J40nB487_p0299c05南嶽懷讓禪師,金州杜氏子。年十五出家,謁嵩山安J40nB487_p0299c06公,指參六祖。祖問:「甚處來?」師云:「嵩山來。」祖云:「甚麼物J40nB487_p0299c07與麼來?」師無對。退參八載,復來答云:「說似一物即不J40nB487_p0299c08中。」祖云:「還假修證也無?」師云:「修證即不無,染污即不J40nB487_p0299c09得。」祖云:「只此不染污,乃諸佛之所護念。汝既如是,吾J40nB487_p0299c10亦如是。」得法後,侍祖一十五載,復居南嶽。
南嶽第二世
J40nB487_p0299c14江西馬祖道一禪師,漢州什邡人,姓馬氏。幼歲出家,J40nB487_p0299c15開元中習定衡嶽,遇讓和尚問云:「大德坐禪圖甚麼?」J40nB487_p0299c16師云:「圖作佛。」讓將磚一片于彼菴前石上磨,師云:「磨J40nB487_p0299c17作甚麼?」讓云:「磨作鏡。」師云:「磨磚豈得成鏡耶?」讓云:「磨J40nB487_p0299c18磚既不成鏡,坐禪豈得成佛?」師云:「如何即是?」讓云:「如J40nB487_p0299c19牛駕車,車若不行,打車即是?打牛即是?」師無對。讓云:J40nB487_p0299c20「汝學坐禪,為學作佛?若學坐禪,禪非坐臥;若學作佛,J40nB487_p0299c21佛非定相,於無住法不應取捨。汝學作佛,即是殺佛;J40nB487_p0299c22若執坐相,非達其理。」師聞開示,如飲醍醐,乃受心印。J40nB487_p0299c23開法南昌寶峰山,僧問:「和尚為甚麼說即心即佛?」師J40nB487_p0299c24云:「為止小兒啼。」僧云:「啼止時如何?」師云:「非心非佛。」僧J40nB487_p0299c25云:「除此二種人來,如何指示?」師云:「向伊道:『不是物。』」其J40nB487_p0299c26化盛行江西。
磨磚坐佛兩俱非,撥轉牛車露大機,悟徹心空真J40nB487_p0299c28印後,精金百煉愈光輝。
南嶽第三世
J40nB487_p0299c30洪州百丈懷海禪師,福州長樂人,姓王氏。丱歲出家,J40nB487_p0300a01三學該練,及參馬祖為侍者。偶侍祖行次,見野鴨飛J40nB487_p0300a02過,祖云:「是甚麼?」師云:「野鴨子。」祖云:「甚處去也?」師云:「飛J40nB487_p0300a03過去也。」祖扭師鼻,師負痛失聲,祖云:「又道飛過去也」。J40nB487_p0300a04師有省。一日再參,祖震威一喝,師三日耳聾。後黃檗J40nB487_p0300a05聞舉,不覺吐舌。
群飛野鴨白雲邊,扭痛鼻頭甚可憐,一喝耳聾千J40nB487_p0300a07古意,雄峰從此浪彌天。
南嶽第四世
J40nB487_p0300a09洪州黃檗希運禪師,閩中人。幼歲出家,至京洛行乞,J40nB487_p0300a10吟添缽聲,一嫗出扉問曰:「太無厭生!」師云:「汝猶未施,J40nB487_p0300a11責我無厭,何耶?」嫗笑而掩扉,師異之。後往南昌見馬J40nB487_p0300a12祖,祖已示寂。時百丈為祖廬墓,師見丈,丈舉耳聾話,J40nB487_p0300a13師吐舌,丈云:「汝嗣馬祖去。」師云:「某來參馬祖,不料無J40nB487_p0300a14緣,因和尚斯舉,得見馬祖大機大用。若嗣馬祖,恐以J40nB487_p0300a15後喪我兒孫。」及開法,上堂,眾纔入,師召云:「大眾!」眾回J40nB487_p0300a16首,師云:「月似彎弓,少雨多風。」
聞舉舌頭忙吐出,大張機用顯全才,月似彎弓論J40nB487_p0300a18風雨,棒頭有眼豁然開。
南嶽第五世
J40nB487_p0300a20鎮州臨濟義玄禪師。曹州南華人,姓邢氏。落髮進具,J40nB487_p0300a21志慕禪宗。初參黃檗,三度問佛法的的大意,三度被J40nB487_p0300a22打。及到大愚處悟徹,于大愚脅下築三拳,復轉黃檗,J40nB487_p0300a23打黃檗一掌。後臨滹沱河側開堂,建立黃檗宗旨,號J40nB487_p0300a24臨濟宗。
三遭痛棒還拳處,長劍倚天會者稀,佛法無多親J40nB487_p0300a26口出,當陽一句露真機。
南嶽第六世
J40nB487_p0300a28魏府興化存獎禪師,初在臨濟為侍者,因訊洛浦來J40nB487_p0300a29參機緣,兩遭濟打。及到三聖處為首座,聖問師,師便J40nB487_p0300a30喝,聖云:「須是你始得。」復到大覺處為院主,覺問師,師J40nB487_p0300b01便喝,覺便打,師又喝,覺又打。次日,覺又問師,師亦喝,J40nB487_p0300b02覺亦打,師再喝,覺再打,至脫下衲衣痛與一頓處,直J40nB487_p0300b03下薦得臨濟在黃檗喫棒底道理。迨後開堂,拈香云:J40nB487_p0300b04「者瓣香本為三聖師兄,三聖于我太孤;本為大覺師J40nB487_p0300b05兄,大覺于我太賒,不如供養臨濟先師。」
大作雷聲無點雨,棒頭撥轉目前機,其中薦得孤J40nB487_p0300b07賒處,臨濟先師供養伊。
南嶽第七世
J40nB487_p0300b09汝州南院慧顒禪師,得法于興化獎。開堂後,有僧來J40nB487_p0300b10參,云:「敗也。」師引杖向其前,僧無語,師便打數棒。
殺活臨機用最親,禪床掀倒不知音,棒頭點出金J40nB487_p0300b12剛眼,啐啄同時有幾人?
南嶽第八世
J40nB487_p0300b14汝州風穴延沼禪師,餘杭劉氏子。參南院,院問:「南方J40nB487_p0300b15一棒作麼商量?」師曰:「作奇特商量。」師卻問:「和尚此問J40nB487_p0300b16一棒作麼商量?」院拈拄杖曰:「棒下無生忍,臨機不見J40nB487_p0300b17師。」師于言下大徹玄旨,遂依止六年。
明明心印鐵牛機,棒下無生不見師,掣電轟雷能J40nB487_p0300b19殺活,豁然句裏悟玄微。
南嶽第九世
J40nB487_p0300b21汝州首山省念禪師,萊州狄氏子。參風穴,穴上堂,舉J40nB487_p0300b22世尊以青蓮目顧視大眾,乃曰:「正當恁麼時,且道說J40nB487_p0300b23箇甚麼?若道不說而說,又是埋沒先聖。且道說箇甚J40nB487_p0300b24麼?」師乃拂袖下去。穴擲下拄杖,歸方丈。次日,師與真J40nB487_p0300b25園頭同上,問訊次,穴問真曰:「作麼生是世尊不說說?」J40nB487_p0300b26真曰:「鵓鳩樹頭鳴。」又問師曰:「汝作麼生?」師曰:「動容揚J40nB487_p0300b27古路,不墮悄然機。」穴謂真曰:「汝何不看念法華下語?」
世尊顧視青蓮目,直下承當更不疑,拂袖便行多J40nB487_p0300b29瀟灑,當陽不墮悄然機。
南嶽第十世
J40nB487_p0300c01汾州太子院善昭禪師,太原俞氏子。幼有大智,一切J40nB487_p0300c02文字不由師訓,自然通曉。剃髮遊方,遍參尊宿七十J40nB487_p0300c03一人。最後見首山,問百丈捲席意旨,言下大悟,拜而J40nB487_p0300c04起云:「萬古碧潭空界月,再三撈摝始應知。」
參遍諸方猶不歇,霜眠露宿訪師來,應知皓月澄J40nB487_p0300c06潭現,放下身心曠劫灰。
南嶽第十一世
J40nB487_p0300c08潭州石霜慈明楚圓禪師,全州清湘李氏子。少為書J40nB487_p0300c09生,年廿二得度。母賢,遣之遊方。聞汾陽道望,冒險往J40nB487_p0300c10來。依住二載,未許入室。一夕訴曰:「自至法席,不蒙指J40nB487_p0300c11示。歲月飄忽,己事不明,失出家之利。」陽熟視罵詈,舉J40nB487_p0300c12杖逐之。師擬伸救,陽以手掩其口。師大悟,歎曰:「始知J40nB487_p0300c13臨濟道出常情。」
披星戴月謁汾陽,開口無端罵一場,拄杖拈來開J40nB487_p0300c15正眼,始知濟道出情常。
南嶽第十二世
J40nB487_p0300c17袁州楊岐方會禪師,宜春令氏子。久依慈明,未有省J40nB487_p0300c18發。每咨請,明云:「庫司事繁,且去。」他日又問,明云:「監寺J40nB487_p0300c19異時兒孫滿天下在,何用忙為?」明適出,師偵之小徑,J40nB487_p0300c20既見,搊住云:「老漢今日須與我說,不說打你去。」明云:J40nB487_p0300c21「監寺知是般事便休。」語未卒,師大悟,即拜于泥途,開J40nB487_p0300c22法楊岐。僧問:「少林面壁,意旨如何?」師云:「西天人不會J40nB487_p0300c23唐言。」
西天人不會唐言,箇事當場啟口難,堪憶少林常J40nB487_p0300c25面壁,覺來無地著羞漸。
南嶽第十三世
J40nB487_p0300c27舒州白雲守端禪師,衡陽葛氏子。依茶陵郁披剃,往J40nB487_p0300c28參楊岐,岐問:「受業師為誰?」師云:「茶陵郁和尚。」岐云:「聞J40nB487_p0300c29伊過橋遭什有偈,能記否?」師舉云:「我有明珠一顆,久J40nB487_p0300c30被塵勞關鎖,今朝塵盡光生,照破山河萬朵。」岐笑而J40nB487_p0301a01趨起,師愕然,通夕不寐。黎明諮詢之,岐云:「汝見昨日J40nB487_p0301a02打敺儺者麼?」師云:「見。」岐云:「汝一籌不及渠。」師愈駭然,J40nB487_p0301a03云:「何謂也?」岐云:「渠愛人笑,汝怕人笑。」師大悟。
照乘明珠覿面呈,笑中有意愕然驚,忽從句裏翻J40nB487_p0301a05身去,衣裏寒光耀更真。
南嶽第十四世
J40nB487_p0301a07蘄州五祖法演禪師,綿州鄧氏子。年三十五始祝髮,J40nB487_p0301a08遍參名宿,因浮山指見白雲,問南泉摩尼珠話,雲叱J40nB487_p0301a09之,師領悟,獻投機偈曰:「山前一片閒田地,叉手叮嚀J40nB487_p0301a10問祖翁;幾度賣來還自買,為憐松竹引清風。」雲特印J40nB487_p0301a11可。雲一日謂師曰:「有數禪客自廬山來,皆有悟入處,J40nB487_p0301a12教伊說亦說得,有來由舉因緣問伊亦明得,教伊下J40nB487_p0301a13語亦下得,秪是未在。」師于是大疑,私自計曰:「既悟了,J40nB487_p0301a14說亦說得,明亦明得,如何卻未在?」遂參究累日,忽然J40nB487_p0301a15省悟,從前寶惜一時放下,走見白雲,雲為手舞足蹈,J40nB487_p0301a16師亦笑而已。師後曰:「吾因茲出一身白汗,便明得下J40nB487_p0301a17載清風。」
人人有片閒田地,何必叮嚀問主翁,一笑通身流J40nB487_p0301a19白汗,忽然脫體露真風。
南嶽第十五世
J40nB487_p0301a21成都昭覺克勤佛果禪師,彭州駱氏子。兒時日記千J40nB487_p0301a22言,見佛書如獲舊物。出家首謁玉泉皓,次依金鑾信、J40nB487_p0301a23大溈哲、黃龍心、東林度,僉指為法器,而晦堂稱他日J40nB487_p0301a24臨濟一派屬子矣。最後見五祖,盡其機用,祖皆不諾,J40nB487_p0301a25師忿然而去。到金山,染寒困極,試以平日見處無得J40nB487_p0301a26力者,乃轉依五祖,令入侍寮。聞舉提刑小艷詩話,祖J40nB487_p0301a27云:「他秪認得聲。」師云:「他既認得聲,為甚麼卻不是?」祖J40nB487_p0301a28云:「如何是祖師西來意?庭前柏樹子聻?」師忽有省。出J40nB487_p0301a29門見雞飛上闌干,鼓翅而鳴,復自謂云:「此豈不是聲?」J40nB487_p0301a30遂袖香入室,通其所得。祖云:「佛祖大事,非小根劣器J40nB487_p0301b01所能造詣,吾助汝喜。」由此所至,推為上首。
雞上欄杆鼓翅鳴,夢中驚覺五陵春,香風滿袖通J40nB487_p0301b03身快,秪要檀郎認得聲。
南嶽第十六世
J40nB487_p0301b05臨安徑山大慧宗杲普覺禪師,宣城奚氏子。年十六J40nB487_p0301b06出家,十七落髮,十九遊方,謁湛堂。後參圜悟,聞薰風J40nB487_p0301b07自南來,殿角生微涼,語省豁。悟每舉有句無句話問J40nB487_p0301b08之,師擬開口,悟便云:「不是。」一日,師問悟云:「聞和尚曾J40nB487_p0301b09問五祖師翁來,不知道箇甚麼?」悟笑而不答。師云:「當J40nB487_p0301b10時想是對眾問,今日說亦何妨?」悟云:「我問:『有句無句,J40nB487_p0301b11如藤倚樹。』意旨如何?祖云:『描也描不成,畫也畫不就。』J40nB487_p0301b12又問:『樹倒藤枯時如何?』祖云:『相隨來也。』」師當下釋然。J40nB487_p0301b13悟云:「始知我不汝欺也。」遂著臨濟正宗記付之。
薰風南起閣生涼,諸佛明明不覆藏,萬朵白雲吹J40nB487_p0301b15散去,當陽一片露堂堂。
南嶽第十七世
J40nB487_p0301b17福州西禪懶菴鼎需禪師,本郡林氏子。幼舉進士,偶J40nB487_p0301b18看《遺教經》,歎曰:「幾為儒冠所誤。」欲去家,母以親迎難J40nB487_p0301b19之,師絕之以偈云:「夭桃紅杏,一時分付春風;翠竹黃J40nB487_p0301b20花,此去永為道伴。」竟依保壽出家,遍參名宿。後依大J40nB487_p0301b21慧,慧問:「內不放出,外不放入,正恁麼時如何?」師擬開J40nB487_p0301b22口,慧拈竹篦連打三下,師于此大悟,厲聲云:「和尚已J40nB487_p0301b23多了也。」慧又打,師禮拜,慧印以偈。一日,上堂云:「懶翁J40nB487_p0301b24懶中懶,最懶懶說禪;亦不重自己,亦不重先賢。又誰J40nB487_p0301b25管你地?又誰管你天?物外翛然無箇事,日上三竿猶J40nB487_p0301b26更眠。」
拈來竹篦甚分明,棒下承當得本真,最懶說禪無J40nB487_p0301b28可說,三竿日上懶翻身。
南嶽第十八世
J40nB487_p0301b30福州鼓山木菴安永禪師,閩縣吳氏子。弱冠為僧,謁J40nB487_p0301c01懶菴于雲門,懶問:「不問有言,不問無言,世尊良久,不J40nB487_p0301c02得向世尊良久處會。」隨後便喝。師倏然契悟,作禮云:J40nB487_p0301c03「不因今日問,爭喪目前機。」懶許之。上堂,拈拄杖云:「臨J40nB487_p0301c04濟小廝兒未曾當頭道著,今日全身放憨,也要諸人J40nB487_p0301c05知有。」擲拄杖,下座。
問得分明答豈差,一聲喝出絕週遮,目前驚散浮J40nB487_p0301c07雲盡,月印千江玉浪花。
南嶽第十九世
J40nB487_p0301c09杭州淨慈晦翁悟明禪師,福州人。上堂,舉夾山會下J40nB487_p0301c10一僧到高亭,纔禮拜,亭便打,僧云:「特來禮拜。」亭亦打,J40nB487_p0301c11又拜,亭又打,趁出。僧回,舉似夾山,山云:「會麼?」僧云:「不J40nB487_p0301c12會。」山云:「賴汝不會,汝若會,即夾山口啞去。」應菴拈云:J40nB487_p0301c13「高亭一期忍俊不禁,爭奈拄杖放行太速。者僧當時J40nB487_p0301c14若是箇漢,莫道高亭、夾山,便是達磨大師出來也斬J40nB487_p0301c15為三段。何故?家肥生孝子,國伯有謀臣。」師云:「高亭、夾J40nB487_p0301c16山,門庭施設各得其宜,但中間一人較些子。應菴與J40nB487_p0301c17麼道,也是鞏縣茶瓶。」師纂修《聯燈會要》。
門庭施設法中王,正令全提孰敢當?識得中間較J40nB487_p0301c19些子,聯燈千古繼心光。
南嶽第二十世
J40nB487_p0301c21太原苦口良益禪師,參淨慈,慈問:「近離甚處?」師云:「瑞J40nB487_p0301c22光。」慈云:「正與麼時,光在甚處?」師便喝,慈云:「且止,汝道J40nB487_p0301c23西湖水深多少?」師擬議,慈便打趁出。久之契悟,作偈J40nB487_p0301c24曰:「臨機一句,不露絲頭,吹毛纔展,大地全收。」師云:「從J40nB487_p0301c25上心印,汝今得之,宜處深谷,俟時行化。」
問到西湖水淺深,棒頭點出甚分明,臨機一句吹J40nB487_p0301c27毛劍,從上心珠印得真。
南嶽第二十一世
J40nB487_p0301c29汾州筏渡普慈禪師,初參徑山端、高峰妙,各有契處。J40nB487_p0301c30後北還,過燕,遊五臺,禮文殊,感大士放光。居臺二年,J40nB487_p0302a01入太原,參益和尚。益云:「發足甚處?」師云:「五臺。」益云:「文J40nB487_p0302a02殊與汝說甚麼?」師云:「腳下草鞋唱成一百文。」益云:「腳J40nB487_p0302a03跟為甚麼不點地?」師云:「且喜老漢見得親切。」益云:「老J40nB487_p0302a04僧罪過。」師喝一喝而出。自此常造室中。久之,益囑云:J40nB487_p0302a05「汝緣當在本處,他後設大法藥,宜號筏渡。」師禮謝,歸J40nB487_p0302a06汾州。
徑山參過謁高峰,猶是文殊光影中,草鞋踏斷真J40nB487_p0302a08消息,一喝當陽播正宗。
南嶽二十二世
J40nB487_p0302a10洛京相國一言道顯禪師,雁門人。生而岐嶷,穎悟英J40nB487_p0302a11特。年十二,自願出家,父母難之,師云:「兒志決矣,未可J40nB487_p0302a12強留。」遂落髮于郡之西山,聽講《圓覺》,至〈知幻即離章〉,J40nB487_p0302a13頓然默契,恍若舊識。乃辭師遊汾州,謁筏渡,渡一見J40nB487_p0302a14器之,命入侍寮。一日,渡舉竹篦問云:「畢竟喚作甚麼?」J40nB487_p0302a15師方進語,渡驀頭便打,忽然大悟,禮拜云:「和尚且止,J40nB487_p0302a16古人道:『佛法無多子。』非虛語也。」渡云:「汝今方知吾意J40nB487_p0302a17耶?」師云:「和尚大恩,碎身難報。」渡囑云:「汝年且幼,時至J40nB487_p0302a18理彰。」師執勞座下一十七載。
竹篦拈來活似龍,驀頭一棒悟心空,無多佛法明J40nB487_p0302a20今古,恩大難酬此日功。
南嶽第二十三世
J40nB487_p0302a22西京小菴行密禪師,初以白衣禮相國顯和尚,凡見J40nB487_p0302a23便禮拜。顯一日謂云:「道人禮拜且止,佛法在甚處?」師J40nB487_p0302a24方舉首,忽聞板聲鳴,顯云:「只者是。」師從此有入,遂求J40nB487_p0302a25度。顯云:「汝誠精進,宜名行密。」力參三年,顯舉馬祖三J40nB487_p0302a26不是,語未絕,師云:「畢竟如何?」顯笑云:「已多了也。」師于J40nB487_p0302a27言下釋然大悟。顯云:「佛法下衰,正宜潛隱,毋拘城隍,J40nB487_p0302a28得安身處最為佳耳。」
一聲板響通消息,惹得三年滿腳泥,聞舉南泉三J40nB487_p0302a30不是,忽于句下悟全機。
南嶽第二十四世
J40nB487_p0302b02二仰圓欽禪師,禾之秀水人。遍參諸方,毫無所契。入J40nB487_p0302b03西京,謁小菴密于旅舍,密問:「浙中有箇伶俐人,汝還J40nB487_p0302b04見麼?」師云:「圓欽鈍漢。」密云:「我要箇鈍漢作監收,汝還J40nB487_p0302b05知麼?」師罔措。密云:「數千里來,可惜錯過。」師相依扣參。J40nB487_p0302b06一日,見鼠從架上過,撲翻油甕,忽爾頓契,走見密云:J40nB487_p0302b07「某已捉得了也。」密搊住云:「道!道!」師云:「一粒鼠糞污卻J40nB487_p0302b08鍋羹。」密云:「瞎漢!參堂去。」
南嶽第二十五世
J40nB487_p0302b12壽州無念智有禪師,蜀之漢州人。出峽遊四明登天J40nB487_p0302b13目,後參二仰欽,欽云:「行腳甚處?」師云:「南方。」欽云:「彼中J40nB487_p0302b14佛法如何?」師云:「山川無異。」欽云:「我手何似佛手?」師良J40nB487_p0302b15久,欽云:「莫道無異好。」後看興化打維那因緣,始浩然J40nB487_p0302b16大徹,作偈云:「興化打維那,平地遭殃禍,昨夜南山雲,J40nB487_p0302b17飛向北山過。」欽見為之助喜云:「不辜到此。」
遍歷南方涉四明,山川有異一般春,南山雲向北J40nB487_p0302b19山去,片片飛來露本真。
南嶽第二十六世
J40nB487_p0302b21荊山懷寶禪師,渚宮人。遊壽州,謁無念有,有云:「獵縣J40nB487_p0302b22遊州,畢竟為著何事?」師云:「生死大事,求師拔度。」有云:J40nB487_p0302b23「汝是荊州人麼?」師云:「是。」有云:「闍黎即今在甚麼處?」師J40nB487_p0302b24擬對,有云:「若便恁麼,猶較些子,佛法不是商量。參堂J40nB487_p0302b25去!」師潛心座下。一日,有喚云:「闍黎!」師應諾。有云:「在甚J40nB487_p0302b26麼處?」師于言下領旨。後于嘉靖七年正法付鐵牛遠,J40nB487_p0302b27師隱終南山。
呼來喚去有何因,應答分明豈不親,荊山有寶從J40nB487_p0302b29今識,悟得真空一片心。
南嶽第二十七世
J40nB487_p0302c01秦嶺鐵牛德遠禪師,得心印于荊山,菴居秦嶺,常披J40nB487_p0302c02一紅布褲。一日,頂笠揮鋤,地中月明,聯池過之,池見J40nB487_p0302c03云:「者漢好似一頭軍。」師云:「看箭。」池作躲箭勢,師近前J40nB487_p0302c04攜手至菴,留住三月,謂云:「我乃大慧之裔,在此待人J40nB487_p0302c05數十年矣,汝今既來,當為我求人光揚祖道。」付偈云:J40nB487_p0302c06「就身能打劫,劈筈善奪窩,三玄從此出,三要不為多。J40nB487_p0302c07探竿影草主賓分,獅子迷蹤奈我何?」
身披紅褲當僧衣,頂笠揮鋤掘地時,好似一軍須J40nB487_p0302c09看箭,光揚祖道露全機。

J40nB487_p0302c11敘州朝陽月明聯池禪師,本郡范司馬之後。幼居窗J40nB487_p0302c12下,有僧過訪不遇,題聯于壁。師見厭世祝髮,杖笠南J40nB487_p0302c13遊,過洛伽,道逢一僧,偉儀殊相。師前行失腳,念佛一J40nB487_p0302c14聲,僧云:「此敲門瓦子,何不拋卻?」師云:「拋卻後如何?」僧J40nB487_p0302c15云:「葉落歸根,來時無口。」師有省。後于秦嶺受印鐵牛,J40nB487_p0302c16返敘州,居朱提山朝陽洞。聚雲來參,師問云:「如何是J40nB487_p0302c17古佛心?」雲拱手云:「請和尚尊重。」師問:「不用音聲與色J40nB487_p0302c18身,將何喚作本來人?」雲默然,師休去。
朝陽洞口月初明,指出當陽古佛心,拱手端然請J40nB487_p0302c20尊重,渾忘聲色貴知音。
南嶽第二十九世
J40nB487_p0302c22忠州聚雲吹萬廣真禪師,敘州宜賓人,姓李氏。以白J40nB487_p0302c23衣參朝陽多載,乃落髮受具。一日,陽謂師云:「汝有一J40nB487_p0302c24句未會在。」師問:「那一句?」陽云:「不用音聲色身、默然良J40nB487_p0302c25久,與我現出真空來。」師拂袖便出,自思:「此事不可草J40nB487_p0302c26草,此中必有玄要。」辭往別山,苦參三年。復見朝陽,問J40nB487_p0302c27云:「畢竟如何現出?」陽引師手掩其口,豁然大悟。囑後,J40nB487_p0302c28師涉海入吳,穿閩過粵。萬曆戊午,于瀟湘湖東開法,J40nB487_p0302c29還蜀闡化。聚雲出世三十年,五坐道場。語錄二十卷、J40nB487_p0302c30廣錄五十卷行世。
退參三載聚雲開,喜得真空現出來,每向紅爐經J40nB487_p0303a02久煆,道行楚蜀顯英才。
南嶽第三十世
J40nB487_p0303a04忠州治平慶忠鐵壁慧機禪師,營山羅氏子,家世業J40nB487_p0303a05儒。師生而貌偉,器骨不凡。八歲隨母持齋,稍長厭俗,J40nB487_p0303a06于天啟壬戌薙髮。後參聚雲,依住一夏,不蒙垂示。一J40nB487_p0303a07日,雲出方丈,師跪泣于前,求雲開示,雲笑而不答。師J40nB487_p0303a08謂:「遇至人而無緣得授,不如捐軀赴水,以待來生。」有J40nB487_p0303a09諭以從講肆遊,師聽畢,復來相依,雲命總院事。一朝J40nB487_p0303a10念誦畢,登榻一踢,渾身骨碎,大笑不止,拈偈呈雲,雲J40nB487_p0303a11不之印。又力究三年,忽爾大徹,入室密以啟雲,雲云:J40nB487_p0303a12「汝今纔會老僧意那?」師云:「和尚大慈,為人徹底。」雲滅J40nB487_p0303a13後,師為廬墓,四眾堅請開法平都地藏院,十坐道場,J40nB487_p0303a14語錄二十卷。僧問:「如何是正法眼藏?」師云:「烏龜開夜J40nB487_p0303a15市。」
渾身骨碎未相許,三載參明得寶珠,脫殼烏龜開J40nB487_p0303a17夜市,杜鵑啼血染珊瑚。
南嶽第三十一世
J40nB487_p0303a19忠州高峰三山燈來禪師,墊江曾氏子,世業儒。師早J40nB487_p0303a20年入泮,性好佛書。一日,讀聚雲《古音王傳》,觸發夙慧。J40nB487_p0303a21年三十,從弔巖山、南浙二師祝髮,參鐵壁機和尚于J40nB487_p0303a22青山,領箇沒得話頭,終朝咀嚼,不發,泣語三巴掌師,J40nB487_p0303a23掌雖本色勉之,師愈迷悶。適聞笑亭維那讀嚴陽尊J40nB487_p0303a24者問趙州:「一物不將來時如何?」州云:「放下著。」師于言J40nB487_p0303a25下釋然,乃撫案大笑。亭曰:「見箇甚麼?」師與一掌,即趨J40nB487_p0303a26見機和尚。機曰:「作麼?作麼?」師連撫三掌。機曰:「落在甚J40nB487_p0303a27麼處?」師作舞而出,後隨機和尚、掌師山行,見浮雲東J40nB487_p0303a28西飛度,師問曰:「落在甚麼處?」機和尚向空中指云:「看J40nB487_p0303a29掌。」驀面便掌,由此腳跟點地,受機和尚囑。後開法崇J40nB487_p0303a30聖,凡六坐道場。康熙戊申歲,嘉禾縉紳請住郡之天J40nB487_p0303b01寧,闡揚道化,編梓三代語錄,入楞嚴大藏流通。
高峰絕頂全身露,但見雲飛西復東,驀而掌來如J40nB487_p0303b03霹靂,豁開正眼悟真空。
南嶽第三十二世
J40nB487_p0303b05寧波普陀別菴性統禪師,高梁龍氏子。年十二,投高J40nB487_p0303b06峰三山老人薙染,二十二受具。嘗請益山參究下手J40nB487_p0303b07工夫,山曰:「只須向自家屋裏打點。」師遂將平日讀過J40nB487_p0303b08經史從頭細檢究,無一下手處,心甚奮急。一日,聞山J40nB487_p0303b09舉南泉瓶鵝公案有省,山謂曰:「汝只會得有,何曾會J40nB487_p0303b10得無?」遂示以狗子無佛性話。逾年,無所入,請益,曰:「秪J40nB487_p0303b11如會得者箇,如何便了得生死?」山曰:「既會得者箇,如J40nB487_p0303b12何不了生死?」心益迷悶。後因山舉百丈開義田因緣,J40nB487_p0303b13至展手處,大徹玄旨,山乃印可。山示滅,遂繼席高峰,J40nB487_p0303b14尋遷普陀。法化之盛,風動遐邇。正錄外,著有《續燈正J40nB487_p0303b15統》,盛行于世。
心珠早得在高峰,拽杖南來正脈通,坐斷洛伽消J40nB487_p0303b17萬派,從茲重整舊家風。
甚麼物兮與麼來?當下無言眼未開,退參八載明J40nB487_p0299c12端的,遍界空花眼裏栽。
