J40nB492_p0485a02萬峰和尚蚤歲於虎跑室中得其肉,壯歲於伏龍室J40nB492_p0485a03中得其髓,自是通身慶快,徹骨清涼,無一絲毫為障J40nB492_p0485a04為礙。爾後張鋪席於蔚嶠,開飯店於嵩山,不假文字,J40nB492_p0485a05不資語嘿,單單以一色本分草料接人,而四方來者J40nB492_p0485a06如歸,不舍晝夜。室中得指明心者,莫知其數;嗣法立J40nB492_p0485a07宗者,列布山川。化緣既終,其徒齡山壽上人捧此帙J40nB492_p0485a08過苕溪之上,見示於稿室,稿室即合爪加額,焚香三J40nB492_p0485a09復,既而掩卷而謂齡山曰:「老師已和盤托出,盡在此J40nB492_p0485a10書矣!正是活人之丹,殺人之藥,故其胸中流出一一J40nB492_p0485a11高玅,使天目正宗、伏龍的派,二十年後話當大行。」或J40nB492_p0485a12問余:「何以知之?」曰:「我知言。」

語是謗,嘿是誑,語嘿向上有事在。今觀萬峰蔚禪師J40nB492_p0485a15舉古驗今語錄,所謂言言見諦、句句朝宗,一一皆是J40nB492_p0485a16胸襟流出,浚天目正派之深,得伏龍心髓之奧,如金J40nB492_p0485a17翅擘海,直取龍吞,燃龍猛膏,變連山石,斯之謂歟!然J40nB492_p0485a18語嘿向上事,非頂𩕳具眼者莫能辯之。其嗣法弟子J40nB492_p0485a19茲欲刊行於世,遠來請題於上,余見其誠,故書之。
J40nB492_p0485a20阿育王山弘辯崇裕,時年八十。
從上宗師應機接物,直是斬釘截銕,初不以言句示J40nB492_p0485a22人。至如雲門大師說法,如雲如雨,猶不許記錄其語,J40nB492_p0485a23懼屬流布也。今萬峰蔚公禪師出天目之門,入伏龍J40nB492_p0485a24之室,一出世住山,即菴居中吳垂三十年,履真踐實,J40nB492_p0485a25吳人多服其化,而登其門者可謂駢肩縈跡,但隨機J40nB492_p0485a26開導,未嘗以言句形於紙筆。其徒華首座私錄其語,J40nB492_p0485a27間以示予,請識其後。予聞此老末後一段光明尤為J40nB492_p0485a28卓異,宜乎吳人家繪其像而敬事之,所錄之語特其J40nB492_p0485a29土苴緒餘耳。雖然,道本無言,因言顯道,讀是錄者忽J40nB492_p0485a30然築著磕著,洞見此老心肝五臟未必無其人也,故J40nB492_p0485b01為書之。

姑蘇信士萬應鵬,捐資重刻J40nB492_p0485b05萬峰禪師語錄一冊,計字一萬七千六百,板J40nB492_p0485b06刻增書三項,共銀六兩二錢。所冀見聞披讀,J40nB492_p0485b07咸悟祖心,獲福無窮,傳燈不盡。

J40nB492_p0485c02 J40nB492_p0485c03 J40nB492_p0485c04住蘭溪州嵩山開堂。上堂,拈香祝聖云:「此香爇向爐J40nB492_p0485c05中,端為祝延 今上聖壽。恭願三千大千世界盡屬J40nB492_p0485c06華封,百億萬億須彌咸歸正化。」次拈香云:「奉為伏龍J40nB492_p0485c07山聖壽禪寺佛慧圓鑒千巖和尚,用酬法乳之恩。」
J40nB492_p0485c08就座。「千聖難明不了因,代代相傳古到今,今日嵩山J40nB492_p0485c09重舉似,鐵樹花開別是春。向無影樹下打眠,宏開飯J40nB492_p0485c10店;於虛空背上經行,大闡宗乘。塵塵剎剎全彰,物物J40nB492_p0485c11頭頭合轍,擊碎魔王窠臼,斷送衲子命根,不作奇特J40nB492_p0485c12商量,不作玄妙解會,直得淨名杜口共贊昇平,巖頭J40nB492_p0485c13密啟咸宣至化。正恁麼時,開堂祝聖報恩句子作麼J40nB492_p0485c14生道?」良久,云:「一片定光暉宇宙,直教萬國奉君恩。」
J40nB492_p0485c15上堂。舒兩手,云:「大開方便門,便從這裏入。」復握雙拳,J40nB492_p0485c16云:「閉卻牢關,說家裏話。且道不開不閉一句又作麼J40nB492_p0485c17生道?」良久,斂僧伽黎,下座。
J40nB492_p0485c18施主請說大法,陞座,良久,云:「三世諸佛如是說,歷代J40nB492_p0485c19祖師如是說,天下老和尚如是說,嵩山道者亦如是J40nB492_p0485c20說。若有不如是說者,與他三十棒;若有如是說者,亦J40nB492_p0485c21與他三十棒。何故?」卓拄杖一下,云:「嵩山門下,令不虛J40nB492_p0485c22行。」下座。
上堂:「現成公案不肯承當,卻向嵩山追求何J40nB492_p0485c23物?若言求佛,汝即是佛;若言求道,道無可道;若言求J40nB492_p0485c24法,法本無法。切莫妄想。」時有僧問:「佛法即不問,如何J40nB492_p0485c25是嵩山境?」師云:「四面好山擎日月,一湖秋水浸青天。」J40nB492_p0485c26問:「如何是境中人?」師云:「三仙描不就,終不與君傳。」問:J40nB492_p0485c27「如何是目前事?」師云:「眉毛眼上橫。」問:「莫不是他安身J40nB492_p0485c28處麼?」師云:「錯認定盤星。」進云:「爭奈觀山觀水何?」師云:J40nB492_p0485c29「觀外如幻,觀內亦然。去此二途,汝作麼生觀?」僧無對。J40nB492_p0485c30師乃云:「只如老子道:『內觀其心,心無其心;外觀其形,J40nB492_p0486a01形無其形;遠觀其物,物無其物。』三者既悟,唯見於空,J40nB492_p0486a02亦是吾宗金鎖玄關之難,何況觀山觀水、觀佛觀法?J40nB492_p0486a03所以道:『不是目前法,亦非目前事。』且道是個甚麼?」喝J40nB492_p0486a04一喝,卓拄杖,下座。
J40nB492_p0486a05示眾。舉:「古德云:『溪聲便是廣長舌,山色無非淨法身。』J40nB492_p0486a06堪笑古人猶在聲色裏作活計,要見清淨法身太遠J40nB492_p0486a07在。既不在聲色裏,畢竟在甚麼處?會麼?」良久,云:「須知J40nB492_p0486a08更在青山外。」
J40nB492_p0486a09設齋,示眾。舉:「古德云:『不見三頭六臂,卻能拈匙放箸。』J40nB492_p0486a10也大奇,也大奇。」拈拄杖,指左邊一指,云:「這裏是山,那J40nB492_p0486a11裏是水?」又指右邊一指,云:「遮裏是水,那裏是山?」舉拄J40nB492_p0486a12杖,云:「這箇是拄杖子,主在甚麼處?向這裏一一見得J40nB492_p0486a13明白,許你有口堪喫飯。然雖恁麼,亦未見他三頭六J40nB492_p0486a14臂在。且道那裏見得?」拈拄杖,一齊打散。
J40nB492_p0486a15正月初一,示眾。云:「月頭是初一,光明漸漸出;月尾是J40nB492_p0486a16三十,光明何處覓?假饒老釋迦,也道拈不出。拈得出,J40nB492_p0486a17萬事畢。大眾!若有人道得,出來道看;如無,嵩山與你J40nB492_p0486a18諸人露箇消息。」舒兩手,云:「我見燈明佛,本光瑞如此。」J40nB492_p0486a19下座。
J40nB492_p0486a20一日,有二僧來參,師問云:「那裏來?」僧云:「隴西來。」師云:J40nB492_p0486a21「我聞隴西有鸚鵡,是否?」進云:「是。」師云:「還會吟詩作賦J40nB492_p0486a22麼?」進云:「會。」師云:「吟甚麼詩?試道看。」僧無對,師打一棒,J40nB492_p0486a23云:「妄語漢!汝不從隴西來。」師云:「第二員道看。」僧作舞J40nB492_p0486a24勢,師云:「是即是,爭奈上大人丘乙己?」
J40nB492_p0486a25示眾。以拂子打圓相云:「天地未分,日月未明,這一著子,觀時J40nB492_p0486a26無物,聽時無聲,無色無聲,如天常清,如空常明,聖凡J40nB492_p0486a27俱泯,生滅全沉,動靜不生,非假非真,了無邊表,亦無J40nB492_p0486a28昇沉,空空寂寂,絕見絕聞。你還識麼?若向這裏得箇J40nB492_p0486a29消息,便可與三世諸佛同一眼見、同一耳聞,歷代祖J40nB492_p0486a30師一口所宣、一音演暢,放光動地,亙古亙今,開迷情J40nB492_p0486b01之眼目,洗執垢之塵心,轉萬物為自己,轉自己為萬J40nB492_p0486b02物,融通法界,變化山川,說凡說聖,說有說空,說權說J40nB492_p0486b03實,俱無障礙,亦不滯於空寂,亦不沉於有無,亦不墮J40nB492_p0486b04於凡聖,亦不落於生死,放行把住,機輪互換,出沒捲J40nB492_p0486b05舒,縱橫妙用,法法全彰,建立也在我,掃蕩也在我,我J40nB492_p0486b06為法王,於法自在。若也悟處不真、見處不實,執凡執J40nB492_p0486b07聖,說是說非,沉空守寂,盡是生死垢心輪迴根本。如J40nB492_p0486b08今多見叢林中有一等兄弟家,終日說禪自不識禪,J40nB492_p0486b09終日說法自不識法,終日說般若自不識般若。諸仁J40nB492_p0486b10者!還要識般若麼?莫是德山棒、臨濟喝麼?莫是香嚴J40nB492_p0486b11上樹、雪峰輥毬麼?莫是雲門胡餅、趙州吃茶麼?所以J40nB492_p0486b12道:是法非思量分別之所能解。大丈夫漢不可匆匆J40nB492_p0486b13草草,迷頭認影,埋沒自己靈光,辜負先聖垂慈之妙。J40nB492_p0486b14佛祖無傳而傳之法、無得而得之心,此心此法,頭頭J40nB492_p0486b15合轍,處處逢源。何以將心捉心、以佛覓佛?若能如是,J40nB492_p0486b16轉無交涉。如今要得徹去,嵩山與汝露箇消息。」豎拂子云:J40nB492_p0486b17「是佛是法,是心是道,是照是用,是主是賓。」作圓相云:「非佛J40nB492_p0486b18非法,非心非道,非照非用,非主非賓。馬大師云:『即心J40nB492_p0486b19即佛,不是心,不是佛,不是物。』正為此也。向這裏見得J40nB492_p0486b20明白,方是吾家種草,臨濟兒孫。只如法眼和尚問修J40nB492_p0486b21山主:『毫釐有差,天地懸隔。師兄作麼生會?』修云:『毫釐J40nB492_p0486b22有差,天地懸隔。』法眼云:『恁麼會又爭得?』修云:『某甲只J40nB492_p0486b23與麼,和尚又作麼生?』法眼云:『毫釐有差,天地懸隔。』修J40nB492_p0486b24於此有省。保寧勇禪師頌云:『石城親切問同參,不語J40nB492_p0486b25東西便指南。明暗兩條來往路,依稀屈曲在煙嵐。』二J40nB492_p0486b26大老:一人面南看北斗,一人步行騎水牛。嵩山即不J40nB492_p0486b27然。」以拂子打圓相云:「寥寥自在本無說,寂寂空空豈礙留?蕩J40nB492_p0486b28蕩悠悠無可立,心心不易絕玄鉤。」
J40nB492_p0486b29因僧論禪教,示眾。云:「如來妙道難解難知,靈山會上J40nB492_p0486b30五千退席,大覺世尊愍物垂慈,開演三車,誘引諸子J40nB492_p0486c01出離火宅,然後但以大乘而為度脫。若總不說,不為J40nB492_p0486c02眾生普施妙道;若別有說,反令眾生隨於諸有。經云:J40nB492_p0486c03『一切諸世尊,皆說一乘道,我有方便力,開示三乘法。』J40nB492_p0486c04世尊如是剖露,太煞老婆心切。後學初機不知聖意,J40nB492_p0486c05往往沉於語言之下,不能體會玄微,徒觀標月之指,J40nB492_p0486c06不睹當天之月,遂以語言文字為礙,醍醐上味翻成J40nB492_p0486c07毒藥。豈不聞世尊云:『為了此事,更無餘事。』為你學人J40nB492_p0486c08不明自己是佛,向外馳求。先聖以慈愍故,遞相出興,J40nB492_p0486c09遞相傳授,開方便門,示真實相,或威或慈、或擒或縱,J40nB492_p0486c10或隱或顯、或棒或喝,頭頭顯露,處處全彰,即要當人J40nB492_p0486c11直下領會玄旨,不得已而為之,卻將蜜棗子換汝苦J40nB492_p0486c12葫蘆。水潦和尚見馬大師,欲伸問間,被馬祖一腳踏J40nB492_p0486c13翻,起來呵呵大笑,百千法門,無量妙義,即向一毫頭J40nB492_p0486c14上識得根源,了了分明。若也住心觀靜、舉心外照,攝J40nB492_p0486c15心內澄、凝心入道,總是無風匝匝之波。我此一門,只J40nB492_p0486c16貴利根上智領之於二言之下。若也世智辯聰,縱然J40nB492_p0486c17通得一大藏教,乃至九經十七史、諸子百家,只嬴得J40nB492_p0486c18口頭滑,於本分事遠之遠矣。士大夫有留心意於此J40nB492_p0486c19者,多謂佛道懸曠,久受勤苦,乃可得成。又謂千生學J40nB492_p0486c20威儀,萬劫學細行,如何博地凡夫便得入手?此皆自J40nB492_p0486c21推一座須彌山,一障障了。豈不見黃山谷道人問道J40nB492_p0486c22晦堂,因論吾無隱乎爾,山谷於是瞥地。張無垢居士J40nB492_p0486c23初見靈隱明、善權清,久之不契,及登妙喜之門,因論J40nB492_p0486c24但知格物,不知物格,頓悟厥旨。世出世間得人憎,無J40nB492_p0486c25出遮些子,如水行地中,無往而非水。若謂水專在,是J40nB492_p0486c26此澄清大海惟認一浮漚目為全潮。若果得此事,入J40nB492_p0486c27手只消一滴,便可興波作浪,全卷全舒、全起全滅,盡J40nB492_p0486c28浮幢王剎海皆具吾一滴中矣。倘或不然,只守澄澄J40nB492_p0486c29湛湛,未免死水裏淹殺。大丈夫漢向威音王以前空J40nB492_p0486c30劫那畔擔負得行,何處有許多周由者也?豈不見臨J40nB492_p0487a01濟在黃檗會下問祖師西來的的大意,三度問話,三J40nB492_p0487a02遭痛棒,不領玄旨。後至大愚和尚處,被他一拶,豁然J40nB492_p0487a03大悟,便道:『黃檗元來佛法也無多子。』大愚云:『你適問J40nB492_p0487a04有過無過,便道黃檗佛法無多子,畢竟有多少?速道!』J40nB492_p0487a05濟於大愚脅下𡎺三拳,到這裏一點子也謾他不得。J40nB492_p0487a06自後開堂演法,顯大機、發大用,開鑿人天眼目、發揚J40nB492_p0487a07佛祖宗猷,機鋒如石火電光相似,實難近傍。凡見學J40nB492_p0487a08人入門,便喝示眾云:『有時一喝是金剛王寶劍,有時J40nB492_p0487a09一喝是踞地獅子,有時一喝是探竿影草,有時一喝J40nB492_p0487a10不作一喝用。』敢問諸人道:阿那一喝是金剛王寶劍?J40nB492_p0487a11阿那一喝是踞地獅子?阿那一喝是探竿影草?阿那J40nB492_p0487a12一喝不作一喝用?向這裏緇素得出,許爾具一隻眼,J40nB492_p0487a13看破臨濟祖師。會麼?會麼?」喝一喝,云:「是金剛王寶劍?J40nB492_p0487a14是踞地獅子?是探竿影草?是一喝不作一喝用?」又喝J40nB492_p0487a15一喝,云:「是照?是用?是照用同時?是照用不同時?」又喝J40nB492_p0487a16一喝,云:「是賓?是主?是賓主同時?是賓主不同時?遮裏J40nB492_p0487a17會得,亦未全提。如臨濟會下,兩堂首座齊下一喝,且J40nB492_p0487a18道:那喝是主?那喝是賓?遮裏見得徹去,便見臨濟老J40nB492_p0487a19人立地處,便見汾陽、白雲、慈明、楊岐祖師立地處,便J40nB492_p0487a20見自己立地處,便見大地眾生立地處,懷藏智鑑,鑑J40nB492_p0487a21在機先,顯發大用,用超格外,以至東家杓柄長、西家J40nB492_p0487a22杓柄短,無不知之。如今叢林參學高士至死不明此J40nB492_p0487a23事,病在何為?堪嗟學人不了,妄自執法為病,以病攻J40nB492_p0487a24病,致使佛性愈求愈遠、轉急轉遲。伶俐漢回光返照,J40nB492_p0487a25直下知非,藥病兩忘,眼睛突出,爍破山河大地、耀開J40nB492_p0487a26百億須彌,全卷全舒、全殺全活,捉敗德山門戶、看破J40nB492_p0487a27臨濟家風。是則是,要見德山即易、要見嵩山即難。何J40nB492_p0487a28故?須知死句中有活句、活句中有死句、死句中有死J40nB492_p0487a29句、活句中有活句。」驀拈拄杖,舉示大眾,云:「會麼?善財到此無行J40nB492_p0487a30路,有在渠儂彈指間。」
J40nB492_p0487b01示眾。「從上佛祖剖露單傳,開權顯實,說玄說妙,契理J40nB492_p0487b02契機,只要學人識取自心,累他先聖曲垂方便,誘進J40nB492_p0487b03斯門。所以道:『摩尼珠,人不識,如來藏裏親收得,六般J40nB492_p0487b04神用空不空,一顆圓光色非色。』此珠人人具足,箇箇J40nB492_p0487b05圓成,非特如來藏中,三世諸佛、歷代祖師何嘗少欠?J40nB492_p0487b06若佛若祖,是聖是凡,莫不皆有此珠。汝等諸人六根J40nB492_p0487b07門頭放光動地,因甚不見?即為情生智隔,想念體殊,J40nB492_p0487b08無端雜毒種在八識田中,醍醐上味翻成惡水,埋沒J40nB492_p0487b09自己靈光,決定無由得見。若是決烈丈夫,直下一刀J40nB492_p0487b10兩段,不被邪師惑亂,不受塵緣繫縛,具大眼目,具大J40nB492_p0487b11手段,直入斯門,得獲大寶。豈不見大梅常禪師參馬J40nB492_p0487b12祖,問云:『如何是佛?』祖云:『即心是佛。』便向大梅一住二J40nB492_p0487b13十年。馬祖令僧去探其是否,僧到便問云:『和尚見馬J40nB492_p0487b14大師,得何道理便住此山?』常曰:『向我道「即心即佛」,我J40nB492_p0487b15便向這裏住。』僧云:『馬祖佛法近日又別。』常曰:『作麼生J40nB492_p0487b16別?』僧云:『又道「非心非佛」。』常曰:『這老漢惑亂天下人未J40nB492_p0487b17有了日在,任他非心非佛,我但即心即佛。』看他一得J40nB492_p0487b18永得,了無退失,遮箇便是參禪問道底英靈衲子,一J40nB492_p0487b19見便了,更不狐疑。如百丈問長慶云:『如何是佛?』慶云:J40nB492_p0487b20『騎牛覓牛。』僧問西明和尚云:『如何是佛?』尚云:『即汝便J40nB492_p0487b21是。』便是自家珍寶,更莫他求。如斯會得,看破馬大師J40nB492_p0487b22心肝五臟。苟或不然,更聽一偈:一對眉毛眼上橫,莫J40nB492_p0487b23問渠儂短與長,八字打開全剖露,分明遍界雨花香。」
J40nB492_p0487b24示眾。「禪無可參,道無可證。無證無參,是為禪定。定無J40nB492_p0487b25所定,所定非定。欲得真定,但莫諍兢。諍兢既忘,不存J40nB492_p0487b26心境。道本無修,從茲而證。如斯證者,方知無三界可J40nB492_p0487b27出,無涅槃可證,無禪定可修,無輪迴可脫,無染無淨,J40nB492_p0487b28不生不滅。古云:『不斷煩惱,而證菩提。』煩惱即是菩提,J40nB492_p0487b29菩提即是煩惱。離菩提即無煩惱,離煩惱即無菩提。J40nB492_p0487b30菩提煩惱出乎心,更無別法。明只明自本心,見即見J40nB492_p0487c01自本性。見又離見,離見之見,即見本心。本心非心,非J40nB492_p0487c02心之心,即見真心。此名為正悟,此名為精進,亦名為J40nB492_p0487c03解脫,亦名般若、真如佛性、大覺金仙,總是假名。如是J40nB492_p0487c04悟者,方知佛與眾生,性原平等,無二無別。只因迷妄,J40nB492_p0487c05不能修禪定智慧,淪墜生死苦海,無有出期。大覺世J40nB492_p0487c06尊方便誘進眾生,假說六度萬行,布施、持戒、忍辱、精J40nB492_p0487c07進、禪定、智慧。若無禪定智慧,布施持戒者何也?即貪J40nB492_p0487c08嗔癡煩惱賊,劫奪功德法財。若無貪嗔癡,更無言說,J40nB492_p0487c09五千餘卷如葉止啼相似。達磨大師,自西天十萬八J40nB492_p0487c10千里道途,來至此土,教外別傳,不立文字,直指人心,J40nB492_p0487c11見性成佛。自後神光立雪斷臂,覓法安心。從此問荅J40nB492_p0487c12為禪,頓契明心為道。嵩山到這裏,恁麼也三十棒,不J40nB492_p0487c13恁麼也三十棒,恁麼不恁麼,亦與他三十棒。」卓拄杖一下云:J40nB492_p0487c14「夜來風捲殘雲去,一輪明月照天心。」

J40nB492_p0488a09中夏,示眾。云:「達磨的的西來,直指人心,見性成佛。且J40nB492_p0488a10道性作麼生?一喝於此,直下死團百雜碎,便見青青J40nB492_p0488a11翠竹顯真如,柳綠花紅明皎潔,風生虎嘯石龍吟,燕J40nB492_p0488a12語鶯啼為汝決。衲僧家,活潑潑,滿懷撒出夜明珠,獻J40nB492_p0488a13寶波斯難辨別,放倒和衣打覺眠,一任天崩與地裂。J40nB492_p0488a14其或未然,參。」
J40nB492_p0488a15解制,上堂。云:「一葉落,天下秋;一塵起,大地收。解開布J40nB492_p0488a16袋口,衲僧得自由。腳頭腳底風雲起,撒土揚沙輥入J40nB492_p0488a17流。逼塞虛空無影像,啼鶯元在柳梢頭。畢竟作麼生J40nB492_p0488a18取用?」喝。
本淨居士入山求語示眾
J40nB492_p0488a20達磨至金陵,惟傳一心之法,面對梁王,廓然無聖。只J40nB492_p0488a21此一句,已為諸人說破,聖量凡情悉皆掃蕩。自後德J40nB492_p0488a22山舉棒,又是節上生枝;臨濟下喝,亦乃無風起浪。禾J40nB492_p0488a23山打鼓、石鞏張弓、卓烏藤、拈麈尾,總不出維摩一默、J40nB492_p0488a24巖頭密啟,何況嵩山寫長篇、書短偈,喚作開示初機、J40nB492_p0488a25明今檢古?正是勝量未忘、餘心不息,違背少林直旨、J40nB492_p0488a26迦葉別傅。淨居士如令要得徹去,但即放教胸次中J40nB492_p0488a27空勞勞地、虛豁豁地,一絲不掛、一念不生,恰如皎月J40nB492_p0488a28含空,照而常寂、寂而常照,自然為道相應。某自從至J40nB492_p0488a29正十五年,禁筆不書頂相、不寫法語,單單一味杜田,J40nB492_p0488a30將古人一則無滋味話八字打開、兩手分付,方來學J40nB492_p0488b01者不肯直下承當,卻在那邊咬嚼、這邊穿鑿,返被這J40nB492_p0488b02些子銀墻鐵壁礙在面前,銷鎔不得。若是了事丈夫、J40nB492_p0488b03英靈傑士,於未舉以前一拳打透、一腳踢翻,誰敢向J40nB492_p0488b04你諸人潔淨地上撒土拋沙?居士特特入山禮拜、設J40nB492_p0488b05齋求語,以為入道津梁,爭是我宗無語句、無一法為J40nB492_p0488b06人?居士既信得及,便就父母未生已前看道:那箇是J40nB492_p0488b07我本來面目?二六時中,折旋俯仰、靜鬧閑忙,心心無J40nB492_p0488b08間、念念相續,即恁麼參去、即恁麼疑去。忽然泥團子J40nB492_p0488b09爆地一聲,撞破面前銀山鐵壁、踏著本地風光,土塊J40nB492_p0488b10泥團呵呵大笑,方知此事不在語言文字上。勉之,勉J40nB492_p0488b11之!

世尊陞座,文殊白槌云:「諦觀法王法,法王法如是。」世J40nB492_p0488c03尊下座。
師拈云:「世尊也是起模畫樣,文殊亦乃見J40nB492_p0488c04境生情,出來道箇諦觀法王法,法王法如是。且道J40nB492_p0488c05此語落在文殊處?落在世尊處?」
J40nB492_p0488c06「輕煙薄霧實難描,更有何人手段高?驚起暮天沙J40nB492_p0488c07上鴈,雙雙飛去入雲霄。」
師拈云:「迦葉喚阿難,暗號私通;倒卻門前剎竿,依J40nB492_p0488c11前不會。若問嵩山:『世尊傳金襴外,別傳何物?』只對J40nB492_p0488c12他道:『低聲,低聲。』且道古人是同?是別?」
J40nB492_p0488c13達磨西來,初見梁武帝,帝問云:「如何是聖諦第一義?」J40nB492_p0488c16磨云:「廓然無聖。」帝曰:「對朕者誰?」磨云:「不識。」帝不契,磨J40nB492_p0488c17遂折蘆渡江至魏。帝後舉問志公,公曰:「陛下識此人J40nB492_p0488c18否?」帝曰:「不識。」公曰:「此是觀音大士傳佛心印至此。」帝J40nB492_p0488c19遣使詔之,公曰:「莫說陛下詔,闔國人去,他亦不回。」
師拈云:「達磨大師當時何得道『廓然無聖』,卻被梁J40nB492_p0488c21武帝進後語?若問嵩山:『如何是第一義?』吾即叉手J40nB492_p0488c22默然,直教梁王進後語不得。且道畢竟如何是第J40nB492_p0488c23一義?」
J40nB492_p0488c24「廓然無法面梁王,無地容身暗渡江,直入少林巖J40nB492_p0488c25下坐,無端又賺老神光。」
二祖可大師初至少林參達磨,立雪斷臂,悲淚求法。J40nB492_p0488c27磨知是法器,乃曰:「諸佛最初求道,為法忘形。汝今斷J40nB492_p0488c28臂,求亦可在。」可曰:「諸佛法印可得聞乎?」磨云:「諸佛法J40nB492_p0488c29印不從人得。」可曰:「我心未寧,乞師安心。」磨曰:「將心來,J40nB492_p0488c30與汝安。」可曰:「覓心了不可得。」磨曰:「與汝安心竟。」可即J40nB492_p0489a01於此悟入。
師拈云:「九年面壁,暗地藏刀,立雪齊腰,J40nB492_p0489a02泥中有刺。神光踏發毒箭,射中泥牛,卻道覓心了J40nB492_p0489a03不可得,和贓捉敗。磨云:『吾與汝安心竟』,血濺梵天。J40nB492_p0489a04且道『覓心了不可得』如何話會?」
J40nB492_p0489a05「神光立雪夜深寒,達磨天明轉面看。斷臂安心流J40nB492_p0489a06血髓,至今塗汙未曾乾。」
達磨大師將返西天,謂門人曰:「時將至矣,合各言所J40nB492_p0489a08得。」時門人道副對曰:「如我所見,不即文字,不離文字,J40nB492_p0489a09而為道用。」師曰:「汝得吾皮。」尼總持曰:「我今所解,如慶J40nB492_p0489a10喜見阿閦佛國,一見更不再見。」師曰:「汝得吾肉。」道育J40nB492_p0489a11曰:「四大本空,五陰非有,而我見處,無一法可得。」師曰:J40nB492_p0489a12「汝得吾骨。」最後慧可禮拜合掌,依位而立。師曰:「汝得J40nB492_p0489a13吾髓。」
師拈云:「至道無難,惟嫌揀擇。達磨大師分皮J40nB492_p0489a14分髓,分別不少。且道有法付神光?無法付神光?若J40nB492_p0489a15道無,少林因甚麼付囑?若道有,且道付箇甚麼?」
J40nB492_p0489a16「勘破少林端的意,了無一法付神光。近前合掌施J40nB492_p0489a17三拜,好肉無端剜作瘡。」
文殊一日令善財採藥去,善財普觀大地無不是藥,J40nB492_p0489a19卻來報云:「無不是藥。」殊云:「是藥者採將來。」善財拈一J40nB492_p0489a20枝草度與文殊,殊提起示大眾云:「此藥草能殺人,亦J40nB492_p0489a21能活人。」
師拈云:「善財拈起藥草,家醜無端露盡;文J40nB492_p0489a22殊舉示諸方,文殊漏逗不少。嵩山不令而行,且道J40nB492_p0489a23有何玄玅?千年松下茯苓,得者自然不少。」
J40nB492_p0489a24「大地普觀都是藥,枝枝靈草總醫方。拈起口宣言J40nB492_p0489a25殺活,直至如今藥道行。」
五祖演禪師示眾云:「釋迦、彌勒猶是他奴,且道他是J40nB492_p0489a27阿誰?」
師拈云:「你還識他麼?不離這箇即這箇,我是J40nB492_p0489a28阿誰誰是我?不審!不審!蹉過!蹉過!」
J40nB492_p0489a29「三箇奴郎總一家,幾多卜度路頭差。虛空撲落呵J40nB492_p0489a30呵笑,識得他兮莫問他。」
唐憲宗迎佛,舍利現五色光,百僚皆賀,惟韓愈端立。J40nB492_p0489b02帝問曰:「百僚皆賀,卿為甚不賀?」愈曰:「臣曾看佛書來,J40nB492_p0489b03佛光非青黃赤白等光,此是龍神荷助之光。」帝曰:「如J40nB492_p0489b04何是佛光?」愈無對。古宿代云:「陛下問處便是。」
師拈J40nB492_p0489b05云:「帝迎佛舍利,現五色光,眉毛罅裏,耀古騰今。愈J40nB492_p0489b06曰:『佛光非青黃赤白黑』,見即成邪。可惜韓愈末後J40nB492_p0489b07無對。若問嵩山:『佛光作麼?』吾即噓兩噓。」
J40nB492_p0489b08「帝王法王,口放常光。一統乾坤,此土西方。」
宣州安國挺禪師因僧問五祖云:「真性緣起,其義云J40nB492_p0489b10何?」祖默然。時師侍次,乃謂:「大德!正興一念問時,是真J40nB492_p0489b11性緣起。」其僧於言下大悟。
師拈云:「這僧只知開口J40nB492_p0489b12問人,不知真性緣起,累他挺禪師道:『大德!正興一J40nB492_p0489b13念問時,是真性中緣起。』其僧打失鼻孔。雖然得箇J40nB492_p0489b14悟處,畢竟費力不少。且道未問已前,緣在何處?」
J40nB492_p0489b15「寥寥孤月掛寒空,大地山河寂照中。開口便能成J40nB492_p0489b16話墮,緣風吹入九霄宮。」
僧問雲門云:「如何是佛?」門云:「乾屎橛。」
師拈云:「雲門J40nB492_p0489b18大師不妨奇特,看他突然一句子,疑殺天下衲僧;J40nB492_p0489b19若道不疑,乾屎橛汝作麼生會?」
J40nB492_p0489b20「雲門公案親提起,便使通身冷汗流。香臭不知何J40nB492_p0489b21處去,虛空落地笑無休。」
趙州到一菴主處,問:「有麼?有麼?」主豎起拳頭,州云:「水J40nB492_p0489b23淺不是泊船處。」便行。又到一菴主處,問:「有麼?有麼?」主J40nB492_p0489b24亦豎起拳頭,州云:「能縱能奪,能殺能活。」便禮拜。
師J40nB492_p0489b25拈云:「趙州劈開古鏡,兩處分明;學人不識好惡,特J40nB492_p0489b26地驚疑。汝還知趙州兩次入門便問:『有麼?有麼?』被J40nB492_p0489b27這菴主豎箇拳頭,州便禮拜,豈不是趙州失卻一J40nB492_p0489b28隻眼?然雖如是,因甚肯一不肯一?」
J40nB492_p0489b29洞山到雲門,門問曰:「那裏來?」山云:「查渡。」門曰:「今夏在J40nB492_p0489c02甚麼處?」山曰:「湖南報慈。」門曰:「幾時離彼?」山云:「八月十J40nB492_p0489c03五日。」門云:「放汝三頓棒。」山明日卻上方丈,山云:「昨日J40nB492_p0489c04蒙和尚放某甲三頓棒,某不知過在甚麼處?」門曰:「飯J40nB492_p0489c05袋子!江西、湖南便恁麼去。」山於言下大悟。
師拈云:J40nB492_p0489c06「雲門把住放行,洞山不知失禮,來朝案款重供,當J40nB492_p0489c07下一槌擊碎。雖然得箇悟處,未免落在雲門坑裏。J40nB492_p0489c08當時震聲便喝,不致來朝結罪。」
J40nB492_p0489c09「雲門太殺老婆心,放過烏藤未是征。明日再來重J40nB492_p0489c10案過,果然頭角出群英。」
南泉因兩堂首座爭箇貓兒,泉乃提起貓云:「道得即J40nB492_p0489c12救取貓兒,道不得即斬卻。」眾皆無對,泉遂斬之。至晚,J40nB492_p0489c13趙州外歸,舉似趙州,州脫草鞋頂在頭上而出,泉云:J40nB492_p0489c14「子若在,救得貓兒。」
師拈云:「兩堂首座無定亂之機,J40nB492_p0489c15南泉乃有安邦之手,看他正令纔行,誰敢當場開J40nB492_p0489c16口?趙州救得貓兒,來遲未為好手。嵩山拂袖便行,J40nB492_p0489c17且道救也不救?」
J40nB492_p0489c18「白刃全提覿面揮,縱橫殺活逞玄機,命根落在渠J40nB492_p0489c19儂手,救得來遲總是非。」
首山和尚拈竹篦示眾云:「汝等諸人若喚作竹篦則J40nB492_p0489c21觸,不喚作竹篦則背,且道喚作什麼?」
師拈云:「首山J40nB492_p0489c22和尚兩頭截斷,中道不安,爭奈傍觀自有出身之J40nB492_p0489c23路。且道那裏是他出身之路?就手奪來,劈面便打,J40nB492_p0489c24且道喚作什麼?道!道!」
J40nB492_p0489c25「拈來劈面便相呈,獻寶還他龍子孫,捧出摩尼光J40nB492_p0489c26閃爍,人間天上最為尊。」
師拈云:「芭蕉雖J40nB492_p0489c29曰能縱能奪,能殺能活,要且不識拄杖子。若是這J40nB492_p0489c30條拄杖子,阿誰欠少?渡水登山,挑包過澗,倒用橫J40nB492_p0490a01拈,隨身受用。且道即今拄杖子在什麼處?」以手畫J40nB492_p0490a02一畫,云:「扶過斷橋水,伴歸明月村。」
J40nB492_p0490a03「與奪縱橫顯此機,拈來渾不涉思惟,揭開佛祖無J40nB492_p0490a04私眼,突出寒光滿太虛。」
溈山在百丈會充典座,百丈將選大溈主人,乃請首J40nB492_p0490a06座對眾下語,出格者可之。丈拈淨瓶置地上,問云:「不J40nB492_p0490a07得喚作淨瓶,汝喚作什麼?」座云:「不可喚作木突也。」丈J40nB492_p0490a08卻問山,山趯倒淨瓶而去。丈笑云:「第一座輸卻山子J40nB492_p0490a09了也。」丈遂命山住溈山。
師拈云:「百丈滿地刀鎗,溈J40nB492_p0490a10山通身是劍,一踢大地俱傾,直得雲開霧捲。海嶽J40nB492_p0490a11山川倒逆流,輥出摩尼光閃電,嵩山即作眼中花,J40nB492_p0490a12是非休向瓶邊辯。疾步歸來作者知,不將家醜傍J40nB492_p0490a13人見。」
J40nB492_p0490a14「乾坤一踢不留蹤,大智堂前暗號通。頭角崢嶸藏J40nB492_p0490a15不得,英靈千古顯宗風。」
子胡示眾云:「子胡有狗一隻,上取人頭,中取人腰,下J40nB492_p0490a17取人腳,往來者各自防避照管,喪身失命。」人至,喝云:J40nB492_p0490a18「看狗。」
師拈云:「入門一喝,頭正尾正,擬議思量,喪卻J40nB492_p0490a19性命。且作麼生入得他家門戶?」喝一喝:「阿耶!阿耶!」
J40nB492_p0490a20「一喝門前三轉身,儂家犬子沒疏親,朝昏倚臥門J40nB492_p0490a21限下,踏著迴頭咬殺人。」
瑞巖彥和尚每日自喚主人翁,復自應諾,乃云:「惺惺J40nB492_p0490a23著。諾!他時後日莫受人謾。諾!諾!」
師拈云:「瑞巖翁自J40nB492_p0490a24起自倒,主人翁阿誰不識?何須抱贓檢賊,聲裏尋J40nB492_p0490a25聲?如未喚之時,主在什麼處?」
J40nB492_p0490a26「惺惺喚省更惺惺,苦苦拘龍入鐵瓶。觸著自聲聲J40nB492_p0490a27裏諾,乾坤翻轉作滄溟。」
僧問趙州:「黑荳未生芽時如何?」州云:「好合醬。」
「趙州活計得能忙,黑荳渾淪入醬缸。今日有來篩J40nB492_p0490a30磨過,破砂盆裏響璫璫。」
龍潭吹燈。
「輕輕點出這些兒,耀古騰今爍太虛。兩眼明明無J40nB492_p0490b03別物,方知宮殿有龍居。」
百丈野狐。
「落昧都盧在半途,一掌分明脫野狐。夢眼豁開無J40nB492_p0490b06一物,不將罪福問孫吳。」
僧問雲門:「如何是教外別傳一句?」門云:「對眾將來。」僧J40nB492_p0490b08云:「直得恁麼時如何?」門云:「照從何立?」
師拈云:「雲門J40nB492_p0490b09大師一放一收,累及學人疏分不下。若問嵩山:『如J40nB492_p0490b10何是教外別傳一句?』當時振聲一喝,直教學人言J40nB492_p0490b11下悟去。」
J40nB492_p0490b12「教外無言號別傳,別傳心印訥無言,馬師一喝輕J40nB492_p0490b13拈出,不屬瞿曇話正偏。」

「我手何似佛手,無端播揚家醜。乾坤都在掌中,寒J40nB492_p0490b16光射翻牛斗。」

J40nB492_p0490b26「滿目青山看不休,白雲流水自悠悠。苑菴占斷蒼J40nB492_p0490b27崖底,一片丹青畫未周。」

J40nB492_p0493a22大凡參學做工夫者,先將平日所知所見、人我利名J40nB492_p0493a23盡情掃卻,然後將本參話頭頓在目前,行住坐臥時J40nB492_p0493a24也參、著衣喫飯時也參、屙屎送尿時也參、靜鬧閒忙J40nB492_p0493a25時也參、喜怒哀樂時也參,但於十二時中心心無間、J40nB492_p0493a26念念相續,不忘這箇話頭,須是大起疑情,大疑即大J40nB492_p0493a27悟、不疑即不悟,悟即悟自本心、明即明自本性。古人J40nB492_p0493a28云:「佛見、法見是二種鐵圍山,若有所見盡成其障。」所J40nB492_p0493a29以證道歌云:「心是根、法是塵,兩種猶如鏡上痕,痕垢J40nB492_p0493a30盡除光始現,心法雙忘性即真。」此事不論根性利鈍,J40nB492_p0493b01只要信得及、行得切,時節到來忽然觸著磕著,洞明J40nB492_p0493b02大事。祖師云:「我本求心不求佛,法界元來無一物。」佛J40nB492_p0493b03者,覺也。如何是覺?㘞!呵呵!方知此語實無妄也。且道J40nB492_p0493b04笑箇什麼?經云:「心生大歡喜,自知當作佛。」然雖如是,J40nB492_p0493b05須經大善知識爐煹煆煉,將來方可續佛慧命。謹參!謹參!J40nB492_p0493b06西來直指正單傳,自念參疑意廓然,今古上乘無別J40nB492_p0493b07法,盡皆心悟未生前。

慈光寂照圓明利濟萬峰大禪師塔銘
J40nB492_p0493c02 J40nB492_p0493c03一真法界,萬象無跡,妙有不有,真空不空,寂而常知,J40nB492_p0493c04無機不備,洞照十方,含包天地,故名大覺。吾佛證斯,J40nB492_p0493c05開方便門,示真實相;迦葉得斯,破顏微笑,越正法眼;J40nB492_p0493c06少林得此,面壁九年,與可安心。以三即一,以一即三,J40nB492_p0493c07四七二三,皆證此也。佛佛相印,祖祖相傳,衣缽可藏,J40nB492_p0493c08而法不容泯。曹溪付與南嶽,嶽授與馬祖,祖得百丈J40nB492_p0493c09海,海得黃檗運,運得臨濟玄,一花五葉,從此而分。臨J40nB492_p0493c10濟、溈仰、雲門、曹洞、法眼,濟得黃檗親傳。古云:臨濟正J40nB492_p0493c11宗一十八世至高峰妙公,公得雪巖欽公心印,居天J40nB492_p0493c12目山獅子巖,三十年不出死關,四方從者雷動海湧,J40nB492_p0493c13鮮有昇其門者。唯中峰本公深造閫奧,以得其訣,通J40nB492_p0493c14博無礙,以大辯才息三教之有、破六宗之執,王臣慕J40nB492_p0493c15仰,帝道施恩,入室弟子以數十計,惟千巖長公得其J40nB492_p0493c16法爾。巖得其傳,居義烏伏龍山,建大伽藍,學徒恒數J40nB492_p0493c17百人,攪動江山,名傾宇宙,齊、魯、燕、趙、秦、隴、閩、蜀,外而J40nB492_p0493c18日本、三韓、八番、羅甸、交趾、琉球,莫不奔走膜拜咨決,J40nB492_p0493c19惟萬峰禪師一人最為上首。師諱時蔚,號萬峰,溫州J40nB492_p0493c20樂清縣金氏子。母鄭氏,夜夢白氣亙天,因時懷妊,癸J40nB492_p0493c21卯八月二十九日午時生。母晚年生師雙子,師得第J40nB492_p0493c22二,母欲棄之,有姊金氏鞠以為子。年始七歲,父母俱J40nB492_p0493c23喪,忽一夜自睹白光滿室,賢愚莫能知之。十三歲,依J40nB492_p0493c24本縣演慶寺昇講主出家,十六歲為僧。因看《法華經.J40nB492_p0493c25安樂行品》云:「在於閑處修攝其心。」師有省,問講主:「此J40nB492_p0493c26語如何解說?」講曰:「世尊教你向山間林下結庵辦道。」J40nB492_p0493c27師聞其語,不勝欣喜,長時打坐,兀兀如癡。講曰:「汝非J40nB492_p0493c28吾宗人也。」令師遊方問道。年十九歲,更衣學禪,受具J40nB492_p0493c29足戒。遊於兩浙,至杭州,聞虎跑止巖和尚道譽,遂往J40nB492_p0493c30禮拜請益。巖曰:「因甚參禪人不悟真性,逐日區區打J40nB492_p0494a01鬨過了也?或三五成群,說長老如何?或三五成群,說J40nB492_p0494a02叢林好惡,一向不在己躬下做工夫。若要了悟上乘,J40nB492_p0494a03切要真參實學,從頭開發一遍。」就付三不是公案,巖J40nB492_p0494a04云:「便從這裏晝三夜三,心心無間,念念相續參去。」師J40nB492_p0494a05得開示,夜不寢席,日不涉緣,以經數月,未得其決。復J40nB492_p0494a06回明州,達蓬佛跡山,卓居辦道。正在疑網中,忽聞寺J40nB492_p0494a07中宗律師舉:「百丈問溈山云:『不可喚作淨瓶,喚作甚J40nB492_p0494a08麼?』山踢倒便行。」觸發疑情,不覺㘞地一聲,打破疑團,J40nB492_p0494a09直得虛空粉碎,大地平沉,非一切世間境界可比,不J40nB492_p0494a10是心,不是佛,不是物。咄!這鈍漢正好為渠三十棒,本J40nB492_p0494a11來見成,何有許多周折?頌曰:「如來臘八睹明星,也是J40nB492_p0494a12將蝦作眼睛,為有遠孫明悟處,日輪當午豁然明。」自J40nB492_p0494a13厥之後,徑往華頂峰無見和尚處求其決擇。見問:「萬J40nB492_p0494a14法歸一,一歸何所?」師上前問訊,叉手而立。又問:「如何J40nB492_p0494a15是道?」師云:「道無可道。」見云:「不道又不道箇甚麼?」師云:J40nB492_p0494a16「正要和尚疑著。」見云:「疑著即錯。」師云:「不疑亦錯。」見便J40nB492_p0494a17喝,師亦喝;見又喝,師亦喝,拂袖而行。見云:「侍者!侍者!J40nB492_p0494a18你雖悟得箇真性,年紀小在,未可印證你來。汝且居J40nB492_p0494a19山十年、二十年,我自令人來取你也。」其年二十六歲。J40nB492_p0494a20復回達蓬數載,自後竟無消息。師忽聞虎跑止巖和J40nB492_p0494a21尚圓寂久時,師遂往掃塔,偶宿靈隱。旦過,忽聞方殿J40nB492_p0494a22主舉千巖和尚一頌云:「斷崖和尚春圓寂,無見知翁J40nB492_p0494a23夏亦亡。畢竟有生還有死,千巖不久也無常。兩輪日J40nB492_p0494a24月如梭過,一合乾坤是磨忙。寄語諸方參學者,莫教J40nB492_p0494a25蹉過好時光。」一聞便知來意,一同本僧直造伏龍相J40nB492_p0494a26見。和尚纔入門,便問:「不是心,不是佛,不是物,是箇甚J40nB492_p0494a27麼?」師將坐具打一圓相,叉手而立,問荅不錄。偈呈:「南J40nB492_p0494a28泉不是惱人心,有要將心去捉心,不是我心不是佛,J40nB492_p0494a29性空寬廓有何尋?」師允諾,就命堂中第一座,辭不獲J40nB492_p0494a30已,黽勉秪領。忽一日,和尚陞堂,舉:「無風荷葉動,必定J40nB492_p0494b01有魚行。」師出眾,震聲一喝,拂袖而行。和尚示偈云:「鬱J40nB492_p0494b02鬱黃花滿目秋,白雲端坐碧峰頭,無賓主句輕拈出,J40nB492_p0494b03一喝千江水逆流。」師見偈,從此退職,遂往蘭溪州嵩J40nB492_p0494b04山結菴辦道。奈何十方雲水交參,四海高賢咨決,千J40nB492_p0494b05巖令人持書相招。「前日堂中大眾問老僧:首座如何J40nB492_p0494b06不來走遭?以見眾人之心歡喜。老僧門下得人,你如J40nB492_p0494b07何執坐於此?」以知斯意,師念愚魯,於宗無補,不敢妄J40nB492_p0494b08為擔荷大法。後於壬辰三月二十四日,和尚令源藏J40nB492_p0494b09主送法衣頂相來,巖云:「老僧袈裟一頂送與嵩山蔚J40nB492_p0494b10長老,略表叢林之道念,非諸方兜法子者也。呵呵!」師J40nB492_p0494b11得法之後,因浙東田少山多,不堪著眾,又遭三年亢J40nB492_p0494b12旱,繇是行錫蘇州,遊翫水山,乃見光福鄧蔚山,山水J40nB492_p0494b13相拱,龍虎盤旋,朱雀導而玄武從,陰陽合而子午正,J40nB492_p0494b14刱建道場,鋪舒厥志。三十餘年,道風遍布,如谷應聲,J40nB492_p0494b15往來雲水,靡間賢愚,駢集座下,致無虛日。於洪武辛J40nB492_p0494b16酉正月十五日告眾曰:「吾今時節至矣,大眾切莫遠J40nB492_p0494b17去。」門人駭然不散。後於當月付囑衣法與眾弟子,門J40nB492_p0494b18人行宗問曰:「和尚會中幾人得法弟子?」師示偈曰:「慈J40nB492_p0494b19悲無念,華開果熟。因地分明,慧寶致囑。清徹源源一J40nB492_p0494b20派流,千古萬古來相續。」付法已訖,此日京都西天師J40nB492_p0494b21父令慶侍者來報師,欲以奏聞,請師相見,一一應荅,J40nB492_p0494b22酬謝以畢。明日二十九日乙卯午時,付囑門人曰:「如J40nB492_p0494b23今已得,須向山間林下钁頭邊接引一箇半箇闡揚J40nB492_p0494b24吾道,報佛恩德,不可攀高接貴,輕慢下流,逐利追名,J40nB492_p0494b25迷真惑道。如今末法將沉,汝等切須仔細。」道了,結跏J40nB492_p0494b26趺坐,說偈曰:「七十九年,一味杜田,懸崖撒手,杲日當J40nB492_p0494b27天。」語畢而逝,春秋七十九,僧臘六十夏。停龕十三日,J40nB492_p0494b28肢體溫如,形容儼若。門人普鑑等取二月十三日巳J40nB492_p0494b29時,門人普鑑等奉全身瘞於院西涅槃山之永光塔,J40nB492_p0494b30四眾弟子哀聲動搖山水。師一生清苦,莫能言之,衲J40nB492_p0494c01衣蒲履,錙銖不蓄,數處開山,略無顧盻,學徒皆稱菩J40nB492_p0494c02薩,不呼名諱,受化僧俗莫知其數。室中舉古驗今,直J40nB492_p0494c03截根源,並無剩語,所有示眾語錄、送行法語不肯留J40nB492_p0494c04傳,但曰:「從上佛祖種種言說,句句朝宗,言言見諦,後J40nB492_p0494c05學初機略不聽從,況吾區區杜田話柄乎?」悉付火燼。J40nB492_p0494c06門人記錄,略成文卷,仍行於世。門人普壽敬持行實,J40nB492_p0494c07勉余請銘。余才輕德薄,不敢汙禪師之德,自念為師J40nB492_p0494c08嗣法弟子海舟和尚座下參學久矣,況吾祖父亦授J40nB492_p0494c09天目中峰和尚戒諭,往來不徹。余一日請問海舟曰:J40nB492_p0494c10「《圓覺經》云:『修多羅教如標月指,若復見月,了知所標J40nB492_p0494c11畢竟非月。』此理如何?」舟舉手云:「經也,月也,指也。」余懵J40nB492_p0494c12然,舟拍案一下云:「月落寒潭。」因而有省,乃知月指不J40nB492_p0494c13別為經,從此知師之道非凡情之所測也。了知一月J40nB492_p0494c14當天,本無標指無指,恐觀者不睹真月直指之言,智J40nB492_p0494c15者觀之有進,故述其銘。銘曰:

J40nB492_p0495a02 J40nB492_p0495a03師諱時蔚,字萬峰,出溫州樂清金氏。母鄭,夢儒釋二J40nB492_p0495a04人入其寢,覺而生二子。師居末,適有光燭室,鄭懼欲J40nB492_p0495a05弗舉,其姑保而育之。襁抱中見僧,輒微笑作合掌態。J40nB492_p0495a06父母度不可留,使禮越之永慶寺昇講主為師,時年J40nB492_p0495a07十一。嘗誦《法華經》,至「諸法從本來,常自寂滅相」,忽有J40nB492_p0495a08省。遂入杭受具,參止巖禪師於虎跑,示以南泉三不J40nB492_p0495a09是語。別入達蓬山,卓菴佛跡寺古址,晝夜究竟巖語,J40nB492_p0495a10至忘寢食。一日,寺主宗律師舉似溈山淨瓶公案,觸J40nB492_p0495a11所參,即說偈云:「顛顛倒倒老南泉,累我工夫卻半年。J40nB492_p0495a12當下若能親薦得,如何不進劈胸拳?」遂往見巖,詰前J40nB492_p0495a13語,獻偈云:「南泉正是惱人心,更要將心去覓心。不是J40nB492_p0495a14心兮不是物,性天寬廓有何尋?」復之華頂,訪無見睹J40nB492_p0495a15公。見問:「從何處來?」師云:「從杭州來。」「曾見何人」?師云:「止J40nB492_p0495a16巖和尚。」「有何指示?」師云:「南泉三不是。」見云:「我這裏南J40nB492_p0495a17泉三不是即不問,如何萬法歸一?」師云:「從生至死皆J40nB492_p0495a18無一。」又問:「如何是一歸何處?」師近前叉手云:「不審。」見J40nB492_p0495a19云:「且居山保守。」還返達蓬,獨處者十稔。已而往伏龍J40nB492_p0495a20山中,謁千巖禪師。初入室,問:「將甚麼與老僧相見?」師J40nB492_p0495a21豎拳頭云:「這裏與和尚相見。」巖問:「死了燒了,向何處J40nB492_p0495a22安身立命?」師云:「漚生漚滅水還在,風息波平月映潭。」J40nB492_p0495a23巖復云:「莫要請益受戒麼?」師即掩耳而去。明日,巖請J40nB492_p0495a24眾斫松,師拈圓石作獻珠狀,云:「請和尚酬價。」巖云:「不J40nB492_p0495a25直半分錢。」師云:「瞎。」巖云:「我也瞎,你也瞎。」師云:「瞎!瞎!」即J40nB492_p0495a26說偈云:「龍宮女子將珠獻,價直三千與大千。卻被傍J40nB492_p0495a27觀人決破,誰知不值半分錢?」巖顧昭首座曰:「蔚山主J40nB492_p0495a28頗有衲僧氣味,煩請歸堂。」比佛誕日,巖上堂云:「今日J40nB492_p0495a29有三種好事:一者、世尊降誕;二者、天道晴明;三者、有J40nB492_p0495a30大施主設齋。若向此三種好事上識得老僧舌頭落J40nB492_p0495b01處,日消萬兩黃金。」師從西過東,一手指天,一手指地,J40nB492_p0495b02云:「天中天,天中天,釋迦彌勒誰後先?」巖云:「大師子吼J40nB492_p0495b03過了也,還有小師子麼?」未幾,復還佛跡,巖遺以衣、拂J40nB492_p0495b04各一,并偈一首,見千巖語錄中。既而移居嵩山,閱九J40nB492_p0495b05載,巖三為手書招之,所以愛重期待者甚厚。比至,請J40nB492_p0495b06與分座,尋返嵩山,巖囑云:「汝緣在浙西,可往化導,大J40nB492_p0495b07振吾宗。」遂以元末己丑年入吳,凡三築精藍,卒之袁J40nB492_p0495b08墓鄧蔚山中,卓錫半山,斬蒙羃結菴居之。久之,四眾J40nB492_p0495b09歸嚮,乃搆為大伽藍,號曰聖恩。自是緇素奔輳,遠邇J40nB492_p0495b10雲集,師隨機開導,俾滿意欲,初不為雕琢語,故人益J40nB492_p0495b11慕而信之。一日,忽沐浴更衣,召眾訣別,書偈曰:「七十J40nB492_p0495b12九年,一味杜田。懸崖撒手,杲日當天。」遂趺坐而逝,時J40nB492_p0495b13洪武十四年正月二十九日也。龕留十有三日,顏色J40nB492_p0495b14如生,傾城聚觀,膜拜瞻嘆。其徒普壽等,奉全身合二J40nB492_p0495b15缶,瘞菴之西崗,遵治命也。師貌古而清,髭鬢疏秀,寡J40nB492_p0495b16緣飾,千巖稱其純粹質樸,有古人氣象,深得之矣。師J40nB492_p0495b17歿垂四十年,吳人無少長,咸知遵慕其行,嘉、湖諸郡,J40nB492_p0495b18至有繪像而事之者。其生卒之辰,遠邇畢集,如其生J40nB492_p0495b19時。而傑閣重樓,逾增舊觀,焚修之徒,數常滿百,歸然J40nB492_p0495b20為一大叢林,雖宿號名山盛剎,或未之能先焉。巖所J40nB492_p0495b21囑者,益又驗矣。師平生未常讀書,惟以深悟自得,其J40nB492_p0495b22形諸語默者,俱能刊落浮華,而一踐乎實。其徒普壽J40nB492_p0495b23等,輯為萬峰語錄一帙,鋟梓流行,然非師志也。其所J40nB492_p0495b24度弟子若干人,得法弟子若干人,而勝學無念者,獨J40nB492_p0495b25號能紹其傳云。贊曰:昔中峰普應國師,以臨濟正宗,J40nB492_p0495b26振耀天目,得其心印者,弟子千巖也。千巖再傳,而師J40nB492_p0495b27實承之。厥後無念學公,復親受師衣法之付,受知J40nB492_p0495b28太祖高皇帝,龍章寵錫,雲漢昭回,天目淵源,遂為有J40nB492_p0495b29托,師所付得人矣。嗚呼盛哉!

J40nB492_p0495c02嗚呼!三百年來,天下老和尚之真精神不得見其大J40nB492_p0495c03全也,審矣!何則?自元迄今,義學橫出,遮障宗風,每議J40nB492_p0495c04語錄不應出自身前,故多後人竊錄,漫附己意,稍于J40nB492_p0495c05一字一語差池,則毫釐千里,於文或妙,於宗則失。故J40nB492_p0495c06國朝語錄,宗旨不備,多致湮沒。間有好事者翻刻舊J40nB492_p0495c07錄,又以改削宗旨為自任,妄意增損,無從訂正,則傳J40nB492_p0495c08燈一脈漸為微弱,良可慨也!茲萬峰禪師語錄,二百J40nB492_p0495c09年餘幾經重鋟矣!觀其三玄頌,不以臨濟之三玄而J40nB492_p0495c10蹈玄沙三玄之名,則誤矣!至若第三玄,則曰:本來無J40nB492_p0495c11一物,萬象盡蠲蠲。若此,正六祖未徹悟時語,通身座J40nB492_p0495c12主見解也,豈臨濟第三玄之旨哉?予詢其來,則草本J40nB492_p0495c13傳自他家,種草不得不辯,特因姑蘇脫塵萬居士施J40nB492_p0495c14貲重付諸梓,而出其疑案於卷尾,為後之明眼者證J40nB492_p0495c15所異,宗旨載明,玄風永扇,為祖燈之光燦不替云。

J40nB492_p0496a12 J40nB492_p0496a14 J40nB492_p0496a15 J40nB492_p0496a16師諱慧旵,字東明,號虛白,姓王氏。其先湖廣人也,J40nB492_p0496a17父為丹陽稅課司副使,遂家焉。母黃氏,方娠,一夕J40nB492_p0496a18夢僧頂包入門。及產,師有異質,警悟不凡,經書過J40nB492_p0496a19目,即能成誦。甫七歲,嘗夢坐稠人中,揮麈談論。醒J40nB492_p0496a20以告母,母曰:「此僧家說法象也,他日令汝出家。」年J40nB492_p0496a21十四,即禮邑之妙覺寺僧性某湛然為師。湛然問J40nB492_p0496a22曰:「汝為何事?」答曰:「作佛。」然大奇之。既為落髮受戒,J40nB492_p0496a23晨夕精進,服勤三載。值湛然轉江西疏山住持,時J40nB492_p0496a24聞松隱唱導雲間,即往咨叩其心印。至一小庵,自J40nB492_p0496a25誓曰:「我今若不徹證,決不復回。」遂禪定。至六日,方J40nB492_p0496a26出定。舉首睹松,豁然有省。自此晝夜無睡,坐如鐵J40nB492_p0496a27幢,故諸方號之為旵鐵脊。尋又至蘇之玄墓山,見J40nB492_p0496a28果林和尚,針芥相投,然後指示見寶藏持禪師。師J40nB492_p0496a29具陳悟因,藏斥之曰:「佛法如大海,轉入轉深,那裏J40nB492_p0496a30泊在此處?」師遂親炙於座下。藏一日問曰:「心不是J40nB492_p0496b01佛,智不是道,汝云何會?」師向前問訊,叉手而立。藏J40nB492_p0496b02呵之曰:「汝在此許多時,還作遮個見解?」師乃發憤,J40nB492_p0496b03忘寢食。至第二夜,驀然徹法源底。遂呈偈曰:「一拳J40nB492_p0496b04打破太虛空,百億須彌不露蹤。借問個中誰是主,J40nB492_p0496b05扶桑湧出一輪紅。」藏笑曰:「雖然如是,也須善自護J40nB492_p0496b06持。時節既至,其理自彰。」師受囑別去。至永樂甲申J40nB492_p0496b07歲,登天目,結千日期。期滿,至昭慶受具。戊子,訪安J40nB492_p0496b08溪古道場道通禪師遺蹤。師見其峰巒秀拔,遂有J40nB492_p0496b09終焉之意。山之先住靜人,恐其侵據,鬱悒不樂。夜J40nB492_p0496b10夢神人告曰:「汝不可輕慢此僧,後當大建道場,弘J40nB492_p0496b11法度人。」師於山中入關,一住三十餘年,影不出山。J40nB492_p0496b12道風揚播,緇素信向。四方請益者接踵,雖耆年宿J40nB492_p0496b13衲,亦爭趨座下。蓋其誨迪獎勵,未嘗少倦。有疑而J40nB492_p0496b14決者,析以片言,莫不冷然省解。是致檀施填委,學J40nB492_p0496b15徒雲集,恒至數百。因居所狹隘,不能容眾。宣德丁J40nB492_p0496b16未,遂拓基營繕。不二年間,殿堂、門廡、禪室、方丈、鐘J40nB492_p0496b17樓、庫宇、僧寮、庖湢,凡所宜有者,靡不畢備,遂成一J40nB492_p0496b18大叢林。宣德乙卯,欽蒙J40nB492_p0496b19賜額為東明禪寺。復為度僧,俾奉香火。至于己未,罄J40nB492_p0496b20以檀那獻施羨餘財帛,重建淨慈佛殿。辛酉六月J40nB492_p0496b21廿有七日,命齋僧眾。眾知師意不久住世,請師留J40nB492_p0496b22偈。師曰:「一大藏教無人看著,爭用得遮幾句閑言J40nB492_p0496b23語?」至二十九日辰時間,辭眾跏趺而逝。停龕七日,J40nB492_p0496b24顏貌如生。官貴僧俗扶送者數千人,依法茶毘,獲J40nB492_p0496b25設利無數,明瑩如珠。眾函遺骨,并設利葬於山之J40nB492_p0496b26東塢而塔焉。師世壽七十,僧臘五十有五,弟子僅J40nB492_p0496b27百人,受戒者、請誨益者數萬人。蓋師平昔訓誨學J40nB492_p0496b28徒,無分高下,隨機設變,各以其病藥之。若遇初機,J40nB492_p0496b29則和顏悅色,軟語恬言,使人醉心快意,如坐春風J40nB492_p0496b30中。及其較勘宿學,務必辯其淺深,究其源委,毫髮J40nB492_p0496c01不容虛偽。苟有果能進道者,解衣推食而勉之。至J40nB492_p0496c02于屠臘之輩,遇師訓誨,無不改惡遷善。唯其道力J40nB492_p0496c03強固,解行兼全,以身任道,務在闡揚宗旨,志在利J40nB492_p0496c04他,有扣即應,故能致人信向皈依,如是之多。今其J40nB492_p0496c05上首本寺住持覺明,令僧智宗、智鑑,齎天竺靈山J40nB492_p0496c06住持臨川妙偘,狀師行業,徵余為銘。余於宗門未J40nB492_p0496c07嘗究竟,罔措頌美之辭,特摘狀所實為銘,庶幾不J40nB492_p0496c08失其實,俾末學得以瞻承遺範云爾。銘曰:

師拈云:「世尊也是無風起浪,捏目生花;迦J40nB492_p0488b26葉亦乃承虛接響,無事生非。正法眼藏、涅槃妙心J40nB492_p0488b27阿誰欠少?且作麼生分付?既以迦葉破顏微笑,直J40nB492_p0488b28下承當,此一枝花付與迦葉了也。只今花在世尊J40nB492_p0488b29手裏?迦葉手裏?試道看。」
J40nB492_p0488b30「瞬目揚眉只此枝,栽培深處幾人知。傍觀若不揚J40nB492_p0488c01家醜,無限香風付阿誰?」
