敘
J39nB461_p0747a02中州學浮屠法者曰何一禪師,早于大梁諸剎中稱J39nB461_p0747a03健出,既而遊上國,行逾高,名逾起,其披剃、聽經、受戒J39nB461_p0747a04不一師。而其宗門之師曰性空禪師,遠自臨濟,近接J39nB461_p0747a05天童,授受之際,歷歷可數,所謂大善知識,得禪定智J39nB461_p0747a06慧者也。予與性空禪師無覿面之緣,而以同里雅與J39nB461_p0747a07何一遊,何一攜所梓性空禪師語錄屬予敘其首,予J39nB461_p0747a08曰:「宗門奉達磨為鼻祖,達磨西來,欲掃除一切文字,J39nB461_p0747a09直指人心,見性成佛,則此纍纍卷帙,在性空禪師已J39nB461_p0747a10為剩語,而又何有于敘?得無畫蛇添足耶?」何一曰:「佛J39nB461_p0747a11入涅槃,阿難傳佛語為經,流行天竺,遂及東土。蓋弟J39nB461_p0747a12子記錄師訓,自古而然,今雖不敢以拈花微笑自擬,J39nB461_p0747a13而師弟顯有授受,既承其誨,不可不永其傳。居士其J39nB461_p0747a14敘之毋辭。」予于言下見何一之不昧師傳,而因以嘆J39nB461_p0747a15性空禪師知人之明也。性空一瓶一缽,數千里渡江J39nB461_p0747a16北來,擇付法之人,爾時聞聲而慕,踵門而謁者百千J39nB461_p0747a17焉,獨有契于何一,解缽而授。何一恪遵其指,大闡宗J39nB461_p0747a18風,于今梓其語錄,傳之無窮,性空禪師且以不歿,可J39nB461_p0747a19不謂擇人得人,能具一隻眼乎?能具眼者,自能具舌,J39nB461_p0747a20語錄所載,當為無上妙諦無疑。不知其言視其識,不J39nB461_p0747a21知其師視其弟子,予于語錄,不待讀之畢而可得其J39nB461_p0747a22概也。顧予所能言者,彝倫日用之常,修己治人之務,J39nB461_p0747a23而于禪機變幻不即不離之界,自覺舌本木強,無可J39nB461_p0747a24舉似。茲之敘也,聊以代述其授梓之始末云爾。

性空禪師語錄敘
J39nB461_p0747b02自有天地以來,立教者亦不一矣,然必有至真至實J39nB461_p0747b03者寓於中,而後歷意萬年而不毀,否則不轉瞬即以J39nB461_p0747b04敗廢,求其如薪傳火相續不絕,必無之事也。粵達磨J39nB461_p0747b05西來,佛法入中國久矣,雖有時而顯,有時而晦,而實J39nB461_p0747b06無時而滅。大意則不立文字,直指人心,無非恐人於J39nB461_p0747b07聞見上卜度、識解上承當,反將自己空如止水、照如J39nB461_p0747b08明鏡一段本地風光,不能從內打出,埋沒性靈,故欲J39nB461_p0747b09去其偽存其真、去其虛存其實也。若然,就佛言佛,則J39nB461_p0747b10文字乃障道之門,而八萬四千枝葉、一千七百葛藤,J39nB461_p0747b11謂之有文字乎?謂之無文字乎?有時謂之有文字也J39nB461_p0747b12得,謂之無文字也得,謂之有文字無文字總得;有時J39nB461_p0747b13謂之有文字也不得,謂之無文字也不得,謂之有文J39nB461_p0747b14字無文字總不得。苟非大過來人,具有隻眼,正未許J39nB461_p0747b15著一語耳。

J39nB461_p0748a04順治辛丑年,欽命正黃旗將軍李公,同銓部李瑤圃、J39nB461_p0748a05司理葉嵋初、太史徐彥禾,暨闔邑紳衿,請就本院開J39nB461_p0748a06堂。至法座前,拈請啟云:「文含玉露,炳日月之光華;宇J39nB461_p0748a07挾清霜,吐山川之瑞氣。若要句下分明,且聽維那宣J39nB461_p0748a08讀。」宣畢,師云:「毘盧頂,華王座,自古人登能幾個?吾今J39nB461_p0748a09指出上頭關,鶻眼龍睛休錯過。且問諸人:還識上頭J39nB461_p0748a10關麼?」良久,云:「高著眼。」便陞座。拈香,云:「此一瓣香,明同J39nB461_p0748a11日月,德合乾坤,爇向爐中,端為祝延今上J39nB461_p0748a12皇帝聖躬萬歲萬萬歲,伏願金輪御世,恒為有道之J39nB461_p0748a13君;玉樹臨春,永振無為之化。」次拈香,云:「此一瓣香,奉J39nB461_p0748a14為允文允武、乃忠乃孝、滿朝勳貴、合邑縉紳,暨本邑J39nB461_p0748a15宰官、欽命正黃旗固山李,伏願般若智洞明如日,菩J39nB461_p0748a16提心增長如苗。此一瓣香,太白山前腳跟點地,語溪J39nB461_p0748a17橋畔得路還家,專為先住天童、後住徑山,傳臨濟正J39nB461_p0748a18宗第三十一世上費下隱容老和尚,用酬法乳之恩。」J39nB461_p0748a19斂衣就座。維那白椎,云:「法筵龍象眾,當觀第一義。」師J39nB461_p0748a20云:「藍田射石虎,神機莫測;迅矢貫雙鵰,未稱作家。眾J39nB461_p0748a21中者有單刀直入者,出來與老僧相見。」僧問:「黃檗大J39nB461_p0748a22用,拈提格外玄機;趙老家風,指出庭前柏樹。今日祝J39nB461_p0748a23國開堂,師以何法示人?」師云:「棒頭有眼明如日。」進云:J39nB461_p0748a24「驚群俊鶻自解翻身,衝浪金鱗如何接待?」師云:「一網J39nB461_p0748a25收下。」進云:「撥開曉霧千峰秀,選佛場中及第歸。」師云:J39nB461_p0748a26「正好喫棒。」僧一喝,師便打。問:「立宗旨開選佛場,烹麟J39nB461_p0748a27鳳焰發紅爐。如何是立宗旨的句?」師云:「棒喝交馳,不J39nB461_p0748a28容擬議。」進云:「一句無私,人天莫測。」師云:「作麼生是無J39nB461_p0748a29私句?」僧便喝,師便打。進云:「幾乎放過。」師云:「腳跟下更J39nB461_p0748a30加三十。」居士問:「不問心空及第,如何是遞代傳燈?」師J39nB461_p0748b01云:「靈山指月,曹溪話月。」士禮拜,云:「謝師指示。」師打,云:J39nB461_p0748b02「還見月麼?」乃云:「禪宗妙旨,豈落言詮?道本無傳,非從J39nB461_p0748b03外得,貴在當人自悟。所以,昔日世尊於雪山六年苦J39nB461_p0748b04行,子夜睹星,忽然大悟,云:『奇哉!一切眾生俱有如來J39nB461_p0748b05智慧德相,但因妄想執著不能證得。』大似禍入不慎J39nB461_p0748b06之家。到涅槃會上拈花示眾,覿體全提,唯迦葉老頭J39nB461_p0748b07陀裂破面門,故世尊云:『吾有正法眼藏、涅槃妙心,付J39nB461_p0748b08囑摩訶迦葉以廣流傳。』正是事因叮囑,殃及兒孫。所J39nB461_p0748b09以,此事人人本有,個個不無。廣額屠兒放下屠刀,云:J39nB461_p0748b10『我是千佛一數。』斯真丈夫氣概。」復舉:「僧問雲門:『如何J39nB461_p0748b11是和尚家風?』門云:『門前有讀書人來報。』」師云:「雲門老J39nB461_p0748b12漢恁麼荅話,雖是斯文一契,若問山僧,但向他道:『閉J39nB461_p0748b13門打睡,接上上機。』且道與古人是同?是別?試甄別看。」J39nB461_p0748b14便下座。
J39nB461_p0748b15銓部李瑤圃請上堂。僧問:「昔日普化推倒飯床,未審J39nB461_p0748b16是何意旨?」師云:「全彰大用。」僧便喝,師云:「這田厙奴。」乃J39nB461_p0748b17云:「當陽揮寶劍,揭示佛祖威權;袖裡動金鎚,捩轉衲J39nB461_p0748b18僧巴鼻。放開則錦上鋪花,把住則黃金失色。目前無J39nB461_p0748b19法,塞壑填溝;意在目前,纖毫不立。如來禪、祖師禪,數J39nB461_p0748b20株青柏映晴霞;西來意、東來意,一帶洋江拖白練。若J39nB461_p0748b21向這裏會得,不妨草枯鷹眼疾、葉落鴈聲幽;其或未J39nB461_p0748b22然,此時風頭稍硬,且歸暖處商量。」
J39nB461_p0748b23上堂。僧問:「玉虹橋鴉鳴鵲噪,選佛場擊鼓敲鐘,賓主J39nB461_p0748b24相逢一句請師指示。」師云:「露柱笑掀眉。」進云:「如何是J39nB461_p0748b25主中賓?」師云:「藍田射石虎。」「如何是賓中主?」師云:「夫子J39nB461_p0748b26入太廟。」「如何是賓中賓?」師云:「月下覓歸程。」「如何是主J39nB461_p0748b27中主?」師云:「當軒日卓午。」進云:「賓主已蒙師指示,如何J39nB461_p0748b28是和尚為人處?」師云:「棒頭薦取。」進云:「一片虛凝絕偽J39nB461_p0748b29情,萬里清光飛玉兔。」師云:「非汝境界。」問:「世尊初生,手J39nB461_p0748b30指天地,雲門云:『一棒打殺。』也是賊過後張弓。未審和J39nB461_p0748c01尚如何分析?」師云:「雲門即今在甚麼處?」僧禮拜,云:「在J39nB461_p0748c02這裏。」師劈脊一棒,云:「也好打殺與狗子喫。」居士問:「古J39nB461_p0748c03者道:『出門便是草。』意旨如何?」師云:「看腳下。」士進前一J39nB461_p0748c04步,師云:「再進一步看。」士退後,師云:「起模畫樣。」士云:「恁J39nB461_p0748c05麼則獨唱胡笳曲,誰人和得齊?」師震威一喝,乃云:「欲J39nB461_p0748c06行千里,一步為初,若與麼去,灼然先行不到、末後太J39nB461_p0748c07過,只成世諦流傳,未知有祖師門下事在。今日承諸J39nB461_p0748c08龐老到此選佛,特請舉揚個事,殊不知未陞座已前J39nB461_p0748c09早為諸人和盤托出了也。還委悉麼?迥迥聲前一路,J39nB461_p0748c10黃面瞿曇難措足;明明百草頭邊,碧眼胡僧謾著眼。J39nB461_p0748c11不是心、不是物,五目莫睹;名不得、狀不得,四辯難窮。J39nB461_p0748c12正所謂:古佛堂前曾無異說,流通句內誠有多談,得J39nB461_p0748c13之者妙用無虧,失之者觸途成滯。且道:正恁麼時,主J39nB461_p0748c14賓會合、聲氣相投一句又作麼生道?有意氣時添意J39nB461_p0748c15氣,不風流處也風流。」下座。
J39nB461_p0748c16上堂。舉外道問世尊不問有言無言公案,師云:「諸人J39nB461_p0748c17若向世尊良久處會得,許汝與外道同參;其或未然,J39nB461_p0748c18良馬已隨鞭影去,韓盧猶覓舊枯樁。」卓拄杖,下座。

相一喝云:「波羅提尊者來也,云:『在胎為身,處世名J39nB461_p0749a04人,在眼曰見,在耳曰聞,在鼻嗅香,在舌談論,在手執J39nB461_p0749a05捉,在足運奔。遍現俱該沙界,收攝在一微塵。識者謂J39nB461_p0749a06是佛性,不識喚作精魂。』且道佛性精魂又如何甄別?」J39nB461_p0749a07又作
相喝一喝云:「妙喜大師來也,道:『昨日夜叉頭,J39nB461_p0749a08今朝菩薩面。菩薩與夜叉,不隔一條線。』已上三位尊J39nB461_p0749a09者為諸人說法已竟,各駕祥雲向諸人腳跟下過去。J39nB461_p0749a10山僧今亦有一道真言,不免為諸人拈出。」復作此○J39nB461_p0749a11相云:「不是心,不是物,動地驚天轟霹靂。趙州參見老J39nB461_p0749a12南泉,解道鎮州出蘿蔔。」建大佛殿,上堂。云:「教中道:『於一毛端現寶王剎,坐微J39nB461_p0749a14塵裡轉大法輪。』若恁麼,則不用丈木寸釘,瓊樓寶殿J39nB461_p0749a15早已完備,又說什麼開基闢址、搬磚弄瓦,然後方為J39nB461_p0749a16建造?雖然如是,法無事而不彰,道無言而不顯。所以,J39nB461_p0749a17眾檀揮金建寶王剎,山僧豈可不轉大法輪?且道:應J39nB461_p0749a18時及節一句又作麼生道?」卓拄杖,云:「權借香山許多J39nB461_p0749a19料,斧斤揮處煥然新。」
J39nB461_p0749a20上堂。僧問:「盡大地是個沙門眼,還假修證否?」師豎拂J39nB461_p0749a21子,云:「不可喚作拂子。」僧一喝,師云:「這一喝未有主宰。」J39nB461_p0749a22進云:「出我口,入師耳,且道明什麼邊事?」師便打。進云:J39nB461_p0749a23「某甲到這裏直得寒毛卓豎。」師云:「大膽衝突過,小膽J39nB461_p0749a24告所由。」乃云:「祖意西來百草頭,佛法遍在一切處,諸J39nB461_p0749a25人若肯自承當,何用叨叨重指註?若與麼,無差互;不J39nB461_p0749a26與麼,成賺誤。法法頭頭,隨機顯露,信得及、把得住,誰J39nB461_p0749a27能出不由戶?信不及、把不住,不免為伊重指出。水自J39nB461_p0749a28綠兮山自青,天自高兮地自厚,溪邊衰草發萌芽,嶺J39nB461_p0749a29畔寒梅香欲吐。且正恁麼時,獨脫無依一句又作麼J39nB461_p0749a30生道?」震威一喝,云:「臨濟大師道:『我有時一喝如金剛J39nB461_p0749b01王寶劍、有時一喝如踞地獅子、有時一喝如探竿影J39nB461_p0749b02草、有時一喝不作一喝用。』臨濟四喝不出適來山僧J39nB461_p0749b03這一喝,山僧這一喝能入臨濟四喝,有殺、有活,有照、J39nB461_p0749b04有用。汝等諸人還委悉麼?」良久,云:「三汲浪高魚化龍,J39nB461_p0749b05癡人猶戽夜塘水。」下座。
J39nB461_p0749b06新建韋馱殿落成,固山郭太夫人率公子超慶請上J39nB461_p0749b07堂。問答不錄。乃云:「本地風光,非男女相;向外馳求,自J39nB461_p0749b08生迷障。若恁麼去,猶是半提。殊不知法身無相,即相J39nB461_p0749b09明真;道本無言,因言顯理。黃鶯啼綠柳,白鷺立青筠,J39nB461_p0749b10漁翁磯上擲釣拋綸,蠶婦桑間尋枝摘葉,靈雲覿面J39nB461_p0749b11悟桃花,大慧薰風來殿閣,頭頭不昧,物物分明。所以J39nB461_p0749b12道:『居一切時不起妄念,於諸妄心亦不息滅;住妄想J39nB461_p0749b13境不加了知,於無了知不辯真實。』若到恁麼田地,方J39nB461_p0749b14知釋迦老子指天指地,唯我獨尊,皆吾心之常分,非J39nB461_p0749b15假於他術。今日韋馱殿告成,山僧陞座,且道如何慶J39nB461_p0749b16讚?常來此地作金湯,原是靈山親授記。」
J39nB461_p0749b17大殿工圓,請佛陞座,上堂。云:「闢荒成大業於一毛端,J39nB461_p0749b18插草便為標在微塵裏,不是神通妙用,亦非法爾如J39nB461_p0749b19然,揮金滴玉,全藉遠近檀波。今辰恭請紫金之身,權J39nB461_p0749b20就草敷之座,懸花結彩,撾鼓陞堂,儼然一會靈山,永J39nB461_p0749b21慶千秋,直今見者聞者共獲禎祥,施力施財同增福J39nB461_p0749b22算。雖然如是,須知有恁麼人方明恁麼事。」以拂子打J39nB461_p0749b23此[○@(、/(、*、))]相,顧視左右,震威一喝,下座。
J39nB461_p0749b24佛成道日,上堂。云:「崔巍聳峭,衝開碧落之虛;古木垂J39nB461_p0749b25陰,遙接連河之路。阿蘭若處莫藏身,檀特山中留不J39nB461_p0749b26住,擬棲雪壑,弗住王宮,棄萬乘之尊榮,脫累生之羈J39nB461_p0749b27鎖,大忘人世,高蹈佛階,瑞草結而就石為床,祥風吹J39nB461_p0749b28而移雲作蓋,仙蘆穿膝,靈鳥巢頭,聊將馬麥塞飢腸,J39nB461_p0749b29一任冰霜寒徹骨。所以道:天將降大任於是人,必先J39nB461_p0749b30苦其心志、勞其筋骨、餓其體膚,然後為人天標榜。直J39nB461_p0749c01得嶺梅發笑、洞草回春,定起巖前星輝子夜,披雲月J39nB461_p0749c02下歎奇哉,一度掀眉天地開。今日山僧與麼舉揚,大J39nB461_p0749c03似因齋慶讚。敢問諸人:還見釋迦老子麼?其或未然,J39nB461_p0749c04更聽一偈:雪山凍餓事如麻,子夜星輝眼著沙,若道J39nB461_p0749c05老胡行履處,果然苦哉佛陀耶?」
J39nB461_p0749c06康熙元年元旦上堂。拈香云:「元正啟祚,萬物咸新,駕J39nB461_p0749c07御百僚,位登九五,端為J39nB461_p0749c08當今新主皇帝聖躬萬歲。」斂衣就座,乃云:「龍飛北闕,J39nB461_p0749c09人人賀不盡之春;鶴舞南山,個個慶無窮之算。嵩呼J39nB461_p0749c10壽嶽,花頌椒盤,重輝少室未殘燈,突出扶桑新杲日。J39nB461_p0749c11行見德布堯年,泰和舜世,五穀豐登,萬民樂業。且祝J39nB461_p0749c12聖一句又作麼生道?」良久,云:「不得重說偈言。」便下座。
J39nB461_p0749c13師誕日,上堂。云:「自幼為僧少讀書,陞堂多是強支吾,J39nB461_p0749c14而今耳順年來也,贏得虛名上祖圖。」喝一喝,下座。
J39nB461_p0749c15元宵,解制,上堂。僧問:「把臂臨期即不問,如何是當觀J39nB461_p0749c16第一義?」師豎拂子。進云:「有一種人高掛缽囊、緊俏草J39nB461_p0749c17鞋又作麼生?」師云:「腳跟須爽快。」進呈坐具,顧大眾,云:J39nB461_p0749c18「某甲今日也須應個時節。」師云:「快走,快走。」一僧出,豎J39nB461_p0749c19拳,云:「把住也,滴水滴凍。」開拳,云:「放行也,倒嶽傾湫。某J39nB461_p0749c20甲今日倒嶽傾湫去也,和尚向甚處著腳?」師云:「學得J39nB461_p0749c21泥鰍法,便來較活龍。」僧擬進語,師連棒打出,乃云:「去J39nB461_p0749c22年十月十五結,把斷要津誰敢越?百煉黃金鑄鐵牛,J39nB461_p0749c23燈籠露柱眉愁絕。今年正月十五解,放開線道特瀟J39nB461_p0749c24洒,東西南北任縱橫,踏破草鞋還自買。去者去,來者J39nB461_p0749c25來,明窗依舊好安排,離鉤三寸無人道,怎得華亭下J39nB461_p0749c26釣臺?也不來,也不去,腰包畢竟安何處?含元殿裡是J39nB461_p0749c27長安,覓則知君無本據。然更須知得:去去實不去,途J39nB461_p0749c28中好善為;來來實不來,路上莫虧危。若恁麼掀翻窠J39nB461_p0749c29臼,自在自由,高掛缽囊,隨緣放曠,雷鳴蟄戶,家家慶J39nB461_p0749c30賀元宵,泰運春回,處處村歌社舞,孤峰頂上月白風J39nB461_p0750a01清,十字街頭銀花火樹,遊人賞不夜之燈,野老唱無J39nB461_p0750a02生之曲。如是,則街頭巷尾、酒肆茶房,閒坐笑談、咳唾J39nB461_p0750a03掉臂,無不是祖師西來大意。有煩久立。」下座。
J39nB461_p0750a04浴佛日,啟華嚴期,請上堂。「場開選佛,普應群機;會啟J39nB461_p0750a05華嚴,流通奧旨。王剎現毛端之上,法輪轉藏海之中。J39nB461_p0750a06一一樓臺,重重寶鐸。松濤竹籟,悉和梵音;魚吼鐘鳴,J39nB461_p0750a07咸敲滿字。若向這裏會得,塵說、剎說、熾然說無閒歇。J39nB461_p0750a08只如釋迦老子未離兜率,已降王宮;未出母胎,度人J39nB461_p0750a09已畢。畢竟作麼生?更聽一偈:今朝四月八,正是夏初J39nB461_p0750a10頭。堪笑瞿曇老,無端走卻牛。」喝一喝,下座。
J39nB461_p0750a11了念禪德八表,請上堂。僧問:「南山起舞,別顯家風;北J39nB461_p0750a12海騰波,同聲慶讚。且道如何是慶讚一句?」師云:「滴水J39nB461_p0750a13福滄海。」進云:「恁麼則不涉千秋地,壽山亙古今。」師云:J39nB461_p0750a14「微塵壽泰華。」進云:「天上有星皆拱北,人間無水不朝J39nB461_p0750a15東。」師豎拂子,云:「你道這個是東?是西?」進云:「覓火和煙J39nB461_p0750a16得,擔水帶月歸。」師云:「念言語漢。」僧呈具,云:「這個喚作J39nB461_p0750a17言語得麼?」師一喝,僧亦喝,師便打,僧又喝,師又打,乃J39nB461_p0750a18云:「也大差,也大差,不萌枝上結東瓜,拈來搭個毘盧J39nB461_p0750a19印,直得乾坤散彩霞。青巒獻翠,年年呈不盡之春;白J39nB461_p0750a20鳥啣花,物物顯無窮之慶。然五嶽雖高,未到須彌之J39nB461_p0750a21頂;百川雖廣,難同者海之涯。多處不可減,少處莫能J39nB461_p0750a22加,蟠桃縱有三千歲,不及恒河半杓沙。所以道:豁開J39nB461_p0750a23正法眼,萬古剎那暇。說甚蓬島八仙之壽屋、香山九J39nB461_p0750a24老之年華?直得群英聚聽,合奏胡笳。如此,則可暢飲J39nB461_p0750a25曹山酒,細烹趙老茶,三杯共兩盞,醉得眼瞇麻,笑倒J39nB461_p0750a26靈山老釋迦。又道:今朝了念禪德八秩之壽,特請山J39nB461_p0750a27僧陞座。又作麼生舉揚?欲知此老年多少,卻似閻浮J39nB461_p0750a28葦稻麻。」一喝,下座。
J39nB461_p0750a29開爐,上堂。僧問:「鐘鳴鼓響,人天瞻仰,畢竟和尚以何J39nB461_p0750a30法示人?」師便打。進云:「昔日僧問投子:『如何是大事因J39nB461_p0750b01緣?』子云:『尹司空請山僧開堂。』今日開爐,和尚上堂,如J39nB461_p0750b02何是大事因緣?」師云:「更要老僧說個什麼?」進云:「一句J39nB461_p0750b03迥然超調御,三玄戈甲振叢林。」師云:「也是杓撥聽虛J39nB461_p0750b04聲。」問:「放行也,兵隨印轉;把住也,將逐符行。正當此際,J39nB461_p0750b05且道是放行?是把住?」師云:「我為法王,於法自在。」僧禮J39nB461_p0750b06拜,云:「謝師答話。」師云:「看腳下。」問:「弘宗唱道,如何慶讚?」J39nB461_p0750b07師云:「一言道不盡,拈出好生觀。」進云:「且喜龍行雨至,J39nB461_p0750b08水到成渠,如何是最初一句?」師云:「欲向闍黎道,被舌J39nB461_p0750b09頭礙卻。」僧顧左右,云:「若不當陽問,怎見法王機?」師云:J39nB461_p0750b10「禮拜退。」問:「爐韝新開,鍛凡煉聖,是和尚大機大用,且J39nB461_p0750b11道學人是凡?是聖?」師云:「莫妄想。」進云:「凡聖同源來,審J39nB461_p0750b12還假修證也無?」師云:「不是苦心人不知。」居士問:「選佛J39nB461_p0750b13場中將什麼演出金聲玉振?」師拍禪床一下,士云:「如J39nB461_p0750b14何是第一句?」師震威一喝,士云:「如何是第二句?」師便J39nB461_p0750b15打,士云:「如何是第三句?」師云:「還知痛癢麼?」士云:「今日J39nB461_p0750b16巨鰲在網,和尚還見麼?」師云:「也只是個鰍子。」士拂袖J39nB461_p0750b17歸眾,師云:「看破了也。」乃云:「烹佛煉祖大爐韝,頑銅鈍J39nB461_p0750b18鐵豈容留?鍛凡煉聖惡鉗鎚,美玉精金重鎔過。金毛J39nB461_p0750b19奮返躑之威,俊鶻展沖天之氣,一回徹得,百事如心,J39nB461_p0750b20賓主句覿面相呈,正法眼棒頭點出。只要一椎便就,J39nB461_p0750b21方能慶快平生;更若不假一椎,自然天生意氣。說甚J39nB461_p0750b22臨濟三玄三要承虛接響,洞山五位君臣捕影撈形,J39nB461_p0750b23雪峰毬、禾山鼓點破太虛空,祕魔叉、子湖狗大似文J39nB461_p0750b24官,一管筆猶如武將,千鈞弩一箭中紅心。雖有如此J39nB461_p0750b25神通、如此妙用,究竟將來還有一處未許伊在。且道J39nB461_p0750b26是那一處?」良久,云:「汾陽道底。」復舉:「香嚴頌云:『去年貧,J39nB461_p0750b27未是貧;今年貧,始是貧。去年貧,還有卓錐之地;今年J39nB461_p0750b28貧,錐也無。』後來洞山文和尚別云:『去年富,未是富;今J39nB461_p0750b29年富,始是富。去年富,只有一領黑黲布褊衫;今年富,J39nB461_p0750b30添得一領百衲山水袈裟。歲朝抖擻呈禪眾,實謂風J39nB461_p0750c01流出當家。』」師云:「二大老雖然各展家風,各出手眼,撿J39nB461_p0750c02點將來,摠是嫌貧愛富在。山僧今日要將貧富合同J39nB461_p0750c03一家,貧者依富而營生,富者借貧而得力。去年貧,卻J39nB461_p0750c04是富;今年富,卻是貧。去年貧,卻是富,原有一條孃生J39nB461_p0750c05褲;今年富,卻是貧,貼肉汗衫沒袖襟。晨朝穿向堂前J39nB461_p0750c06舞,笑倒當年上大人。且道笑個什麼?」復云:「可知禮也。」J39nB461_p0750c07下座。
J39nB461_p0750c08上堂。僧問:「昨日晴,萬里無片雲,古人道:『青天也須喫J39nB461_p0750c09棒。』今朝雨,逼塞虛空無剩許,未知選佛門下又如何J39nB461_p0750c10施設?」師云:「上座照顧眉毛。」進云:「有意氣時添意氣,不J39nB461_p0750c11風流處也風流。」師云:「打失汝鼻孔。」問:「賓主相見,意句J39nB461_p0750c12相投。」以坐具打圓相,云:「這個是意,作麼生是句?」師便J39nB461_p0750c13打。僧以兩手相交,云:「只如句意交參是如何?」師又打,J39nB461_p0750c14進便喝,師復打,云:「未信你在。」問:「唱導提綱,紹佛祖之J39nB461_p0750c15遺範;烹麟煆鳳,作後昆之榜樣。只如今日有個出格J39nB461_p0750c16漢子上來,和尚作麼生相見?」師云:「好與三十棒。」問:「大J39nB461_p0750c17地為爐,須彌為炭,佛來佛煆,祖來祖煆,描不成、畫不J39nB461_p0750c18就底,何處下手?」師云:「頂上一鎚也少不得。」進云:「人人J39nB461_p0750c19怕死,物物貪生,因什麼學人喚作無生?」師云:「也知闍J39nB461_p0750c20黎錯會。」進云:「我則不然。」師云:「你又作麼生?」進云:「不圓J39nB461_p0750c21優缽羅華放,只要功勳汗馬收。」師云:「話頭何在?」雪巖J39nB461_p0750c22趙文學問:「欲知佛性義,當觀時節因緣。為甚趙州能J39nB461_p0750c23轉十二時辰?」師揮拂。進云:「照用齊收處,一鏃破三關。」J39nB461_p0750c24師云:「誰向汝道?」進云:「一句當陽人盡望,出群消息少J39nB461_p0750c25人知。」師云:「放過一著。」乃云:「玉峰峰下諸龐老,選佛場J39nB461_p0750c26中各呈巧,妙用神通如許般,尋常日用何曾少?笛吹J39nB461_p0750c27無孔韻鏗鏘,琴操沒絃聲窕窈,來與山僧較短長,輕J39nB461_p0750c28輕一捏便休了。不見道:通人分上,豈用多端?」復舉:「甘J39nB461_p0750c29贄行者到南泉,設粥云:『請和尚念誦。』泉喚維那:『與狸J39nB461_p0750c30奴白牯念摩訶般若波羅蜜。』者拂袖便出。須臾,問維J39nB461_p0751a01那:『行者在否?』那云:『去也。』泉下廚打破鍋。此則公案,古J39nB461_p0751a02今批判甚多,盡道南泉賊過後張弓,不柰船何打破J39nB461_p0751a03戽斗。殊不知他東邊失利,西邊撈本。今日眾中若有J39nB461_p0751a04個漢子請山僧念誦,直向他道:『三德六味供佛及僧。』J39nB461_p0751a05他若拂袖而出,便與劈背一拳。何也?下坡不走,快便J39nB461_p0751a06難逢。」下座。
J39nB461_p0751a07供法被,請上堂。云:「法眼豁開,浮雲散而日麗中天;沙J39nB461_p0751a08盆拓出,意氣生而風吹大野。寒梅發嶺外,黃葉布溪J39nB461_p0751a09邊,漁歸合浦,牧宿煙汀,隴畔歌吟,橋頭語笑,頭頭顯J39nB461_p0751a10格外真機,物物示西來祖意。所以道:『溪聲盡是廣長J39nB461_p0751a11舌,山色無非清淨身。』今日承周居士施法被設齋,又J39nB461_p0751a12請山僧舉揚個事,且道個事又作麼生舉揚?」以拂子J39nB461_p0751a13打圓相,云:「驚人巨浪曾經險,稱意鰲魚釣得歸。」
J39nB461_p0751a14上堂。舉:「龐公問馬祖云:『不與萬法為侶是什麼人?』祖J39nB461_p0751a15云:『待汝一口吸盡西江水即向汝道。』龐公大悟。此則J39nB461_p0751a16公案,據山僧看來,馬祖荅語不妨出格,若不是龐老,J39nB461_p0751a17也大難承當。今日在座,若有問山僧:『不與萬法為侶J39nB461_p0751a18是什麼人?』便向他道:『堂堂獨露。』他若擬議,連棒打出。」J39nB461_p0751a19師顧左右,下座。
J39nB461_p0751a20元日,上堂。拈香祝聖畢,師云:「出來也打,不出來也打。」J39nB461_p0751a21僧出禮拜,師便打,僧一喝,師復打,云:「且領這一頓。」乃J39nB461_p0751a22云:「最初一句,開口道著;最初一步,動腳踏著。踏著也,J39nB461_p0751a23大地春回;道著也,從天降下。直得龍樓鼓響,鳳閣鐘J39nB461_p0751a24鳴,滿朝文武賀堯年,野老樵漁歌舜世,干戈息而四J39nB461_p0751a25海晏清,稅斂薄而民安物阜。且道林下道人又作麼J39nB461_p0751a26生?」良久,云:「但願皇風成一片,不知何處是封疆?」
J39nB461_p0751a27師五旬誕日,上堂。云:「腳跟纔點地,踏翻海剎三千;鼻J39nB461_p0751a28孔謾撩天,已過浮生半百。七顛八倒,生緣自有來由;J39nB461_p0751a29豎四橫三,得處豈無憑據?玲瓏巖畔,徹底掀翻;片玉J39nB461_p0751a30峰前,和盤托出。金刀剪不破,彩筆畫難成。東西南北,J39nB461_p0751b01觸處風流;春夏秋冬,全彰意氣。今日因齋自慶則且J39nB461_p0751b02置,只如世尊初生一句作麼生道?當時不遇韶陽老,J39nB461_p0751b03直至而今惑亂人。」喝一喝,下座。
J39nB461_p0751b04解制,上堂。僧問:「世尊拈花,迦葉微笑,意旨如何?」師云:J39nB461_p0751b05「鼻孔郎當。」進云:「世尊不拈花,迦葉不微笑,又作麼生?」J39nB461_p0751b06師云:「川僧打鐵鼓。」進云:「太平只許將軍定,不許將軍J39nB461_p0751b07見太平。」師云:「速退,速退。」問:「把住也,乾坤失色;放行也,J39nB461_p0751b08七縱八橫。正當今日,如何施設?」師云:「韓信臨朝。」僧擬J39nB461_p0751b09議,師便打,乃云:「有解有結,寶誌杖頭懸剪尺;無結無J39nB461_p0751b10解,黃牛角上掛軍持。一迴趁出煙霞外,又入江城訪J39nB461_p0751b11舊知。到者裡,肩橫楖栗,任意江南、江北、浙東、浙西,龍J39nB461_p0751b12兒鳳子步瀛洲,曲蟺蝦蟆鑽入草。撐門拄戶底,何如J39nB461_p0751b13選佛守清虛?摸壁扶墻底,一任諸方趣熱鬧。阿呵呵!J39nB461_p0751b14好不好?日暖花香,風清月皎。」復舉:「宗泰禪師在五祖J39nB461_p0751b15多年,未曾敢措一詞。一日,祖陞座,顧左右,云:『八十翁J39nB461_p0751b16翁輥繡毬。』便下座。宗便欣然出眾,云:『請和尚試輥看。』J39nB461_p0751b17祖以手作打杖鼓勢,操蜀音,唱綿州巴歌,云:『豆子山,J39nB461_p0751b18打瓦鼓;楊平山,撒白雨。白雨下,取龍女;織得絹,二丈J39nB461_p0751b19五。一半屬羅江,一半屬玄武。』宗聞舉,忽然大悟,掩祖J39nB461_p0751b20口,曰:『只消唱到這裡。』祖呵呵大笑而歸。」師曰:「看也。互J39nB461_p0751b21祖父子雖然師資道合、機教相投,檢點將來,一個憐J39nB461_p0751b22兒不覺醜,一個家富小兒嬌,縱然悟去,未免聽事不J39nB461_p0751b23真、喚鐘作甕。今日選佛,設有個漢出來,云:『請和尚亦J39nB461_p0751b24試輥一輥看。』山僧便喝,云:『莫來攔我毬門路。』他若擬J39nB461_p0751b25議,直與推倒悟去也不定。」
J39nB461_p0751b26上堂。云:「理隨事變,何妨三藏、四藏?事得理融,只消一J39nB461_p0751b27句、半句。只這一句子,包羅萬有、囊括十虛,離相、離名,J39nB461_p0751b28透聲、透色,不妨於舌根未動已前早為諸人吐露了J39nB461_p0751b29也,如天普蓋、似地普擎、似風普吹、如日普照。所以道:J39nB461_p0751b30『一切甚深廣大義,如來一句能演說。』山僧今日借此J39nB461_p0751c01一句為我思欽杜老居士花甲之辰,惟願食息無虞、J39nB461_p0751c02身心無染,天門壽域,佇看南極流輝;日永椿庭,仰聽J39nB461_p0751c03東華注算。然雖如是,猶是尋常之事。若向這一句子J39nB461_p0751c04下領會得去,卻與天地同根、萬物一體。山僧更有一J39nB461_p0751c05偈:三祝遺風自古賢,桂林花甲正秋然,福同江海深J39nB461_p0751c06猶豔,壽等椿松老更妍。雪藕香浮天上客,冰桃熟奉J39nB461_p0751c07地行仙,山僧拈得無他事,耑為吾檀慶大年。」卓拄杖,J39nB461_p0751c08下座。
J39nB461_p0751c09師誕日,上堂。云:「風和百鳥傳新韻,日暖梅花吐舊枝,J39nB461_p0751c10分明此物非他物,顯發當人向上機。今分汝諸人特J39nB461_p0751c11為山僧祝壽,大似與虛空安耳朵,且無下手處;蚊子J39nB461_p0751c12上鐵牛,亦無劄嘴處。殊不知這個本命元辰,從無始J39nB461_p0751c13以來頭出頭沒,所飲母乳如大海水,所脫身骨如毘J39nB461_p0751c14富羅山,改頭換面,百醜千狀,是汝諸人擬慶那個即J39nB461_p0751c15是?」拈拄杖,卓一卓,云:「㖿!㖿!突出個父母未生前底本J39nB461_p0751c16來面目,與汝諸人相見去也。」復打圓相,云:「還見麼?從J39nB461_p0751c17來鼻孔面門垂,依舊眉毛橫眼上。」下座。
J39nB461_p0751c18王明甫居士施戒衣求壽祈嗣,請上堂。僧問:「古人道:J39nB461_p0751c19『佛之一字,吾不喜聞。』」師打,云:「道什麼?」進云:「耳聾且止,J39nB461_p0751c20求之弗得,捨之弗失,又作麼生?」師云:「卻較些子。」進云:J39nB461_p0751c21「即今聲鐘伐鼓,四眾臨筵,還是喜聞?不喜聞?」師云:「穿J39nB461_p0751c22過髑髏。」僧便喝,師云:「莫亂喝。」僧又喝,師連棒打出,乃J39nB461_p0751c23云:「佛之一字,吾不喜聞,穿過髑髏,揭開腦門,泥牛入J39nB461_p0751c24海,撞倒乾坤,恍恍惚惚,其中有精。看看!山僧將李老J39nB461_p0751c25君一種妙圓為諸人拈向面前了也。若能會得,不妨J39nB461_p0751c26超凡越聖、耀古輝今,先天地而不生、後天地而不老。J39nB461_p0751c27不生不老,萬古常存,皆從吾人自性中流露將來,以J39nB461_p0751c28此可以永壽、以此可以祈嗣、以此可以集福、以此可J39nB461_p0751c29以受戒、以此可以報親、以此可以懺罪。且道:今日陞J39nB461_p0751c30座又作麼生?」良久,云:「祥麟瑞鶴從天降,桃李花開正J39nB461_p0752a01此時。」下座。
J39nB461_p0752a02上堂。云:「綿綿不露,何處逢渠?了了常知,忘言得旨。佛J39nB461_p0752a03祖頂𩕳上逴得便行,衲僧腳跟下卻難湊泊。於此時J39nB461_p0752a04也,金風扇野,黃葉飄林,半灣溪月映清輝,一帶松煙J39nB461_p0752a05籠翠色。若向這裡會得,不妨言言見諦,句句超宗,頭J39nB461_p0752a06頭廓本地風光,物物示生前面目。且道:久故元俊薛J39nB461_p0752a07公與王氏孺人畢竟在何處安身立命?湘南潭北覓J39nB461_p0752a08無蹤,竺土蓮邦常自在。」下座。
J39nB461_p0752a09開爐,上堂。僧問:「的的意覿面相逢,請師速道。」師便打。J39nB461_p0752a10進云:「這一棒落在什麼處?」師云:「痛處更加錐。」進云:「蒙J39nB461_p0752a11師指出須彌眼,一粒珠光照太虛。」師云:「且緩緩。」乃云:J39nB461_p0752a12「諸法寂滅相,戢玄機於未兆;不可以言宣,藏冥運於J39nB461_p0752a13即化。正當冰枯雪冷之時、木落霜清之際,君臣殿上J39nB461_p0752a14密不通風,賓主爐頭高燒榾柮,或圓機未悄、古路難J39nB461_p0752a15揚,的旨匪詳,觸途成滯。且向冷灰中撥出爆豆,自然J39nB461_p0752a16動地驚天;深潭底躍起潛龍,不妨拿雲握霧。雖然如J39nB461_p0752a17是,此猶是諸方共有的作用,未知選佛向上事在。且J39nB461_p0752a18道如何是選佛向上事?剎竿頭上翻觔斗,一腳踏翻J39nB461_p0752a19斗柄橫。」復舉:「雪峰燒火,向閉卻前後門,高聲大叫云:J39nB461_p0752a20『救火!救火!』玄沙將一片柴向窗欞中投入,峰便開門。」J39nB461_p0752a21師云:「看他父子舉揚不傳之妙,臨時用來恰好。後來J39nB461_p0752a22淨慈林禪師頌曰:『高燒榾柮暖通身,快活難禁一屋J39nB461_p0752a23春,不是謝郎來合火,誰知門外有寒人?』選佛亦有一J39nB461_p0752a24頌:前後門窗扃不開,爐烘煖火似春回,興高若不留J39nB461_p0752a25題目,爭見玄沙滿面灰?」喝一喝,下座。
J39nB461_p0752a26臘八日,知浴玉鏡、見心二上座請上堂。僧問:「人人具J39nB461_p0752a27足,個個圓成,且道世尊今日明個恁麼邊事?」師云:「奴J39nB461_p0752a28見婢慇懃。」進云:「看破了也。」師云:「看破個什麼?」進云:「昨J39nB461_p0752a29夜西風起,今朝滿面寒。」師云:「切忌違時失候。」問:「釋迦J39nB461_p0752a30老子睹明星悟道,睹那一個星?」師舉拂子云:「見麼?」進J39nB461_p0752b01云:「還有麼?」師與驀口一拂,乃云:「咄哉老瞿曇!真個不J39nB461_p0752b02知有,罪業降王宮,逾城雪山走。六載被饑寒,苦屈真J39nB461_p0752b03難受,半夜著熱忙,通身細抖擻。坐到冰枯雪冷時,錯J39nB461_p0752b04自承當;參至水窮山盡處,剩得張口。驀睹一星兒,向J39nB461_p0752b05人便分剖,撞著跛足師,瞎棒劈脊摟。醜!醜!誰知八十J39nB461_p0752b06一,原來是九九。然今日釋迦成道且置,只如二上座J39nB461_p0752b07為眾竭力一句又作麼生?不受一翻寒徹骨,怎得梅J39nB461_p0752b08花噴鼻香?」
