J34nB311_p0677c06師到雞鳴寺,值無隱法師講《法華經》,遇支提待興、長J34nB311_p0677c07干優曇、無方邀與法師相會,談及從壽昌來歷,優曇J34nB311_p0677c08曰:「秪如我法主師適談娑竭龍女呈珠立地,即得轉J34nB311_p0677c09身成大丈夫相,向南方無垢世界成佛,此與參禪頓J34nB311_p0677c10悟旨趣何異?」師笑而彈指曰:「遮箇轉向何處去也?」眾J34nB311_p0677c11默然。師曰:「須知此中發起機用卻自不同。何則?凡大J34nB311_p0677c12經教多以表法喻其密旨,此龍女表八識心王之業J34nB311_p0677c13識,一念能迴光,破其覺明幽室之見,則不墮三細六J34nB311_p0677c14麤,統於心王心所無明,覆陰立地,出纏離隱,捨此閨J34nB311_p0677c15閤中物,如轉女成男,向離明而成大丈夫,證此圓明J34nB311_p0677c16玅覺也。雖然,此猶是教乘義學,非是宗門覿面全提,J34nB311_p0677c17不涉比況也。」曇曰:「如此拈提,已非諸解所及矣。」師曰:J34nB311_p0677c18「可不是。秪如鳥窠因侍者辭,要諸方學佛法去,窠曰:J34nB311_p0677c19『欲學佛法,我遮裏也有些。』乃於衲衣上拈取布毛吹J34nB311_p0677c20一吹,侍者直下頓悟。遮箇是甚佛法?又何待設喻乎?J34nB311_p0677c21又如僧參大隨,見巖下有一龜,此僧便問:『一切眾生J34nB311_p0677c22皮包骨,如何遮箇眾生骨包皮?』此僧是何眼孔,便能J34nB311_p0677c23置箇問頭?不妨如大火聚、如鐵崑崙。我問你:此是彌J34nB311_p0677c24勒所能騰疑乎?文殊所能決旨乎?舍利弗所能啟請J34nB311_p0677c25乎?試使黃面瞿曇透出眉間白毫,也未易照破在。請J34nB311_p0677c26世尊下一轉語打發他看,大隨不妨通身手眼,且有J34nB311_p0677c27東海探驪頷、西山擒白額底作略,輕輕地拈一艸鞋J34nB311_p0677c28覆在龜上,使此僧如八臂那吒,到此無可奈何也。豈J34nB311_p0677c29不是銀山鐵壁從空墮,曠劫無明直下灰哉?到遮裏J34nB311_p0677c30更須有轉身出路始得,還是作女人拜好?撫掌大笑J34nB311_p0678a01好?還是進云起動和尚好?噫!好知荊棘林中下腳易,J34nB311_p0678a02月明簾外轉身難也。不然,世尊談經三百餘會,末後J34nB311_p0678a03又要拈花傳甚不立文字正法眼藏與迦葉。阿難多J34nB311_p0678a04聞總持為靈山第一人,世尊說法如水傳器,到了教J34nB311_p0678a05外別傳,如何茫然無措?乃因迦葉呼來倒卻門前剎J34nB311_p0678a06竿一語,始悟向上關捩子,以傳此秘密法門為西天J34nB311_p0678a07第二祖也。此豈佛祖欺人哉?」隱法師爽然自失,又復J34nB311_p0678a08勃然自喜曰:「我輩皆當如焚去疏鈔者,從覺師參此J34nB311_p0678a09真悟道禪也。向來我亦曾見有從少林來提唱宗門J34nB311_p0678a10事,與我談經何異?不足以服我心。聞如此話不服者,J34nB311_p0678a11真自暴自欺,真佛法邊外人也。」乃曰:「待興諸公,我等J34nB311_p0678a12皆當禮拜,非等閒與人拜也。」
J34nB311_p0678a13師因待興與雞鳴住持一心師,請於懶融塔上靜室J34nB311_p0678a14度歲,每與隱法師盤錯宗教中事甚快。時戊午元旦,J34nB311_p0678a15住持請齋,與法師分席於大禪堂會茶,師云:「當日賓J34nB311_p0678a16頭盧尊者應天竺國王齋,乃以手策起眉毛曰:『我昔J34nB311_p0678a17於龍光佛時亦曾預會。』且道遮箇拈提是何宗旨?還J34nB311_p0678a18與世尊眉間白毫照見東方萬八千世界底義是同J34nB311_p0678a19是別?惜乎彼時無當機者,未免為風吹別調去也。今J34nB311_p0678a20日山僧與法主同此法席,不用彈指、不展眉毛,還有J34nB311_p0678a21見多寶塔如大雷震開、見二如來分座說法者麼?此J34nB311_p0678a22不是自已誇張吾宗門舉唱,直教三世諸佛齊立下J34nB311_p0678a23風不為分外,況與之比較乎?去年內下雪已十日,飄J34nB311_p0678a24白半堂、積滿丹墀,行人與學者擁塑彌勒、獅子、象王J34nB311_p0678a25踞於庭前,師顧眾云:仰山嘗指雪獅子云:『曾有過此J34nB311_p0678a26色者麼?』雲門後聞云:『當時好與他推倒。』雪竇云:『雲門J34nB311_p0678a27只解推倒,不解扶起。』且看此三老逼拶箇甚麼事?若J34nB311_p0678a28不知他拈提底意,卻於一色與過一色、推倒與扶起J34nB311_p0678a29上敲擊,不免打入鬼家活計,何處能殺人活人出於J34nB311_p0678a30情見之外?此處最能換卻人心眼,設使彌勒、文殊、普J34nB311_p0678b01賢到此,恐無出頭分也。將謂以片片不落別處,拈起J34nB311_p0678b02雪團便打,是為得手,殊不知正是老老大大被人語J34nB311_p0678b03脈轉卻也。山僧最喜玉泉皓布褌,因下雪示眾云:『今J34nB311_p0678b04年無端十一月下雪,但教他下到十二月,明年正月J34nB311_p0678b05從頭起,下到二月、三月、四月、五月、六月、七月、八月、九J34nB311_p0678b06月、十月,直下到十一月,使他大地人盡凍死餓死,免J34nB311_p0678b07得胡說亂說。』不知者以皓布褌為胡說亂說,又誰知J34nB311_p0678b08別有鋒機,尋常莫測?此非聖凡蕩盡、大用現前,如何J34nB311_p0678b09敢開此口、拈此語?直是靈山、少室不能過此,要且破J34nB311_p0678b10格人別有超佛超祖手眼,始能以毒攻毒也。大家照J34nB311_p0678b11顧看,莫教旁觀者眉鬚墮落也。」
J34nB311_p0678b12莆田蔡心玄唱龍江林公三教於南都,請師與福州J34nB311_p0678b13陳達泉、茅山王知白於朝天宮為母慶壽。師顧左右J34nB311_p0678b14云:「東拜東皇公,西拜西王母,秪如蟠桃三千年開花、J34nB311_p0678b15三千年結實即不問,且道遮箇桃核種子從何處來J34nB311_p0678b16底?」知白曰:「此先天造化根也。」達泉曰:「此儒宗天命之J34nB311_p0678b17謂性也。」心玄曰:「此禪宗本來面目也。」師顧待興、了玄J34nB311_p0678b18曰:「二公說看。」待興曰:「我道不得。」了玄曰:「推與別人不J34nB311_p0678b19是。」師曰:「玄公試道看。」玄曰:「此三教同源底物。」師云:「只J34nB311_p0678b20今源在那裏?」玄曰:「就在遮裏。」師云:「掀倒此座子時如J34nB311_p0678b21何?」玄曰:「遮又是禪家作用也。」師云:「莫謗禪家好。」玄曰:J34nB311_p0678b22「我正是讚禪也。」師云:「你如何被人語脈轉卻?」知白曰:J34nB311_p0678b23「大師將此核子慶壽看。」師云:「諸公被蔡母一口咬得J34nB311_p0678b24百雜碎,且已向十洲三島上撫掌打呵呵也,還在遮J34nB311_p0678b25裏討甚麼碗?」達泉笑曰:「知白老此回藉大師指引,可J34nB311_p0678b26直到武夷三十六峰去也。」師云:「大王峰頂有天鑑池,J34nB311_p0678b27十三仙嘗在彼照面孔,一回照則一回慚愧。」知白曰:J34nB311_p0678b28「為甚慚愧?」師曰:「他謂我神仙家,只奈打不破遮箇光J34nB311_p0678b29影子。」知白曰:「大師無乃打趣我輩做全真道人也。」師J34nB311_p0678b30曰:「公又作打趣會在。」達泉曰:「不作打趣會,則大師不J34nB311_p0678c01發奇論也。」師云:「公是箇老賊,卻做三教門下智過於J34nB311_p0678c02師底漢子也。」泉曰:「又來打趣愚老。」師云:「敬老得老,敬J34nB311_p0678c03才得寶,公老而且才是天下寶也。今有此寶,不可以J34nB311_p0678c04為蔡母壽乎?」眾大笑,因拈一偈曰:「八十風光花鳥度,J34nB311_p0678c05阿娘應未鬢毛斑,華筵高侶翩翩集,笑指崑崙作壽J34nB311_p0678c06山。」蔡公乃禮謝。
J34nB311_p0678c07朝天宮王知白設供,請於缽堂隨喜道藏,因問曰:「我J34nB311_p0678c08見諸禪家多輕我全真,獨見大師三教並稱,使人無J34nB311_p0678c09不心服。一等謂我道藏是竊佛藏而作,故語多類佛J34nB311_p0678c10經,此豈能使人信乎?」師曰:「然,此必不信也。山僧敝鄉J34nB311_p0678c11有大老講道學者,亦言我佛藏是彼漢儒作底,何曾J34nB311_p0678c12真有佛來?予笑曰:如漢儒能作佛經,又能使汝儒家J34nB311_p0678c13諸大名公皈依參悟,超於羲、黃、堯、孔,則是汝青出於J34nB311_p0678c14藍,皈依佛即皈依儒,又何必闢之?如漢儒偽造佛經J34nB311_p0678c15以駕於儒教,使儒捨羲、黃、堯、孔而皈佛,是汝儒自叛J34nB311_p0678c16儒,如獅子身中生蟲,自食獅子身上肉。汝今闢佛,亦J34nB311_p0678c17是闢儒,何處有佛到汝闢哉?若是果有佛,但不如汝J34nB311_p0678c18儒教,則汝當實實闢佛藏經底邪偽處,乃顯真儒能J34nB311_p0678c19闢邪佛也。既不能闢,又為佛所收拾,則亦是汝儒自J34nB311_p0678c20叛其儒,只當闢叛儒者,何必闢佛?如隋朝有宮觀,中J34nB311_p0678c21畫老子騎青牛,出函關,涉流沙,化胡作佛圖,與化胡J34nB311_p0678c22成佛經。時宰相楊素見之,笑曰:『何不化胡成道?若化J34nB311_p0678c23胡成佛,則是化道成佛也。』此作者自誤也。又張商英J34nB311_p0678c24入寺,見佛藏莊嚴,恨孔氏之教不如胡人奉佛之尊,J34nB311_p0678c25而中國儒者亦乃叛儒崇佛,乃忿歸,徹夜不睡,作《無J34nB311_p0678c26佛論》。彼夫人向氏問其故,乃曰:『既云無佛,何論之有?J34nB311_p0678c27必須作有佛論,方可論也。要作有佛論,必須熟讀佛J34nB311_p0678c28經,知其出處根源之邪偽,則能闢之。若只皮毛上闢,J34nB311_p0678c29何如韓愈上佛骨表闢佛?不過自取貶抑,轉使佛教J34nB311_p0678c30大興於唐。』今無論道藏果竊佛經否,如佛氏人假作J34nB311_p0679a01道士竊佛,是佛氏欲以佛義充入道教,使道暗暗化J34nB311_p0679a02為佛,以真獅子乳滴入驢乳,以真丹充入假藥,不反J34nB311_p0679a03奇乎?惟恐只竊得皮毛糠秕,不得骨髓精醇也。使道J34nB311_p0679a04教果有超佛之玅,則道教之真金肯混汞銀與假藥J34nB311_p0679a05自亂之哉?此又是道自叛道,與不能守道藏之真,為J34nB311_p0679a06佛氏篡入而化道為佛也。使道教果有真人如佛教,J34nB311_p0679a07誰能破滅?又誰能混亂哉?」知白諸公大喜曰:「此千古J34nB311_p0679a08至公至奇論,玅絕如此,則三教誰能混哉?請問佛教J34nB311_p0679a09之宗旨果與道教合否?」師曰:「大悲菩薩甕裏坐。」曰:「莫J34nB311_p0679a10是別有同異乎?」師曰:「道士酩酊捧漏卮。」曰:「此我輩皆J34nB311_p0679a11不曉。」師曰:「參透此二語,不特三教,即大千法界、九流J34nB311_p0679a12百家皆透徹也。」道士大喜而謝。
J34nB311_p0679a13興善寺印吾公請齋,有劉公者,談及京師曾見壽昌J34nB311_p0679a14和尚與元華大衲頭者,取法名道隆,並談及大衲頭J34nB311_p0679a15於少林打殺狐狸精話。時十八大司禮皆懇祈老和J34nB311_p0679a16尚在京,獨大衲頭不肯,以彼曾誓送和尚回寶方,不J34nB311_p0679a17敢違也。當時多求老和尚開示,亦多教人念佛或持J34nB311_p0679a18咒。有根性者參萬法歸一、庭前柏樹子話,問其得悟J34nB311_p0679a19因由,曰:「曾參大好山,我等不能領略。今遇大師,則如J34nB311_p0679a20見老和尚也,幸為我方便開示。」師曰:「公既見老和尚J34nB311_p0679a21幾年,何不勇奮如此,當自求方便乎?不見公云:大衲J34nB311_p0679a22頭打殺狐狸精,他有何術?只是氣雄心正。彼少室許J34nB311_p0679a23多禪師,如何卻自畏避?而世間人見有妖怪惑亂人J34nB311_p0679a24家,便自作主不得,要往龍虎山告狀,求張天師發符J34nB311_p0679a25遣將去捉獲他,此便是自己氣弱不勝而求人也。今J34nB311_p0679a26念佛持咒,參話頭不得力,多昏沉散亂,去求人方便,J34nB311_p0679a27是何異無奈你狐狸精何去告狀求捉獲哉?」公曰:「念J34nB311_p0679a28佛持咒者多人,皆言不如參禪持話頭,何也?」曰:「不然。J34nB311_p0679a29只以公輩靠著佛咒,無憤然求透悟之心,自埋陷也。J34nB311_p0679a30參禪人以立地欲求勘破古人言句,超悟生死性命J34nB311_p0679b01之心肯切也。使不肯切,何異念佛持咒之因循乎?此J34nB311_p0679b02無他,只看人急切不急切。如敵勝怨,乃可為勇;如殺J34nB311_p0679b03父母妻子之讎,肯自一念不痛憤乎?痛憤即是疑情,J34nB311_p0679b04肯切即是話頭。使無痛憤肯切,則求救於張天師,符J34nB311_p0679b05亦不靈,將亦不猛,敵亦不可破,怪亦不可獲也。凡作J34nB311_p0679b06巫師弄鬼妖之人,亦必認真痛切則靈。汝不認真痛J34nB311_p0679b07切,則天下萬事皆不成就,況欲斷萬劫疑根,而可不J34nB311_p0679b08發大勇猛哉?」諸公大喜,禮拜曰:「此世出世法,皆藉此J34nB311_p0679b09得一直指痛快也。」
J34nB311_p0679b10焦弱侯太史請到園中,因問:「聞師親見壽昌,有何言J34nB311_p0679b11句?請舉似大眾。」師曰:「過時茶飯不堪奉人。」公曰:「不必J34nB311_p0679b12吝教,以示未聞。」師曰:「電光不可追矣。」公曰:「師之所得J34nB311_p0679b13豈無據乎?」師曰:「覿面不曾藏,何勞標月指?」公良久,顧J34nB311_p0679b14眾曰:「大似現成句語一般。」師曰:「可煞太新鮮,諸公不J34nB311_p0679b15領略耳。」公拱手曰:「原來是箇作家。」師曰:「也不消得。」公J34nB311_p0679b16更論及參究工夫事,師曰:「秪如我喫粥已腹饑了,公J34nB311_p0679b17教我作甚麼參究即好?」公大笑曰:「快討點心來。」師曰:J34nB311_p0679b18「諸公有甚禪參不透?有甚生死了不得?正好向遮裏J34nB311_p0679b19參、遮裏了,回頭轉腦論教求宗,敢保鐘山倒卓未夢J34nB311_p0679b20見在。」公大喜曰:「我前日見瑞龍璋公上堂語有箇快J34nB311_p0679b21處,今日得師亦可以作一印證也。」
J34nB311_p0679b22吳遠菴問曰:「李卓老與大師同鄉,此公見地著作何J34nB311_p0679b23如?」師曰:「此公與焦老先生最知己,何用問我?」焦公曰:J34nB311_p0679b24「師試斷其人品看。」師曰:「情人眼裏有西施。」焦曰:「此又J34nB311_p0679b25是一往論也。」師云:「如焚書藏書,真有足以敲枷打鎖,J34nB311_p0679b26以毒攻毒,令人心眼俱快。然其為人,卻虛懷肯心下J34nB311_p0679b27人,但彼頭上無人,才力不勝過彼,不免英雄欺人,有J34nB311_p0679b28強辭奪正理處,自行胸臆,以快其憤所欲言,不顧人J34nB311_p0679b29之諱忌,此所以謂之文章中大豪俠也。至於入堯孔J34nB311_p0679b30之道,則負氣魄,多傷中和之致,使孟子見理不真,任J34nB311_p0679c01道不力,則亦流為戰國之習,如視大人則藐之,舍館J34nB311_p0679c02定然後見長者乎?如此皆氣魄用事也。」焦公大快曰:J34nB311_p0679c03「玅絕形容得活卓老出,說到自行胸臆,又能虛心下J34nB311_p0679c04人,此是人所不及處。」又問:「師所見壽昌何如人?」師云:J34nB311_p0679c05「此當求之古人,看其無師智、自然智,自能悟道。又能J34nB311_p0679c06於曠絕無對待時,創立古祖風規,其提唱宗風之渾J34nB311_p0679c07雄高古,即六祖、南泉亦不多讓。其為人本色,操履孤J34nB311_p0679c08峻,雖百丈、地藏不能過之。平生不肯輕許一人,獨有J34nB311_p0679c09博山、東苑二人,是其爐鎚下躍出之利器,方今海內J34nB311_p0679c10無人能彷彿也。」焦曰:「師承嗣壽昌麼?」師曰:「山僧初參J34nB311_p0679c11博山受具,次見東苑投機,再見壽昌為之印契,此來J34nB311_p0679c12源則祖孫相承也。」焦曰:「今見師,亦可見壽昌之風範J34nB311_p0679c13矣。昨承惠壽昌語錄稿高極,聞欲得一序發刻,當候J34nB311_p0679c14數日,周海門先生到,約與師一談,當有太機緣,得其J34nB311_p0679c15手筆,一序尤玅。周公是此宗明眼,如老朽於此未有J34nB311_p0679c16所窺也。」師曰:「老先生太謙,候周公來,互為酬唱尤玅。J34nB311_p0679c17前曾見聖學宗傳,此真千古不可少之書,尚有一二J34nB311_p0679c18品題語,當請正之。」焦曰:「如此,則又使聖宗增一番奇J34nB311_p0679c19特也。」
J34nB311_p0679c20何皇房曰:「聞大師有大易宗旨,幸大略舉之。」師曰:「昨J34nB311_p0679c21偶與吳伯元、季爾康諸君解易字。」焦公曰:「易字解者J34nB311_p0679c22甚多,不知師解如何?」師云:「易者,時也,時時皆變易。六J34nB311_p0679c23十四卦,三百八十四爻,無非此時之易也。易而能中,J34nB311_p0679c24中而能時,則可以建中立極,與天地萬物正性命矣。J34nB311_p0679c25又易有七義:一曰移易,如初爻移二爻,二爻移三爻J34nB311_p0679c26是也;二曰交易,奇與偶交,水與火交,金與木交,二爻J34nB311_p0679c27與三爻交之類;三曰反易,如上卦反為下卦,下卦反J34nB311_p0679c28為上卦;四曰變易,如八卦抽爻,互換成象;五曰翻易,J34nB311_p0679c29六爻盡翻,乾翻為坤,坎翻為離;六曰各易,六爻各各J34nB311_p0679c30自相翻易,無窮者也;七曰不易,則千變萬化,不能易J34nB311_p0680a01此一奇一偶,一奇一偶不能易此一畫,正是不易而J34nB311_p0680a02易之不易也。若是凡夫百姓,為心境所易於生死吉J34nB311_p0680a03凶,而不能於天命流行而不易,故無有安立性命身J34nB311_p0680a04世之道。如今人為水者,纔移到火裏,水火便激變也,J34nB311_p0680a05何能金木水火土與八卦交相變易,而處處能自保J34nB311_p0680a06全,有出身路,又能創出神通玅用,而變易凡愚之迷J34nB311_p0680a07執乎?至於賢人君子,則於生死吉凶變易之處,稍能J34nB311_p0680a08求其不為所易之理,以增其所未能者,以維持其名J34nB311_p0680a09教,然終未能如神聖於一念幾微未朕之際,自能照J34nB311_p0680a10察,與照察天地人物,更無易無不易之幾,而能立卦J34nB311_p0680a11爻彖象吉凶悔吝,以開發世人,不特能不為陰陽八J34nB311_p0680a12卦之所變▆,而且能裁成天地,處處表其節奏條理,J34nB311_p0680a13故道德又草禮樂刑政,皆以範圍天地,曲成萬物,使J34nB311_p0680a14同得易而不易,以傳此生生不易之心法也。易更有J34nB311_p0680a15七義:一曰譯,如卦辭彖象,譯出天地人文也;二曰繹,J34nB311_p0680a16使人精思玩索,抽出義理之秘密也;三曰驛,此道乃J34nB311_p0680a17率天命流行,速於郵驛也;四曰翼,如孔子十翼卦象J34nB311_p0680a18之幽微,以羽翼其天道也;五曰奕,使奕葉相承,交錯J34nB311_p0680a19不絕也;六曰螫,此易之作於危微憂患,謹其義則至J34nB311_p0680a20靈,忽其警則至毒,能使人戒慎,不敢犯其諱忌也;七J34nB311_p0680a21曰亦,此易如此,天地人物亦如此,吉凶悔吝亦如此,J34nB311_p0680a22神而明之,超凡入聖亦如此也。此亦惟參透真禪,善J34nB311_p0680a23入生死變易者,始足以盡之,又能變而化之。」焦公曰:J34nB311_p0680a24「此千古奇絕矣。請問更能進於禪為之解乎?」師曰:「禪J34nB311_p0680a25無卦爻名象,亦無實法與人,然亦可以意為公解之。J34nB311_p0680a26禪者,潛也、穿也、鞭也、煎也、犍也、遷也、旋也。未出母胎,J34nB311_p0680a27度人已畢,此潛行密用,如復見天地之心者也。至於J34nB311_p0680a28初生時,指天指地,即穿卻法界人鼻孔矣。觀星悟道,J34nB311_p0680a29以一切眾生但因妄想執著而不證得,此非痛下鞭J34nB311_p0680a30乎?至於降魔說法,正按旁敲,此非猛火煎油烹佛喋J34nB311_p0680b01乎?又如靈山拈花微笑,以正法眼藏付屬迦葉,此非J34nB311_p0680b02末後關犍,牢其秘密,無人漏逗處乎?又於涅槃會上,J34nB311_p0680b03無縫無際中,如羚羊掛角,使天下人無尋覓處,此非J34nB311_p0680b04遷其性命身世於空劫外去也乎?到遮裏,又旋轉靈J34nB311_p0680b05明於不生不滅處,使此千聖不傳之秘密,於不可傳J34nB311_p0680b06中而傳也,豈非旋哉?雖然,切忌開眼尿床始得。」焦公J34nB311_p0680b07大笑曰:「此又別傳中別傳也。」
J34nB311_p0680b08師因天界襲明燈公請,倚杖南菴碧空法師、崇麓卓J34nB311_p0680b09峰相看聚談,時王知白特來問武夷路程,師曰:「果要J34nB311_p0680b10山中住,直須是脫胎換骨之人始得,不則徒自喫淡J34nB311_p0680b11泊,受苦楚無益。」碧師云:「前者覺悟師是崇安來,彼言J34nB311_p0680b12山中多半是俗人種茶,更無全真道人在彼,昔年多J34nB311_p0680b13有仙蛻在絕壁上,尚有肉身仙蛻在洞中,如今僧家J34nB311_p0680b14住靜亦多,獨東苑和尚在虎嘯往來,有數禪人相聚,J34nB311_p0680b15山水卻甚奇也。」師云:「人只知山水之奇,全是一片忤J34nB311_p0680b16逆、全是一片杜撰、全是一片蠻拗、全是一片不通道J34nB311_p0680b17理、不近人情底怪物,此所以為三十六峰之奇、七十J34nB311_p0680b18二巖之異、九曲水之怪誕、諸洞壑之淆訛,使此山水J34nB311_p0680b19如道學先生之端端正正,雖千里只成得一大山、萬J34nB311_p0680b20頃只成得一闊水,如何不百里周遭曲盡不經不法J34nB311_p0680b21之奇玅乎?」諸公大笑曰:「說得忤逆杜撰、不經不法處,J34nB311_p0680b22此天下志山水之絕奇者,無人道著。」師云:「此不特山J34nB311_p0680b23水如此,我看《楞嚴》、《楞伽》、《維摩》諸經多如此,吾宗門亦J34nB311_p0680b24多如此,所以成其疑悟也。僧問五祖演和尚:『如何是J34nB311_p0680b25臨濟宗?』曰:『忤逆聞雷。』『如何是雲門宗?』曰:『紅旗閃爍。』『如J34nB311_p0680b26何是曹洞宗?』『馳書不到家。』『如何是溈仰宗?』曰:『斷碑橫J34nB311_p0680b27古路。』『如何是法眼宗?』曰:『巡人犯夜。』更有一喻,切莫看J34nB311_p0680b28弄引扇子可也。只此武夷山,如天王峰、接筍峰、虎嘯J34nB311_p0680b29巖諸處,真有如忤逆聞雷之聳然欲絕,紅旗閃爍之J34nB311_p0680b30惑亂心神,馳書不到家之天地無門,斷碑古路之無J34nB311_p0680c01轉身,巡人犯夜之無活計也,豈不奇乎?又如阿難為J34nB311_p0680c02佛侍者,多聞第一,卻乃誤墮淫室,此非巡人犯夜乎?J34nB311_p0680c03淫躬撫摩,將毀戒體,忽而文殊將咒往護,提獎阿難、J34nB311_p0680c04摩登而歸,一人悲泣,自恨道力未全,一人淫心頓歇,J34nB311_p0680c05即證初地,此非忤逆聞雷乎?七處徵心,如煮荳燃荳J34nB311_p0680c06箕,又如七擒孟獲,此非紅旗閃爍乎?八還辯見,換卻J34nB311_p0680c07心眼,此非馳書不到家乎?三科七大,礙塞殺人,此非J34nB311_p0680c08斷碑橫古路乎?如此,則天下事業機緣,未有不從逆J34nB311_p0680c09中而得還源也。選圓通處,皆是逆流,而洞上亦云:『唯J34nB311_p0680c10大闡提能作五無間業,始得異類中行,縱橫三墮也。』J34nB311_p0680c11故山僧以王知老住武夷,先要見我東苑和尚,脫得J34nB311_p0680c12胎,換得骨,逆得流,則可到幔亭峰前舒嘯,直入大王J34nB311_p0680c13峰上,驀地一喝,使他十三仙與諸骨蛻,更不敢作守J34nB311_p0680c14屍鬼子弄精魂,則又不妨拍手唱步虛辭也。」王知老J34nB311_p0680c15大喜曰:「太抹殺神仙也。」碧師曰:「你又作抹殺會那?」
J34nB311_p0680c16焦弱侯諸公每月一會,延碧空法師講《楞嚴》一段,提J34nB311_p0680c17唱公案二則。時請師隨喜,碧師再四謙讓曰:「今有浪J34nB311_p0680c18師在此,正好質疑快論,何必拘拘舊套乎?」焦公喜曰:J34nB311_p0680c19「玅絕!此非浪師是作家,碧師決不肯開心如此也。」陳J34nB311_p0680c20乾室曰:「昨碧師言:『今海內獨北方洞宗、南中濟宗未J34nB311_p0680c21見有大振起者,以洞上立門庭,宗旨綿密,固可久傳J34nB311_p0680c22也。』大師以為何如?」師曰:「二宗末流,弊皆不免,因所傳J34nB311_p0680c23者皆名相皮毛耳。就中得其神髓,豈易識乎?今幸儒J34nB311_p0680c24宗、教宗、禪宗皆有人在此,所謂明眼人前不得說夢。J34nB311_p0680c25今秪與諸公舉之,或有疑難,不妨一激揚之,當爐避J34nB311_p0680c26火,何貴於有精堅哉?」碧師曰:「只遮開場便當喝采也,J34nB311_p0680c27使能一齣齣演出奇微,不使大家絕倒乎?」焦公曰:「也J34nB311_p0680c28須二師節拍相應始玅。」師曰:「予昔嘗論五宗,獨洞上J34nB311_p0680c29標旨能兼玅世、出世法,其名教義理猶深於儒,而宗J34nB311_p0680c30旨機密更兼攝四家,此非自樹洞上門庭也。如七佛J34nB311_p0681a01以前,秖有此靈明玅密,何曾有名義可表、宗旨可分?J34nB311_p0681a02試看世尊初生,指天指地是何名義宗旨?與觀星悟J34nB311_p0681a03道、拈艸建剎、陞座白椎、以手摩胸、拈花微笑、倒卻剎J34nB311_p0681a04竿等是何名義宗旨?不知名義宗旨便從此處表分J34nB311_p0681a05也。此處表分,能無真知真悟、邪見邪解者互相掩奪J34nB311_p0681a06乎?此中便有辨魔揀異之法,不惟使不敢借竊,亦使J34nB311_p0681a07於此有轉機活計也。不然,一法立而百弊生,一正開J34nB311_p0681a08而百邪入,何嘗有心心相應、法法相傳,為之創立、為J34nB311_p0681a09之推揚、為之救弊、為之變通、為之擴充、為之收拾?至J34nB311_p0681a10於西天破九十六家,及東土斥相指心、全提直指、曲J34nB311_p0681a11唱旁敲,及二支五派《信心銘》、《證道歌》、《參同契》、《寶鏡三J34nB311_p0681a12昧》、《玄中銘》、五位正偏功位、君臣、父子、主賓、王子、內紹、J34nB311_p0681a13外紹、三綱宗、三滲漏、三墮、四禁、十玄門,乃至九十七J34nB311_p0681a14種圓相、三燃燈、三玄、三要、四料揀、四主賓、照用、縱奪、J34nB311_p0681a15三關、九帶、一字關、三句、六相義,種種皆是以楔出楔、J34nB311_p0681a16以毒攻毒,此中非神心玅手能於生死淆訛中殺活J34nB311_p0681a17人,安有出身之路乎?如外道問佛,不問有言、不問無J34nB311_p0681a18言,世尊良久,外道曰:『世尊大慈,開我迷雲,令我得入。』J34nB311_p0681a19此處鐵眼銅睛亦看不破世尊也,如良馬見鞭影,不J34nB311_p0681a20知阿難擔了一擔懵懂,何能瞥地?又外道在佛側侍J34nB311_p0681a21立,世尊曰:『此中有外道,如何便搔著痛處?』外道亦曰:J34nB311_p0681a22『世尊大慈,開我迷雲,令我得入。』世尊良久,外道不言,J34nB311_p0681a23分明兩箇沒孔鎚卻令人悟入,而此名教宗旨能表J34nB311_p0681a24分其邪正乎?此處須別具隻眼始得。又如達磨令神J34nB311_p0681a25光將心為汝安,光覓心了不可得即為安心,今日學J34nB311_p0681a26人亦曰:『我覓心了不可得。』我今曰:『為汝安心竟。』彼能J34nB311_p0681a27如神光即頓悟,復能末後三拜依位而立,達磨謂之J34nB311_p0681a28得髓乎?此處還有君臣正偏、玄要照用也無?又如洞J34nB311_p0681a29山問雲巖:『有人問:「還邈得師真否?」如何抵對他?』巖良J34nB311_p0681a30久,云:『秖遮是。』遮箇良久與世尊良久有同別乎?此如J34nB311_p0681b01德山親參不見龍潭、臨濟喫三頓棒、溈山撥火不著、J34nB311_p0681b02仰山出井不得、雲門被睦州閉卻門、法眼見地藏豎J34nB311_p0681b03指,有同別乎?洞山沉吟,雲巖云:『价闍黎承當箇事,大J34nB311_p0681b04須審細。』即此何異百丈躬去撥火、大愚呵為尿床、龍J34nB311_p0681b05潭吹滅紙燈、地藏撥破心上石?如此作用,正是擣其J34nB311_p0681b06五陰巢穴、滅其無明種類,使他出聖凡迷悟大轉變J34nB311_p0681b07之時也。如人病在膏肓,不是如此靈丹玅藥,如何拔J34nB311_p0681b08出病根、振起元氣?又如紅銅中出血、白銅中出鐵,如J34nB311_p0681b09今參學全是箇夾礦金、假汞銀,不曾受過爐鎚鍛煉,J34nB311_p0681b10如何敢稱了生死、破無明?此自暴自欺乎?今日參學J34nB311_p0681b11果能如古人恁麼懸崖撒手、絕後重甦一番乎?直饒J34nB311_p0681b12恁麼,更須見人。洞山初見南泉即能破的,又要透無J34nB311_p0681b13情說法與過水睹影、打透金鎖玄關,始能拔聖凡見J34nB311_p0681b14刺、斬魔外稠林。即臨濟喫棒得一自了,重重於黃檗J34nB311_p0681b15處鍛煉,及遍參諸方;雲門拶斷秦鑽,又向雪峰攛出J34nB311_p0681b16杖頭,更入重重錦縫、玉線金針,遍參疏山、曹山、乾峰,J34nB311_p0681b17曲盡三登九上之玅,始能為一代作手,雄列五宗。此J34nB311_p0681b18非能君、能臣,能偏、能正,又能玅協超迥,安能使此千J34nB311_p0681b19聖不傳者不墜哉?正以機不離位,無有出身之路;情J34nB311_p0681b20存向背,不能斷人命根;體玅失宗,不能拶向上人之J34nB311_p0681b21見刺。今世徒見君臣五位為門庭施設,又誰能神而J34nB311_p0681b22明之、毒而攻之哉?秖如世法,舉世皆是人,何彼獨為J34nB311_p0681b23君?何彼獨為臣?何彼獨為主?何彼獨為賓?人皆有正J34nB311_p0681b24偏,何有正不能偏、偏不能正、正不能來、偏不能至、正J34nB311_p0681b25偏不能兼到而玅協?不知君臣、父子、主賓皆有德、有J34nB311_p0681b26位、有功也,何嘗獨以君為正、臣為偏,君為內、臣為外J34nB311_p0681b27乎?君臣、父子、主賓各皆有德、有位、有功,始能互換交J34nB311_p0681b28易、玅協融通,超超乎皆有天然尊貴之玅密也。但一J34nB311_p0681b29切聖凡皆有事障、理障,以無明執計未破、生死命根J34nB311_p0681b30未斷,故正是染污之正、偏是執計之偏,如鏡與珠既J34nB311_p0681c01有染污執計,則鏡與珠皆不靈玅也,何能寂而常照、J34nB311_p0681c02照而常寂?既染污,則寂照皆失、正偏皆邪也。使非佛J34nB311_p0681c03祖以本分金剛性智之正偏玅密以拔其無明執計J34nB311_p0681c04之污染,何能成此如來智慧德相、三法身之德位功J34nB311_p0681c05哉?何故?君臣、主賓有此德位功,然後君始能君而視J34nB311_p0681c06臣、臣始能臣而向君,所謂一體玅合而中和位育,於J34nB311_p0681c07此天命流行不息中還容增減否耶?請致。」
J34nB311_p0681c08師偶偕陳乾室、吳遠菴、何星房、季爾康諸公到莽蛇J34nB311_p0681c09倉,古曇菴隨喜坐禪。時古曇師相見,茶次,陳公云:「我J34nB311_p0681c10南京講席最多,絕無坐禪者,獨此坐禪參話頭做工J34nB311_p0681c11夫,始有與生死作對敵者。曇師曾見達觀、憨山諸大J34nB311_p0681c12師,以故雲臺、見源諸公在此久住,我輩每來,愧不能J34nB311_p0681c13有下手處,徒望洋而退也。」遠菴曰:「曇師輩絕好一架J34nB311_p0681c14鐵脊禪,如壁立千仞,昏散甚少,可謂打成一片也。」師J34nB311_p0681c15曰:「公說得也。似此禪不是昏散少、打成一片即得入J34nB311_p0681c16也。」吳曰:「我等一生求一刻壁立不能,古人亦有四十J34nB311_p0681c17年始得打成一片話,何大師以為未得入也?」師云:「天J34nB311_p0681c18下人就是此處打不破無明關鍵,無有出身之路。不J34nB311_p0681c19見道:坐斷十方猶點額,密移一步看飛龍乎?玄沙云:J34nB311_p0681c20『靜夜鐘聲,寒潭月影,隨扣擊以無私,逐波瀾而不散,J34nB311_p0681c21此猶是生死岸頭事。』洞宗人云:『莫守寒巖異艸青,坐J34nB311_p0681c22斷白雲宗不玅。』機不離位,墮在毒海,如何出得聖凡J34nB311_p0681c23窠窟?」吳曰:「如此則大師何以進之?」師云:「我將箇死話J34nB311_p0681c24頭問汝諸公:萬法歸一,一歸何處?如何趙州道:『我在J34nB311_p0681c25青州做一領布衫,重七斤。』此處容你打成一片乎?此J34nB311_p0681c26處容你把定躲根乎?此處容你坐脫立亡,即夢見先J34nB311_p0681c27師意乎?」吳曰:「如此,則古人不必教人坐禪也。」師笑曰:J34nB311_p0681c28「居士又錯也。非是教不要坐也,只是教人不要坐在J34nB311_p0681c29死語、死法、死路上,要人於坐中參著著有出身路,不J34nB311_p0681c30要被佛祖言句所欺、不要為心行見解所欺、不要於J34nB311_p0682a01工夫綿密所欺,要藉佛祖言句打破無明業鏡,透過J34nB311_p0682a02金鎖玄關,所謂不疑言句,是為大病。如我壽昌和尚J34nB311_p0682a03必透得大好山語過,然後乃云:『知道始知山不好,翻J34nB311_p0682a04身直出祖師關。』透過此,又要遍透古人結角羅紋處,J34nB311_p0682a05始能以毒攻毒,與人出生死結交,得縱橫於類不齊、J34nB311_p0682a06混不得之秘密法門也。」曇公乃驚起,與堂中諸公搭J34nB311_p0682a07衣執香禮拜曰:「此不敢欺,實未曾得聞此語,雖不直J34nB311_p0682a08下領略,然已打斷許多死語、死法、死路,便見此身心J34nB311_p0682a09輕鬆,如大病之出一身白汗也。」陳公曰:「此處乃見浪J34nB311_p0682a10大師玅密爐鎚,亦見曇老師虛衷為法,此不是工夫J34nB311_p0682a11到極處,不能如此得一轉身也。」自是,雲臺、見源諸公J34nB311_p0682a12次日皆相隨至三藏殿,邀諸友結制。
J34nB311_p0682a13優曇於雞鳴解經期,即與無方迎師於三藏淨室暫J34nB311_p0682a14住,請益參禪事。時立宗法師在殿上講《楞嚴經》,聞師J34nB311_p0682a15至,即過訪,談及壽昌、博山悟道後開堂說法之事,甚J34nB311_p0682a16驚訝之,曰:「此真古佛再來也。惜乎我輩生於西江,不J34nB311_p0682a17獲參禮。但小弟雖講經,亦嘗念學人聽過二三部,教J34nB311_p0682a18得箇理路通,便好棄卻冊子、看公案參禪去。」師云:「不J34nB311_p0682a19消棄卻冊子、看公案,別求參禪也。如世尊曰:『無始以J34nB311_p0682a20來,生死相續,皆由不知常住真心。』只遮一箇皆由不J34nB311_p0682a21知四字,便是金剛劍剖破一切眾生無明根翳也。使J34nB311_p0682a22直下能知此常住真心,豈不立地始覺,頓成本覺哉?J34nB311_p0682a23如看不破,則此常住真心何異庭前柏樹子乎?又云:J34nB311_p0682a24『知是空華,即無輪轉。』如何便知?如何是空華?此箇知J34nB311_p0682a25字,即是塗毒鼓一擊,便能斷生死命根也。此知是何J34nB311_p0682a26知?若不知,便可疑,便是箇鐵饅頭也、便是箇乾屎橛J34nB311_p0682a27也、便是須彌山也、便是麻三斤、死貓頭也。知麼?如何J34nB311_p0682a28不知?既不知,何不疑?疑不透,則如何能使萬劫生死J34nB311_p0682a29即無輪轉哉?正是不善疑,則一千七百公案亦如大J34nB311_p0682a30佛頂首楞嚴相似,如水裏按葫蘆相似,如何參得透?J34nB311_p0682b01如今參話頭、看公案,與看解註無異,何曾有一些拶J34nB311_p0682b02入處?秖如狂心若歇,歇即菩提。如何為狂心?見色聞J34nB311_p0682b03聲是狂耶?語默動靜是狂耶?如何歇得去?眼不見色J34nB311_p0682b04是歇耶?耳不聞聲是歇耶?如何是菩提?此菩提是本J34nB311_p0682b05有耶?是新來耶?只此何異『萬法歸一,一歸何處?我在J34nB311_p0682b06青州做一領布衫』相似,又何如趙州勘破臺山婆子J34nB311_p0682b07相似?又何如洞山道有伴即來相似?楞嚴中句句是J34nB311_p0682b08鐵橛子,句句是金剛圈,句句是棘栗篷,句句是大病J34nB311_p0682b09源,只是人當作尋常看去也。」立法師大驚曰:「怪道優J34nB311_p0682b10曇說昨老師在雞鳴大振宗風,全提密義,真得未曾J34nB311_p0682b11有也。我輩如此看之,真可謂終日與人做腳夫、搬糠J34nB311_p0682b12秕矣。愧甚!感甚!」
J34nB311_p0682b13師生父張存三老居士與胞弟季玉居士同戴今梁J34nB311_p0682b14觀察在揚州,聞師寓天界,程相如大將軍遣使迎師J34nB311_p0682b15於廣陵興教寺相會,痛談思慕之懷,及偕游瓊花觀、J34nB311_p0682b16吹玉臺各處,晤諸公,因機說法甚多。師以焦公約會J34nB311_p0682b17周海門先生,使人促回,乃辭戴、程諸公,同父、弟返南J34nB311_p0682b18菴。時存翁老居士正五十初度,閩中親友宋比玉、孫J34nB311_p0682b19千枝、蔡心玄、待興了玄及魏考叔諸故交來作屏,傳J34nB311_p0682b20父子三人像,作三教一家圖為壽。存老居士自題云:J34nB311_p0682b21「三教原來是一家,無端能較此年牙,銀盤盛雪誰渠J34nB311_p0682b22我?明月堂開劫外花。」師自題云:「驀地重逢力囗希,儼J34nB311_p0682b23然顧鑑中眉垂,杖頭敲出追風鴆,逆拂人天毒影吹。」J34nB311_p0682b24弟季玉自題云:「仰鑽瞻忽笑馳求,誰識諄諄老孔丘?J34nB311_p0682b25鼻孔拽來還卓卓,心齊忘後更風流。」諸公各有屏詩,J34nB311_p0682b26復設供,請小參為壽。師拈香後,乃云:「尼山五十知命,J34nB311_p0682b27仰見毘盧有師;大衍全數一虛,就中法身有父。拄杖J34nB311_p0682b28子撥出威音王,向上頂眼正令已行;吹毛劍剖開婁J34nB311_p0682b29至佛,末後牢關全提猶密。就路還家,有不出門底祖J34nB311_p0682b30在;轉身歸父,無可獻呈底機深。兒孫得力不繇人,奉J34nB311_p0682c01重相忘原自肯。秪如前三三、後三三,與九九山房所J34nB311_p0682c02存底尊貴意旨還玅協否?三點印開朱縫窄,鶴沖霄J34nB311_p0682c03漢出銀籠。」眾大喜,同為拜。
J34nB311_p0682c04父弟一門未見壽昌老和尚,今於聖像前求師皈依,J34nB311_p0682c05授父法名元梵,母潘名元淨,兄瑚名道日,弟瑋名道J34nB311_p0682c06月,請師法語表之。「父母未見翁,不肖孫親見,白玉毫J34nB311_p0682c07端飛紫電。兄弟未見祖,我卻展眉新禾粟幹中透法J34nB311_p0682c08身。梵兮淨兮,體覆載之恩力;日兮月兮,承巍煥之威J34nB311_p0682c09神。吸西江而掉入南浦,分法乳而脈貫宗親。」
J34nB311_p0682c10師因優曇、無方、雲臺見源諸公延於三藏殿結制,師J34nB311_p0682c11不許,諸公以不敢請開堂,但求激發諸友同集參究,J34nB311_p0682c12使此宗風有以開端也。師乃允之,立規條令整肅,乃J34nB311_p0682c13題客堂對曰:「黃面老來且喫茶,試聽斬新法令;赤鬍J34nB311_p0682c14子至休潦艸,好看特地家風。」湛懷師過訪,見之乃曰:J34nB311_p0682c15「佛祖到此也難,在我輩又當如何?」師笑曰:「公既已到J34nB311_p0682c16遮裏,瞻前顧後作麼?」湛曰:「大師也須放一線道始得。」J34nB311_p0682c17師云:「公且喫茶著。」懷因言:「昨見大師與曇映一偈,有J34nB311_p0682c18『秖遮不知知,月照清池上』之句,玅甚,但不易會得,此J34nB311_p0682c19與無明窟下一火炬子也。」時審之法師從高座論經,J34nB311_p0682c20聞諸友舉與碧空、無隱、立宗諸公論議,驚訝之曰:「彼J34nB311_p0682c21少年如此,豈真活祖師哉?我試看之。特來訪。」方在座J34nB311_p0682c22中論杜順懷州牛喫禾、傅大士空手把鉏頭及皓布J34nB311_p0682c23褌打倒葡萄棚語,拈提正快,因舉問審公云:「師如何J34nB311_p0682c24著語看?」審之愕然,又問之,擬對,師搖手曰:「不是,不是J34nB311_p0682c25遮箇道理。」審愈愕之,師曰:「打倒葡萄棚也,阿那箇扶J34nB311_p0682c26起好?」眾默然,師曰:「亮座主不信,虛空解講經。待欲行,J34nB311_p0682c27被馬祖呼來,豁然有省,便掉頭而去。太原孚上座講J34nB311_p0682c28《涅槃經》,被禪者一笑,即冰消瓦解。夜來聞鼓角聲,便J34nB311_p0682c29如鑽天鷂子,雖雪峰弄蛇手,亦捉拏他不住。此皆是J34nB311_p0682c30曾親見作家來,便能脫胎換骨,別行一路而去。諸公J34nB311_p0683a01果能於此打破自家葛藤窠,正好如周金剛直到龍J34nB311_p0683a02潭,便徹底掀翻他底巢穴、滅他底種類,拈一條白棒,J34nB311_p0683a03佛祖也打得無地走,豈不快此生平哉?莫只作央庠J34nB311_p0683a04座主,被人當面欺負,不知憤激以自鈍置也。」湛懷、審J34nB311_p0683a05之、諸公大喜,曰:「即此是深錐痛劄,勝於開堂說法也。」
J34nB311_p0683a06闃然諡師偕大休老宿從北京歸,至清涼門,聞師在J34nB311_p0683a07天界來會,始知壽昌老和尚已示寂,不勝痛絕,茫然J34nB311_p0683a08如失天地。師云:「此老祖全提,我輩別創乾坤,各出手J34nB311_p0683a09眼也,師亦當自勵矣。老祖遺命茶毘入普同,大眾不J34nB311_p0683a10忍以中興祖可無表彰乎?擬於西方丈建塔,將必請J34nB311_p0683a11塔銘。海內大老獨有憨大師深服老祖,曾有『突出大J34nB311_p0683a12好山,千里遙相見』之讚,足以表揚此外大手筆。唯周J34nB311_p0683a13海門、焦弱侯、曾金簡、吳觀我諸公可能為之,不則公J34nB311_p0683a14且立片石於塔前。人問,但曰:『此老和尚塔銘也。』或曰:J34nB311_p0683a15『如何無文字?』但曰:『待具眼底人來著。』」謐師曰:「此須是J34nB311_p0683a16浪公始得。」師云:「師且恁麼去著。」謐師遂去。師且與父J34nB311_p0683a17弟傾倒,候壽昌消息,隨後歸來可也。時沈養素購新J34nB311_p0683a18室,請師住數日。又閩中有書來,以東苑和尚病劇,並J34nB311_p0683a19師之老母亦病,老居士促歸。諸公以三藏殿方欲結J34nB311_p0683a20制,再四苦留不能矣。因示別諸公曰:「金陵是六朝勝J34nB311_p0683a21地,天下人文之都會。自後漢赤烏間,有康居尊者,從J34nB311_p0683a22空中求得佛舍利,於此長干建塔,此震旦國一最尊J34nB311_p0683a23特之神教也。又有三大藏經版,此諸佛慧命在此流J34nB311_p0683a24通,真世出世之至寶也。達磨大師初來,即此會梁武J34nB311_p0683a25帝,一則廓然無聖公案,為東土開天之金剛王劍,截J34nB311_p0683a26斷聖凡命根。惜乎無能領略,渡江而去。只此遺風,亦J34nB311_p0683a27足剖千古人心眼矣。繼有四祖,於匡山望氣而來,牛J34nB311_p0683a28頭尋懶融,乃得別出一枝。至南唐後主,延法眼益禪J34nB311_p0683a29師,大振宗風於清涼。此後雖無創出之人,誰謂真宗J34nB311_p0683a30旨果湮滅乎?客冬天假之緣,得來此會晤群公,同得J34nB311_p0683b01許多激揚,較古人一言半句不契,拂袖而去者,亦未J34nB311_p0683b02為不奇快也。喜今有優曇、無方、雲臺見源諸公,拚身J34nB311_p0683b03懇切此事,為眾竭力。即山僧暫時歸閩,勾當祖父之J34nB311_p0683b04事,隨來了此未了公案。方今海內果欲振興此宗,捨J34nB311_p0683b05此南都,則是捨須彌而求尊山矣。諸公信得及耶?自J34nB311_p0683b06不負此一約也。」
J34nB311_p0683b07長干結參同社引云:「石頭遷和尚以竺土大仙心,東J34nB311_p0683b08西密相付為宗旨,只此是千聖傳心之法。必須參透J34nB311_p0683b09此心,靈源能於明中皎潔,始不昧乎生;參透此法,枝J34nB311_p0683b10派能於暗中流注,終不滅乎死。此則不執枝派之事,J34nB311_p0683b11以迷函蓋之合其源;不計靈源之理,以悟箭鋒之拄J34nB311_p0683b12其派。又何有明暗兩岐其清濁,使本末不歸宗於此J34nB311_p0683b13心?何有理事不一其上下,使尊卑不用語於此法乎?J34nB311_p0683b14即三藏教乘多用其語,未必歸宗;五家秘旨如不歸J34nB311_p0683b15宗,終非得語。此參究必意句俱到,始能透脫牢關。所J34nB311_p0683b16謂謹白參玄人,光陰莫虛度者,可作同社之警云。」
夢筆初集
J34nB311_p0683b18師自萬曆丁巳歲見壽昌老和尚,後到南京,寓天界。J34nB311_p0683b19戊午夏,因閩中家難作,父弟促歸夢筆,遂於祖父師J34nB311_p0683b20友各有表章,不敢忘其所自云。
J34nB311_p0683b21送大父子陽張翁、大母唐氏合葬,於墓前奠語。「大父J34nB311_p0683b22生平以家學所宗南軒公及侍御善公,以西山、心政J34nB311_p0683b23二經參大學衍義而訓子孫。大父但能誠篤修己,潛J34nB311_p0683b24好濟人之急,專供西方三聖,念切往生。臨終自知時J34nB311_p0683b25至,澡浴衣冠,笑談辭眾,我子孫不禁大哭。翁笑曰:『你J34nB311_p0683b26哭將謂我去處不好,我卻有箇好去處,只是汝等業J34nB311_p0683b27識紏纏,生不知生,死不知死,正當自哭耳,何哭我為?』J34nB311_p0683b28師為童子,彼時猛省,即求出家,走去慶源。大母與母J34nB311_p0683b29哀號,促父兄覓歸,乃咒曰:『我祖宗無風水蔭,出你不J34nB311_p0683b30肖子孫,壞我家門,寧可拜死你,不使你玷辱我。』大母J34nB311_p0683c01亦嘗念佛,但不知法門事,及臨終,乃召子孫曰:『到今J34nB311_p0683c02日乃知我那老子與出家底孫是箇活脫法,我如今J34nB311_p0683c03更不恨,且喜他也。汝等念佛無哭,送我往西去。』就中J34nB311_p0683c04一逆一順,亦甚奇合也。」乃燒香祭奠云:「春生南北枝,J34nB311_p0683c05一坑無異土,何劫作同參,生死還相睹。誰知兩箇龐J34nB311_p0683c06公婆,特地能撾塗毒鼓,逆激世出世冤親,此段風流J34nB311_p0683c07幾解舉。文彩縱橫針線奇,留下畫不成底鴛鴦譜,也J34nB311_p0683c08是度他千古與萬古,善於出入自家門戶。」
J34nB311_p0683c09師之父存三翁元梵居士,天性豪俠,凡衣冠玩好,皆J34nB311_p0683c10先創出,人稱之為大方家。海內三九異人,無不接納。J34nB311_p0683c11賓明柯公贈曰:「家無半畝庄,座滿三千客。」一日,在賭J34nB311_p0683c12場解鬥,值中傷人,命坐入獄。翁灑然,日夕唱步虛詞。J34nB311_p0683c13喜撫琴,不計指法,但適趣耳,獄明乃出。每傾身家救J34nB311_p0683c14人,人負之,絕無怨言。嘗對人歎曰:「英雄不作欺人語,J34nB311_p0683c15惜乎曹瞞亦千古英雄,獨心行自負之。如寧可我負J34nB311_p0683c16天下人,不可天下人負我,此豈天下負彼哉?使能曰J34nB311_p0683c17寧可天下人負我,不可我負天下人,不亦聖賢可造J34nB311_p0683c18乎?善乎伊川之言,甚簡甚切,心口不可暫忘。曰:『小人J34nB311_p0683c19枉做了小人,君子樂做了君子。』又曰:『世界上做得一J34nB311_p0683c20分好事,即救得世界一分。』此語不真令天下人盡可J34nB311_p0683c21學乎?」或曰:「公能心口不異乎?」翁笑曰:「我借此自警耳。」J34nB311_p0683c22一夕,夢到一洞府,會諸仙相盤桓,贈一額曰九九山J34nB311_p0683c23房,別號曰存三仙。曰:「此吾道術之秘旨也。」又從上轉J34nB311_p0683c24入一巖林異常,見群僧在紺碧殿上踞坐談笑,見翁J34nB311_p0683c25到,即相迎客坐。因道及會諸仙贈言事,有老僧曰:「吾J34nB311_p0683c26異是翁,更求指示。」僧豎拂子曰:「還有遮箇麼?」曰:「弟子J34nB311_p0683c27家中有白塵底。」僧笑曰:「錯過也。」翁猛省曰:「是是。」僧曰:J34nB311_p0683c28「尚有病未去在。」曰:「如何去得?」僧曰:「待病發自去。」曰:「還J34nB311_p0683c29乞指示。」僧呼居士,公力應,即驚醒。乃求曾心蕊太史J34nB311_p0683c30記之,於是更諱為去病,號額皆如仙贈。海內諸公讚J34nB311_p0684a01言,積幾冊軸。及師見壽昌、東苑後,每以生死事取決。J34nB311_p0684a02又曰:「九九何指?」對曰:「呼醒時是誰指?」翁曰:「莫是不昧J34nB311_p0684a03主人公麼?」對曰:「摘揚花,摘揚花。」翁曰:「待我透此著。」對J34nB311_p0684a04曰:「又恁麼去。」翁亦覺自喜。一日遠出,有生平最珍惜J34nB311_p0684a05古董玩好,為大兄蕩去。親友驚之曰:「此番乃翁歸,當J34nB311_p0684a06深避之,無觸傷天性也。」及翁歸聞之,忽叫曰:「好了好J34nB311_p0684a07了,機緣到了。」人訝之。翁曰:「我一生每遇功名事業將J34nB311_p0684a08湊手,忽然斷去;每與人結交至密處,忽然反去;每遇J34nB311_p0684a09玩好恩愛事,忽然奪去。我浪長老說:『不特世間恩愛J34nB311_p0684a10當自斷,即佛祖秘密如生死冤家,亦須與他開交,方J34nB311_p0684a11有自由分。』今日事事皆來斷我,不待我去斷他。使我J34nB311_p0684a12去斷,何時得斷?今日乃知冤家是我恩人也。我方整J34nB311_p0684a13頓,明年要往雲南、四川作何勾當?不賴此一斷,與他J34nB311_p0684a14做奴才也做不了。自己拋身命在,何冤井不知也?何J34nB311_p0684a15幸如之!」翁嗜茶,日夕烹不離手。嘗曰:「盧仝茶歌曰:『白J34nB311_p0684a16花凝光浮碗面。此得茶經之玅。』又曰:『紗帽籠頭自煎J34nB311_p0684a17喫。』此非親手烹煎,何能得此水火之候乎?」知交甚多,J34nB311_p0684a18獨與柯賓明、戴今梁、鄒愚谷甚密。在西湖,與界山、德J34nB311_p0684a19宗二法師相契洽。初會東苑和尚於會心園,語意不J34nB311_p0684a20投,謂其太僻,做善知識須是大通人情,而心亦敬之。J34nB311_p0684a21最皈命者,獨是壽昌老和尚,嘗曰:「我雖未見,聞其為J34nB311_p0684a22人真踞地師子吼也。」及雲門湛和尚入閩,於夢筆快J34nB311_p0684a23談,門大稱曰:「使翁早年參禪,真有驅耕奪食之手,今J34nB311_p0684a24尚未老也。」明年丁卯,少有恙,邀黃心鏡諸公到家,曰:J34nB311_p0684a25「此回別去也。」心鏡曰:「存老生平得力全在此時,百尺J34nB311_p0684a26竿頭須進一步。」翁笑曰:「老老大大作遮箇話在。」鏡曰:J34nB311_p0684a27「畢竟如何?」翁曰:「莫寐語,看取日頭尚高否?」乃拱手就J34nB311_p0684a28枕而寂。諸公屏息久之,無不感者。時師在建州,及追J34nB311_p0684a29歸,乃三七日也。師母早喪,有繼母、繼子同一居,兄弟J34nB311_p0684a30親屬問其家事者,師曰:「天地既覆墜,尚問山海艸木J34nB311_p0684b01乎?」極力止兄弟:「爾各有家,何必更問此?」因而對靈奠J34nB311_p0684b02曰:「九九雲飛,三三鳥度,英雄語不欺人,驀地呼來病J34nB311_p0684b03去,打鼓驚起夢蝶,摘得楊花栩栩。六月山房冰煮茶,J34nB311_p0684b04自笑龐公是作家,百尺竿頭呵看日,鐵船水上唱三J34nB311_p0684b05巴。」
J34nB311_p0684b06師之母潘氏,元淨開士。自初持大悲聖號不輟,欲生J34nB311_p0684b07不肖。初夜,夢於堂前見一雪眉僧,持蓮花一枝求宿。J34nB311_p0684b08母曰:「問我男人去。」驚醒,即分娩,因乳名為僧哥。就外J34nB311_p0684b09傳時,母欲命名為蓮。叔父曰:「大侄名瑚,次侄名璉,乃J34nB311_p0684b10聖賢器也。」母性善,事祖父母盡孝養,與父如敬大賓,J34nB311_p0684b11多茹素。念大悲號後,臥疾三年,四肢不舉。忽一日,命J34nB311_p0684b12沐浴起拜佛,不用扶持。一家驚謂:「得何神藥?」母曰:「非J34nB311_p0684b13藥也。昨夢大悲灑我甘露,謂我夙業盡消,今當生歡J34nB311_p0684b14喜國也。」母曰:「我願生菩薩國。菩薩笑曰:『即我國也。』汝J34nB311_p0684b15等可寄語夢筆僧哥,我生他有好處也。」乃念大悲而J34nB311_p0684b16寂。時辛酉三月清明日。師自稱僧子盛,奠曰:「無憂樹J34nB311_p0684b17下,僧從何來?大悲口出,蓮花托胎。法身大病,磨盡鏡J34nB311_p0684b18塵。夢回倔起,歡喜自新。可憐逆子,不能割股調藥,而J34nB311_p0684b19報此罔極。徒以合笑不合哭,賺殺曹山顛酒漢,使他J34nB311_p0684b20三墮不變異者,自求出身。」
J34nB311_p0684b21師之弟瑋季玉,道月居士,少年英粹,不知世故,唯刻J34nB311_p0684b22苦讀書。進庠早,師掩關時,從賓明柯先生游,得竊聽J34nB311_p0684b23奇論。柯公以墨莊堂稿示師,師素不攻舉業,因讀其J34nB311_p0684b24理題,如率性之謂道、吾道一以貫、天何言哉、如有所J34nB311_p0684b25立、子絕四諸篇,其義理不透徹,因以八股法拈數藝J34nB311_p0684b26似之。柯大驚曰:「禪是其本事也,何從得此快義乎?我J34nB311_p0684b27老於牖下,當望塵而拜。」時翁壽如相從,即批評命謄J34nB311_p0684b28之,黏於寓所。諸士紳謁之,便指之曰:「此聖人文,非特J34nB311_p0684b29禪師能為。」 邑中親友亦未之信,此或是柯公故為J34nB311_p0684b30駭人視聽耳。及李繡虎、徐居之、張丹扆諸君皆來採J34nB311_p0684c01問,與之論,始信曰:「此悟門也,不關於外學。」季玉於是J34nB311_p0684c02愧然憤發,力究宗乘,謂非此不足為世出世也。惜母J34nB311_p0684c03又繼喪,身弱,入贅於徐吉源處。又未周年,季玉俄病J34nB311_p0684c04痢,其岳翁善醫,用峻製太傷,遂不起。無子,秖一女,其J34nB311_p0684c05岳翁亦無子,感恨,不七日亦終。師乃為主其事,令之J34nB311_p0684c06合葬,以弟媳別適於人。傷其夭,輓之曰:「嘗以卓立自J34nB311_p0684c07慰耳,子在如何敢先死?南浦源流當屬誰?令予慟也J34nB311_p0684c08傷逝水。」
J34nB311_p0684c09夢筆剃度。師識源法和尚,楚黃陂人。嘗游雪浪諸師J34nB311_p0684c10法席,後隱書林瑞巖。不肖辛亥從師祝髮,因得同歸。J34nB311_p0684c11夢筆成我三年死關,恩力因有在也。今庚申秋示寂,J34nB311_p0684c12謹此奠云。「嗚呼!黃鶴樓前古鏡未磨,黑漆桶底雪浪J34nB311_p0684c13生花。腳下誰抽紅線?蹋碎南浦淥波鉤。引箇冒命子J34nB311_p0684c14上瑞巖,眉毛幾乎盡墮,無端又被業風吹向夢筆,與J34nB311_p0684c15犯苗稼者做死冤家,贏得我活埋關裏,石筍生龍牙。J34nB311_p0684c16遮老大蟲,心肝血滴滴,叫吒吒,無可酬報,今朝博遮J34nB311_p0684c17艾火燒尾巴。」
J34nB311_p0684c18東苑和尚庚午秋遷化於武夷石屏巖,報訃,人覓予J34nB311_p0684c19不見。久之,於建州始知,乃哭奠云:「獅子游行,更無伴J34nB311_p0684c20侶;毒龍擾海,無不匿閉。遮箇沒面目漢,死去見閻羅,J34nB311_p0684c21只應翻亂地獄,無安措處。直饒佛祖異類中,爭奈恣J34nB311_p0684c22意僻性,無一箇人近傍得它,亦可謂自苦自窮,誰能J34nB311_p0684c23代替?咦!賴有此箇拄杖子,放他不過在。」于是擗地大J34nB311_p0684c24叫曰:「蒼天!蒼天!徒添冤酷。」乃禮拜,遂歸武夷,襄末後J34nB311_p0684c25事。
J34nB311_p0684c26博山和尚於庚午冬示寂,報訃夢筆,師時在武夷西J34nB311_p0684c27來嵒,乃哭奠云:「急水灘頭拋竹篙,菴兒燒卻金增色,J34nB311_p0684c28惜乎廣種不及薄收,將與他室紛紛添籌。歸去早,五J34nB311_p0684c29湖風月空皎皎,又誰知大好山尚有一枝橫出玉珊J34nB311_p0684c30珊?」
J34nB311_p0685a01處州龍泉西寺孤舟榕和尚,從浦城吳山出家,受鵝J34nB311_p0685a02湖戒,以梵行作佛事,感化甚遠。初住慶源忠堂崗,師J34nB311_p0685a03適大父逝,有感,走到山求出家,師不肯為,父母不聽,J34nB311_p0685a04師苦求依止,舟曰:「你且將為僧事習學熟,待有機緣,J34nB311_p0685a05則現成也。功課及律儀,須先精之,則聽教參禪,無往J34nB311_p0685a06不利。」不閱月,為家人執歸,而感其撫教特甚。壬戌在J34nB311_p0685a07博山時,師亦來設供,因隨之到鵝湖峰頂,見養菴老J34nB311_p0685a08和尚,機緣甚愜,喜慰之極。又隨同到龍泉西寺度夏,J34nB311_p0685a09舟師力命為眾受戒,力辭不敢,因代為之羯磨開示。J34nB311_p0685a10以夢筆人逼歸,舟師灑淚曰:「古人亦有弟子度師者,J34nB311_p0685a11老僧何幸而不幸也?」痛為割別。此後鼎新重建西寺,J34nB311_p0685a12甲干處州嘗千指親依,以德行感人,不言而化。己巳J34nB311_p0685a13在建州,始聞孤舟師歸寂,乃感奠云:「春風拂拂,萬物J34nB311_p0685a14爭新,造化何知?自能屈伸。忠信可行蠻貊,道德足感J34nB311_p0685a15鬼神,戒月悲花,拔楔剖塵。可憐浪子不能住,賺殺千J34nB311_p0685a16年核裏仁。」
