J29nB222_p0008a04熊之可、之奇、之京請為胡縣君對靈小參,師拈〈疏〉云:J29nB222_p0008a05「第一第二總不足論,此是象山縣君生平底,付與沒J29nB222_p0008a06量居士拈出。」宣畢,師云:「縣君早修淨業,持誦佛母準J29nB222_p0008a07提;晚自知非,深究正法眼臧。乃於今年遣人求指訣,J29nB222_p0008a08因教看箇『不是心、不是佛,是箇甚麼?』由是力參者三J29nB222_p0008a09七日,忽然心識不行,言思路絕,將座鐵山撞倒,笑曰:J29nB222_p0008a10『范縣君道:「元來恁麼近。」今果然!』縣君病革,召仲君平J29nB222_p0008a11原謂曰:『女為吾報師恩德。』言訖,自在而脫。大眾!縣君J29nB222_p0008a12如是,得不為長君、孔原等慶幸乎?雖然,正恁麼時,如J29nB222_p0008a13何是縣君暢快一句?脫體頓超名相外,一彈指頃去J29nB222_p0008a14來今。」
J29nB222_p0008a15附請疏。伏以興化於親過奢,無勞集眾;天如於母J29nB222_p0008a16太煞,不覺重言。子母俱到,情忘慈孝,遂立人極之。J29nB222_p0008a17可等痛念亡母誥封安人、象山縣君胡氏,內政克J29nB222_p0008a18修,曾見褒於天語;靜業夙具,常夢遊於梵宮。蚤稽J29nB222_p0008a19首佛母準提,晚并心正法眼臧。已解人竟俱奪,但J29nB222_p0008a20欠灑脫自閒。愧求事之未能,奈無法之可說。伏遇J29nB222_p0008a21臥龍大和尚,人天眼目,幽明津梁,轉經有類多羅、J29nB222_p0008a22修儀一如七佛。幸蒙飛錫,妄冀垂楊。秦國有落艸J29nB222_p0008a23之談,已非因子及母;瞿曇申無常之偈,亦曰事亡J29nB222_p0008a24如存。知從空放下不難,看對靈呼之或出。於斯識J29nB222_p0008a25得薦母意,是則名為報佛恩。
J29nB222_p0008a26明道黃道婆請為星拱黃映宿居士對靈小參。師拈J29nB222_p0008a27拄杖指云:「見麼?星拱黃君其未死也,常聽我打葛藤;J29nB222_p0008a28其既死也,亦聽我打葛藤。何也?盍崇禎庚午閒入我J29nB222_p0008a29大覺法中,究心《楞嚴》少有入路,十年於茲遂成莫逆,J29nB222_p0008a30自吾觀之,實非一生兩生結就者也。又常重建棲靈J29nB222_p0008b01梵剎,欲期仝住,忽一旦攃手而去,豈复嫌於久住令J29nB222_p0008b02人賤,頻來親也疏也邪?雖然,佛祖不傳之事猶未指J29nB222_p0008b03破在。」复拈杖指云:「星拱黃君即爾儒者身,身無其身;J29nB222_p0008b04即爾菩薩形,形無其形。虛空仝體,世界浮雲,生死晝J29nB222_p0008b05夜,形骸旅亭。其來也,電光爍爍;其去也,石火騰騰。即J29nB222_p0008b06見仝人作來去,原原委委亙常存。」時道婆歛手云:「哀J29nB222_p0008b07哀!」師云:「作甚麼?」婆云:「為他黃君摘楊華。」師便下座。
J29nB222_p0008b08熊止白居士請為余道婆小參。乃云:「止白得為吾徒,J29nB222_p0008b09爾亦得為吾徒;止白吸盡香水海,爾方跳上須彌盧。」J29nB222_p0008b10顧左右云:「者話且置,如何是道婆得力句?自從埽去J29nB222_p0008b11雲空翳,一月千江總自如。」
J29nB222_p0008b12張道婆請為通碧徐道臣對靈小參。云:「者漢方脫卻J29nB222_p0008b13鶻臭布縿、炙脂帽子,便解向官潭渡裏泛石龍船,逍J29nB222_p0008b14逍遙遙,歌滄浪、弄明月,與性空仝游去也。山僧也有J29nB222_p0008b15首歌曲為伊助喜。」遂云:「知音人!知音人!流水高山共J29nB222_p0008b16此心,石印寺前重論舊,鳳凰山下語猶深。折蘆葉,蕩J29nB222_p0008b17秋會,斷送孤帆白晝雲。」喝一喝,云:「低聲,低聲!」
J29nB222_p0008b18小參。問:「如何是西來大意?」師云:「江村漁火發,照見夜J29nB222_p0008b19行舟。」乃云:「但盡凡心,別無聖解。山僧看來卻又不然,J29nB222_p0008b20未知有底,礦中有金;既知有底,金中有礦。所以道:『大J29nB222_p0008b21事未明,如喪考妣;大事已明,如喪考妣。』莫道不知有J29nB222_p0008b22底如此,即知有底愈要精進,除去無始劫來妄業流J29nB222_p0008b23識,始有契證時節。雖然,當又知我宗無語句,亦無一J29nB222_p0008b24法與人,須是自家屋裏拈出,始得盍天盍地。不然,大J29nB222_p0008b25有事在。」
J29nB222_p0008b26小參。「放下著,莫妄想。如今坐立儼然,作麼生放下?莫J29nB222_p0008b27是內六根、外六塵、中六識一齊放下麼?僧問趙州:『一J29nB222_p0008b28物不將來時如何?』州云:『放下著。』僧於此寤去。大眾!者J29nB222_p0008b29便是放下底樣子。雖然,不可便作容易。只須去盡無J29nB222_p0008b30始壅塞及見前流識,使胸中七穴八穿,蕩蕩地、灑灑J29nB222_p0008c01地,無事無為,真正道人,然後乃已;不爾,都無利益。所J29nB222_p0008c02以道:『割髮須及膚,翦叉宜侵體。』」
J29nB222_p0008c03除日,小參。「學道人非一做便休,須是切之又切乃能J29nB222_p0008c04窮高極深。古人在叢林久經磨洒,然後雖住得箇院J29nB222_p0008c05子,人猶譏為離師太早,盍在師邊住一日有一日警J29nB222_p0008c06策,故從上以今日為警策,謂一年十二月於今是盡J29nB222_p0008c07月,一月三十日於今是盡日,所以鞭策道流,回光自J29nB222_p0008c08照,若不如此,光會可惜。兄弟也有遠來者、也有近來J29nB222_p0008c09者,仝山僧打者鼓笛,須要一番磨洒、一番光明始不J29nB222_p0008c10負初心。不爾,於事何益?」
J29nB222_p0008c11小參。「山僧尋常有一機,不與諸佛共、不與祖師共、不J29nB222_p0008c12與天下老和尚共,且道與誰共?有定奪得者,不妨出J29nB222_p0008c13來相見;如無,山僧自道去也。今夜且燒舊臘火,來朝J29nB222_p0008c14相賀新年人。」
J29nB222_p0008c15小參。「今之參禪學道工夫不得力、此事不得明,無他,J29nB222_p0008c16盍為去不下身心,自生愛染;放不下家緣,自起繫念。J29nB222_p0008c17繫念起則好食戀衣,愛染生則貪生畏死,所以不能J29nB222_p0008c18自在,而生死際頭亦不得力,此之過也。兄弟家既辦J29nB222_p0008c19翀霄志,來者裏仝甘澹泊、共守清貧,須是把生死念J29nB222_p0008c20頭密密舉起、切切窮去,窮到心識不行、言思路絕,不J29nB222_p0008c21待倒斷而自倒斷矣!」
J29nB222_p0008c22小參。「若論本分接人,何須擔枷帶丑?無奈今時弊病J29nB222_p0008c23頗多,師家亦只得隨例起倒,道箇此事不從佛祖經J29nB222_p0008c24書邊得、不從他人口嘴邊得、不從靜悄地裏得、不從J29nB222_p0008c25鬧轟地裏得,但除去見聞覺知、屏卻咽喉脣吻,見得J29nB222_p0008c26分曉,自然不動干戈,太平坐致。不然,還須把不明不J29nB222_p0008c27會底做箇生法身父母、長道德聖胎,或行或坐必要J29nB222_p0008c28覷透根源,如縣嵒上撲地一驚,始可謂罷參絕學真J29nB222_p0008c29正道人。」
J29nB222_p0008c30小參。「囊留螢火,鑿壁引光,世出世雖不仝,向上心一J29nB222_p0009a01也。棲靈門下既有鐙又有燭,參玄上士須著猛力。或J29nB222_p0009a02大事未明、祖意未透,著實參究,究到無可究處自然J29nB222_p0009a03蕩豁,可謂冷灰裏有粒豆爆、枯木上有支華發,豈不J29nB222_p0009a04是衲僧家生平慶幸邪?天寒,勿勞久立。」
J29nB222_p0009a05小參。僧問:「如何是五宗仝道一句?」師云:「棲靈寺外諸J29nB222_p0009a06峰秀,臨水江頭一月明。」「如何是五宗別開一句?」師云:J29nB222_p0009a07「江清河濁流今昔,岷嶺梁山別一宗。」僧喝,師便打,乃J29nB222_p0009a08云:「春色晴明,佛祖體露;秋聲送雨,衲僧命門。者裏辦J29nB222_p0009a09得分明尚無入路,何況者裏未曾發足?大眾!你道如J29nB222_p0009a10何是究竟一路?處處子規啼不盡,家家月色照無聊。」
J29nB222_p0009a11小參。僧問:「師唱誰家曲?宗風嗣阿誰?」師云:「頭頂黃河J29nB222_p0009a12尾氐江。」僧云:「才挽雕弓意,喊聲便震天。」師云:「彈子出J29nB222_p0009a13紅盧,闍黎一命殞。」僧便喝,師打,乃云:「放開一步,步步J29nB222_p0009a14登高;把住一頭,頭頭無路。所以,盡十方界只得無取J29nB222_p0009a15無舍,始是佛祖轉身一路。若不如此,徒勞擔囊負缽、J29nB222_p0009a16走東適西,有甚飽參時節?大眾!我廣福圜制之時,故J29nB222_p0009a17以此進女大眾。若女大眾的欲明此一段大事,當須J29nB222_p0009a18究竟,不可以少為足。古人三二十年始成道業,豈欺J29nB222_p0009a19我哉?珍重!」
晚參
J29nB222_p0009a21晚參。「此事不論僧之與俗、貴之與賤都行得,只是思J29nB222_p0009a22慮太過,不能當下領取。如家居者,治生已遂又慮子J29nB222_p0009a23孫,子孫羅列又慮科目,科目已登又慮名爵。名爵既J29nB222_p0009a24極而世間事畢矣,方欲求免生死,則頭白齒黃,惡有J29nB222_p0009a25餘年可進此道邪?如不家居者欲研四諦,至滅道可J29nB222_p0009a26已又思十二緣,至還滅盡已又思萬行,至三觀尚矣J29nB222_p0009a27又思正覺,至正覺方觀從前事業終是階級建化門J29nB222_p0009a28邊事,惡有頓超之理?兄弟總不如向者裏盍卻,始得J29nB222_p0009a29疌徑。」
J29nB222_p0009a30晚參。「山僧有三轉語垂問,大眾切須子細。此事元來J29nB222_p0009b01見成,何須別用工夫?不用工夫,如何得見成去?有時J29nB222_p0009b02節要人作佛祖,有時節不要人作佛祖,者老漢是甚J29nB222_p0009b03麼心行?至道無難,唯嫌柬擇,是何人語?若道山僧,孤J29nB222_p0009b04負祖師;若道祖師,又成柬擇。」
J29nB222_p0009b05晚參。「兄弟家都是多歷江湖、久參上士,不可只見一J29nB222_p0009b06橛便謂禽縱殺活我已透得。古人常言:『大事已明,如J29nB222_p0009b07喪考妣。』況未明大事即作自足想邪?何不趁此色力,J29nB222_p0009b08百尺竿頭快須進步?忽然虛空粉碎,是時不待罷參J29nB222_p0009b09而自罷參矣!」
J29nB222_p0009b10晚參。拈拄杖召眾云:「有麼?」有僧便喝,師打云:「者樣底J29nB222_p0009b11有甚交涉?今日不許喝,豎拳、豎指、左右旋、女人拜,種J29nB222_p0009b12種盡是學來底,只須別道始得。既道不得,何不精進?J29nB222_p0009b13不見古人四十年不雜用心,除二時鬻飯是雜用心J29nB222_p0009b14邪?又不見只愁不是佛,是佛何愁不解語邪?」
J29nB222_p0009b15晚參。舉德山和尚住後因緣,驀顧左右大罵云:「看者J29nB222_p0009b16桼桶把佛祖欺迕,只當笈中物,可惜當日仝事者不J29nB222_p0009b17肯左袒佛祖,令伊肆意獨邁高風,今七百年來亦未J29nB222_p0009b18有為佛祖雪屈者。山僧雖生晚季必不私徇,要為干J29nB222_p0009b19城啟闢徽猷,胡不思先佛,天人莫上、眾聖中尊,豈可J29nB222_p0009b20欺迕當物看乎?祖師直指人心見性成佛,亦可欺迕J29nB222_p0009b21當物看乎?」复顧左右云:「兄弟還甘此說麼?若甘,德山J29nB222_p0009b22放行早已;不甘,佛祖過在甚麼處?」有僧出,師打云:「不J29nB222_p0009b23是不是!」又僧出,師亦打云:「不是不是!」一眾芒然莫識J29nB222_p0009b24師意,從此內外,脅不至席矣!
J29nB222_p0009b25晚參。「丈夫眉宇不作跛驢,為甚透脫不得?」有僧以腳J29nB222_p0009b26打地,師打兩棒云:「做甚麼?」僧才開口,師复打云:「問意J29nB222_p0009b27有宗,畣意攸仝,是女亂做得麼?且者學得底濟事不J29nB222_p0009b28得。」又有僧從東過西,師亦打,云:「者桼桶,華嚴門下,佛J29nB222_p0009b29來祖來一驗骨出,鐵額銅頭不敢跨門,況女溺床鬼J29nB222_p0009b30子欲逞神通邪?」又打兩棒。
J29nB222_p0009c01晚參。「山僧學道二十餘年,末上向萬峰山頂見箇無J29nB222_p0009c02面孔老師,被他朝打三千、莫打八百,逼得到千里萬J29nB222_p0009c03里無我無人,冷清清地忽地醒來。」乃舉杖云:「拾得者J29nB222_p0009c04箇喚作佛法,從巴蜀歷荊楚,也曾拈示於人,只是無J29nB222_p0009c05人證據;如今藥山寺裏新開盧韝也,拈示於人,亦無J29nB222_p0009c06人證據。夜裏忽爾傷風,出气不得,衲被蒙頭,悶得通J29nB222_p0009c07身汗滴,天明剛才蘇息,又被人問著,山僧無可措手。」J29nB222_p0009c08复舉杖云:「又只得將者箇拈示,切勿道:夜來傷風,今J29nB222_p0009c09猶噴嚏在。何也?者箇千聖不能傳,乾坤包不得,通身J29nB222_p0009c10是手眼,亦少覷著者。兄弟!明見是箇拄杖,不從南山J29nB222_p0009c11來,便是北山出,因甚道千聖不能傳,乾坤包不得?明J29nB222_p0009c12見是箇拄杖,長則長五尺,渾身似桼黑,因甚道通身J29nB222_p0009c13是手眼,亦少覷著者?者裏有具眼底,出來道看!」
J29nB222_p0009c14晚參。「此段大事,就在諸人經行打坐處討取自是分J29nB222_p0009c15曉。行時討取行底是甚麼,坐時討取坐底是甚麼;一J29nB222_p0009c16行一坐,通身討取是甚麼?如是討取,則行住坐臥,法J29nB222_p0009c17法頭頭自然綿密,誠能爾者必有倒斷時節。東院云:J29nB222_p0009c18『一生不離叢林,十年五載不語,無人喚伊作啞漢。』豈J29nB222_p0009c19欺人哉?」
J29nB222_p0009c20晚參。「一口气不來,畢竟向甚麼處去?此博山大師語J29nB222_p0009c21也。兄弟家將此一句頓在面前,行也此一句,坐也此J29nB222_p0009c22一句;行住坐臥通身此一句。如是則手中掜著此一J29nB222_p0009c23句、腳底蹋著此一句,眼中覷著此一句、耳裏聽著此J29nB222_p0009c24一句,鼻頭嗅著此一句、牙關咬著此一句,未常少閒、J29nB222_p0009c25未常少歇,欲登佛祖階亦何難也?只是兄弟家不能J29nB222_p0009c26信去。山僧昔年將謂此老魔魅人,今日看來,何等見J29nB222_p0009c27成?何等簡易?兄弟家記取,記取!」
J29nB222_p0009c28晚參。舉龐居士〈偈〉至「神通玅用,運水般柴」,云:「只如早J29nB222_p0009c29上般柴時,還得神通麼?兄弟家如不會,不免從頭註J29nB222_p0009c30破。『日用事無別』」師云:「還須知有。『惟吾自偶諧』」師云:「切J29nB222_p0010a01莫認著。『頭頭非取舍』」師云:「是箇甚麼?『處處勿張乖』」師J29nB222_p0010a02云:「要且不識渠。『朱紫誰為號』」師云:「任從滄海變。『丘山J29nB222_p0010a03絕點埃』」師云:「光景中死漢。『神通與玅用』」師云:「你試道J29nB222_p0010a04看!『運水及般柴』」師云:「三生六十劫。山僧如此,且道是J29nB222_p0010a05肯老龐?不肯老龐?各請下一轉語。」
示眾
J29nB222_p0010a07住指月禪寺,到院日,示眾。拈〈疏〉云:「此是沒量大人,將J29nB222_p0010a08佛祖百千三昧總向不律頭上露出,倘不會,知事宣J29nB222_p0010a09過。」乃云:「山中斫柴、澗下取水,自是住山本分,何故卻J29nB222_p0010a10來者裏揭佛祖標格,用開盧鉗鎚鼓得三百五百,於J29nB222_p0010a11叢林中鬧浩浩地?」良久云:「只因使符逼,非是彊出來。」J29nB222_p0010a12下座。
J29nB222_p0010a13示眾。「惡池見僧便喝,只在舌上用得;武陵見僧便棒,J29nB222_p0010a14只在手裏用得。何似山僧全體用得?」顧左右云:「且那J29nB222_p0010a15裏是全體用得處?」時維那云:「請歸方丈與和尚道!」師J29nB222_p0010a16云:「歸方丈即不無,要且不見全體用得處。」時又有沒J29nB222_p0010a17量居士從東過西、從西過東云:「當甚破艸鞋?」止白居J29nB222_p0010a18士拂袖便出;白拈居士喝一喝;玄倩居士便掀倒禪J29nB222_p0010a19床退身三步。師云:「千般萬般即不無,要且不見全體J29nB222_p0010a20用得處。」
J29nB222_p0010a21示眾。「大凡演唱宗乘,須具金剛眼、擇法眼、透關眼、超J29nB222_p0010a22宗眼。具此四眼,始可用劍刃上事,坐曲彔床。有麼?有J29nB222_p0010a23麼?」僧便問:「如何是金剛眼?」師云:「燒眼非關日,精靈絕J29nB222_p0010a24景相。」「如何是擇法眼?」師云:「淘沙赤金出,漫謂白銅仝。」J29nB222_p0010a25「如何是透關眼?」師云:「千重無留礙,急水打毛毬。」「如何J29nB222_p0010a26是超宗眼?」師云:「上得瞿塘峽,始見眾山低。」
J29nB222_p0010a27示眾。「諸方在浩浩裏傳持,藥山在物物上建立,所以J29nB222_p0010a28在西蜀即說西蜀底法,在楚澧即說楚澧底法。大眾!J29nB222_p0010a29西蜀且止,你道楚澧江南江北甚麼處是法?莫是艸J29nB222_p0010a30木叢林、僧俗男女是法邪?料掉沒交涉。莫是風雲雨J29nB222_p0010b01露、日月寒暑是法邪?料掉沒交涉。莫是前堂後殿、廚J29nB222_p0010b02庫寮房是法邪?料掉沒交涉。莫是鐙籠露柱、瓦塊磚J29nB222_p0010b03頭是法邪?料掉沒交涉。莫是樹支子搖、牛尾巴動是J29nB222_p0010b04法邪?料掉沒交涉。大眾!畢竟在甚麼處?道道看!」
J29nB222_p0010b05示眾。「山僧者裏有時是水上葫蘆禪;有時是日中寶J29nB222_p0010b06石禪;有時是色裏膠青禪;有時是水中鹽味禪。女等J29nB222_p0010b07合作麼生會?」僧出問:「如何是水上葫蘆禪?」師云:「才欲J29nB222_p0010b08進前看,轉便舉頭,早已失來蹤。」「如何是日中寶石禪?」J29nB222_p0010b09師云:「新出河山光爛熳,燒空灼地景微微。」「如何是色J29nB222_p0010b10裏膠青禪?」師云:「分明漢上無雲物,比擬來時翳眼睛。」J29nB222_p0010b11「如何是水中鹽味禪?」師云:「晉人有舌應難辨,付與多J29nB222_p0010b12情石女兒。」
J29nB222_p0010b13示眾。「我此大眾江湖散人,聽吾偈句以為道根。不可J29nB222_p0010b14放縱、不可死心、不可妄想、不可執情。不可四顧、不可J29nB222_p0010b15合睛、不可妄認、不可別尋。不可憎愛、不可無明、不可J29nB222_p0010b16自欺、不可非人。不可不說、不可動脣、不可執坐、不可J29nB222_p0010b17長行。不可繫念、不可起瞋。無利益事決不可行,豪釐J29nB222_p0010b18若犯,打出山門。」
J29nB222_p0010b19示眾。「淨如珠、清如水、明如鏡、煇如星、皎如月、杲如日,J29nB222_p0010b20厚如地、大如天、虛如空、深如海。今之人不惟不能洞J29nB222_p0010b21蕩、不能深遠、不能光明、不能皎潔,且不識自心在甚J29nB222_p0010b22麼處?是箇甚麼?近有一夥識神之徒升在高座,被人J29nB222_p0010b23逼著便胡言漢語,非打即喝,幾曾夢見臨濟、德山竟J29nB222_p0010b24界來?及乎教除去者伎倆更與相見,必也眼瞠瞠地J29nB222_p0010b25似箇卜卦底見神見鬼,可憐生!胡不聞:『語不驚人,切J29nB222_p0010b26莫開口;不識真人,毋認識神』之誡歟?珍重!」
J29nB222_p0010b27埽龍潭信祖塔,示眾。「擎茶奉餅天王時,底事分明敢J29nB222_p0010b28自欺?今日艸荒人變色,椎胸更去告阿誰?」顧左右云:J29nB222_p0010b29「為甚如此?虛空休掘洞,平地起孤𠂤。」
J29nB222_p0010b30示眾。「吾昔侍萬峰時,與象巖、破雪諸人作偈頌,比被J29nB222_p0010c01老人訶罵,即自知非。今諸人入來未經一月,便欲逞J29nB222_p0010c02才作偈,得不為眾中糟粕邪?如禁而不止,病在膏肓,J29nB222_p0010c03難以救治。」
J29nB222_p0010c04示眾。「高高峰頂立,深深海底行,你道是甚麼人竟界?J29nB222_p0010c05知與師齊,減師半德;知過於師,方堪相授。如今學人J29nB222_p0010c06才向門牆邊張一張,便開口說是說非,此等人,佛謂J29nB222_p0010c07之可憐憫者,閻羅王殿前依舊汗下,何益也?不如做J29nB222_p0010c08到佛祖田地,出來說兩句光揚祖道,豈不謂之丈夫J29nB222_p0010c09也哉?若是光景中、門牆上識得些子,便作者般蟲豸,J29nB222_p0010c10不惟不能為人,亦且箭折弓殘於人矣!」時有張沒量J29nB222_p0010c11向前作掌埶,師云:「放女三十棒。」士禮拜而去。
J29nB222_p0010c12示眾。「莫妄想,見山見水是箇甚麼?」眾目定動,師喝云:J29nB222_p0010c13「者裏那有閒飯養你者死獃禪和?」拈棒便打,眾淚下,J29nB222_p0010c14師云:「會即會,淚甚麼?」复打板頭一棒,云:「將頭不猛,累J29nB222_p0010c15及三軍。」
J29nB222_p0010c16因事示眾。「昔在中慶萬峰時,知事常差負薪汲水、耕J29nB222_p0010c17嵒種石、剝筍采茶、打碓牽磨。知事訶責,於時只不與J29nB222_p0010c18之爭,然後始得己事了辦。兄弟家念生死,來此聚首,J29nB222_p0010c19即般幾束柴未為分外,何小逆竟便打不過?如此是J29nB222_p0010c20不能放下無明種子,如來訶為可憐憫者。不見曹溪J29nB222_p0010c21掌碓、雪峰執炊、溈山諸老皆出行門,豈盡不及兄弟J29nB222_p0010c22也?即如長老順慶名族、縫掖子孫,曾二十年苦辛,豈J29nB222_p0010c23亦不及兄弟也?快須放下,莫慚惶殺人好。」
J29nB222_p0010c24示眾。「趙州云:『諸方難見易識,我者裏易見難識。』天皇J29nB222_p0010c25亦常道:『諸方易見易識,我者裏難見難識。』何則?不見J29nB222_p0010c26道:『佛法不是小事,要在做到行到方知受用。』兄弟家J29nB222_p0010c27如欲得者箇受用,用心須是微細綿密,不可因循。如J29nB222_p0010c28用心細,自然日劫相倍;用心密,亦自然日劫相倍。所J29nB222_p0010c29謂生死心切、向上心堅,自然日劫相倍。兄弟家肯依J29nB222_p0010c30此言,必也窮高極遠,透徹精微,發用闊大,語句驚群。J29nB222_p0011a01雖然,猶有一機尚要會在。」
J29nB222_p0011a02示眾。「兄弟家喚甚麼作道器?若聰明之士舉起便知J29nB222_p0011a03底,則世知辨聰如麻如粟,此等尚與情念黏著不能J29nB222_p0011a04遠離,稍有粟米粒事在胸中,日夜不安,心神攪亂,趙J29nB222_p0011a05州謂:『諸人被十二時使。』正為此輩發藥。兄弟家何不J29nB222_p0011a06趁此鬻飯有喫,把自己不明不會底,急急回光返照J29nB222_p0011a07打起精神,只要做到放光動地始可歇下。如德山見J29nB222_p0011a08龍潭後,拈一條棒,佛來也打、祖來也打,者才是不負J29nB222_p0011a09行腳,向上高流。時寒,珍重!」
J29nB222_p0011a10示眾。「學道人志須堅、心須固。萬年一念、一念萬年。如J29nB222_p0011a11金如石,風吹不入、雨打不溼。到恁麼地,生禽佛祖、活J29nB222_p0011a12捉衲僧,豈是分外事?雖然,還有一著不與道在。」
J29nB222_p0011a13示眾。「日月高縣,乾坤倒卓。露柱鐙籠,一動一靜;磚頭J29nB222_p0011a14瓦塊,或坐或行。正與麼時,耳其聲者,死不移時,利害J29nB222_p0011a15在甚麼處?曾經一中穿楊箭,乍見松毛也皺眉。」
J29nB222_p0011a16示眾。「拓缽出,低頭入,伶俐漢,勿輕忽。瓦子鼓琴、蝦蟆J29nB222_p0011a17和曲,磚頭驚起上月窟。」复云:「虛而盈、剝而复,若得絕J29nB222_p0011a18後再穌,其宗不致寥落。」
J29nB222_p0011a19示眾。「諸方則難參易學,藥山則難學易參。所以藥山J29nB222_p0011a20接人,不須濟下玄要、洞上君臣。」拈拄杖豎起云:「見麼?J29nB222_p0011a21十方薄伽梵,一路涅槃門。」
機緣
J29nB222_p0011a23張則堯居士問:「如何是落艸句?」師云:「此去牛山一里J29nB222_p0011a24許。」「如何是直截句?」師云:「牛頭牛尾顛倒顛。」士信入。
J29nB222_p0011a25開令萬時公問:「父母未生前不問,四大消散時如何?」J29nB222_p0011a26師云:「到頭霜夜月,任運落前谿。」公禮拜。
J29nB222_p0011a27師睡次,有陳瑞環居士至,問:「如何是和尚家風?」師云:J29nB222_p0011a28「一枕齁鼾眠自足。」士云:「意旨如何?」師云:「曾無俗客到J29nB222_p0011a29山家。」
J29nB222_p0011a30問:「臘月三十到來如何?」師云:「雪抹山河皎,竹燒節候J29nB222_p0011b01催。」進云:「新年佛法如何?」師云:「烏雅巢霰,錦鯉臥冰。」
J29nB222_p0011b02問:「如何是體中玄?」師云:「華愛談經名解語。」「如何是句J29nB222_p0011b03中玄?」師云:「龜毛牚破水中月。」「如何是玄中玄?」師云:「蔆J29nB222_p0011b04角尖尖三箇叉。」
J29nB222_p0011b05師問新到:「女住甚處?」僧云:「白雲寺。」師云:「白雲也有事。」J29nB222_p0011b06僧無對。
J29nB222_p0011b07問:「如何是諸佛出身處?」師低頭云:「㘞!」
J29nB222_p0011b08古山問:「某甲一向自謂有箇入處,及舉『如何是心』又J29nB222_p0011b09去不得,過在甚處?」師打云:「是甚麼?猶問過在?」山禮拜,J29nB222_p0011b10師复打七棒云:「棒下無情,聾瞶皆驚,你欲思量,千生J29nB222_p0011b11萬生。」
J29nB222_p0011b12問:「大千世界一微塵,如何是一微塵?」師舉首云:「是甚J29nB222_p0011b13麼?」
J29nB222_p0011b14問:「萬法歸一,一歸何處?」師云:「揭諦,揭諦!」
J29nB222_p0011b15問:「如何是空王殿?」師云:「橫三豎四。」「如何是空王佛?」師J29nB222_p0011b16云:「一二三。」
J29nB222_p0011b17問:「明歷歷、黑桼桼,是箇甚麼?」師與一蹋蹋倒。僧起复J29nB222_p0011b18問:「生死不明,再乞指示!」師掌云:「者無血性漢。」
J29nB222_p0011b19師問僧:「山河及大地,全露法王身。」隨以手指地云:「者J29nB222_p0011b20是甚麼?」僧無對。
J29nB222_p0011b21問:「法堂前即不問,方丈裏如何?」師云:「五眼莫能見。」云:J29nB222_p0011b22「威音王後亦不問,威音王前如何?」師云:「四野青青一J29nB222_p0011b23片春。」
J29nB222_p0011b24師開堂日,張沒量居士請書雲堂額,師云:「攃佛處。」乃J29nB222_p0011b25以衣袖左右撝云:「山川也是!艸木也是!」士作虎聲便J29nB222_p0011b26出,師云:「者俗流也有點气息。」
J29nB222_p0011b27師與胡是渠居士論次,師云:「文章雖居士,佛法須山J29nB222_p0011b28僧。」士云:「互用得麼?」師云:「居士哭,山僧笑。」士便出去。
J29nB222_p0011b29師與張文禪居士避暑牛山,師云:「何不脫衣冠?」士云:J29nB222_p0011b30「禮也。」師云:「將謂你是箇人。」士叩齒而去。
J29nB222_p0011c01師與熊止白、玄倩山行次,師指樹云:「喚作甚麼?」白云:J29nB222_p0011c02「黃荊也不識。」師云:「綠葉因甚道黃荊?」白乃作舞。師复J29nB222_p0011c03問倩,倩云:「是甚麼?」師云:「三十年後有人舉在。」倩亦作J29nB222_p0011c04舞。
J29nB222_p0011c05佛侍者問:「某甲為甚愈參愈不得?」師云:「挑鐙撥火,是J29nB222_p0011c06甚麼道不得?」
J29nB222_p0011c07師問婆子:「你是甚麼生底?」云:「某年。」師云:「那箇是甚麼J29nB222_p0011c08生底?」婆無對。
J29nB222_p0011c09師夢入萬峰室,峰問:「佛祖在甚麼處?」師便作掌埶。峰J29nB222_p0011c10云:「不得動掌,在甚麼處?」師又舉掌云:「好不識羞。」
J29nB222_p0011c11師過烏雅山,問主僧:「山名甚麼?」云:「烏雅。」師云:「為甚不J29nB222_p0011c12飛去?」
J29nB222_p0011c13師問僧:「從那裏來?」云:「金雞。」師云:「來時金雞啼也未?」僧J29nB222_p0011c14無語。
J29nB222_p0011c15德山僧參,師云:「金剛祖師道甚麼?」僧沈吟,師便打。
J29nB222_p0011c16問:「門外人即不問,如何是門裏人?」師厲聲云:「眼瞎那!」J29nB222_p0011c17僧喝,師云:「好喝!」僧禮拜,師便蹋倒。僧起欲語,師云:「住!J29nB222_p0011c18住!此事須是命根下刺一刀底人始得,我者裏刀刃J29nB222_p0011c19上取人,容你眨眼不得。」
J29nB222_p0011c20問:「縣嵒攃手時如何?」師作聽埶。僧理前問,師云:「三生J29nB222_p0011c21六十劫。」
J29nB222_p0011c22金雞啟教授參問:「趙州到投子,子過茶,州不顧;侍者J29nB222_p0011c23過茶,州為甚禮侍者三拜?」師云:「山僧亦合禮你,你作J29nB222_p0011c24麼生會?」啟領玄旨。有〈偈〉云:「复將三拜驗天人,石女聞J29nB222_p0011c25之也斷魂,赤眼波斯來何早?金雞啼上鐵昆侖。」師然J29nB222_p0011c26之。
J29nB222_p0011c27石林誰維那參,師云:「鼻孔向下垂,眉毛橫兩截作麼J29nB222_p0011c28生?」誰釋然禮拜云:「觀誰終不敢忘和尚。」
J29nB222_p0011c29欽山僧參,師問:「若人識得心,大地無寸土。眼前是甚J29nB222_p0011c30麼?上座有會處,下一轉語來。」僧無對。
J29nB222_p0012a01問:「觀世音將錢買胡餅,放下手卻是饅頭時如何?」師J29nB222_p0012a02云:「女信不及邪?」
J29nB222_p0012a03慧月亮西堂問:「寂亮在天童曾問向上一著,千聖不J29nB222_p0012a04傳意旨,未有入路,即今和尚如何指示?」師云:「輕舟浮J29nB222_p0012a05水面。」亮於言下豁然,禮拜云:「喜得今日問過。」
J29nB222_p0012a06師因肩複下山,遇張沒量居士問云:「何不累侍者?」師J29nB222_p0012a07云:「不欲假借人。」士直走而去。
J29nB222_p0012a08問:「臨濟三玄、玄沙三玄,是仝是別?」師劈脊便打。
J29nB222_p0012a09問:「三十日到來時如何?」師云:「縣嵒解點頭。」
J29nB222_p0012a10問:「如何是佛法大意?」師云:「一鋸葫蘆兩把瓢。」
J29nB222_p0012a11師問壁侍者云:「女會佛法麼?」者云:「去年會,如今不會。」J29nB222_p0012a12師云:「如今為甚不會?」者云:「早無管待,用會作麼?」師云:J29nB222_p0012a13「放女一頓。」者禮拜。
J29nB222_p0012a14師與壁侍者山行次,師問:「如何是正法眼臧?破砂盆。J29nB222_p0012a15你作麼生會?」者云:「某甲不是弄淖人。」師云:「不弄淖怎J29nB222_p0012a16見洪波?」者云:「洪波在甚麼處?」師以杖畫兩畫,者揭涉J29nB222_p0012a17曰:「莫淹殺某甲好。」師頷之。
J29nB222_p0012a18師因座主問溈仰九十七圓相意旨,師以拂子畫相J29nB222_p0012a19示之。主抹卻,師复畫,主又抹卻。師云:「吾不畫,你又作J29nB222_p0012a20麼生?」主芒然,師云:「販私鹽漢放下著。」
J29nB222_p0012a21師一日舉楞嚴事究竟堅固,因擊碎茶桮勘眾云:「你J29nB222_p0012a22道是堅固?是不堅固?若道堅固,山僧已擊碎矣;若道J29nB222_p0012a23不堅固,古人為甚如此道?」
J29nB222_p0012a24瑞環陳居士入山,師舉六祖〈轉識成智歌〉畢,徵云:「作J29nB222_p0012a25麼生會?」士豁然云:「向來聞和尚恁麼舉,如鐙景裏相J29nB222_p0012a26似;今日聞和尚恁麼舉,洞見和尚為人徹頂徹底處。」J29nB222_p0012a27師云:「試道道看!」士拍手大笑云:「莫道某甲無語好。」師J29nB222_p0012a28休去。
J29nB222_p0012a29明玅陳道婆參竹篦子話有年,一日於轉車處忽然J29nB222_p0012a30有省,入山飯僧,問:「承聞和尚打碎茶桮驗事堅固是J29nB222_p0012b01不?」師云:「是,女作麼生?」婆云:「任從滄海變,終不為師通。」J29nB222_p0012b02乃轉身禮拜而去。越五年,示微恙,有〈偈〉曰:「來是誰來?J29nB222_p0012b03去是誰去?兩腳長申,如是如是!」師聞而許之。
J29nB222_p0012b04明理陳道婆入山飯僧,適師為天童悟和尚舉哀,燒J29nB222_p0012b05香畢,婆入來云:「久仰老人,今日得禮三拜。」師云:「道得J29nB222_p0012b06許你禮拜。」云:「恁麼不消得。」轉身便出。
J29nB222_p0012b07明道黃道婆因乞法語,師命僧持去,婆接得云:「和尚J29nB222_p0012b08來也。」僧云:「在甚麼處?」婆擊案一下云:「見麼?」僧無語,師J29nB222_p0012b09聞許之。
J29nB222_p0012b10王道婆送子出家,請師上堂畢,婆指子曰:「且道此兒J29nB222_p0012b11還承當箇甚麼?」師便打,婆自怪云:「也是句賊入家。」

J29nB222_p0012b14常遊楚之南北,而遍覓一箇不畏毒害吞舟之鯉,盡J29nB222_p0012b15其伎而莫之得。客歲天皇山中不下千人,獨一尾肥J29nB222_p0012b16壯赤梢,頗有意於竿頭,大約為文義網羅,一時卒難J29nB222_p0012b17及第。今夏率仝志將華嚴命來,堅請樹法幢之於此J29nB222_p0012b18院,又得一夏盤桓,而腳跟下一似安妥,第力量一時J29nB222_p0012b19未充,乃書歷來相見之語以嘉其志。山僧雖他往,亦J29nB222_p0012b20可極力進道,須待臨機大發,殺活自由,來尋山僧,何J29nB222_p0012b21愁不點頭也哉?
示參原熊居士
J29nB222_p0012b23佛祖盛化,從昔至今而聲揚萬世,無有一人不深操J29nB222_p0012b24遠進稱了事人,必也打起一片長遠鐵石精神,未透J29nB222_p0012b25者必欲透、未徹者必欲徹,然後始承接得下。居士既J29nB222_p0012b26欲為之,亦必也切切諄諄萬年一念,不讓楊內翰、李J29nB222_p0012b27駙馬一絲豪許,而山僧豈不忻然相印邪?
示三和張居士懋鼎
J29nB222_p0012b29一千七百則鐵饅頭,打得開、咬得碎,何愁盡大地不J29nB222_p0012b30光明,亦會萬物為自己矣!碓嘴生華、枯椿結果,豈虛J29nB222_p0012c01語哉?只怕箇綿綿纏纏於世情中膠死了,則錯過生J29nB222_p0012c02平好消息也。山僧如不道過,異日又說我孤女學道J29nB222_p0012c03之志。然必須放下滿架書,與令兄沒量切磋一上,又J29nB222_p0012c04是兩蘇在我堂裏也。公其勉之。
示自文禪人
J29nB222_p0012c06若論此事,不可以有心求、不可以無心會,直須將「萬J29nB222_p0012c07法歸一、一歸何處?我在青州做領布縿重七斤」頓在J29nB222_p0012c08面前。行住坐臥也在面前,穿衣喫飯也在面前,屙屎J29nB222_p0012c09放尿也在面前,待客迎賓也在面前。無一時雜談、無J29nB222_p0012c10一時戲論,終日竟夜豎起眉頭、青著嘴臉,勿懈勿怠。J29nB222_p0012c11如此做去五年十年,若不寤道,山僧頭在頸上,女來J29nB222_p0012c12截取去做箇澆屎勺子。
示玉莽熊居士
J29nB222_p0012c14學士家道心壁直,無一絲委曲、無一豪私染,終日浩J29nB222_p0012c15浩地裏,於兒女叢中不著纖塵竟界,住在世閒,盡其J29nB222_p0012c16壽命七八十歲,不怕病魔不畏生死,學地如是,可謂J29nB222_p0012c17不出欲界而入佛界,山僧豈不羨慕也哉?又云:「住在J29nB222_p0012c18世閒,作事弘廣,客來待之以酉;僧至供之以茶。」謙而J29nB222_p0012c19有禮,威而有德,一步步蹋在實地上,有何天堂地獄?J29nB222_p0012c20惟只一箇本來面目與之仝生仝死、無壞無滅,則真J29nB222_p0012c21火中蓮華也。
示見莽
J29nB222_p0012c23真實為生死,須自己衣單下看是何物,行住坐臥不J29nB222_p0012c24可打落無事甲裏,穿衣喫飯不可走入瞢懂袋中,畢J29nB222_p0012c25竟要覷透根源、見徹窠窟,然後兩手禽著此物,冷笑J29nB222_p0012c26一場來與山僧相見,即不孤女勞力於此保社也。
示會極
J29nB222_p0012c28近墨者黑、近朱者赤。近飄颺,學輕細;近渾厚,學朴實;J29nB222_p0012c29近操持,學勤習;近端嚴,學誠意;近文藝,學詩字;近蓮J29nB222_p0012c30社,學念佛。苟能如此行持,可謂遇竟逢緣,會其至極。J29nB222_p0013a01所言至極,非從人得,從人得者斷斷不是真正消息。
規約
J29nB222_p0013a08者鼓笛,自我初祖東來,打者不可勝紀,然未免鈍置J29nB222_p0013a09英靈,屈仝中下。山僧既是他兒孫,似不必以陳爛繩J29nB222_p0013a10黑而縛諸人於保社者也。第近代以來識心紛擾,不J29nB222_p0013a11無放蕩,而縱情之極,只得又將從上老和尚用過底J29nB222_p0013a12事件揭出,惟吾徒遵之守之,俟啐地折、爆地斷,然後J29nB222_p0013a13罵我魔魅人可也。
J29nB222_p0013a14瞿曇老人一華垂示、兩手分付以來,而東西兩土代J29nB222_p0013a15代相承,莫有一人一世而不以深進遠操、洞貫古今、J29nB222_p0013a16聲揚萬世為急務也。今之禪人猶古之禪人,今古[罩-卓+千]J29nB222_p0013a17閒,而法範焉有不陳不嚴乎?余既濫當是任,不得已J29nB222_p0013a18乃揭數條於僧堂,諒諸人亦必不以跛腳粗漢是厭J29nB222_p0013a19良為賤也,宜共遵之。
佛事
J29nB222_p0013a21自安然上座火。師拈火苣云:「會麼?者便是自安上座J29nB222_p0013a22本來不昧底面目,其來也自安,其去也自安。既然正J29nB222_p0013a23恁麼時,如何是他末後一句?」以火苣攛下云:「只此堂J29nB222_p0013a24堂火把子,山色谿聲白燄中。」
J29nB222_p0013a25大覺寺定光耆宿火。定光大師九十年於盛山峰頂J29nB222_p0013a26般弄佛祖公案,如今一旦斂衣辭眾而去,可謂來亦J29nB222_p0013a27無所從,日明東嶺;去亦無所至,月照西村者也。雖然,J29nB222_p0013a28末後一著猶要棲靈與伊點出。以火苣攛下拍手云:J29nB222_p0013a29「歸去來!歸去來!」
