博山雪關智誾禪師傳
J27nB199_p0535c20 J27nB199_p0535c21師諱智誾,上饒傅氏子,八歲喪父,母鄭氏送依景德J27nB199_p0535c22寺長老傳公為童子。傳公教令頂禮觀音大士,一夕J27nB199_p0535c23夢大士手摩其頂,由是泛覽群書,奭然意解。一日見J27nB199_p0535c24《壇經》「火燒海底」句,疑之,乃參禮博山來公,山令默究J27nB199_p0535c25船子藏身公案,行住坐臥提撕不忘,偶入槽廠,行見J27nB199_p0535c26磨鼻拽脫有省,有偈呈博山,曰:「直下相逄處,由來絕J27nB199_p0535c27覆藏,舌頭元是肉,不用更商量。」博山喜曰:「子可參禪J27nB199_p0536a01也。」後作五頌,請壽昌衲衣,山曰:「宗門語句,如滿口含J27nB199_p0536a02冰,不曾道出水字,子風骨太露,更須死心一番始得。」J27nB199_p0536a03師乃掩關謝客,兀坐返參凡六載,經幾重㓟剝,始徹J27nB199_p0536a04源底,偶作雪關歌,山見稱善,乃為開關,有偈曰:「始行J27nB199_p0536a05大事六年雪,頓入圓明一片冰,今日幸親無縫塔,掣J27nB199_p0536a06開關鎖萬千層。」繼命首眾。一日領眾入室次,山垂問J27nB199_p0536a07曰:「堂中首座,人天眼目。如何是人天眼目?」師曰:「頂門J27nB199_p0536a08上山。」曰:「還假鑑炤也無?」師曰:「君不見。」山曰:「不虛參見J27nB199_p0536a09作家來。」師掩耳而出。己巳受瀛山之請,瀛山古剎四J27nB199_p0536a10壁蕭然,作破院歌以自樂,相國鄭公方水以詩慰之J27nB199_p0536a11曰:「太甲之下是瀛山,依稀破屋兩三間,聞師支傘過J27nB199_p0536a12天漏,譬似楊岐雪滿關。」居無何,博山和尚遷化,師奔J27nB199_p0536a13喪。至喪事畢,眾推繼席,自是往來瀛、博之間,提示不J27nB199_p0536a14倦,督學陳公懋德入山訪師,置二十五問,師應答如J27nB199_p0536a15流,陳大服膺。壬申春,予同諸公以鼓山延師結制,於J27nB199_p0536a16是演法鼓山,玉瑩珠迴、玄風遐播。期滿,還錫博山。丙J27nB199_p0536a17子春,中丞余大成、司理黃端伯,以杭之虎跑請,師應J27nB199_p0536a18之,大弘祖道,口唇纔動,輒滾滾不竭,環師而聽法者J27nB199_p0536a19萬指。繼而妙行請師重建經營,二載大殿落成,師曰:J27nB199_p0536a20「吾今可以謝喻彌陀矣。」丁丑秋示微恙,乃謝院事,鼓J27nB199_p0536a21舟南邁,孟冬朔旦行抵瀛山,病體尪羸,群心洶洶,乃J27nB199_p0536a22作遺書謝諸檀越。時壽昌闃公自博山來候,匡坐敘J27nB199_p0536a23別悰,闃公問:「和尚安否?」師曰:「且道我生耶死耶?」闃公J27nB199_p0536a24曰:「末後句也須分付。」師彈指一聲,遂微笑而逝。弟子J27nB199_p0536a25弘恩、成許等迎歸博山,建塔蓮花峰之西原。師示生J27nB199_p0536a26萬曆乙酉年九月初一日,示寂崇禎丁丑年十月十J27nB199_p0536a27一日,坐三十一夏,享年五十有三,有語錄六卷。

J27nB199_p0536b04初住院,示眾:「昔日楊岐會禪師輔弼慈明時,師資道J27nB199_p0536b06合、雪曲賡酬,後來卻住個荒村破院,老屋敗椽僅J27nB199_p0536b07蔽風雨,人不堪其憂,師獨不改其樂。衲子有請更J27nB199_p0536b08創者,固止之曰:『爾輩出家,做手腳未穩,早已四五J27nB199_p0536b09十歲,何暇閒工夫事豐屋耶?』翌日上堂,云:『楊岐乍J27nB199_p0536b10住屋壁疏,滿床盡撒雪珍珠,縮卻項,暗嗟吁,翻憶J27nB199_p0536b11古人樹下居。』觀此老,銅筋鐵骨,久經大冶紅爐;雪J27nB199_p0536b12膽冰肝,堅耐歲寒節操,故能砥柱法門,力振慈明J27nB199_p0536b13之道、中興臨濟之宗,令人千載慕藺不及也。某雖J27nB199_p0536b14乏古人風致,然亦頭腦相似,忝依博山二十餘年,J27nB199_p0536b15媿無輔弼之才,濫膺椎拂之任。今力盡神疲,稍尋J27nB199_p0536b16個小歇場,強來住此。瀛山破院,籬穿壁壞,日炙風J27nB199_p0536b17吹,且與諸昆仲共喫些麤茶淡飯,過此時光,不曾J27nB199_p0536b18將佛法二字挂人唇齒。今晚茶筵為某禪人特請J27nB199_p0536b19開示,誾上座別無布施,聊拈一偈,以當效顰。瀛山J27nB199_p0536b20乍住壁籬疏,冰滿床兮雪滿廬,受用不嫌真淡泊,J27nB199_p0536b21家風親見趙州無。」
J27nB199_p0536b22端陽,示眾:「江天空闊鳥低飛,鰲鼓喧闐競渡時,兩岸J27nB199_p0536b23高聲齊喝彩,看誰奪得錦標歸。諸道友!弄潮作戲J27nB199_p0536b24尚且不顧危亡,破釜焚舟必先鼓其銳志,何況生J27nB199_p0536b25死事大,若不努力打徹,決了何期?心苟怯弱,終為J27nB199_p0536b26落節之人;志意堅,強纔是勝敵之手。虎鬥龍爭即J27nB199_p0536b27不問,急水拋篙一著又作麼生?大膽駕頭衝浪過,J27nB199_p0536c01小膽難忘覆溺愁。」
J27nB199_p0536c02浴佛日,示眾:「釋迦老子向無生處說生,破院道人無J27nB199_p0536c03生可說;釋迦老子向無滅處說滅,破院道人無滅J27nB199_p0536c04可說。與麼道,釋迦老子全身在生滅之內,破院道J27nB199_p0536c05人全身跳出生滅之外。且道跳出底是?在內底是?J27nB199_p0536c06不見古德道:『他人住處我不住,他人行處我不行,J27nB199_p0536c07不是與人難共住,大都緇素要分明。』若向者裏緇J27nB199_p0536c08素得出,跳出底不妨在內,在內底不妨跳出,搊住J27nB199_p0536c09釋迦老子鼻孔,一任轉身吐氣,務破破院道人面J27nB199_p0536c10門,豈礙簇錦攢花。何以故?無生猶是末,聲色本非J27nB199_p0536c11生,不因荷葉動,那識有魚行。雖然如是,三十年後J27nB199_p0536c12莫道破院道人為你諸人說夢。」
J27nB199_p0536c13除夕,示眾:「溈山大師道:『欲識佛性義,當觀時節因緣。J27nB199_p0536c14時節若至,其理自彰。』諸禪德!今夜是除夕,明旦是J27nB199_p0536c15元朝,時節已至,作麼生是自彰之理?誾上座二十J27nB199_p0536c16年前,如個木偶相似,寒不知寒、熱不知熱,桃符換J27nB199_p0536c17不管春來、爆竹響那知臘盡,雖則如癡似懵,要且J27nB199_p0536c18世法瞞我一點不得。二十年後,依然業識從頭,寒J27nB199_p0536c19便知寒、熱便知熱,迎新歲也貼門神、送殘冬還燒J27nB199_p0536c20榾柮,雖則隨波逐浪,要且佛法瞞我一點不得。如J27nB199_p0536c21今跛跛挈挈,只與麼過時光,說知也得,說不知也J27nB199_p0536c22得,說知不知總得。何故?不萌枝上從來暗辨春秋,J27nB199_p0536c23無影峰頭幾番明占氣候。秪如年更歲換、臘去春J27nB199_p0536c24來,在諸人分上還是知耶?是不知耶?若道知,未免J27nB199_p0536c25順俗違真,不了佛法邊事,坐在塵俗境界中,謾道J27nB199_p0536c26花枝偏有色,空勞鶯語為誰嬌;若道不知,又是順J27nB199_p0536c27真逆俗,不了世法邊事,坐在淨白窠臼裏,只為冰J27nB199_p0537a01堅難躍鯉,卻緣水淺不藏龍。只如去此二途,畢竟J27nB199_p0537a02怎生說個真俗雙彰底道理?還會麼?鶻臭布衫都J27nB199_p0537a03脫卻,穿婆帔子拜婆年。」
問荅
J27nB199_p0537a05僧問:「昔日黃龍,今日瀛山,法席不同,法門無二。即今J27nB199_p0537a06龍象之中,如何是不二之談?」師云:「眉毛分八字。」進J27nB199_p0537a07云:「分後如何?」師云:「疊疊見青山。」進云:「見後如何?」師J27nB199_p0537a08云:「拈卻如何若何。」進云:「門裏出身易,身裏出門難。J27nB199_p0537a09即今六路齊收,出門一句,求師指示。」師云:「一線通J27nB199_p0537a10天別有門。」進云:「好個無生曲,繇來和者稀。」師云:「誰J27nB199_p0537a11是其人?」僧禮拜,歸眾。
J27nB199_p0537a12問:「世尊出世曇花現,瑞地湧金蓮;和尚出世有何祥J27nB199_p0537a13瑞?」師云:「火裏青蓮朵朵鮮。」進云:「還有為人處也無?」J27nB199_p0537a14師曰:「隨家豐儉。」進云:「分明踏在瀛山上,為甚麼看J27nB199_p0537a15到瀛山早已遲?」師云:「秪識門前路,難尋殿後峰。」進J27nB199_p0537a16云:「山後事如何?」師云:「屋頂青松繞翠屏。」進云:「更有J27nB199_p0537a17向上玄津,乞師指示。」師云:「今日不向汝道。」進云:「為J27nB199_p0537a18何不道?」師云:「案山未點頭在。」

J27nB199_p0537a21問:「大冶紅爐,煉凡煉聖;體非凡聖,作麼生煉?」師云:「烹J27nB199_p0537a22金雖有彩,治玉本無瑕。」進云:「意旨如何?」師云:「重疊J27nB199_p0537a23關山千萬層。」

J27nB199_p0537b02崇禎壬申春信州眾檀越及合山大眾請師住博山,J27nB199_p0537b03以四月朔旦開堂。
J27nB199_p0537b04上堂,拈香云:「此一瓣香,氣壓群芳,遍空遍界,光吞萬J27nB199_p0537b05象,亙古亙今,爇向爐中,專為祝延J27nB199_p0537b06今上皇帝聖壽萬安 皇后齊齡 東宮衍慶,伏願J27nB199_p0537b07金甌永固,滿朝盡是夔龍;黃河再清,四海爭歌堯J27nB199_p0537b08舜。此一瓣香,無煙火處拈來,薰凡灼聖;沒鼻孔人J27nB199_p0537b09嗅著,徹地通天,爇向爐中,專為山中 檀越,外護J27nB199_p0537b10眾居士,所冀真俗不二,遠繼龐老之風;心境雙融,J27nB199_p0537b11大露蘇公之舌。此一瓣香,價高無比,靈根占斷,娑J27nB199_p0537b12婆酷烈難當,毒氣親由洞水,今日爇向爐中,專伸J27nB199_p0537b13供養 博山堂上先大師異和尚,用酬法乳之恩。」J27nB199_p0537b14斂衣就座。維那白椎竟,師乃曰:「夫為沙門,欲荷擔J27nB199_p0537b15大法者,必須先明第一義,具擇法眼,然後思所以J27nB199_p0537b16弘法利生,於二六時中,法為家務、法為城墻、法為J27nB199_p0537b17舟車、法為茶膳。不見祖師道:『心同虛空界,示等虛J27nB199_p0537b18空法,證得虛空時,無是無非法。』古今悟道知識橫J27nB199_p0537b19說豎說,總是說此無是無非之法,妙在舌頭不黏J27nB199_p0537b20著肉、好眼不屑點沙,終日說有不墮常、終日說無J27nB199_p0537b21不落空、終日說非有非無不屬相違、終日說亦有J27nB199_p0537b22亦無不名戲論,撤四句之籓籬、翻百非之窠臼,如J27nB199_p0537b23吹毛在手,殺活自由,如明鏡當臺,妍媸隨炤,所以J27nB199_p0537b24道法無定相,遇緣即宗。大抵法性寬波瀾闊,纔是J27nB199_p0537b25大方家接人手段,著著都有妙處。今時學做善知J27nB199_p0537b26識為人說法者,多求其深知法體、深通法性,善說J27nB199_p0537b27法要者如麟頂覓角無幾人耳。初心參學分上,若J27nB199_p0537c01大理未明、大法未了,必須要真實操履、真實究竟。J27nB199_p0537c02果到此個田地,即使埋藏山谷不肯出頭,自有人J27nB199_p0537c03剜肉然燈、捨身為座,雖諸天魔梵亦將下來請轉J27nB199_p0537c04法輪,豈闡提隻手能掩其太陽光輝乎!今日檀越J27nB199_p0537c05眾居士洎合山諸禪德,殷勤勸請山僧舉揚博山J27nB199_p0537c06宗旨,如將千斤擔子逼上肩頭,責備將來躲閃不J27nB199_p0537c07得,山僧只得冒登此座,為諸兄弟說幾句麤茶淡J27nB199_p0537c08飯;若喚作說法,大有人笑者個蟲豸在。笑則任從,J27nB199_p0537c09且道誾上座畢竟是博山逆子耶?孝子耶?」卓拄杖J27nB199_p0537c10云:「自從拗折撩天杖,今日重拈活似龍。」復卓一下J27nB199_p0537c11云:「珍重。」
J27nB199_p0537c12沙縣陳秉初居士請上堂。「萬水千山特地來,為緣聽J27nB199_p0537c13法請登臺,山僧指示無他語,長夏山中正熟梅。昔J27nB199_p0537c14甘贄行者入南泉設齋,仍請南泉禪師念誦,泉乃J27nB199_p0537c15白椎云:『請大眾為狸奴白牯念摩訶般若波羅密。』J27nB199_p0537c16行者拂袖便出。南泉齋後問典座:『行者在甚麼處?』J27nB199_p0537c17座云:『當時便去也。』南泉便打破鍋子。」拈云:「甘贄入J27nB199_p0537c18寺設齋,砒霜甜似蜜;南泉打破鍋子,毒手利如錐。J27nB199_p0537c19簡點將來,父子失情,匆匆放過。今日陳居士若請J27nB199_p0537c20山僧念誦,秪向他道:『住持事繁。』免得打破鍋子傷J27nB199_p0537c21了客情。山僧與麼道,且道與古人是同是別?」良久J27nB199_p0537c22云:「曹溪波浪如相似,無限平人被陸沉。」
J27nB199_p0537c23四月八日上堂。「教中道:『未離兜率,已降皇宮;未出母J27nB199_p0537c24胎,度人已畢。』與麼說話,大似一床錦被蓋孩兒,遮J27nB199_p0537c25掩得好。諸道友!若向父母未生前覷得破,便見盡J27nB199_p0537c26大地是釋迦老子面孔,盡大地亦是諸人自己面J27nB199_p0537c27孔,諸人自己面孔與釋迦老子面孔更無差別;於J27nB199_p0538a01此不會,卻勞他從頭離兜率、降皇宮、出母胎、度幻J27nB199_p0538a02眾,真個是納一場敗闕,所以初生下來,便乃指天J27nB199_p0538a03指地,獨自稱尊。二千年外,卻被一個跛腳阿師,要J27nB199_p0538a04一棒打殺與狗子喫,貴圖天下太平。諸兄弟!雲門J27nB199_p0538a05一棒剛要打殺釋迦老子,山僧今日一棒恰要打J27nB199_p0538a06殺雲門。秪如山僧替釋迦老子出氣,諸兄弟!還有J27nB199_p0538a07替跛腳阿師雪屈者麼?」眾默然,師笑曰:「不是山僧J27nB199_p0538a08逞人我,果然難得十成人。」
J27nB199_p0538a09栴檀像成,洪惟心居士請上堂。「趙州云:『我有時將一J27nB199_p0538a10莖草作丈六金身用,有時將丈六金身當一莖草J27nB199_p0538a11用。』曹山問僧云:『佛真法身,猶若虛空,應物現形,如J27nB199_p0538a12水中月。作麼生說個應底道理?』僧云:『如驢覷井。』山J27nB199_p0538a13云:『道也太煞道,秪道得八成。』僧云:『和尚作麼生?』山J27nB199_p0538a14云:『如井覷驢。』山僧道:善塑無如曹山,善彫無如趙J27nB199_p0538a15老,不露些子刀痕,真個手段高妙。若會得如驢覷J27nB199_p0538a16井,便曉莖草化作金身;若會得如井覷驢,便曉丈J27nB199_p0538a17六金身當草。目犍連枉運神通,優填王徒煩匠巧,J27nB199_p0538a18丹霞正令劈頭行,誰道子孫賢不肖。今日是新安J27nB199_p0538a19洪惟心居士設齋,為報薦先慈,敬塑栴檀尊像一J27nB199_p0538a20軀,送入先師塔院供養,仍勞書幣殷勤,以山僧誕J27nB199_p0538a21辰,懇請為眾說法。說法且置,畢竟造像齋僧,有何J27nB199_p0538a22功德?」卓杖云:「不求有漏人天福,大孝全彰古佛心。」
J27nB199_p0538a23上堂,舉:「玄沙大師問鏡清云:『古人道「不見一法是大J27nB199_p0538a24過患」,你且道不見甚麼法?』清指露柱云:『莫是者個J27nB199_p0538a25法麼?』沙云:『浙中清水白米從你喫,佛法未夢見在。』」J27nB199_p0538a26師拈云:「此一則公案,不識者將謂玄沙不肯鏡清,J27nB199_p0538a27殊不知兩尊宿旗鼓相當、塤箎迭奏,可稱難兄難J27nB199_p0538b01弟矣。所以天童老人道:『鏡清久不作佛法夢也。』又J27nB199_p0538b02云:『須是玄沙同參始得。』天童可謂善知無舌語、解J27nB199_p0538b03聽沒絃琴,真個是二老賞音者也。若作勝負商量,J27nB199_p0538b04此人未夢見佛法在。近來法門淡薄,兄弟家相見,J27nB199_p0538b05惟敘寒溫、情面款待,佛法二字絕口不談。看他古J27nB199_p0538b06人一唱一酬之間,如函合蓋、似箭投鋒,足為千古J27nB199_p0538b07眼目。今日是五慈禪友從浙中來,以久參先博山J27nB199_p0538b08之故,特來掃塔、設齋供眾,仍請山僧上堂,激揚斯J27nB199_p0538b09道。可見世雖末法,人尚古風,不媿為法門昆仲矣。J27nB199_p0538b10然正眼觀來不是好心,何故?你在浙中喫了清水J27nB199_p0538b11白米,卻來累及山僧償他口債。且道口債作麼生J27nB199_p0538b12償?」擲下拂子云:「除是維摩老,知吾施受心。」
J27nB199_p0538b13報薦先相國方水大居士上堂:「心眼本開,無奈空花J27nB199_p0538b14自翳;性天廓朗,只因迷霧長昏。佛說世智辯聰是J27nB199_p0538b15八難中之一,以學解多知遂成理障,故翻不轉文J27nB199_p0538b16字窠臼、打不破生死牢關當。其迷時,文字語言總J27nB199_p0538b17是障道根本;及其悟也,語言文字原是解脫正因,J27nB199_p0538b18妙在反手覆手耳。昔李渤刺史問歸宗常禪師云:J27nB199_p0538b19『須彌納芥子,某即不疑;芥子納須彌,莫是妄譚否?』J27nB199_p0538b20宗云:『人人傳使君讀萬卷書籍是否?』李云:『然。』宗云:J27nB199_p0538b21『摩頂至踵如椰子大者,萬卷書向何處著?』李復問:J27nB199_p0538b22『一大藏教明甚麼邊事?』宗舉拳示之云:『會麼?』李云:J27nB199_p0538b23『不會。』宗云:『者措大拳頭也不識。』李云:『請師指示。』宗J27nB199_p0538b24云:『會則途中受用,不會則世諦流布。』」師拈云:「萬卷J27nB199_p0538b25書,何處著?伸腳處,便縮腳。掀翻窠臼絕狐疑,真個J27nB199_p0538b26拳頭好作略,不在途中不在家,世諦流布亦不惡。」J27nB199_p0538b27下座。
J27nB199_p0538c01上堂:「據理而論,世法中埋沒多少人,佛法中醒卻多J27nB199_p0538c02少人?爭柰古德道:『佛法中迷卻多少人,世法中悟J27nB199_p0538c03卻多少人?』古德此語未易搆他語脈何也?佛法固J27nB199_p0538c04是難通,紅塵撲地能有幾個輥出頭來?若往昔未J27nB199_p0538c05熏般若,直須正念全提,如猛將戰出重圍,方可解J27nB199_p0538c06戈卸甲。到此則太平世界任謳歌堯舜之風,清白J27nB199_p0538c07門庭爭接起夔龍之武,不礙逢場作戲,何妨借路J27nB199_p0538c08還鄉。秪要踏得穩、靠得實,然後擴為利濟、廣被無J27nB199_p0538c09涯,將世法喚作佛法,將佛法喚作世法,有何不可?J27nB199_p0538c10雖然如是,秪恐不是玉,是玉也太奇。」
J27nB199_p0538c11舟中放燈小參:「性水澄清元無漂沒,妄波鼓動遂有J27nB199_p0538c12昇沉,既迷出世津梁,不睹光明寶藏。千波競湧,誰J27nB199_p0538c13然照水之犀;一口吸乾,孰是倒瀾之手?溺而不溺,J27nB199_p0538c14直須跳出者層波;生而不生,轉取騰霄那一步。只J27nB199_p0538c15如白浪滔天,還有不被顛溺者麼?」良久云:「移舟不J27nB199_p0538c16別水,舉棹即迷源。」
J27nB199_p0538c17小參:「生從何處來,死從何處去?大家業識茫茫,可憐J27nB199_p0538c18無本可據。秪如有本可據底人又作麼生?拏住布J27nB199_p0538c19袋口,擲卻拄杖子,左手控飛龍,右手跨猛虎,亂把J27nB199_p0538c20繡毬拋,倒踞香臺舞,浪蕩不歸家,何彼復何此。彼J27nB199_p0538c21此且置,秪如今夜,現前大眾畢竟是業識耶,非業J27nB199_p0538c22識耶?是有本可據耶,無本可據耶?咄!不入祖師室,J27nB199_p0538c23茫然趣兩頭。」
J27nB199_p0538c24懺堂小參:「若論本地風光,如摩天俊鶻,豈落二機;如J27nB199_p0538c25踞地師子,全威不動。直下便見,無第二人,擬議即J27nB199_p0538c26乖,焉容鈍置。正位尚嫌尊貴,偏方豈落程途。旋風J27nB199_p0538c27千匝打歸來,機輪絕斷無回互。昔三祖求二祖懺J27nB199_p0539a01罪,二祖云:『將罪來與汝懺。』三祖云:『覓罪了不可得。』J27nB199_p0539a02二祖云:『與汝懺罪竟。』審如是,理懺尚且不有,事懺J27nB199_p0539a03更復何憑?假饒事理雙融,便證禮佛三昧也,未知J27nB199_p0539a04有向上事在。汝等諸人不可匆匆放過。珍重!」
J27nB199_p0539a05茶話:「如來常寂光,如月印秋水,眾生心水濁,月即被J27nB199_p0539a06雲遮。佛開淨土門,豈離心境有?心淨土亦淨,吞卻J27nB199_p0539a07山河影;土淨心亦淨,擊碎玻璃鏡。心土二俱離,蓮J27nB199_p0539a08花出淤泥;心上二俱即,娑婆真樂國。賣花人,過野J27nB199_p0539a09橋,香巢松鶴,唳疏枝仄,且道畢竟事作麼生?」師按J27nB199_p0539a10指云:「東土西天,一絲不隔,今夜是鄭式蘧居士入J27nB199_p0539a11山修懺,報薦淑人張氏,有令兄爾周居士設茶供J27nB199_p0539a12養大眾,命山僧鼓兩片皮。當知淑人靈爽,頓坐上J27nB199_p0539a13品花輪,親瞻紫磨金相去也。夜寒,珍重。」
J27nB199_p0539a14茶話:「身心猶泡沫,世界若乾城,情想等空花,生死如J27nB199_p0539a15夢幻,不達夢幻,無以超生死;不了空花,無以破情J27nB199_p0539a16想;不識乾城,無以出世界;不知泡沫,無以了身心。J27nB199_p0539a17譬如空中蜃氣,許多妄認樓臺;陽焰非波,渴鹿謂J27nB199_p0539a18真是水,所以輪迴苦海無有脫期。圓覺經云:『知幻J27nB199_p0539a19即離,不作方便,離幻即覺,亦無漸次。』若能如是,究J27nB199_p0539a20竟不妨宴坐水月道場,轉此如幻法輪,降伏鏡裏J27nB199_p0539a21魔軍,成就夢中佛事。到此境界,則所謂如夢幻、如J27nB199_p0539a22空花、如乾城、如泡沫者,皆如海印發光,成就游戲J27nB199_p0539a23三昧矣。今夜鄭式蘧居士追薦淑靈張氏,設此茶J27nB199_p0539a24筵,我等飲水謝源,不可忘卻檀施。且道不忘底意J27nB199_p0539a25如何?」師乃拈起果子召眾,眾舉首,師笑云:「不可日J27nB199_p0539a26用而不知。」
J27nB199_p0539a27茶話,舉:「僧問雲門:『如何是法身邊事?』門曰:『枯樁。』又問:J27nB199_p0539b01『如何是法身向上事?』門云:『非枯樁。』若論法身邊事,J27nB199_p0539b02知有底能知;若論法身向上事,不知有底卻又知。J27nB199_p0539b03或有個知有不知有底出來,你道此人是會得枯J27nB199_p0539b04樁耶,非枯樁耶?」師舉起茶盞云:「張三貪杯,李四酒J27nB199_p0539b05醉,茶鍾落地,果碟粉碎。直饒曉得正按傍提,也難J27nB199_p0539b06與睦州老人弄唇接觜。」
問荅
J27nB199_p0539b08僧問:「和尚為人一句作麼生道?」師云:「縵天帳子,無人J27nB199_p0539b09見笑,把鮫珠倒撒來。」進云:「三聖道:『我逄人即出,出J27nB199_p0539b10即不為人。』此意如何?」師云:「我不似烏龜鑽破壁。」進J27nB199_p0539b11云:「興化道:『我逄人即不出,出即便為人。』又作麼生?」J27nB199_p0539b12師云:「也是反手卸籠頭。」進云:「正當出與未出時如J27nB199_p0539b13何?」師云:「眼橫鼻豎。」僧禮拜。
J27nB199_p0539b14僧問:「德山托缽上堂,雪峰道:『鐘未鳴,鼓未響,者老漢J27nB199_p0539b15托缽向甚處去?』德山便歸方丈。此意如何?」師云:「竿J27nB199_p0539b16頭纔露影,誰識轉身人?」進云:「巖頭云:『大小德山不J27nB199_p0539b17知末後句。』未審不知在甚麼處?」師云:「攘羊證父。」進J27nB199_p0539b18云:「密啟其意,未審如何?」師云:「汝道他是甚意?」進云:J27nB199_p0539b19「德山便休去,不知是何心行。」師云:「纔是德山。」進云:J27nB199_p0539b20「明日上堂,果與尋常不同。不知不同在甚麼處?」師J27nB199_p0539b21云:「汝且道我今日上堂是尋常、是不同?」進云:「且喜J27nB199_p0539b22老漢會末後句,不知會在甚麼處?」師云:「末後句且J27nB199_p0539b23置,汝還見德山麼?」進云:「巖頭云:『秪得三年活。』未審J27nB199_p0539b24巖頭具甚麼眼便恁麼道?」師云:「也是蠅子放卵,不J27nB199_p0539b25顧佛頭。」進云:「謝師荅話。」師不顧。
J27nB199_p0539b26僧問:「離四句,絕百非,請師直指西來意。」師云:「千年池J27nB199_p0539b27裏鱉,一釣上竿來。」僧擬議,師云:「倒拖出去著。」
J27nB199_p0539c01僧問:「先鋒即不問,如何是殿後事?」師云:「出身雖有路,J27nB199_p0539c02轉步莫迷蹤。」進云:「三軍一命,重在己權。」師云:「倒跨J27nB199_p0539c03毘盧印,橫揮寶劍寒。」進云:「恁麼則四海謳歌樂有J27nB199_p0539c04餘。」師云:「是甚麼歌?」答云:「吽!吽!」師云:「汝卻解西天人J27nB199_p0539c05梵語。」
J27nB199_p0539c06僧問:「上來道個不審,能銷萬兩黃金,下去道個珍重,J27nB199_p0539c07亦銷得四天下供養。若作佛法會,滴水難消;若作J27nB199_p0539c08無事商量,眼中著屑。請問和尚如何即是?」師云:「你J27nB199_p0539c09卻銷得幾何?」僧一喝,師云:「秪易叱他泥犢子,難教J27nB199_p0539c10擊碎鶻崙磚。」僧云:「光透日月,明暗不收時如何?」師J27nB199_p0539c11云:「是甚麼光?」僧又喝,師云:「莫便是光麼?」僧又喝,師J27nB199_p0539c12云:「你只有者個結局。」便打。
J27nB199_p0539c13僧問:「落葉知秋即不問,如何是把定乾坤句?」師云:「恰J27nB199_p0539c14值中秋節。」進云:「不跨雲橋浪裏舟,因甚人在彼岸?」J27nB199_p0539c15師云:「闍黎掉在水裏。」進云:「恁麼風捲嶺頭雲,浪翻J27nB199_p0539c16潭底月去也。」師云:「那裏學得虛頭來?」僧無語,師便J27nB199_p0539c17打。
J27nB199_p0539c18僧問:「恁麼來時如何?」師云:「看取腳下。」進云:「不恁麼來J27nB199_p0539c19時如何?」師云:「轉身就位。」進云:「恁麼不恁麼來時如J27nB199_p0539c20何?」師云:「撞入葛藤窠。」僧禮拜。
J27nB199_p0539c21僧問:「如何是賓中賓?」師云:「面面撲灰塵。」進云:「如何是J27nB199_p0539c22主中主?」師云:「猊床不露影。」進云:「如何是主中賓。」師J27nB199_p0539c23云:「出門不上路。」進云:「如何是賓中主?」師云:「歸家不J27nB199_p0539c24坐堂。」進云:「賓主句蒙師指示,知音一句作麼生?」師J27nB199_p0539c25云:「試唱一曲看。」
學憲陳雲怡居士問
J27nB199_p0539c27問:「蒙示末後句最為要緊,敢先問取當頭一句?」師云:J27nB199_p0540a01「掉轉身來看。」
J27nB199_p0540a02問:「眼見餓夫滿前,自無粒米,陡起悲心,作何救濟?」師J27nB199_p0540a03云:「雖無粒米,倒廩傾倉。」
J27nB199_p0540a04問:「自己與千人萬人同餓,偶得半升脫粟,還食自己、J27nB199_p0540a05還食千人萬人?若食自己,安能獨餐?若食千人萬J27nB199_p0540a06人,如何分飽?」師云:「偪塞虛空,何分饑飽。」
J27nB199_p0540a07問:「咒咀諸毒藥所欲害身者,念彼觀音力還著於本J27nB199_p0540a08人。東坡居士杜撰改還著句云:『大家都沒事。』俗眼J27nB199_p0540a09觀之,卻是大士憯刻東坡。平等慧眼觀之,如何領J27nB199_p0540a10取?」師云:「笑倒補陀巖。」
J27nB199_p0540a11問:「跛鱉曳尾泥中,腳腳著地;神龍夭矯雲際,首尾無J27nB199_p0540a12蹤。兩者孰實孰虛,孰勝孰劣?」師云:「深含獨占更加J27nB199_p0540a13參。」
J27nB199_p0540a14問:「眼見分明,不肯全身拶入,過在甚處?」師云:「夜鼠愈J27nB199_p0540a15走,凍蠅不飛。」又云:「過在不肯處。」
J27nB199_p0540a16問:「多生來一領貼肉布衫如何即脫?」師云:「要脫作麼?」
J27nB199_p0540a17問:「家珍雖不被劫,偷兒時來零竊,如何勦除?」師云:「一J27nB199_p0540a18齊颺下著。」
J27nB199_p0540a19問:「彈無絃之琴,唱希聲之曲,急切覓不得一個半個J27nB199_p0540a20知音,請問博山三十年來知音有幾?」師云:「蒙此一J27nB199_p0540a21問,直待案山點頭。」
J27nB199_p0540a22問:「廓今無問,師作何答?」師云:「早知居士有此一問。」
鼓山語錄
J27nB199_p0540b02崇禎壬申,總憲能始曹公、農部得山林公及眾鄉紳,J27nB199_p0540b03請師于福州鼓山湧泉禪寺結制,以六月初三日J27nB199_p0540b04入院。
J27nB199_p0540b05上堂,拈香云:「此一瓣香,端為祝延J27nB199_p0540b06今上皇帝聖壽萬安,伏願 一人常有慶,萬國永無J27nB199_p0540b07虞。此一瓣香,專為山中 檀越護法、宰官居士,伏J27nB199_p0540b08願作儒宗之柱石,為法苑之金湯。此一瓣香,專伸J27nB199_p0540b09供養 博山堂上先大師異和尚,少酬法乳之恩。」J27nB199_p0540b10就座。白椎畢,師乃云:「若論佛法,如蚊子上鐵牛,無J27nB199_p0540b11你開口處,未免權向第二門頭說個譬喻去。若要J27nB199_p0540b12造進此道,如人行路一般,必先尋一條直捷路上J27nB199_p0540b13行,更要向差別路頭一一透過始得。秪如山僧在J27nB199_p0540b14博山束裝出門,諸兄弟有先從柘浦抵芝城,順舟J27nB199_p0540b15而下,不數日便到鼓山,何等快捷。山僧從鵝湖穿J27nB199_p0540b16馬嶺,經壽昌、登廣福、涉鐔津,其間歷峻嶺而千盤、J27nB199_p0540b17經迴溪而百折,所過州城,紛人士香花之接,遍遊J27nB199_p0540b18蘭若,觀叢林法化之儀,經六十餘日,始到鼓山,何J27nB199_p0540b19等曲折。若論一踏便到,諸兄弟誠得便宜;若要曲J27nB199_p0540b20盡逶迤,須學山僧,重重經過險難始得。今人參學,J27nB199_p0540b21多喜直捷理會,不知果有見處,更要透過差別關J27nB199_p0540b22頭,始具決擇法眼,然後清機歷掌、珠滾盤圓,萬化J27nB199_p0540b23從心、兵隨印轉。咄!此總是途路邊事,料掉沒交涉。J27nB199_p0540b24且到家一句作麼生道?大眾!無事各自歸堂好。」
J27nB199_p0540b25結制上堂:「亂意猿奔樹,塵緣馬過橋,不到心空處,何J27nB199_p0540b26日得開交。所以古人立個期限,要你向甕中捉鱉。J27nB199_p0540b27諸兄弟!直須內不住心、外不住境,黏膠既脫、窠臼J27nB199_p0540c01掀翻,果到心境雙亡,正好通個消息。若有露得消J27nB199_p0540c02息者,山僧當拭目以待。咦!龍門高萬仞,騰躍是何J27nB199_p0540c03人?」
J27nB199_p0540c04誕日上堂,僧問:「象赴龍奔,各趨慶賀,請問和尚年多J27nB199_p0540c05少?」師云:「與拄杖子同年。」進云:「然則不歷春秋度,常J27nB199_p0540c06延不老春也。」師云:「狸奴白牯自知時。」僧禮拜歸位。J27nB199_p0540c07師乃云:「業風吹墮閻浮界,肉襖頻經脫換來,覷破J27nB199_p0540c08未生前面目,方知露柱是娘胎。教中道:『諸法不自J27nB199_p0540c09生,亦不從他生,不共不無因,是故說無生。』山僧道:J27nB199_p0540c10諸法從自生,亦復從他生,亦共亦無因,說甚麼無J27nB199_p0540c11生?諸兄弟!若向教中意會去,如斬開荊棘,指出一J27nB199_p0540c12條大路;若向山僧句裏會去,如不動旗鎗,便爾就J27nB199_p0540c13路還家,所謂發足有殊到家則一也。」僧出問:「和尚J27nB199_p0540c14因甚麼忘卻生身父母,與露柱作兒?」師曰:「苗從地J27nB199_p0540c15發,花借春開。」便下座。
J27nB199_p0540c16解制上堂:「諸兄弟!九十日期今已滿,閉門作活事如J27nB199_p0540c17何?不曾捏殺獼猴子,重疊關山未易過。大抵末法J27nB199_p0540c18禪期,真參罕遇,縱他意樹抽枝,未見心花成片。雖J27nB199_p0540c19然如是,冷灰裏豈無一粒豆爆!還有不跨石門扶J27nB199_p0540c20豎晏祖門風者麼?如無,且向蘆花深處宿,月明穿J27nB199_p0540c21過釣魚臺。」
J27nB199_p0540c22元旦上堂:「春色無分新舊,年光豈有去來,洞見剎那J27nB199_p0540c23三際,從他葉落花開。不見白楊順禪師道:『染緣易J27nB199_p0540c24就,道業難成。』不了目前萬緣差別,秪如昨日喚作J27nB199_p0540c25除歲,今日喚作元朝,浮字虛名,憑誰安得?若乃千J27nB199_p0540c26門爆竹,使大地而驚雷;萬戶桃符,替虛空而挂彩,J27nB199_p0540c27銀燭透紗籠之影,銅瓶簪楊柳之春,堂奏管絃響J27nB199_p0541a01送木人之耳,爐燒榾柮威袪石女之寒,景物森然,J27nB199_p0541a02風光滿目。若喚作目前底法,則心外別有境象;若J27nB199_p0541a03是自家屋裏事,如何領略此段生涯?還委悉麼?根J27nB199_p0541a04塵元是吾家寶,無柰空花翳眼珠,果爾斯須常返J27nB199_p0541a05照,自然不到喪居諸。」
J27nB199_p0541a06茶話:「喫茶知是茶味,喫飯知是飯味,因甚麼又道『人J27nB199_p0541a07莫不飲食,鮮能知味。』不見僧參趙州,州問:『曾到此J27nB199_p0541a08間否?』僧云:『已到。』州云:『喫茶去。』又問一僧:『曾到此間J27nB199_p0541a09否?』僧云:『不曾到。』州云:『喫茶去。』監院問云:『和尚因甚J27nB199_p0541a10麼到也喫茶、不到也喫茶?』州喚院主,院應諾,州云:J27nB199_p0541a11『喫茶去。』諸禪德!若知趙州三度茶話,則茶味飯味J27nB199_p0541a12徹底皆知。諸兄弟!須知此茶不論主賓、寧拘好醜,J27nB199_p0541a13南北東西各一杯,虛空澆濕眉毛皺。大眾!夜寒,珍J27nB199_p0541a14重。」
J27nB199_p0541a15茶話:「乾坤靡久停之客,紅顏無可駐之丹,日月穿眼J27nB199_p0541a16底之梭,人命似急流之水。伶俐漢抖碎虛空,驀翻J27nB199_p0541a17筋斗,便好向急水灘頭下得腳穩,就無陰樹下終J27nB199_p0541a18日打眠,然後拈來,世諦總是曇花轉步,塵勞無非J27nB199_p0541a19華藏。諸道友!果能到此境界,不妨道個處處綠楊J27nB199_p0541a20堪繫馬,家家有路透長安。」
J27nB199_p0541a21辭眾茶話:「山僧今晚借龍泉上人一杯茶與諸君告J27nB199_p0541a22別。當知山僧來也不曾出博山,去也不曾離鼓山,J27nB199_p0541a23紛紛盡是拖泥水,動念無端滯往還,總是情關不J27nB199_p0541a24破、識浪難乾,所以把手忍分、判袂愁訣,當知道人J27nB199_p0541a25分上卻不其然。不見進山主云:『來來實不來,途中J27nB199_p0541a26好善為;去去實不去,路上莫虧危。』若知得山主底J27nB199_p0541a27意,便知誾上座不離丈室常在途中,不離途中常J27nB199_p0541b01居丈室。還委麼?杖頭踏盡縱橫路,遍坐青山作道J27nB199_p0541b02場。」
J27nB199_p0541b03水口興濟堂請小參:「來從淵關來,去從淵關去,來去J27nB199_p0541b04自奔波,淵關渾如故。不見祖師道:『萬法本閒,唯人J27nB199_p0541b05自鬧。』若知鬧底即是閒底,便見燈花燦爛,色不關J27nB199_p0541b06情;若知閒底即是鬧底,便聽簫鼓駢闐,聲非礙耳。J27nB199_p0541b07何以故?有物為物,則被物物礙;膺塵本非塵,則可J27nB199_p0541b08塵塵合道。」舉起拂子云:「拂子是塵,喚甚麼作道?拂J27nB199_p0541b09子是道,喚甚麼作塵?」擲下拂子云:「還知麼?關津雖J27nB199_p0541b10放過,不許販私鹽。」
J27nB199_p0541b11又夜請說茶話:「至道無文,至理無說,無說無文,是何J27nB199_p0541b12妙訣?閉戶造車,出門合轍,如豹澤毛,如龍蟄穴。鼓J27nB199_p0541b13浪乘風,江河倒決,轉妙旋玄,其機始徹。一棒當頭,J27nB199_p0541b14破皮出血,擔版不圓,只得者橛。機權變化,不思議J27nB199_p0541b15舌,會盡淆訛,眾流可截。且道截斷眾流底人是何J27nB199_p0541b16手段?不曾過水口,那識是淵關。」
J27nB199_p0541b17黯淡寺請小參:「禪非放意可參,道非矜持可得。矜持J27nB199_p0541b18則心頭常惴,安能順水張帆?放意則繩頭不緊,焉J27nB199_p0541b19能逆風把柁?如人未過黯淡灘頭,未免心驚險墮;J27nB199_p0541b20既過黯淡灘頭,便乃放身倒臥。如此參學,終有矜J27nB199_p0541b21放之失,安契中道之妙。惟智者善能陸地行舟、空J27nB199_p0541b22中走馬,夷險皆如,逆順何訝。且道因甚麼得如此J27nB199_p0541b23穩便?移舟不別水,舉棹即迷源。」
J27nB199_p0541b24開元寺請小參:「古德悟道偈云:『一拳拳倒黃鶴樓,一J27nB199_p0541b25踢踢翻鸚鵡洲,有意氣時添意氣,不風流處也風J27nB199_p0541b26流。』慚愧古人露手露腳,鼓粥飯氣,大似個白拈賊。J27nB199_p0541b27殊不知天關未轉、地軸未旋,徒爾驚群,難極底蘊。J27nB199_p0541c01誾上座則不然,展開坐具包群象,抖擻袈裟裹太J27nB199_p0541c02虛,六臂三頭誇好漢,輪王未與髻中珠。何也?大方J27nB199_p0541c03無軌則,應物任偏圓。」
J27nB199_p0541c04董巖請小參:「道人用處如風行空,理透徹而意自玄,J27nB199_p0541c05機虛閒而神自王,一任神駒蹴踏,還如靈鶴翱翔。J27nB199_p0541c06蓋得無心於事、無事於心,自然虛而靈、寂而妙,不J27nB199_p0541c07拘修證,寧滯有為?諸兄弟!若欲得此受用,直須繩J27nB199_p0541c08頭緊把,自然透出重關。且道透出關外底人是何J27nB199_p0541c09作略?天容難覆載,器水逐方圓。」
