耳城潤光法師命門人素如輩特過圓通設茶請師J34nB311_p0644a07開示師曰:「你從法席來乃問我法耶?」素云:「不知。」師曰J34nB311_p0644a08不知解恁麼來?」素云:「乞大慈指示。」師曰:「聞潤法師說J34nB311_p0644a09法華經至何品也?」素云:「〈壽量〉。」師曰:「壽量作麼生?」素云J34nB311_p0644a10正是不知。」師召云:「大眾汝等遮立地底如何是壽量J34nB311_p0644a11?」鹿門法師云:「乞大師方便使初學始有入處。」師曰J34nB311_p0644a12參學人不得入處正以聽人說楞嚴便作大佛頂句J34nB311_p0644a13法華便作壽量句看聞宗師說機緣便作公案J34nB311_p0644a14句看更不向自本分上看何者是我大佛頂究竟J34nB311_p0644a15堅固何者是我眉間光本來壽量何者是我自J34nB311_p0644a16分一段公案只管在冊子上意言分別計較有無是J34nB311_p0644a17不知特地蹉過了也又安得有入處不見昔者疏J34nB311_p0644a18山問溈山:『承問和尚垂語云:「有句無句如藤倚樹。」J34nB311_p0644a19使樹倒藤枯句歸何處?』值溈山方泥壁放下泥盤J34nB311_p0644a20呵大笑即歸方丈疏山忿然曰:『某三千里外賣布單J34nB311_p0644a21特來參問師何乃笑謔我也?』溈山命侍者:『與遮上座J34nB311_p0644a22布單錢令去異日遇獨眼龍為他點破在。』果疏山見J34nB311_p0644a23隻眼明招重舉此問招曰:『可使溈山笑轉新。』疏山大J34nB311_p0644a24:『元來溈山笑裏有刀。』大眾汝等似古人聞一句J34nB311_p0644a25言語便能自發疑情也無若是箇人見角知牛見煙J34nB311_p0644a26知火又那肯逐語生解且道疏山知得溈山語意也J34nB311_p0644a27若知則不於此句更生枝節且不以溈山為謔J34nB311_p0644a28不知卻聞此語又能發疑而舉一明三且於明招言J34nB311_p0644a29下悟溈山笑裏有刀汝等參學直須一言一事消歸J34nB311_p0644a30本分果有下落不為三藏十二部破故紙埋沒J34nB311_p0644b01亦不為一千七百則爛葛藤紏殺故古人參到極處J34nB311_p0644b02如上百尺竿頭始有撒手進步斷送此命根也其或J34nB311_p0644b03不能𢬵捨言語文字知識情解之命根太煞頡滑J34nB311_p0644b04得撲地折曝地碎哉我如此饒舌不過欲打艸驚蛇J34nB311_p0644b05眾中還有知痛痒者麼?」素云:「如何是蛇?」師曰:「你遮J34nB311_p0644b06死蛇不打。」眾禮拜而退

師與李太宰伯仲及毛克舉周更生馮西星諸公會J34nB311_p0644b09毛公問朝聞夕可之旨師舉如意示之曰:「諸公聞J34nB311_p0644b10?」眾無語師曰:「且聽一喻主人請客侍人取玉盃來J34nB311_p0644b11失手撲破眾客失色主人怡然不驚客歎其高致J34nB311_p0644b12人曰:『此假玉盃也。』客復訝曰:『怪道不驚元來已先勘J34nB311_p0644b13破了也更請真玉盃看。』主人笑曰:『方撲破時真玉盃J34nB311_p0644b14儼然呈獻矣乃諸君自不具眼耳。』」於是客皆感悟J34nB311_p0644b15毛公大喜曰:「靈源論參禪須死偷心今夕可撲破矣。」J34nB311_p0644b16太宰曰:「此一鉗鎚非同輕小不惟親見玅道亦使親J34nB311_p0644b17見孔子真正面目也。」

李公楫云:「昨與家伯快談何事?」師曰:「太宰云:『昔一名J34nB311_p0644b20公嘗言:「燈錄有禪師言解鄙淺者亦入之或有宰官J34nB311_p0644b21一時聰辨撞彩者亦入之此未必盡悟或為後人引J34nB311_p0644b22進乎?」』予笑曰:『勘破此公也吾初會令侄公楫嘗舉二J34nB311_p0644b23祖安心話問予云:「如我等亦覓心了不可得使大師J34nB311_p0644b24:『為汝安心竟。』我等向不徹去。」予曰:「要人之偷心自J34nB311_p0644b25死耳使二祖不真到此而達磨亦決不如此也如孔J34nB311_p0644b26子呼參曾子曰:『。』子出看他師資之啄啐同時亦何J34nB311_p0644b27嘗弗思議哉更有一喻如君有十友偶托一誠信者J34nB311_p0644b28行事及返命彼語尚未完君即領之又托彼九友素J34nB311_p0644b29行詭異者彼雖語意條貫君心徹底不肯且再四徵J34nB311_p0644b30如公家斷案果有被告與干證俱是欺詐又不容J34nB311_p0644c01不窮奸辨偽以折伏其心也按彼名公正是自視聰J34nB311_p0644c02而無實證乃疑古人亦猶殊不知勘驗人之J34nB311_p0644c03真見豈在言語之工拙哉昔歸宗聞一僧自叫大悟J34nB311_p0644c04謂尼姑元是女人做宗即許之若非真見得此僧J34nB311_p0644c05問一答十問十答百如香嚴之見溈山亦安肯輕放J34nB311_p0644c06過哉果真有悟解之人明眼者遠遠望見即賞識矣J34nB311_p0644c07又何待彼開口乎令伯爽然謂人決不可不遇真手J34nB311_p0644c08眼知識也。」楫感激曰:「此大師撾塗毒鼓斷千古命根J34nB311_p0644c09特先施我以法乳也敢自欺哉?」楫又問:「今人有專以J34nB311_p0644c10機鋒棒喝為向上宗旨者何如?」師曰:「是即是恐人多J34nB311_p0644c11錯認了機鋒棒喝也一居士聞法師談金剛忍辱波J34nB311_p0644c12羅蜜喜極歸家見小兒失跌啼哭士曰:『此處正好說J34nB311_p0644c13能所體空之無生忍也。』士愈說兒愈哭其妻窺見丈J34nB311_p0644c14夫不救兒且口喃喃地乃拈一火柴頭走出將地打J34nB311_p0644c15一下喝曰:『你如何跌我兒子聻?』兒見母打地便不哭J34nB311_p0644c16而起矣士忽踊叫曰:『今乃悟我老婆善談般若之無J34nB311_p0644c17生忍也。』」師復曰:「知此意乎使此士他日學老婆拈火J34nB311_p0644c18柴頭打地又何異昔日之學法師談般若乎?」楫大喜J34nB311_p0644c19顧席中白臬惺公曰:「此大師真機鋒棒喝也真能殺J34nB311_p0644c20能活能縱能奪大權方便也真足破近世學老婆拈J34nB311_p0644c21火柴頭以為機鋒棒喝不作機鋒棒喝用者也幸記J34nB311_p0644c22以示同參。」』」

師在黃檗與陳司寇以直二公圍爐司寇公問:「向於J34nB311_p0644c25此中用心不得明白何也?」師曰:「此正公不肯直下便J34nB311_p0644c26要將心會道理故耳。」公急曰:「正以覿面隔一J34nB311_p0644c27重便不得見。」師曰:「世出世法皆有單刀直入之捷J34nB311_p0644c28著意言分別便惑亂也若欲與人解惑發智又須有J34nB311_p0644c29善巧方便耳如齊桓公與管仲出郊見鬼致疾及聞J34nB311_p0644c30皇子告敖言:『有見如此鬼者當霸。』桓公輾然一笑而J34nB311_p0645a01此非分別成疾復以意言釋疑乎予前日正以此J34nB311_p0645a02意作詩寄梅中丞公或管仲佯為不見而使之乎?」J34nB311_p0645a03甚奇之因舉揚大年八角磨盤空裏走頌師曰:「公雖J34nB311_p0645a04是恁麼舉且道八角磨盤如何向空裏走聻?」公沉思J34nB311_p0645a05師曰:「向道要見直下便見不可向磨盤上安眼睛鼻J34nB311_p0645a06孔也。」公爽然喜極次日公曰:「昨深感大師示不肯直J34nB311_p0645a07下便見一語乃知往往皆是自不肯承當耳。」師曰:「J34nB311_p0645a08當箇事亦不容易前者與李太宰談及彼令即當時J34nB311_p0645a09因唐宜之與言八識不肯信及臨終曰:『惜不能修書J34nB311_p0645a10與唐宜之言我今知有八識也。』予曰:『學貴乎自信J34nB311_p0645a11正是知之為知之也若今人聞禪便謂知禪聞道便J34nB311_p0645a12謂知道此輩終身自障不得真見禪見道也若令即J34nB311_p0645a13者不知既不輕信若肯信則必有真知矣又安得此J34nB311_p0645a14人與之入此道哉?』」陳公曰:「此正所謂當觀時節因緣J34nB311_p0645a15。」師曰:「古人謂時雨之化蓋亦因其種性成熟耳J34nB311_p0645a16詩云:『欲覺聞晨鐘令人發深省。』若非欲覺雖每日聞J34nB311_p0645a17熟能發深省哉即此欲覺二字乃千聖傳心之妙J34nB311_p0645a18如孔子呼曾子唯是欲覺之候也諸門人仍不覺耳J34nB311_p0645a19能開悟者以中心之生意未發如桃仁杏仁之J34nB311_p0645a20在核中皆未有浸入之功薰發之力其仁中之枝葉J34nB311_p0645a21花果皆藏隱未得發現也故吾佛稱為悟無生法忍J34nB311_p0645a22忍者仁也藏也即如來藏心也以能藏萬法於一心J34nB311_p0645a23又能藏一心於萬法也即無生無不生之種智也J34nB311_p0645a24至誠無息天命之性也即太極含二五之純粹精也J34nB311_p0645a25即歸根復命窅窅冥冥其中有精也不然貞下安能J34nB311_p0645a26復起元哉故參必須開示悟入此歸元之旨不然J34nB311_p0645a27照愈出而愈失宗矣。」公大喜曰:「欲覺與法忍數語J34nB311_p0645a28發千古未發。」師曰:「此亦因機指點耳種杏仁核正有J34nB311_p0645a29事在。」

:「雲門云:『乾坤之內宇宙之間中有一寶秘在形山J34nB311_p0645b09拈山門向佛殿裏拈佛殿向燈籠上。』雪竇云:『乾坤之J34nB311_p0645b10宇宙之間中有一寶掛在壁上達磨大師覷不見J34nB311_p0645b11覷著即瞎卻眼。』」師云:「遮二老漢撥亂乾坤即不無J34nB311_p0645b12是安邦定國尚未夢見在秖如道盛今承寶方師翁J34nB311_p0645b13之力應得寶方受用又作麼生?」復云:「乾坤之內宇宙J34nB311_p0645b14之間中有一寶一體同觀龍蛇混雜凡聖交參J34nB311_p0645b15限珍奇無用處前三三與後三三。」

師舉:「長沙岑禪師有一秀才問曰:『弟子見千佛名經》,J34nB311_p0645b18秪見其名不知居何國土亦化度否?』沙云:『秀才曾到J34nB311_p0645b19黃鶴樓否?』才云:『。』沙云:『崔顥題詩後亦有人繼作也J34nB311_p0645b20?』才云:『。』沙云:『秀才閒時題取一篇好。』」復召大眾云J34nB311_p0645b21會遮秀才問麼青蛇口裏燄會遮長沙答麼黃蜂尾J34nB311_p0645b22上針雖然如是若有人如此問我壽昌但答他云:『J34nB311_p0645b23日山中大眾禮千佛辛勤楚中廣上人聞予身外無J34nB311_p0645b24餘之說估自長衣設茶供眾山僧不著便待無人J34nB311_p0645b25時來與你將那一隊黧奴白牯一一按過。』且道壽昌J34nB311_p0645b26與長沙之答有同別也無若也會得仙人有待乘黃J34nB311_p0645b27若也不會海客無心戀白鷗。」

邑宰廖公因談青原山有掛角寺靈跡甚奇師乃云J34nB311_p0646a11善於名山掛角者莫若蘇東坡輩也如匡山東坡亭J34nB311_p0646a12雙徑東坡池西湖東坡堤之類何處非彼掛角哉J34nB311_p0646a13於佛印住金山寺昔人以蘇公與佛印法戰不勝J34nB311_p0646a14玉帶鎮佛印山門蘇公亦自為詩云:『鈍根猶墮箭鋒J34nB311_p0646a15。』殊不知蘇公慣用陷虎之計以一腰玉帶占了佛J34nB311_p0646a16印千古金山遮則公案孰能辨其勝負所以吾宗獨J34nB311_p0646a17貴有轉身活路耳。」廖公云:「請大師剖判。」師顧黃公及J34nB311_p0646a18諸孝廉云:「諸公各下一語看。」黃公云:「弟子前日作金J34nB311_p0646a19山語錄序有佛印以衲衣授記東坡東坡以玉帶授J34nB311_p0646a20記佛印甚矣東坡之善作賊也正協大師微旨。」師云J34nB311_p0646a21遮兩箇白拈賊須是山僧捉敗始得雖然中不容針J34nB311_p0646a22且置旁通車馬處捉得衣帶賊否?」諸公愕然異之J34nB311_p0646a23:「天地造化機權古今功名事業皆天下公物從上J34nB311_p0646a24佛祖出世為人宗旨及世間聖賢英傑或明取其名J34nB311_p0646a25或暗取其實以為自本分受用此非大白拈賊而J34nB311_p0646a26?」黃公云:「今日遮裏著賊底也不少。」師云:「且道無位J34nB311_p0646a27真人是甚麼乾屎橛?」群公相顧師云:「羚羊又掛角去J34nB311_p0646a28。」眾大笑

朱長文長源齊寅生陳伯幾茶次文公問:「人人皆知J34nB311_p0646b01參禪一事直探根宗如何學人終日參不透徹何也?」J34nB311_p0646b02師云:「人人皆知是直探根宗爭奈探根宗之心不能J34nB311_p0646b03直捷深入耳此不但參禪即如子事父臣事君亦未J34nB311_p0646b04見有能直捷深入者也孔子嘗曰臣之事君當以大J34nB311_p0646b05若瑣屑數末之事則反辱君命與辱身也又安J34nB311_p0646b06能陳善閉邪而格君心之非哉如大舜之事頑父嚚J34nB311_p0646b07友愛傲弟可謂真能事親而不見親有不是處J34nB311_p0646b08自怨慕號泣所以終至底豫文王天下有其二而服J34nB311_p0646b09事殷但曰天王聖明而小心翼翼雖至羑里而無不J34nB311_p0646b10於是感悟昏紂而釋其囚故夫子以大孝稱舜J34nB311_p0646b11純至稱文皆歎美其能直心事親事君也故曰:『事父J34nB311_p0646b12母幾諫見志不從又敬不違勞而不怨。』此一則唯舜J34nB311_p0646b13與文足以當事之一字世儒不達聖意以須幾諫J34nB311_p0646b14安知事之至極自然底豫感悟何況孝子忠臣之心J34nB311_p0646b15一往直前秪知有君親可事不知有廩之可完井之J34nB311_p0646b16可浚羑里之囚昏亂之惡也臣子纔見得君父有不J34nB311_p0646b17是處便有弒父弒君之漸矣今之參禪學道秪愛用J34nB311_p0646b18知見情識去公案機鋒上領略卜度如何得深入門J34nB311_p0646b19庭堂奧而見本生之君父哉此旨唯吾曹洞祖師深J34nB311_p0646b20悟直指之宗故立如子事父如臣事君之旨以開示J34nB311_p0646b21世間出世間之後學必如是念念歸根心心得旨J34nB311_p0646b22纔隨炤則失宗矣你不見倒剎竿青州衫廬陵米價J34nB311_p0646b23日面月面柏樹子麻三斤諸公案皆是直截根源J34nB311_p0646b24容擬議而親見祖父於一吼俱盡乎?」諸公大喜曰:「J34nB311_p0646b25不特為少林一脈直通元氣即舜孔乃於今日J34nB311_p0646b26始得見其真面孔也幸侍者記之使天下後世悟斯J34nB311_p0646b27旨者皆得致君親樂太平於大師言下矣!」

師云:「山僧逢人莫不箇箇說解脫法亦竟不得解脫J34nB311_p0646b30何也良以全身坐在現成文字道理知見窠裏J34nB311_p0646c01轉反側終是不得蹋翻窠臼如何得此身心與世法J34nB311_p0646c02出世法相解脫哉正如人欲運甕須身在甕外始運J34nB311_p0646c03得他動若將身坐在甕裏不惟甕運不動而甕被我J34nB311_p0646c04蹋定我又被甕關住元非是甕累我乃是我累甕也J34nB311_p0646c05今之治天下者纔有天下便為天下所累惟不有天J34nB311_p0646c06則天下不為我累而我且運天下於掌上矣故唐J34nB311_p0646c07堯見得有天下便要以天下讓許由許由見得有天J34nB311_p0646c08便恐天下所累故寧死而辭是二者皆以有天下J34nB311_p0646c09故有授受之累也及至於藐姑射山中見四子之無J34nB311_p0646c10所知始乃窅然而喪天下乃不期逍遙而自逍遙矣J34nB311_p0646c11故曰列子御風猶有所待若彼至人則又烏乎待哉J34nB311_p0646c12正以聖人無故無所待矣今之參禪欲了生死J34nB311_p0646c13生死為何物乃若是黏皮綴骨繫識纏心之不可解J34nB311_p0646c14殊不知自心取自心非幻成幻法不取則無非幻J34nB311_p0646c15而幻化又何從立乎諸公了知此意則我與公皆J34nB311_p0646c16是戲臺上人誰僧誰俗誰真誰假誰是誰非之有哉?」J34nB311_p0646c17諸公大喜:「此千古之大惑不消片語而解脫之也J34nB311_p0646c18婆心徹困曷勝傾倒?」

鄧自親居士禮請曰:「弟子西人客南京聞故土賊J34nB311_p0647a13有老母不知存亡雖亦久信佛法不知如何始了J34nB311_p0647a14生死而度父母乃痛哭流涕乞和尚大慈開示。」師曰J34nB311_p0647a15居士還知遮痛心人底出處麼若知得此人出處J34nB311_p0647a16父母故土雖歷歲月程途亦易到易見若不知此人J34nB311_p0647a17則現前不歷歲月程途本來面目卻是難見且了不J34nB311_p0647a18得遮生死若了不得遮生死你即得見母親大哭一J34nB311_p0647a19以盡百年孝養亦須歸盡安得超他出生死哉J34nB311_p0647a20如目連尊者上得天堂入得地獄必須先有一箇了J34nB311_p0647a21生死法始度得他母若無此法終是千生萬劫徒自J34nB311_p0647a22纏縛于生死恩愛又何濟于大孝哉你諸居士急宜J34nB311_p0647a23直下透徹始得不見龐居士云:『十石油麻樹J34nB311_p0647a24上攤。』龐婆云:『百艸頭上祖師意。』靈炤女云:『J34nB311_p0647a25不難也不易饑時喫飯困時睡。』你看他雖是塵勞中J34nB311_p0647a26卻能父子團圞說無生法且道他說難說易是箇J34nB311_p0647a27甚麼若以百艸頭邊饑餐困睡即是無生則大地人J34nB311_p0647a28皆是無生也又何難易之有又何他父子如此提唱J34nB311_p0647a29雖是極平嘗話卻是極淆訛事到遮裏也須著隻眼J34nB311_p0647a30始得又不見孔子云:『天下國家可均也爵祿可辭也J34nB311_p0647b01白刃可蹈也中庸不可能也。』我見天下如此林林總J34nB311_p0647b02差別雜亂亦不易均縻一身之爵祿為一家之欲J34nB311_p0647b03亦不易辭拼性命之生死白刃亦不易蹈而聖人反J34nB311_p0647b04不為難豈非中庸是天下古今人底安身立命之極J34nB311_p0647b05平嘗極奇特之事乎先聖語言最簡最易如揭日月J34nB311_p0647b06於中天但人不肯痛心參究所以不得真實受用J34nB311_p0647b07致天下卒不可均爵祿卒不可辭白刃卒不可蹈J34nB311_p0647b08悟入此中庸平嘗之道如饑餐困睡相似則人事無J34nB311_p0647b09甚奇特天下有何不可均勢利無甚奇特爵祿有何J34nB311_p0647b10不可辭生死無甚奇特白刃有何不可蹈只此極平J34nB311_p0647b11嘗之道人不肯參透所以費卻許多奇特功能終是J34nB311_p0647b12不可能也若不親切透過此事如何龐家父子炤耀J34nB311_p0647b13傳燈拋家業于湘水了生死於笑談豈今人所謂平J34nB311_p0647b14嘗中庸之所能哉正以天下古今之人輕易視此平J34nB311_p0647b15反使此中庸之道人鮮能也諸居士欲了世法J34nB311_p0647b16世法可不參究自本來面目遮一著子又何難均J34nB311_p0647b17天下辭爵祿蹈白刃以了此平嘗生死性命哉諸公J34nB311_p0647b18還知坐立儼然當機不昧底與父母未生前底本自J34nB311_p0647b19平常原無一毫差別麼?」復說偈云:「少小離鄉老大回J34nB311_p0647b20阿爺相遇復相猜偶因傍客呼名姓頓使從前眼豁J34nB311_p0647b21珍重。」

我等林下道人當此除夜享清淨無為之福是皆受J34nB311_p0647b24朝廷之恩澤誰知有宴安鴆毒之害乎方天下遭此J34nB311_p0647b25大變民窮財盡慘殺不寧當宁焦勞文武忘命千瘡J34nB311_p0647b26萬孔莫為救療安得頓還元氣使朝野甦息乎即前J34nB311_p0647b27代名山古剎往往為饑荒賊亂兵火所焚即諸祖亦J34nB311_p0647b28常避難如巖頭隱於渡子石霜藏於瀏陽慈明浮山J34nB311_p0647b29輩結伴參汾陽葉縣直可謂赤身挨白刃撒手跳懸J34nB311_p0647b30崖也若不如是捨死忘生安能破此生死牢關得出J34nB311_p0647c01身路今參學人自無忘軀為法之心只管去觀望J34nB311_p0647c02知識看他有意於我無意於我世間豈有如此拼生J34nB311_p0647c03死而求玅道者乎使慈明浮山輩纔有一念觀望之J34nB311_p0647c04則早被他熱呵亂罵潑水撒灰斷送去三千里外J34nB311_p0647c05安得頓悟臨濟之道迥出常情往在靈谷常與凌官J34nB311_p0647c06倪樸菴諸公言做行狀者紀述將來自覺淡泊不J34nB311_p0647c07好看百計搜求出數段要大聖大賢說不出底忠臣J34nB311_p0647c08孝子行不出底入在裏面纔成一篇文字及乎自J34nB311_p0647c09為人生怕說一句難話死怕行一步難事半毫毛也J34nB311_p0647c10不敢惹著既行時要如此好境好緣如何做行狀卻J34nB311_p0647c11又要如此險難怪異豈非背馳其言行而欲自欺欺J34nB311_p0647c12人乎昔吳遠庵與予曰:『我南京宗風久寂幸余集老J34nB311_p0647c13請博山和尚於天界開堂引發多少人知有此本分J34nB311_p0647c14爭奈護法神不加被他不知是他夙業否今為山J34nB311_p0647c15東作巡撫事收在刑部獄裏卻不退息人之信心乎?』J34nB311_p0647c16予笑曰:『大好信心公且道佛法有靈驗乎?』吳大驚曰J34nB311_p0647c17莫是他錯因果乎?』予曰:『是你錯因果也。』吳益驚予曰J34nB311_p0647c18誰教他要參博山和尚及諸方善知識禪?』吳曰:『請大J34nB311_p0647c19師破我驚疑。』予曰:『此正蘇子瞻所謂佛祖恐我難化J34nB311_p0647c20故特遣於萬里之外折伏之也公又安知非護法善J34nB311_p0647c21神感集老為法之心欲以道法速成其參了生死禪J34nB311_p0647c22之行狀乎集老既能參博山諸老禪且試向刑部監J34nB311_p0647c23此刑部禪與諸知識禪是同是別若是同則參得J34nB311_p0647c24刑部禪亦可參閻羅大王禪也刑部禪是操兵演武J34nB311_p0647c25閻王禪是輪刀上陣禪刑部可以寬假閻王不順J34nB311_p0647c26人情又況閻羅王與牛頭阿旁多是不通文字道理J34nB311_p0647c27佛法禪道者諸大善知識尚可以著語呈解拈古頌J34nB311_p0647c28棒喝機鋒相見與他閻羅王獄卒相見一些也用J34nB311_p0647c29不著只要你參他刀山劍樹禪鑊湯爐炭禪參得他J34nB311_p0647c30地獄極苦禪庶幾可以參他佛祖向上禪也。』」諸公大J34nB311_p0648a01笑絕倒曰:「此千古棒喝使世出世人皆當透骨透髓J34nB311_p0648a02。」「汝等諸仁者到遮裏也須當真參了生死禪始得J34nB311_p0648a03不則臘月三十夜易過涅槃堂裏生死結交禪恰是J34nB311_p0648a04參不透也汝等可不痛心驚覺此世出世法當此大J34nB311_p0648a05必如何始得透脫乎果欲參透此禪則當不惜皮J34nB311_p0648a06欲樂便從今日做一箇能透萬死千難之人免使J34nB311_p0648a07他日悔不曾做得真行狀以致自陷於欺心之大罪J34nB311_p0648a08。」

中峰大師云:『參禪無秘訣秪要生死切。』須知遮一切J34nB311_p0648a21字便是斷生死命根剖如來藏性底金剛劍從上佛J34nB311_p0648a22祖百千方便秪是拈提遮一切字此外更無別法也J34nB311_p0648a23人能痛切為發明生死性命則一切勇猛精進自不J34nB311_p0648a24待人教詔所謂如輪刀上陣一人與萬人敵更不顧J34nB311_p0648a25生死危亡所以能殺敵而自全性命稍一不切則生J34nB311_p0648a26死性命皆落人手矣可不切乎今人不有真為生死J34nB311_p0648a27徒云我疑情發不起殊不知此心若切即是話頭J34nB311_p0648a28即是疑情即是金剛劍即是大闡提也到遮裏更有J34nB311_p0648a29何生死不破何性命不透哉我嘗與儒者云:『夫子稱J34nB311_p0648a30詩可以興觀群怨此怨之一字即吾禪門疑情也J34nB311_p0648b01謂臣不得君子不得父乃至不得于朋友百姓皆此J34nB311_p0648b02自怨之疑情孟子善于形容大舜謂如怨如慕如泣J34nB311_p0648b03如訴此正是自怨自艾自起疑情曰我何以不得于J34nB311_p0648b04父母兄弟哉非有怨恨于頑父嚚母與傲弟也纔有J34nB311_p0648b05怨及父母兄弟則此自怨自艾之心終無以自悟J34nB311_p0648b06終不能感格其父母使底豫也。』參禪人不返求諸J34nB311_p0648b07我如何不明我自性命如何卻被妄想之所流轉J34nB311_p0648b08畢竟我如何作得主妄想生死又從何而有只如此J34nB311_p0648b09痛切參去更無第二人更無第二念久久伎窮倆盡J34nB311_p0648b10一旦頓斷命根便是大事了明也今人參究而不悟J34nB311_p0648b11皆是為生死心不切與不能久遠痛憤耳非古人J34nB311_p0648b12言句話頭不能令人開悟也本艸綱目中上藥不J34nB311_p0648b13可枚舉獨難者是久服二字若能久服則無藥不靈J34nB311_p0648b14今人一日暴之十日寒之正是無痛切久遠之心J34nB311_p0648b15又安能得大徹大悟如古人哉?」

開遠因舉其師叔祖宴林與影竹之戒行精嚴因財J34nB311_p0648b18立義有如寶訓之風杖人曰:「季札掛劍於徐墓能斷J34nB311_p0648b19人千古偷心亦足以義利風世如宴林與影竹如此J34nB311_p0648b20則於生死交際亦可穎脫矣開遠當此奇窮不濫J34nB311_p0648b21松閣之能力行堅忍則其他事之不敢自欺亦可知J34nB311_p0648b22世人嘗以貧賤不能苦守而為非義又或因求慕J34nB311_p0648b23名利富貴恩愛迷倒喪心予謂人自負名利富貴J34nB311_p0648b24愛耳如堯皆富有四海貴為天子彼則有德J34nB311_p0648b25有位名震萬年利澤永世此則失德失位名穢帝王J34nB311_p0648b26利敗今古此富貴名利何負於人即如孔汲汲遑J34nB311_p0648b27不得君相而行其志然皆不敢自濫於貧賤乃能J34nB311_p0648b28為千聖百王之師此亦豈貧賤之能負人哉總之J34nB311_p0648b29不負自心則不負大義亦不負富貴貧賤與名利J34nB311_p0648b30愛也又嘗見父母子孫欲保其名利壽命皆以恩愛J34nB311_p0648c01之故自能立心行義求福於天乃至割人難割為人J34nB311_p0648c02難為以開悟性命天道乃成不世之大業者此非以J34nB311_p0648c03恩愛度恩愛而出恩愛於生死性命乎故杖人生平J34nB311_p0648c04秪教人悟此靈心為主能使此心靈悟則盡大千法J34nB311_p0648c05若聖若凡皆是全機大用何更有心外之法為剩J34nB311_p0648c06為留礙哉諸人但能勇憤求明此心不負此心J34nB311_p0648c07千聖不傳之玅不待求人開示而自悟入矣。」
