別菴和尚同門錄序
J39nB445_p0345a02蓋祖道之盛衰,係於所傳之人耳。所傳之人皆賢,則J39nB445_p0345a03祖道因之而盛;所傳之人非賢,則祖道因之而衰。所J39nB445_p0345a04謂人能弘道,非道弘人也。昔密祖 揚臨濟之道於J39nB445_p0345a05天童,其兒孫今將遍於天下,天下之人孰不歎虎丘J39nB445_p0345a06一派為盛乎?萬祖重揚臨濟之道於聚雲,其兒孫今J39nB445_p0345a07將遍於西蜀,西蜀之人孰不歎徑山一派為盛乎?
J39nB445_p0345a08別翁和尚,聚雲之曾孫,高峰之嫡嗣。丙寅歲,飛錫南J39nB445_p0345a09來,掃祖塔於徑山,據師位於普陀,由是南方之人始J39nB445_p0345a10知徑山一派猶盛於西蜀也。和尚年甫而立,而全錄J39nB445_p0345a11已有若干卷矣。句句破諸見之稠林,字字開人天之J39nB445_p0345a12眼目,真可謂大慧再來也。辛未冬,又集《同門錄》三卷,J39nB445_p0345a13壽諸棗梨。其諸禪師語句,各各從胸襟流出,蓋天蓋J39nB445_p0345a14地;其諸居士機緣,各各從實悟吐來,不讓老龐。是所J39nB445_p0345a15傳之人皆賢,則祖道因之而盛也。自此聚雲一燈又J39nB445_p0345a16將漸傳於天下矣。夫徑山、虎丘,同門兄弟也,共揚臨J39nB445_p0345a17濟之道於前,而兩派之兒孫共揚臨濟之道於後,則J39nB445_p0345a18凡睹茲《同門錄》者,必為高峰慶也,必為慶忠慶也,必J39nB445_p0345a19為聚雲慶也,必為徑山慶也,必為臨濟慶也。目余嘗J39nB445_p0345a20閱《慶忠集》,有云:「昔天童和尚覽及聚雲和尚語錄,欣J39nB445_p0345a21然謂眾曰:『西蜀有異人也。』」足以見密祖弘道之心至J39nB445_p0345a22公無私也。

J39nB445_p0346a06梁山五雲于夫性一禪師。忠州張氏子,首參慶忠,繼J39nB445_p0346a07謁高峰。峰主興龍,距長江數日程,烽煙四起,周道多J39nB445_p0346a08阻,師裹糧獨行。或曰:「參尋固當勵志,冒險懼禍奈何?」J39nB445_p0346a09師曰:「大事不明,雖生猶死。」乃潛隨賊隊至梁。峰一見J39nB445_p0346a10便問曰:「風鶴時阻,如何得到此間?」師曰:「他家自有通J39nB445_p0346a11霄路。」峰曰:「冊子上記來何用?」師曰:「也要和尚證明。」峰J39nB445_p0346a12微笑,隨眾參請,近載無所入。無言養公時為監院,師J39nB445_p0346a13與辯論公案,其質於峰,被打二十拄杖,命看樹倒藤J39nB445_p0346a14枯話,發奮力參,寢食俱廢。一日,隨眾坡務,負油麻過J39nB445_p0346a15橫山,踏枯竹作聲,路旁野雉驚鳴飛去,釋然大悟,置J39nB445_p0346a16麻於地,就地打輥,大笑不止。同行斥曰:「汝顛耶?」師起J39nB445_p0346a17摑曰:「非公境界。」比歸呈解,受印於峰,命分座說法,率J39nB445_p0346a18眾俱以身先。順治辛丑,師繪峰真請題,峰陞座曰:「十J39nB445_p0346a19年不可瞞,一筆圖將出,皮肉骨髓渾全真,直得橫身J39nB445_p0346a20交付,拄杖頭邊放光明,從此一燈百千燈,南北東西J39nB445_p0346a21任爾分布照燭。咄!」是年,峰辭五雲,眾堅留師繼席,尋J39nB445_p0346a22還邑之高峰。
開堂,拈請啟云:「今日底事,只者幅雲J39nB445_p0346a23箋已剖露了也,也須大家知。」維那讀畢,師云:「恁麼不J39nB445_p0346a24恁麼,寄語王孫休駐馬,提筐不是採桑人。不恁麼卻J39nB445_p0346a25恁麼,秪見落花隨水去,不知流出洞中春。不恁麼不J39nB445_p0346a26恁麼,目視雲漢,手抹星辰。這些且置,即今恁麼恁麼J39nB445_p0346a27底句作麼生道?我為法王,於法自在。」遂陞座。云:「禾山J39nB445_p0346a28解打鼓,慶忠撞木鐘,兩枝無孔笛,喚起一江風,此日J39nB445_p0346a29千夫腔板別,五雲堂上理絲桐。為甚如此?秪緣在那J39nB445_p0346a30邊帶得一琴譜,向者邊撥出,貴圖滿座知音。」以手作J39nB445_p0346b01鳴琴勢,云:「發纖指,弄玉琴,奏一曲,報諸人,上床臥,下J39nB445_p0346b02床行,衣無領,褲無襟,重陽九日菊花新,南山雨,北山J39nB445_p0346b03雲,牛頭沒,馬頭橫,楊柳岸,白沙汀,君向瀟湘我向秦。」J39nB445_p0346b04作罷琴勢,云:「眾中有熟諳絃徽、不犯纖指者麼?請向J39nB445_p0346b05當場和一曲看。」僧出,云:「這些腔版曲調已落在某甲J39nB445_p0346b06手中,不勞拈出。」師云:「伯牙遇子期,不是閒相識。」僧歸J39nB445_p0346b07位,師乃云:「來時菊蕊氣沾衣,此日桃花香噴鼻,木人J39nB445_p0346b08昨夜問長空,報道今朝二月一。紫燕喃喃,流鶯嚦嚦,J39nB445_p0346b09堤柳臨波,山花映日,漁翁剌艇釣金鱗,牧子橫牛吹J39nB445_p0346b10鐵笛,眼前景致口頭語,最是吾宗絕妙句,珍重諸人J39nB445_p0346b11好承當,都盧莫作西來意。大眾!既好承當,為甚又莫J39nB445_p0346b12作西來意?寧可腦後抽釘,漫向眼中添翳。聽我偈:九J39nB445_p0346b13箇年頭受折磨,皮膚脫盡苦摩攣,而今變作拿雲手,J39nB445_p0346b14捉月擒風奈我何?沒絃琴理清音遍,驚報群鱉振赤J39nB445_p0346b15波。會也麼?會也麼?自從舞得三臺後,拍拍原來總是J39nB445_p0346b16歌。」撫禪床三下,喝三喝,下座。
說戒,上堂。「五雲夜擊J39nB445_p0346b17鼓,波離淚如雨。為復何因緣,而遵戒為祖?欣懸割肉J39nB445_p0346b18悲,舉聚造樓苦。饒君九九八十一,還從五五二十五。J39nB445_p0346b19雪消萬壑湧波濤,雲淨一輪光海子。細思量,休莽鹵。J39nB445_p0346b20若非滌淨琉璃瓶,那得貯盛師子乳?」喝一喝。
上堂。J39nB445_p0346b21喝一喝,云:「此是聲,觸之耳裡著水。」豎拄杖,云:「此是色,J39nB445_p0346b22睹之眼裡著沙。因甚從上古人多向這裡悟去?犀因J39nB445_p0346b23翫月紋生角,象被雷驚花入牙。」
上堂。「帝釋插草,阿J39nB445_p0346b24難倒竿,兩箇徐六,各見一邊。怎似一上座能刱能芟?J39nB445_p0346b25其刱也,齒上毛鬱鬱;其芟也,舌上草蔓蔓。還見麼?」拍J39nB445_p0346b26禪床,云:「奎木狼,尾火虎,井木犴。」
小參。「若箇寒池無J39nB445_p0346b27月明,秪緣鬱鬱藻萍生,而今為汝親除卻,現出清秋J39nB445_p0346b28一鏡輪。」豎拂子,云:「會麼?秪這箇阿誰不具?總以五欲J39nB445_p0346b29七情緣引妄想紛飛,如霧橫空、如萍覆水而不見得。J39nB445_p0346b30畢竟如何乃能得見?達磨大師云:『欲究無上妙道,必J39nB445_p0346c01須外息諸緣、內心無喘,身如牆壁,可以入道。』外息諸J39nB445_p0346c02緣,即此是戒;內心無喘,即此是定;可以入道,即此是J39nB445_p0346c03慧。具此智慧,始明得這箇。明得這箇,即踏破毘盧頂,J39nB445_p0346c04不稟釋迦文。到恁麼時,一任婬房作樂、酒肆行歌,▆J39nB445_p0346c05須是恁麼人明恁麼事。秪饒是恁麼人明得恁麼邊J39nB445_p0346c06事,維摩室裡猶許安身,釋迦座前無容措足,況未得J39nB445_p0346c07過滄州,誰知師子吼?還委悉麼?不因萬木凋殘盡,那J39nB445_p0346c08得梅花噴鼻香?」擊拂子三下。
懸鐘,示眾。擊鐘,云:「聲J39nB445_p0346c09響也,乾坤失色;聲消也,海嶽生輝。為報兩堂雲水客,J39nB445_p0346c10一聲聲裡動深思。」
示眾。豎拄杖,云:「恁麼則易。」放下,J39nB445_p0346c11云:「恁麼則難。咦!也不得錯會。」
師閱聚雲頌雲門,末J39nB445_p0346c12有「只能薦得第二句」之語。師指問雲寉,寉便問:「如何J39nB445_p0346c13是第一句?」師曰:「我不向你道。」寉再問,師曰:「劍去久矣。」
J39nB445_p0346c14師同馬仁伯烘爐次,伯問:「如何是賓?」師豎起火筯。J39nB445_p0346c15「如何是主?」師插下火筯。「如何是主中賓?」師曰:「我因你J39nB445_p0346c16問。」「如何是賓中主?」師曰:「你因我答。」「如何是賓中賓?」師J39nB445_p0346c17曰:「你從外來。」「如何是主中主?」師曰:「我在此坐。」「賓主俱J39nB445_p0346c18不著時如何?」師放身臥。
J39nB445_p0346c19相。劉三聘居士問:「這箇是甚麼字?」師豎起五指,士罔J39nB445_p0346c20措。時明愚在側,問:「這箇還要麼?」士曰:「正要底是這箇。」J39nB445_p0346c21師曰:「鬼持千里鈔,林下道人愁。」問:「如何是法身向J39nB445_p0346c22上?」師曰:「騎驢石輥飛上樹,折斷寒枝帶葉飄。」「如何是J39nB445_p0346c23超佛越祖之談?」師曰:「啊㖿啊㖿!」
問:「趙州訪上下菴J39nB445_p0346c24主公案作麼生會?」師曰:「權衡在手,操縱山誰?」曰:「為甚J39nB445_p0346c25一抬一捺?」師曰:「曹溪波浪如相似,無限平人被陸沈。」
J39nB445_p0346c26馬仁伯問:「如何是佛?」師翹一足。曰:「意旨如何?」師曰:J39nB445_p0346c27「身在海中休覓水,日行嶺上莫尋山。」
康熙丙辰,退J39nB445_p0346c28處忠之金剛山。初到,即謂侍僧曰:「汝等珍重,吾終於J39nB445_p0346c29是山矣。」果於十一月十六日集眾訣別,修書上高峰J39nB445_p0346c30老人,誓再世親依,圖報恩德。戒眾不得建塔,以遺骼J39nB445_p0347a01投江。言畢,奄然而逝。世壽五十有九,僧臘三十。
夔州西龍無言性養禪師,墊江劉氏子。祖母夢庭開J39nB445_p0347a03一蓮,遂生。自幼出塵,謁慶忠。初職化主,次充客司。忠J39nB445_p0347a04示以偈,有「化緣纔罷又知賓,驢事不臨馬事臨」之句。J39nB445_p0347a05急公忘私,凜凜有古風。繼參高峰,司監院。公事之暇,J39nB445_p0347a06勵志己業,日臻玄奧。峰主五雲,請居第二座。順治戌J39nB445_p0347a07戍受印,出住西龍普陀。時在襁褓,父母欽師道德,請J39nB445_p0347a08命名焉。
開堂。拈請啟云:「還見麼?若論就中消息,已J39nB445_p0347a09被檀信這紙點綴分明,伶俐衲僧一眼覷破,不勞維J39nB445_p0347a10那鼓動唇皮;如或未然,竹密不妨流水過。」讀畢,顧法J39nB445_p0347a11座,云:「孤迥迥,峭巍巍,建立則表豎人天,收攝則欽歸J39nB445_p0347a12實際,鬼神莫覷,千聖難窺。正恁麼時,須知有向二一J39nB445_p0347a13路。」良久,遂陞。拈香畢,乃云:「養上座自遭五雲毒害,抱J39nB445_p0347a14恨十有一年,今日擬向曲彔床頭一番洗雪,卻又滿J39nB445_p0347a15口難言。蒼天,蒼天!張三有錢不會使,李四會使又無J39nB445_p0347a16錢,眾中莫有出來分斷者麼?」僧出,師便打,僧喝,師復J39nB445_p0347a17打,僧復喝,師云:「更加冤苦。」問:「如何是了生脫死一句?」J39nB445_p0347a18師曰:「三尺鐵蛇雙眼赤。」「如何是歷代相傳一句?」師曰:J39nB445_p0347a19「禮拜著。」「如何是家有犢牛兒,價直十二兩?」師曰:「闍黎J39nB445_p0347a20問箇甚麼?」問:「人人道:聚雲門庭孤峻。孤峻底事作麼J39nB445_p0347a21生?」師曰:「山高水長。」曰:「恁麼則太尊貴生。」師不對。問:「慈J39nB445_p0347a22明道:『黑黑黑,道道道,明明明,得得得。』意旨如何?」師曰:J39nB445_p0347a23「細腰鼓子兩頭打。」曰:「恁麼則出石霜一頭去也。」師曰:J39nB445_p0347a24「也不消恁麼道。」僧歸位,師以拄杖卓一卓,云:「不得喚J39nB445_p0347a25作棒。」喝一喝,云:「不得喚作喝。德山、臨濟且請退位,西J39nB445_p0347a26龍今日用處與老漢不同。何以故?驅耕夫之牛,奪饑J39nB445_p0347a27人之食,無利則可,拆本難逃。汝等諸人若是吐氣揚J39nB445_p0347a28眉,喪身失命;若是畏刀避劍,失命喪身。畢竟如何▆?」J39nB445_p0347a29卓一卓,喝一喝,云:「上元原是正月半。」下座。
說戒,上J39nB445_p0347a30堂。「一是一,二是二,本分為人;是則是,非則非,何堪終J39nB445_p0347b01索?昔日僧燦大師作居士時,就神光二神乞為懺罪,J39nB445_p0347b02祖云:『將罪來,與汝懺。』士良久,云:『覓罪了不可得。』祖云:J39nB445_p0347b03『與汝懺罪竟。』汝等若向居士良久處薦得,方知自性J39nB445_p0347b04本空,罪從何有?罪性既無,夫復何懺?雖然如是,未到J39nB445_p0347b05水澄珠現處,那能雲淨月長輝?」以拂子擊禪床一下,J39nB445_p0347b06云:「道!道!」
上堂。擊禪床,云:「百千妙義、無量法門,總被J39nB445_p0347b07養上座擊碎了也。未證入者,不得放過;已證入者,不J39nB445_p0347b08得放過。大眾!因甚道箇已證、未證俱不得放過聻?分J39nB445_p0347b09明香在梅花上,尋到梅花香又無。」
上堂。「觸色聆聲,J39nB445_p0347b10都沒交涉,秪如不用聰明又作麼生?」擲下拄杖,云:「但J39nB445_p0347b11恁麼會取。」
示眾。「予觀釋迦老子立教敷宗,頓漸隨J39nB445_p0347b12機,權實並舉,無非指引一條向上路,俾人人體佛心、J39nB445_p0347b13遵佛化,自度度人已耳。及至達磨西來,不立文字,直J39nB445_p0347b14指人心,見性成佛。遇梁武帝,機緣不契,遂至少林,面J39nB445_p0347b15壁九載,看他是甚麼動定、甚麼行藏。至六祖,接懷讓。J39nB445_p0347b16讓一日到曹溪,祖問曰:『甚麼物與麼來?』讓不能對。退J39nB445_p0347b17參八載,方道箇『說似一物即不中』。祖云:『還假修證也J39nB445_p0347b18無?』讓云:『修證即不無,染污即不得。』又看他是甚麼說J39nB445_p0347b19話、甚麼操履。迄臨濟,參黃檗,三度問西來的的大意,J39nB445_p0347b20被三度痛打,復得大愚一劄,方道箇『佛法無多子』。又J39nB445_p0347b21看他是甚麼見識、甚麼磨礱。以至立宗旨、顯大機、發J39nB445_p0347b22大用,未聞有釣詭炫奇、顯異惑眾之事。此吾佛吾祖J39nB445_p0347b23歷歷相傳至今,可據實而考者。後來續他源流、襲他J39nB445_p0347b24衣缽的,只宜效法風規,遵循懿範,為人天眼目,作法J39nB445_p0347b25宇棟梁,堪副大道之心,不枉出家之志。無何,象季末J39nB445_p0347b26流,不依佛制,不習祖儀,不葆真心,不修梵行,恣意縱J39nB445_p0347b27行,博名圖利,以為溫飽之計,甚至貪金賣拂,愈傳愈J39nB445_p0347b28差,視前之佛祖真實慈悲,不輕授受者為何如哉?此J39nB445_p0347b29予之所心傷目擊,感嘆而不能已者。唯願諸兄弟具J39nB445_p0347b30雙青白眼,覷破恁般行藏,各自潛心修習,寧不作佛J39nB445_p0347c01作祖而無急意于源流,寧不圖利圖名而無妄倖夫J39nB445_p0347c02知識,將見功圓行畢,人天歡喜,池澄月現,水到渠成,J39nB445_p0347c03出世為人有不期然而然者,視彼無智妄誕之徒又J39nB445_p0347c04卑卑不足論矣。聽吾偈:佛祖相傳來,真實為行履。貪J39nB445_p0347c05金賣拂人,妄誕胡為爾?人欣我不欣,人取我不取。何J39nB445_p0347c06以故?我王庫內無如是刀。」
示眾。「參禪一法,貴要穿J39nB445_p0347c07靴拄棍,一步步踏實行到,方可自利利他、成人成己。J39nB445_p0347c08而今多有向他人喉中取氣,以為自己證悟者,逢人J39nB445_p0347c09賣弄,輒口誇揚,一味口吧吧地。不見溈山謂仰山曰:J39nB445_p0347c10『終日與子商量,濟得甚麼邊事?』又有埋頭枯坐,向鬼J39nB445_p0347c11窟裡安身,於一切言句不起疑情,亦不諮詢先覺,一J39nB445_p0347c12味將心待悟。不見大慧老人道:『不疑古人言句,是學J39nB445_p0347c13者大病。』如上二種疚患抱在身中,尚爾妄為自肯,且J39nB445_p0347c14你不肯我、我不肯你,彼此矛盾,人我角立。噫!佛法豈J39nB445_p0347c15有人我耶?古人雖道箇『為人自肯乃方親』,殊不知參J39nB445_p0347c16是的的參、見是的的見、肯是的的肯,非以自恃為自J39nB445_p0347c17肯也。若不把這些雜毒一眼覷破,將一片工夫置於J39nB445_p0347c18無用之地,何時是妙悟日子?西龍今日略伸數問,具J39nB445_p0347c19眼者不妨道答。倘能一一道答分明,方許彼此唱酬,J39nB445_p0347c20光揚祖道,與西龍把手並行。脫或未能,拳打各人心J39nB445_p0347c21下事,莫教引類墮深坑。問:舌頭上無十字關,橫說豎J39nB445_p0347c22說;腳跟下無五色線,順行逆行。直饒說滿虛空,走遍J39nB445_p0347c23天下,猶未是衲僧巴鼻。巴鼻處道將一句來。問:將三J39nB445_p0347c24世諸佛、歷代祖師、天下老和尚一臀坐斷,是甚麼人J39nB445_p0347c25行履?問:世界未生已前,已有箇威音王。既是世界未J39nB445_p0347c26生,威音王又在何處安身立命?問:真不是覺覺非真,J39nB445_p0347c27眼不是見見非眼。此語如何領會?問:世尊道:『天上天J39nB445_p0347c28下,唯吾獨尊。』如何是獨尊事?問:不用觀音、文殊、普賢J39nB445_p0347c29三門,作麼答話?問:李四唼著舌頭,因甚血在張三口J39nB445_p0347c30裡?問:上大人,丘一己,佳作仁,可知禮,是誰家語話?」喝J39nB445_p0348a01一喝,云:「臨濟四喝,這是那一喝?問:參禪須是識尊卑、J39nB445_p0348a02明貴賤,諸上座分中合作麼生?如上閒言剩語,是甚J39nB445_p0348a03弄猢猻家具?西龍恁麼道,也是龜毛長三尺。」
師燕J39nB445_p0348a04坐次,僧智林拈著馬齒牛頭之語呈似師。師閱畢云:J39nB445_p0348a05「莫信這話好。」林云:「信箇甚麼?」師云:「畢竟在那裡見得J39nB445_p0348a06不生不死?」林曰:「昨日到底二僧是小西天人。」師云:「堂J39nB445_p0348a07中掛二版了。」林行數步,復轉身云:「畢竟在那裡見得J39nB445_p0348a08不生不死?」師低首摩胸云:「教我如何祗對上座?」林禮J39nB445_p0348a09拜,師呵呵大笑。
師侍高峰圍爐次,峰喚脫穎至,適J39nB445_p0348a10聞鳴鐘,峰問穎云:「是聲來耳邊?耳往聲處?」穎擬議,峰J39nB445_p0348a11云:「何不問爾師?」穎便問:「是聲來耳邊?耳往聲處?」師豎J39nB445_p0348a12指云:「爭奈瞞這箇不過?」穎禮拜。峰復喚別天至,問:「此J39nB445_p0348a13時落雪那?」天云:「落雪。」峰云:「是誰向汝道?」天無語,穎豎J39nB445_p0348a14指云:「爭奈瞞這箇不過?」師云:「參堂去。」
康熙戊申,峰J39nB445_p0348a15南下,以曇華院事召師主之。居三載,精勤蒞眾,克紹J39nB445_p0348a16前徽。庚戌冬,感微疾,集眾說偈而逝。闍維,舍利盈坎,J39nB445_p0348a17四眾尋覓殆盡。何乾行居士曾受印於師,因地遠後J39nB445_p0348a18至,以不得舍利為恨,跪求于遷化處,復獲十餘顆,五J39nB445_p0348a19色光潤倍常。門人奉靈骨,建塔於高峰祖塔之左。
梁山長慶大衍性豫禪師,本邑吳氏子。明甲申兵變,J39nB445_p0348a21族眾被害,師同胞三人獨免禍,乃決志出塵。長字穎J39nB445_p0348a22初,次字雲松,同參高峰於五雲,看無夢無想主人公J39nB445_p0348a23話。是年,峰囑高弟四人將謀退隱,普茶次,謂眾曰:「老J39nB445_p0348a24僧辛苦數十年,今擔荷法門有人,茲後願住山以終J39nB445_p0348a25吾志。」師出眾,厲聲曰:「和尚且緩緩,擔荷法門的人未J39nB445_p0348a26生在。」一眾驚駭,峰亦不加責。後所囑四人皆早卒,師J39nB445_p0348a27掌記室十餘年。峰遷曇華,請克第三座印心。後康熙J39nB445_p0348a28辛亥,出住長慶。
入院,土地。「召之無名,卻又有靈;訪J39nB445_p0348a29之無姓,隨方任運。不離當處,神威遠震。」喝一喝,云:「道J39nB445_p0348a30泰休傳天子令。」三門。「內不放出,法堂前草生一丈;外J39nB445_p0348b01不放入,法堂前亦是草漫漫。如何得不生草去?咦!」拂J39nB445_p0348b02袖便入。佛殿。「雲門要打殺,趙州不喜聞,山僧姑且容J39nB445_p0348b03你,向後不得稱尊。」方丈。「據此室,行此令,魔外潛蹤,人J39nB445_p0348b04天聽命,雖是法爾如然,且將揖讓謙遜。還知謙遜的J39nB445_p0348b05道理麼?我不敢輕於汝等。」即日請上堂。師至法座前,J39nB445_p0348b06云:「高不可攀,低不可越,大如芥子,小似須彌,建立則J39nB445_p0348b07不攝一塵,掃蕩則遍該法界。且道:即今建立的是?掃J39nB445_p0348b08蕩的是?」喝一喝,遂陞。拈香,云:「此瓣香遮天蓋地,覆蔭J39nB445_p0348b09河山,熏之則萬國咸寧歌舜日,煽之則千秋永奠樂J39nB445_p0348b10堯天,爇向爐中奉祝 當今皇帝萬歲,太子千秋。」次J39nB445_p0348b11拈云:「此瓣香恩沾乾澤,德被坤沒,爇向爐中,奉為滿J39nB445_p0348b12朝文武、闔國公卿、本邑宰官、祗園護法,總此一瓣,同J39nB445_p0348b13伸報答。」復拈云:「此瓣香,名不得、狀不得,看破不直錢,J39nB445_p0348b14鬼神莫能測,嗅著祖佛潛蹤、觸之天魔膽裂。爇向爐J39nB445_p0348b15中,供養現住高峰開禧堂上上三下山本師老和尚,J39nB445_p0348b16用酬法乳之恩。」斂衣就座。白椎竟,乃云:「若是第一義,J39nB445_p0348b17諸佛道不出,萬聖豈能宣?山僧今日明拈出,珍重諸J39nB445_p0348b18人莫妄傳。」撫掌呵呵大笑,云:「會麼?」便下座。
祇園檀J39nB445_p0348b19信請上堂,眾方集,師云:「山僧今日不解畫蛇添足。」拈J39nB445_p0348b20拄杖一齊打散。
師至慶雲,值卓峰和尚三週,請上J39nB445_p0348b21堂。「百千法門、無量妙義,山僧未開口時已為諸人逗J39nB445_p0348b22露了也。若能於斯薦得,何須鼓舌搖唇?脫或未然,更J39nB445_p0348b23聽山僧分明舉似:我卓峰師弟受衡伯老人囑付歷J39nB445_p0348b24有多年,一片赤心思紹佛祖徽猷、千般苦志圖作眾J39nB445_p0348b25生接引,恒嗟枯藤未握,嘗懷志願罕酬,其奈天不假J39nB445_p0348b26年,早歸幻化?即今三載已周,汝等還有知恩報恩者J39nB445_p0348b27麼?」揮拂子,云:「孝思展盡無餘事,茶呈三獻勿重斟。」
J39nB445_p0348b28示眾。「凡參學人,必須放下身心,內外一如,咬定牙關、J39nB445_p0348b29豎起脊梁,將各人本參話頭終朝咀嚼、著力搜尋,切J39nB445_p0348b30不可將心待悟,倘因循放逸,終無到家時節。不見僧J39nB445_p0348c01問趙州:『萬法歸一,一歸何處?』州云:『我在青州造領布J39nB445_p0348c02衫重七觔。』你看他答的話,不著於理、不著於事,妙玄J39nB445_p0348c03無盡,意識卜度他不得、語言比量他不得,毫無一點J39nB445_p0348c04支離,並無一點滲漏。汝等直須剔起眉毛,不可在青J39nB445_p0348c05州上會、不可在布衫上會、不可在七觔上會,看他一J39nB445_p0348c06言吐盡肝腸、一句遍該法界,無手人行拳、無舌人解J39nB445_p0348c07語,泥牛喚雨、木馬嘶風,恁麼會得方有少分相應。山J39nB445_p0348c08僧不惜口業,即借古人句子為汝等分明頌出:朝辭J39nB445_p0348c09白帝彩雲間,千里江陵一日還,兩岸猿聲啼不住,輕J39nB445_p0348c10舟已過萬重山。」擊拂子,云:「切須薦取。」
示眾。「近代學J39nB445_p0348c11人多執己見為極則,遇著明眼宗師,問到他一言兩J39nB445_p0348c12語不合他己見,便生煩惱。殊不知你不契處即是錯J39nB445_p0348c13會處,先聖後聖其揆一也。汝等豈不聞今人不疑古J39nB445_p0348c14人言句是學人大病?你看僧問雪峰:『古澗寒泉時如J39nB445_p0348c15何?』峰云:『瞪目不見底。』僧云:『飲者如何?』峰云:『不從口入。』J39nB445_p0348c16僧舉似趙州,州云:『不從口入,從鼻孔裡入。』僧復問趙J39nB445_p0348c17州:『古澗寒泉時如何?』州云:『苦。』僧云:『飲者如何?』州云:『死。』J39nB445_p0348c18雪峰聞之,從此之後不答話矣。汝等看趙州答的話J39nB445_p0348c19與雪峰答的話是契合不契合?若道雪峰答的是,因J39nB445_p0348c20甚後來不答話?可見趙州與人拔楔抽釘利害不少。J39nB445_p0348c21汝等有出趙州一頭者,方許以己見為極則,不然須J39nB445_p0348c22慎之慎之。」
為高峰老人四九,拈香。拈拂子打○相,J39nB445_p0348c23云:「此是老人真面目,反復從教數不足,即今屈指算J39nB445_p0348c24將來,四九原來三十六,斷續蟬聲處處鳴,分明唱出J39nB445_p0348c25無生曲。既無死無生,且道老人在甚麼處?」呵呵大笑,J39nB445_p0348c26云:「㗭嚦㗭嚦,咓嘝咓嘝。」
為慶雲法伯衡老人五九,J39nB445_p0348c27拈香。「五九四十五,大蟲是老虎,吾師而目本天然,覿J39nB445_p0348c28面分明不可睹。」撫掌云:「大眾會麼?分明香在梅花上,J39nB445_p0348c29尋到梅花香又無。」遂插香作禮。
舉:「馬大師不安,院J39nB445_p0348c30主問:『和尚近日尊候如何?』大師云:『日面佛,月面佛。』」師J39nB445_p0349a01云:「院主從憂勤處置一問,馬師向自在裡答一詞,雖J39nB445_p0349a02是話出平常,總緣隨時道出。伶俐底檢點看。頌云:失J39nB445_p0349a03覺天明重睡遲,因茲成病惹人疑。一聲問候驚殘夢,J39nB445_p0349a04寐語無端話不齊。」
舉:「一婆子供一菴主二十餘年,J39nB445_p0349a05常令一二八女子送食。一日,令女子抱定,云:『正當與J39nB445_p0349a06麼時如何?』主云:『枯木倚寒巖,三冬無暖氣。』女歸,舉似J39nB445_p0349a07婆,婆云:『我二十年來只供得箇俗漢。』遂燒卻菴。頌云:J39nB445_p0349a08浪靜江平莫繫船,花街柳巷自悠然。寒巖枯木三冬J39nB445_p0349a09煖,婆子那能燒卻菴?」
舉:「僧問投子:『凡聖相去幾何?』J39nB445_p0349a10子下禪床立。」師云:「這僧問處存路,投子做處無門。雖J39nB445_p0349a11然卷舒縱橫,只恐當面蹉過。揀辨得出,更參三十年。J39nB445_p0349a12頌云:扣關便出關,做出任君看。看來猶不是,七九六J39nB445_p0349a13十三。」
舉:「僧問南院:『古殿重興事如何?』院云:『明堂瓦J39nB445_p0349a14插簷。』僧云:『恁麼則莊嚴畢備也。』院云:『斬草蛇頭落。』」師J39nB445_p0349a15云:「這僧只解向春園苑裡貪賞異草奇花,不解從無J39nB445_p0349a16形國中抹去水光月色,是以南院有放有收、有縱有J39nB445_p0349a17奪。且道撥轉關捩在甚麼處?頌云:古殿重興尊貴生,J39nB445_p0349a18九重深處禁重門,太平只許將軍定,不許將軍坐太J39nB445_p0349a19平。」
舉:「恕中上堂,僧問:『如何是最初一句?』中云:『蝦蟆J39nB445_p0349a20趕鷂子。』僧云:『如何是末後一句?』中云:『老鼠弄猢猻。』僧J39nB445_p0349a21云:『恁麼則七出八沒去也。』中云:『且莫詐明頭。』」師云:「舉J39nB445_p0349a22此話也太難。頌云:真箇老魔王,黑山捉鬼賣,當行遇J39nB445_p0349a23作家,將貨打賭賽。醜又醜,怪又怪,仔細看將來,都是J39nB445_p0349a24些兩腳螃蟹。」
舉:「聚雲上堂云:『出眾者三十棒,不出J39nB445_p0349a25眾者三十棒。』時有僧出,雲便打。」師云:「聚雲老人布縵J39nB445_p0349a26天網,設陷虎機,這僧不顧危亡,未免遭他屈辱。還知J39nB445_p0349a27有放無收處麼?頌云:春夏纔過又值秋,草花木樹盡J39nB445_p0349a28含愁,誰知一葉梧桐落,霜露淋淋不放休。」
師上單J39nB445_p0349a29次,時有僧遽問:「正睡著時,主人公在甚麼處?」師以被J39nB445_p0349a30掩面,僧擬議,師掌云:「我睡了,誰叫你問我?」
問:「萬戶J39nB445_p0349b01俱開即不問,萬戶俱閉時如何?」師不對。曰:「萬戶俱閉J39nB445_p0349b02即不問,萬戶俱開時如何?」師曰:「這死漢還要第二杓J39nB445_p0349b03惡水那!」僧禮拜,師呵呵大笑。
忠州廣積立雪照見禪師,墊江袁氏子,世業儒。師生J39nB445_p0349b05有異相,志慕出塵,禮弔巖、南浙二師剃落,與高峰有J39nB445_p0349b06手足道誼。峰主五雲,師依叩玄旨,後歷興龍、曇華,師J39nB445_p0349b07恒侍焉。一日,峰徵師見諦穩密,謂曰:「古人參學事畢,J39nB445_p0349b08即思報佛深恩,汝志若何?」師曰:「得自了便罷。」峰厲聲J39nB445_p0349b09曰:「將謂你是箇人。」師趨前曰:「已聞命矣。」康熙甲辰,辭J39nB445_p0349b10峰遊雲貴,行化貴州一十五載,歷主數剎,衲子聞風J39nB445_p0349b11趨赴,大振聚雲之道。後以掃塔旋蜀,眾請主廣積祖J39nB445_p0349b12院,次遷龍坪。
上堂。拈拄杖云:「伸手舉著。」顧視云:「睜J39nB445_p0349b13眼覷著。」卓一卓云:「側耳聞著。恁麼道來,錯下註腳。大J39nB445_p0349b14眾會麼?馬齒牛頭,豬身羊角。」
上堂。擊禪床云:「敲則J39nB445_p0349b15應,扣則鳴,十分本色。」豎拄杖云:「提便起,放便下,本色J39nB445_p0349b16十分。曲彔床頭,勞伊神用。今日見上座,且作麼生?」擿J39nB445_p0349b17下云:「來年更有新條在,惱亂春風卒未休。」
示眾。喝J39nB445_p0349b18一喝,云:「玄要料揀,賓主照用,總被這一喝花擘了也。J39nB445_p0349b19莫有為見上座證盟者麼?」僧出,喝一喝,師云:「我與麼,J39nB445_p0349b20你亦與麼那?」僧拂袖歸位。師云:「還有道得的麼?」良久,J39nB445_p0349b21撫露柱云:「今日機緣卻瞞這漢不過。」
小參。舉趙州J39nB445_p0349b22訪上下菴主機緣,問眾云:「只如二菴主同豎拳頭,趙J39nB445_p0349b23州因甚一肯一不肯?」林維那豎拳云:「這箇亦能喫茶,J39nB445_p0349b24這箇不止喫飯。」師云:「且作恁麼道。」一僧云:「這箇亦能J39nB445_p0349b25喫茶,亦當吐卻。」師云:「毫釐有差,天地懸隔。」僧云:「那裡J39nB445_p0349b26見得懸隔處?」師云:「莫吐卻好。」僧歸位,師豎拳云:「只這J39nB445_p0349b27箇,仁者見之謂之仁,智者見之謂之智。」眾作禮,師云:J39nB445_p0349b28「恁麼會又爭得?」
落堂驗眾。「古人道:『即此用,離此用。』J39nB445_p0349b29今日還有覷得著的麼?」寒鏡進前云:「即此用。」歸位云:J39nB445_p0349b30「離此用。」師云:「不妨再道。」鏡云:「道甚麼?」師打兩拄杖。冰J39nB445_p0349c01琢出,師卓一卓,琢云:「作甚麼?」師亦打。脫穎出,師舉拄J39nB445_p0349c02杖云:「還識這箇麼?」穎云:「某甲數期抱病,不能答話。」師J39nB445_p0349c03亦打。指一出,師云:「道取一句來。」一云:「今夜十四」。師云:J39nB445_p0349c04「明日聻?」一禮拜,師亦打。實旨出,師云:「臥具是麻布竹J39nB445_p0349c05底,意旨如何?」旨豎一指,師亦打。旨喝,師復打。覺心出,J39nB445_p0349c06師云:「汝試道看。」心云:「我這裡卻難開口。」師亦打。心禮J39nB445_p0349c07拜,師復打。梵音出,師云:「進前些來。」音進前,師便打。音J39nB445_p0349c08禮拜,師復打。貫之出,師云:「退後些去。」之退後,師亦打。J39nB445_p0349c09祥玉出,師云:「汝見箇甚麼便笑?」玉無語,師亦打。玉禮J39nB445_p0349c10拜,師復打。穎若出,師云:「禮拜底是誰?」若云:「爐中一炷J39nB445_p0349c11香。」師云。「太遠生。」若禮拜。師亦打。轉識出,師豎起拄杖,J39nB445_p0349c12識念佛一聲,師亦打。碧松出,師云:「今日也要問汝。」松J39nB445_p0349c13擬議,師便打,松禮拜,師復打。省初出,師云:「親切道一J39nB445_p0349c14句。」初云:「受戒已畢。」師云:「戒箇甚麼?」初禮拜,師亦打。渟J39nB445_p0349c15如出,師云:「念佛底是誰?」如云:「正好念佛。」師亦打。應天J39nB445_p0349c16出,師云:「汝一向慣笑,果有笑裡刀麼?」天無語,師亦打。J39nB445_p0349c17皎月出,師畫○相云:「還見麼?」月云:「我未出門。」師亦打。J39nB445_p0349c18不息出,師舉拄杖云:「這箇與你那一指,是同是別?」息J39nB445_p0349c19云:「不別。」師云:「是同麼?」息無語,師亦打。誕先出,師云:「今J39nB445_p0349c20日不打汝。」先禮拜,師亦打。日初出,師向初問訊,初亦J39nB445_p0349c21問訊,師亦打。維那出禮拜云:「離此二邊,卻請指示。」師J39nB445_p0349c22以拄杖卓一卓,那歸位。師復豎拄杖云:「即此用。且道J39nB445_p0349c23離此用又作麼生?」擲下拄杖云:「見上座連日冒風。」
J39nB445_p0349c24為佛幻法兄起龕。「謂兄是佛,佛亦不為;謂兄既幻,幻J39nB445_p0349c25亦何有?畢竟如何?」舉手引龕,云:「末後一著不相饒,直J39nB445_p0349c26入千峰萬峰去。」舉火。高聲喚云:「佛兄生也未曾生,佛J39nB445_p0349c27兄滅也本不滅,生滅之說非吾兄,吾兄且自示生滅。」J39nB445_p0349c28竄下火炬,云:「休將面目委丘墟,腦後須懸三觔鐵。」
J39nB445_p0349c29過西龍,禮巴掌和尚真。「昔日傳燈院裡相識不相逢,J39nB445_p0349c30今日西龍菴中相逢不相識。雖是冤債有由,怎奈放J39nB445_p0350a01翁不過。大眾知麼?」喝一喝。
舉:「僧問五雲:『人人盡道J39nB445_p0350a02見性成佛,成佛即不問,這見字還著得麼?』雲作嘔吐J39nB445_p0350a03聲。」師云:「太平本是將軍定,不許將軍見太平。頌云:從J39nB445_p0350a04來到岸不須船,踏到長安信自然。知覺見聞俱蕩盡,J39nB445_p0350a05了知終不類金仙。」
舉:「僧問五雲:『抱璞求鑒時如何?』J39nB445_p0350a06雲云:『汝是甚麼人?』僧擬議,雲云:『頑石頭。』」師云:「元來元J39nB445_p0350a07來。頌曰:擬將鋀石作黃金,明眼宗師不可瞞。誰知璞J39nB445_p0350a08玉成頑石,也覺慚惶求鑒心。」
舉:「僧問五雲:『擬心不J39nB445_p0350a09得時如何?』雲云:『放下著。』」師云:「舉心動念,轉見轉差。纔J39nB445_p0350a10有絲毫頭,便有絲毫頭。到這裡,只得意絕情忘,方與J39nB445_p0350a11他合。委悉麼?罔象只因無意得,離婁失在有心親。頌J39nB445_p0350a12曰:平常無事漫追尋,擬涉思惟總不親。無限野雲風J39nB445_p0350a13捲盡,一輪明月在天心。」
別菴禪師同門錄卷上終
