J38nB413_p0407a02仲尼曰:「溫伯雪子目擊而J38nB413_p0407a03道已存。」其東巖大師之謂J38nB413_p0407a04歟?師提一楖栗,走郊市中,J38nB413_p0407a05不修邊幅,未或能定其為J38nB413_p0407a06珍御、為垢衣者。顧索余在J38nB413_p0407a07稠人,班荊麈談,露布心腑,J38nB413_p0407a08大不異夙昔相識。比再晤,J38nB413_p0407a09則出所著黃連語錄二卷J38nB413_p0407a10示之,又何其小撞而發大J38nB413_p0407a11響?獅子之捉一兔,固爾哉!J38nB413_p0407a12然而文彩既彰,意句相到,J38nB413_p0407a13自非杜撰禪和,亦豈欲抬J38nB413_p0407a14搦公案?但拈兩端,釘橛虛J38nB413_p0407a15空,更取拔橛,且機語如河J38nB413_p0407b01沙,亦頗近于頭出頭沒。惟J38nB413_p0407b02以不標勝義,故亦不見負J38nB413_p0407b03門,此則師所獨長,而余所J38nB413_p0407b04為心盡耳。夫師之求友,若J38nB413_p0407b05將以腳尖踢出一佛者,而J38nB413_p0407b06余肯交臂而失一師耶?附J38nB413_p0407b07讚數言,雖未足備協唱,聊J38nB413_p0407b08志遇焉。師嗣法于金明和J38nB413_p0407b09尚,為是以續斷橋一枝燈J38nB413_p0407b10也。乃斷橋之後而有斯人,J38nB413_p0407b11寧惟不絕如線乎?蓋亦使J38nB413_p0407b12斷橋坐大矣。

序
J38nB413_p0407c02東崖禪師者,臨濟宗斷橋下十J38nB413_p0407c03五世,金明介和尚之嗣子也。歲J38nB413_p0407c04在乙未,受星源黃連之請,學人J38nB413_p0407c05機器,輯語成錄,傳播叢林。適師J38nB413_p0407c06移錫西江,偈憩百福,余不住▆J38nB413_p0407c07與師相見旅舍,藹然如舊識也,J38nB413_p0407c08因得讀其錄,而遂屬余序之。余J38nB413_p0407c09幸非多智老翁,不勞師揜門▆J38nB413_p0407c10語,近者三寸不律,與髮同髡,亦J38nB413_p0407c11何取挾以讚歎其萬分一乎?雖J38nB413_p0407c12然,余於師殆幾幾有三緣焉:金J38nB413_p0407c13明塗毒,聞者必死,遠聞者徐死,J38nB413_p0407c14卒隔千里外無從一聞;早歲則J38nB413_p0407c15宦游其地,寶蓋繡幢尚可述而J38nB413_p0408a01志也,一緣也。黃連一味塞斷天J38nB413_p0408a02下喉嚨,啞者得嘗,何口可說?亦J38nB413_p0408a03卒隔千里外無從一嚼;中年則J38nB413_p0408a04客游其地,翠屏香澗尚可想而J38nB413_p0408a05褱也,一緣也。臨濟諸老曾為張J38nB413_p0408a06拙說偈、韓休安名,覿面相呈,不J38nB413_p0408a07惜蜣螂糞彈,惟斷橋一派現等J38nB413_p0408a08瓊臺,仰望停雲、俛窺流水,雖佛J38nB413_p0408a09法無二,而偏指不參,并隔四五J38nB413_p0408a10十年外,無從一決。垂老能更僕J38nB413_p0408a11其世,而莫逆其人,醇乳醴泉,更J38nB413_p0408a12可挹而注也,又一緣也。師以儒J38nB413_p0408a13家少年,及心空第,方憶丹霞騎J38nB413_p0408a14古佛之風,將推倒一世,而襟期J38nB413_p0408a15整秀,落落穆穆,松火橘湯,怡然J38nB413_p0408b01自適,楊岐雅志,復見於今矣。至J38nB413_p0408b02若說法親切,殺人活人,與人奪J38nB413_p0408b03人,語句具在,諸方明眼,一一能J38nB413_p0408b04辯之。他如或代或別,或拈或頌,J38nB413_p0408b05自然月印,絕不雷同,皆纚纚可J38nB413_p0408b06發人深省。師蓋以黃連為濫觴J38nB413_p0408b07耳,異日流通,如江如河,固不可J38nB413_p0408b08得而力遏也已。人亦有言:文章J38nB413_p0408b09盛而儒術衰,語錄多而佛法少。J38nB413_p0408b10其勢不能不厲禁云然,要非通J38nB413_p0408b11論也。使一喝三拳,足明大事,一J38nB413_p0408b12切有句,都歸默然,則百世而下,J38nB413_p0408b13尚不知臨濟為何物,而況斷橋J38nB413_p0408b14哉?學人之不能已於斯刻也,殆J38nB413_p0408b15為慧命計也。

J38nB413_p0409a02 J38nB413_p0409a03順治乙未年,師受星源黃連寺眾護法請,於十月初J38nB413_p0409a04二日進院。至山門云:「八字門打開了也,諸人一出一J38nB413_p0409a05入,還知麼?」喝一喝,卓拄杖便入。
J38nB413_p0409a06佛殿。云:「巍巍堂堂,煒煒煌煌,令人可瞻可仰。新長老J38nB413_p0409a07到這裏,弗施三拜,要且不甘。」遂展坐具。
J38nB413_p0409a08伽藍。云:「秉正直心,無偏無黨,此日囑君,免諸措罔」。乃J38nB413_p0409a09插香。
J38nB413_p0409a10祖師。云:「鏟昔日魔風,起今時痼疾,看者一隊古錐,爭J38nB413_p0409a11向黃連坐地?」良久,云:「針劄不入。」
J38nB413_p0409a12方丈。師拈拄杖云:「把佛祖關,驗龍蛇句,八達七通,貴J38nB413_p0409a13知落處。諸人還知落處麼?」乃以拄杖卓一下,云:「丁一J38nB413_p0409a14卓二。」
J38nB413_p0409a15當日,眾請上堂。師至座前,拈帖示眾云:「文詞句義,親J38nB413_p0409a16從諸臺護信根上所生,增一毫不得,咸一毫不得。若J38nB413_p0409a17要字腳分明,仰煩維那對眾剖析。」宣讀畢,J38nB413_p0409a18師指法座,云:「虛空刻畫,猶自不堪。欲會鑄印登壇,看J38nB413_p0409a19取將軍號令。」震聲一喝,便陞座。拈香,云:「此瓣香,九天J38nB413_p0409a20雨露,泉石蒙恩,爇向爐中,端為祝延J38nB413_p0409a21今上皇帝聖壽萬歲,恭願常歌舜日、永享堯年,區內顯J38nB413_p0409a22乎至尊、八表誠為治化。」次拈香,云:「此瓣香,至大至剛,J38nB413_p0409a23惟忠惟孝。爇向爐中,奉為滿朝臣宰、本省當道諸官、J38nB413_p0409a24名公縉士,恭願高遷爵位,輔佐王畿。」又拈香,云:「此瓣J38nB413_p0409a25香,金剛慧種,劫石彌堅,爇向爐中,奉為本山檀越主、J38nB413_p0409a26遠近眾耆舊,伏願夙薰般若,妙契心宗。」再拈香,云:「此J38nB413_p0409a27瓣香,根源有據,非同陌路讎家,一旦跨腳范蠡湖,被J38nB413_p0409a28這老漢興起滔天之浪,而今不敢隱瞞,爇向爐中,專J38nB413_p0409a29為供養現住浙江嘉興府金明堂上傳臨濟正宗、斷J38nB413_p0409a30橋嫡派三十一世本師介菴老和尚,用酬法乳之恩。」J38nB413_p0409b01遂斂衣就坐。上首白椎竟,師豎起拂子,召大眾,云:「還J38nB413_p0409b02會麼?若向這裏會去,多少省力。設使更駕祥雲,知他J38nB413_p0409b03是第幾義?莫有作家仙陀,試出眾道看。」問繁不錄乃云:「諸J38nB413_p0409b04佛命脈,覿面提持;祖師心源,徹頭徹尾。孤峰劄足,獨J38nB413_p0409b05自稱尊;鬧市橫身,卷舒方外。驅雷門於布鼓,列萬象J38nB413_p0409b06於崖前。撫掌呵呵,突出虛空面目;南看北斗,豁開千J38nB413_p0409b07聖頂𩕳。說甚麼臨濟三玄、洞宗五位?拈條楖栗,拄杖J38nB413_p0409b08敲唱雙行;舉起烏黑豆,素珠換他人眼。豈知黃連古J38nB413_p0409b09剎舊日規模?茲當運轉洪鈞,敷揚祖道。梅芬馥郁,鼻J38nB413_p0409b10尖頭暗度清香;鳥囀深林,造化間別傳春信。須知我J38nB413_p0409b11衲僧門下發向上機、演第一義,更欲克啟臨濟家聲、J38nB413_p0409b12斷橋的旨,早是屈辱他先宗、埋沒後學,柰因情不獲J38nB413_p0409b13已,退身何及,今日又被現前大眾拽上犁耙,鼓兩片J38nB413_p0409b14皮、掉三寸舌,胡言寱語,取笑作家。雖然,人境雙施,必J38nB413_p0409b15也應時所重。且祝聖開堂一句如何道?寶殿爐煙凝J38nB413_p0409b16紫氣,千秋嘉運沐皇恩。」復舉:「保壽開堂,三聖推出一J38nB413_p0409b17僧,保壽便打,聖云:『與麼為人,非但瞎卻這僧眼,瞎卻J38nB413_p0409b18鎮州一城人眼去在。』保壽擲下拄杖,便歸方丈。」師云:J38nB413_p0409b19「保壽、三聖善能甄別,一挨一拶,各露閫外威權。仔細J38nB413_p0409b20看來,未免遭他此僧笑怪。黃連這裏雖無把斷封疆,J38nB413_p0409b21盡天下人到此亦須斂衽而退。山僧恁麼道,敢與古J38nB413_p0409b22人還分優劣也無?橫按莫邪全正令,太平寰宇斬癡J38nB413_p0409b23頑。」復喝一喝,卓拄杖,上首結椎,云:「諦觀法王法,法王J38nB413_p0409b24法如是。」便下座。
J38nB413_p0409b25晚參。師云:「近時叢林或三百、五百聚頭便作佛法商J38nB413_p0409b26量,且不知古聖先賢曲垂方便,九喻三週,故乃憫子J38nB413_p0409b27之誠,而謂諸兄弟揭露這一著子。山僧自揣寡德,拙J38nB413_p0409b28守茅茨,爭敢妄起為人之念?今日既然叨居祖席,不J38nB413_p0409b29可總成杜絕去也。」以拂子拂一拂,云:「大眾見麼?一手J38nB413_p0409b30不合拍,兩手鳴摑摑。要在諸人各發歡喜心,輔弼叢J38nB413_p0409c01林、贊助知識,方可定千古之宏規,挽末秋之法弊。即J38nB413_p0409c02今還有恁麼人共相出手者麼?」良久,云:「家肥生孝子,J38nB413_p0409c03國霸有謀臣。」擊拂子三下。
J38nB413_p0409c04上堂。舉:「雪竇示眾云:『義出豐年,儉生不孝。於衲僧門J38nB413_p0409c05下是放行?是把住?若人道得,老僧分半院與伊住。』圓J38nB413_p0409c06悟和尚拈云:『雪竇病多諳藥性,經效始傳人。眾中或J38nB413_p0409c07有個知豐、知儉、知放行、知把住底,亦何必分半院與J38nB413_p0409c08伊住?燒香發愿,只圖他早有個院子住,使嘗些滋味,J38nB413_p0409c09且免得窮廝煎、餓廝炒。』」師乃呵呵大笑:「慚愧煞人!圓J38nB413_p0409c10悟老祖舉到這裏,可謂明古今、識邪正,垂一言半句J38nB413_p0409c11啟發後昆。山僧今日冷眼看來,此間亦無豐、亦無儉,J38nB413_p0409c12亦不放行、亦不把住,亦不必燒香發愿。現成有個破J38nB413_p0409c13院子,若人道得,山僧直下全手分付;若道不得,爭柰J38nB413_p0409c14汝等機思遲鈍?非謂我今有所吝惜也。」良久,云:「見之J38nB413_p0409c15不取,思之千里。」下座。
J38nB413_p0409c16普渡菴無住禪宿六旬華誕,率徒方明、淨明、徹明等J38nB413_p0409c17請師上堂。白椎竟,楚石出問:「霞臨普渡,日貫龜湖,老J38nB413_p0409c18師花甲添籌,請師舉揚個事。」提起坐具打○相,「者箇J38nB413_p0409c19還有生滅也無?」師便喝,石云:「恁麼則不生不滅無量J38nB413_p0409c20壽,永作長年不老人。」師云:「花雨亂繽紛。」石云:「因齋慶J38nB413_p0409c21讚蒙師指,獨露全機事若何?」師便打,云:「一棒也少不J38nB413_p0409c22得。」問:「壽山高聳,福海淵深,請問和尚喚甚麼作壽山?」J38nB413_p0409c23師卓拄杖一下,僧云:「只如老宿六旬已前還有此瑞J38nB413_p0409c24也無?」師云:「好生薦取。」僧云:「六旬已後是何境界?」師便J38nB413_p0409c25打,僧云:「正當恁麼時又作麼生?」師云:「且禮拜著。」僧禮J38nB413_p0409c26拜起,云:「水向石邊流出冷,風從花裏過來香。」師云:「更J38nB413_p0409c27要念篇章。」問:「無住老師為報母恩……」語未竟,師云:「領取J38nB413_p0409c28話頭。」僧云:「父母未生前一著如何指示?」師云:「你且道J38nB413_p0409c29即今在甚麼處?」僧云:「已生後又如何?」師便打,僧云:「茲J38nB413_p0409c30當花甲之辰,報恩一句又作麼生?」師云:「空中電影,雨J38nB413_p0410a01後雷聲。」僧云:「為復是敲唱雙行?為復是兩彩一賽?」師J38nB413_p0410a02云:「且過那邊。」僧云:「四眾蒙恩,人人瞻仰去也。」師云:「三J38nB413_p0410a03十年後不得忘卻。」僧禮拜,歸位。師乃云:「春王布令,百J38nB413_p0410a04谷回菲,翡翠亂鳴,水流花笑。若也向上論去,何妨蝶J38nB413_p0410a05夢遽遽?更期撒手那邊,契證宗門玄旨。當堂慵 正J38nB413_p0410a06坐,今朝卻許商量;不赴兩頭機,也須勘過了打。山僧J38nB413_p0410a07恁麼道,直得鳳棲山起舞、歐峰頂雲翻、龜湖灘下水J38nB413_p0410a08急迅流,且未是諸人措足處。大眾!既無措足處,秪如J38nB413_p0410a09無住耆宿住此本菴二十餘載,接待往來畢竟承誰J38nB413_p0410a10恩力?眾中倘有個道得恰好底,不用山僧高登曲彔,J38nB413_p0410a11慶祝伊花甲之期,纔作此念,早與趙州齊年了也。雖J38nB413_p0410a12然,事不容嘿,復聽說偈,聊表末後殷勤:南山松翠喜J38nB413_p0410a13凝眸,煦日鸞祥萬壑幽,六十春秋君記取,從來海屋J38nB413_p0410a14共添籌。」卓拄杖,下座。
J38nB413_p0410a15上堂。云:「古今尊宿拈鎚豎拂,曲盡時機,檢點將來,猶J38nB413_p0410a16落教乘,未是宗門極則。若論宗門極則事,直向佛祖J38nB413_p0410a17那邊更那邊行履,方可一踏鴻門兩扇開。假使看錮J38nB413_p0410a18鏴著生鐵,老僧在你諸人腳底。參。」
J38nB413_p0410a19上堂。師舉:「古者云:『淨潔打疊了也,卻近前問我覓,我J38nB413_p0410a20劈脊與你一棒。有一棒到你,你須生慚愧;無一棒到J38nB413_p0410a21你,你又向甚麼處會?』古德恁麼說話,太煞不徇人情。J38nB413_p0410a22山僧這裏另開方便路徑,使一切人易知易曉。」乃召J38nB413_p0410a23大眾,云:「汝等總若向前就我覓,我劈脊與你一棒。有J38nB413_p0410a24一棒到你,你也須知恩;無一棒到你,你不得自生退J38nB413_p0410a25屈。諸仁者!還委其間落處麼?」良久,云:「不可更與諸人J38nB413_p0410a26道盡。」拽拄杖,竟歸方丈。
J38nB413_p0410a27因雪示眾。師云:「昨夜蒼穹猶布陣,今朝大雪滿山頭,J38nB413_p0410a28追陪事事無佳趣,煮茗圍爐快活休。林下道人得與J38nB413_p0410a29麼真實受用,田地優悠。曾記當時老趙州,無賓主句J38nB413_p0410a30有來由,殷勤為報眾禪流,堂內底擁衾暗坐,堂外底J38nB413_p0410b01好事添愁。秪如雪凍水枯之時,又且如何話會?風光J38nB413_p0410b02無限少人酬。」乃擲下拂子。
J38nB413_p0410b03上堂。「雲從龍,風從虎,踏破草鞋休莽鹵。山前穗麥熟J38nB413_p0410b04多時,太平欣欣樂寰宇。阿呵呵,好大哥。」遂以拄杖作J38nB413_p0410b05舞,下座。
J38nB413_p0410b06晚參。舉:「雪峰拈拄杖示眾云:『我這個為中下機人。』時J38nB413_p0410b07有僧出問云:『忽遇上上機人來時如何?』峰拈卻拄杖。J38nB413_p0410b08雲門云:『我不似雪峰打破這葛藤。』乃拈拄杖云:『我這J38nB413_p0410b09個為中下機人。』時有僧問:『忽遇上上機人來時如何?』J38nB413_p0410b10雲門便打。」師云:「二員作者據條拄杖勘辨龍蛇,直下J38nB413_p0410b11轉機猶欠圓活在。山僧見處與古今迥別。」乃拈拄杖J38nB413_p0410b12云:「我這個為中下機人。設有僧出問:『忽遇上上機人J38nB413_p0410b13來時如何?』直以拄杖趁出云:『且在門外立。』山僧恁麼J38nB413_p0410b14荅話,還契他古人意也無?相逢相見呵呵笑,更有春J38nB413_p0410b15風春又春。」
J38nB413_p0410b16結制,示眾。云:「山中清淡家風,幸有衲子相聚,九旬把J38nB413_p0410b17住繩頭,不許胡覷亂覷。一期之內務要諸人剋辦己J38nB413_p0410b18躬,二時粥飯向缽盂邊摸著匙箸,不作佛法商量,不J38nB413_p0410b19作世諦流布。若是了事丈夫,但恁麼去照顧,撞倒堂J38nB413_p0410b20中露柱。且問汝等:長連床上消息又作麼生?切不得J38nB413_p0410b21道:山僧便如此口絮。」下座。
J38nB413_p0410b22晚參。舉:「金明和尚起期入堂,示眾云:『結制以來又七J38nB413_p0410b23日,眉毛相拄,燈籠露柱絕消息,試請𨁝跳看。後園竹J38nB413_p0410b24子數百竿,且謾尋行數褁,橫者自橫直者直,築著磕J38nB413_p0410b25著,咄!是甚碗躂丘?』大眾!還知山僧判斷底落處麼?具J38nB413_p0410b26眼的就此七日內研窮到透頂透底,便見我金明本J38nB413_p0410b27師急切告報。倘或胡穿亂鑿,向後園竹子數百竿處J38nB413_p0410b28會得來,亦不免遞相鈍置。何謂如此?休將閑學解,埋J38nB413_p0410b29沒祖師心。」
J38nB413_p0410b30示眾。云:「我有一句子要與諸人說破,且道是那一句?」J38nB413_p0410c01豎起竹篦,召大眾云:「直下來也,急著眼覷。」便擲下。
J38nB413_p0410c02佛成道日,上堂。「雪山老子甚奇怪,夜睹明星曾捉敗,J38nB413_p0410c03六年麻麥充饑腸,一朝剛得大自在。鳧短鶴長,剋由J38nB413_p0410c04叵耐,說法四十九年,談經三百餘會,忽地有個憍陳J38nB413_p0410c05如尊者出眾,呵呵大笑,云:『瞿曇!不見一法即如來,是J38nB413_p0410c06則名為觀自在。』」擲下拄杖,下座。
J38nB413_p0410c07解制,示眾。「現成公案絕淆訛,枯木堂前錯路多,萬里J38nB413_p0410c08直須無寸草,試問禪流會也麼?若也會去,不必別走J38nB413_p0410c09程途,自有安國治邦;其或未然,今日布袋頭開,莫道J38nB413_p0410c10不與諸人說破好。」擊拂子,下座。
J38nB413_p0410c11示眾。舉:「溈山泥壁次,李軍容來具公棠,直至師背後,J38nB413_p0410c12端簡而立。山回首見,便側泥盤作接泥勢,軍容便轉J38nB413_p0410c13笏作進泥勢,山拋下泥盤,與軍容歸方丈。」師云:「看他J38nB413_p0410c14溈山與軍容真是佛法中人,緝熙恭敬,綽綽乎有餘J38nB413_p0410c15裕矣。若據本分論量,溈山拋下泥盤,卻瞞軍容一點J38nB413_p0410c16不得。然雖如此,功不浪施。」
J38nB413_p0410c17辛丑冬,金明首座寮秉拂小參。師拈拄杖云:「不用如J38nB413_p0410c18何若何,有單刀直入者,便請出眾相見。」一僧出便喝,J38nB413_p0410c19師便棒云:「汝不妨伶俐。」僧拂坐具便歸眾,師云:「看你J38nB413_p0410c20納敗。」又僧問:「人人道鼻孔撩天,個個腳跟點地,原何J38nB413_p0410c21不知自己落處?」師卓拄杖云:「還會麼?」僧云:「虛空粉碎,J38nB413_p0410c22大地平沉,更向何處著腳?」師云:「你即今在甚麼處安J38nB413_p0410c23身立命?」僧云:「學人舉古一偈:如何是十方同聚會?」師J38nB413_p0410c24云:「大家在這裡。」僧云:「如何是個個學無為?」師云:「請過J38nB413_p0410c25一邊著。」僧云:「如何是選佛場?」師云:「這是甚麼所在?」僧J38nB413_p0410c26云:「如何是心空及第歸?」師便打,僧云:「四句蒙師指示,J38nB413_p0410c27虛空撫掌,露柱生光去也。」師云:「禮拜了退。」僧云:「也須J38nB413_p0410c28學人讚嘆。」師云:「大眾笑你。」乃云:「憶某昔年行腳諸方,J38nB413_p0410c29克志慕道,參叩十餘員大尊宿,波波挈挈,弄盡神通,J38nB413_p0410c30終未遂我生平之事。後來被一陣業風吹到金明,遭J38nB413_p0411a01我老和尚一頓熱棒打失眼睛,直得全身放下。這段J38nB413_p0411a02公案,若非夙有師資之緣,千萬人中爭能容易搆取?J38nB413_p0411a03今日蒙方丈和尚命我小參,璨上座到這裏豈可吝J38nB413_p0411a04辭?不免東屙西撒,塗污諸兄弟了也。其間設有個傍J38nB413_p0411a05不肯底出來道:『老老大大,面皮厚多少?』也許伊是個J38nB413_p0411a06英俊衲僧。」目視大眾。「有麼?有麼?」良久云:「靈鶴不棲無J38nB413_p0411a07影樹,鳳兒豈戀破山窠?」卓拄杖一下。
問荅機緣
J38nB413_p0411a09僧問:「如何是賓中賓?」師云:「國內有誰能按劍?」僧云:「如J38nB413_p0411a10何是賓中主?」師云:「攜手上高樓。」僧云:「如何是主中賓?」J38nB413_p0411a11師云:「清風與白月。」僧云:「如何是主中主?」師云:「自出洞J38nB413_p0411a12來無敵手,得饒人處且饒人。」
J38nB413_p0411a13師一日同眾擁爐次,僧問:「如何是祖師西來意?」師云:J38nB413_p0411a14「一爐焰火,幾片枯薪。」僧云:「不會。」師云:「通身煖活。」
J38nB413_p0411a15僧參,師問云:「人喚你作達摩大師,是否?」僧擬對,師云:J38nB413_p0411a16「元來不是。」
J38nB413_p0411a17馬君信居士禮拜,求指示工夫。師撫士背一下,云:「會J38nB413_p0411a18麼?」士擬議,師云:「鈍置煞人。」

J38nB413_p0411a25同參僧相見次,師云:「汝既與我同參,試呈同參人事J38nB413_p0411a26看。」僧云:「又多了這些。」師云:「且放三十棒。」
J38nB413_p0411a27僧參,師問云:「汝一向在那裡住?」僧云:「東西南北。」師云:J38nB413_p0411a28「我且問你,即今在何處住?」僧云:「老老大大問甚麼住J38nB413_p0411a29處?」師厲聲云:「話頭也不識。」僧云:「當面錯過。」師叱云:「這J38nB413_p0411a30樣亂統。」乃拈拄杖打趁。

J38nB413_p0411b03一僧出禮拜,師拈拄杖云:「速道!速道!」僧無語,師打云:J38nB413_p0411b04「這漆桶!」
J38nB413_p0411b05師喚僧:「藏拙。」僧便至,師云:「我喚藏拙,汝來作甚麼?」僧J38nB413_p0411b06擬議,師便打,云:「這不唧溜漢。」
J38nB413_p0411b07師問僧:「你背後底是那個?」僧云:「某甲初參。」師云:「汝在J38nB413_p0411b08堂中三日了,還是初參?」僧無對。師云:「經行去。」
J38nB413_p0411b09僧禮拜,師云:「還我話頭來。」僧云:「求和尚指示。」師云:「那J38nB413_p0411b10有許多指示?」僧佇立,師以香板擉退。
J38nB413_p0411b11一僧出眾作禮,師云:「禮拜底是阿誰?」僧無語,師叱云:J38nB413_p0411b12「自己也不識。」
J38nB413_p0411b13師問僧:「不假三寸舌根,試道一句看。」僧云:「敗闕不少。」J38nB413_p0411b14師便打,云:「你又來亂道。」復喚一僧云:「汝作麼生?」僧云:J38nB413_p0411b15「某甲禮拜和尚。」便拜,師亦打。
J38nB413_p0411b16僧靈根參,師問云:「汝是靈根麼?」僧云:「是。」師云:「天生得?J38nB413_p0411b17從人得?」僧云:「某甲到這裡不會。」師云:「與麼則不靈根J38nB413_p0411b18也。」僧禮拜,師笑之。
J38nB413_p0411b19一日天雨,師顧僧云:「簷頭是甚麼響?」僧云:「某甲不知。」J38nB413_p0411b20師側耳云:「雨聲也不會。」
J38nB413_p0411b21僧請益,云:「弟子睡魔不醒,求和尚指示。」師云:「阿誰不J38nB413_p0411b22醒?」僧云:「某甲。」師云:「那個是某甲?」僧擬議,師云:「這掠虛J38nB413_p0411b23漢。」便打。
J38nB413_p0411b24師與同安法璽和尚溪邊散步,安云:「真水急迅流,無J38nB413_p0411b25他措足處。」師把住安云:「即今老兄在甚麼處?」安云:「也J38nB413_p0411b26直得起舞。」師相與大笑。
J38nB413_p0411b27金散公居士問:「如何是半峰境?」師云:「一塔巍峨。」士云:J38nB413_p0411b28「如何是半峰事?」師云:「坐立儼然。」士云:「向上還有事也J38nB413_p0411b29無?」師云:「居士但向下會取。」

J38nB413_p0411c02前扺三角,承法兄大教,又兼以厚誼貺我,謝謝。迨夫J38nB413_p0411c03祖庭秋晚,衲子僥浮,惟在得人之難。昨觀蘄黃風化,J38nB413_p0411c04流俗溷入,真假不分,當此之時,更要力挽頹波可耳。J38nB413_p0411c05老法兄福德,諸方多有仰慕,而弟恨不能步武,所謂J38nB413_p0411c06春虫一鳴,夏虫不可與語者是矣。惟冀法兄坐振三J38nB413_p0411c07角峰頭,使魔風自化,海內象龍日漸趨于座下,非獨J38nB413_p0411c08法門有光,且老人亦望重也。弟別後復過多雲,蒙大J38nB413_p0411c09峰兄盛念,相留度歲,忝在同氣連枝,豈可負之而去?J38nB413_p0411c10只得暫放情懷,煨榾柮,快賞爐頭。山中修造事煩,統J38nB413_p0411c11祈吾兄為法保愛。不畫。
與多雲和尚書
J38nB413_p0411c13煙雲縹緲,客路蹁躚,靜想有無窮妙意。若非法兄過J38nB413_p0411c14量人,爭知有與麼事?前別匆匆,被大水所阻,蒙贈舟J38nB413_p0411c15公,且得一帆之便。遊廬山,覽歐阜,常以客途為家活J38nB413_p0411c16耳。春來又經遠涉近,喜有兩禪客輔佐,將來佛法頂J38nB413_p0411c17卜闡揚也。每憶故人,恨未聚首,望雲山疊嶂,不覺引J38nB413_p0411c18動。筆興牢騷,謹此代面。

J38nB413_p0411c21鏡水戒足,婺邑東鄉李氏子也。家世業儒,博通外學,J38nB413_p0411c22誠事佛語。早年父母俱喪,遂發奮出家,直究禪理,恒J38nB413_p0411c23以生死大事為懷。每詰之諸僧輩,竟無一人以此事J38nB413_p0411c24為伊決擇,故爾輒自謂云:「佛法為難,得遇大善知識J38nB413_p0411c25尤難也。」乙未冬,予尋歸匡廬靜室,道經婺東,寓黃連J38nB413_p0411c26古剎。一日,戒足來參,私乃吐露肝膽,山僧默契之,此J38nB413_p0411c27子真有學佛之志,但不能遇斯人之激發耳。所以然J38nB413_p0411c28者,譬如世之良匠,必假規矩繩墨而乃成其器,戒足J38nB413_p0411c29勉乎哉!予生平最喜人朴實,見其本色英特,匪同悠J38nB413_p0411c30悠漾漾、一暴十寒之類,殊覺異也。山僧於佛成道日,J38nB413_p0412a01即與授五八戒,更贈以偈,戒足宜自勉旃。偈曰:大丈J38nB413_p0412a02夫,操上志,佛法精通本無二,打頭端未遇明師,致使J38nB413_p0412a03而今遭鈍置。脫生死,要超方,快便逢人好酌量,撞個J38nB413_p0412a04作家施辣手,阿誰直下肯承當?苦參尋,急追究,悟徹J38nB413_p0412a05身心原這個,假饒向外弄癡團,當面卻教成話墮。若J38nB413_p0412a06與麼,稱俊哉,略脫胸襟無點埃,搬柴運水家常活,一J38nB413_p0412a07一從茲眼豁開。出叢林,入保社,衲衣下事有差別,當J38nB413_p0412a08人若未諳來機,空走雲山千萬疊。老婆禪,無剩語,此J38nB413_p0412a09事分明為伊舉,莫學時流逐隊過,潦倒還教未輕黃。J38nB413_p0412a10鏡禪鏡禪須自知,相逢要辨主中主。
示王少湖居士
J38nB413_p0412a12宗門一著,別無他解,只要離心意識參,出聖凡路學。J38nB413_p0412a13更有一等聰明伶俐者,不信有祖師悟門,強以言句J38nB413_p0412a14配合,歷涉多岐,食人殘噎,乃至古今聖賢修行之要J38nB413_p0412a15節自相違悖也。王子少湖,奇偉之士,齋素已久,留心J38nB413_p0412a16內典,甚未嘗有廢,惜乎恐溺知見而反失穎悟之妙J38nB413_p0412a17理。山野當令掃除,參個父母未生前一著,如癡似兀,J38nB413_p0412a18灼然得到克己復禮、天下歸仁地位,與凡夫俗子大J38nB413_p0412a19不相侔矣。一日,提挈八齡尊堂并及幼子披誠皈向,J38nB413_p0412a20此念世稀美其稚孩不昧夙因,真驊騮之可羨。然固J38nB413_p0412a21深知居士願力再來,正在一方垂手接人,秖貴闔門J38nB413_p0412a22回善,在在世世同為佛家眷屬也。山野故不負公之J38nB413_p0412a23黽勉,以弁數言,聊為進道之策。汝毋惑諸!汝毋惑諸!

J38nB413_p0415a02 J38nB413_p0415a03J38nB413_p0415a04蘄州仰天窩,示眾。師云:「流光易邁,日月推遷,去聖時J38nB413_p0415a05遙,人多懈怠。山僧纔離浙省,已到蘄黃,直欲遍訪精J38nB413_p0415a06藍,舉揚法道。在今雲窩片地,玉潤含輝,不妨就此韜J38nB413_p0415a07藏,刀耕火種。古德插鍬叉手說大義,甚有來由?輥木J38nB413_p0415a08毬、解打鼓,一場敗露。山僧雖無如是曲調,行則與諸J38nB413_p0415a09人同行、坐則與諸人同坐,乃至拈匙把箸、開單展缽,J38nB413_p0415a10恰共汝等商量,搆得者免使驅馳,未搆者勿生憍慢。J38nB413_p0415a11正當今日,入院一句如何施設?掀翻海嶽求知己,撥J38nB413_p0415a12轉乾坤致太平。」擲拂子,下座。
J38nB413_p0415a13茶話。僧出,問:「圓通不開生藥舖,單單只賣死貓頭,某J38nB413_p0415a14甲有疑,請和尚說破。」師云:「汝且吃茶著。」僧云:「這是古J38nB413_p0415a15人道過底。」師云:「你分上作麼生?」僧擬議,師云:「也要學J38nB413_p0415a16亂統。」乃云:「居士特入山,殷勤請茶話,滿堂雲水僧,賴J38nB413_p0415a17是無酬價。開口盡胡禪,東西便廝罵,卻遇明眼人,也J38nB413_p0415a18只得一跳。好似阿家姑,全不識羞怕,巧舌縱千般,難J38nB413_p0415a19免知音笑。大眾!笑則且止,秪如今晚喫茶,汝等還知J38nB413_p0415a20茶裏消息麼?」良久,左右顧視,云:「上士一決一切了,中J38nB413_p0415a21下多聞多不信。」遂拍香几,便起。
J38nB413_p0415a22師病,示眾。云:「山僧日患瘧病,正當寒熱交加、冷氣相J38nB413_p0415a23接底時節,眾中還有為山僧作主者麼?」眾無對。良久,J38nB413_p0415a24自代云:「已遲八刻。」
J38nB413_p0415a25示眾。舉:「南明和尚住山,雪嶠大師呈偈云:『從來無物J38nB413_p0415a26可同儕,自向山中自活埋,五十年來履踐事,娘生一J38nB413_p0415a27隻臭皮鞋。』南荅偈云:『既云無物可同儕,誰向山中誰J38nB413_p0415a28活埋?五十年前娘未養,喚他甚麼作皮鞋?』」師云:「二老J38nB413_p0415a29宿宗門巨匠,等閒發露底蘊,各有為人眼目。山僧今J38nB413_p0415a30日續貂,敢和一偈:天涯踏遍覓同儕,闢得禪關正好J38nB413_p0415b01埋,翻憶古錐當日事,無端露布這皮鞋。」
J38nB413_p0415b02示眾。舉:「修山主云:『具足凡夫法,凡夫不知;具足聖人J38nB413_p0415b03法,聖人不會。聖人若會,即是凡夫;凡夫若知,即是聖J38nB413_p0415b04人。』」師云:「大小修山主不合說道理,好與三十拄杖。何J38nB413_p0415b05故?免墮聖凡窠窟。」
J38nB413_p0415b06示眾。「徑僻荒苔跡,門開絕客過,日長慵嬾坐,欹側望J38nB413_p0415b07雲坡。草色綠如綺,湖光鏡展磨,年來頻選屐,自許老J38nB413_p0415b08岩阿。」
J38nB413_p0415b09示眾。舉:「明招上堂,眾纔集,招云:『風頭稍硬,不是汝等J38nB413_p0415b10安身立命處,且歸煖室商量。』便歸方丈。大眾隨至立J38nB413_p0415b11定,招又云:『纔到煖室,便見瞌睡。』以拄杖一時趁下。」師J38nB413_p0415b12云:「明招機用超越當時,且非中下之根而可測擬也。J38nB413_p0415b13山僧今日不消如之若何,眾中莫有全身擔荷者麼?」J38nB413_p0415b14眾無對。師乃拽拄杖下座,大眾一齊走散。
J38nB413_p0415b15示眾。「禪不須參,道不須學,如羊無角,如虎帶角。三千J38nB413_p0415b16里外逢人,切不得道山僧粗識好惡。」良久,云:「錯。」
J38nB413_p0415b17示眾。舉:「昔有一老宿住菴,於門上書心字、於窗上書J38nB413_p0415b18心字、於壁上書心字。法眼云:『門上但書門字、窗上但J38nB413_p0415b19書窗字、壁上但書壁字。』玄覺云:『門上不要書門字、窗J38nB413_p0415b20上不要書窗字、壁上不要書壁字。何故?字義炳然。』」師J38nB413_p0415b21云:「二大老恁麼判斷,甚生奇特?要會他古人意,三生J38nB413_p0415b22六十劫。」
J38nB413_p0415b23師一日垂語云:「月到窗櫺,因甚又被竹風篩去?」眾下J38nB413_p0415b24語不愜,師代云:「其理自彰。」
J38nB413_p0415b25示眾。舉:「南泉問僧:『昨夜好大風。』僧云:『昨夜好大風。』泉J38nB413_p0415b26云:『吹倒門前一株松。』僧云:『吹倒門前一株松。』又問一J38nB413_p0415b27僧:『昨夜好大風。』僧云:『什麼風?』泉云:『吹倒門前一株松。』J38nB413_p0415b28僧云:『什麼松?』泉云:『一得一失。』」師云:「南泉置此一問也J38nB413_p0415b29甚奇怪,二僧如是酬對,且道誰得誰失?若有能較得J38nB413_p0415b30失明白底,出來與山僧相見;其或未然,今日風色稍J38nB413_p0415c01硬,待歸煖室商量。」拽拄杖便起。
J38nB413_p0415c02示眾。「孤峰頂上一塊石,先天開鑿到如今,不知風雨J38nB413_p0415c03莓苔爛,誰是佛兮誰是心?」
J38nB413_p0415c04中秋,示眾。師云:「去年中秋月,今年中秋月,今年與去J38nB413_p0415c05年,要識這時節。不見寒山子云:『吾心似秋月。』又有者J38nB413_p0415c06云:『吾心匪秋月。』縱然比類得來,也是虛空釘橛。且如J38nB413_p0415c07雲窩家風別無所長,一味冷坐峰頭,笑對清光皎潔,J38nB413_p0415c08今晚何妨塞責?舉似諸人,貴須於此安貼。」以手畫▆J38nB413_p0415c09圓相托起,云:「大眾會麼?玉出崑崗,劍號巨闕。」
J38nB413_p0415c10示眾。舉:「高峰大師云:『門外有一人用盡機謀,要入入J38nB413_p0415c11不得;門裏有一人做盡伎倆,要出出不得。出不得、入J38nB413_p0415c12不得即且置,且道門外人與門裏人相見時如何?愁J38nB413_p0415c13人莫向愁人說,說向愁人愁殺人。』」師云:「高峰和尚用J38nB413_p0415c14盡自己心,笑破衲僧口。雲窩又且不然,門外人要求J38nB413_p0415c15入者從他入、門裏人要求出者從他出,何必用許多J38nB413_p0415c16計較作麼?只要諸人識得此間鍋子大小、杓柄短長J38nB413_p0415c17便了。何故?從來無位次,不用強安排。」
J38nB413_p0415c18示眾。舉:「盤山云:『似地擎山,不知山之孤峻;如石含玉,J38nB413_p0415c19不知玉之無瑕。若能如是,是真出家。』育王杲云:『若能J38nB413_p0415c20如是,捏目生化。』」師云:「若能如是,碧落青霄。」
J38nB413_p0415c21示眾。「秋風颯颯,秋雨濛濛,參差紺殿,翠竹煙籠。伶俐J38nB413_p0415c22漢這裏見得,便知有此境界,直饒腳踏實地底,還他J38nB413_p0415c23驀劄相逢。只恁麼,佛法、世法打成一片,致使老胡之J38nB413_p0415c24後滅跡掃蹤,山僧不敢望其別開戶牖,貴要諸人徹J38nB413_p0415c25骨徹髓,扶起綱宗。大眾!既然如是,且作麼生是綱宗?」J38nB413_p0415c26遂以拄杖卓一卓,云:「擊碎金圈栗棘篷。」

J38nB413_p0416c12順治丁酉解夏,眾執事入方丈,請師說行實。師云:「大J38nB413_p0416c13凡衲僧行腳操方未出門,諸人先具有此副骨性,何J38nB413_p0416c14待要山僧鼓弄唇舌作麼?縱然余所說乃是我分內J38nB413_p0416c15底事,於汝輩了沒交涉。此番無柰眾頭首誠懇,且不J38nB413_p0416c16免漏逗一上。余新安人,俗姓鮑,父諱秦交,字上孚,係J38nB413_p0416c17府庠。母胡氏,好修善,夢家有扁曰積善堂三字,乃妊,J38nB413_p0416c18生余於天啟癸亥十月二十四日也。自幼少啖葷食,J38nB413_p0416c19隨父寺院中讀書,早晚得瞻佛相,便生踴躍。年甫十J38nB413_p0416c20八,舉業未遂志,父母嚴責,每感嘆曰:『大丈夫不能力J38nB413_p0416c21求寸進,弗若一日入空門,討個清閑自在耶!』至十九J38nB413_p0416c22歲,辭親扺金陵,途遇一僧,激發修行,指往宜興,禮見J38nB413_p0416c23明師染薙。二十,造京都清涼寺,受上顓下愚和尚具J38nB413_p0416c24足戒。後歷講席,凡看經畢,常夜敷坐。聞友人談及宗J38nB413_p0416c25門向上一著,又閱《禪關策進》,則知有做工夫事,頓棄J38nB413_p0416c26教理,遂發奮束裝,到鎮江竹林寺,參見林皋和尚,是J38nB413_p0416c27年甲申冬也。彼時尚應蘇州堯峰山請,余即挑包,徑J38nB413_p0416c28趨堯峰客司通白,引入方丈相見。人事畢,尚從容為J38nB413_p0416c29知客云:『堂中眾已滿,且安息,外面散住著。』余云:『某甲J38nB413_p0416c30特為生死遠來。』再四懇乞,尚許進堂,執事專權,不肯J38nB413_p0417a01通情。余異日告別,往嘉禾東塔寺求單,正值石雨和J38nB413_p0417a02尚結冬期也,懷香入室請益做工夫話,尚令參一口J38nB413_p0417a03氣不來。余歸堂,卻抖搜精神,把此話頭極力追究,亦J38nB413_p0417a04不見有速效,轉覺迷悶,欲待向人,但無開口處,於是J38nB413_p0417a05二七中東討西覓,只這一個疑團子打不破。至晚,鄰J38nB413_p0417a06單云:『少頃,和尚落堂。』余歡喜不已。俟開小靜,尚進堂J38nB413_p0417a07出問:『百千萬億法門,學人從那一門得入?』尚以腳點J38nB413_p0417a08地一下,云:『從這裏入。』余禮拜,尚乃打一竹篦,回到單J38nB413_p0417a09上,如劍戟刺心,反復再提此話,面前恍若一座銀山J38nB413_p0417a10鐵壁,進亦不得,退亦不得,於此通夜忘寐。將黎明,佛J38nB413_p0417a11殿發大鼓聲,胸中便脫然得個安樂境界。時本師介J38nB413_p0417a12和尚為居首眾,直趨座寮,呈我所見,尚更激勵做工J38nB413_p0417a13夫:『此亦暫時岐路耳,未為到家究竟也。』余禮謝而出,J38nB413_p0417a14心下憤憤然,殊弗快意。衲僧家若不明此大事,爭肯J38nB413_p0417a15瞥自知休?直下痛加鞭策。乙酉春解制,石和尚相招J38nB413_p0417a16入半肯社,余便辭退,往諸方游覽。後到金粟,參費隱J38nB413_p0417a17和尚,問:『衲僧行履所為何事?』尚驀頭打一棒,云:『業識J38nB413_p0417a18茫茫漢。』余云:『不是苦心人不知。』尚又打,云:『轉見不堪。』J38nB413_p0417a19茶次,知客擬白云:『晚間送某兄進禪堂安單。』尚默許,J38nB413_p0417a20余便禮拜出。候晚入堂,須猛著精彩,絕不與鄰單共J38nB413_p0417a21語。冬期,掛牌入室,余同一僧進方丈,其僧便請益,尚J38nB413_p0417a22劈胸與一推,跌階下,僧起再拜,尚又推之,余在傍忽J38nB413_p0417a23然有省,乃笑曰:『猶是階下漢。』尚回顧云:『如何接上階?』J38nB413_p0417a24余即近前把尚一推,便走出,尚云:『今日且放汝一頓。』J38nB413_p0417a25輒歸堂,成偈云:『冷面無情驀與推,卻於明鏡出當臺,J38nB413_p0417a26萍蹤雁影眼中屑,笑倒階前者阿獃。』再進方丈,作禮J38nB413_p0417a27云:『某甲適纔作得個偈子,特來呈似和尚。』遂展開,尚J38nB413_p0417a28覽云:『這弄精魂的。』余便喝,尚拈棒,余拂袖竟行。自此J38nB413_p0417a29機鋒相見,本無結舌杜詞也。一日,師又上堂,余出問:J38nB413_p0417a30『占德不出方丈,庄上吃油餈,意旨如何?』尚云:『被山僧J38nB413_p0417b01勘破。』余云:『爭柰學人何?』尚云:『你是漆桶。』余擬進語,尚J38nB413_p0417b02便喝,余亦喝,尚云:『救得來時遲了也。』余復喝,尚云:『更J38nB413_p0417b03要亂統那?』除夜,尚為眾云:『古人烹露地白牛與諸子J38nB413_p0417b04分歲,意作麼生?』命兩序大眾下語,俱未愜意,余隨後J38nB413_p0417b05出,作禮云:『謝師供養。』尚頷之。丙戌,解制,令遷單,要余J38nB413_p0417b06充化士,柰我素性枯淡,冬夏惟一衲衣而已,便立怯。J38nB413_p0417b07夏後,再參牧雲和尚,時師住常熟破山寺,接見甚喜,J38nB413_p0417b08送入高僧殿。不滿數月,尚回古南,余偕友人直往雙J38nB413_p0417b09徑之遊歲邸,復轉瓶寶會龍寺度節。丁亥年,有僧自J38nB413_p0417b10報恩來,聞玉林和尚行腳初回,掩關大雄山,余負笈J38nB413_p0417b11往參,尚一見便契,命充知客。值結冬,余問:『豎拂拈椎J38nB413_p0417b12即不問,開爐設[革*(乏-之+友)]事如何?』尚云:『看取眉毛。』余云:『與麼J38nB413_p0417b13則把斷要津,不通凡聖。』尚便打。余云:『千聖不知何處J38nB413_p0417b14去,倚天長劍逼人寒。』尚不荅。期畢,又令入堂領眾,余J38nB413_p0417b15時精力少健,即退位閑居一載。戊子秋,抵武林,徙倚J38nB413_p0417b16湖上,獨愛山水之佳,恨不及與騷人遊客之所倣傚,J38nB413_p0417b17徒自快快。留連旬日,意欲渡江往越之天台隨喜,卻J38nB413_p0417b18遇箬菴和尚出山在拈花舍,余躬自趨謁,尚問:『汝一J38nB413_p0417b19向在那裡東奔西走?』余云:『某甲適纔離大雄。』尚云:『腳J38nB413_p0417b20跟下好與三十拄杖。』余便喝。尚云:『胡喝,亂喝。』余云:『和J38nB413_p0417b21尚猶作這般見解。』尚以香信盆推地震聲,云:『亂統師J38nB413_p0417b22僧。』余云:『學人罪過。』尚便休去。次日,著執事陪余入南J38nB413_p0417b23▆。尚後回山,送閑住寮。冬期,又命掌記室,將經二載。J38nB413_p0417b24庚寅歲,有同參者扳余過宛陵住靜,誓作休山之計,J38nB413_p0417b25安敢強做出頭人也?不果。院事少就,復走龍池、屯村、J38nB413_p0417b26棲真諸處,盡有機緣,但不能細述始末。後仍返嘉禾J38nB413_p0417b27金明寺,見我本師,蒙尚留住,乃敘及法門▆事,以補J38nB413_p0417b28知客之執,屢勘辯,深愜師意。辛卯春解制,余年二十J38nB413_p0417b29九也,尚一日命同既白兄入室,豎起拂子云:『若道得,J38nB413_p0417b30即將去。』余云:『不辭向和尚道。』尚云:『未在,更道。』余便接J38nB413_p0417c01過拂子,尚云:『莫亂做。』余以拂子擊桌便出,尚遂對眾J38nB413_p0417c02付囑,復耑侍僧送衣拂歸寮。山僧抱忝愚鈍,毅然有J38nB413_p0417c03愧色,乃稽首禮謝。壬辰歲,乞假回新安省親,因途間J38nB413_p0417c04受暑,大病忽作,兩月不起,有同行僧勸請醫士服藥,J38nB413_p0417c05後即愈。是年秋到郡,被親友羈留,卜隱于黃山之梅J38nB413_p0417c06溪。自念斷橋一脈,歷代傳持,至我本師而又奚冀於J38nB413_p0417c07余輩?往返數載,晦跡韜光,不肯以法門狼藉。乙未冬,J38nB413_p0417c08承星源眾檀護以黃連寺之招,開堂復二載,惟真實J38nB413_p0417c09煆煉衲子,非炫耀于一時也。丙申,撾鼓退院,於海陽J38nB413_p0417c10半峰靜室閉戶不出者又幾寒暑,設有方來禪侶克J38nB413_p0417c11辦個事,勿厭岑寂,直登峰造謁,如泛泛之流聞風而J38nB413_p0417c12止矣。今晚被現前大眾抑逼,余普說行腳,故自不揣J38nB413_p0417c13己,引出這般勾當。雖然,好似羅公照鏡,汝等諸人寧J38nB413_p0417c14不免于笑乎?」眾復作禮,師躬身便起云:「不煩久立,珍J38nB413_p0417c15重。」
