J29nB246_p0777a02拈花之旨,雲廓天布,揚光續J29nB246_p0777a03燄,代不乏人。惟南嶽至臨濟J29nB246_p0777a04獨名正傳,而宗風大振於虎J29nB246_p0777a05丘,隆盛於徑山範。而範之嫡J29nB246_p0777a06嗣曰斷橋倫祖,倫十四傳為J29nB246_p0777a07普明用祖。我永正法叔一老J29nB246_p0777a08和尚,迺普明嫡子,敬嚴祖道,J29nB246_p0777a09弘闡大猷,座下親炙磨光多J29nB246_p0777a10至一二十秋,未輒放行。今法J29nB246_p0777a11兄斷愚大師得骨得髓,為永J29nB246_p0777a12正墮地獅兒,恂恂篤實,事師J29nB246_p0777a13孝謹。其自處固凜凜然若冰J29nB246_p0777a14雪,至于接物導生,則又春風J29nB246_p0777a15回大塊,一木一草咸欣欣。有J29nB246_p0777a16得宜師囑累之偈,有「嚴持戒J29nB246_p0777a17律若冰霜,竭盡忠心輔祖綱」J29nB246_p0777a18之句,所由然矣。及讀《退菴語J29nB246_p0777b01錄》,則一一胸襟流出,妙在殺J29nB246_p0777b02活縱橫,超脫自在,絕不蹈襲J29nB246_p0777b03行過舊徑。出一言,著著有為J29nB246_p0777b04人爪牙;吐一句,的的示衲僧J29nB246_p0777b05家作略。與學者抽釘拔楔,奪J29nB246_p0777b06食驅耕,如九轉靈丹立地,令J29nB246_p0777b07人轉凡成聖。若非深澈乎源J29nB246_p0777b08底,則性海翻瀾,波光際天,詎J29nB246_p0777b09能若是耶?蓋此一莖花,自瞿J29nB246_p0777b10曇拈後數千餘稔,擲在糞掃J29nB246_p0777b11堆頭,被我斷兄拾起,舉似十J29nB246_p0777b12方,暗香觸鼻,疏影撩人,其誰J29nB246_p0777b13為破顏者?

J29nB246_p0778a02 J29nB246_p0778a03康熙甲辰臘月望日,眾檀護請陞座。僧問:「如何是奪J29nB246_p0778a04人不奪境?」師云:「徑僻遊郎絕,林深月影遲。」進云:「如何J29nB246_p0778a05是奪境不奪人?」師云:「芟除閒草木,腳下迥無私。」進云:J29nB246_p0778a06「如何是人境兩俱奪?」師云:「不存車馬跡,豈立主賓儀?」J29nB246_p0778a07進云:「如何是人境俱不奪?」師云:「客來呈舊面,花落長J29nB246_p0778a08新枝。」進云:「人境已蒙師指示,向上宗乘事若何?」師便J29nB246_p0778a09打。進云:「恁麼則祖燈恒不墜,烜赫利人天。」師云:「闍黎J29nB246_p0778a10分上作麼生?」僧一喝,便禮拜,師復打,乃云:「萬里無雲J29nB246_p0778a11徹骨寒,一輪紅日上層巒,秪因檀護慇懃請,勉向當J29nB246_p0778a12陽露一斑。」遂舉拂子云:「會麼?若喚者個作境,要且蹉J29nB246_p0778a13過山僧;若喚者個作人,爭奈不識拂子;若喚者個作J29nB246_p0778a14人境兩俱奪,正如掩耳偷鈴;若喚者個作人境俱不J29nB246_p0778a15奪,亦似空華病眼。所以,世尊說法四十九年,末後靈J29nB246_p0778a16山會上全提此事,故初祖西來,不立文字,直指人心,J29nB246_p0778a17見性成佛。」復舉拂子云:「若向者裡擔荷得去,恁麼也J29nB246_p0778a18得、不恁麼也得、恁麼不恁麼總得,天上有星皆拱北,J29nB246_p0778a19人間無水不朝東;設或未然,曹溪波浪如相似,無限J29nB246_p0778a20平人被陸沉。」拂一拂。
J29nB246_p0778a21復舉:「斷橋倫祖上堂,云:『荊山有玉,獲得者不在荊山;J29nB246_p0778a22赤水有珠,拾得者不在赤水;衲僧有無位真人,證得J29nB246_p0778a23者出入不在面門。』驀拈拄杖橫按,云:『會麼?幽州江口J29nB246_p0778a24石人蹲。』」師云:「倫祖雖則提持親切,顯發慈悲,未免令J29nB246_p0778a25人智境兩立。退菴即不然,荊山有玉,獲得者妙淨瑩J29nB246_p0778a26潔;赤水有珠,拾得者圓明洞澈;衲僧有無位真人,證J29nB246_p0778a27得者出入本無途轍。」驀拈拄杖卓一下,云:「會麼?大地J29nB246_p0778a28山河一片雪。」喝一喝,下座。
J29nB246_p0778a29誕日,眾檀信設齋,請陞座。僧問:「如何是賓中賓?」師云:J29nB246_p0778a30「縱步踏紅塵。」進云:「如何是賓中主?」師云:「行行皇化裡。」J29nB246_p0778b01進云:「如何是主中賓?」師云:「攜杖指迷津。」進云:「如何是J29nB246_p0778b02主中主?」師云:「堂堂誰敢觸?」進云:「吾師誕日,四眾雲臻,J29nB246_p0778b03向上一句又作麼生?」師便打。進云:「恁麼則壽量超群J29nB246_p0778b04象,家風出眾儔。」師云:「汝更道看。」僧一喝,歸眾。師云:「拄J29nB246_p0778b05杖子笑你在。」乃云:「有愧劬勞產我身,欲酬罔極復何J29nB246_p0778b06伸?鐵牛踏破千山雪,石女敲開不二門。一著先天須J29nB246_p0778b07委悉,半肩碎衲漫疏親,冰河燄起非常事,枯木花開J29nB246_p0778b08劫外春。」舉拂子,云:「如是會得,則遍界無蹤跡,全身絕J29nB246_p0778b09覆藏,能為萬象主,不逐四時忙,千聖皆同證,森羅共J29nB246_p0778b10舉揚,四恩咸可報,三有悉蒙光。便能拈一莖草作丈J29nB246_p0778b11六金身,將丈六金身作一莖草,於無佛處現佛攝化J29nB246_p0778b12有情,以無法處說法令歸正覺,轉山河國土歸自己,J29nB246_p0778b13淨盡無餘;轉自己向山河國土,縱橫自在。全賓即主、J29nB246_p0778b14全主即賓,然後一為無量、無量為一,塵塵爾、剎剎爾,J29nB246_p0778b15如精金百煉,赤體純真;似皎月騰輝,圓明無礙。雖然,J29nB246_p0778b16猶未是空劫已前面目在。秪如今日蒙眾慶誕一句J29nB246_p0778b17且止,作麼生是空劫已前面目?」復舉拂子,云:「從來佛J29nB246_p0778b18眼難窺覷,透出威音更那邊。」喝一喝。
J29nB246_p0778b19復舉:「長沙景岑禪師因僧問:『如何轉得山河國土歸J29nB246_p0778b20自己去?』沙曰:『如何轉得自己成山河國土去?』僧曰:『不J29nB246_p0778b21會。』沙曰:『湖南城下好養民,米賤柴多足四鄰。』僧無語。J29nB246_p0778b22沙乃示偈曰:『誰問山河轉?山河轉向誰?圓通無兩畔,J29nB246_p0778b23法性本無歸。』」師云:「岑老還丹不吝,空施點鐵之功;者J29nB246_p0778b24僧其力未充,徒有吞吳之志。有問退菴:『如何轉得山J29nB246_p0778b25河國土歸自己去?』即向他道:『恰好。』更問:『如何轉得自J29nB246_p0778b26己成山河國土去?』亦對他道:『恰好。』若人透得者兩轉J29nB246_p0778b27語,不唯雙眼圓明,管取丹霄獨步;其或未然,氣逼殺J29nB246_p0778b28人。」卓拄杖一下,下座。
J29nB246_p0778b29陞座。舉:「德山一日飯遲,托缽至法堂。因風起浪。雪峰J29nB246_p0778b30曰:『者老漢!鐘未鳴、鼓未響,托缽向甚麼處去?』當面蹉J29nB246_p0778c01過。山便低頭歸方丈。藏身露影。峰舉似巖頭。納敗不J29nB246_p0778c02少。頭曰:『大小德山未會末後句在。』打草驚蛇。山聞,令J29nB246_p0778c03侍者喚巖頭,問:『汝不肯老僧那?』作賊人心虛。頭密啟J29nB246_p0778c04其意。一釣便上。山明日上堂,果與尋常不同。殺人刀、J29nB246_p0778c05活人劍。頭曰:『且喜老漢會末後句。』塗污人不少。『雖然,J29nB246_p0778c06也秪得三年活。』伎倆已盡。山果三年而歿。疑殺天下J29nB246_p0778c07人。大眾!者一隊漢總被退菴捉敗了也,且作麼生是J29nB246_p0778c08末後句?」驀拈拄杖,卓一卓、喝一喝,云:「然雖如是,更聽J29nB246_p0778c09一偈:『因風起浪入雲堂,一片婆心絕覆藏,雪老惜乎J29nB246_p0778c10已蹉過,奯公多口妄施張。低頭歸室全披露,攜杖登J29nB246_p0778c11壇重舉揚,末後三年渾漏洩,豁開宗眼漫摶量。』」復卓J29nB246_p0778c12拄杖,下座。
J29nB246_p0778c13陞座。僧問:「如何是退菴境?」師云:「古木沖霄漢,煙霞達J29nB246_p0778c14遠村。」進云:「如何是境中人?」師云:「覿體無回互,當軒為J29nB246_p0778c15指陳。」僧禮拜,師便打。問:「永正老人道:『寒灰當發燄,枯J29nB246_p0778c16木也花開。』是甚麼人分上事?」師便打。進云:「恁麼則臨J29nB246_p0778c17濟家聲振,長溪面目新。」師云:「腳跟下更須喫棒。」僧便J29nB246_p0778c18喝,師復打。乃舉:「南明和尚示眾云:『五峰頭卓朔,雙徑J29nB246_p0778c19尾顛先,喝石巖一任𨁝跳,明月池覆地傾天。此四句J29nB246_p0778c20中,有一句有殺人刀、無活人劍,有一句有活人劍、無J29nB246_p0778c21殺人刀,有一句殺人刀、活人劍俱有,有一句殺人刀、J29nB246_p0778c22活人劍俱無,揀點得倜儻分明,許你參學事畢。』」師云:J29nB246_p0778c23「退菴亦有四句舉似大眾,非敢與南祖爭英,貴圖兩J29nB246_p0778c24彩一賽。『溪水翻銀浪,庭梅笑晚香,寒鴉鳴落日,清罄J29nB246_p0778c25響叢篁。』此四句中,有一句有賓無主,有一句有主無J29nB246_p0778c26賓,有一句賓主交參,有一句賓主迥絕。然雖如是,要J29nB246_p0778c27見南祖則易,要見退菴則難。若能撿辨得出,秪可且J29nB246_p0778c28居門外;如或謬亂指陳,何止白雲萬里。設有個漢知J29nB246_p0778c29得山僧恩、入得山僧室,正好朝打三千、暮打八百。且J29nB246_p0778c30道山僧畢竟有何超卓?」驀拈拄杖,云:「掀倒上重關捩J29nB246_p0779a01子,出頭天外更誰知?」卓一卓,下座。
除夕,小參。僧問:「年窮歲盡時如何?」師云:「明日是新正。」J29nB246_p0779a03進云:「恁麼則大家齊拱賀,遍界樂昇平也。」師云:「且緩J29nB246_p0779a04緩。」僧一喝,歸眾。師云:「放你三十棒。」乃舉:「北禪智賢禪J29nB246_p0779a05師曰:『年窮歲盡,無可與諸人分歲,老僧烹一頭露地J29nB246_p0779a06白牛,炊黍米飯、煮野菜羹、燒榾柮火,大家喫了唱村J29nB246_p0779a07田樂。何故?免見倚他門戶傍他墻,剛被時人喚作郎。』J29nB246_p0779a08下座,歸方丈。至夜深,維那至方丈問訊,曰:『縣裡有公J29nB246_p0779a09人到。』賢曰:『作甚麼?』那曰:『道和尚宰牛不納皮角。』賢遂J29nB246_p0779a10捋下頭帽擲地上,那便拾去,賢下禪床擒住,曰:『賊!賊!』J29nB246_p0779a11那將帽覆賢頂,曰:『天寒,且還和尚。』賢呵呵大笑,那出J29nB246_p0779a12去。時法昌為侍者,賢顧昌曰:『者公案作麼生?』昌曰:『潭J29nB246_p0779a13州紙貴,一狀領過。』」師云:「北禪雖則片片赤心,未免傍J29nB246_p0779a14觀者哂。維那向虎頷下捋鬚,也是陣後興兵。唯有法J29nB246_p0779a15昌較些子,蝦跳不出斗,總把龜毛繩子束向一邊子J29nB246_p0779a16也。退菴即不然,家風澹泊,無可與諸人分歲,秪得麥J29nB246_p0779a17飯黃虀喫了,一任經行打坐。何故?」卓拄杖,云:「道泰不J29nB246_p0779a18傳天子令,時清休唱太平歌。」下座。
J29nB246_p0779a19小參。「不用如何若何,便請單刀直入。有麼?有麼?」一僧J29nB246_p0779a20纔出,師劈脊便打,僧云:「某甲話也未問,因甚便打?」師J29nB246_p0779a21云:「者漆桶話頭也不識。」僧喝,師復打。又僧出,師亦打,J29nB246_p0779a22云:「且道者棒賞你?罰你?」僧擬語,師又打。又僧出,師打,J29nB246_p0779a23云:「討甚麼碗?」僧無語,師亦打。乃云:「若是伶俐漢,道頭J29nB246_p0779a24知尾便合休去,何更要師家添鹽添醬?適來僧纔出,J29nB246_p0779a25山僧便打,且道意在於何?要汝等直下承當省力去,J29nB246_p0779a26何必登山涉險、帶水拖泥,出一叢林、進一保社,三根J29nB246_p0779a27椽下、七尺單前,磨褌擦褲、廢寢忘餐,討許多生受喫。」J29nB246_p0779a28卓拄杖,云:「還委悉麼?若委悉得,始知釋迦不先、彌勒J29nB246_p0779a29不後,達磨不來東土、二祖不往西天;若不委悉,大有J29nB246_p0779a30事在,莫道山僧不道好。」復卓拄杖,下座。
示眾
J29nB246_p0779b02佛誕,示眾。舉:「世尊初生,一手指天,一手指地,周行七J29nB246_p0779b03步,目顧四方,曰:『天上天下,唯吾獨尊。』雲門曰:『我當時J29nB246_p0779b04若見,一棒打殺與狗子喫,貴圖天下太平。』」師云:「黃面J29nB246_p0779b05瞿曇纔生下地,示大人相作獅子吼,怎奈藏頭露尾?J29nB246_p0779b06雲門正令雖行,要且腳跟未點地在。退菴恁麼道,還J29nB246_p0779b07有為古人雪屈者麼?」卓拄杖,云:「鶴有九皋難翥翼,馬J29nB246_p0779b08無千里漫追風。」
J29nB246_p0779b09示眾。舉:「世尊靈山會上拈起一華顧視大眾,時百萬J29nB246_p0779b10人天盡皆罔措,唯金色頭陀破顏微笑。世尊曰:『吾有J29nB246_p0779b11正法眼藏、涅槃妙心、實相無相微妙法門,付囑摩訶J29nB246_p0779b12迦葉。』」師云:「世尊向虛空裡釘橛,爭奈百萬人天不覺J29nB246_p0779b13頂門痛,尊者破顏微笑、眼中著楔。且道退菴又作麼J29nB246_p0779b14生?」舉拂子,云:「男兒自有沖天志,豈向他人行處行?」
J29nB246_p0779b15示眾。舉:「世尊陞座,大眾集定,文殊白椎曰:『諦觀法王J29nB246_p0779b16法,法王法如是。』世尊便下座。」師云:「世尊大似一座須J29nB246_p0779b17彌山子,囫圇無縫,卻被文殊一椎擊碎了也,直得大J29nB246_p0779b18地眾生髑髏敲磕。且道退菴又作麼生?」舉拂子云:「將J29nB246_p0779b19此深心奉塵剎,是則名為報佛恩。」擊禪床,便起。
J29nB246_p0779b20示眾。舉:「世尊在第六天說《大集經》,敕他方此土、人間J29nB246_p0779b21天上一切獰惡鬼神悉皆集會,受佛付囑,擁護正法。J29nB246_p0779b22設有不赴者,四天門王飛熱鐵輪追之令集。既集會J29nB246_p0779b23已,無有不順佛敕者,各發弘誓,擁護正法。唯有一魔J29nB246_p0779b24王謂世尊曰:『瞿曇!我待一切眾生成佛,盡眾生界空,J29nB246_p0779b25無有眾生名字,我乃發菩提心。』」師云:「世尊休去,雷音J29nB246_p0779b26大震。魔王將謂出一頭地,殊不知弄巧成拙,好與三J29nB246_p0779b27十拄杖。何故?暗裡抽橫骨,明中坐舌頭,佛魔俱屏跡,J29nB246_p0779b28脫體自風流。」喝一喝。
J29nB246_p0779b29示眾。舉:「世尊示隨色摩尼珠,問五方天王:『此珠而作J29nB246_p0779b30何色?』時五方天王互說異色。世尊藏珠,復抬手曰:『此J29nB246_p0779c01珠作何色?』天王曰:『佛手中無珠,何處有色?』世尊曰:『汝J29nB246_p0779c02何迷倒之甚?吾將世珠示之,便強說有青、黃、赤、白色;J29nB246_p0779c03吾將真珠示之,便總不知。』時五方天王悉自悟道。」師J29nB246_p0779c04云:「大小世尊,話作兩橛,檢點將來,猶欠慈悲。雖然,天J29nB246_p0779c05王悟去,堪作甚麼?退菴若作世尊,各與三十拄杖。何J29nB246_p0779c06也?殺人刀,活人劍。」
J29nB246_p0779c07示眾。舉:「達磨大師一日命門人日:『時將至矣,汝等盍J29nB246_p0779c08各言所得乎?』時有道副對日:『如我所見,不執文字,不J29nB246_p0779c09離文字,而為道用。』祖曰:『汝得吾皮。』尼總持曰:『我今所J29nB246_p0779c10解,如慶喜見阿[門@(人/人)]佛國,一見更不再見。』祖曰:『汝得吾J29nB246_p0779c11肉。』道育曰:『四大本空,五陰非有,如我見處,無一法可J29nB246_p0779c12當情。』祖曰:『汝得吾骨。』最後慧可出,但禮拜依位而立。J29nB246_p0779c13祖曰:『汝得吾髓。』乃傳衣付法。」師云:「初祖昔年脫空謾J29nB246_p0779c14語,賺他個個承虛接響,直饒二祖禮拜依位而立,未J29nB246_p0779c15免亦被塗污。退菴既自為他兒孫,且道有甚長處,敢J29nB246_p0779c16恁麼道?」擲拄杖,云:「意氣不從天地得,精金那復帶泥J29nB246_p0779c17沙?」喝一喝,便起。
J29nB246_p0779c18示眾。舉:「六祖大師曰:『吾有一物,無頭無尾,無名無字,J29nB246_p0779c19無背無面,諸人還識麼?』神會出眾曰:『是諸法之本源,J29nB246_p0779c20神會之佛性。』」師云:「六祖大師如將一口縵天網子撒J29nB246_p0779c21向當陽了也,可惜荷澤自甘投入。若是退菴,待恁麼J29nB246_p0779c22道,即便掀倒禪床,喝散大眾,不獨慶快平生,亦使後J29nB246_p0779c23昆盡皆灑灑落落。」遂作舞,歸方丈。
J29nB246_p0779c24示眾。舉:「汾州無業禪師曰:『一毫頭聖凡情念未盡,未J29nB246_p0779c25免入驢胎馬腹裡去。』白雲端曰:『直饒一毫頭聖凡情J29nB246_p0779c26念頓盡,亦未免入驢胎馬腹裡去。』」師云:「一人放行中J29nB246_p0779c27把住,一人把住中放行。若也檢點得出,一任驢胎馬J29nB246_p0779c28腹裡得大自在。其或未然,切莫帶累山僧好。」卓拄杖J29nB246_p0779c29一下。
J29nB246_p0779c30示眾。舉:「水潦和尚問馬祖:『如何是西來的的意?』祖曰:J29nB246_p0780a01『禮拜著。』潦拜下,祖乃當胸踏倒,潦忽契悟,撫掌呵呵J29nB246_p0780a02大笑曰:『也大奇,也大奇,百千三昧、無量妙義,秪向一J29nB246_p0780a03毫頭上識得根源去。』住後,每謂眾曰:『自從一喫馬師J29nB246_p0780a04踏,直至如今笑不休。』」師拈拄杖召眾云:「若向者裡會J29nB246_p0780a05去,不惟省力,要且看破水潦。如或未然,聽取一頌:『水J29nB246_p0780a06潦參馬祖,拜倒喫一踏,百千妙義門,從此都抹殺。』」卓J29nB246_p0780a07一下云:「不抹殺,萬古清風無阻闔。」便起。
J29nB246_p0780a08示眾。舉:「趙州從諗禪師曰:『念佛一聲,漱口三日。』」師云:J29nB246_p0780a09「大小趙州,眼不能著屑,量不能容人。退菴即不然,錦J29nB246_p0780a10上舖花非分外,縱橫無處不稱尊。且道趙州底是?退J29nB246_p0780a11菴底是?或有個出來道:『富嫌千口少,貧恨一身多。』山J29nB246_p0780a12僧與伊一棒,直須是個人始得。何故?重賞之下,要求J29nB246_p0780a13勇夫。」卓拄杖便起。
J29nB246_p0780a14示眾。舉:「臨濟大師上堂曰:『赤肉團上有一無位真人,J29nB246_p0780a15常在諸人面門出入,未證據者看看。』時有僧出問:『如J29nB246_p0780a16何是無位真人?』濟下禪床搊住曰:『道!道!』僧擬議,濟托J29nB246_p0780a17開曰:『無位真人是什麼乾屎橛?』」師云:「臨濟大師豁開J29nB246_p0780a18無位真人面目,立地令人證據,卻被者僧一拶,直得J29nB246_p0780a19壁立萬仞,更為下個註腳,轉見婆心。者僧不顧危亡,J29nB246_p0780a20挺身而上,其奈有眼如盲,負恩不少。若是退菴,者僧J29nB246_p0780a21纔問,和聲便棒。何故?不見道:『為人須為徹,殺人須見J29nB246_p0780a22血。』且道與古人相去多少?具眼者辨看。」
J29nB246_p0780a23示眾。舉:「香嚴開法時,溈山遣僧送書并拄杖到,嚴接J29nB246_p0780a24得,曰:『蒼天!蒼天!』僧便問:『和尚為甚如此?』嚴曰:『秪為春J29nB246_p0780a25行冬令。』」師云:「大小香嚴把不住,被拄杖子轉不得,者J29nB246_p0780a26僧一拶,幾乎屈辱大溈。雖然,還知退菴落處麼?」拍膝,J29nB246_p0780a27下座。
J29nB246_p0780a28示眾。舉:「夾山上堂曰:『我二十年住此山,未曾舉著宗J29nB246_p0780a29門中事。』僧便問:『承聞和尚有言:「二十年住此山,未曾J29nB246_p0780a30舉著宗門中事。」是否?』山曰:『是。』僧便掀倒禪床,山休去。J29nB246_p0780b01明日普請,掘一坑,令侍者請昨日問話僧至,曰:『老僧J29nB246_p0780b02二十年秪說無義語,今請上座打殺老僧,埋向坑裡。J29nB246_p0780b03便請!便請!若不打殺老僧,上座自著打殺,埋向坑裡J29nB246_p0780b04始得。』其僧歸堂,束裝潛去。」師云:「夾山掘坑驗人,不知J29nB246_p0780b05禍出私門;者僧挨身白刃,其奈有前無後。當時若作J29nB246_p0780b06者僧,待夾山恁麼道,乃撫掌大笑,云:『大眾!看者老漢J29nB246_p0780b07轉見敗闕。』非唯自有出身之路,管取夾山一場懡㦬。J29nB246_p0780b08然雖如是,且作麼生為夾山出氣?」卓拄杖,云:「渠儂語J29nB246_p0780b09脈超玄路,縱奪偏能得自由。」
J29nB246_p0780b10示眾。舉:「三聖上堂曰:『我逢人即出,出則不為人。』便下J29nB246_p0780b11座。興化曰:『我即不然,逢人即不出,出則便為人。』」師云:J29nB246_p0780b12「一人半路抽身,一人就窠打劫。二老發揚臨濟宗旨,J29nB246_p0780b13雖則力挽千鈞、光生八極,要且未有向上事在。秪如J29nB246_p0780b14退菴恁麼道,大眾還甘麼?」以拄杖一時打散。
J29nB246_p0780b15示眾。舉:「郢州芭蕉慧清禪師上堂,拈拄杖曰:『你有拄J29nB246_p0780b16杖子,我與你拄杖子;你無拄杖子,奪卻你拄杖子。』下J29nB246_p0780b17座。大溈曰:『你有拄杖子,我奪你拄杖子;你無拄杖子,J29nB246_p0780b18我與你拄杖子。』」師云:「芭蕉扶強不輔弱,大溈輔弱不J29nB246_p0780b19扶強。退菴即不然,你有拄杖子,我不與不奪;你無拄J29nB246_p0780b20杖子,我不奪不與。何故聻?」卓拄杖云:「本來此事無餘J29nB246_p0780b21欠,好肉何須更挖瘡?」
J29nB246_p0780b22示眾。舉:「斷橋倫祖參徑山無準和尚,山以『狗子因何J29nB246_p0780b23有業識』命下語,凡三十轉皆不契。祖曰:『可無方便乎?』J29nB246_p0780b24山舉真淨頌:『言有業識在,誰云意不深?海枯終見底,J29nB246_p0780b25人死不知心。』祖悚然良久,忽聞板聲,大悟。」師云:「徑山J29nB246_p0780b26正如倚勢欺人,倫祖亦似無繩自縛,幸爾拈得個鐵J29nB246_p0780b27蒺藜子,直得頭破血淋,未免殃及兒孫,徹骨徹髓。退J29nB246_p0780b28菴今日忍俊不禁,拋在搕𢶍堆頭了也。」遂高聲召云:J29nB246_p0780b29「諸人還見麼?」擲拄杖,下座。
J29nB246_p0780b30端陽,示眾。「鄉城戶戶換新符,野衲蕭然迥舊模,冷落J29nB246_p0780c01雲廚無黍粽,聊將盃茗代菖蒲。大眾!山僧恁麼道,且J29nB246_p0780c02道是世諦耶?是佛法耶?謂是世諦,退菴既為佛祖兒J29nB246_p0780c03孫,爭合恁麼?道是佛法,秪如大眾又見個甚麼道理?」J29nB246_p0780c04乃卓拄杖一下,云:「會麼?粉骨碎身未足酬,一句了然J29nB246_p0780c05超百億。」喝一喝,便起。
J29nB246_p0780c06示眾。舉:「華頂無見先睹禪師因白雲度問:『西來密意J29nB246_p0780c07未審如何?』頂曰:『待娑羅峰點頭即向汝道。』雲以手搖J29nB246_p0780c08拽擬答,頂便喝,雲曰:『娑羅峰頂白浪滔天,花開芒種J29nB246_p0780c09後,葉落立秋前。』頂曰:『我家無殘羹剩飯也。』雲曰:『此非J29nB246_p0780c10殘羹剩飯而何?』頂頷之。」師云:「華頂掀翻地軸,白雲掣J29nB246_p0780c11轉天關,雖然當處風光,其奈末稍鈍置。退菴今日要J29nB246_p0780c12與二老漢雪屈。」舉拄杖云:「白雲盡處見青山,行人更J29nB246_p0780c13在青山外。」卓一下,便起。
J29nB246_p0780c14示眾。舉:「大崗澄禪師凡見僧請益,乃曰:『佛法不是鮮J29nB246_p0780c15魚,怕爛卻那?』即趁出。夷峰寧侍傍,忽大悟。」師云:「大崗J29nB246_p0780c16老人見僧請益,便湧出一座鐵壁銀山,實是險崤孤J29nB246_p0780c17峻,無人能搆。夷峰當時失腳一跌,直得通身粉碎。且J29nB246_p0780c18道還有相救者麼?」以兩手作托勢,云:「遏遮來。」
J29nB246_p0780c19示眾。舉:「天目寶芳進禪師曰:『拈花微笑,節外生枝;面J29nB246_p0780c20壁安心,畫蛇添足。山僧者裡無禪可參、無道可學,直J29nB246_p0780c21教一個個成佛作祖去。汝等還信得及麼?』良久,拍膝,J29nB246_p0780c22曰:『劍號巨闕,玉出崑崗。』」師云:「天目老漢雖則赤心片J29nB246_p0780c23片,爭奈龍頭蛇尾。退菴即不然,我者裡無禪可參、無J29nB246_p0780c24道可學,直教一個個灑灑落落去。諸人還肯麼?」拈拄J29nB246_p0780c25杖,一時趁散。
J29nB246_p0780c26示眾。舉:「徑山無幻沖和尚編無趣老人錄歸,趣曰:『子J29nB246_p0780c27一向做得個甚麼?』山曰:『性沖買得一段田,收得原本J29nB246_p0780c28契書,請和尚僉押。』乃將錄呈上,趣接得曰:『者個是我J29nB246_p0780c29底,你底聻?』山曰:『和尚莫攙行奪市。』趣擲下錄本,山便J29nB246_p0780c30出。」師云:「父子投機,與奪自在,然雖足可觀光,其奈露J29nB246_p0781a01柱不肯。大眾!且道淆訛在甚麼處?」驀拈拄杖卓一下,J29nB246_p0781a02便起。
J29nB246_p0781a03示眾。舉:「興善南明廣和尚因聞谷大師問:『了即業障J29nB246_p0781a04本來空,未了應須償宿債。因甚獅子尊者被罽賓國J29nB246_p0781a05王斬卻?』南曰:『本來空。』聞曰:『為什麼王臂自落?』南曰:『本J29nB246_p0781a06來空。』聞曰:『和尚意旨如何?』南曰:『本來空。』」師云:「匋山激J29nB246_p0781a07揚個事,舉古明今;興善直指當機,轉凡成聖。且道畢J29nB246_p0781a08竟意旨如何?」以拂子劃一劃,云:「莫錯會好。」
J29nB246_p0781a09示眾。舉:「普明鴛湖老人謁湛然和尚,問:『目前無法,意J29nB246_p0781a10在目前,其旨如何?』湛曰:『聞令師出關,是否?』湖曰:『不是J29nB246_p0781a11目前法,非耳目之所到,又作麼生?』湛揖曰:『請出,我要J29nB246_p0781a12止靜。』湖便出。」師云:「言中有響,句裡藏鋒,收放同時,主J29nB246_p0781a13賓互換,如兩鏡相照,二日並輝。然雖如是,且道離諸J29nB246_p0781a14問答又作麼生與二老相見?」遂拽拄杖,下座。
J29nB246_p0781a15示眾。舉拄杖云:「古人道:『識得拄杖子,參學事畢。』退菴J29nB246_p0781a16即不然,識得拄杖子,正好喫棒。且道因甚如此?」乃卓J29nB246_p0781a17一下云:「太平本是將軍致,不許將軍建太平。」便起。
J29nB246_p0781a18示眾。舉:「鴛湖老人同雪嶠大師上弦夜翫月次,嶠指J29nB246_p0781a19月問:『那半個在那裡去了?』湖良久,曰:『會麼?』嶠曰:『也秪J29nB246_p0781a20得半個。』湖卻問:『那半個在那裡去了?』嶠亦良久,湖曰:J29nB246_p0781a21『也秪得半個。』嶠乃呵呵大笑。」師云:「二老為那半個費J29nB246_p0781a22卻許多腕頭力作麼?者裡若有問:『那半個在那裡去J29nB246_p0781a23了?』但舉拳,云:『鑑他更如何?』劈面便掌。」一僧出,師打一J29nB246_p0781a24棒,便歸方丈。
J29nB246_p0781a25示眾。舉:「石雨和尚舉:『鴛湖老人拈瑞巖主人公話曰:J29nB246_p0781a26「白日青天作夢,夢中頻喚主人,直饒惺惺諾諾,也是J29nB246_p0781a27無主孤魂。」』問眾曰:『瑞巖是了手底人,為甚他道是無J29nB246_p0781a28主孤魂?不知瑞巖過在甚麼處?』眾下語不契,復曰:『莫J29nB246_p0781a29道無人激發好。』」師云:「橫身舉唱,盡力拈提,則不無二J29nB246_p0781a30大老,要且蹉過瑞巖。秪如退菴恁麼道,意作麼生?」乃J29nB246_p0781b01卓拄杖,云:「不圖打草,秪要驚蛇。」
J29nB246_p0781b02示眾。舉:「永正老和尚晚參,曰:『日間圊頭請浴,山僧向J29nB246_p0781b03他道:「道得即去。」頭擬議,山僧道:「恁麼則不浴也。」行者J29nB246_p0781b04曰:「請和尚脫腳。」山僧便去。大眾!若道行者是,則認奴J29nB246_p0781b05作郎;若道圊頭不是,又扶強抑弱;若道二人俱是,正J29nB246_p0781b06是顢頇佛性,儱侗真如;若道二俱不是,且道因甚不J29nB246_p0781b07從圊頭請,卻依行者去?試定當看。』眾無語,乃卓拄杖,J29nB246_p0781b08曰:『選佛若無如是眼,為人難破死生關。』喝一喝,便起。」J29nB246_p0781b09師云:「者老漢三百六十骨節、八萬四千毫竅,盡情對J29nB246_p0781b10眾抖擻了也,惜乎未得其人。是晚,智上座若在,便出J29nB246_p0781b11眾禮拜,云:『恩大難酬。』非唯不負洪慈,亦且要與老漢J29nB246_p0781b12相見。退菴恁麼道,還有恁麼人麼?」良久,云:「為惜當年J29nB246_p0781b13垂釣叟,於今布網又空施。」拽拄杖便起。
J29nB246_p0781b14示眾。以拂子拂,云:「還見麼?眼如葡萄朵,決定是見。」擊J29nB246_p0781b15禪床,云:「還聞麼?耳如新捲葉,一定是聞。當時靈雲見J29nB246_p0781b16桃華、香嚴聞擊竹,便乃悟去。秪如退菴恁麼老婆,因J29nB246_p0781b17甚諸人未得瞥地?秪為背覺合塵,不肯回光返照。所J29nB246_p0781b18以道:『把手勸君行不得,唯人自肯乃方親。』敢問大眾:J29nB246_p0781b19還有自肯者麼?好與山僧提瓶挈杖。何故如此?」復以J29nB246_p0781b20拂子打○○○,下座。
機緣
J29nB246_p0781b22僧問:「大悲千手眼,那一隻是正眼?」師云:「煙籠岸柳枝J29nB246_p0781b23枝綠。」僧云:「不會。」師云:「雨洗溪桃朵朵紅。」僧禮拜云:「蒙J29nB246_p0781b24和尚指示。」師云:「錯認定盤星。」
J29nB246_p0781b25師問僧:「死了、燒了向什麼處去?」僧云:「者裡去。」師云:「不J29nB246_p0781b26是者樣底,汝問我。」僧乃問:「死了、燒了向什麼處去?」師J29nB246_p0781b27撫掌三下,僧禮拜,師云:「莫向鬼窟裡作活計。」
J29nB246_p0781b28僧問:「達磨西來,教外別傳,畢竟傳個什麼?」師云:「龜毛J29nB246_p0781b29拂子。」僧云:「意旨如何?」師云:「觸破面門。」
J29nB246_p0781b30問:「弓折箭盡,還有奇特事否?」師云:「飢來喫飯,困來眠。」
J29nB246_p0781c01天童錦曇禪士問:「人人盡有生緣,如何是和尚生緣?」J29nB246_p0781c02師云:「常憶江南三月裡,鷓鴣啼處百花香。」問:「如何是J29nB246_p0781c03我手何似佛手?」師云:「天上有星皆拱北,人間無水不J29nB246_p0781c04朝東。」問:「如何是我腳何似驢腳?」師云:「陋巷不騎金色J29nB246_p0781c05馬,回途卻著破襴衫。」曇作禮,師便打。
J29nB246_p0781c06僧參,師云:「山僧者裡趙州家風也沒得。」僧云:「以何物J29nB246_p0781c07相待來者?」師云:「一個空拳。」僧云:「某甲空拳亦沒得。」師J29nB246_p0781c08云:「非汝境界。」僧擬進語,師便打出。
J29nB246_p0781c09師舉數珠問皋亭僧云:「會麼?」僧云:「不會。」師云:「你也有J29nB246_p0781c10底,因甚不會?」僧一喝,師乃連打兩掌。
J29nB246_p0781c11僧問:「如何是衲僧眼?」師云:「瞎。」僧云:「意旨如何?」師云:「瞎。」
J29nB246_p0781c12問海上僧云:「汝曾見觀音麼?」僧無語。師云:「蹉過了也。」J29nB246_p0781c13又問:「海上風波洪大,往來不易。」僧又無對。師笑云:「險。」
J29nB246_p0781c14師將一僧鼻孔扭云:「為甚麼你鼻孔落在地下?」僧云:J29nB246_p0781c15「何曾?」師云:「何故你不知香臭?」僧無語。師云:「拾取好。」
J29nB246_p0781c16僧問:「假使百千劫,所作業不忘,為甚麼一稱南無佛,J29nB246_p0781c17罪滅河沙劫?」師云:「苦海無邊,回頭是岸。」
J29nB246_p0781c18僧問:「古人作此○相云:『萬象森羅總在其中,具眼禪J29nB246_p0781c19人試甄別看。』請問大師如何甄別?」師云:「全露法中王。」
J29nB246_p0781c20僧問:「仇人相見即不問,賓主道合事如何?」師云:「南贍J29nB246_p0781c21部州打鼓,西瞿耶尼作拍。」
J29nB246_p0781c22僧問:「香嚴擊竹,未審當時見個甚麼道理便悟去?」師J29nB246_p0781c23云:「鼻孔原來搭上脣。」
J29nB246_p0781c24士問:「得本底人還有生死否?」師云:「生死且止,喚什麼J29nB246_p0781c25作本?」士擬議,師劈面一掌,云:「莫道無生死好。」
J29nB246_p0781c26僧問:「因甚古人道:『佛之一事,我不喜聞?』」師云:「天上天J29nB246_p0781c27下,唯我獨尊。」
J29nB246_p0781c28僧問:「不觸不背,意旨如何?」師云:「無毛鷂子潑天飛。」
J29nB246_p0781c29僧問:「大透脫底人,因甚披枷帶杻?」師云:「不是苦心人J29nB246_p0781c30不知。」僧云:「畢竟如何?」師云:「頭頂天,腳踏地。」

J29nB246_p0782a02己酉臘八日,震澤龐全力設普茶,同大眾請說行腳,J29nB246_p0782a03師卻之。眾固懇,師云:「予愧道不如先哲,行不迨前賢,J29nB246_p0782a04福薄德尟,識淺學荒,何足言也?然逼不得已,未免一J29nB246_p0782a05番露布。予乃秀水金氏子,父號成丹,母唐氏,生於天J29nB246_p0782a06啟壬戌四月二十七日也。不幸二親早喪,老祖拊養J29nB246_p0782a07長成。齠齔時,嘗夢觀音大士為予摩頂,因專持菩薩J29nB246_p0782a08名號。老祖事佛行善,凡至藍若,予必隨往,常喜禮佛,J29nB246_p0782a09愛慕出家。至十六,祖有疾,欲完姻事,予立志不從。未J29nB246_p0782a10幾,祖乃坐脫,予痛淚失怙。次年,祖母亦故,殯葬訖,予J29nB246_p0782a11自念生死無常,出家時至矣。遂辭親族,蒙送東塔禪J29nB246_p0782a12寺,禮覺如老師披剃,是辛巳二十歲也。至癸未,請雪J29nB246_p0782a13嶠大師結制,予充行者於方丈。一日,灑掃次,嶠問:『你J29nB246_p0782a14為什麼出家?』予云:『父母早亡,為懼生死。』嶠云:『何不參J29nB246_p0782a15個無生死底?』予便禮拜,請問:『如何是無生死底?』嶠打J29nB246_p0782a16一掌,云:『你自去看。』予悚然再拜。自此疑情猛發,日夜J29nB246_p0782a17體究。明春,同老師往皋亭結茅,遂乃佛前立願:『若不J29nB246_p0782a18徹悟,誓不出山。』終日癡獃獃地,絕不與人共語,少倦J29nB246_p0782a19則痛加鞭策,忘餐廢寢,坐立不安。一日,斫柴次,正迷J29nB246_p0782a20悶間,有兔躍出,不覺失刀株立,擬取刀,忽然有省,乃J29nB246_p0782a21述偈云:『觸破孃生面,全身沒處藏,落花隨水去,紅日J29nB246_p0782a22耀山崗。』呈老師,師甚喜,是丙戌二十五歲也。無幾,老J29nB246_p0782a23師圓寂,完其後事。聞古南牧老和尚赴梅溪開堂設J29nB246_p0782a24戒,其時路紮重兵,憤志出山,徑至嘉禾,具禮參見。南J29nB246_p0782a25問:『甚處來?』予云:『皋亭。』南云:『來作甚麼?』予云:『乞和尚圓J29nB246_p0782a26戒。』南云:『衣缽完具否?』予打圓相,呈棒勢。南云:『弄虛頭J29nB246_p0782a27漢。』予云:『和尚莫壓良為賤。』南云:『更道看。』予禮拜云:『謝J29nB246_p0782a28和尚慈悲。』期畢辭出,參浮老和尚,問云:『何處來?』予云:J29nB246_p0782a29『梅溪。』浮拈拄杖云:『梅溪還有者個麼?』予云:『有。』浮云:『既J29nB246_p0782a30有,又來作麼?』予舉坐具云:『特來呈似和尚。』浮便打,予J29nB246_p0782b01禮拜云:『某甲罪過。』浮命茶留住。後同道友往報恩參J29nB246_p0782b02玉老和尚,玉纔見,乃拈起拄杖,予便敷具作禮,玉擲J29nB246_p0782b03杖便歸臥室,予收具便出。復至興善參永正老人於J29nB246_p0782b04靜室,予問:『靈雲曰:「自從一見桃花後,直至如今更不J29nB246_p0782b05疑。」因甚玄沙卻道敢保老兄未徹在?』老人云:『直不藏J29nB246_p0782b06曲。』予云:『未審徹底人分上,如何受用?』老人云:『飢來喫J29nB246_p0782b07飯,倦即打眠。』予禮拜辭出,老人云:『不得問了便休,大J29nB246_p0782b08須仔細。』命至堂中,謁馥生大師。馥德風雅厚,因憩錫J29nB246_p0782b09焉。一日呈偈,老人接得便打,予擬進語,老人又打,予J29nB246_p0782b10纔禮拜,老人直打出,予自愧見地未得超卓。明春,啟J29nB246_p0782b11大悲期,請入懺堂。期畢,復進室中禮拜,老人乃問:『你J29nB246_p0782b12在懺期中還見大悲菩薩麼?』予云:『在和尚頂門放光J29nB246_p0782b13了也。』老人云:『在老僧頂門與汝有甚交涉?』予豎拳云J29nB246_p0782b14『請和尚證明。』老人連打三掌,予禮拜,老人便一踏,予J29nB246_p0782b15自此脫然,遂呈偈云:『向謂無能及,從今脫見知,森羅J29nB246_p0782b16休作舞,萬象漫提撕。』老人頷之,是戊子年二十七歲J29nB246_p0782b17也。時在躬師亦在堂中,相與甚契。一日,登閣次,躬問:J29nB246_p0782b18『如何得遍現色身?』予云:『更上一層樓。』躬云:『謝師答話。』J29nB246_p0782b19予云:『莫錯會好。』是秋,紳衿諸護法恭請老人住永正J29nB246_p0782b20禪院,予即同在躬隨侍。時當初住,予雖在侍寮,內外J29nB246_p0782b21諸事無不兼理。一日,種菜次,老人至,問:『作甚麼?』予云:J29nB246_p0782b22『種菜。』老人云:『為眾?為己?』予云:『請和尚分析。』老人云:『將J29nB246_p0782b23謂你道得。』予以掘子打地三下,老人休去。予因看幻J29nB246_p0782b24菴師,至棲真參林老和尚,予云:『特叩寶山,便請賜棒。』J29nB246_p0782b25林云:『老僧沒氣力。』予便喝,林云:『三十棒自領出去。』予J29nB246_p0782b26展具云:『人事道中,合禮三拜。』遂至客寮,乃見幻菴師,J29nB246_p0782b27敘事畢,幻乞同舟至永正省覲老人,舟中談及四賓J29nB246_p0782b28主話,幻便問:『如何是賓中賓?』予云:『沽名釣利拋鄉井,J29nB246_p0782b29直至如今不見歸。』幻云:『如何是賓中主?』予云:『拖泥帶J29nB246_p0782b30水閒行走,拄杖從來不離身。』幻云:『如何是主中賓?』予J29nB246_p0782c01云:『為憐樵子迷幽徑,暫佇谿邊作指陳。』幻云:『如何是J29nB246_p0782c02主中主?』予云:『正令全提無向背,凡情聖解豈能容?』幻J29nB246_p0782c03云:『秪如不立賓主一句又作麼生?』予云:『風急船行快,J29nB246_p0782c04天青日影高。』幻云:『不負吾兄親近老人。』予云:『且莫惡J29nB246_p0782c05口。』幻云:『贓物現在。』予便喝,幻乃休。一日,龍池萬老和J29nB246_p0782c06尚至如如菴,予往禮問:『後生晚進,乞垂方便。』萬便打,J29nB246_p0782c07予云:『恁麼則某甲禮拜去也。』萬云:『你見甚麼道理?』予J29nB246_p0782c08便喝,萬復打,予拂坐具便出。辛卯冬,老人赴當湖檀J29nB246_p0782c09越屠公請,住竺隱禪院,予充監院,力為修整,乃成叢J29nB246_p0782c10席。一日,同完初屠公請老人觀海登陳山,老人驀問:J29nB246_p0782c11『水牯牛聻?』予捏兩拳加頂上,老人云:『且喜穿卻鼻孔。』J29nB246_p0782c12予轉身便行,老人云:『一任𨁝跳。』予機緣頗有不及,每J29nB246_p0782c13舉甲午春,濮溪護法復請老人赴永正,檀越屠公乞J29nB246_p0782c14留主持,予切欲隨侍,乃白老人,舉幻菴師繼席,即隨J29nB246_p0782c15同往。至老人誕日,眾請上堂,予問:『父母未生前,請師J29nB246_p0782c16道一句。』老人云:『未問已前答汝竟。』予云:『世尊降誕,地J29nB246_p0782c17湧金蓮,和尚生日,有何祥瑞?』老人云:『今日眾居士請J29nB246_p0782c18山僧陞座。』予云:『恁麼則斷橋嫡脈流千古,臨濟宗風J29nB246_p0782c19萬派傳。』老人云:『速禮三拜。』予拂具歸眾。是冬大凍,老J29nB246_p0782c20人脾疾甚危,體弱怕寒,向因老人有願不著絲綿,予J29nB246_p0782c21秪得違命重整衣被,再三求懇乃得更換,捐己衣資J29nB246_p0782c22湊買參附,蒙神醫德士幸而病愈。老人志欲靜養,予J29nB246_p0782c23同敬泉沈居士築室長水,延請事奉,老人即命之曰J29nB246_p0782c24退菴,是乙未春也。時金明老和尚同本師老人重建J29nB246_p0782c25普明用祖塔於興善,命予監理,工畢,即同送靈骨入J29nB246_p0782c26葬。己亥冬,予欲掩關呈偈,老人得蒙慈允,乃關居永J29nB246_p0782c27正,老人遂依韻賜詠曰:『巾瓶不倦喜忘春,危險親徵J29nB246_p0782c28義更深,惡棒痛敲因徹骨,玄言聖誨要知音。幾臨禪J29nB246_p0782c29剎憑君輔,每患沉痾賴爾任,有問關中何所事?直須J29nB246_p0782c30拈出祖師心。』值中秋夜,老人舉馬祖翫月話問眾云:J29nB246_p0783a01『古人恁麼道,汝等各下一語看。』予云:『金屑雖貴,落眼J29nB246_p0783a02成翳。』復呈頌云:『孤輪炯炯耀無隅,今古婆心義不殊,J29nB246_p0783a03極目清光堪繼賞,爭如擊碎驪龍珠?』老人稱善。辛丑J29nB246_p0783a04春,因乏監院,金明老和尚特蒙過院,乃同老人命予J29nB246_p0783a05出關,明亦賜偈曰:『凋林欲挽正斯時,何必拘拘俟滿J29nB246_p0783a06期?放出從前真面目,移風易俗好施為。』時檀護畢集,J29nB246_p0783a07請老人啟關,予乃問:『自入關來事最親,經行坐臥本J29nB246_p0783a08天真,忽蒙擊碎虛空鎖,躍出金烏萬象新。』老人云:『更J29nB246_p0783a09道看。』予一喝,老人云:『也不虛過。』予禮拜,云:『謝和尚證J29nB246_p0783a10明。』老人打一棒,云:『且道是賞你?罰你?』予云:『有意氣時J29nB246_p0783a11添意氣,不風流處也風流。』老人遂付囑偈曰:『是心非J29nB246_p0783a12有法,是法本非心,心法俱空寂,真宗耀古今。』予自愧J29nB246_p0783a13匪材,不能重任,難違慈命,勉爾承當,是三月望日也。J29nB246_p0783a14老人命主院事,予義不能辭,竭力支撐,因佛相淋漓,J29nB246_p0783a15殿房坍損,局面未全,深自慨惜,即將祖產變賣,啟建J29nB246_p0783a16山門,併募善信,重裝金像,整葺堂房,添置什物,庶得J29nB246_p0783a17小就,已完老人之念,雲水往來,以便接納。老人生平J29nB246_p0783a18孤潔,懶涉世緣,適過五旬大慶,即同兩序命予主席,J29nB246_p0783a19予乃涼德多愆,何當繼紹?舉請沖默法兄,默亦過遜,J29nB246_p0783a20因請通濟法兄住持,遂辭檀護,即同老人仍歸退菴,J29nB246_p0783a21是甲辰中秋十日也。次年,編刻老人全錄。春間,承金J29nB246_p0783a22明老和尚并老人命,重梓《普明鴛祖語錄》。至秋,同別J29nB246_p0783a23駕牧公、眾護法送入楞嚴經坊流行。予不唯贏病,且J29nB246_p0783a24歷經險厄,志願隱山,終其殘喘,故雖有一言半句,付J29nB246_p0783a25之烏有。今因大眾堅請再三,秪得復將從前醜拙分J29nB246_p0783a26明舉似,若是伶俐漢,向智上座未出母胎時覷破,是J29nB246_p0783a27親見也,何用繁為?雖然,欲躋無上毗盧頂,不礙從卑J29nB246_p0783a28漸次行。」眾皆歡喜,禮謝而退。
