB478_p0083a28皇帝聖躬萬歲、萬歲、萬萬歲、太子千秋,滿朝文武高增J40nB478_p0083a29祿位;此一瓣香,堅固匪金,中藏不息,爇向爐中,奉為J40nB478_p0083a30請主馮檀越以善濟人,歌謠頌德;此一瓣香,易見難J40nB478_p0083b01知,相忘不逆,爇向爐中,供養本師破山大和尚。」斂衣J40nB478_p0083b02就座。僧問:「昔日文殊白椎,世尊下座;今日維那白椎,J40nB478_p0083b03和尚又作麼生?」師震威一喝,僧亦喝,師便打,乃云:「慶J40nB478_p0083b04陽檀越請老僧陞座,轉根本法輪。機本法輪作麼生J40nB478_p0083b05轉?」驀拈拄杖,云:「向這裏識得這段受用,耀古騰今,本J40nB478_p0083b06來具足。所以道:不立一法,尚設程途;脫體無依,猶存J40nB478_p0083b07知解。秪得淨裸裸絕承當、赤灑灑無回互,亦未是衲J40nB478_p0083b08僧巴鼻。且如何是衲僧巴鼻?」參頭出眾,撫掌一下。師J40nB478_p0083b09顧侍者,云:「這僧巴鼻雖有,卻在老僧手裏。」維那白椎,J40nB478_p0083b10云:「諦觀法王法,法王法如是。」師卓拄杖,下座。
J40nB478_p0083b11太守楊護法請上堂。「識風鼓動㠟峨走,一根拄杖不J40nB478_p0083b12離手,昨日曾打慶陽王,今朝又打楊太守,直教赤尾J40nB478_p0083b13化成龍,不許金毛變作狗。」良久,顧眾云:「會麼?靈山付J40nB478_p0083b14囑記當時,今日忘之劈脊摟。」卓拄杖一下,下座。
J40nB478_p0083b15上堂。「鏡裏花,水底月,看得分明取不得。既是看得分J40nB478_p0083b16明,因甚取不得?向來枉費推移力,此日中流自在行。」
J40nB478_p0083b17上堂。「寥寥大道,千聖不傳。步步長安,千聖不然。平安J40nB478_p0083b18竹榻伴雲眠,正當恁麼時,汝等向甚處與老僧相見?」J40nB478_p0083b19良久,云:「相識滿天下,知心能幾人?」
J40nB478_p0083b20上堂。「無量法門頻舉出,百千三昧就中觀。花簇簇,境J40nB478_p0083b21攢攢,秪是無容正眼看,看得圓全少半邊。既是圓全,J40nB478_p0083b22因甚少半邊?下坡不走,快便難逢。」
J40nB478_p0083b23上堂。「猿跳圈,狗踏碓,習染成風寧有類?一自兒童見J40nB478_p0083b24過來,竟到而今總不會。終日如癡復如醉,有人問道J40nB478_p0083b25指門簾,悶則顰眉倦則睡。」
J40nB478_p0083b26上堂。「古佛不揚眉,高真解點首,烏龜撞著蛇,攔腰咬J40nB478_p0083b27一口。痛殺呂純陽,三丰特地走,帶累都綱司,向外揚J40nB478_p0083b28家醜。老僧拄杖赤條條,打起金毛遍地吼。眾中果有J40nB478_p0083b29獅子兒麼?」良久,云:「千山勢到嶽邊止,萬派聲歸海上J40nB478_p0083b30消。」
J40nB478_p0083c01上堂。「在儒習儒,在佛學佛,動止施為,水足草足。百千J40nB478_p0083c02萬劫只如斯,用盡神通跳不出。直饒跳得出,鳥倦還J40nB478_p0083c03歸樹裏宿。」
J40nB478_p0083c04上堂。「捲起簾,見天地,更有紅輪光燦席。將東籬,補西J40nB478_p0083c05壁,今日猶然是昨日。有時拈出吹毛劍,萬壑千峰血J40nB478_p0083c06滴滴。諸仁者!且道利害在什麼處?」良久,起身,云:「參。」
J40nB478_p0083c07臘八,上堂。云:「世尊昨夜睹明星,大地眾生眼著楔,天J40nB478_p0083c08明撞著黑金剛,伸手摸來原是鐵,冷冰冰地暫時閒,J40nB478_p0083c09切忌抱贓須教徹。徹不徹?咄!瞎眼老婆已漏洩。」
J40nB478_p0083c10上堂。「朝打三千,暮打八百,不作佛法商量,免得引鬼J40nB478_p0083c11入宅。眾中還有與麼人麼?出來道看。如無,來年更有J40nB478_p0083c12新條在,惱亂春風卒未休。」
J40nB478_p0083c13解制,上堂。「過去已過去,未來猶未來,即今渾無事,不J40nB478_p0083c14用巧安排。君不見,青芙蕖,火裏開,湖南湖北人無數,J40nB478_p0083c15且道何人被活埋?」喝一喝,下座。
J40nB478_p0083c16住湖廣武岡州雲山勝力禪寺,郡守吳諱從謙暨鄉J40nB478_p0083c17紳士庶、闔山耆宿請結制,上堂。僧問:「雲山高萬丈即J40nB478_p0083c18不問,如何是西來意旨?」師云:「百草頭上罷干戈。」進云:J40nB478_p0083c19「恁麼則九年面壁,一場狼藉。」師云:「未到盡驚山嶮峻,J40nB478_p0083c20由來方識路高低。」進云:「男兒自有沖霄志,不向他人J40nB478_p0083c21行處行。」師云:「吾不如汝。」僧一喝,師便打,乃云:「歷盡名J40nB478_p0083c22巒六十三,依稀十里望中看,有人問道當年事,浪子J40nB478_p0083c23偏憐去復還。青山仍舊,綠水猶涓,中分一派瀉曹湍,J40nB478_p0083c24驗盡遊人萬萬千。」以拄杖卓一卓,云:「棒頭擊碎盧侯J40nB478_p0083c25鼎,不許時人慕煉丹。」
J40nB478_p0083c26上堂。僧問:「有句無句,如藤倚樹時如何?」師云:「不離者J40nB478_p0083c27裏。」進云:「樹倒藤枯,句歸何處?」師云:「不因紫陌花開早,J40nB478_p0083c28怎得黃鶯下柳條?」僧擬進語,師便喝,乃云:「雨灑青松,J40nB478_p0083c29煙籠翠竹,說甚杳杳冥冥、恍恍忽忽?一條破布袋,貯J40nB478_p0083c30著魔與佛。眾中如有恁麼人,出來為他解交看;若無,J40nB478_p0084a01山僧為他解交去也。」遂打散,歸方丈。

J40nB478_p0084a06謝雲昌為母六旬壽,請上堂。「六月初一滿六十,再添J40nB478_p0084a07六十滿初一,從頭至尾轉如環,直饒巧曆算不及,平J40nB478_p0084a08生善惡沒些些,地獄天堂總不識,十方世界縱橫行,J40nB478_p0084a09一顆明珠照不息,爍破三千及大千,直至如今赤骨J40nB478_p0084a10律。」擲拂子,下座。
J40nB478_p0084a11上堂。「俊鷂掣天飛,磨盤空裏走。撞著舜若多,塞卻虛J40nB478_p0084a12空口。老僧倒騎佛殿出山門,拄杖逢人劈脊摟。還有J40nB478_p0084a13識痛癢者麼?出來證據看。箇中若是挐雲客,自然平J40nB478_p0084a14地起風雷。」
J40nB478_p0084a15淳素道人為母六旬壽,請上堂。「今日二十一,虛空暫J40nB478_p0084a16打失,因循六十秋,猶然是今日,以此卜當來,算到何J40nB478_p0084a17年訖?枝梗長,葉子密,蟠桃千顆甜如蜜,信手拈來誰J40nB478_p0084a18解嘗?等閒觸碎娘生鼻。娘生鼻,九九還歸八十一。」擲J40nB478_p0084a19拄杖,下座。
J40nB478_p0084a20上堂。「平平坦坦,磊磊落落,說則不聞,聞則不說。高山J40nB478_p0084a21流水,歷歷希音;下里巴歌,明明雅頌。石頭土塊語喃J40nB478_p0084a22喃,揭示諸人莫輕觸。要會麼?山河及大地,全露法王J40nB478_p0084a23身。」下座。
J40nB478_p0084a24上堂。「日面月面,萬仞壁立。許多悟者黑漆漆,許多迷J40nB478_p0084a25者明歷歷。秪如不涉迷悟又如何舉似?」卓拄杖,喝一J40nB478_p0084a26喝,下座。
J40nB478_p0084a27上堂。「或時風,或時雪,大冶紅爐分外熱,觸之則燎卻J40nB478_p0084a28面門,背之則寒毛卓豎。不觸不背,正當恁麼時如何J40nB478_p0084a29委悉?」震威一喝,云:「雖然舊閣閒田地,一度嬴來方始J40nB478_p0084a30休。」
J40nB478_p0084b01上堂。「雨過檐前濕,雲生地上陰。青山門白畫,大夢卻J40nB478_p0084b02惺惺。浩浩人間事,拈來著著新。何須更向西方覓,是J40nB478_p0084b03金從來不博金。」
J40nB478_p0084b04上堂。「今朝二十五,露佈雲門普。蝦蟆蚯蚓運神通,糞J40nB478_p0084b05箕苕帚吞佛祖。」顧視左右,云:「是運神通?是吞佛祖?」良J40nB478_p0084b06久,云:「流螢徒去燒空月,狡兔休來撼野樁。」
J40nB478_p0084b07說戒,示眾。「夫戒者,非抑按隄防之謂也,直須透徹源J40nB478_p0084b08底,執情自然放下,方纔省力。如要隄防抑按,正若繫J40nB478_p0084b09馬而止,未免奔突尤甚,致使戒而不定、定而不慧。今J40nB478_p0084b10勝力惟取見地明白,則無往而非戒、無往而非定、無J40nB478_p0084b11往而非慧也。故佛說一切法,為度一切心;我無一切J40nB478_p0084b12心,安用一切法?則自己受用、現前受用。既而現前,即J40nB478_p0084b13知本無取捨,不落染汙;本不散亂,寧趣定境?本不愚J40nB478_p0084b14癡,慧名何有?是則持犯冰消、定慧不立,乃諸佛諸祖J40nB478_p0084b15之密旨,便是諸人本來清淨矣。河沙妙用秪在毛端,J40nB478_p0084b16不二法門隨處解脫,時不待人,各宜努力。珍重。」
J40nB478_p0084b17解制,上堂。「去年始,今年末,就裏鉗鎚分外惡,饒他四J40nB478_p0084b18面縱橫來,百拶千錐不放過。」以拄杖卓一卓,云:「把住J40nB478_p0084b19牢關,起眠象之威獰。」復劃一劃,云:「截斷眾流,躍遊龍J40nB478_p0084b20之活鱍。還知利害處麼?」眾無語,師云:「禹力不到處,河J40nB478_p0084b21聲流向西。」
J40nB478_p0084b22雲濟峰,上堂。「青螺澤畔,雲濟峰頭,經霜歷雪,不記春J40nB478_p0084b23秋,吞雲吐霧,全放全收。雖然,秪如把斷要津一句作J40nB478_p0084b24麼生道?佛祖道中行異路,森羅影裏不留蹤。」
J40nB478_p0084b25上堂。「無邊剎海,間不容針。十世古今,一齊坐斷。到者J40nB478_p0084b26裏始可任運騰騰,隨分飲啄。看草木山川,篆不雕不J40nB478_p0084b27琢之文;聞鳥語花香,說無滅無生之法。豈不是一員J40nB478_p0084b28脫脫灑灑的無事道人?倘若躊躇,分明月在梅梢上,J40nB478_p0084b29看到梅梢早已遲。」
J40nB478_p0084b30臘八,上堂。「不住皇宮為太子,六年苦行雪山中,夜半J40nB478_p0084c01睹星稱悟了,天明依舊水淙淙。大眾!還知瞿曇老子J40nB478_p0084c02底落處麼?」良久,云:「十成好箇金剛鑽,鋪向階前賣與J40nB478_p0084c03誰?」下座。
J40nB478_p0084c04上堂。舉:「淨極光通達,寂照含虛空。卻來觀世間,猶如J40nB478_p0084c05夢中事。世尊恁麼說話,正是無夢說夢。且道那裏是J40nB478_p0084c06無夢說夢處?若揀點得出,許你具一隻眼;若揀點不J40nB478_p0084c07出,也許你具一隻眼。何也?向道是龍剛不信,有朝奪J40nB478_p0084c08得錦標歸。」
J40nB478_p0084c09如是菴,上堂。「如是來,如是住,如是聞聲如是悟,一法J40nB478_p0084c10既歸源,大方任闊步。」卓拄杖一下,云:「諸人還聞麼?若J40nB478_p0084c11道聞,孤負老僧;若道不聞,孤負自己。諸人畢竟在甚J40nB478_p0084c12麼處歸源?」良久,云:「日短夜長休把火,大家吹滅暗中J40nB478_p0084c13行。」下座。
J40nB478_p0084c14金臺山,上堂。「金臺不是閒飄瓦,劈面相逢劈面打,不J40nB478_p0084c15是學者打堂頭,便是堂頭打學者。大眾!且道是賓主J40nB478_p0084c16互換,各出手眼?若道是賓主互換,則埋沒老僧;若道J40nB478_p0084c17不是賓主互換,手眼又在甚麼處?」一僧擊桌一下,師J40nB478_p0084c18云:「也知你分疏不下。」僧便喝,師云:「猶自不甘在。」僧停J40nB478_p0084c19思,師打云:「休將閒學解,埋沒祖師心。」下座。
J40nB478_p0084c20南嶽九龍盆,上堂。「五五二十五,六六三十六。溪西雞J40nB478_p0084c21齊啼,屋北鹿獨宿。閫外有威權,臨時看出沒。若能會J40nB478_p0084c22得,自然辨魔揀異,坐斷諸方舌頭。倘若東卜西卜,老J40nB478_p0084c23僧與你決斷去也。」以拂子拂一拂,下座。
J40nB478_p0084c24上堂。「進前一步大過,退後一步不及。雖知箭未離弦,J40nB478_p0084c25早已中的伶俐。衲僧有口,切忌掛壁。不掛壁,無孔鐵J40nB478_p0084c26鎚當面擲。」
J40nB478_p0084c27梅坪聖林寺,上堂。僧問:「如何是十字街頭接人句?」師J40nB478_p0084c28云:「嶮。」進云:「泥裏達磨、水裏羅漢,不涉泥水又作麼生?」J40nB478_p0084c29師云:「露。」僧禮拜,師乃云:「老僧五十有五,養得一頭水J40nB478_p0084c30牯,終日拖犁拽耙,未免有些辛苦,慣犯人家苗稼、慣J40nB478_p0085a01踐人家田土。即今過犯彌天,又來喝佛罵祖,且道據J40nB478_p0085a02箇甚麼?一番皮袋全無力,倒臥橫眠塞太虛。」
J40nB478_p0085a03楚武攸青螺山楞嚴寺,上堂。「決於南嶽行,誰知尚萍J40nB478_p0085a04梗。連路少盤纏,出賣大佛頂。其價亦不增,售者亦不J40nB478_p0085a05損。賣與眾位們,袛要還我本。差了一絲毫,彼此自不J40nB478_p0085a06肯。大眾且道:那裏是絲毫不差處?」眾著語,師云:「冬日J40nB478_p0085a07固是寒,下雨覺更冷。」
J40nB478_p0085a08上堂。「道由心悟,豈假外求?法絕見聞,言銓罔及。釋迦J40nB478_p0085a09老子無可奈何,歷代祖師計無所出。今日聊通個消J40nB478_p0085a10息。」擲下拄杖,曰:「大眾會麼?客來無茶點,蒿湯當禮儀。」J40nB478_p0085a11下座。
J40nB478_p0085a12孫居士生辰,請上堂。云:「生在河南住西蜀,一年一度J40nB478_p0085a13為君祝,靈苗發處見根源,枝枝觸碎虛空骨。不惟報J40nB478_p0085a14父母深恩,亦乃破無明窠窟,壽不假延而並嵩高,福J40nB478_p0085a15不假資還同海闊。撿點將來,猶是拗直作曲。」時有僧J40nB478_p0085a16呵呵大笑,師以手作掩口勢,云:「合取狗口。」拽拄杖,下J40nB478_p0085a17座。
獅子林小參
J40nB478_p0085a19師揮拂,云:「痛棒熱喝,使人直下透脫,光揚祖道,助發J40nB478_p0085a20無為,已是祖師門下第一等拖泥帶水。為人須是個J40nB478_p0085a21性燥漢,識盡情忘,向裏許承當,始不落人窠臼,亦不J40nB478_p0085a22坐在淨裸裸處。一出頭來,自有透關眼、截流機,如天J40nB478_p0085a23普蓋、似地普擎,直饒具眼英靈,亦跳他爐韝不出;設J40nB478_p0085a24使跳得出,早被他捉敗了也。諸兄弟!果能如是性燥、J40nB478_p0085a25如是承當、如是透徹也未?苟或未然,莫道為人,自為J40nB478_p0085a26不了。不見夾山未遇人時,記持一肚佛法,卻被道吾J40nB478_p0085a27勘破指去。華亭船子纔見,便問:『大德住甚麼寺?』夾云:J40nB478_p0085a28『似即不住,住即不似。』子云:『不似又不似個什麼?』夾云:J40nB478_p0085a29『不是目前法。』子云:『甚處學得來?』夾云:『非耳日之所到。』J40nB478_p0085a30子云:『一句合頭語,千載繫驢橛。』船子雖與他忉忉怛J40nB478_p0085b01怛,秪要識他病痛,然後錐拶,末後向一句下果然截J40nB478_p0085b02斷,故又問:『垂絲千尺,意在深潭;離鉤三寸,子何不道?』J40nB478_p0085b03好一拶,夾山直得口啞,子便一篙打落水中。夾纔上J40nB478_p0085b04船,子云:『道!道!』夾擬開口,子又打。夾於此有省,乃自點J40nB478_p0085b05頭。豈不是向裏許承當,不落窠臼底樣子?子云:『竿頭J40nB478_p0085b06絲線從君弄,不犯清波意自殊。』豈不是教他莫坐在J40nB478_p0085b07淨裸裸處?夾又問:『拋絲擲釣,師意何如?』子云:『絲懸綠J40nB478_p0085b08水,浮定有無之意。』夾云:『語帶玄而無路,舌頭談而不J40nB478_p0085b09談。』豈不是具透關眼,用截流機?子云:『釣盡江波,金鱗J40nB478_p0085b10始遇。』可謂一句全收。夾乃掩耳,方得穩當。子云:『如是!J40nB478_p0085b11如是!』以至叮嚀囑託,覆舟而逝。看他古人得人而忘J40nB478_p0085b12軀,真千古龜鑑。諸兄弟既未曾如夾山點頭一番,二J40nB478_p0085b13六時中必須反覆參詳,直須參到無下手處、無開口J40nB478_p0085b14處,忽地打破漆桶,亦不禁頭之自點,與他夾山把手J40nB478_p0085b15共行,不負獅林集會一場。莫看今人榜樣,當以古人J40nB478_p0085b16自勵,不患大事不明。若再依稀放過,虛消信施,閻老J40nB478_p0085b17子算飯錢有日在。仲冬嚴寒,勿勞久立。」
J40nB478_p0085b18小參。師云:「終日說,未嘗說;終日不說,未嘗不說。意在J40nB478_p0085b19宗、說兩通,互相挽救,此病僧意也。須知有宗、有說,競J40nB478_p0085b20起爭端;宗通、說通,當處懸解。然非直下凝然、迥無依J40nB478_p0085b21倚者,又安能領旨?既不領旨,而欲明宗通、說通,反落J40nB478_p0085b22在宗說上論量,便互相彼此亦無足怪。何也?譬如《神J40nB478_p0085b23農誌》:『百草雖異,同於療病;病之不療,百草何咎?』聖人J40nB478_p0085b24立教不同,同於悟道;道之不悟,聖教無損。雖然,大林J40nB478_p0085b25中固有不材之木,以不材非材,材者自若;萬畝中必J40nB478_p0085b26有不實之苗,以不實毀實,實者怡然。且宗、教二門如J40nB478_p0085b27大海波瀾,原無同異,但消歸大海,則自受用中不餘J40nB478_p0085b28一法、不剩一法,蕩然坦平,何處更有宗說之跡與人J40nB478_p0085b29彼此?以此為人,寧不謂之互相挽救?以見三教聖人J40nB478_p0085b30立教之本懷固如是也。如孔子之教,開口便道天命J40nB478_p0085c01之謂性三句,卻與釋教三身圓顯之理符合,則知孔J40nB478_p0085c02子宗說之通無異於釋。韓文公,儒門碩士,未悟之前J40nB478_p0085c03亦有誹佛之論,出自偶然,非具灼見。後見大顛,一日J40nB478_p0085c04白顛云:『弟子軍州事繁,佛法省要處乞師一語。』顛良J40nB478_p0085c05久,公罔措。時三平為侍者,乃敲禪床三下,顛云:『作麼?』J40nB478_p0085c06平云:『先以定動,後以智拔。』公如是有省,乃云:『和尚門J40nB478_p0085c07風高峻,弟子於侍者邊得箇入處。』始皈投門下,則向J40nB478_p0085c08往誹佛之疑既決,目前無佛受用相當。可見知到是J40nB478_p0085c09處,方知非處,而是非瓦解。今時儒者猶然藉文公為J40nB478_p0085c10口實,然識見未必似文公豁達、慕道未必似文公誠J40nB478_p0085c11切,徒知非教,終不知非教之非,則後之明儒教而不J40nB478_p0085c12明理盡性者,乃昌黎之罪人也。道家宗老子為正,老J40nB478_p0085c13子著清淨、道德二經,亦不外宗說皆通之旨,而何道J40nB478_p0085c14者不知老子是何面目,卒流於旁門異術。如洞賓者,J40nB478_p0085c15道門之杰士也,亦溺於採補吐納,修煉中自不知非,J40nB478_p0085c16逮見黃龍從一喝了然,乃云:『棄卻瓢囊摵碎琴,從今J40nB478_p0085c17不煉汞中金。自從一見黃龍後,始信從前錯用心。』至J40nB478_p0085c18今稱為呂祖。世之有明道教而不修真養性者,又呂J40nB478_p0085c19祖之罪人也。如我釋迦老子,三乘演教四十九年是J40nB478_p0085c20說通,末後拈花迦葉契旨便是宗通,而阿難在側,竟J40nB478_p0085c21不知宗說之所以。逮世尊以正法眼藏、涅槃妙心付J40nB478_p0085c22囑摩訶迦葉,世尊滅後,復問迦葉:『世尊傳金襴袈裟J40nB478_p0085c23外,更傳個什麼?』迦葉喚阿難,阿難應諾,方始瞥地。則J40nB478_p0085c24四十九年強記多聞,於說通不獲契證,卻被迦葉一J40nB478_p0085c25喚,於宗通上身心圓明,獲大無礙。則世之明釋教而J40nB478_p0085c26不明心見性者,又阿難之罪人。所以病僧道:終日說,J40nB478_p0085c27未嘗說,故不蹈阿難之覆轍;終日不說,未嘗不說,更J40nB478_p0085c28不墮舜若之空沉。則宗通、說通之旨,非獨挽道眼者J40nB478_p0085c29之圓明,亦痛救迷倒者之慣習。三教之立,殊途同歸,J40nB478_p0085c30古今輪轉,互相濟拔,其主持世道人心何時得已?縱J40nB478_p0086a01使有不知而妄為是非,亦空裏塵霾,豈能掩輝天鑑J40nB478_p0086a02地之杲日乎?是事且置,秪如教外別傳一著,更落在J40nB478_p0086a03什麼處?」以拄杖卓一卓,云:「從來無位次,不用強安排。」
晚參
J40nB478_p0086a05臘八日,晚參。師云:「南斗作怪,卻是北斗成精。」驀拈拄J40nB478_p0086a06杖,云:「斬新條令沒人情,築瞎瞿曇正眼睛,直得地暗J40nB478_p0086a07天昏,不知那箇解呻嚬?眾中還有踞地獅子麼?出來J40nB478_p0086a08試弄爪牙看。如無,老僧為諸人雪屈去也。」卓杖,云:「龍J40nB478_p0086a09袖拂開全體現,象王行處絕狐蹤。」便下座。
J40nB478_p0086a10示眾。師云:「松直棘曲,鵠白烏黑,觸目現前,何曾隱匿?J40nB478_p0086a11得不得,明月蘆花堪作則,緇素分明便撕,當宗門做J40nB478_p0086a12箇白拈。賊賊賊賊,急急如律令敕。」
J40nB478_p0086a13晚參。一僧取號緝燈,師乃云:「今夜是上元節令,家家J40nB478_p0086a14燈燭輝煌,因以為號,不特汝一人要緝此光明,凡在J40nB478_p0086a15會者人人俱要緝此光明。然此段光明無斷無續,為J40nB478_p0086a16甚麼說箇緝底道理?總為諸人不知自己放身捨命J40nB478_p0086a17處,故錯過從上諸祖透脫一著。若知得自己透脫一J40nB478_p0086a18著,便會得從上諸祖放身捨命處,則千聖不傳一脈,J40nB478_p0086a19豈待人提?二六時中自有常光現前,說甚麼緝與不J40nB478_p0086a20緝?眾中如有辦得底,為眾證據看;如無,老僧為汝等J40nB478_p0086a21緝此光明去也。」驀拈拄杖,云:「手執夜明符,幾個知天J40nB478_p0086a22曉?」復卓一卓,云:「委悉麼?脫或未委,更聽老僧一偈:人J40nB478_p0086a23間此夜鬧元宵,惟我山中更寂寥,那箇曾知燈是火?J40nB478_p0086a24頂𩕳不負兩莖毛。」
J40nB478_p0086a25示眾。云:「不管工夫做不做,目前但要有條路,分明舉J40nB478_p0086a26起令人知,便是最初下腳處。」以拄杖卓一卓,云:「還知J40nB478_p0086a27下腳處麼?今日老僧將十方諸佛法藏一向人所未J40nB478_p0086a28見底徹底掀翻,又將十方諸佛舌頭人所說不到底J40nB478_p0086a29盡情道出,向者裏還有會得底麼?會得也與三十棒,J40nB478_p0086a30會不得也與三十棒,莫道老僧償罰不明。」便下座。
