晦岳旭禪師語錄卷第一
序
J38nB418_p0495a02初祖西來,不立語言文字,以語J38nB418_p0495a03言文字求向上一著,便非西來J38nB418_p0495a04大意矣。自五宗衍派,不能終J38nB418_p0495a05於無言,遂或彙之為傳燈,專J38nB418_p0495a06之為語錄,名異實同,然鉗錘轟J38nB418_p0495a07辣,宗風猶未少降也。沿及今日,生J38nB418_p0495a08初祖千餘年後,不知千餘年來J38nB418_p0495a09未開之面目,妄襲是非毀譽之J38nB418_p0495a10跡,搖唇鼓舌,標榜宗門,其淆訛何J38nB418_p0495a11所窮極?今讀我J38nB418_p0495a12師晦翁語錄,與初祖西來大意,燈J38nB418_p0495a13燈相印,洵宗門之證諦,人天之法幢J38nB418_p0495a14也。師自梵參學,長而弘法,遠近若J38nB418_p0495a15京口之甘露、聖果,與檇李之金明、J38nB418_p0495b01楞嚴、三塔、真如諸剎,皆其鍛鍊J38nB418_p0495b02聖凡處。其間一上堂、一小參,機鋒J38nB418_p0495b03銛銳,勘辨明確,無假借、無回互,古J38nB418_p0495b04臨濟、周金剛莫之過矣。然且刻苦J38nB418_p0495b05內行,終夜趺坐,正如無量主夜之神,J38nB418_p0495b06照十方於不絕。嘉炎少搜佛乘,長J38nB418_p0495b07而浮沉,無悟因證地,可著見於文字。J38nB418_p0495b08及歸田而獲叩師座下,聆宗語之提J38nB418_p0495b09唱,如飢者之得食,合掌歡欣,莫可J38nB418_p0495b10名狀。昔黃檗以三頓毒捧,大啟濟J38nB418_p0495b11宗,今師拈提宗要,烹煆一時龍象,J38nB418_p0495b12其一片婆心,詎可埋沒?用是登之剞J38nB418_p0495b13劂,照耀昏衢,則師之語言文字,即J38nB418_p0495b14師之機權殺奪也。然而師之真面目,究J38nB418_p0495b15不在是,敬述之以為序。

J38nB418_p0496c04康熙癸亥十月初三日進院。
J38nB418_p0496c05據室。「此是介師翁開大爐鞴、運大鉗鎚,生煆佛祖、活J38nB418_p0496c06烹龍象之所,三十年獨坐單提不動,本際魔軍自息。J38nB418_p0496c07新金明既為他兒孫,敢道跨灶騎鑪?」拈拄杖一卓,曰:J38nB418_p0496c08「任是銅頭鐵額到來,也須按過。」僧問:「和尚入院之初,J38nB418_p0496c09有何垂示?」師曰:「佛祖點額。」云:「斬新條令又如何?」師曰:J38nB418_p0496c10「喝起青天三十棒。」云:「秪如銅頭鐵額漢到來,如何勘J38nB418_p0496c11驗?」師便打,僧一喝,師直打出。又僧出,師亦打,僧纔開J38nB418_p0496c12口,師曰:「驢前馬後漢。」直棒打出。
J38nB418_p0496c13即日,上堂。「諸佛慧命,列祖心宗,覿面提持,一肩擔荷。J38nB418_p0496c14撾毒鼓于機前,振鴻鈞于未兆,顯出衲僧巴鼻,豁開J38nB418_p0496c15向上重關。此猶是古人行履,未是越格超宗。大眾會J38nB418_p0496c16麼?」驀拈拄杖,卓一卓,曰:「者裏會得,臨濟三玄、洞山五J38nB418_p0496c17位是甚麼閒家具?若欲克復嘉猷、挽回末運,直須一J38nB418_p0496c18踏鴻門開兩扇,雍雍佳氣樂寰區。」
J38nB418_p0496c19當晚,小參。「跨灶騎鑪,方稱作者;就中取則,有辱先宗。J38nB418_p0496c20若是獅子兒奮踞地威,縱有牙如劍樹、口似血盆,到J38nB418_p0496c21者裏不罄身而逃,則望崖而退。具恁般作略,方可全J38nB418_p0496c22提向上,直指真宗,捩轉乾坤,掀翻海岳,始見皇風成J38nB418_p0496c23一片,更於何處覓封疆?」
J38nB418_p0496c24示眾。僧問:「學人初參,請師指個徑路。」師曰:「此去杭州J38nB418_p0496c25二百二。」曰:「不問者個路。」師曰:「水陸不增多。」乃曰:「者著J38nB418_p0496c26子本自現成,是你無始習氣耽著不捨,日深日厚,轉J38nB418_p0496c27增顛倒,致使流浪迷途。若是血性漢,懸崖撒手,一撲J38nB418_p0496c28到底,待甦醒來,睜開眼另是一般境界。有恁麼人麼?」J38nB418_p0496c29良久,云:「啼得血流無用處,不如緘口過殘春。」
J38nB418_p0496c30示眾。「連朝風雨漫漫,聲聲郭外杜鵑,陶朱靜悄無事,J38nB418_p0497a01有時把釣龍潭。」拈拂子作釣勢,云:「誰識絲綸上,清香J38nB418_p0497a02意自殊。」
J38nB418_p0497a03端節,示眾。「今朝五月五,日輪大如斗,照破五須彌,舜J38nB418_p0497a04若顛倒走,驚起桃符神,撞破帝釋口。」拈拄杖作舞,云:J38nB418_p0497a05「山僧拄杖子忍俊不禁,隨例打筋斗。」喝一喝,曰:「住!住!J38nB418_p0497a06不可莽鹵。」
J38nB418_p0497a07示眾。「十五日已前,煙迷古渡。十五日已後,月映清溪。J38nB418_p0497a08正當十五日,青松棲白鶴,碧沼綻紅蓮。寒山子,知不J38nB418_p0497a09知?世情看冷暖,人面逐高低。」
J38nB418_p0497a10七夕,示眾。「今夜七月七,家家收巧喫,金風來樹杪,清J38nB418_p0497a11涼生兩腋。」拈拂子召眾曰:「看看,夏末便是秋初,已證J38nB418_p0497a12者宜須保護,未悟者猛著精彩,時節既到,其理自彰。J38nB418_p0497a13且作麼生是自彰的理?一片蠡湖波底月,巧雲穿作J38nB418_p0497a14花蝴蝶,等閒雲淨碧天寬,四海五湖光皎潔。」
J38nB418_p0497a15往建寧府普明寺,途中除歲示眾。「大盡三十日,小盡J38nB418_p0497a16二十九。東村王老化紙錢,衲僧鞋破赤腳走。無位真J38nB418_p0497a17人面門斑,踏殺南山白額虎。大地山河乞命,萬象森J38nB418_p0497a18羅叫苦。大眾還識無位真人麼?急須努力向前行,自J38nB418_p0497a19有東君隨步武。」
J38nB418_p0497a20到泉州府崇福寺,請上堂。「為訪知音涉閩巔,相逢喜J38nB418_p0497a21氣動崇山。波濤萬丈從天瀉,流出分明蠡水源。」拈杖J38nB418_p0497a22召眾,曰:「有者道:寸步不移,觀大千界如視諸掌。有者J38nB418_p0497a23道:不越戶閫,天下知識一時相見。檢點將來,多虛不J38nB418_p0497a24如少實。山僧披寒暑、涉山川,親到崇福與我希覺法J38nB418_p0497a25兄高談,不啻絕倒。今日客聽主裁,借令行權,與諸人J38nB418_p0497a26花劈去也。」卓杖一下,曰:「真寂湛圓,常光獨露。潔如滄J38nB418_p0497a27海之珠,朗似碧天之月。既高且堅,鑽仰莫及。者裏會J38nB418_p0497a28得,顯大機、發大用,豎放橫拈,無不自在。所以道:似地J38nB418_p0497a29擎山而不知孤峻,如石含玉而不知無瑕。且弟兄相J38nB418_p0497a30見的事又作麼生?」以杖畫[○@║]相,曰:「攜手同堂云底事,J38nB418_p0497b01無邊清韻動山河。」
J38nB418_p0497b02到建寧柘浦龍珍寺,覺圓法兄端節請上堂。拈拄杖J38nB418_p0497b03曰:「拄杖子𨁝跳上三十三天,撞著娑竭龍王,撲在金J38nB418_p0497b04剛際下,顛落帝釋花冠。毘沙門王報道:『恰是人間端J38nB418_p0497b05節日,天津橋上有此奇特。』未審諸人還見拄杖子落J38nB418_p0497b06處麼?山中有客見真虎,塵內何人識臥龍?」
J38nB418_p0497b07出隊歸,示眾。「住院理破垣,出隊頂破笠,計較總一般,J38nB418_p0497b08人生何改易?暑去寒來春復秋,光陰打算如瞬息。且J38nB418_p0497b09道無位真人還有改易麼?」拈拄杖,卓一卓,曰:「者裏會J38nB418_p0497b10得,一生參學事畢。」
J38nB418_p0497b11示眾。「金明雖處城市,實足山林意況。蠡水似鏡,雉堞J38nB418_p0497b12如山。篆竹漪然,風搖千竿翠色;青榆掩映,鳥翻萬樹J38nB418_p0497b13金錢。每對花晨月夜,優游絕勝人間。諸人既到者裏,J38nB418_p0497b14彼此切莫相瞞。一朝一夕,一月一年,直到大休大歇,J38nB418_p0497b15無事不辦。」
J38nB418_p0497b16示眾。「三十餘年住子胡,二時粥飯氣力粗,每日上山J38nB418_p0497b17三兩轉,問汝諸人會也無?子胡只住個院子,如此勞J38nB418_p0497b18筋動骨,太煞週遮。山僧則不然,自住金明四五年,是J38nB418_p0497b19非穿鑿不相干,饑則食,倦則眠,從來不會老婆禪。」
J38nB418_p0497b20示眾。「識得拄杖子,行腳事畢。汾陽與麼道,大似推人J38nB418_p0497b21落井。若向拄杖子上作活,錯過不少。」驀拈杖召眾曰:J38nB418_p0497b22「還識得麼?到江吳地盡,隔岸越山多。」
J38nB418_p0497b23示眾。「若論此事,實無下口處,金明只得向第二門與J38nB418_p0497b24諸人扭捏看。」驀搖手,云:「莫!莫!」
J38nB418_p0497b25示眾。「三塔塘之東,五龍橋之北,有個漁翁,髮白齒黑,J38nB418_p0497b26泛一葉扁舟,絲綸在握,有時隨放隨收,一任魚龍跳J38nB418_p0497b27躍。」拈拄杖作釣勢,云:「不是金鱗枉上鉤。」
J38nB418_p0497b28示眾。剛坐下便云:「早是錯了也。」便入方丈。一僧入問:J38nB418_p0497b29「和尚一言未發便道錯了,未審和尚錯?大眾錯?」師曰:J38nB418_p0497b30「你若識得者兩錯,粉骨碎身。」僧曰:「謝師證明。」師曰:「錯!J38nB418_p0497c01錯!錯!」
J38nB418_p0497c02立秋,示眾。「有則現成公案,諸人總知,只恐錯會。」良久,J38nB418_p0497c03擲下拂子,云:「一葉落,天下秋。」
J38nB418_p0497c04因事示眾。「法社垂秋,人不跟道,古佛地總為販賣賭J38nB418_p0497c05賻之所,說法處盡成葷酒淫污之場,或有一個半個J38nB418_p0497c06少奉戒行,便乃不合時宜。金明不是檢點諸方,只要J38nB418_p0497c07諸人知此利害,倘操道心深,自不蹈他故轍。諸仁者!J38nB418_p0497c08莫事門庭熱鬧,打哄過日,直須田地穩密,莫被情塵J38nB418_p0497c09惑動,朝夕精勤,惟道是務,莫到臨末梢頭做手腳,不J38nB418_p0497c10辦他時,悔之晚矣,莫言不道。」
J38nB418_p0497c11示眾。舉:「汾陽十智同真問答,徑山杲曰:『汾陽末後若J38nB418_p0497c12無個面目,現在一場敗缺。雖然如是,喪我兒孫。』喝一J38nB418_p0497c13喝。」師曰:「徑山多處添,少處減。汾陽只為末後有個面J38nB418_p0497c14目,所以一場敗缺。金明不惜唇齒,為汝翻轉面皮。」卓J38nB418_p0497c15拄杖,下座。
J38nB418_p0497c16示眾。舉:「寶應昭云:『寶應門風險,入者喪全身。作麼生J38nB418_p0497c17是出身一句?若道不得,三十年後。』石源雲曰:『寶應自J38nB418_p0497c18救不了。』」師曰:「石門道:『寶應自救不了。』是有出身路麼?J38nB418_p0497c19諸人會取三十年後的。」
J38nB418_p0497c20示眾。舉:「雲門欽上堂,良久曰:『好個話頭,若到諸方,不J38nB418_p0497c21得錯舉。』便下座。」師曰:「雲門舉揚個事,如九轉丹砂。諸J38nB418_p0497c22方不錯舉者,能有幾人?」
J38nB418_p0497c23示眾。舉:「興陽鐸,僧問:『佛界與眾生界相去多少?』興曰:J38nB418_p0497c24『道不得。』曰:『真個那?』興曰:『有些子。』」師曰:「興陽有殺人刀,J38nB418_p0497c25無活人劍。」
J38nB418_p0497c26示眾。舉:「僧問靈泉:『如何是和尚活計?』泉曰:『一物也無。』J38nB418_p0497c27曰:『未審日用何物?』泉便喝,僧作禮,泉便打。」師曰:「者則J38nB418_p0497c28公案,大有人不肯靈泉,金明要斷不平,可惜拄杖子J38nB418_p0497c29不在手。」
J38nB418_p0497c30示眾。舉:「雲峰悅因僧問:『如何是心地法門?』峰曰:『不從J38nB418_p0498a01人得。』曰:『不從人得時如何?』峰曰:『此去衡陽不遠。』」師曰:J38nB418_p0498a02「雲峰道心地法門不從人得,畢竟從甚麼處得?」
J38nB418_p0498a03示眾。舉:「白雲端因僧問:『一喝分賓主,照用一齊行。去J38nB418_p0498a04此二途,請師別道。』雲便喝,僧曰:『從來疑著和尚。』雲便J38nB418_p0498a05打,僧曰:『作家宗師。』雲曰:『也不消得。』僧禮拜。」師曰:「白雲J38nB418_p0498a06全提正令,者僧向猛虎口中分肉、毒龍頷下探珠,金J38nB418_p0498a07明只可坐觀成敗。」
J38nB418_p0498a08示眾。舉:「黃龍心與夏倚公立談《肇論》,至黃龍曰:『何常J38nB418_p0498a09會萬物為自己?』及瑞巖拈畢。」師曰:「黃龍力能揮張毒J38nB418_p0498a10手,不知格外提持;夏公途路短販,且喜親到寶山;瑞J38nB418_p0498a11巖雖是扶弱濟危,怎出得公立問頭?然雖如是,還我J38nB418_p0498a12無情意來。何故?從前汗馬無人識,只要重論蓋代功。」
J38nB418_p0498a13示眾。舉:「黃龍心云:『粗言及細語,皆歸第一義。你者隊J38nB418_p0498a14尿床鬼子,三生六十劫也未夢見第一義在。』」師曰:「黃J38nB418_p0498a15龍提持第一義,如高祖入關中。」
J38nB418_p0498a16示眾。舉:「如翁申因僧問:『如何是佛法大意?』翁曰:『周歲J38nB418_p0498a17孩兒打花鼓。』曰:『阿誰證明?』翁曰:『古廟香爐也不會。』便J38nB418_p0498a18打。石源雲曰:『如翁太煞傷。慈廣福即不然,有問:「如何J38nB418_p0498a19是佛法大意?」向他道:「八十翁翁入場屋。」』」師曰:「如翁正J38nB418_p0498a20眼有在,未審者僧還會古廟香爐麼?大眾!秖如石門J38nB418_p0498a21道:八十翁翁入場屋。意在如何?欲窮千里目,更上一J38nB418_p0498a22層樓。」
J38nB418_p0498a23示眾。僧問:「如何是金明境?」師曰:「佛閣高,蠡湖深。」曰:「如J38nB418_p0498a24何是境中人?」師曰:「我有時用拄杖,有時不用拄杖。」曰:J38nB418_p0498a25「人境蒙指示,向上事如何?」師曰:「待汝踢倒醉李亭,道J38nB418_p0498a26也不遲。」迺曰:「範蠡湖頭秋色高,水光徹底火雲燒。苧J38nB418_p0498a27蘿村畔霞生樹,繡出鴛鴦一所橋。風颯颯,水潦潦,無J38nB418_p0498a28限幽懷思轉饒。坐久聲沉新月上,光輝皎皎透雲霄。」J38nB418_p0498a29中秋,示眾。舉百丈、西堂、南泉侍馬祖玩月因緣,師曰:J38nB418_p0498a30「馬師父子一回相見,可謂金聲玉振,千古之下聲光J38nB418_p0498b01猶在。檢點將來,大似寒儒詐富,烏藤有分。何故?若無J38nB418_p0498b02超方作,怎得到今朝?」
J38nB418_p0498b03示眾。舉:「拗牛祖因僧參,祖橫按拄杖曰:『入門即錯,不J38nB418_p0498b04入亦錯。』僧無對,祖便打。又僧參,祖如前問,僧曰:『合取J38nB418_p0498b05狗口。』祖拈棒曰:『令合是汝行,權借一半。』便打。」師曰:「入J38nB418_p0498b06門即錯,不入亦錯。小乘錢貫,大乘井索。」
J38nB418_p0498b07重九,示眾。「今日重陽節,淵明酒興狂,採菊東籬下,語J38nB418_p0498b08笑發幽香。山僧不會先賢意,三嗅寒香立晚陽。」
J38nB418_p0498b09示眾。舉:「高峰上堂,豎拂云:『到者裏,進前一步也不得,J38nB418_p0498b10退後一步也不得,總不恁麼也不得。畢竟如何不得J38nB418_p0498b11不得?』」師曰:「高峰用盡九牛之力,只是轉身不得。金明J38nB418_p0498b12與古人抖筋抖骨,不為分外。」豎拂子,召眾曰:「金明者J38nB418_p0498b13裏,進前一步也得,退後一步也得,總不恁麼亦得。畢J38nB418_p0498b14竟如何得得?」
J38nB418_p0498b15龍興和尚忌日,拈香。「一自巾瓶後,倏焉十四秋,始知J38nB418_p0498b16墮馬腹,更不問來由。今日重相見,又添多少愁?華峰J38nB418_p0498b17與碧雲,八載意綢繆。大眾!如何是相見底事?」拈香,云:J38nB418_p0498b18「者個還當得麼?」燒香,云:「長憶江南三月裏,杜鵑啼血J38nB418_p0498b19染枝頭。」
J38nB418_p0498b20示眾。「金明與諸人道破,只是不得錯會。達磨祖師直J38nB418_p0498b21指人心,見性成佛,賺殺一船人。」
J38nB418_p0498b22李蛟門居士領眾紳士設齋,請陞座,師拈香云:「此瓣J38nB418_p0498b23香端為J38nB418_p0498b24今上皇帝祝延聖躬萬歲,伏願四海來賓,萬民樂業;此J38nB418_p0498b25瓣香奉為本府廳邑諸位尊官,伏願壽山挺秀,福海J38nB418_p0498b26洪深;此瓣香奉為闔郡紳紟現前,請主本寺諸宿,伏J38nB418_p0498b27願同悟真乘,共明般若;此瓣香奉為本寺開山歷代J38nB418_p0498b28尊宿,伏願不違本誓,擁護法幢;此瓣香奉為本寺堂J38nB418_p0498b29上開法第一代師翁介老和尚,伏願不捨寶筏,渡盡J38nB418_p0498b30迷淪。」次于懷中拈出云:「此瓣香不須多劫栽培,豈藉J38nB418_p0498c01陰陽造就?幾番親遭毒手,十五年來幾欲藏拙,愈隱J38nB418_p0498c02彌彰。今日遇個不識竅的,大似宿債難逃,被他徹底J38nB418_p0498c03掀翻,直得藏身無處,熱向爐中,供養前住廬山東林,J38nB418_p0498c04次住浠川華桂,末住新安龍興,傳臨濟正宗第三十J38nB418_p0498c05二代山鐸先師大和尚,不惟酬報法乳,且要諸人共J38nB418_p0498c06知。」斂衣就座。石源和尚白椎云:「法筵龍象眾,當觀第J38nB418_p0498c07一義。」師曰:「我本無心有所希求,今此法王大寶自然J38nB418_p0498c08而至,大眾要識寶麼?請出相見。」僧問:「世尊纔生,便云:J38nB418_p0498c09『天上天下,惟吾獨尊。』如何是獨尊的事?」師曰:「山僧今J38nB418_p0498c10日陞座。」僧云:「恁麼則人人本具,個個不無。」師曰:「上座J38nB418_p0498c11又作麼生?」僧禮拜,師曰:「未可全信。」迺曰:「若論此事,據J38nB418_p0498c12實而言,卒無定準,迥超聲色,絕離見知,語默難通,動J38nB418_p0498c13靜不涉。所以唱道:須明語內無玄,玄在語內;句中無J38nB418_p0498c14意,意在句中。正眼豁開,洞然明白,纔落思惟,十萬八J38nB418_p0498c15千。固知法本無邊,淵源莫測,智海洪深,浩蕩無際,欲J38nB418_p0498c16趨向以無門,即回旋而絕跡。從上佛祖盡在無趨向J38nB418_p0498c17處顯現當人,故有時壁立萬仞,攀仰不及;有時隨機J38nB418_p0498c18赴感,一任觀瞻。到個裏,實無一法可取,亦無一法可J38nB418_p0498c19捨。與麼承當,一彈指頃,成就無邊佛事,建立無量法J38nB418_p0498c20門,理事頓超,真機獨露,淨裸裸、赤灑灑,渾沒巴鼻。至J38nB418_p0498c21若曲為時機,將半個栗棘蓬咒底攪翻,拈出千鈞生J38nB418_p0498c22藥頭人天揭示。且道:路逢劍客,還是詩遇高人?」良久,J38nB418_p0498c23云:「真淨界中纔一念,閻浮已過七千年。」復舉世尊初J38nB418_p0498c24生及雲門話畢,師曰:「雲門氣宇如王,怎奈陣後興兵?J38nB418_p0498c25旭上座不妨寬著肚皮,忍得一時之氣,清福自然勝J38nB418_p0498c26過與人。何故?八千人散煙塵盡,四海歌謠賀太平。」石J38nB418_p0498c27源和尚結椎,云:「諦觀法王法,法王法如是。」師下座。
J38nB418_p0498c28晚參,上堂。「虛玄大道體全彰,物物頭頭盡顯揚,海月J38nB418_p0498c29湖天空闊處,珊珊翠竹倚斜陽,千門萬戶重重透,理J38nB418_p0498c30事雙融絕較量。諸仁者,謾揣詳,祖翁一片閒田地,兒J38nB418_p0499a01孫永劫受餘殃。」拈拂子畫[○@、]相,云:「到者裏也須汗流J38nB418_p0499a02浹背始得。」
J38nB418_p0499a03示眾。舉:「雲門道:『平地上死人無數,出得荊棘林是好J38nB418_p0499a04手。』有僧云:『恁麼則堂中第一座有長處。』門云:『蘇嚕蘇J38nB418_p0499a05嚕。』東山演祖云:『太平即不然,平地上個個丈夫,荊棘J38nB418_p0499a06林裏坐得的是好手。何故?』復云:『格。』金明又不然,平地J38nB418_p0499a07上活潑潑,荊棘林中灑落落,未是好手。」以杖劃一劃,J38nB418_p0499a08云:「者裏透得過,方堪共語。」
J38nB418_p0499a09示眾。「九月池荷盡,西風入骨寒,東籬無限意,霜冷怯J38nB418_p0499a10衣單。三兩個衲子,優游鴛水邊,漁艇驚鶴起,翔集去J38nB418_p0499a11翩翩。若問歸來日,那邊休夏,者裏過年?」良久,云:「蒼天,J38nB418_p0499a12蒼天。」

J38nB418_p0499a19示眾。舉:「南泉云:『文殊、普賢昨夜三更起佛見、法見,各J38nB418_p0499a20與二十棒,貶向二鐵圍山。』金明則不然,有起佛見、法J38nB418_p0499a21見,明窗淨几,安頓珍饈供養。何故?此一時,彼一時。」
J38nB418_p0499a22示眾。舉:「南泉云:『王老師自小養一頭水牯牛,擬向溪J38nB418_p0499a23東牧,不免食他國王水草;擬向溪西牧,不免食他國J38nB418_p0499a24王水草。不如隨分納些些,總不見得。』」師曰:「南泉恁麼J38nB418_p0499a25道,猶未瞥地在。金明也有一頭水牯牛,放著手,一任J38nB418_p0499a26自西自東,朝朝一曲田家樂,五字拈來調不同。」
J38nB418_p0499a27示眾。「唇吻中,眉毛下,與諸人露個消息。」良久,曰:「天氣J38nB418_p0499a28尚冷。」便下座。
J38nB418_p0499a29除歲,小參。「釋迦出世,為一大事因緣故,所以不吝慈J38nB418_p0499a30悲,巧設多方。」拈拂子劃一劃,云:「只要諸人就裏討個J38nB418_p0499b01下落,別無岐路可趨。眾中有會就裏落處麼?如無,金J38nB418_p0499b02明與你分析去也。」揮拂,云:「一段光明無剩少,赫然照J38nB418_p0499b03燭古乾坤。」
J38nB418_p0499b04元旦,上堂。「新年頭,行新令,大地山河一齊聽命,以百J38nB418_p0499b05千須彌入一毫端,於毫端內現百千三昧。」拈起拄杖,J38nB418_p0499b06云:「拄杖子還入也未?」擊香几,云:「年年是好年,日日是J38nB418_p0499b07好日,大家納新祥,金明獨失利。」
J38nB418_p0499b08示眾。舉:「僧問南泉:『即心是佛又不得,非心非佛又不J38nB418_p0499b09得,師意如何?』泉曰:『大德且信即心是佛便了,更說甚J38nB418_p0499b10麼得與不得?』」師曰:「南泉答者僧話,疑殺多少人?汝等J38nB418_p0499b11夢眼若開,道非心非佛也是,道即心即佛也是。如若J38nB418_p0499b12狐疑,且去僧堂前寮舍內看,畢竟承誰恩力?」
J38nB418_p0499b13示眾。「猛虎當門坐,諸人得何三昧得入?」
J38nB418_p0499b14示眾。「春風蕩蕩,春日融融,鳥鳴幽谷,花綻崇隆。大眾!J38nB418_p0499b15且道:是法爾?是神通?者裏通一線,吾師不在廟廊▆。」
J38nB418_p0499b16示眾。「十五日已前風,十五日已後雨。正當十五日,呼J38nB418_p0499b17風即風,呼雨即雨。」
J38nB418_p0499b18示眾。「逆風行船,須憑篙人眼力;衲僧入煆,要假師家J38nB418_p0499b19鉗錘。鉗錘不玅,不能除其多劫沉滯;眼力不精,不能J38nB418_p0499b20諳其長驅水脈。如是全賓全主,有照有用。若不爾者,J38nB418_p0499b21如紅爐上著雪,便一齊烏了,安有解脫時節?」
J38nB418_p0499b22示眾。「來也不入此門,去也不出此門,來去既無蹤跡J38nB418_p0499b23可尋,那畔者邊安有語話會?所以道:大機大用不存J38nB418_p0499b24軌則,如電光石火,擬議之間即錯過了也。」
J38nB418_p0499b25示眾。以拂子畫○相,云:「若向者裏道得,不落五陰試J38nB418_p0499b26道看。」
J38nB418_p0499b27示眾。「今朝三月三,大地山河驀出關。萬象森羅開正J38nB418_p0499b28眼,桃紅李白柳垂煙。祖意西來明的的,真如般若體J38nB418_p0499b29虛玄。恁麼解悟去,須知頭上有青天。」
J38nB418_p0499b30示眾。「巧說千般,不如直道。春風和細雨,全非佛祖玅。J38nB418_p0499c01諸禪行履處,常防生青草。」
J38nB418_p0499c02示眾。舉:「無準範最初請益堯老宿坐禪之法,堯曰:『禪J38nB418_p0499c03是何物?坐的是誰?』準晝夜體究。一日,于廁提前話,有J38nB418_p0499c04省。」師曰:「雪竇大似純剛打就,一期火迸星飛;老宿質J38nB418_p0499c05庫典牛,未免清平渡水。」
J38nB418_p0499c06示眾。舉:「仰山穆因僧問:『如何是正聞?』曰:『不從耳入。』曰:J38nB418_p0499c07『作麼生?』曰:『還聞麼?』」師曰:「長江滾白練,逆水放木鵝。耳J38nB418_p0499c08裏眼裏任人作活,只是不許妄通消息。」喝一喝。
J38nB418_p0499c09示眾。舉:「大隨真,僧問:『和尚百年後法付何人?』曰:『露柱J38nB418_p0499c10火爐。』曰:『還受也無?』曰:『火爐露柱。』」師曰:「深入不犯,風行J38nB418_p0499c11草偃。大隨百年後果有法付乎?問取露柱火爐。」
J38nB418_p0499c12示眾。舉:「馬祖因水潦參,禮拜起,欲伸問,祖一踏踏倒,J38nB418_p0499c13潦忽大悟,起來大笑曰:『也大奇,也大奇,百千三昧、無J38nB418_p0499c14量玅義,只在一毫頭上識得根源去。』」師曰:「只是個語,J38nB418_p0499c15語向上一路,驢年去也未夢見。」
J38nB418_p0499c16示眾。舉:「黃檗參百丈,至丈曰:『如是!如是!見與師齊,減J38nB418_p0499c17師半德;見過於師,方堪傳受。子甚有超師之見。』」師曰:J38nB418_p0499c18「百丈敗缺不少,那裏是他見過處?」
J38nB418_p0499c19示眾。舉:「大慈中上堂曰:『山僧不解答話,祗能識病。』時J38nB418_p0499c20有僧出,慈便歸方丈。」師曰:「大慈弄巧成拙,自相鈍置。J38nB418_p0499c21金明也識病,三般不醫。」
J38nB418_p0499c22示眾。舉:「月溪澂一錫遍參,最後至道林呈所見,無際J38nB418_p0499c23不諾。溪以際抑,出不遜語辭際。際知是法器,遂負囊J38nB418_p0499c24送至山門,忽指黃犬曰:『者畜生為甚有業識、無佛性?』J38nB418_p0499c25溪于言下大悟。」師曰:「者個道理如太阿劍不敢犯鋒,J38nB418_p0499c26如塗毒鼓聞著即喪,信非偶然。月溪一向氣宇如王J38nB418_p0499c27大方獨步,豈出道林縵天網子不得?雖然,道林若無J38nB418_p0499c28匣內龍泉,鼓聲湊巧,又安得月溪點首下高臺?」
J38nB418_p0499c29示眾。舉:「寶芳進因與同學會文,睹芍藥花有省,從坦J38nB418_p0499c30然披剃,誨以柏樹子話,參遍諸方,自謂無出格鉗錘。J38nB418_p0500a01一晚,在天界佛殿經行,聞燈花爆如雷震,尋謁大岡,J38nB418_p0500a02便問:『如何是西來密密意?』夷峰下禪床擒住,曰:『西來J38nB418_p0500a03無意,你道此間是甚麼意?』芳無對,如是寢食俱忘。一J38nB418_p0500a04日,登廁,聞鄰僧敲籌作聲,忽大悟。」師曰:「夷峰鉗錘嚴J38nB418_p0500a05密,門牆固不通風,非天目老人亦不能破家蕩產。大J38nB418_p0500a06眾!還有知此消息者麼?」良久,卓拄杖,下座。
J38nB418_p0500a07示眾。舉:「無趣空上堂集眾,趣良久,喝一喝曰:『禍出私J38nB418_p0500a08門。』便歸方丈。」師曰:「不遇江南客,徒自唱鷓鴣。」
J38nB418_p0500a09晚參,上堂。舉臨濟四喝,師曰:「臨濟大師將謂有多少J38nB418_p0500a10奇特,致令後代兒孫咬住矢橛,以為大休大歇的田J38nB418_p0500a11地。正眼看來,大似羊質虎皮。饒你喝得金明上三十J38nB418_p0500a12三天,撲下十八風輪,甦醒起來,向你道好喝,只是未J38nB418_p0500a13在。何故?一片白雲橫驛路,時人幾個不迷蹤?」
J38nB418_p0500a14晚參。「但與麼去,不負來機,知汝疾在膏肓,十無一生,J38nB418_p0500a15山僧不避諸方檢點,猶作死馬醫。」復云:「過。」
J38nB418_p0500a16示眾。「湖光瀲灩,柳色青幽,農歌雜還,漁唱歡忻。艛船J38nB418_p0500a17奏郭外之笙簫,音聞聒地;畫樓擁閨閣之佳人,朱紫J38nB418_p0500a18溢目。鳥語鶯歌,雲行風驟,一一為諸人發向上機,開J38nB418_p0500a19正法眼。者裏會得,釋迦不前,彌勒不後;設使不薦,一J38nB418_p0500a20任打瓦鑽龜。」
J38nB418_p0500a21晚參。「連旬五月黃梅雨,山衲口中生醭白,爛卻西來J38nB418_p0500a22鼻祖心,餈團日久化為鱉,東山碓觜忽開花,生鐵秤J38nB418_p0500a23鎚捻出汁。大眾且道:那事又如何?」擲下拂子,起身視J38nB418_p0500a24之,曰:「嗄!臨濟無位真人,變作雲門矢橛。」大笑,歸方丈。
J38nB418_p0500a25示眾。舉:「古湛沖結茅徑山集無趣語,及見趣,趣曰:『曾J38nB418_p0500a26做什麼來?』湛曰:『買得一段田,收得元本契,請和尚僉J38nB418_p0500a27押。』趣展閱,曰:『者是我的,你的聻?』湛曰:『莫搶奪行市。』趣J38nB418_p0500a28擲下集本,湛便出。」師頌曰:「龍門久駐飛騰勢,纔便風J38nB418_p0500a29雷趁晚潮;驚起泥牛穿碧海,轉身一拶直沖霄。」
J38nB418_p0500a30示眾。舉:「無趣空問古湛曰:『徹骨徹髓道一句,三玄三J38nB418_p0500b01要絕遮護。此二句中,我欲取一句為法,你道取那一J38nB418_p0500b02句好?』湛曰:『和尚適來道那一句?』趣瞋目叱曰:『汝恁麼J38nB418_p0500b03無記性?』湛曰:『秪為和尚徹骨徹髓。』趣笑曰:『不然,為子J38nB418_p0500b04一人即得,爭奈大眾何?』湛曰:『取即不辭,恐辜負先代,J38nB418_p0500b05喪我後人。』趣曰:『如是,如是。』」師曰:「無幻大似一顆走盤J38nB418_p0500b06珠,愈琢愈輝。趣祖驗得號段分明,也是勾賊破家。」
J38nB418_p0500b07示眾。舉:「南明廣因僧問:『四大分張,眼光落地,甚處安J38nB418_p0500b08身立命?』山曰:『東家作驢,西家作馬。』」師曰:「好風流,只恐J38nB418_p0500b09者僧不識。何故?孤月照臨山嶽靜,幾多人向此中休?」
J38nB418_p0500b10示眾。舉:「香嚴端上堂,僧問:『如何是直截根源?』嚴擲下J38nB418_p0500b11拄杖歸方丈。」師曰:「香嚴腳下有紅絲線,被者僧一拶J38nB418_p0500b12方始瞥地。」
J38nB418_p0500b13示眾。舉:「仰山住東平日,溈山令僧送書并鏡至。山上J38nB418_p0500b14堂,提起示眾曰:『且道溈山鏡?東平鏡?若道是東平鏡,J38nB418_p0500b15又是溈山送來;若道是溈山鏡,又在東平手裏。道得J38nB418_p0500b16即留取,道不得即撲破去也。』眾無語。山撲破,下座。」師J38nB418_p0500b17曰:「馬師送醬,百丈打破醬甕;溈山送鏡,東平撲破鏡J38nB418_p0500b18子。祖孫接踵,頂門只具一隻眼。」
J38nB418_p0500b19示眾。舉:「南明廣志慕禪學,恨宗風不著,遍遊講肆,復J38nB418_p0500b20歸掩關,看無字話,始覺物理一致。古湛就關扣問,便J38nB418_p0500b21有師資之契。啟關,謁古湛于車溪。未幾,即入古湛舊J38nB418_p0500b22隱之白雲,禁足三載。徑山繼峰老宿請湛開法,明每J38nB418_p0500b23聞示誨,必垂淚刻究。一日,偶拾片紙,有『觀方知彼去,J38nB418_p0500b24去者不至方』之句,有省,呈湛,湛印可,即舉明首眾,尋J38nB418_p0500b25付以從上源流法偈。明前後服勤八載,日益玄奧。」師J38nB418_p0500b26頌曰:「禹貢上承堯舜德,盛明猶見漢唐心。此時不必J38nB418_p0500b27問端拱,帝業持盈已到今。」
J38nB418_p0500b28示眾。舉:「鴛湖用祖欠安,介菴師翁侍次,湖命茶,問曰:J38nB418_p0500b29『汝字覺先,喚甚麼作先?』菴曰:『且喜今日得自在。』湖曰:J38nB418_p0500b30『如何是覺後?』菴曰:『請和尚尊重。』湖曰:『你還分得先後J38nB418_p0500c01麼?』菴良久,湖便喝,菴曰:『只管喫茶。』湖曰:『如何是喫茶J38nB418_p0500c02底事?』菴曰:『柿棗腐乾都在者裏。』湖曰:『意作麼生?』菴曰:J38nB418_p0500c03『一口吞盡。』湖曰:『是甚滋味?』菴曰:『甜者甜,鹹者鹹。』湖曰:J38nB418_p0500c04『未在,更道。』菴禮拜,曰:『謝茶。』湖深肯。」師曰:「大丈夫當爐J38nB418_p0500c05不避火迸,臨場豈諱截舌?機旭是普明四世孫,敢言J38nB418_p0500c06未在?若是新金明,待他道:『一口吞盡。』驀豎竹篦,曰:『者J38nB418_p0500c07個聻?』普明若出得者隻手,老漢吞了底也須吐出。」
J38nB418_p0500c08示眾。舉:「永福照因僧問:『如何彭州境?』曰:『人馬合雜。』僧J38nB418_p0500c09作拽弓勢,福拈棒,僧擬議,福便打。」師曰:「者僧甚有穿J38nB418_p0500c10楊之巧,爭奈臨陣弦斷何?」
J38nB418_p0500c11示眾。舉:「圓通秀云:『少林九年冷坐,剛被神光覷破,如J38nB418_p0500c12今玉石難分,秪得麻纏紙裹。者一個、那一個、更一個,J38nB418_p0500c13若是明眼人,何須重說破?』金明不免節上生枝。達磨J38nB418_p0500c14九年孤坐,末梢無端失卻,而今學語之流,盡喫他人J38nB418_p0500c15涎唾。者一個、那一個、更一個,但說別人短長,不識自J38nB418_p0500c16家好惡。」
J38nB418_p0500c17示眾。舉:「白雲端云:『古人留下一言半句,未透時撞著J38nB418_p0500c18鐵壁相似,忽然覷透,方知自己原是鐵壁。如今作麼J38nB418_p0500c19生透?』復云:『鐵壁,鐵壁。』」師曰:「白雲只知鐵壁,且不知古J38nB418_p0500c20人意旨。」
J38nB418_p0500c21示眾。「高而無上,廣不可及。淵深莫測,細包太虛。形名J38nB418_p0500c22不立,孰把心通。堂堂大度無多子,喚作物兮即不中。」
J38nB418_p0500c23示眾。舉:「昭覺勤云:『迥無依倚,超宗越格;非佛非心,壁J38nB418_p0500c24立萬仞。桑樹上著箭,柳樹上出汁。』」師曰:「迥無依倚,寸J38nB418_p0500c25步難移;非佛非心,挨拶不入;桑樹上著箭,柳樹上出J38nB418_p0500c26汁,兩彩一賽。秪如壁立萬仞一句又作麼生?」驀撫香J38nB418_p0500c27桌,云:「消得龍王多少風?」
J38nB418_p0500c28示眾。舉:「方山寶拈杖問秋江曰:『舉一不得舉二,放過J38nB418_p0500c29一著落在第二。』江近前奪杖擲地曰:『大眾證明。』巖深J38nB418_p0500c30肯。」師曰:「瑞巖陣布龍蛇,未免鉤賊破家。秋江雖有臨J38nB418_p0501a01場之策,且無定亂之謀。若要河清海晏,且看休兵奏J38nB418_p0501a02凱。」
J38nB418_p0501a03示眾。「我手何似佛手,拈起笊篱便作糞帚。我腳何似J38nB418_p0501a04驢腳,踏斷石橋不識略彴。人人有個生緣,八角磨盤J38nB418_p0501a05空裏旋。相逢兩手垂過膝,短髮髼鬆已蓋肩。忽逢捕J38nB418_p0501a06風捉影的,一聲漁笛渡前川。」
J38nB418_p0501a07示眾。舉:「則中度有道流問:『承教中有言:「劍為不平離J38nB418_p0501a08寶匣。」是否?』曰:『是。』曰:『弟子有不平事,請和尚借劍,還得J38nB418_p0501a09麼?』曰:『得。』道流作接劍勢,中便喝,道流曰:『我素常疑著J38nB418_p0501a10者老漢。』中曰:『作麼生?』道亦喝,中曰:『好喝,再喝看。』道掩J38nB418_p0501a11耳便出。石源雲曰:『我識得你是道流。』」師別曰:「我幾乎J38nB418_p0501a12喚你作道流。」
J38nB418_p0501a13示眾。舉:「天界古拙俊上堂云:『魚躍于淵,不能躍于階J38nB418_p0501a14級之上;太末蟲到處能緣,不能緣于火燄之上。衲僧J38nB418_p0501a15家超佛越祖,腰包天地,鼻孔一缺不能補滿。』良久,云:J38nB418_p0501a16『又怎怪得?』」師曰:「寐語作麼?」
J38nB418_p0501a17示眾。舉:「東林無際悟初縛菴,研究無倦,四指大書亦J38nB418_p0501a18不顧,只是拍忙做鈍工夫。一日,因啟發參八峰、無念、J38nB418_p0501a19松隱輩,及見白雲,雲舉萬法歸一問,林答,雲乃喝出。J38nB418_p0501a20一晚,經行廊下,雲見,遂扭住,曰:『大眾快將火來,老僧J38nB418_p0501a21擒下個賊。』林曰:『是家內人。』雲以手掩林口,曰:『如何是J38nB418_p0501a22家內事?速道!速道!』林如此有省。」師曰:「東林胸藏甲冑,J38nB418_p0501a23氣噴斗牛,及到白雲會下,不但斂旗停鼓,亦且喪身J38nB418_p0501a24失命。」
J38nB418_p0501a25示眾。「處暑秋分白露節,朝寒暮冷午時熱,禪客相逢J38nB418_p0501a26不展顏,秋風陣陣落梧葉。森羅萬象漸紅黃,此景此J38nB418_p0501a27時誰會得?一日缽盂兩度開,飽飯殊慚兩鬢雪。」
J38nB418_p0501a28示眾。「翠竹搖風,觀音入理深談;黃花滿徑,毘盧示現J38nB418_p0501a29慈容。雁過長空遠岫,飛無心之雲幾片;鶴棲喬木層J38nB418_p0501a30巖,瀉有意之水數聲。於此會得,山河大地不是別物,J38nB418_p0501b01碧沼冥冷豈屬外來?」
J38nB418_p0501b02示眾。「憑虛閣下古龍潭,深淺誰能把杖探?縷縷絲垂J38nB418_p0501b03千尺外,時人多作釣臺看。」
J38nB418_p0501b04示眾。「相逢無背面,到處絕週遮,明眼人前見得透,葫J38nB418_p0501b05蘆原是帝瓶差。」
J38nB418_p0501b06晚參。「三拳打不落,一腳踢不起,半邊卻囫圇,無物堪J38nB418_p0501b07比擬。」
J38nB418_p0501b08晚參。「釋迦不在前,彌勒不在後,正當恁麼時,諸人命J38nB418_p0501b09根卻在旭上座手裏。真正衲僧,祖父田園踏得穩,更J38nB418_p0501b10愁何處不封疆?」
J38nB418_p0501b11晚參。「盡十方世界純清絕點,未是衲僧極則。不見一J38nB418_p0501b12法,猶是淆訛。若是丈夫兒,何妨性燥。」
J38nB418_p0501b13示眾。舉:「方山寶云:『撐鐵船過海底人,為甚麼向針孔J38nB418_p0501b14裏叫屈?』」師頌曰:「差卻毫釐便失宗,浮雲宿霧鎖重重,J38nB418_p0501b15落花庭際無人掃,卻怨春閨盡日慵。」
J38nB418_p0501b16示眾。「至道無難,唯嫌揀擇。鼓聲鐘聲簫管聲,誰云一J38nB418_p0501b17法之所印?日光月光閃電光,何曾一色可比量?不識J38nB418_p0501b18楊岐三腳驢,烏龜驀地過扶桑。」
J38nB418_p0501b19示眾。舉:「斷橋倫祖初見谷源於瑞嚴,聞麻三斤話有J38nB418_p0501b20疑。一日,于雲居見山堂,偶閱《楞嚴》,至『蚊蟲螻蟻無有J38nB418_p0501b21言說而能辦事』處,頓省厥旨,曰:『趙州柏樹子話可煞J38nB418_p0501b22直截。』」師曰:「蠱毒之家水,勸君切莫嘗。沾一滴,定喪亡。」
J38nB418_p0501b23示眾。舉:「天目寶芳和尚上堂曰:『箭鋒相拄,徒勞話會;J38nB418_p0501b24啐啄同時,全憑作者。啐啄同時即且置,如何是箭鋒J38nB418_p0501b25相拄底事?』野翁出眾禮拜,起便喝,目亦喝,翁又喝,兩J38nB418_p0501b26喝歸眾。目卓拄杖下座。」師頌曰:「雷聲纔震雨瀰漫,個J38nB418_p0501b27裏誰將正眼看?生鐵崑崙剛抹過,澄潭驚起老龍蟠。」
J38nB418_p0501b28示眾。舉:「鴛湖用祖問密雲禪師曰:『恢擴法道,開示人J38nB418_p0501b29天,秪如有一人不受化下者,畢竟如何攝授?』」師頌曰:J38nB418_p0501b30「仰手雲兮覆手雨,電光石火豈能追?聲前有路無人J38nB418_p0501c01薦,獨自悽悽下釣磯。」
J38nB418_p0501c02示眾。舉:「本師山鐸和尚上堂曰:『即心即佛,野老家淳;J38nB418_p0501c03非心非佛,刀鎗遍地。不是心、不是佛、不是物,竿頭絲J38nB418_p0501c04線從君弄,不犯清波意自殊。但恁麼會,馬祖鼻孔不J38nB418_p0501c05消一捏,自然徹骨徹髓。還有恁麼會底麼?』有僧纔出,J38nB418_p0501c06山連棒打退。」師頌曰:「奇策籌謀各謹機,風前歌唄動J38nB418_p0501c07離微;七千人散煙沉後,江北江南盡帶悲。」
J38nB418_p0501c08示眾。舉趙州狗子話,師頌曰:「狗子佛性無,蘆花滿渡J38nB418_p0501c09頭。漁翁隨處釣,不必著羊裘。狗子佛性有,花街柳巷J38nB418_p0501c10口。報與癡禪人,出入休莽鹵。」
J38nB418_p0501c11示眾。舉:「石頭遷和尚曰:『吾之法門,先佛傳受。不論禪J38nB418_p0501c12定精進,唯達佛之知見。即心即佛,湛然圓滿。凡聖同J38nB418_p0501c13齊,應用無方。離心意識,三界六道,唯自心現。水月鏡J38nB418_p0501c14像,豈有生滅?』」師頌曰:「老到心同稚子歌,引人胸次自J38nB418_p0501c15成魔。衡南一望秋雲裏,蠻鳥關關唱哩囉。」
J38nB418_p0501c16示眾。舉:「僧參伏牛無礙鑑,鑑喝曰:『看劍。』曰:『幸是某甲,J38nB418_p0501c17若是別人,一場禍事。』鑑曰:『那個是別人,試指出看。』僧J38nB418_p0501c18掀倒禪床。鑑曰:『幸是老僧,若是別人,打折你驢腰。』」師J38nB418_p0501c19曰:「若要名壓諸方,須是臨濟、德山。若是斬釘截鐵,讓J38nB418_p0501c20他普願、歸宗。權衡佛祖,提挈綱宗,須是恁麼人方堪J38nB418_p0501c21紹繼。伏牛老漢是則也是,怎奈放去太險,收來太奢。J38nB418_p0501c22若到金明,不特進退無門,要且喫棒有分。」
J38nB418_p0501c23示眾。舉:「智中國師因楚山訪中呈悟繇,山曰:『如何是J38nB418_p0501c24無字意?』中曰:『出匣吹毛劍,寒光射斗牛。』山曰:『趙州因J38nB418_p0501c25甚道無?』中曰:『波斯嚼冰雪,不覺齒牙寒。』山曰:『拈過有J38nB418_p0501c26無,如何湊泊?』中曰:『夜深誰把手,同共御街行?』山曰:『向J38nB418_p0501c27上還有奇特事也無?』中曰:『秋夜家家月,春深處處花,J38nB418_p0501c28一雙清白眼,何處撒塵沙?』山曰:『善哉!』」師曰:「楚山節節J38nB418_p0501c29驗過,智中胸藏甲兵,愈出愈奇,可謂作家戰將。秪如J38nB418_p0501c30出匣吹毛,還有端的得者麼?」
J38nB418_p0502a01示眾。舉:「車溪無幻祖示疾,僧問:『和尚百年後向甚麼J38nB418_p0502a02處去?』溪曰:『千株松下角彎彎,百草頭邊亂𨁝跳。』」師曰:J38nB418_p0502a03「火後一莖毛。」
J38nB418_p0502a04晚參。「十方世界一毛頭,迥出當陽絕異流,時人有眼J38nB418_p0502a05雙瞳瞽,劈面鉤錐不識羞。不識羞,沒來由,貓兒尾上J38nB418_p0502a06繫花毬。」
J38nB418_p0502a07晚參。「大道無難易,至理絕言詮,池上機梭聲相似,正J38nB418_p0502a08偏不落自綿綿。」
J38nB418_p0502a09晚參。「若要展演濟北宗風,鼓揚楊岐正脈,不須掀天J38nB418_p0502a10揭地,只消一捏鼻頭,自然汗出。」
J38nB418_p0502a11示眾。舉:「僧參峻中,嶸中拈拄杖曰:『是那個魔王使得J38nB418_p0502a12汝七顛八倒、帶水拖泥作麼?』僧便喝,中便打,僧曰:『看J38nB418_p0502a13破了也。』抽身便出。又僧參,中如前問,僧擬議,中打出。J38nB418_p0502a14又僧參,中亦如前問,僧曰:『氣急殺人。』中亦打出。一日,J38nB418_p0502a15光澤惠參,亦如前問,惠曰:『老老大大,著甚死急?』中擲J38nB418_p0502a16下拄杖,便歸方丈。」師曰:「峻中懷藏北斗,眼蓋南辰,傍J38nB418_p0502a17若無人,正眼觀來,也是弄巧成拙。」
J38nB418_p0502a18示眾。舉:「夾山、定山同行語次,定曰:『生死中無佛即無J38nB418_p0502a19生死。』夾曰:『生死中有佛即不迷生死。』互相不肯,同見J38nB418_p0502a20天梅。夾問:『未審二人見處那個較親?』梅曰:『一親一疏。』J38nB418_p0502a21夾曰:『那個親?』梅曰:『且去,明日來。』夾明日復問,梅曰:『親J38nB418_p0502a22者不問,問者不親。』夾住後曰:『當時失一雙眼。』」師頌曰:J38nB418_p0502a23「樹頭樹底覓殘紅,一片西飛一片東。始自武陵人去J38nB418_p0502a24後,喃喃幽鳥罵春風。」
J38nB418_p0502a25示眾。舉:「六祖因青原問:『當何所務即不落階級?』祖曰:J38nB418_p0502a26『汝曾作甚麼來?』曰:『聖諦亦不為。』曰:『落何階級?』曰:『聖諦J38nB418_p0502a27尚不為,何階級之有?』祖器之。」師頌曰:「金鼎龍蟠煙篆J38nB418_p0502a28靄,劫前露出垢衣身。堂堂不坐琉璃殿,豈惜東宮百J38nB418_p0502a29寶珍?」
J38nB418_p0502a30示眾。「心本是佛,道不用修,何更騎驢覓驢?心不是佛,J38nB418_p0502b01智不是道,擬議白雲萬里。者裏會得,物我同觀。倘或J38nB418_p0502b02不爾,徒勞話會。」邑宰沈克齋問:「智不到處作麼生?」師J38nB418_p0502b03喚沈公,沈應諾,師曰:「頭角露也。」
J38nB418_p0502b04邑宰屠尹和薦男素申請對靈小參。師揮拂子云:「身J38nB418_p0502b05從無相中受生,猶如幻出諸形像,幻人心識本來無,J38nB418_p0502b06罪福皆空無所住。心識既無,罪福悉空,且喚甚麼作J38nB418_p0502b07無相?」驀豎拂子云:「鯨吞海水盡,露出珊瑚枝。」
J38nB418_p0502b08李蛟門、又恂二居士薦兄上臨,請陞座。「夫誠明之道,J38nB418_p0502b09克己復禮,不可一日違仁,故聖門之徒多在者裏借J38nB418_p0502b10路徑過,立至善之所,猛地回覷,但一覺來則知非幻J38nB418_p0502b11非虛,而罪花凋謝、福果恒新,鎮常一物無聲無臭。」驀J38nB418_p0502b12豎拂子,云:「會此一物,細入微塵而無內、大包天地而J38nB418_p0502b13無外,仰之彌高、鑽之彌堅,瞻之在前、忽然在後。既瞻J38nB418_p0502b14仰不得,且上臨李公即今在甚麼處?」良久,揮拂子,云:J38nB418_p0502b15「玉樓曾賦就,恰好贈新篇。」
J38nB418_p0502b16普說。「貓有歃血之功,虎有起屍之德。善知識!一言半J38nB418_p0502b17句實有起死回生之力、翻窠倒臼之施,若無如是作J38nB418_p0502b18用,即是弄泥團底漢。昔南明祖掩關興善,有持《禪關J38nB418_p0502b19策進》書至,祖展閱,于無字話上凝然撲之不散、捏之J38nB418_p0502b20不聚、欲罷不能,覺得此身遍滿堂宇,盡乾坤世界總J38nB418_p0502b21是一個無字,行住坐臥、穿衣喫飯總是一個無字,至J38nB418_p0502b22如寒來暑往、鵲噪鴉鳴亦皆是一個無字,間有賓朋J38nB418_p0502b23候問,概不與焉。車溪沖和尚聞有真實志,親到關前J38nB418_p0502b24勘驗,祖將從前工夫一一舉似,溪應聲跌足曰:『悔我J38nB418_p0502b25來遲,向後縱欲到此,不易得也。』蓋師資一言相契,全J38nB418_p0502b26身許可。及祖啟關往謁,服勤八載。大眾!你看者個道J38nB418_p0502b27理畢竟有何區分?淆訛在甚麼處?前車溪扣關相見,J38nB418_p0502b28聞其語則應聲跌足已肯可矣,何機竅相投而在八J38nB418_p0502b29年之後?此非細事,乃敢草草。在師家須盡鉗錘以陶J38nB418_p0502b30鑄學者,重重洗拭,使其立錐無地,直使索索然不存J38nB418_p0502c01一毫微見,若有一毫佛法繫于胸中,即是生死根株,J38nB418_p0502c02所謂師嚴而道尊。在學者要假爐鞴,鉗錘惡辣,如迅J38nB418_p0502c03電疾雷,轉眼不得,無處吐氣。恁麼也不得,不恁麼也J38nB418_p0502c04不得,恁麼不恁麼總不得,直下如大火聚,近前不得。J38nB418_p0502c05到與麼時,忽被師家頂門一針,始解㘞地一聲,通身J38nB418_p0502c06汗下。向所疑者,如日消冰,似湯沃雪,纔到大休大歇J38nB418_p0502c07田地,然後拈一機則千機萬機寢削,舉一句則千句J38nB418_p0502c08萬句朝宗,放去收來,隨機生殺。古人到者裏,尚封鏡J38nB418_p0502c09封醬,腳下兒孫以致脫穎而出。又普明用和尚參究J38nB418_p0502c10此事,首親南祖,次謁車溪,得最上工夫。後侍南祖一J38nB418_p0502c11十三載,不離左右。一日,在徑山禪堂閱《思益梵天經J38nB418_p0502c12註》有省,即呈無生偈曰:『鐵壁銀山誰敢摧?賊身驀地J38nB418_p0502c13拶將來,相看原是舊相識,當下慚惶笑臉開。』又曰:『歷J38nB418_p0502c14劫多年窮苦事,風光留得到今朝,笙歌車馬門如市,J38nB418_p0502c15內院依然鎖寂寥。』南祖閱之,痛加訶叱。何也?恐普明J38nB418_p0502c16得少為足,站住腳跟,故痛處加艾,頂門示針,俾知臨J38nB418_p0502c17濟一宗道出常情。及至師資緣熟,特舉獨腳偈,普明J38nB418_p0502c18於言下頓契微旨,披閱蘊奧,點首下淚,則知恩大難J38nB418_p0502c19酬。假呈偈日南祖就與冬瓜印子,安得有此境界?諸J38nB418_p0502c20禪德!你看古人為此事親近師家十餘年,朝參暮請,J38nB418_p0502c21刻刻提撕,無論師家學人扭作一團,如冤家對頭相J38nB418_p0502c22似,開交不得,必要討個分明。如是久久磨煉,自然水J38nB418_p0502c23到渠成,心花頓現,頭頭合轍,法法圓通,掉臂欬唾,無J38nB418_p0502c24非大用現前。雖然,要是其人一等倚草附木,不但受J38nB418_p0502c25此鉗錘,纔學依樣葫蘆黑殼,本上攢措幾句說話,就J38nB418_p0502c26求付囑。其餘涅槃心、差別智,一千個、五百雙不會,過J38nB418_p0502c27在師家,總因道眼不明而自誤誤人。師家道眼果明,J38nB418_p0502c28鉗錘不凡,此輩如藥汞銀,入煆則流矣,況大法乎?今J38nB418_p0502c29諸方希徒門庭熱鬧,只要多散幾柄拂子,以致宗風J38nB418_p0502c30掃地。汝等既到金明,不問晚學初機,參要真參、證要J38nB418_p0503a01實證,看話頭即如限糧刻敵。古德云:『暫時不在,如同J38nB418_p0503a02死人。』且道暫時不在的是個甚麼?者裏一拶粉碎,撩J38nB418_p0503a03起便行。若是咬定矢橛不能轉換,他日鐵蛇鑽你鼻J38nB418_p0503a04孔有分在。莫言不道。」
J38nB418_p0503a05受三塔景德寺請,退院上堂。卓拄杖云:「法無一定,隨J38nB418_p0503a06機而化。道本無方,遇緣即宗。既無心于去來,何有相J38nB418_p0503a07於彼此?昭明同於杲日,放曠等乎虛空。或行或住,或J38nB418_p0503a08城或郭。若也事理不拘,情見超越,無可不可。」復卓杖J38nB418_p0503a09曰:「三尺龍泉光照膽,萬人叢裏奪高標。」拽杖便行。
