J33nB288_p0582b05師在汾陽獅子禪院,忽一晚,性明監院、忻然維那、隱J33nB288_p0582b06素副寺、本覺知客,領眾懷香入室,請師述行由。師云:J33nB288_p0582b07「四大非有,五蘊本空,有何行跡可狀哉?」進云:「後學規J33nB288_p0582b08模,乞垂遺訓。」師云:「從上古人如亮座主、隱山和尚,蹤J33nB288_p0582b09跡弗留,豈更行於紙墨乎?但貴諸人真參實悟,徹見J33nB288_p0582b10父母未生已前本來面目,非但山僧行狀,從上佛祖J33nB288_p0582b11根源直向諸人腳跟下一時看透,豈不快乎?」眾堅請J33nB288_p0582b12不已,師乃徐曰:「往年經歷,雁影雲蹤,遺忘多矣,聊舉J33nB288_p0582b13梗概,以塞眾請。吾蜀之順慶西充王氏也,父某,母楊J33nB288_p0582b14氏。余童年時,先父常對余曰:『我中年缺嗣,求禱於佛,J33nB288_p0582b15願得二子,一以祀先,一以侍佛。』後果如禱。一夕,先母J33nB288_p0582b16夢蒲衲僧投宿而娠,生之日,有三老比丘至家,語先J33nB288_p0582b17父曰:『聞君已生貴子,正值日光東昇,可名洪暹。』先父J33nB288_p0582b18遂因茲命名。及八歲,父即送本縣圭峰禪院禮壽庵J33nB288_p0582b19業師出家,師授諸經,讀至『自皈依佛,當願眾生體解J33nB288_p0582b20大道,發無上心』處,自云:『既然如此,讀之何為?』但好跏J33nB288_p0582b21趺兀坐,不務習學,時人呼為憨和尚。自思:『生死事大,J33nB288_p0582b22若不參訪知識,決明大事,謬為釋子,何益於世乎?』十J33nB288_p0582b23六歲,辭師行腳,再三不允。次年,師忽示寂,遂盡法門。J33nB288_p0582b24孝畢,急欲辭行,以果前願。又以先母染恙,不忍遠離,J33nB288_p0582b25因自克責。痛念道業無成,慈恩何報。即懇禱三寶,頂J33nB288_p0582b26禮《法華》尊經一部。願乞慈闈,身康病愈,同發菩提。乃J33nB288_p0582b27過一年,先母辭世。罄其衣資,嚴設道場。安厝事竟,方J33nB288_p0582b28禮峨嵋。至潼川,遇草庵五臺和尚,開示云:『切須參究,J33nB288_p0582b29決成法器。若不然,禍身未久而知。』遂即參歸,仍往覓J33nB288_p0582b30覲草庵,是處竟無蹤跡。次參含璞和尚,授以不是心,J33nB288_p0582c01不是佛,不是物話。參至數月,瘡病纏身。自愧宿業障J33nB288_p0582c02重,般若緣淺。晝夜猛志精參,少有得意忘身之快。猶J33nB288_p0582c03強隨眾出坡,又因失跌傷手。調治半年,不能全愈。先J33nB288_p0582c04父聞之,走人接回,醫治一月乃愈。仍辭先父,往彼參J33nB288_p0582c05究。不及半載,又與能師弟歸接先父,同詣含和尚處,J33nB288_p0582c06落髮受具。未及一載示寂,乃依茶毘,入塔峨山。是時J33nB288_p0582c07兵戈饑饉,叢林眾散。結甲同志數人,入於深山,共相J33nB288_p0582c08參究。惟採山蔬度日,晝夜精勤。工夫至於定中,不覺J33nB288_p0582c09有山河大地、人我物色。惟疑情未破,話頭不明。卻向J33nB288_p0582c10經教文字中,未見未聞之意,了了分明。及看《華嚴經》,J33nB288_p0582c11菩薩受用處,宛然無異。但于淆訛公案,又卻去不得。J33nB288_p0582c12晝夜慚慮,忽憶古人云:『已見未透,不遇明師,終成癡J33nB288_p0582c13狂邪解。』今經三載,不近知識,虛棄時光,徒受辛苦。即J33nB288_p0582c14于乙酉年,奮志同能師弟出山行腳,又值大兵平蜀。J33nB288_p0582c15其時荒難,升米二金,人多互相食噉,結友數人同行,J33nB288_p0582c16遂出劍關,入秦涉晉。又以冠氛梗路,同侶憚進,乃嘆J33nB288_p0582c17曰:『寧死,豈可退菩提道心耶?必欲至善知識所決明J33nB288_p0582c18大事,死無恨矣。』己丑夏,行至太原,途受困熱,苦患痢J33nB288_p0582c19疾,於道場溝晝夜百次。憶得古人於病發悟,我輩根J33nB288_p0582c20行不及,但奮死不忘參,雖身無力而心志精明,蒙主J33nB288_p0582c21人檀越道誼殷殷調治,冬季方愈。次年春,正清明交J33nB288_p0582c22鋒之際,冒兵直行覲禮五臺,又至盛京愍忠寺上普J33nB288_p0582c23下潤和尚處圓具,彼中專究毘尼,無有能決此大事J33nB288_p0582c24者。又因病目水瀉,即告辭南詢。至東魯,猶值兵難、水J33nB288_p0582c25難齊發,拚身奮志,直抵江南。首參夾山箬庵和尚處,J33nB288_p0582c26入堂打七,病目雙盲,自愧業重福輕,死不出堂必完J33nB288_p0582c27一七,及至七完,雙目全愈。我問云:『此是選佛場,心空J33nB288_p0582c28及第歸。如何是及第歸?』山云:『大眾在這裏。』我云:『恁麼J33nB288_p0582c29處處綠楊堪繫馬,家家有路透長安。』山云:『那裏是你J33nB288_p0582c30透長安處?』我便拂袖歸位。時因水難,絕糧散眾,往參J33nB288_p0583a01天童林祖。值祖已示寂,方請牧雲和尚主法,正值饑J33nB288_p0583a02饉,斗米五錢,大眾一千五百,其淡薄難可言諭。久而J33nB288_p0583a03又患脾瀉,但慶為法者多互相策進,不以苦病為障,J33nB288_p0583a04依住三年,自得工夫親切,病皆退矣。我問:『向上一著J33nB288_p0583a05則不問,非即非離意若何?』童云:『不打這葛藤。』我云:『馬J33nB288_p0583a06祖道:「即心即佛。」黃檗道:「非心非佛。」又作麼生?』童云:『東J33nB288_p0583a07西十萬,南北八千。』我云:『昔日馬祖,今朝天童。』童打一J33nB288_p0583a08拂云:『穿卻汝鼻孔。』我云:『龍得水時添意氣,虎逢山色J33nB288_p0583a09長威獰。』次因小天童弘智禪師塔院頹朽年深,夢感J33nB288_p0583a10張鎮臺重脩工完,啟請開光,尚命眾以夢感、開光作J33nB288_p0583a11法語,我呈云:『歷代老古錐,傳法震寰宇,遺跡整頹綱,J33nB288_p0583a12感夢於檀護。東谷菴然炳煥新,祖師覿面無回互,敢J33nB288_p0583a13問檀護還識祖師麼?』驀拈筆點云:『祖師法眼如千日,J33nB288_p0583a14為君指出大家看。』和尚點看,即命堂中領眾。一日,示J33nB288_p0583a15臘雪二見題,令眾作偈,我呈偈云:『一番結瑞一番寒,J33nB288_p0583a16天地凝然不二看,凍破虛空文不露,當陽惟放一毫J33nB288_p0583a17端。』童點頷之。因和尚出山,我往參雪竇奇和尚,問云:J33nB288_p0583a18『向上玄關則且置,末後一著請師通。』竇云:『汝從溈山J33nB288_p0583a19來麼?』我云:『天童、雪竇何異溈山?』竇云:『喫茶去。』我云:『不J33nB288_p0583a20勞醉後添盃。』拂袖便出。過江,參報恩琳和尚,恩問云:J33nB288_p0583a21『大千沙界海中漚,一切聖賢如電拂,且道那箇是你J33nB288_p0583a22本來面目?』我云:『萬里一條鐵。』恩云:『急走過。』我即珍重J33nB288_p0583a23歸位。又參靈隱具和尚,值上堂,我問云:『鐘未鳴,鼓未J33nB288_p0583a24響,早已葛藤露布了也,更陞此座堪作甚麼?』具云:『特J33nB288_p0583a25為闍黎。』我云:『何必畫蛇添足?』具云:『更問作麼?』我云:『也J33nB288_p0583a26要對眾證盟。』雖然,隨處機緣荅問,自覺疑情未破,見J33nB288_p0583a27地不親,奮發自誓,絕睡杜言。若不明此大事,決定罷J33nB288_p0583a28參,深藏巖谷,免玷僧倫。至第三日中夜,正疑德山未J33nB288_p0583a29後句,經行簷下,並不覺有身心,唯秪一個疑團,忽聞飛J33nB288_p0583a30來峰作樂聲,釋然頓脫胸中疑慮,始知天地同根、萬J33nB288_p0583b01物一體,從前所疑佛祖公案一一了然。即有見道偈J33nB288_p0583b02曰:『也大奇,也大奇,管樂聲吹向上機,撲碎虛空無向J33nB288_p0583b03背,倒騎鐵馬趁須彌。二大千沙界若浮萍,祖佛猶來J33nB288_p0583b04卻是塵,識破這些關捩子,一毛頭上定乾坤。三不疑J33nB288_p0583b05佛,不疑祖,大蟲元來是老虎,橫空寶劍露鋒鋩,魔佛J33nB288_p0583b06皆揮絕狐種。』其年正三十五歲,不由自愧自喜,思古J33nB288_p0583b07人一聞千悟,我輩鈍根喫許多艱辛苦,不乘其夙志,J33nB288_p0583b08安能得到今日耶?始知佛法本自現成,頭頭虛明自J33nB288_p0583b09照,從前未明公案一時頌出。及旦,呈方丈,從頭看過,J33nB288_p0583b10云:『據子知見,悟處分明,從今正宜深畜厚養,母妄出J33nB288_p0583b11頭。』我即禮拜而出。不意雪厂兄同過嘉禾參禮本師,J33nB288_p0583b12師問云:『聞汝于飛來峰撲碎鼻孔,是否?』我云:『和尚那J33nB288_p0583b13裏得這消息?』本師云:『現今贓物捉敗。』我即珍重而出,J33nB288_p0583b14即命掌副寺。一日,本師落堂,垂問云:『一喝不作一喝J33nB288_p0583b15用,諸人作麼生會?』我荅云:『覓甚麼碗?』師頷之。又因本J33nB288_p0583b16師誕日上堂,我問云:『威音那畔事,朕跡不留;兜率降J33nB288_p0583b17王宮,自揚家醜。今日和尚誕辰,未審如何指示?』師云:J33nB288_p0583b18『桂子月中落,天香雲外飄。』我云:『信步踏翻毘盧頂,管J33nB288_p0583b19教千聖落下風。』師云:『上座腳跟在甚麼處?』我便喝,師J33nB288_p0583b20云:『好喝。』我云:『莫怪渠儂多意氣,他家曾踏上頭關。』師J33nB288_p0583b21云:『重說偈言。』我云:『老老大大作恁麼語話。』師云:『又恁J33nB288_p0583b22麼去也。』我即珍重歸位。至秋,告辭執任,欲圖適意山J33nB288_p0583b23林,本師再三不允,我乞改任,遂命知藏。一日,侍立次,J33nB288_p0583b24師舉:『天童密祖垂問唯一師云:「興化道:『紫羅帳裏撒J33nB288_p0583b25珍珠。』你作麼生會?」』唯一師下語不契,『汝向這裏道一J33nB288_p0583b26句看。』我云:『滿盤托出。』本師頷笑,歸方丈。自後機緣偈J33nB288_p0583b27頌總載錄中,無更繁敘。至丙申元旦,上堂畢,示拂二J33nB288_p0583b28柄,命雪厂兄與我出位受付,自愧德微行淺,識智不J33nB288_p0583b29聰,豈敢承此大任?固辭不受。本師云:『汝各將去,他日J33nB288_p0583b30自然風雲聚會,為吾流通正法眼藏。』囑之再三,不敢J33nB288_p0583c01違師慈命,遵付作禮而退。至二月初,忽命北來訪諸J33nB288_p0583c02祖庭,即時渡江涉晉,經歷堯都,遇古羊二酉、宋大苑J33nB288_p0583c03馬,機緣相扣,遂請住霍山廣勝寺。次受汾陽滄起朱J33nB288_p0583c04太史請,住太子禪院,乃遣隱素、徹空二禪人復命芙J33nB288_p0583c05蓉。余因本師有命守志汾陽,聽其緣分,雖與眾兄弟J33nB288_p0583c06共聚相參,實非吾之本意,暫遵師命,聽其前緣。今為J33nB288_p0583c07諸人懇之再四,多少落索,一時狼藉了也。如上所說,J33nB288_p0583c08自山僧十八歲出方參學,至三十五歲頓脫疑團,釋J33nB288_p0583c09慮心歇,從前歷盡關山,受盡辛苦,單為明此一段大J33nB288_p0583c10事因緣。且問大眾:還知大事因緣麼?」良久,云:「百尺竿J33nB288_p0583c11頭重進步,十方世界現全身。珍重!勉旃!」監院領眾作J33nB288_p0583c12禮而退。
佛事
J33nB288_p0583c14天童林祖忌。拈香,云:「通玄峰頂起萬丈洪波,太白巖J33nB288_p0583c15前會五湖龍象,不遠劍閣路三千,特特南詢趨甬上,J33nB288_p0583c16誰知未到清關先已藏身北斗?雖然,爭奈鼻孔今日J33nB288_p0583c17依然落在頑孫手裏?」驀顧左右,云:「還有知其落處者J33nB288_p0583c18麼?」良久,云:「隱隱常懷舊日嫌,相見猶如不相識。」
J33nB288_p0583c19為法華禪德舉火。云:「水綠山青,玅法流通於三際;風J33nB288_p0583c20和日暖,青蓮香噴於人天。不從鷲嶺親聞,焉得汾河J33nB288_p0583c21普濟?惟此法華禪德忘形荷法,克己為人,始自汾河J33nB288_p0583c22岸上一旦相逢,既而乾明室中九年佐贊,今朝撒手J33nB288_p0583c23獨翛然,大地都盧無處著。雖然,山僧更助汝一道三J33nB288_p0583c24昧去也。」便燒。

J33nB288_p0583c29以火炬打○相,云:「淡闍黎!還會麼?般若如大火聚,四J33nB288_p0583c30邊不可湊泊。若過得者,重關子方許青霄獨步、鬧市J33nB288_p0584a01橫身;其或未會……」擸下火炬,云:「驀面來也。」
入塔
J33nB288_p0584a03「生本無生,滅亦非滅,七十餘年,化緣事畢。得旨歸根,J33nB288_p0584a04退藏於密,雲斂長空,一輪秋月。」以拄杖指骨襯云:「且J33nB288_p0584a05道者個又向甚處安著?」乃下骨云:「大地渾然無縫隙,J33nB288_p0584a06安身何處不稱尊?」
為淵白西堂舉火
J33nB288_p0584a08「淵源磬室,演化西秦,顛拈倒弄,換斗移星,駕鐵馬於J33nB288_p0584a09霄漢,騎泥牛於河汾,十年疑石霜之句,今朝決斷於J33nB288_p0584a10乾明,透出通身無影像,豁開眼界露全真。然雖如是,J33nB288_p0584a11且道葉落歸根一句合作麼生?」擲炬,云:「縱觀寫出飛J33nB288_p0584a12禽跡,徐行踏斷流水聲。」
為道安上座舉火云
J33nB288_p0584a14「大道只在目前,何須別尋蹊徑?若會大道真體,自然J33nB288_p0584a15隨處安靜。如是則生也安、死也安,秪如不生不死又J33nB288_p0584a16作麼生?」乃擸下火炬,云:「臘月蓮華火裏看。」
為雲谷沙彌火名常清
J33nB288_p0584a18「常光三昧,清淨本然,體遍十方,了無去住。」以火打○J33nB288_p0584a19相,云:「會麼?隨處風流無背向,腳頭腳底總西方。苟或J33nB288_p0584a20未然,山僧重為指出。」擲炬,云:「一片白雲消散外,孤輪J33nB288_p0584a21皎潔印千江。」
為天鵝火
J33nB288_p0584a23「心佛眾生原不二,覺迷幻妄有形差,杖頭撥出通天J33nB288_p0584a24竅,任運風流沒一些。」舉炬,云:「會麼?直下明明無背向,J33nB288_p0584a25鳳雛越格是生涯。」
雜著
J33nB288_p0584b02進退之鑑
J33nB288_p0584b03夫上古住持進退,則鑑宜時當。然寄四大浮囊於三J33nB288_p0584b04界海中,若太倉之粒粟,其驟進勇退,雖千萬里,何利J33nB288_p0584b05害云乎哉?良由人情好惡不等,進亦是非,退亦是非,J33nB288_p0584b06人不能遠鑑至理,動為是非所惑,一進一退,惟任妄J33nB288_p0584b07情,卒無所主。惟聖賢則不然,其進必以道,則思所以J33nB288_p0584b08濟人;其退必以道,則思所以補過。其餘進退之頃,雖J33nB288_p0584b09百折挫,而浩然無憂,較之卒無所主者,何如哉?其或J33nB288_p0584b10于榮冒寵,孳孳為一己之謀者,進則與業會,退則為J33nB288_p0584b11情轉,是非之跡,動輒紛然,因果之招,凜然莫隱。道人J33nB288_p0584b12於進退,寧容無擇焉?原夫聖人洞窺理底,存實於中,J33nB288_p0584b13惟恐斯須或忘之也。是故于無量劫,專求至道,乃破J33nB288_p0584b14生死魔,而返靈源之實也。逮今時遷物變,為道人疏,J33nB288_p0584b15淪溺情海,勿求出心,究竟為冤,彼此何益?嗚呼!大聖J33nB288_p0584b16尚慈憫,設千萬接引之方,亦且未拔眾生之苦,我何J33nB288_p0584b17人哉,豈可不退隱乎?
