J20nB098_p0503a02從上祖師種種垂慈,如三玄要、四料揀、五位、九十七J20nB098_p0503a03圓相、拈椎豎拂、行棒行喝、輥毬打鼓、燒畬斬蛇、野狐J20nB098_p0503a04貓兒、須彌山、麻三斤等話,直下似崩崖怒濤、猛風迅J20nB098_p0503a05雷,聞者頭破、目之眥裂,真是奇特西影,卻笑它這一J20nB098_p0503a06泒不唧溜漢,說平實禪、老婆禪,賺他兒孫臥冷地,忍J20nB098_p0503a07俊不禁,向渠徒眾鼓粥飯氣,牙齒敲磕。其徒不隱家J20nB098_p0503a08醜,脫入紙墨,舉似居士。居士謾讀一過,灼然奇特,遂J20nB098_p0503a09使從上諸祖伎倆盡失,結舌有分。時有傍不肯的向J20nB098_p0503a10予道:「居士!居士!莫謗他古人好。古人垂語,如荊棘刺,J20nB098_p0503a11難下足故;如鐵釘飯,難下口故。西影拖泥帶水,有甚J20nB098_p0503a12奇特,堪超佛祖?」余曰:「子且莫草草。子第知諸祖語如J20nB098_p0503a13刺如鐵,而不知西影語泥裏有刺、米中有鐵,使你冬J20nB098_p0503a14瓜瓠子不知不覺傷足傷齒,不尤勝古人耶?雖然!古J20nB098_p0503a15人、今人都是一期方便,隨痾設劑,寧有勝劣?你若作J20nB098_p0503a16古人解、今人解,誰勝解、誰劣解,豈惟辜負西影,抑且J20nB098_p0503a17埋沒諸祖。」其人茫然而退。

黃蘗無念禪師復問原序
J20nB098_p0503a22黃蘗無念禪師得無師智,思與大心眾生開佛知見,J20nB098_p0503a23以報佛恩。一時,宰官、居士以此事來參叩者,不覺老J20nB098_p0503a24婆心切,向一座無縫塔上透個機關,所謂官不容針,J20nB098_p0503a25私通車馬也。然雖如是,猶恐觀者執語生解,影外認J20nB098_p0503a26影、足外添足,則此一番葛藤又須快刀剷斷,清淨眼J20nB098_p0503a27中可容如許金屑乎?六祖有云:「諸佛妙理,非關文字。」J20nB098_p0503a28常笑老子饒舌賺人,只諸佛妙理四言已是一篇大J20nB098_p0503a29文字矣。即說不關文字為諸佛妙理,恐曹溪滴水未J20nB098_p0503a30夢見在。昔世尊說法四十九年,卻言我于法未曾說J20nB098_p0503b01一字。作如是解者,可以印黃蘗復問矣。未離海底千J20nB098_p0503b02山暗,纔到中天萬國明,請師為我更薦一轉語也。

J20nB098_p0504b04僧數十年涉水登山,只為這件事未得,餘習淨盡,所J20nB098_p0504b05以終日挨拶,尋個鐵石心腸無情漢子撩起就行竟J20nB098_p0504b06不可得。古云:佛道非遙遠,久長難得。人雖有一二相J20nB098_p0504b07知,不免聰明領略,或遇境逢緣,觸發知覺,認得個光J20nB098_p0504b08影,坐此窠臼,如鐵橛相似,及乎問著本分事,不是說J20nB098_p0504b09些義理,弄出許多機關,便作默然良久。若與他同侶,J20nB098_p0504b10反招累墜。世情利害、作喪殺人,不透此關,難出陰魔J20nB098_p0504b11之手,只能入淨不能入穢,入佛入不得魔,入順入不J20nB098_p0504b12得逆,便有人境之分,限量之隔。何故?是他見識不忘,J20nB098_p0504b13氣質未化,被人一折,便生嗔恨。若不一刀兩段,大有J20nB098_p0504b14事在。

J20nB098_p0504b16屢承師友錐劄,又恐見諦不實,難逃順逆二境,奔馳J20nB098_p0504b17南北,借是非場、假利害劍,磨煉習態,方得疑情頓脫、J20nB098_p0504b18見惑銷融,外無他求、內無所守,纔見達磨直指之道,J20nB098_p0504b19不費絲毫氣力。僧已年暮,精神漸減,難奉人情,只好J20nB098_p0504b20歸山,放闊空懷,渴飲饑餐,閒遊倦眠,只待瓜熟蒂落,J20nB098_p0504b21大寂光中作個滿散矣。
復梅司馬衡湘
J20nB098_p0504b23臺下靈州之役,其作用妙處,與卓老談之久矣。嗣後J20nB098_p0504b24聞拂衣之說,豈有他哉?蓋謂生死難明,欲于風波中J20nB098_p0504b25求出頭耳。夫道本無方,迷於執方,丈夫事業無妨道J20nB098_p0504b26也。不曰不離法場而證菩提乎?然未可謂功業真無J20nB098_p0504b27妨道也,不有捨淨飯之位而入雪山者乎?要之,隱現J20nB098_p0504b28無所不可,惟不辦生死之心,徒爾效顰,則真不可耳。J20nB098_p0504b29令愛真靈照復出,不知若翁果龐居士否?居士沉金J20nB098_p0504b30帛于水矣,若翁獨不能沉功業於水乎?

J20nB098_p0504c02接手書,感承遠教所云世緣素輕近益脫,然獨疾痛J20nB098_p0504c03一關不能打透,明知四大假合,有身為患,僧謂人之J20nB098_p0504c04至親者、身至難者患苦,必先打透此關,有個出身之J20nB098_p0504c05路,然後便好逢緣作戲、借境煉心。縱患苦臨身,亦脫J20nB098_p0504c06然無累。蓋身是苦本,亦云極樂。若離苦求樂,譬如捨J20nB098_p0504c07礦求金;若即苦是樂,又是認礦作金。古人到此,舌折J20nB098_p0504c08辭窮,切不可退惰,只要猛省,返身一擲。何如?

J20nB098_p0504c10數年在江西,每聞鄧老道及公經濟之才,並見詩疏J20nB098_p0504c11稿,當今真難得此人也。又云國家幸有此長城之寄,J20nB098_p0504c12更復何慮?我輩林下人得以安心學道,真大快事。及J20nB098_p0504c13某回來,又聞公以出世自任。山僧甚不然,豈可將世J20nB098_p0504c14間第一等便宜都要占盡了也?留下此一著與山林J20nB098_p0504c15野人過日罷,何得攙行奪市?昔龐老亦是楚人公,豈J20nB098_p0504c16龐老復出乎?他一家洞明大法,來去自由,今果有此J20nB098_p0504c17大手段、大力量否?幸以所得處見教一二,何吝法之J20nB098_p0504c18甚。令愛大法已明,公信得及否?若信得及,不妨與之J20nB098_p0504c19商量,彼決不負乃翁也。
復尼大士澹然即衡湘公女也
J20nB098_p0504c21來書言言真切,可惜精神向見解上去了。孔子三千J20nB098_p0504c22徒眾,個個聰明博達;善學愚者,止顏子一人。近時學J20nB098_p0504c23道者,譬如猜謎,或于公案、或于話頭上猜著歡喜,也J20nB098_p0504c24當悟了一番,縱把三藏十二部、一千七百則都明白J20nB098_p0504c25了也,只是播弄精魂,不如收攝真神,向那黑漫漫處,J20nB098_p0504c26要曉不能曉、要說不能說,眼睜睜地,如機關木人相J20nB098_p0504c27似,到此更加逼拶,豁然㘞地一聲,頭破腦裂,如夢忽J20nB098_p0504c28醒,方知從前見解都是夢言。尊翁聰明豪俠,真不可J20nB098_p0504c29及,不免被伶俐所使,忽日老苦臨身不能治也。不若J20nB098_p0504c30勸渠趁此強健時,向那神筭不到處、計較難測處、見J20nB098_p0505a01聞不及處討個分曉。縱有神機妙用、能所是非,一齊J20nB098_p0505a02休歇,惟有饑食倦眠而已,只待報緣一盡,符到奉行。

J20nB098_p0505a04山中兀坐,不聞動息,未知近來見地何如?學道須趁J20nB098_p0505a05初心猛利,就要討個分曉,日用對境逢緣,纔得出脫。J20nB098_p0505a06不然,日久月深,漸忘精進,依舊流於世情耳。近時學J20nB098_p0505a07道人只圖口舌便利、見識聰明,及乎病苦臨身,一些J20nB098_p0505a08也用不著。又不恨自己念頭不切、立志差錯,反說先J20nB098_p0505a09聖也只如此。且莫錯會好,古聖一言半句,如吹毛劍、J20nB098_p0505a10鐵釘飯、木扎羹、塗毒鼓,無你側耳處、無你下口處、無J20nB098_p0505a11你著意處、無你近傍處,狹路相逢,貶眼錯過。到這裏,J20nB098_p0505a12情消想絕,思盡神窮,寒暑兩忘,寢食俱廢,正於無可J20nB098_p0505a13捉摸處驀忽猛省,馳求頓歇,再不隨聲逐色。到此地J20nB098_p0505a14位,但是聰明解會、能巧神通,脫手讓與他人,終日如J20nB098_p0505a15癡如訥,空腹閑心,世人亦不識、鬼神覷不見、閻老子J20nB098_p0505a16無處著眼,纔是個頂天立地的漢子。

J20nB098_p0505a18昨見尊翁以《楞嚴》晦昧為空相,示此問,正為自己細J20nB098_p0505a19惑未盡、見識不化,生出許多見解,不知總是緣境晦J20nB098_p0505a20昧,明被明昧、曉被曉昧、覺被覺昧,總之,不識真空所J20nB098_p0505a21在故也。自性真空,觸物而應,臨機而變,你向何處知J20nB098_p0505a22曉他?譬如睡著無夢無覺時,你知在何處?忽然響聲J20nB098_p0505a23驚覺,知從何來?要省響聲未至、知未生時是何境象?J20nB098_p0505a24切莫作睡醒會好。尊翁膽略,聰明可遵,唯這著子,不J20nB098_p0505a25敢奉承。何也?見識太廣,機巧太多,被伎倆氣魄參合,J20nB098_p0505a26難得淨盡。豈不聞?為學日增,為道日減。減到自不知J20nB098_p0505a27處,雖有六根,置于無用之地,又有何虛空大地晦昧J20nB098_p0505a28名相耶?
復劉太史雲嶠
J20nB098_p0505a30接來教,感謝奉行,從此外學愚訥,內非虛閑,不負高J20nB098_p0505b01明之望也。願公深根固蒂,莫被境風搖動,要信尊顯J20nB098_p0505b02成壞乃是前因,非今生人力為也。若信得過、識得破,J20nB098_p0505b03腳跟穩當,趁此境風,大進是非裏,煆煉出世英雄,豈J20nB098_p0505b04俗士可知?僧奔馳人境,非求名譽,只恐今生錯過,萬J20nB098_p0505b05劫難逢。伶俐漢腳跟須點地,脊梁硬似鐵,遊戲人間,J20nB098_p0505b06幻視萬緣,脫去知解,及至作用,不落窠臼,纔是觀自J20nB098_p0505b07在也。

J20nB098_p0505b09聞公時刻不暇,常有不如意事。人生世間都在事物J20nB098_p0505b10中安身,大智慧人自有出身之路,不被事擾,先識得J20nB098_p0505b11自己,所以脫洒自由。道眼未開時,被事所轉,常有如J20nB098_p0505b12意、不如意的在心,總之不識本命元辰也。公氣魄豪J20nB098_p0505b13俠不凡,只恨不在己分中打點。若趁早回頭討個分J20nB098_p0505b14曉,便好遊戲三界,就事安身。不然,我是我、事是事,縱J20nB098_p0505b15做得勳業格天、功名蓋世,源頭上不清徹,才力氣魄J20nB098_p0505b16只在名利窠裏,臨命終時,依舊黑漫漫地。不如放下J20nB098_p0505b17門外事,向那理會不及處猛著精彩,著力打點、著力J20nB098_p0505b18查考,忽然英雄憤發,爆地一聲,脫胎換骨,不求無事,J20nB098_p0505b19分明絕矣。

J20nB098_p0505b21前日未了公案,只今何如?予見公性勇猛,恐無入處,J20nB098_p0505b22生退墮心,權露光影,令暫歇腳耳,切莫以此便休。古J20nB098_p0505b23宿有三種接人:下根人來,除境不除法;中根人來,境J20nB098_p0505b24法俱奪;上根人來,全體作用,不立崖岸,除是金剛牢J20nB098_p0505b25強銅頭鐵額漢,到這裏便有通變的手眼。今夏入山,J20nB098_p0505b26大家多買柴炭,鍛煉一番,陰氣銷盡。倘一日洗面,摸J20nB098_p0505b27著鼻孔,大有得力處在。
復王憲副豐輿
J20nB098_p0505b29別後不聞一音,未知今日又作麼生?想大進不待問J20nB098_p0505b30矣。公既省得自己,反觀萬緣猶如夢幻。古人到此,意J20nB098_p0505c01盡言窮。若是義解之流,饒他識量衝天、聰明蓋世,到J20nB098_p0505c02這裏無插足處,方知前頭工夫易得,後步工夫最微。J20nB098_p0505c03十地菩薩量等三千大千世界,說法不可思議,見性J20nB098_p0505c04如隔羅縠。等覺菩薩,了色即空,悟空即色,法量未滅,J20nB098_p0505c05智識有限,饒他說法如雨如雲,總是度量智,是量邊J20nB098_p0505c06事,終非究竟。僧數十年只為這件事,不避寒暑,窮參J20nB098_p0505c07力究,困苦勞形,逼得身心無逃奔處。一日掇盒送櫃,J20nB098_p0505c08不覺失手,櫃蓋倒來,打頭作痛,豁然猛覺,踢破無明,J20nB098_p0505c09掀翻識浪,數十年愁苦一旦休息,外緣既寂,內識不J20nB098_p0505c10停,鼓作精神,滔滔變化,遇境逢緣,六根不歇。後閱古J20nB098_p0505c11宿公案,遇著個沒意味句,盡力不能吞吐,當下失身J20nB098_p0505c12喪命,直得無事可守、無本可據,不免依原,托缽度日,J20nB098_p0505c13以待歲盡而已。

J20nB098_p0505c15純夫對卓老言會公於福州時,將淆訛詰問他,渠說J20nB098_p0505c16都是哄人的,公說只此一言,毫髮盡同也。卓老笑云:J20nB098_p0505c17觀公之言,不必問學可知矣,不唯辜負古人,亦乃自J20nB098_p0505c18欺瞞耳。不知先聖憐憫眾生沈沒苦海,無可奈何,設J20nB098_p0505c19此淆訛公案,智識不能解、利口不能言。若是宿有靈J20nB098_p0505c20根,遇此公案,如箭入心,結滯胸中,欲透不能、欲罷不J20nB098_p0505c21能,懷下聖胎年深日久,噴地折、嚗地斷,生死利害纔J20nB098_p0505c22奈何我不得,方好與人解粘去縛,抽釘拔楔。若果到J20nB098_p0505c23此,六根休歇,心腹空閑,決不作此註解矣。令郎信根J20nB098_p0505c24大利,切不可把識見染污他,逼拶到不通氣處,忽然J20nB098_p0505c25猛省,方曉香嚴一擊忘所知那一句子,纔不負他靈J20nB098_p0505c26根聰明處耳。

J20nB098_p0505c28蜀楚間關數千里,何時得一覿面也?世上業緣足以J20nB098_p0505c29累人,不是有力量漢,誠難擔荷。公向此熱鬧門庭,佛J20nB098_p0505c30事熾然,真是不壞世相而入實相也。雖到此地,未稱J20nB098_p0506a01究竟。此時色力充實,強自支持,臘月三十日到來,又J20nB098_p0506a02作麼生抵敵?公平生全力在于性命,命根不斷,是非J20nB098_p0506a03鋒起。我此昭昭靈靈,乃自生後入此殼漏子,被現前J20nB098_p0506a04種種業力驅使,如今三界、二十五有,莫不依此為憑J20nB098_p0506a05仗,以此當主人公。屢聞辯論奇特,乃是依此發出來J20nB098_p0506a06的支節,恐無始習氣未得勦絕,於應緣處則不相應J20nB098_p0506a07矣。功名富貴,真是令人可愛。大慧斥云:「做得官大的J20nB098_p0506a08無明大,做得官小的無明小。」這老漢兩句淡話,令人J20nB098_p0506a09思之。有味學道人,真如大火聚,一切大小名相俱不J20nB098_p0506a10依倚。世上夢幻,無有窮極,要得大醒,在于何劫?倘便J20nB098_p0506a11道一談,幸幸!

J20nB098_p0506a13一別十餘年矣,不得日侍左右,飫領教言,徒懷戀慕J20nB098_p0506a14耳。宗社寂寥,無如今日,單傳一路,荊棘叢生。海內參J20nB098_p0506a15學者雖眾,各執己見,不肯知非,欲得個返本歸源、光J20nB098_p0506a16揚祖室者,其在公乎!此段事決非小根淺識者所能J20nB098_p0506a17擔荷,若非銅頭鐵額漢子,渾身是膽,未敢撒手懸崖。J20nB098_p0506a18若肯直下赤手空拳,一肩擔荷,何惜餘光照臨窮谷J20nB098_p0506a19耶?不審日用事作麼生?迎接僚屬時、政務冗雜時,還J20nB098_p0506a20生忻厭否?逆境逼迫時,心安寓否?事不稱意時,心一J20nB098_p0506a21如否?六根對物時,人境兩空否?形骸分散時,來去自J20nB098_p0506a22由否?望一一明示。

J20nB098_p0506a24別後不奉道誨久矣,不審動定如何?近日士大夫以J20nB098_p0506a25聰明意見,將暫時岐路指為究竟,便拋入無事甲裏,J20nB098_p0506a26道力不能勝,業力浸淫,打入塵勞內,幾與飲酒食肉J20nB098_p0506a27不礙菩提、行盜行婬無妨般若此等外道同一窠臼,J20nB098_p0506a28如此豈唯生死大事不得力,即小小利害已自手腳J20nB098_p0506a29忙亂了也。如居士根力,道眼迥異,時輩想不蹈此病。J20nB098_p0506a30古德云:學道如鑽火,逢煙且莫休。竿頭進步,是所望J20nB098_p0506b01耳。至于日用行持,尤宜綿密。昔李漢老已明大事,而J20nB098_p0506b02大慧猶叮嚀之曰:「日用間當依黃面老子所云,違其J20nB098_p0506b03現業,除其助因。此乃了事漢無修證中真修證也。」居J20nB098_p0506b04士家尊奉五戒,謹護三業,此乃悟與未悟所共之行。J20nB098_p0506b05如日用飲食必不可廢者,莫將逆行菩薩偶爾示現J20nB098_p0506b06之跡,便附會入一切無礙見解。自己一人,其毒猶小,J20nB098_p0506b07展轉相傳,寫烏成馬,將來無忌憚之流,殆不忍言。山J20nB098_p0506b08僧往年見刺不破,雖不敢自抉藩籬,誤出示人,亦未J20nB098_p0506b09免有圓滑托大之弊。今喜宰官中黃慎軒、袁中郎兄J20nB098_p0506b10弟輩同時回頭,苦心參禪,真實修行,守護戒寶,此乃J20nB098_p0506b11法門之幸事也。居士是法中有力健兒,但恐休歇太J20nB098_p0506b12早,智不入微、道不勝習耳。若不回頭,此紙即同臘月J20nB098_p0506b13扇子也。

J20nB098_p0506b26純夫到,得手書,聞舟中得悟者三,一路辯論甚妙,覺J20nB098_p0506b27得從前都不是。此語雖好,總是見解,不如忽然猛醒,J20nB098_p0506b28披襟一笑,更不道是我、非我,省多少精神。不然,如夢J20nB098_p0506b29說夢,縱悟得一千遍,與己何干?昔所謂傾囊布施之J20nB098_p0506b30言,總成寐語矣。若得夢醒,更不復夢。做夢、說夢總是J20nB098_p0506c01自己,豈有一人之身自作昔是今非之見耶?純夫道:J20nB098_p0506c02公與王豐輿不相信,非二公不信僧,無可信處。但願J20nB098_p0506c03二公自信,不隨人腳跟轉,就是達磨西來,覓個自肯J20nB098_p0506c04的不可得。純夫說:二公盡被他轉動腳跟,詰其來由,J20nB098_p0506c05依舊在門外打之遶。如此學道,不但哄人,亦乃自哄。

J20nB098_p0506c07昨承慈念,感愧難當,願公愍正法寂寥,拚捨見聞,報J20nB098_p0506c08佛恩德。苟或參決未透、鑑辨未明,被愛惡情欲纏縛J20nB098_p0506c09於思惟測識之中,卒未免于毫釐千里之謬。蓋世學J20nB098_p0506c10者,莫不以識見解會,分別能所為知。至於聰見不及J20nB098_p0506c11處,則以為知有未盡、理有未窮,仍向古人冊子上旁J20nB098_p0506c12求博采,漁獵見聞,見人說得相似,便作道理會去。殊J20nB098_p0506c13不知本有妙明清淨無為之體,已陷于知知識識之J20nB098_p0506c14中。忽被業風吹向境緣,浩浩地依舊與情意輥作一J20nB098_p0506c15團,自己分上了無交涉。如此者,喚作辜負己靈,埋沒J20nB098_p0506c16先聖。古云:知之一字,眾禍之門。豈虛語哉?近時士大J20nB098_p0506c17夫學道,說得頭徹尾徹,下筆四六尖新,寫得攢花簇J20nB098_p0506c18錦,一逢利害便自作主不得,不知學道何為?

J20nB098_p0506c20素服公筋骨如鐵、膽壯神雄,但開口應對便不本色,J20nB098_p0506c21不覺被機語氣魄瞞過。何也?好奇勝之過耳。令弟聰J20nB098_p0506c22明才學出自天然,要緊處毫釐不肯放過,真不可及。J20nB098_p0506c23二公乃是公安二聖復出世也,令兄亦肯好學,雖入J20nB098_p0506c24義路去了,念念不休,若得回頭,未可知也。劉太史見J20nB098_p0506c25地已明,只欠懸崖撒手。在公權巧,曹溪一脈不絕也。J20nB098_p0506c26寂寥中,看古宿省益人處,錄呈數段,請教似同志者J20nB098_p0506c27共覽何如?

J20nB098_p0506c29別後數載,知所造日益精明,見佳刻、戲笑、怒罵皆為J20nB098_p0506c30佛事,真法門梁棟也。不知令兄何如?今居清要之官,J20nB098_p0507a01兄弟一處,終日共話無生。昔東坡言:世間那有揚州J20nB098_p0507a02鶴。今觀公兄弟受用,豈不勝腰纏騎鶴者萬萬倍耶?J20nB098_p0507a03又見令弟與梅楊和書云:學道事甚大,非一面作功J20nB098_p0507a04名、受富貴、耽聲色、料理世情,一面又去學可以了得。J20nB098_p0507a05又云:古人四十年打成一片,除粥飯二時是雜用心,J20nB098_p0507a06何等勤苦專一?今纔有所得,便以為一切無礙,恣情J20nB098_p0507a07作業,不知地獄債何時還也。可畏!可畏!如令弟所云,J20nB098_p0507a08誠是未可輕易抹過。僧謂如世間種種事業,做官做J20nB098_p0507a09人、聰明氣魄、詩文草聖,一切從心意識擬得的盡讓J20nB098_p0507a10與公家兄弟,只有聰明擬不得的、意識行不得的這J20nB098_p0507a11一著子,還讓與老僧受用何如?近有一疑,無人為我J20nB098_p0507a12破得。僧與鄧公相處數十年,承其過愛,相信之深,真J20nB098_p0507a13知己也。今一旦捨我而去,雖日夕思念,竟不知在何J20nB098_p0507a14處。公具慧眼者,必能看得透,畢竟鄧公真在何處?若J20nB098_p0507a15能破我此疑,莫大之恩也。

J20nB098_p0507a17生平求友不了之,悵得一面,足下悉為酬盡。海內談J20nB098_p0507a18心學者,本不具眼,又不遇人,所以盡成辜負去也。焦J20nB098_p0507a19先生輩奈患聰明太毒,難教淨盡,受症在極微細所J20nB098_p0507a20知愚處,故不能渾融境風,卒來湊泊,猶在種地不空,J20nB098_p0507a21出皆渣滓,舉筆開談,不無根蒂。為人手眼,說法導迷,J20nB098_p0507a22如將勦賊,先破其巢,然後擒如探囊。今時學者不經J20nB098_p0507a23本色開導,多是鼓唇意度,博一肚皮道理,親師近友J20nB098_p0507a24只圖撥些勝負,那得半個虛心空腹者哉?這件事若J20nB098_p0507a25欲求人,正好于聖明之下大闢鑪冶,煆煉群雄,閃電J20nB098_p0507a26光中攝取得三兩個英靈者,佐助宗乘,使佛燈不墜,J20nB098_p0507a27含識乘恩,功莫大焉。蘇雲浦有超格之資、筋骨之士,J20nB098_p0507a28當用鉗鎚,不可放過。梅長公到京,諒納入知己中,此J20nB098_p0507a29公到是個貨,赤歷無染,膽壯神雄,正可優任,奈不生J20nB098_p0507a30鼻孔,無把捉他處,願宛轉慇懃造就得出來,不同弱J20nB098_p0507b01質無氣味者。至囑!至囑!

J20nB098_p0507b03適逢來教,聞發憤志,斷除助因,此念既發,定成聖果。J20nB098_p0507b04承寄汾陽一段因緣,我前在藏裏揀出,欲勦絕鄧公J20nB098_p0507b05見解,不覺老僧也被他打失鼻孔,至今痛恨無地。又J20nB098_p0507b06承寄來,不知是我仇敵,我費盡數十年辛苦,學得禪J20nB098_p0507b07道,零零碎碎,盡被揭擄一空,依舊只還得個粥飯僧J20nB098_p0507b08耳。老窮無倚,空守寒崖,閑時栽得些惡辣物事,管待J20nB098_p0507b09禪客。倘不棄來我山中,也要奉上一碗,辣出一身白J20nB098_p0507b10汗。到這裏,全身放下,一步一看,除我一身之外,更有J20nB098_p0507b11何事?縱有說的、明的,修的、學的,總是剩語。此話非公J20nB098_p0507b12力量超群,斷不敢陳上。

J20nB098_p0507b14陶公云足下是真了手漢,不任欣慰。雖然,切不可以J20nB098_p0507b15此為是。若自認是,終無日新之用。學如大海,漸入漸J20nB098_p0507b16深,故曰無盡藏。僧入山來,愚訥兀坐,全無活計,數十J20nB098_p0507b17年所學不知向何處去了,依然只是個住山僧耳。山J20nB098_p0507b18中人無別事,只有幾個法親常在心中,若得無法可J20nB098_p0507b19執、無見可逞,吾事畢矣。

J20nB098_p0507c03自領教來會卓老,言渠遨遊四方,至南北二都尋求J20nB098_p0507c04師友,不見有一人實為生死,惟公志氣真切,只是路J20nB098_p0507c05徑不同,但向聰慧氣魄上著力,不肯退步知非。近時J20nB098_p0507c06士大夫,秪要會得事事分曉,說得道理,如佛祖相似,J20nB098_p0507c07不知反成壅塞。我此門中無你分曉處、無用氣魄處,J20nB098_p0507c08只貴息機忘見耳。某無一能,只這著子不肯泛然,左J20nB098_p0507c09挨右拶,直得途窮路絕,覷透淵源,饒他千聖出來,也J20nB098_p0507c10須吃棒。

J20nB098_p0507c12金陵別後,消息茫然,李卓老化為烏有,以法臺視之,J20nB098_p0507c13不知了手何如?若以為未了,則彼自掛冠以來,精進J20nB098_p0507c14殆無寧刻,豈以聰明豪傑勤苦數十年而猶未耶?若J20nB098_p0507c15以為了,則又安所憑據?公素具法眼,且卓老亟稱海J20nB098_p0507c16內知己惟公一人,故今所疑難,不得不以相質。此段J20nB098_p0507c17商量,正是出生死關頭處,不作比方人物看,望明以J20nB098_p0507c18示我。海內人文零落,命脈如線,都中固材藪,不知尚J20nB098_p0507c19有足任者否?先時箇中自不乏人,然或為毀譽所嚇、J20nB098_p0507c20或為疑信所搖,不免改換腳步,半途而廢,真可惜也。

J20nB098_p0507c22大令郎欲搆靜廬,置野朽于座右,共商個事,不惟吾J20nB098_p0507c23宗有托,且殘喘得所賴矣。復接手教,知遽斷世緣。傷J20nB098_p0507c24哉!是造化之妒賢,不俯就人好事也。人生此世,顛沛J20nB098_p0507c25坎坷大數不無,千古英賢不足類是,老翁臨此劇痛,J20nB098_p0507c26何如學問陰毒,最隱最微?十地菩薩尚有未盡為道,J20nB098_p0507c27若不經百萬惡煞照鑒,檢察不出。近世學人不取自J20nB098_p0507c28悟,多遊識逕,攀緣他家糟粕,比合自己根塵,一段無J20nB098_p0507c29味無生底徑截,不肯推究,講太平禪、說脫空話,個個J20nB098_p0507c30都似毫無錯謬。一旦飛災罹厄八面衝來,渾無把捉,J20nB098_p0508a01待事過理融,已鷂過新羅矣。若秪討論些義味,逍遣J20nB098_p0508a02悶懷、浮沉世俗乃可,要濟生死關津,豈能得乎?實務J20nB098_p0508a03了此大事,須卸卻一生裝載,乾竭累積珍藏,將至玄J20nB098_p0508a04至妙的、能覺能悟的、陰結不化的、隱隱在臟腑中作J20nB098_p0508a05奇作怪的劫賊陰魔通身打落,罄教淨盡,全無倚托,J20nB098_p0508a06如靈魂不得附屍相似,倒向平地上,忽轉過身來,纔J20nB098_p0508a07有一星見量現前,急須吹毛鏟落,無令纖土停針,方J20nB098_p0508a08許少分相應。
復傅考功泰衡
J20nB098_p0508a10接蔣考功書,道公吞過栗棘蓬三個,不受人瞞。僧特J20nB098_p0508a11過訪,果不虛也。若非夙植德本,累劫薰修,焉能一信J20nB098_p0508a12至此?雖然,切不可認著。何也?若作聖解,迷在中途。所J20nB098_p0508a13以前步工夫只圖見性,後步須要透出重關、覷破生J20nB098_p0508a14死。譬如駕船,無風浪時,撐篙盪槳之人也都扶得柁,J20nB098_p0508a15若遇風浪滔天,須是久慣的稍公柁柄在手,隨波上J20nB098_p0508a16下,安穩無憂。到恁麼時,便好逢場作戲,隨寓安身,出J20nB098_p0508a17格利生,無處不可。若有毫釐未盡,強作主宰,卒境一J20nB098_p0508a18至,瞥爾情生,雖有見識聰明都用不著,實自欺瞞,非J20nB098_p0508a19先賢之罪也。

J20nB098_p0508a21來云怕死忽到,不知趣向。若真怕死,且看這一怕死J20nB098_p0508a22的從何而起?查來查去,不論年月,如水濕麻繩,漸漸J20nB098_p0508a23緊來,逼到無用力處,連那怕死的、查考的一齊粉碎。J20nB098_p0508a24生尚不可得,死從何來?切莫知解過去了。
