何謂義理有等不能超出情見二途真參實究將謂J27nB198_p0487b07宗門中事沒巴鼻無撈摸便欲討尋義路引發知解J27nB198_p0487b08或被宗乘教理玄妙沉埋或在經史外學穿鑿幾過J27nB198_p0487b09依稀相似彷彿不同不能打翻窠臼別立生涯秪愛J27nB198_p0487b10依傍道理病在逼真故開口落筆不是騰波瀾于舌J27nB198_p0487b11便乃走珠玉於毫端註腳分明惟恐不了或奧旨J27nB198_p0487b12淺解淺說奧求或偏好奇特之談或單取平實之致J27nB198_p0487b13或強分皂別白一文一句皆有分劑頭數或例和麩J27nB198_p0487b14糴麵麤言細語渾崙輥作一團究竟將來最初不從J27nB198_p0487b15實落工夫透頂徹底七穿八穴做箇掀天揭地漢子J27nB198_p0487b16打開父祖寶藏運出無盡家珍未免都在文字見解J27nB198_p0487b17上作活計不被古今方便言句羅籠便不曾向得羅J27nB198_p0487b18籠中透出直饒總不恁麼又墮在淨白地上面墻擔J27nB198_p0487b19為可憐怋也古德云:「靈光獨耀萬古徽猷入此門J27nB198_p0487b20莫存知解。」又曰:「見河能漂香象。」蓋見不透脫所以J27nB198_p0487b21日用應酬或簾纖搭滯有黏皮綴骨之病或偏枯滲J27nB198_p0487b22無掣電奔雷之機或直遂欠回互之作或輕脫乏J27nB198_p0487b23沈毅之用皆繇泥于情解義理故不知機位旋轉之J27nB198_p0487b24妙耳所以臨濟大師道:「驅耕夫之牛奪饑人之食。」J27nB198_p0487b25骨取髓痛下針錐能知此意方為當家種草自然道J27nB198_p0487b26出常情迴視義理禪如宿食不消彼悟底人非無義J27nB198_p0487b27理妙解他如無病人喫得消得也若是平日百不知J27nB198_p0487b28此劑返為毒藥識者宜詳慎之

何謂極則有等利根聰辯識性疏通將如來五時所J27nB198_p0487c01說教理條分縷析偏圓半滿之說頓漸小大之殊J27nB198_p0487c02不麤知梗概綸貫殆盡矣直饒因解起行修到行成J27nB198_p0487c03解絕亦不過法身邊事乃教家極則地位況未易到J27nB198_p0487c04者耶故開口便笑禪者有參無學有宗無教不信參J27nB198_p0487c05話頭起疑情底道理將謂禪是箇鶻崙磚打不破J27nB198_p0487c06三斤乾屎橛是宗師家要人猜三枚光景不見杜順J27nB198_p0487c07和尚是教乘中義虎其作法身頌云:「懷州牛喫禾J27nB198_p0487c08州馬腹脹天下覓醫人灸豬左膊上。」今人以教意平J27nB198_p0487c09疑禪宗為高誕者獨不思此偈出自講主之口J27nB198_p0487c10何等奇怪又可不為之倒參以徹其閫奧乎若以多J27nB198_p0487c11聞博辯為得者如香嚴問一答十問十答百及被溈J27nB198_p0487c12山折倒因擊竹大悟雖仰山毒辣之手亦把遏不住J27nB198_p0487c13當時問他:「父母未生前一句作麼生道?」翻盡經本無J27nB198_p0487c14可秪對若不是自解翻身尋箇瞥地處莫道會得祖J27nB198_p0487c15師禪連如來禪也未夢見在德山老人初不識禪J27nB198_p0487c16南方知識有直指人心見性成佛之說遂憤然不平J27nB198_p0487c17青龍疏鈔出遊欲摟碎諸方魔子窠窟推倒宗門J27nB198_p0487c18大老剎竿及到龍潭氣魄喪盡後因吹紙燭光滅J27nB198_p0487c19豁然大徹且焚疏鈔曰:「窮諸玄辨若一毫置於太J27nB198_p0487c20竭世樞機似一滴投于巨壑。」可謂珍寶滿船遇長J27nB198_p0487c21風而到岸也自爾鋒辯峻捷多用棒喝接機今人縱J27nB198_p0487c22或棄教參禪多不能撥轉向上關捩蓋錯認如來禪J27nB198_p0487c23以為極則者又安得如二老似透網金鱗不墮漁人J27nB198_p0487c24之手乎所以病在鹵莽不肯求人決擇雖高標自許J27nB198_p0487c25終類犛牛愛尾不到古人境界究竟何所成歟若果J27nB198_p0487c26掀翻徹底得箇大慶快處此人出頭地來斷勝枯禪J27nB198_p0487c27百倍然自負者多可惜耳

話頭禪

何謂話頭禪上代祖師雖不曾明白教人看話頭起J27nB198_p0487c30疑情然彼時禪宗方興其傳法之士多圓機利智J27nB198_p0488a01入此道如香象渡河截流而過亦如大富長者將盡J27nB198_p0488a02底家財付與當家之子兩手分付接得便行更不消J27nB198_p0488a03費許多叮囑教伊生受昔百丈被馬祖一喝直得三J27nB198_p0488a04日耳聾黃檗聞舉便吐舌悟去貴在能明大機大用J27nB198_p0488a05方為克紹箕裘故遇人則途中授與不遇人則終身J27nB198_p0488a06緘嘿所以針芥相投必須機理齊契師資道合方能J27nB198_p0488a07敲唱俱行後來法久弊生根器漸劣承當大事罕遇J27nB198_p0488a08全鋒制勝之人龍象蹴踏非驢駑之所能堪矣今人J27nB198_p0488a09多自稱有悟門又不信提話頭做工夫底道理J27nB198_p0488a10人自生兩翅翀舉便笑他著草鞋走千里枉受奔波J27nB198_p0488a11不及其身輕有翼能追飛鳥是豈通論也哉圓悟老J27nB198_p0488a12人謂妙喜曰:「不疑言句是為大病。」故疑有十分則悟J27nB198_p0488a13有十分又古德云:「不疑不悟。」長慶坐破蒲團七箇J27nB198_p0488a14是疑此事悟此事者也香林四十年打成一片趙州J27nB198_p0488a15三十年不雜用心亦是疑此事悟此事者也所以尊J27nB198_p0488a16宿道:「今人非但不善悟要亦不善疑。」彼不信有疑情J27nB198_p0488a17可起者是決不知有悟門可入也余初看話頭無所J27nB198_p0488a18及乎疑情發起如大闡提漢提把刀要殺人放火J27nB198_p0488a19相似因請益先師師曰:「直須殺盡燒盡敢保大事了J27nB198_p0488a20。」予從此信及日有趣向處時有僧問:「和尚秪今作J27nB198_p0488a21麼生?」答曰:「瀾漫春光無影像柳條穿起拂東風。」

業識禪

何謂業識謂禪人雖欲參究此道不曾做死心工夫J27nB198_p0488a24將自本命元辰如生冤家相似刻苦勵志從頭整J27nB198_p0488a25頓一番故無明習氣時時發現所以貪慾嗔恚好樂J27nB198_p0488a26等事乃學道人之蟊賊欲斷而偏熾好正而固邪J27nB198_p0488a27繇積劫熏染此等情弊惡覺在八識田中根深蒂固J27nB198_p0488a28卒未易能拔又或秉質軟弱者思欲聳壑昂霄不勝J27nB198_p0488a29夫懦夫之態賦性剛戾者擬學慈和柔順時復現修J27nB198_p0488a30羅之相或掉舉心多把捉不定或調戲意重放逸難J27nB198_p0488b01心裏明明知得如此過患雖痛自懲艾無可奈J27nB198_p0488b02諺云:「山河易改稟性難移。」《楞嚴:「理雖頓悟事假J27nB198_p0488b03漸除。」正謂此業識心不是小小神通容易奈何所以J27nB198_p0488b04古人參禪得力處正要將這奈何不得底奈何得下J27nB198_p0488b05纔見工夫有神驗若一向恣肆不顧任其生滅流注J27nB198_p0488b06轉變不常便是被業識使安能使得業識耶必須靈J27nB198_p0488b07符到手雖造化繇我斡旋還如大冶烹金因煆煉愈J27nB198_p0488b08加光彩妙在融化此箇氣質自然轉物為道若真正J27nB198_p0488b09參究之士用心激切此般若智力如大火聚何蚊蚋J27nB198_p0488b10而敢洎薪草而得存乎僧問梁山老祖云:「家賊難防J27nB198_p0488b11時如何?」山云:「識得不為冤。」進云:「識得後如何?」山云:「J27nB198_p0488b12向無生國裏。」進云:「莫是他安身立命處也無?」山云:「J27nB198_p0488b13水不藏龍。」進云:「如何是活水裏龍?」山云:「興波不作浪。」J27nB198_p0488b14進云:「忽遇傾湫倒嶽時如何?」山下座握手云:「闍黎莫J27nB198_p0488b15教濕老僧袈裟角。」靈利漢向這裏全身領荷得去J27nB198_p0488b16若有向伊道這箇喚作業識便可驀面唾何故虎口J27nB198_p0488b17何妨飛活雀龍門正待躍華鯨

俊秀禪

何謂俊秀以禪者有天資聰敏氣宇明茂論其學可J27nB198_p0488b20以窮汗牛充棟之富觀其神有水壺秋水之朗具此J27nB198_p0488b21美質豈不謂之英標衲子乎然惜乎不肯努力辦道J27nB198_p0488b22向門外打野梩或有愛明窗淨几惟耽於染翰操觚J27nB198_p0488b23或有修邊幅儀容受用些清福樂事養成驕惰玩劇J27nB198_p0488b24光陰用志既無臥薪嘗膽之苦操心豈若封衾轉枕J27nB198_p0488b25之憂所以乏經久遠大謀猷秪忻小效罕見全成J27nB198_p0488b26世俊秀子弟秪一措大青衿便沾沾自足更不思巍J27nB198_p0488b27科高擢以圖發軔至有心極靈利一切祖佛言教舉J27nB198_p0488b28起如會以人品清秀故煩惱無明亦稍爾輕微其視J27nB198_p0488b29見道也似乎容易求其徹法底蘊與事理相應則不J27nB198_p0488b30勝矛盾之病況堪砥柱法門乎如人愛惜琉璃缾子J27nB198_p0488c01喜其晶瑩皎潔忽欲與伊捏破便捨不得以有寶重J27nB198_p0488c02之心在也故參禪無決烈底志氣學道無猛利底心J27nB198_p0488c03毒氣未能攻出命根不曾嚗斷若趁入水牯牛隊J27nB198_p0488c04便不解向異類中行所以道若無舉鼎拔山力J27nB198_p0488c05里烏騅不易騎。」何也芝蘭玉樹止可榮堂陛之觀J27nB198_p0488c06為佛法棟梁必當盡力擴充具翻轉乾坤手段始得J27nB198_p0488c07不然法華授記作佛尚在遠劫倒被廣額屠兒占J27nB198_p0488c08第一座也

椎魯禪

何謂椎魯以禪者多有根性遲鈍語言蹇澀與之語J27nB198_p0488c11死工夫輒容易信及若談向上關捩一著事存函蓋J27nB198_p0488c12理應箭鋒拄便不知是何境界蓋其有一味誠實J27nB198_p0488c13之心醇樸太過或情執膠固不能圓活故雖提話頭J27nB198_p0488c14參究奈癡著心重盡力抖不下耳必須奮求利智伺J27nB198_p0488c15察機宜磨其昏斤其滯解其黏輟出其依倚自然胸J27nB198_p0488c16襟廓蕩妙運無方斫倒繫驢之橛神駿不羈撥轉走J27nB198_p0488c17盤之珠石人拊掌到此境界雖終日放憨放癡無可J27nB198_p0488c18不可尚匪利鈍可及此乃大智若愚非真愚也

文物禪

何謂文物有等秪從文字中尋究義路心力柔弱J27nB198_p0488c21魄不偉或因最初做得細膩工夫便喜純粹精密J27nB198_p0488c22為圓悟如儒者認惟微一貫之旨極為精妙便為微J27nB198_p0488c23細纔是真脈麤重則非余嘗見一居士快論此義J27nB198_p0488c24笑曰:「昔盤山入市見屠兒操刀有買肉者曰:『精底割J27nB198_p0488c25一斤來!』屠兒遂釋刀手云:『你道那一些不是精底?』J27nB198_p0488c26盤山豁然省悟。」似此可博居士一粲苟能具擇法眼J27nB198_p0488c27揀辨明白則知麤中有細不可以麤重而獨喻其旨J27nB198_p0488c28當細中有麤不可以微細而專探其賾又麤中極麤J27nB198_p0488c29無別細細中極細無別麤向此套數裏熟諳步驟J27nB198_p0488c30後精麤同致方為究竟妙道矣不然則打入陰界區J27nB198_p0489a01墮在精妙窠窟古德云:「知解入微不名見道。」故謂J27nB198_p0489a02之文物禪者以其血脈深細無有力用也

道者禪

何謂道者禪蓋真正道學者應不拘執其操守自有J27nB198_p0489a05一種磊落氣象超放時便自謹飾委曲處又挺勁J27nB198_p0489a06雖不泥于道學亦不離于道學其不得道學之妙者J27nB198_p0489a07不帶些迂闊便著少矜持或動輒牽經引史印證玄J27nB198_p0489a08又有一等裝就道學模樣邀人稱譽道學之士是J27nB198_p0489a09豈當然雖然時當末法求一真實抱道衲子如星中J27nB198_p0489a10揀月湛堂云:「祖庭秋晚林下人不為輕囂者固自難J27nB198_p0489a11。」審如是秪今邪風遍地訛態襲人禪道無復取重J27nB198_p0489a12要尋一兩箇假道學禪出來也絕少何故彼雖未極J27nB198_p0489a13透脫即人品莊重幾分亦足鎮亹亹頹俗之風然責J27nB198_p0489a14備求全正在此輩

何謂三教有等多智好學喜作世間通人將三教墳J27nB198_p0489a17典都簡閱幾過錯綜義理無所不窺然多有博而不J27nB198_p0489a18精強異為同不能深入堂奧或將經傳相似之說穿J27nB198_p0489a19鑿禪理或援宗教向上之語筌解老莊是皆情識比J27nB198_p0489a20量非為究竟乃最初欲撮集三家奇緒以成廣學J27nB198_p0489a21過逞英明博取一時虛譽耳所以善為道學者J27nB198_p0489a22先從一門深入然後百千法門無不洞徹又豈止三J27nB198_p0489a23教而蓋心地明白如握秦宮玉鏡照見群僚肺J27nB198_p0489a24彼千古聖賢奧域悉是吾心鏡中影像佛不云乎J27nB198_p0489a25制之一處無事不辦。」好博而不精者病在雜用心耳

何謂效顰有一等未到真實悟處或蹈襲古人陳跡J27nB198_p0489a28或竊取先德言句假裝虛頭套數賣弄古怪行藏J27nB198_p0489a29謂古人如此我亦如此古人在某處得箇脫灑我也J27nB198_p0489a30在某處得箇快活或看拈頌便學替古人翻案或見J27nB198_p0489b01問答便喜鬥轉語機鋒或胡喝亂棒鼓粥飯氣或擎J27nB198_p0489b02拳豎指弄鬼眼睛或機器不逮妄擬德山臨濟之門J27nB198_p0489b03或學識短闇謬闢天台賢首之著述強說幾椿好J27nB198_p0489b04令人傳為行實捏出幾件怪異要令名播諸方J27nB198_p0489b05不知高明賢哲之流皆道全德傋名實俱稱若著意J27nB198_p0489b06摹倣則弄巧成拙因此輩初無實地工夫以虛偽心J27nB198_p0489b07東撈西摸拾別人殘唾視為珍饌描他家影像認作J27nB198_p0489b08阿爺正如西子捧心醜女效其顰耳可不嗤哉或曰J27nB198_p0489b09道不師古孰為指南今若鄙其效尤禪人將何取則?」J27nB198_p0489b10余曰:「形骸之學去古愈遠善師古人者妙在法法印J27nB198_p0489b11心不泥其轍若不得其精神融貫徒以彷彿依違J27nB198_p0489b12無所補如解做賊人不露些子贓證纔有手段也。」

何謂空洞有等天性虛曠物不留情故眼界空闊J27nB198_p0489b15不見有圭角可露胸次乾淨中不見有城府可窺J27nB198_p0489b16來張口倦來倒床認著箇赤裸裸淨灑灑一段光景J27nB198_p0489b17便為了事若與語從上祖佛閫奧一切玄妙關鍵J27nB198_p0489b18掉頭不顧了沒交涉可謂空空一鄙夫耳豈知古人J27nB198_p0489b19:「無為無事人猶是金鎖難?」蓋此事直須知有若不J27nB198_p0489b20知有如人處安閒自在境界綽爾有餘忽有人從屋J27nB198_p0489b21背後殺將來震撼連天手無寸刃卒莫禦敵其人不J27nB198_p0489b22遭攘劫之患者幾希蓋平日不知有而安閒故臨機J27nB198_p0489b23縱奪不能應變多有錯認六祖道本來無一物何處J27nB198_p0489b24惹塵埃等語執以為病遂不服藥殊不知祖師實怕J27nB198_p0489b25人落在空見乃闢曰:「不見一法存無見大似浮雲遮J27nB198_p0489b26日面不知一法守空知還如太虛生閃電此之知見J27nB198_p0489b27瞥然興錯認何曾解方便?」今愚昧之人多起此病J27nB198_p0489b28作墮坑落塹不遇真知識用打破虛空底手段施煆J27nB198_p0489b29煉生鐵鉗鎚未免流入空見魔網橫生邪解一切佛J27nB198_p0489b30事因果掃蕩空無毀斥殆盡恰似箇破糞箕禿掃帚J27nB198_p0489c01底精怪出世卒不可救也悲夫

何謂俊快此謂靈利衲僧善通機變纔聞舉著宗乘J27nB198_p0489c04下事其精思敏速趠得便行閃爍機如掣電把攔不J27nB198_p0489c05飄忽眼似流星惟恐鈍置喪鋒死在別人手裏J27nB198_p0489c06有問答更不遲疑忖度衝口即說或進門便喝一聲J27nB198_p0489c07逢人揕胸要你速道速道稍若失利就擘口築你一J27nB198_p0489c08攔腮摑你三掌一向以為奇特自謂迅捷無比J27nB198_p0489c09等意智雖有幾分明利性習帶一種輕囂如快鷂J27nB198_p0489c10衝天捉他不得赤鯉擺尾活動難當然火性躁急不J27nB198_p0489c11能耐久持煩故參禪未能深入理性但資狂見看教J27nB198_p0489c12未必剖析幽徹秪成涉獵學問未能窮極淵源巧于J27nB198_p0489c13剽竊人品未必堪作模範近于流俗苟不肯虛心改J27nB198_p0489c14過折節求師業識未能陶鎔實際無從造詣縱得箇J27nB198_p0489c15粥飯因緣牽強為人原無含蓄氣象不惟無補于教J27nB198_p0489c16亦恐有招于禍辱惟識法者懼定不鹵莽耳昔洛J27nB198_p0489c17浦機鋒俊快人莫敢當臨濟嘗對眾稱之後來撞遇J27nB198_p0489c18夾山方入虀甕裏淹殺佛果當時不識演祖何等倔J27nB198_p0489c19大慧不見圓悟命根不斷後來聲光赫奕皆師勝J27nB198_p0489c20資強之力所以鉗鎚之下器器成金秪如唐宋J27nB198_p0489c21宗匠紛出多正法眼豈謂今日大唐國裏獨無禪師J27nB198_p0489c22蓋何代無才何人非品惟伯樂不遇即良驥亦服J27nB198_p0489c23鹽車王良在御雖駑駘皆可遠駕實以師法相成J27nB198_p0489c24令世無乏賢耳不然雖有上根利智亦未免為入爨J27nB198_p0489c25之焦桐切泥之利劍可不惜哉或問曰:「機鋒快捷方J27nB198_p0489c26稱英俊衲僧今獨裁而抑之豈非壓良為賤耶?」余曰J27nB198_p0489c27非也雪堂云:『爪牙欲其利肘臂欲其重非重無以權J27nB198_p0489c28衡佛祖非利無以開拓人天。』故密師伯見一白兔走J27nB198_p0489c29過曰:『俊哉恰似白衣拜相。』洞山不然之乃云:『積代簪J27nB198_p0489c30暫時落魄。』所以不知奉重者一味趁俊便不好也。」

擔版禪

何謂擔版若禪者悟非洞達見不圓融秪會得自J27nB198_p0490a03不會祖佛機單明空劫事不識賓主句秪知法身J27nB198_p0490a04邊是枯樁不知法身向上非枯樁也或有繫心在境J27nB198_p0490a05多執事而迷理有沈思空寂惟順理而廢事情存取J27nB198_p0490a06見處偏枯古德云:「一法若有毘盧墮在凡夫萬法J27nB198_p0490a07若無普賢失其境界。」又有為雖假棄之則佛道難成J27nB198_p0490a08無為雖真執之則慧性不朗皆此等人之偏癖病耳J27nB198_p0490a09故參究用心多滯于一邊如今要治此病除是踢倒J27nB198_p0490a10須彌吸乾滄海坐斷毘盧頂上橫行荊棘林中通身J27nB198_p0490a11活眼始可與雪峰擔版漢相見不然秪作徐六擔版J27nB198_p0490a12不干雪峰事

猶豫禪

何謂猶豫此謂禪者疑情不決見處不明心中未有J27nB198_p0490a15穩當平日不曾猛向實際理地打徹一迴秪以識心J27nB198_p0490a16揣度故現前瞥爾相似及轉腦又覺光景不同所以J27nB198_p0490a17腔次熒惑了無主宰欲作恁麼解會不敢承當不作J27nB198_p0490a18恁麼解會別無趣向進無新證退失故居學人當此J27nB198_p0490a19境界未免狐疑滿肚懊惱迷悶正如路到中途艱險J27nB198_p0490a20之處火坑燄前豺虎逼後左列刀兵右叢荊棘真箇J27nB198_p0490a21憂惶無措直須不顧危亡撒手懸崖之下翻身絕壑J27nB198_p0490a22之中如靈雲見桃花便悟打破疑團無一業惑而不J27nB198_p0490a23冰消瓦解此回方到不疑之地耳不然則被見思無J27nB198_p0490a24明等惑如紙裏麻纏剝了一重又一重直饒淨盡無J27nB198_p0490a25敢保老兄未徹在何故眼花山影轉依舊路迷人J27nB198_p0490a26或曰:「此等惑心何時可止?」余曰:「千峰勢到嶽邊盡J27nB198_p0490a27派聲歸海上消。」:「恁麼即是不疑之地耶?」:「待骨爛J27nB198_p0490a28皮銷即向汝道。」
