普門顯禪師語錄卷上
佛,無取于語言文字也。彈指印心,拈花悟法,何語言J40nB485_p0279a03之有?獨是玄宗秘要,虛無空寂,即具生知之哲,尚莫J40nB485_p0279a04窺其涯際,而況頑根鈍質者,養非木雞;涉獵馳情者,J40nB485_p0279a05行同野狐。甚矣!禪定之難也。苟非藉語言以警發其J40nB485_p0279a06性靈,則黑暗千重,終從何處著腳?此J40nB485_p0279a07普門大師之錄,所宜亟為拓揭者也。師乃J40nB485_p0279a08鐵壁大師之苗裔,接續J40nB485_p0279a09吹萬老人之燈傳,誠實精進,了徹真詮,得未曾有。且J40nB485_p0279a10復弢光晦燄,不以舌鋒求聞達,誠有見于禪定之難,J40nB485_p0279a11未易以語言文字示人者。但慮後學厭膏梁而啖糠J40nB485_p0279a12秕、捨精髓而飾皮毛,故不憚婆心,偶爾饒舌,舉圓通J40nB485_p0279a13瀰淪景象,悉從語言中逗漏些子。惟望龍象眾,于無J40nB485_p0279a14言中求有言、于有言處悟無言,將問答棒喝,權實照J40nB485_p0279a15用,渾成一片,以各還其靈明不昧之本原,是則師之J40nB485_p0279a16宏願也。雖計語錄無多,然徑尺珊瑚,可當連城白璧,J40nB485_p0279a17諒具擇法眼者,當必有以辨之矣。

諸山請啟
J40nB485_p0279a22伏以梅熟枝頭,顆顆金丸映佛面;麥翻隴畔,騰騰銀J40nB485_p0279a23浪洽天心。喜值聖誕良辰,敬啟法筵再振。治平繼述,J40nB485_p0279a24宜塤箎以協韻相和;宗派悠長,正薪火以頻然不燼。J40nB485_p0279a25恭惟普門大和尚,裔本世胄,緇著齠齡。慧燄發桐山,J40nB485_p0279a26幾遭老人毒辣;法源來字水,曾經入室親承。職理有J40nB485_p0279a27年,弗讓楊岐獨步;儀清細軌,不減馬勝遺風。眾等叨J40nB485_p0279a28荷淨名,期仰止而蹤前可進;忝列同派,冀登堂而提J40nB485_p0279a29挈踰階。燈傳有賴,雨化無疆。眾等無任踴躍懽忭之J40nB485_p0279a30至。謹啟。

J40nB485_p0279b02 J40nB485_p0279b03康熙壬子四月佛誕,忠南合郡縉紳士庶四眾等請J40nB485_p0279b04師住振宗禪寺,入院上堂。拈啟云:「鳥篆蟲文,雲龍風J40nB485_p0279b05虎,裕後光前,立賓立主。如何是賓主混融一句?試道J40nB485_p0279b06看。」宣畢,師以拄杖擊法座云:「祖有祖制,佛有佛規,山J40nB485_p0279b07僧據令而行,這裡容你不得。」遂陞座。拈香祝J40nB485_p0279b08聖畢,次拈香云:「此瓣香寶聖山中得來,治平堂上拈出,J40nB485_p0279b09看來不直半文,卻也恩同海嶽,爇向爐中供養臨濟J40nB485_p0279b10正宗第二十六世慶忠鐵壁先師大和尚,用酬法乳J40nB485_p0279b11之恩。」斂衣就座。上首白椎畢,師豎拄杖云:「太阿堅、吹J40nB485_p0279b12毛利,十聖三賢莫能避,斫普賢脛、斷文殊臂,無容顧J40nB485_p0279b13後瞻前,那許沉言滯句?有麼?」僧出便喝,師便打,僧復J40nB485_p0279b14喝,師復打,僧歸眾,師連打,乃云:「迅雷風烈,擎斧豎鉞,J40nB485_p0279b15虎驟龍驤,應時及節。」喝一喝云:「還會麼?茲乃郡侯劉J40nB485_p0279b16公暨合郡縉紳士庶等不忘先師記莂之諄、托付之J40nB485_p0279b17重,特迎山野住持治平繼茲院事,即此不獨光輝法J40nB485_p0279b18門,亦且因齋慶祝。如何是慶祝的句?浴佛日,雨初晴,J40nB485_p0279b19人天皈仰,景運昇平。黃鶯囀,杜宇嚬,龍象集,水雲臻,J40nB485_p0279b20高懸鞀鐸,普洒甘霖。」喝一喝云:「雖然舊閣閑田地,一J40nB485_p0279b21度贏來一度新。」
J40nB485_p0279b22臘八,上堂。「道悟明星,曲不藏直,一恁前三後三,何妨J40nB485_p0279b23趙甲錢乙?玉兔趁金烏,推車又觸壁,誰是出頭人?為J40nB485_p0279b24汝諮端的。有麼?有麼?」眾無出,乃云:「陽九陰六,陰六陽J40nB485_p0279b25九,小往大來,逆數順數。無窮數,看看數至一年零,遶J40nB485_p0279b26屋梅花開又萎。」復豎拄杖,云:「惟有這箇不屬變遷。」卓J40nB485_p0279b27一卓,云:「在在和泥合土。既是不屬變遷,因甚和泥合J40nB485_p0279b28土?」良久,云:「一歲二春,牛頭鼠尾。」
J40nB485_p0279b29佛誕,啟華嚴會,上堂。「九龍吐水天外來,捧足金盤從J40nB485_p0279b30地至,日輪瑞應降皇宮,承斯共建無生會。如何是無J40nB485_p0279c01生一句?莫是指天指地,大口開張得麼?錯。莫是摩竭J40nB485_p0279c02提國三七思維,沒處啟口得麼?錯。莫是不離菩提而J40nB485_p0279c03揚七處九會,說理說事,權實雙行,一音演唱得麼?錯。J40nB485_p0279c04若會得這三錯,始知釋迦老漢始從光耀土,終至跋J40nB485_p0279c05陀河,于是二中間,未曾說一字。既無一字,且道這八J40nB485_p0279c06十一卷又從甚處得來?」復舉:「東印土國王請西天二J40nB485_p0279c07十七祖般若多羅齋,齋畢,王曰:『和尚何不轉經?』祖曰:J40nB485_p0279c08『貧道出息不涉眾緣,入息不居蘊界,常轉如是經百J40nB485_p0279c09千萬億卷,豈止一卷兩卷?』」師云:「祖師恁麼應答,大似J40nB485_p0279c10靈龜拽尾,拂跡成痕。殊不知既云出入,早已蘊在陰J40nB485_p0279c11界、涉在眾緣,又何常離得泥水葛藤?今日設有人問J40nB485_p0279c12山僧:『還轉得經否?』但向道:『清晨一缽粥,齋後一杯茶,J40nB485_p0279c13長伸兩腳臥,別有好生涯』。若云:『這長老恁麼道,豈不J40nB485_p0279c14違背經義?』但向道:『真金自有真金價,終不和沙賣與J40nB485_p0279c15人。』」
J40nB485_p0279c16重陽,解制,上堂。豎拂子,云:「爐鞴新開四月頭,三三兩J40nB485_p0279c17兩無空缺。不貴按豆遮晴,唯喜證龜成鱉。報諸人,休J40nB485_p0279c18間歇,本來面目看時節。且道是甚時節?」擲下拂子,云:J40nB485_p0279c19「金風催落葉,黃花燦晚秋。」
J40nB485_p0279c20臘八,上堂。驀拈拄杖云:「還見麼?昔時這日釋迦將無J40nB485_p0279c21作有,治平今日指有言空,總屬烏焉成馬,喚甕作鐘,J40nB485_p0279c22大似捏目生花,無病著灸。即今座下莫有不被瞞頇J40nB485_p0279c23者麼?如無,山僧自定當去也。己酉年,是月終,梅鬥雪,J40nB485_p0279c24霜露濃,千峰飛蛺蝶,遍界瑞盈空。開正眼,兆年豐,人J40nB485_p0279c25人及第悟心空。還識心空及第麼?」復以拄杖畫○云:J40nB485_p0279c26「夜半明星當晝朗,無端拈出又重新。」
J40nB485_p0279c27淨信表華嚴期會,請上堂。豎拄杖,云:「倒騎鐵馬入崑J40nB485_p0279c28崙,景泰時亨家國興,一日索訶開正眼,卻教枯木盡J40nB485_p0279c29同春。人天普集,選佛場開,人人懷報佛報親之心,箇J40nB485_p0279c30箇享安國安邦之福,地爐煨榾柮,濁酒慶春秋,嘉穀J40nB485_p0280a01阜豐,雨暘時若,看來色色現成,卻也般般具足,何須J40nB485_p0280a02木上座重打葛藤,更添註腳?雖然如是,功不唐捐。不J40nB485_p0280a03見華嚴會上智首菩薩問文殊師利云:『一切菩薩云J40nB485_p0280a04何得無過失身、語、意業等事?』文殊末上答以『善用其J40nB485_p0280a05心,則獲一切勝妙功德。』即如眾淨信于己酉夏開建J40nB485_p0280a06百二十日華嚴道場,結夏安期,持齋奉戒,茲又重建J40nB485_p0280a07無遮勝會,普集諸山耆德,超宗薦祖,廣利人天,仍請J40nB485_p0280a08山僧舉揚般若,得非善用其心耶?心既善用,則各各J40nB485_p0280a09成佛無疑;成佛無疑,則各各獲無量無邊殊勝功德;J40nB485_p0280a10功德獲矣,亦不見其善用之心、所成之佛;無心無佛,J40nB485_p0280a11則理無礙、事無礙、理事無礙、事事無礙,觀法界于一J40nB485_p0280a12塵之中,以一塵遍法界之外,塵塵爾、念念爾、法法爾,J40nB485_p0280a13無非普賢道場、毘盧境界。」復豎拄杖,云:「還見麼?恒沙J40nB485_p0280a14諸佛來也,在山僧拄杖頭上普為證盟,放不思議光J40nB485_p0280a15明、照不思議法界、說不思議法要、度不思議眾生、修J40nB485_p0280a16不思議因、成不思議果。果因既爾,法界眾生亦復如J40nB485_p0280a17是,更喚什麼作不思議法要?」喝一喝,云:「吼遍吼,擊遍J40nB485_p0280a18擊,鐃鈸旛幢迎聖集,不販旃檀航,拗曲還作直,貴買J40nB485_p0280a19賤賣,顛三倒四,藕絲孔裡飛大鵬,蟭螟眼中開夜市,J40nB485_p0280a20普請諸佛來臨,共賑九幽十類,都盧合掌讚揚,盡道J40nB485_p0280a21吉祥如意。」擲拄杖,下座。
J40nB485_p0280a22慶忠老人盡九四,眾請陞座。拈香畢,豎拂子,喝一喝,J40nB485_p0280a23云:「楊岐三腳驢,無端添隻角。觸碎崑崙山,踏翻海底J40nB485_p0280a24月。而今解作獅子吼,百獸聞之頭腦裂。正恁麼時,如J40nB485_p0280a25何是全體大用?」喝一喝,云:「此日恰逢九九,宇宙乾坤J40nB485_p0280a26作口。森羅萬象齊來,共揚慶忠家醜。且那箇是家醜J40nB485_p0280a27聻?憶昔先師寓白嵒時,山野同眾侍立次,先師舉良J40nB485_p0280a28久公案驗眾,山野云:『也是屋裡販楊州。』先師云:『汝等J40nB485_p0280a29諸人莫道無事好。』山野云:『和尚也是無端。』先師便掌,J40nB485_p0280a30山野便喝,先師云:『異日不得辜負老僧。』山野作禮。繼J40nB485_p0280b01隨老人過高梁,寓五雲堂。山野病起,一日呈偈云:『改J40nB485_p0280b02頭換面幾生來,此日無端眼豁開。吩付目前皮袋子,J40nB485_p0280b03從教馬腹與驢胎。』先師徵云:『那箇是你豁開眼?』山野J40nB485_p0280b04豎起拳頭。先師云:『何不放下著?』山野便放下。先師云:J40nB485_p0280b05『又在甚麼處?』山野云:『明日同大眾侍和尚金城齋。』先J40nB485_p0280b06師云:『放你三十棒。』山野珍重而出。後先師應向化侯J40nB485_p0280b07譚公請住寶聖,命山野監院。一日入方丈,先師豎起J40nB485_p0280b08拳,山野便喝。先師云:『見什麼便喝?』山野云:『無柰院事J40nB485_p0280b09甚繁。』先師遂以偈囑曰:『寶聖叢中獅子兒,十年院裡J40nB485_p0280b10布全威。于今奮迅機無畏,吼向人天自有時。』自來絡J40nB485_p0280b11索,雖是往日葛藤,莫道不相干涉。茲乃先師盡九,亦J40nB485_p0280b12非山野露醜張乖,卻與大眾應個時節。」以拄杖擊案J40nB485_p0280b13云:「騎虎頭,把虎尾。鸑鷟麒麟,龍孫鳳子。治平堂上唱J40nB485_p0280b14卷阿,錦水金鱗燒赤尾。布慈雲,洒甘雨。這回特地斬J40nB485_p0280b15新,雙徑葛藤又理。」復喝一喝。
J40nB485_p0280b16說戒,上堂。「寒風吹廣漠,嵩嶺雪齊腰,消息梅先露,節J40nB485_p0280b17候不相饒。無端著賺英靈,來此開眼作夢,竿頭進步J40nB485_p0280b18則易,平地打脫則難,不薦袈裟裹草鞋,偏取探珠宜J40nB485_p0280b19浪靜,恁麼不恁麼,非得亦非證。」驀豎拂子,云:「還委悉J40nB485_p0280b20麼?優波離尊者來也。」
J40nB485_p0280b21上元節,陳文學暨眾淨信建千佛道場,請上堂。「直饒J40nB485_p0280b22將虛空作口、草木微塵作舌,說得大千粉碎、佛祖結J40nB485_p0280b23舌,依然巴水向東流、南辰朝北闕。不見長沙岑和尚J40nB485_p0280b24一日閱《千佛名經》,時張拙相公問曰:『千佛名在這裡,J40nB485_p0280b25未審千佛在甚麼處說法?』岑云:『黃鶴樓詩崔灝題過,J40nB485_p0280b26相公題也未?』拙云:『不曾。』岑曰:『得閒題一首好。』」師云:「岑J40nB485_p0280b27公舍近圖遠,張拙當面熱瞞,不惟累及崔公,更要點J40nB485_p0280b28污千佛。雖然如是,怎柰蟻從羶處聚、蠅逐臭邊飛,不J40nB485_p0280b29因黃鶴韻鏗鏘,那討千佛說法處?即如今日一會,千J40nB485_p0280b30佛名總在這裡,未審千佛又向甚處說法?」良久,顧視J40nB485_p0280c01左右,云:「元宵佳節頻歌舞,處處咸然無盡燈。」
J40nB485_p0280c02康熙乙卯仲冬朔日,忠南眾淨信請師住桐柏山曇J40nB485_p0280c03華禪院。上堂,拈香云:「這瓣香,咸寧萬國,鎮靜八荒,尊J40nB485_p0280c04貴本自天然,磬蔚不從地得,或調玉燭,或佐金湯,爇J40nB485_p0280c05向爐中,奉祝J40nB485_p0280c06當今皇帝萬歲、J40nB485_p0280c07太子千秋,文武宰官、郡主、檀越、紳衿、護法等,伏願主J40nB485_p0280c08聖臣良,雨順風調宣至化,民安物阜,含哺鼓腹樂周J40nB485_p0280c09年。這瓣香,無量劫前種就,六度萬行栽培,經劫火而J40nB485_p0280c10不燒,歷烽煙而不變,爇向爐中,供養治平堂上圓寂J40nB485_p0280c11先師慶忠鐵壁大和尚,用酬法乳之恩,伏願旃檀林J40nB485_p0280c12枝枝鬱秀,柳谿月在在輝光。」維那白椎畢,師云:「九夏J40nB485_p0280c13三冬去即來,一陽初復法筵開,天心既見無容隱,好J40nB485_p0280c14把機關仔細裁。」喝一喝,良久乃云:「非是無人酬酢,因J40nB485_p0280c15有庭竹當機,不獨清風高節,兼引鳴鳳來儀。這裡薦J40nB485_p0280c16得,始信無情說法、最上玄機,那堪線去絲來、百拈巧J40nB485_p0280c17弄?不見臨濟纔入僧堂,首座會得第一句;世尊方據J40nB485_p0280c18座,外道讚謝而行。此是師家本分,提持平常心地,至J40nB485_p0280c19于入室操戈、機鋒問答,皆是接物利生之方,未是宗J40nB485_p0280c20乘極則。如何是宗乘極則?茲乃國運重新之際,一境J40nB485_p0280c21叨荷無虞,眾淨信均感聖恩,安期護眾,保境祈豐,特J40nB485_p0280c22請山野舉揚法化,山野不負肫懇,只得因齋慶祝。如J40nB485_p0280c23何慶祝一句?」擲下拄杖云:「但願四方戎馬息,普天率J40nB485_p0280c24土賀昇平。」結椎,下座。
J40nB485_p0280c25臘八日,說戒,上堂。「雪積高山,霜鋪平地,明明百艸頭,J40nB485_p0280c26歷歷祖師意。何勞繩自縛?空負沙揀金。黃面睹星悟J40nB485_p0280c27道,都云夢眼空花;神光斷臂雪腰,總是伎窮力極。怎J40nB485_p0280c28如桐山這裡渴飲饑餐、勤眠熱覺?以日月兩輪為衣J40nB485_p0280c29珠,以古往今來為定限,以草木微塵為偈咒,以盡十J40nB485_p0280c30方世界為袈裟臥具,亦任諸大德入乎其中、出乎其J40nB485_p0281a01外,不持而持、不受而受,說甚三千威儀、八萬細行?這J40nB485_p0281a02裡薦得,始信高沙彌不登戒壇;其或未然,待拄杖子J40nB485_p0281a03再與通箇消息。」卓一卓,遂說戒。
J40nB485_p0281a04解制,上堂。僧問:「若人欲識佛境界,當淨其意如虛空。J40nB485_p0281a05虛空且置,如何是佛境界?」師云:「天高地厚。」進云:「猶是J40nB485_p0281a06聲色活計。」師便打,乃云:「九九八十一,看看今日畢,向J40nB485_p0281a07下事如何?年年向此夕,解開布袋口,畜生驢馬走,踏J40nB485_p0281a08過上頭關,遍地獅兒吼。所以道:盡大地是箇禪床,盡J40nB485_p0281a09大地是沙門一隻眼,盡大地是個話頭,盡大地是供J40nB485_p0281a10養。以如是人坐如是床,以如是人具如是眼,以如是J40nB485_p0281a11人參如是話頭,以如是人受如是供養,綿綿密密,昂J40nB485_p0281a12昂藏藏,東湧西沒,南湧北沒,中湧邊沒,高堅前後,仰J40nB485_p0281a13瞻鑽忽,不解而解,不結而結,如是而解,如是而結,十J40nB485_p0281a14方薄伽梵,一路涅槃門。」喝一喝,云:「還會麼?茲乃九十J40nB485_p0281a15日禪期方畢,眾淨信積悃既中,加功宜表。到這裡,山J40nB485_p0281a16野無可為說,但向道箇福無量、壽無量、因無量、果無J40nB485_p0281a17量、功勛無量、記莂無量、無量無量、不可說不可說,我J40nB485_p0281a18等與眾生,皆共成佛道。」卓一卓。
J40nB485_p0281a19建千佛道場,請陞座。師云:「出隊逢殘臘,攜笻入遠村,J40nB485_p0281a20誰家伶利子,相共話知音?」開明居士出,畫一圓相,師J40nB485_p0281a21便喝,士于圓相中一點,師復喝,士拂袖歸眾,師云:「不J40nB485_p0281a22是知音,徒呈伎倆。」乃云:「此日逢法席,千聖齊雲集,消J40nB485_p0281a23息是誰傳?嶺梅香噴鼻,莫昧好良因,大家齊著力。」復J40nB485_p0281a24豎掌云:「還見麼?」遂撫案云:「還聞麼?若也共見共聞,則J40nB485_p0281a25此番功不浪施;其或未然,山僧不惜兩莖眉,更與重J40nB485_p0281a26下註腳。昔廣額屠兒于世尊涅槃會上擲下屠刀,便J40nB485_p0281a27云:『我是千佛一數。』世尊便授記。今辰乃玉乾黎善士J40nB485_p0281a28建千佛道場,賑幽布福,看來卻與世尊涅槃一會不J40nB485_p0281a29別,是中若男若女、乃僧乃俗,各各所稟智慧刀惟恐J40nB485_p0281a30不肯放下,若肯放下,則人人千佛、個個屠兒,舉足下J40nB485_p0281b01足總皆增勝福田,出有入無盡是屠兒應跡。山僧恁J40nB485_p0281b02麼舉似,會中設有個旁不肯的出來道:『佛之一字,吾J40nB485_p0281b03不喜聞。』山僧只得無言可對。如無,還須把本宣科,依J40nB485_p0281b04儀作範,他年優缽花開日,果證同歸功德林。」復喝一J40nB485_p0281b05喝。
J40nB485_p0281b06輝衢黎居士薦親禮千佛懺,請陞座。僧問:「凡聖交參,J40nB485_p0281b07龍蛇混雜。龍蛇混雜即不問,凡聖交參事若何?」師云:J40nB485_p0281b08「這裡那容說凡說聖?」僧便喝,師便打。問:「如何是清淨J40nB485_p0281b09法身?」師豎拄杖。「如何是圓滿報身?」師以拄杖畫圓相。J40nB485_p0281b10「如何是三類化身?」師于圓相畫十字。僧歸眾,師乃云:J40nB485_p0281b11「問三身,答最親。歷歷明明,非佛非生。人天交感,千聖J40nB485_p0281b12雲臻。摩頂授記,滿願隨心。而康而壽,乃福乃榮。這裡J40nB485_p0281b13猶有一句未道,且道是那一句?」喝一喝,云:「大好報本J40nB485_p0281b14追親。」
普說
J40nB485_p0281b16初夏普說。師云:「一年將過半,今夜重打筭,陽極始陰J40nB485_p0281b17生,流光急如箭。若肯究時節,何須重判斷?試問諸人:J40nB485_p0281b18還著忙也未?不見古德云:『三分光陰二已過,靈臺一J40nB485_p0281b19點不措磨,歲月不知何處去,喚不回頭爭柰何?』且道:J40nB485_p0281b20喚甚麼作靈臺一點?莫是開眼、合眼麼?莫是晝明夜J40nB485_p0281b21暗、日往月來麼?莫是鵲噪鴉鳴、見聞知覺?莫是春云J40nB485_p0281b22夏來、陽消陰長麼?若于開眼合眼、晝明夜暗、日往月J40nB485_p0281b23來處著,亦是逐色違聲漢;若于鵲噪鴉鳴、見聞知覺J40nB485_p0281b24處著,亦是揚聲止響漢;若于消長盈虛、往來順逆處J40nB485_p0281b25著,亦是逐境隨流漢。若執此,果然喚不回頭;捨此,卻J40nB485_p0281b26又當面錯過。若是明眼漢,如杲日當空、明珠在握,開J40nB485_p0281b27眼也得、合眼也得、晝明夜暗也得、日往月來也得,鵲J40nB485_p0281b28噪鴉鳴、見聞知覺、春去夏來、秋去冬來總得,辟如天J40nB485_p0281b29地無不持載、無不覆幬,更說甚麼靈臺一點、二分三J40nB485_p0281b30分?細則入于微塵、廣則包于沙界,無一物不具、無一J40nB485_p0281c01處不遍,小德川流、大德敦化,到這裡間不容髮。倘如J40nB485_p0281c02思前筭後、得失是非,不唯錯過目前時節,只饒從威J40nB485_p0281c03音王已前展轉至樓、至佛已後,也不得這一點的受J40nB485_p0281c04用。試問大眾:且道是那一點?」驀豎拂子,云:「還委悉麼?J40nB485_p0281c05能為萬象主,不逐四時凋。」

J40nB485_p0281c28多見做工夫,每向蒲團浸殺死,水裡藏身,忽遇浪鼓J40nB485_p0281c29滄溟,雨風大作,卻遏捺不住,雙睜兩眼,似無舵之舟,J40nB485_p0281c30隨風浪飄沉于東西南北,何常得穩載不搖的工夫?J40nB485_p0282a01若是鐵艄公,把得定、作得主,縱臨洪波浩渺之際,便J40nB485_p0282a02能輕輕拽轉舵來,不覺霎時急流已過,方稱越格丈J40nB485_p0282a03夫,湖海傑士。若一向死守遼城,何時得出頭天外?J40nB485_p0282a04悟一禪人知有此段大事,得得入山,一見便覶縷于J40nB485_p0282a05他處,記憶得的,備陳山野。山野知他誤入假銀城,示J40nB485_p0282a06以趙州無字令參。須知這無字如大火聚,無論山林J40nB485_p0282a07樹木,但有形質者,觸著便燒,燒到無可燒處,灰飛煙J40nB485_p0282a08滅,人我俱空。忽猛省來,略與己事有少分相應。既得J40nB485_p0282a09相應,不可得少為足,若得少為足,便向中途退墮,若J40nB485_p0282a10中途退墮,則不能到家。若得到家,方知佛云:治生產J40nB485_p0282a11業,皆順正法。若未如是,徒記空言,以資談柄,于己何J40nB485_p0282a12益?禪人勉之。
J40nB485_p0282a13諦觀象季學者,多是衒虛名、圖利養,身在叢林、心趨J40nB485_p0282a14異域,此法席未終,彼妄念復起,逐日朝東暮西、奔南J40nB485_p0282a15走北,那有半點參學實落念頭?正如做虛圈套人上J40nB485_p0282a16街,身無百錢,卻去張舖標名、李舖顯字,其實囊底空J40nB485_p0282a17虛、腰間空乏。又有一種學得口頭禪幾句,設有人問,J40nB485_p0282a18他也扯草湊籃、答語作頌,殊不知總屬虛頭。更有一J40nB485_p0282a19種身威儀而心挾雜,不唯名利不除,而且餘習未盡,J40nB485_p0282a20到處誇經紀、闡才能。如此等類,欲學菩提終莫能得。J40nB485_p0282a21既欲力究此事,先須立定腳跟,將從前雜毒打屏淨J40nB485_p0282a22盡,單提本參話頭,無論積年累月、朝參暮參、行參坐J40nB485_p0282a23參,到無可參處,忽然翻轉面門,運出自己家珍,一任J40nB485_p0282a24利人利物、報佛報親,有時轉山河大地歸自己、有時J40nB485_p0282a25轉自己歸山河大地,南北東西、人間天上,言為則、行J40nB485_p0282a26為法,光顯祖庭、經紀後世,始不負出家之志。如一向J40nB485_p0282a27冒名虛誑、門外之遶,不惟彌勒下生沒柰爾何,直饒J40nB485_p0282a28千佛出興亦無如之何也。

J40nB485_p0282a30欲究此事,不須向外別求,須從本領透出唯字,始知J40nB485_p0282b01金色破顏微笑,阿難倒卻剎竿,曾子守約,顏子屢空,J40nB485_p0282b02乃至執中之旨,精一之妙,總不出這唯字。只這唯字,J40nB485_p0282b03包四維、廓上下,在聖不增、處凡不減,不即不離、非縛J40nB485_p0282b04非脫。但恐不究唯字之旨趣,于唯字下躲根,不惟辜J40nB485_p0282b05負古人,亦乃錯過自己。自己既錯過,則日用二六時J40nB485_p0282b06中,應機接物,皆屬杳茫。既屬杳茫,則無捉摸。既無捉J40nB485_p0282b07摸,則心無所歸。既無所歸,如緊水葫蘆,抽韁野馬,擬J40nB485_p0282b08欲追尋,遠之遠也。不見僧問古德:「萬法歸一,一歸何J40nB485_p0282b09處?」德云:「我在青州作領布衫,重七斤。」若萬法既歸,一J40nB485_p0282b10貫豁然。唯字既明,布衫不別。到這裡,猶是借路還家,J40nB485_p0282b11假舟到岸的方便。倘他日見得分明,徹底透過,只這J40nB485_p0282b12唯字,亦是註腳。時因鎮九張居士歸京,持冊請開示,J40nB485_p0282b13山野以唯唯號之,不覺叨叨呾呾。
機緣
J40nB485_p0282b15師住聚雲,時縣尹湯公至,問:「如何是三寶?」師豎指請J40nB485_p0282b16鑑。公云:「此是據實問。」師云:「山野亦是據實答。」公復問:J40nB485_p0282b17「令師與破山和尚俱皆用棒。」師云:「莫謗家師好。」公曰:J40nB485_p0282b18「何以故?」師云:「家師有時用,有時不用。」公曰:「有等禪師J40nB485_p0282b19常用如何?」師曰:「若常用則非也。」公曰:「令師既不常用,J40nB485_p0282b20將何接物利生?」師云:「或乘獅子,或駕象王,逢強即弱,J40nB485_p0282b21遇柔則剛。」公曰:「此義幽深。」遂作辭而去。
J40nB485_p0282b22僧問:「如何是法身?」師曰:「苦竹夾籬笆。」僧云:「法身如何J40nB485_p0282b23透?」師云:「鑽進又鑽出。」
J40nB485_p0282b24僧參,師令參不是心、不是佛、不是物,僧呈頌云:「青寥J40nB485_p0282b25寥,白滴滴,左右逢源如杲日,何須覿面更端的?」師徵J40nB485_p0282b26云:「還端的也無?」僧擬議,師便打。
J40nB485_p0282b27僧問:「如何是金剛不壞身?」師以火箸插爐心,「會麼?」僧J40nB485_p0282b28沉吟,師拔火箸便打。
J40nB485_p0282b29僧問:「如何是十八女子不繫裙?」師拈榾柮示之。
J40nB485_p0282b30僧問:「盡大地是普門,學人從甚處入?」師云:「汝適從甚J40nB485_p0282c01處來?」僧云:「看經。」師云:「更覓入處那?」僧禮拜,師便掌。
J40nB485_p0282c02僧問:「如何是無位真人?」師云:「張公喫酒李公醉。」
J40nB485_p0282c03僧問:「南泉斬貓,趙州頂草鞋出,意作麼生?」師云:「九九J40nB485_p0282c04盡後又逢春。」
J40nB485_p0282c05衡山和尚問:「佛身充滿于法界,普現一切群生前,隨J40nB485_p0282c06緣赴感靡不周,而恒處此菩提座。因甚一切眾生不J40nB485_p0282c07見佛?」師云:「用見作麼?」
J40nB485_p0282c08僧問:「說的是法,不說時還有佛法也無?」師云:「粉團花。」J40nB485_p0282c09僧請益,師書了字示之,僧拂袖便出。師云:「傷弓之鳥,J40nB485_p0282c10見曲木而高飛。」
J40nB485_p0282c11師因托缽入城,有僧問:「鐘未響,鼓未鳴,托缽向甚處J40nB485_p0282c12去?」師云:「今日劉施主有齋。」
